i have suddenly become obsessed with a theme that HoO established but never proceeded to extrapolate on, which is:

You are Percy Jackson, and you have been swapped with a boy who was allegedly everyone's favorite person, but they have decided to replace him with you. They just met you. I’ve always personally headcanoned that if Mandalorians DID have certain stereotypical family/relationship roles it wouldn’t be anywhere close to gendered, like one person is the man and one person is the woman. It would be like, one person is the shield and one person is the sword. One is the guard and one is the hunter. The bigger and stronger of the two — traditionally, though obviously every marriage would be different and most wouldn’t conform exactly, especially with polyamory — might be the one to stay home and guard the kids and the clan. While the faster, more maneuverable and perhaps deadlier of the two went out and hunted, provided, initiated raids. A Mandalorian couple fighting together would be so dangerous for so many reasons but principally because if they’re both there it probably means you’re on their territory and both the guard and the hunter are after you, and now you’re seriously fucked.

kinda thinking about neil's gunshot and how we don't hear it. totally silent. it reminds of the "if a tree falls in the woods" question. neil dying alone in the middle of his father's study.

and it's such a loud weapon, too, which makes it seem all the more intentional that it was cut out. in his last moments he went out with a bang, but nearly no one hears it.

even before the night of the play: his friends and keating independently told him to just talk, and perhaps he'll get what he wants — but he knows that's impossible. no one else truly understood. they didn't really hear him.

just like rebelling against his father to be in the play: did it matter if he was found out anyway? he knew when he was caught that it was over no matter what. does his death mean anything if the only one to hear the shot was the very same man who controlled every aspect of his life?

if neil falls and no one is around to hear the gunshot, did he contribute a verse?

What can I say, I just really like watching these two interact, and I think Bazz is weirdly uniquely qualified to relate to at least some of Link's internal drama.

I just rewatched a scene from the punisher season 2, not sure if you’ve watched the show but essentially frank is trying to save this teenage girl (Amy) from these bad guys that called to her last location.

In the final encounter with a bad guy, Frank is yelling that he better not hurt the girl and the bad guy is threatening to shoot if Frank comes up the stairs, so while the bad guy is distracted - Amy disarms him and then shoots him.

She starts to panic about having killed guy - he’s actually still alive but he is bleeding out on the floor - and Frank says “no you just shot him” *bang* “I killed him” and I just realized how Jason-coded this felt!!

Like Jason would 100% take on that guilt from a loved one and the violence of it also just added a dimension of how Jason would go above and beyond for his people. And it just made me realize how similar the punisher and red hood kind of are??

this is for real *so* Jason.

i faintly remember someone mentioning that the Batfamily will always feel safe and guilty about the fact that Jason will kill for them. because they could never do the same for him. for them, breaking Batman's morals it is the end of everything. nor they will kill for themselves, nor are they allowed to take a life for someone they love, even if the latter one often crosses their minds on different instances.

but Jason? it is all he stands for — to do the job others won't. to protect victims (like him), so they would never toss in the sleep, wondering when their abuser will return for them (like he does). his love language is to screw himself over for those who he loves — to sacrifice all the things he owned and even those he could never have to begin with.

so. yes.

Jason would do that.

maybe it is Dick stepping up to protect Jason during the shotout and fearing that he overstepped again, like with Joker. or maybe it is Tim and Damian, who could do anything else but use a gun in the drastic situation.

or maybe... maybe it is Bruce.

maybe he just overdid himself in a fucked up state of mind — so Jason steals the last breath from a victim, so Bruce wouldn't consider himself to be the one, who broke his own code. and then they stare at each other because Bruce realises what just happened. and they both know.

but as usual... it doesn't change anything, does it?
