trying to think of the Grumbot creation "timeline" since the lore is CRAZY now

so we have:

Original Grumbot, OG Grumbot, Vintage Grumbot, Oldest Grumbot or whatever you'd call it, definitely created by Big Ron

The Mumbintosh?? Could it be a Grumbot variant?? Maybe created by Mumbo when he was a kid with the help of Big Ron??? I like to think that

Grumbot from Doc's and Ren's s8 ending (could be the same guy as s7 Grumbot but I genuinely don't know enough about Doc's and Ren's s8 lore)

Also I wanna point out that Grumbot Prime and s7 Grumbot are basically the same guy except more advanced? Considering that Prime is canonically from an alternate universe where, from what we can gather, Mumbo won the elections

If we look at it like that, then, canonically, the Grumbot AI was created years ago by Big Ron who then taught Mumbo how to create it (they're DEFINITELY relatives in some way), then Mumbo created it again together with Grian, who created the body while he did the AI for their presidential campaign

THAT then splits into 2 different timelines where in one they didn't win, but the other they did, creating Grumbot Prime

This whole Grumbot AI has been around for a very, VERY long time, it seems

i got this little headcanon that andrew likes to sit with kevin when he watches his history documentaries. it starts when kevin's miraculously got access to the tv one evening so he slaps on a documentary after night practice to unwind and andrew is fiddling about in the kitchen looking for a sweet snack and he overhears something about a roman legion (or what have you) and it piques his interest so he stands there watching for a second and kevin doesn't realise bc andrew is soo quiet. after a couple minutes he's invested so he walks over and plops down on a beanbag and kevin almost jumps because he wasn't expecting it and he keeps darting his eyes towards andrew thinking he'll tell him to turn it off or change it but he sits quietly and watches. and then he does it again. and again. sometimes he sits at the window and smokes. sometimes he slumps in the beanbag. but he's suddenly always there and then kevin starts offering up little facts and anecdotes he knows and andrew doesn't ever respond but then one day he offers up a quiet question and kevin answers all excited and andrew can hear the passion in his voice when he talks and andrew will insist it's lame and he doesn't care but it's a change from exy exy exy 24/7 so he'll take it. especially if it makes kevin sound like that. plus it's an added bonus bc it helps andrew unwind too and gives him something else to focus his thoughts around but nobody has to know that.

I do have to ask. Was the docsuma ever planed or did they force themselves into exsistence. did you go into this expecting them to have so much homoerotic energy or did it just spawn b4 bc of how other people went insane over doc and Xisuma (separately)

it was 100% completely genuinely unplanned.

I went from a diehard rendoc shipper expecting them to be lowkey The Ship for dbhc doc (or not making doc a focus character at all, really), to thinking it would make a lot of sense/would be funny if Doc ended up being an android mechanic, to thinking it would be cool if Doc and X were close in this au because they both do android tech, to then being like... oh they can be research partners.... to then planning the [REDACTED] comic to then thinking... oh... what if they cared a lot about each other :(((( and the dynamic kinda stole my heart tbh

Finished reading MULBERRY CLOSE and rewatched/read along afterwards. (Am I doing this for all of s9? Maybe.)

A main reason this is my favourite episode of s9 is its homage to REAR WINDOW, and how it goes a step further and inverts it. Hitchcock's film is done from James Stewart's character's/his apartment's POV and we mostly see what he chooses to focus on (and it cuts/the camera moves accordingly) - but this episode's camera is static, so we, as the audience, have to choose where to look. Staring at the spider crawling into view? You're going to miss hearing the off-screen argument.

Script-wise, this was another episode that had more scenes cut out than I was expecting, such as removing the more overt references to Damon's alcoholism. It's there in the episode, but we get it from Reece & Vinette Robinson, rather than have it spelled out for us. This thread in the sub has some lovely comments about their performances:

Finally I find out the car brand mentioned by Kenny - definitely feeling the cultural gap there. As an aside, I will always laugh at how Val & Damon's car is at the edge of the frame - it's clearly so Reece can seamlessly switch places with his stunt driver.

Val & Damon are so cute 😭. They were working things out and just wanted to live their lives!!

This is one bit I wish they left in...

Something I've come to appreciate about this ep is the amount of improvisation that was done. The parts where Val & Damon argue off-screen are written into the script, but what they are arguing about is not. Imagine the footage of this! Also, the little back-and-forth between Sheila and Kenny as they come up to Val/Damon's house for the first time is not scripted at all - that was definitely ad-libbed.

It's so funny r&s envisioned Sheila's legs dangling from the top of the screen, during the scene where she breaks into the house. Watching back this time I caught the sound of the window closing, at the bit where Kenny tries to distract Damon from turning round/looking up!

This is my favourite bit of the script (and it occurs on Day 9, heh). Watching the scene back, it's not obvious, but there is a second where Damon seems to look straight into the doorbell camera - and I love that this is specifically written in, as if to say to us, "See? We know Damon being a murderer is obvious. Wait till you see what happens next 😉..." On first watch, I was wondering whether Damon was playing this up for the doorbell camera, knowing the footage is recorded - thankfully, I was wrong. It's been a while since I've seen REAR WINDOW, but looking at some vids I think this scene achieves a similar effect of showing something to the audience that the characters don't know about:

It's also heartbreaking to think that this phone message is likely the last thing Val hears from Damon, and her phone message/murder is the last thing he hears from her...

But! A huge smile on my face when I got to this page and found that "You're never gonna get your Tupperware back now, are ya, SHEILA??" wasn't scripted!!

And finally - it's not the same thing, but this was a Mulberry Close I spotted the last time we were in the UK hehe. I think there's also a building in Hampstead Heath called Mulberry Close, but at the time it seemed weird to stop in the middle of a busy sidewalk to snap a pic, so I moved on...
