I was up watching Spiff play the release the whole time it was so silly

MAYBE I'M FUCKED UP, BUT

If we take as a basis that the protagonist is someone P.W., then you can come up with any decoding of his name.

But what if he's White, just like Dr. Bruno White, who sawed Harley Sawyer for organs? IT'S JUST THAT IF we assume that this is his son. SAWYER HAS LITERALLY EVERY REASON TO HATE HIM, from the fact that he ran away, disappearing for 10 years, to his family ties, to the fact that he was involved in some data leakage.

But, LET's SAY, of all the doctor's subordinates, he was the smartest, did not threaten to kill/displace him and didn't show off his connections in the company, on the contrary, he hid his connection with his father.

But, nevertheless, LET's JUST IMAGINE that White Jr. isn't going to follow his father's path, but on the contrary, he is going to correct his mistakes and MAYBE give Dr. Sawyer a semblance of life.

And here, both Sawyer and White Jr. may agree that the company should not continue to exist in its current form. They've ALREADY worked together, but now their project is MUCH bigger.

Но что если он Уайт (White), прямо как доктор Бруно Уайт, который попилил Харли Сойера на органы. ПРОСТО ЧТО ЕСЛИ допустить, что это его сын. У СОЙЕРА БУКВАЛЬНО ВСЕ ПРИЧИНЫ НЕНАВИДЕТЬ ЕГО от факта, что он сбежал, пропав на 10 лет, и до его родственных связей, и того, что он занимался некоторым сливом данных.

Но, ДОПУСТИМ, из всех подчиненных доктора, он был самым смышленым, не угрожал убить/сместить и не выебывался связями в компании.

Но тем не менее, ПРОСТО ПРЕДСТАВИМ, что Уайт младший не собирается идти по пути отца, а наоборот, собирается исправить его ошибки и МОЖЕТ БЫТЬ вернуть доктору Сойеру подобие жизни.

И тут, что Сойер, что Уайт младший, могут сойтись по мнении, что компания в текущем виде продолжать свое существование не должна. Они УЖЕ работали вместе, просто теперь их проект ГОРАЗДО масштабнее.

Eyyy wanted to ask ya something. Do you think DogDay was an adult/employee that learned the phrase "fuck around and find out" when discovering the things that happened at Playtime co. and got turned into a bigger body but loosing their memory in the process (proven to be possible in the official vhs tape of the bron experiment),

or was he a child who was selected as an experiment? Idk, it's just something I think about a lot, but I don't see many people discussing it lol

funny enough I actually have seen quite a few people discussing that topic....the issue is that it's- complicated.

The only real proof people have for Dogday being an adult is that he shares the same VA as a previously named doctor, in a VHS known as Dr. White. Unfortunately, we are unable to use this method to confirm identities for characters, because it's been shown that just because two characters share the same VA doesn't mean they're the same: The biggest example of this being Poppy and Stella Graybur.

Stella and Poppy share the same VA, so many people believed they were the same person in the beginning- but Chapter two and three revealed that Stella was working as a Playtime Co. employee for a VERY long time, much longer then the initial creation of the Poppy Doll. The two simply just do not lineup timeline wise- and many more people believe nowadays that Poppy is actually the adopted child of Playtime Co.'s Founder.

This big contradiction puts a HUGE hole in any theories made using VAs as proof: Especially the one about Dogday, due to the fact that this is the only proof people who believe he's an adult have- but to their credit, there is NO proof he's a child, except the expected outcome of the fact that with Catnap being a kid- it's likely that all the critters were children just based on circumstantial evidence.

In my Angel AU, Dogday is in fact an older kid, but only because that is the route I personally went with. I don't know which one is more likely.

Concept: Poppy playtime X Bungou stray Dogs crossover.

Where Atsushi was one of the kids from Playtime Co’s on-site orphanage. He’s the only one that escapes the Hour of Joy and spends years underground, imprisoned and starving.

Until one day he makes it up to the surface. Atsushi runs as fast as he can thinking one of the toys, a giant white tiger is chasing him.

Only to learn that oh…no he was the tiger. He was one of their experiments, one that could successfully transform from child to toy.

All because of Dr Tatsuhiko Shibusawa also known as the Doctor.

But while Atsushi might believe he was the first of his kind, he’s not.

