I think often about how the Eight Doctor described Gallifrey in the Doctor Who movie (1996). His tone excited as he remembered his home; memories of him and his father, memories of a beautiful sky “dancing with lights” on a “warm Gallifreyan night”
All spoken with the biggest smile on his face, an expression filled with so much love.
And it’s sad to think that it was that very same face that had to watch it all burn. The same face that had to bear being rejected by those in need, leaving him unable to fulfill the promise he had made when he chose his name. The same face that had to kill who he was in order to abandon all that care and love and compassion within him for “the better”.
I wish things would’ve turned out differently for him.

i feel like the camp of the devil’s chord would have worked so much better if this wasn’t now a super clean hi def high budget disney show with great effects and quality. right now it just feels too corporate for the camp to ring true

Even accounting for how erratic their behavior can be normally, the Doctor gets extra bonkers after regenerating. ¡¡Reblog and explain your pick in the tags!!

Just watched the 1996 doctor who tv movie and this shit is fantastic!! No idea who the target audience at time of release was because it’s way too 90s US blockbuster for classic fans and way too based in lore from a low budget sci fi tv programme for US blockbuster fans plus also it’s kind of insane. The Master is a translucent CGI goo snake? Grace Holloway commits medical malpractice in a full formal gown? The Doctor manages to find a room full of broken mirrors and baby dolls in a morgue? And the Tardis looks absolutely stunning too like the wood panelling? Gorgeous! I always drezz for the occasion? Cannot recommend this film enough to lovers of Camp.

catch me watching the 1996 doctor who movie. I’m partially convinced they just let Paul McGann walk around and do whatever for most of those scenes. The time has never moved so fast. I’m so confused. This is fantastic and the pinnacle of doctor who and also like terrible. It’s great. What is this.

all he had was no memories, a party city costume, borrowed shoes, too much chemistry with his costars and a dream. and he damn well made it work
