#do you think fyodor knows about arahabaki?

so before the new chapter comes out and proves me right/wrong, im like 60/40 on if dazai is really dead or not but im leaning towards that he is.
why? because dazai doesnt need himself to live in order for his plan to work; he just needs sigma.
throughout the mersault arc theres been foreshadowing towards this right? like dazai and fyodor said one of them wasnt leaving the prison alive and fyodors been talking about how dangerous a desperate mediocre man like sigma is. dazai knows that if he can keep fyodors attention on him, sigma can probably make it out. if he gets sigma out, sigma will be dedicated to the ada, he knows fyodors ability now, etc etc. i dont know if dazai was ever planning on making it out alive, but i think he took his own death into account when making his plans. he needs a way to win even if hes not in the picture anymore and i think dazai believes sigma can do that. if sigma can make it to the ada and help thwart fyodor, dazai will have done his job
but fyodor doesnt truly believe sigma could ever beat HIM. dazai does tho. he saw the potential in atsushi and he sees it in sigma. fyodors counting on sigma being under his thumb bc he only exists thanks to their page of the book. sigma wants to survive. but now that nikolai has kept sigma alive when he was supposed to be dead (according to fyodors plan) sigmas a lot less likely to follow orders if he thinks itll just get him killed anyway. dazai and atsushi have been hyping the ada up and thats why sigmas allegiances have changed lmao
i also think dazai is dead bc its INTERESTING. we've consistently seen that asagiri doesnt take the boring way out of things. what could be more interesting than having one of your most important characters die? it leaves all of us wondering what could possibly happen next and thats the point!!! thats what makes it fun to read!!!!
now obvi theres still a decent chance he lives. we didn't see that third bullet make it into the wall after all. if thats the case tho, i think theres another twist behind it. id guess its that the cat lady is still alive. it seems strange to introduce a character with that powerful of an ability only to kill her off shortly after. what if she stopped the bullet in fyodors gun and played dead? she could stop time again so the bullet only grazed dazai
throughout this whole story im trying to keep in mind that the second half of that book page hasnt been written on yet. thats a pretty big deus ex machina. if dazai is dead now but the ada manages to get their hands on the page later they could literally write him back to life AND keep sigma alive
#it could also be that if aya pulls the sword out of bram chuuya activates arahabaki w no one to stop him#do you think fyodor knows about arahabaki?#chuuyas a powerful threat without it but i wonder if fyodor put that together or if he has plans for it#bsd#bsd theories#personal#text#long post#i have more of these i think im gonna post but i needed to get this one out before the chapter comes out#ive got some crazy beast theories yall#and im p sure i know how fyodors ability works#bungo stray dogs#bungou stray dogs

I already did this concept with Dazai in those Hc's so I will not add him in here again.
Tw: Yandere themes, possessive behavior, obsession, delusional behavior, clinginess, manipulation, blackmailing, bribing, paranoia, attempted murder in Nikolai's part, isolation, abduction, death of reader in their previous world

Isekai'd into their world
Nakahara Cuuya
🟠Bullshit! That’s the initial reaction that Chuuya has when he finds out. There’s a limit to how much he is willing to believe even though throughout his life he has seen some things you’d have to witness with your own eyes to believe in them. It is true that there is nothing about your past he has been able to dig up as your life has seemingly started the moment you were discovered by an elderly couple on the streets. You’ve always claimed that you couldn’t remember anything before you where found and since there has been nothing the police was able to find out about your past, they gave up on the case as you were slowly assisted into society. Chuuya doesn’t believe your claims though that you suffer from amnesia. He might be hotheaded but he’s been working for the Port Mafia for years now, has even been made an Executive. The one skill you develop in this position is to get a fairly good read on the person in front of you, on their body language as well as on whether or not they speak the truth or not. So whilst he has no solid proof about whether you lie to him or not, there is this intuition that he has in his guts that there is something you are hiding.
🟠His overprotective and paranoid thoughts tend to spiral so his first assumption is that maybe there is someone after you and that you’re on the run. If that is the case you don’t have to worry. Chuuya can and will provide protection if someone is after your life. The longer you remain silent about your past, the more impatient he grows. Chuuya hasn’t always been honest to you either, especially regarding his position in the Port Mafia. But you needlessly fuel his anxiety as you don’t reveal anything, only feeding his paranoid thoughts as he wonders what you could hide that is so atrocious that you don’t even want your lover to know. Yet when you tell him the truth finally, sensing that he is close to snapping, he gets mad at you. Are you mocking him?! Don’t lie to him now! He doesn’t believe you. He doesn’t believe you until you see yourself forced to reveal everything you know about him. You know about Sheep, about Arahabaki, about the Port Mafia and about so much more. Only then does he believe you. The truth did not ease his worries though. No, instead Chuuya feels betrayed. Betrayed that you have known everything about him from the very beginning.