Dazai realised what he was because of his past partnership with Chuuya, who was another escaped. He played a role in the Hour of Joy and managed to escape when it happened.

Leading him to Suribachi city and the Sheep finding an amnesiac boy that didn’t even know what bread was.

But unlike Atsushi who was the perfected version of toy and human becoming one, Chuuya was incomplete.

He was deemed a failure because while his power was immense. If he spent too long in toy form he would loose control and would attack the scientists.

While Atsushi was less powerful but easier to control with the Red Smoke.

The Agency take him in and devise a plan along with the Port Mafia to take Playtime Co down for good.

But it’s not so simple.

Because every organisation has its rats and Playtime is no different.

🚨Poppy Playtime Chapter 4 spoilers!!🚨

Okay, so, Chapter 4 is awesome and I absolutely loved it more than Chapter 3! I got jumpscared several times watching the gameplay, the boss fights and chase scenes were really good and terrifying, and I really like Doey a lot more than I thought I would. All the characters in chapter 4 were great and I was mind blown by what has already been revealed and the fan theories that became true!

Also, The Doctor (aka Harley Sawyer) was betrayed and transferred by Leigh Pierre, Dr. White, and other scientists and Higher-Up Employees, which I don’t blame them and understand why they put his consciousness into an AI and control him to do what he was told to do against his will.

Harley Sawyer is an awful person who has no compassion and does not care about anyone but himself. He only cares about his projects he created and using and hurts the children/experiments to make perfect Bigger Bodies like Boxy Boo, Huggy Wuggy, and other Bigger Body toys. He literally cause so many incidents and the mistakes he made by letting his creations to cause trouble and lets Boxy Boo eat people in the Theater, while Pierre and the others have to fix and clean up his mistakes for him. He even refused to listen to the employees and the Higher-Ups.

He really deserved to be trapped as a machine and backstabbed by Pierre and the others. That’s what he gets for being an a**hole to everyone.

I felt so bad for poor characters who were once children like Doey and Poppy. They’ve been through so much pain and trauma, trapped underground in the Factory for so long. I understand both sides of Poppy and Doey. Poppy wants to burn everything down that Sawyer, the Higher-Ups, and the scientists have created so that no one will know and continue their work to turn humans into living toys. While Doey agrees and understands, he doesn’t want to destroy their home and wants to protect his friends, because they are family to him.

Plus, The Prototype is right about why Poppy and the other toys can’t leave the factory. Why? Well, how would the people on the surface react if they saw Living Toys? They couldn’t just leave the factory and have the public find out about the experiments, nor can they live a normal life again. Poppy and the others would just be locked up in the cage as experiments again and other people will turn into toys too.

I also cried and felt sorry for Doey. He was once a little boy named Jack who fell into goop thing in the factory, turned into real-life Doey, and was tortured by the Scientists who experimented on him.

They gave him so much pain, he ended up killing his parents and tried to kill the Player out of rage, after losing all of his friends in the Safe Haven. He blamed Poppy and the Player and let his anger get the better of him after he transformed into a giant, horrifying creature. He had such a tragic backstory who was trying to be good, to save his friends, and just wanted to go home. He was hurting so much, and the hurt made him angry. I hope Doey rest peacefully with his friends and his parents.

After listening to all VHS tapes in chapter 4, it has finally been revealed that Poppy is Elliot Ludwig’s daughter and Ollie is the Prototype who mimicked his voice to trick Poppy and everyone else for years, to stop her plan from burning the Factory down, and take Poppy back to her case. The fans were right and I had a feeling that Ollie is the Prototype the whole time after Chapter 3, since he can mimic anyone’s voice to trick everyone, including Poppy.

I’m honestly scared to see what the Prototype really looks like in the next chapter. He might look more terrifying than we thought, and I’m starting to wonder if The Prototype is Elliot Lugwig. One of the tapes shows how much Poppy hates the Prototype and misses her father dearly. While I don’t know why the Prototype wants Poppy and why he wants her to “come home”, I began to think that maybe The Prototype and Lugwig are NOT the same person. But if they are the same person, maybe he didn’t tell Poppy that he is her father yet, I could be wrong. We’ll just have to wait and see in the next chapter.

