cute design but im firmly anti putting gamzee in the comic at this point bc i dont trust how theyd be handled.

i think its kind of interesting that once again they are a character being defined by their silence and acting as a helper but i dont really think its even intentional and if it isss? given how writers have talked about gamzee i dont see anything interesting wrt their agency or characterization coming up + it kind of just feels like inserting a cutesy gamzee playing into that role of silenced servitude is within the context of Fanon making a kind of joke about that being a reading wholly divorced from the story. which. whateverrrr. i am not here to appeal my reading onto people who cant even admit the reality of the character in question being written with racist + sanist undertones and why people maybe dont love This particular character as the whole Has No Personality Outside Of Badguy thing. makes random (even innocuous) insertions of them feel not great but that could just be me and my wounds!

i do think short gamzee is supreme tho how quickly this world forgets she cant reach her pedals </3

like at this point the joke is being milked for the explicit purpose of reframing them as white so that people can pretend the author was making some kind of apt commentary on appropriation and not just like... deeply and explicitly uncomfortable with the ways they were witnessing black culture predominate in spite of their excessively white internet bubbles. and it is still just kind of shocking to me how in a work so blatant in its racism (not to MENTION the backlog of hussies prior works, but i will. again. and again and again) that has gone on to reiterate the stereotypes written specifically into the makaras ... that the writers are like. okay with that. with being so blatantly a part of a reframing campaign instead of asking the work they supposedly love so much to speak to its own past. instead if we just strongarm it enough it never happened and this is how it was the whole time guys, trust us. ridiculousssss.

the fact that most gender headcanons are rooted more in projection than having anything to do with basis in texts is like. fine ultimately while that approach to fiction is weird/useless/unengaged to me its not like it matters beyond my general gripes with media as brain off escapism rather than having themes that like. matter. but it does bug the fuck out of me for the fact its become the standard and so people will look at how i feel about a characters gender and be like haha yeah fuck canon anything is real when like. sure fuck canon for many reasons but no i actually have a lot of textual basis around why i feel this way. also usually the same brand of people who see me assert a character as transfem and burrow their discomfort in layers of telling me why theyre transmasc or god forbid the "theyre trans every direction actually haha somehow worlds first mtf ftm"