🟠He can’t hide. He can’t pretend anymore either. What’s the use? You know everything about him. With no facade to hide anything anymore Chuuya grows weirdly aggressive yet vulnerable. He doesn’t know how he should deal with this situation where he had no control over what he reveals about you and what not. It is fucking weird to know that in your world he doesn’t even exist and is instead a fictional character. What do you even think about him when he stands in front of you? Do you even see him as a real person? With really nothing to lose anymore Chuuya just abducts you then and there, unable to come up with another solution on how to handle this situation. Obviously he doesn’t tell anyone else about you though as he himself has to properly come to terms with the truth. As heavy as the feeling of betrayal sits though, there’s also desperation and paranoia. Desperation because he feels like he deserves to find out more about you as well since you already know far too much about him and paranoia now that he understands that you’ve died before in your world. You can’t be fine after all that happened, right? He’s going to help you.
Fyodor Dostoevsky
🍎Fyodor has always deemed you to be someone who stands out from the common crowd, for reasons he doesn’t understand either. Perhaps it is because your eyes perceive what others can’t see as he will never forget his first encounter with you. The glimpse of pure fear in your eyes as you gazed at him, seeing the demon disguised as a man. The way your body flinched away from his touch as he reached out to you, sensing the doom that would befall you the moment he’d feel your body. Only very few people have ever been able to realise him for the higher being that he is and it is the fact that a common sinner like you sees right through him upon first meeting him that makes you special. Fyodor tests his theory out only once by cornering you, giving you no chance to hide behind others as you are left alone with him. The sadist in him is relishing in the untarnished fear he sees in your eyes, purple orbs gazing at you as you slowly move away from him. He doesn’t follow you but he doesn’t have to. You poor thing now can’t run away from him anymore. You’ve dared to catch the devil’s interest and for that you will greatly suffer for Fyodor only knows how to take and destroy.
🍎It is when he figures out that you have no past that you only deepen his obsession. It’s intriguing. No past sins to judge you by, no trace of an existence stained in impurity before you appeared in this city. No matter how much research Fyodor does, he’s unable to figure you out. You’re a mystery to him, to a messenger of God. Oh, it is indeed a dangerous game you are playing. What could you be possibly hiding from him that is so forbidden that not even he can know? It’s like you’re trying to trigger him and it is this lack of control, the inability to cast divine judgment upon you as you are incomplete without a past to hold you accountable for that leads Fyodor to do something he normally never does. He rushes the process slightly, lures you faster into the spider’s web until you are trapped. The first thing he asks of you to confess is your past, the one thing he can’t find out about you. What are you? Are you a sinner or are you something more? No normal human should be able to deprive him of information he can always gather. The time for your confession has finally come, the day of your judgement has at last arrived. Now then you little mouse, confess.
🍎If only you would know how much you fuel his obsession the moment you are forced to reveal the truth to Fyodor. A sinner always pays with death to free them of their sins yet you have already died in your own world before you were brought to his own. You are free, or at least freer, of sins than anyone else on this planet. So before this world can ruin you once more he is going to isolate you, to shield you from the impurities of this world. After all it is the duty of an angel to bring salvation to those who are worthy. Now he also understands why you were so afraid the moment you saw him. What was the first time for him to ever meet you was after all only the first time for you officially meeting him as you had seen him multiple times before as nothing more than a fictional character in your own world. Maybe there is a scientific explanation of how it is possible for you to be transported into a world that was only fictional in your old reality but Fyodor pushes another agenda onto you. Have you ever considered it to be the will of a higher being? Have you ever considered it to be a second chance given to you? Don’t you worry too much. He will help you flourish in this world.
Jouno Saigiku
♦️BadumBadumBadumBadum. The melody of your heart when Jouno finds you one day stranded in an alleyway is certainly a good indicator of the fear and the anxiety currently swirling around inside your mind. Be assured though, he is here to help the little wounded puppy he's found himself right now. You'll just have to tell him who you are and where you are from and he'll get you safely back. That is at least the plan, the only problem is that you refuse his help. Hmm, that is strange. You're acting a bit suspicious, you know? Your little heart is telling him that his appearance seems to have only increased whatever stress you've already felt before. Is there something you're trying to hide from him? Even though his eyes are not able to perceive you, you don't strike Jouno as someone who has done something wrong that would force him to take actions against you. Still, he interrogates you, at least until he has gotten his confirmation that you haven't done anything criminal nor plan to do so. Technically that should be enough yet your heartbeat still hasn't calmed down. He's the reason. You're afraid of him. A reaction that usually only the bad guys have when seeing him.
♦️The Hunting Dogs are heroes even internationally, normally citizens like you rejoice when seeing him. There are still things he'd like to ask you but you actually seem to gather some courage, tell him shortly that he has no reason to keep you trapped any longer since he has gotten his comfirmation. He isn't exactly pleased with the tone you use but he lets you go, though he's still quite dissatisfied with what he has gotten. As if fate is smiling down upon him though he soon has the pleasure to meet you again. You're still as close-lipped as the first time he met you but since he has now figured out where you work he decides to make acquaintances with your co-workers who are far more talkative. He can sense you standing there in the corner, your heartbeat going crazy as they tell him that you've recently started working here and haven't told them much about your past either. So you really just keep it a secret from anyone. That only makes him more curious, you know? With his position it is relatively easy to gather intel on you though it is when he is served with little to nothing that he truly starts realising that you must carry quite the secret around.