And the theory about “Oh, Poppy is evil and is going to betray us after we succeed with her evil plans” turns out to be wrong, which I’m glad that wasn’t the case because I do like Poppy and understand how scared, sad, and angry she is. Doey and the others were mad at her and thought she just left Safe Haven, but she was searching around the Factory to figure out a way to stop The Prototype and The Doctor/Harley Sawyer until she was captured and locked up in the case with Red Smoke by The Prototype. So this confirms that she is NOT evil and does care about her friends, including the Protagonist/Player.

But she did betray the Player and Kissy Missy by running away and leaving them behind. She is a coward, maybe even selfish, but I think it’s more complicated than we thought and we must remember that she is still a young child. She’s been through a lot when the scientists repeatedly remove and put back her insides over and over again to figure out what made her to create more Bigger Body toys. She was also traumatized during The Hour of Joy and The Prototype scarred her for life, probably worse than what the scientists did to her. You can feel Poppy’s emotions, her pain and fear and having panic attacks. She is scared and traumatized, not knowing what to do, and I understand why she runs away.

I also love that Kissy Missy still remains kind and a loyal friend. Even though the plan got ruined, got tricked by the Prototype when he used Ollie’s voice, and Poppy left them, Kissy still stayed loyal to her allies and tried to save the Player from falling. She is my favorite character in Poppy Playtime, and HUGGY WUGGY IS BACK!! He’s still alive and has finally returned since Chapter 1! I’m looking forward to see more lore of Poppy Playtime, and hoping to see a Huggy Boss Fight. Can’t wait to see more in Chapter 5.

Have an AU of an AU where instead of becoming Snoozy Woozy, Grey lives and becomes the player in Poppy Playtime. In the OG AU and this AU, DogDay is Dr. White, a scientist we meet very briefly in the tape about Samuel Lee's Last Day. I went with Dr. White as DogDay simply because there's a children's book about a dog named Doctor White :3

Poppy playtime chapter 4 new trailer :

So you know how the safe haven drawing is basically Doey’s arms and a bunch of crying -er- creatures? Within him? What if similar to the prototype he can assimilate certain toys or souls into himself as well when he beats the shit out of us at the end. But instead of the actual physical pieces like the prototype, it’s just the ego of the monsters, the children’s, worker’s, whoever. Truly a safe haven. Pure ego death. Either way, I can imagine him as a character that was a bit more sane before this, and the underground had a civil war for food between The Doctor, names names names, and all the other monsters living there, and maybe he started assimilating the ones fallen in battle into himself to keep them alive, and he became more wonky and more screw loosed, something like that. Maybe he’ll pretend to work under the doctor, while actually gathering more souls for his body, perhaps he’ll use us since so far no big notorious name survived long after an encounter with us, to try and take the Doctor for himself. Like, “hello friend, follow me, here’s our really cool place, but do you think the Doctor sucks? Me too ^_^ we should totally kill him” and then after (boom) we kill the Doctor (bam) “oh thanks friend, anyways I’m gonna kill you now. Ur kinda dangerous lol.” I’m probably very off, but it’s a fun thought to have, right?

Also, I might be looking too deep into this, but the end text is transitioned with a very Doey-esque manner, before glitching rapidly to white (reminiscent of Harley), like fighting for position of the main attraction/owner of “safe haven” are we about to be thrown into the middle of a war between poppy playtime’s unfortunate souls?

Sweet dreams are made of screams: a Catnap Fanfic.

Trigger Warning:Blood mention,implied suicide,psychological horror,implied torture,revenge.

All he wanted was to fall asleep... to close his eyes and disappear, just like a feather on a wing, like a candle about to burn out.

He simply wanted to stop hearing that damned dog call his name, simply watch as those creatures he was born with were taken from his life. He wanted to tear out their voices, let his rage die, and lie there on his cradle of moonlight, resting well.

And maybe... die later.

Let heaven and earth be stained with poppy red, and his vision turn to pale lilac, to die silently at the claws of his master and almighty god. For the purple feline, it would be a one-way ticket, far from that damned hell he once, in his now-lost childhood, considered home. Playtime Co. was nothing more than a nauseating, repellent prison. Adults saw the buildings and heard laughter, but the poor tortured souls like him only heard cries.

During the day, Catnap played with the children like a circus bear, trapped in an artificial facade alongside his companions and those odious smiling anomalies that to him were nothing more than freakish intrusions on his peace.

His hatred for that damned mangy dog and the rest of those colorful animals had become the reason for his obsession. They didn't want him. He knew that to Bobby Bearhug, Hoppy Hopscotch, Kicken Chicken, Bubba Bubbaphant, Craftycorn, and Picky Piggy, he was just a weakling who should never be awakened.

When Theo was still there, he could hear it—a voice in his head that promised him love, mercy, and protection. The doctors in the factory thought he was delusional, maybe just an imaginary friend. It had told him it was like those superior beings in which adults and other children believed, a prototype of God. No body, no light.

He trembled when it spoke, assuring him that he would feel nothing once he fell.

Now that he was that creature with the eternal smile, nothing could wake him.

Sweet dreams were what Catnap lived for, his furry body curled up on that golden moon that hung from the ceiling, just like his purple tail. His eyes remained closed, the bones of his spine embedded in his thin back rising and falling as he tried to sleep. Sweet dreams for him were made of screams, of the pleas of those employees in white coats who destroyed his body and with millions of needles, broke his bones and stitched him together into that hideous circus freak. It was the only thing he thought about when the sun set and the night crept in through the glass roof above the nursery. The cries and screams of those dreaming orphans were his lullaby.

Sometimes, when he started to snore, he could hear his God, his leader, speaking to him, assuring him that everything would end, that he just had to obey, just had to wait. Soon, he would give the order, and with the others, they would start an unrivaled feast, a revenge for all those tears and for that day when they stole his humanity. And under his command, Catnap would lead them.

However, that night, those smiling friends didn't seem interested in closing their eyes and sleeping. From his bed inside the waning moon, his ears could catch Dogday leading the pack in laughter as they rolled on the ground to play. He tried to ignore them and let himself be carried away by the darkness, but it didn't work. They were starting to drive him mad.

Slowly, he stretched out his thin paws, and his claws began to tear at the sheets. He suddenly jumped to the ground, and once there, he let out muffled meows. He started to walk toward where the smiling creatures were, who were enjoying the night so much they didn't notice his presence. The blonde teacher and one of her many sisters were sitting on a bench, resting from grading papers. As they ate a cheesecake made by their own students in another sister's cooking class, Miss Delight froze when she saw the feline pass by without noticing her or her sister. She could hear his cold growl as he headed toward his prey, which only made her drop everything, grab the other teacher by the arm, and rush into the school as fast as possible.

On the small hill, the red bear and the pink pig were tickling each other, scratching unintentionally as they tumbled over one another. It was nothing but laughter and fun, a perfect moment to release the stress after a day of work. But that session of joy ended abruptly when their bodies were covered by a dark and menacing shadow. The two looked up, feeling whatever they had in their chests sink deep. The rest of the creatures turned to see, their smiles withering. They called his name, but when they got no response, they began to beg for forgiveness and mercy for interrupting his nap. Now there was only terror. DogDay remained still as he watched his old friend there.

Picky Piggy got up as best she could and ran off to join the other smiling creatures... Bobby, however, as she tried to stand and run too, felt thick, sharp claws pierce her leg and pull her toward the purple feline. Warm dark crimson spilled onto the grass, a tiny, sharp whimper escaping the bear's lips as she now crawled like a worm on the ground, silently pleading for her freedom with tears.

Catnap looked at his dear colleagues for a moment before using his other claws to grab the bear's head and lift her, bringing her closer before a thick cloud of red smoke came out of her abuser's mouth, and all that was left were the desperate cackles that ended in screams.

If the employees passed by that path, they might find him resting comfortably among the bodies of the smiling creatures, who, by giving him peace to sleep, now found themselves in their dreams, crying in horror as they faced their most terrifying nightmares.

Denny is shocked seeing the mini Nightmare Critters, remembering how he never officially presented them to the board members.

So, how was it possible that so many of the mini Critters and that large Baba were already created?!

The whole point of Denny sitting out from the meeting that day was because he didn't want to have any more poor children forced through those terrible experiments based on his toy designs 😰

The Doctor wanting to dig the knife deeper into Denny made it a point to tell him how naive he was that the company didn't already had access to his design notes and sketches. That the meeting he was supposed to go to was more of a formality or rather a test. Denny wasn't performing as they wanted and was showing signs of being a liability to the company. So the meeting was his finale chance to show he could be cooperative.

I had to redo my oc Zeus for poppy playtime.

Reasoning was I wanted to try something different with him. So here’s his new bio.

Name: Zeus or 777

Species: long legs/Ragdoll

Age: 21

Sex: Male

Physical Description: A short 2 foot ragdoll with black hair in a ponytail. Has blue eyes with one being severely damaged. Wears a casino type suit with red sleeves, blue shirt and yellow pants. He can mimic radio voices. He has four arms with squeaky toy sounding paw pads

After the hour of joy: clothes are very bloody and he’s torn in certain places. His one eye is messed up so he’s basically blind in one eye.

Rage/Hour of Joy mode: claws on his hands, his eye go all wide and unfocused ( like mommy long legs) His voice sounds like a broken radio. His smile turns into a wide grin. He also can stretch and will attack and lunge at anyone like an angry spider.

Bio: To make the factory a relaxing place for the executives and higher up, The doctor created Zeus, a long legs/ragdoll toy trained and given a chip implant that will give him the skills of a bartender, card dealer and skills to be the perfect pet for the higher ups. He stayed in a secret area of playtime co called “ The Lounge” where there is a gambling table, a pool table, a tv, couches, a few chairs and a bar lounge. Zeus was never allowed to interact with anyone else and had never met any other toys.

Personality: Zeus at first was very obedient and had to live by a certain standard to keep everyone happy by acting confident and always smiling. But deep inside he’s a sweet, naive toy who has no idea how the world works outside the lounge. He loves the radio and loves Broadway. He has no idea that other toys are alive but he has heard gossip. Before the hour of joy, he was very nervous and was very obedient. He depends on them for everything and has learned to be very obedient. But since he has the mind of a child was as curious and he followed the doctor out once and for that he had his mouth sewn shut for a week. He was silenced and the radios in the area were his only source of comfort. He also will watch vhs tapes of movies the executives had of old black and white movies.

Skills: can mix up to 10 drink mixes, knows 5 languages, can cut hair in 10 different way. Knows 5 different adult card games. Knows card tricks. Can mimic voices in a radio voice. Can dance, sing and is an Acrobatic. Can stretch about 10-15 feet

In Rage or Hour of joy mode:

He becomes a more unhinged and less intelligent person. He seems to stalk and attack like a psycho. He also though seems to only attack like he’s always in self defense. He rambles about “not meaning to” “ he’s sorry” and “ I had to eat” hmm that last one’s off but oh well.

His after hour of joy movements: he hides in the shadows and will have the radios on high. He can mimic radio and can sound like the doctor, Pierre and even Ludwig. He uses it to scare him. The lounge had plenty of ledges and dark places he likes to hide. If you turn off a radio he will screech and say “ I won’t be silenced.” It implies that the radios are his voice.

Jack the Bunzo: Jack came into Zeus’s life accidentally when he was running from Catnap. He found Zeus and saw that despite Zeus being strong and dangerous looking was a toy who was lonely and needed a friend. He didn’t take advantage of Zeus but instead became is older brother and protector. He knows Zeus is gullible and naive to the horrors that happened at the factory so he keeps it that way.

ASR Stella Star (Stardust)

The first Stella and the original, is in the "A Star's Reascend AU" created by @numberonepeacock

Stella is the ninth Smiling Critter created from a young woman in her 20s who had psychic powers. She is an excellent singer and dancer. She uses her voice to sing the orphans to sleep.

She is a Peahen but her color pattern and tail looked very much like a Peacock's. The blue feathers on her body are much lighter than normal peacocks and has a white dust-like pattern on it, making it look like she has stardust on her. Her tail is almost the same; the blue and green are a lighter color and she has the same pattern, however in the “eye” of the feather were white stars, and smaller stars were around them decorating her tail so if she opened her tail up it would look like a galaxy.

She wears a navy blue dress that reaches her knees and has a yellow lace pattern on the end of the hem with stars over top of it. The top half of it has the same pattern while the straps are yellow. She also has on a cropped sweater with poofy sleeves that is a darker shade than her dress. Unlike Kickin, who has wings for arms, she didn't have wings as arms but actual arms like the other Critters. Another difference is instead of white irises she had bright blue. Around her neck is a blue four-point star crystal pendant that can glow in the dark or glow when she sings.

In her past life, she was a young woman in her 20s who had psychic powers which she used to help the police find missing people and works with private clients. One night she gets a call from a new client who wants her to find a child that Playtime CO had said was missing. This child was one the client had taken care of and she was worried about the kid.

She entered the factory and while she didn’t find the kid she did find out about the factory’s secrets. However, before she could leave she was caught and taken to be experimented on. Doctor Sawyer wanted to see if her psychic powers would carry over. Once she was turned into Stella Star they constantly tested her to see if she had them but it seemed like she didn’t however that was because she didn’t show them her powers.

Thanks to the Poppy Gel, they mutated her powers into her being able to almost manipulate reality and has some spirit-like powers via a mysterious blue smoke she can breathe out of her mouth much like Catnap’s red smoke. However, she can only use these powers when she sings. The only ones who know about these powers are her boyfriends, Dogday and Catnap.

When the Hour of Joy happens Stella is believed dead after an accident, Dogday is captured and kept in a cell below the Playhouse by Catnap who wants to protect him from harm and not lose him like he lost Stella. As for the other Smiling Critters and Mini Critters? After Dogday was captured the Smiling Critters board themselves up in Home Sweet Home (but why can’t Catnap get in? Why can’t he break the wooden boards) before each one dies one by one in the four years (or did they?)

And the Minis? 30 of them along with five of the Named Minis. The other Minis and the four reminding Named Minis joined Catnap’s side, taking over the Playhouse.

10 years after the Hour of Joy, The Player enters the factory and once Catnap hears of their victories against Mommy Long Legs and Huggy, he believes a new change has been presented to him.

However, after the human takes his precious Sun with the help of the Phantom who acts as the messenger for Poppy about what goes on in Playcare.

As the human completes each quest they learn more about the history of Stella Star and what really happened in the background. The only question that rings through their mind throughout it all is: Does Catnap really have control over Playcare or is this Phantom the real ruler of Playcare?

HIDE & SEEK

Poppy Playtime OC Fanfic | escape | flight | hiding

Summary: After quitting his nightly janitor job at Playtime Co., Ed takes a break to rest and recuperate. One night at 3 am, he gets a distressing call that sends shivers down his spine..

Note: I wrote this out of the sheer terror I had after watching multiple playthroughs of Poppy Playtime. I have never, EVER felt so scared of a toy in my life than Huggy-fuckin-Wuggy. Also, this is the first time I’m doing a sort of chase scene through the telephone so forgive mt for the poor execution (spoilers lol).

Now is not yet your time.

Get up.

I can hear the sounds of screams ringing in my ears, the eyes of a thousand toys that I swear are following my direction every time I look up from sweeping and scrubbing the floors. Each night, I can sense those eyes, those little beads of white on black that seem to want to break out of their manufactured boxes.

The worst I’ve ever seen of it were the employees that seemed to never have come back after their shift. The boss says that it was because they weren’t able to comply with factory standards, but I know that’s not true. Something’s being hidden here, but I don’t know what.

A week after I resigned, I kept some close contact with my buddy Eric. He’d always be on the shift after me, and everytime we switched places, I could see him looking terrified. I even tried talking to him about it, but all the time, he says that it’s nothing. It’s just our nerves getting the better of us.

Bullshit.

Sometimes, in the middle of the night, I would wake up, screaming, but I don’t know what it is I saw. Something.. Like teeth. Rows and rows of razor-sharp teeth, threatening to swallow me whole.

I think I need to see the doctor. But.. I don’t know what to tell ‘em. That I’m crazy? That some kid’s factory’s messing with my brain? I don’t know. Maybe I’m just overthinking this. I never picked up a rosary before but I think I’m gonna try doing what my mom used to do. To calm me, maybe fall asleep.

I’m suddenly awake when my home phone rings.No one ever calls me anymore, but that’s my fault. I needed some time for myself. I wonder who it is. I stretch my limbs, bleary-eyed, looking at the digital clock on my bedside before getting chills down my spine.

3 am.

Holy shit.

The phone kept ringing, and suddenly I felt the urge to ignore it. I don’t want anything to do with this anymore, if it’s from the factory. Fuck that.

I go back to bed, trying to shake away my fear. I count sheep, wanting to forget. But the damned phone keeps ringing. It’s cold, but I’m sweating in fear. I don’t want anything happening. If I keep ignoring it, it’ll surely end the call, yeah?

But it doesn’t. The sound of the phone drones in my ear, and maybe after a minute, it still keeps on going. Fuck. If I don’t open it, I might wake the neighbors. I put my hands over my face and sigh, turning towards my bedside. 3:03 am. Fuck. Witching Hour. Fuck..

“Damn it, damn it, damn it..!” I reach out and put the receiver up to my ear.

“H-Hello?”

There’s no response.

“Hello, who is this?”

Still no response. But I heard some sort of thump? Like someone banging on metal. It makes me think about the many vents and conveyor belts of the factory, where the multitude of plastic limbs and eyes would accompany my once-nightly cleanups. Fuck. I should stop thinking about them.

“Hey, it’s 3 am and I would love to get back to sleep. Uh.. who’s calling me?”

This time, I could hear some static, and someone.. Breathing? I don’t know. Maybe it’s just my brain messing with me again. But I know something’s not right. Something’s happening, and I can feel the fight-or-flight response. I gotta hang up.

“Hey, is this a prank call? I’m hanging up. I don’t have time to play around.”

“HELP. HELP.”

Suddenly there’s a voice on the other end, somehow disembodied and hollow? Like speaking through a can. My hands are sweating. I think I know who’s talking.

“E-Eric? Eric, man, is that you?”

Another thump, and I involuntarily shake. I sit upright, hyperfocusing on the call. I could hear footsteps (were they footsteps?) at the other end, and erratic breathing.

“Ed! ..fuck..!” there’s a sound of banging on the other end, and some blood curdling scream from the distance. I’m panicking. I think I’m panicking. “Ed.. listen! You’ve got to fucking help me! Th-the--” there’s another scream, and this time it’s nearer. I curl my toes, and close my eyes, trying to control my breathing. There’s a squeak of some hinge and a small thud.

“Eric, what the fuck is happening? Are you in the factory?!”

“Yeah!” He breathes erratically, but keeps his voice down.. “Dude, look, I don’t have much time, I’m hiding in one of the employee locker rooms, you know? The one on the second floor?”

“Yeah, yeah, I hear you. Listen, what the fuck is happening there?”

“Can you come pick me up, man? The fucking.. The fucking DOLL, it came alive! Oh god--”

There’s a thump on the other end, and skittering. There’s a moment of silence and Eric whimpers on the other end. I think he’s still in the locker, trying to not make a sound. I’m taking my wallet, trying to look at the floorplan I still have of the factory, then I take a pen from my drawer. I look at the second page and I nod to myself. I think I know where Eric is.

“Listen, Eric. I’m a state away from you. Even if I drive now, I won’t be able to make it there in two days. Buddy. I’m sorry, okay?”

Eric whimpers on the other end, and I swear I can imagine him gritting his teeth as there’s a sudden loud THUMP, and I’m standing at the edge of my bed. I’m shining a light on the map and I’m drawing a line, maybe the nearest exit possible. I think I know where he can go.

“Eric, my man, you there?”

“Y-yeah, I’m here. It’s uh..” there’s a slight pause, “it’s all quiet now. I think. I’m looking through the slits in the locker.. Oh fuck… why the fuck is there blood--”

He’s gurgling and I think he’s going to throw up.

“Buddy hold it in!”

Too late. I heard the sound of a heave and liquid pouring down.

“Man, look. Calm down. You’re not going to achieve anything from hiding there. Whatever’s pursuing you--” I look at the map again, “it can’t reach you if you get out of there as fast as you can. Alright? I know the way. I still have my map.”

“O-okay. Yeah.. you’re right..”

“You’re on the second floor. Which means you’re probably on the east wing, where the lockers are. There’s a fire exit on your right, if I’m right, that should be unlocked. You got that?”

“Y-yeah.. Yeah..”

“Alright. Go. Now. Be my eyes and ears, I’ll guide you.”

What I assume is the locker door opens, and I can hear Eric whimper on the other end. There’s a little bit of static and I can hear his footsteps. There’s a slight struggle as he tries to open what I assume is the fire exit door and it does, swinging open, really loudly. I cringed, my teeth gritting. Fuck.

“The..the coast is clear.. Um… fuck.. Okay.. uh down?”

“You’re in the fire exit now? Good. Okay, go up one flight of stairs. There’s supposed to be a door there that leads straight to the cafeteria. Then I think you already know from there yeah?”

I hear a flight of stairs and a piercing scream and my heart thumps in my chest. “Eric what the fuck was that--”

“IT’S BEHIND ME IT’S BEHIND ME IT’S CRAWLING UP FROM THE STAIRS OH GOD OH FUCKKKK--”

“RUN! JUST RUN, ERIC!”

I hear Eric’s erratic breathing and his footsteps as he ascends the hallway, and I can hear small pitter-patter of footsteps behind him, and I’m sweating, trying to hold on to the phone and keeping my wits with me. Oh god. I’m in my house, I’m okay. But Eric isn’t. And I’m fearing for his life. His life depends on me. I have to save him. I have to--

I hear a door swinging open and I hear Eric dashing through an open area, I think it’s the cafeteria. I can hear the squeaks of his rubber shoes on the polished floor and all around him are the sounds, distorted sounds of the Playtime Co. anthem on speaker and it makes me want to hang up, but I won’t. I have to help him escape.

“Eric. Don’t look back. Just keep running. Once you get out of the cafeteria, make a quick right. You’ll be at the factory entrance. Just a bit more okay? Eric?”

“Yeah! Oh god, oh fuck, Ed it’s behind me, and it’s MASSIVE--”

“I TOLD YOU NOT TO LOOK BACK! Just keep running, yeah? There should be a double door--”

“ED! OH FUCK, THE HANDS!”

There’s a chill down my spine. The Grabpack. “Eric, you don’t have your Grabpack with you?”

“OH GOD, OH GOD, OH F--”

I hear him screaming as he thumps on something repeatedly, and lastly, the swinging of the big double doors. It’s done. He’s out of there.

“Just keep running, keep running, Eric, turn right!”

“I AM!”

I continue to hear the squeak of his shoes and another thump, followed by another. Eric lets out a moan, I think it’s him. “Eric, bud, what happened?”

There’s sounds of something muffled on the line, intelligible. I don’t know what the fuck that is. I’m gripping the phone tight that my nails are already digging in my palms. “Eric, talk to me!”

There’s only silence. Then static. Then, the line drops. My heart wants to burst out of my chest. I try to dial the number, Eric’s number. I think that’s his phone. Just seven numbers. This is fine, this is fine, but Eric isn’t. I have to call. I hear the dial, but there’s no response. I’m sweating, pacing my room. What doll? What’s chasing after him, could it be..

Then, suddenly, my phone rings. I pick it up and answer even before the first chime ends. “Eric, bud, you ok?”

There’s only static on the other end.

“Eric?”

“Hey, Ed.” I let out an audible sigh of relief, but at the same time, I kept my guard up. The jig’s probably not over yet. “Are you out already?”

There’s silence on the other end. I can barely hear anything. It’s as if it’s muffled. But I’m sure that’s Eric’s voice. “Yeah, I’m free now.”

Free? What..

“You mean, you got out of the factory already? Nothing’s chasing you anymore?”

More silence. My stomach sinks. Something’s wrong.

“Yeah. I’m fine now. It’s all good now.” I think I can hear a smile in his voice.. What..?

“Are you sure, Eric? You don’t.. You don’t sound like what you sounded a while ago.”

“I said, Ed, I’m okay now. You don’t have to worry about me.”

“You saying that makes me worry even more! Eric, if you need it, I can pick you up--”

“It’s okay now. You don’t have to worry about me anymore. Just.. forget it, okay? It was just my mind playing tricks on me again.”

I can feel something’s wrong. I don’t know. I have to start packing.

“Hey, I’m getting over there as early as I can. By tomorrow morning, I’ll be there. Go to the police, report whatever’s happening there, and stay there okay? I can help you. Drive you to your house if you need to.”

“Everything’s been taken care of, Ed. It’s alright now.”

“It doesn’t seem to be that way.”

There’s some laugh, and a rumble on the other end, but it seemed like more of a growl. I stop in my tracks.

“One way or another, everything will turn out for the best, Ed. Goodbye now.”

The line ends, and my phone doesn’t ring for the rest of the night.

It’s morning now.

I’m in my car and I’m driving across the country to head to Playtime Co. the fastest way possible. Eric, or if that even WAS him, scared me. That last line tells me that somehow, something’s happening. And if no one does anything, maybe there would be consequences.

I stop at the front of Playtime Co., the largest factory this side of the state.

I get out of my car, take my supplies, trusty map, and the Grabpack. Somehow they let me have this. A keepsake of fun times, I guess?

I head inside, like going into the belly of the beast.