♦️That is the kickstart of his obsession as he wants to figure out what it is you are hiding. What is the dark secret you don't want anyone to know about? His only clue lies in you and so he torments you with his visits, constantly attempting to guess what it is you are hiding only to never figure it out. How could he have known that you died in your previous life only to be reincarnated into a world that was purely fictional in your old world? It is after the abduction that you are left with no choice but to spill out the truth and as much as he would like to ridicule you for such an otherwise blatant lie, your heart is not lying. You're actually speaking the truth. And Jouno doesn't know how to reply to that, just staring at you with a furrowed face as if considering what the best response or even best reaction is to the truth he has so desperately wanted to know for so long now. You think that you see a glimmer of unease appearing on his face before he suddenly bends down, his hands grasping your chin. Just how much do you know about him? Even though you are his beloved Saigiku has ever considered revealing too much to you yet perhaps you already know too much, leaving him strangely vulnerable.
Nikolai Gogol
🕊️To Nikolai you have always been entertaining. He has the fondest memories of the both you meeting for the first time, a sentiment you most likely don't share with him. After all it was obvious from the very first encounter that all that you felt for him was dread even though his disguise should have been immaculate, able to fool anyone else. He hides his sinister and twisted character when he needs to do so yet you have seen right through him and it is this seemingly keen intuition of yours that has gotten him so invested in you. Nikolai has never meant for this interest of yours to stay nor to develop into a burning passion that threatens to rip him off the wings he so desperately hopes to obtain. The demon threatening to steal his soul is none other than you, his crooked feelings for you spinning and turning as Nikolai finds himself trapped between two clashing desires. One is to obtain his freedom by murdering you, another one is his desire to keep you and share his sad fate of isolation and oppression due to his own feelings with you. It is a constant inner fight and more than just once has he considered ending your puny life yet there is one factor that ultimately stops him.
🕊️He plans to torment you, to ruin the life you have so carefully built for yourself and the freedom you have in it yet it is the little information he can gather that has him pausing. No family, no friends, no past. You are essentially like a ghost who appeared overnight. He has no past which he could use to chain you down, nothing personal he could hold against you and that knowledge that he can't properly oppress you unless he knows about it torments him and only infuriates him more as if you were indirectly mocking him. Fine, he'll cut the games short then. When you wake up the next time, it is in a little cage with a cheerful Nikolai asking you how you're doing and if you have slept well. That grin only widens and turns into somethin hideous when he sees your eyes overflowing with fear. Yes~ Let that fear corner you and tie you down. Share your suffering with his own. There is still something, you precious dove, that he really needs to know. Only then can he fully drag you down to the bottom of despair with him after all. You need to tell him a bit more about your past. Your family. Your friends. He needs them for his plans. Imagine his surprise when he sees the relief appearing on his face.
🕊️That grin on his face disappears as he realises the truth, even if only for a short moment. It isn't the fact that you are from a different world, it isn't that you died in your previous world either that sobers him down for one or two seconds. It is the realisation that you will always be freer than he will be. There are no family, no friends, no pets he could use to play with and to break you with. There is no information he can obtain about you unless you tell him yet here you are, knowing already so much about him since he was a fictional character in your old world. Half of your wings he will never be able to clip off. For one frightening moment his hands suddenly wrap around your neck and start squeezing down with enough force to have you gasping and choking before all of a sudden he lets go, leaving you to cough for air. When he bends down he has put on that playful appearance once more, whispering to you that it's still too early for you to die. He must say, you managed to catch him off guard for a moment there but that's alright. If things are more difficult there are more entertaining after all. He will make sure to plug every single feather off of your wings until you're just as broken as him.

Best Soukoku Fanfics That Bring Immense Nostalgia!
Someone on YouTube asked for recommendations for Soukoku fics so how could I give up such an opportunity to share some of my all time favourites?! Some of them will make you cry. Some of them will make you smile. But most importantly, the immense wave of nostalgia you’ll feel after reading some of these fics are surreal! I swear, sometimes I wish I’d forget about these fics just so I could rediscover and read them all over again! All these amazing works are on AO3 so please check them out and support the authors! I’ll continue to update this each time I find a new SKK fanfic!
“Overturn even the heavens and the earth” by sssoukoku
Chuuya uses corruption but Dazai’s too late to save him, or is he?
“My skull crown” by YunaYamiMouto
Mori is dead so Dazai has to go back to PM and take the throne as the new PM boss.
“Baby Executive” by BlowingYourMind
Chuuya gets turned into a child and goes through the life stages growing older under Dazai’s care, Dazai manages to develop empathy and a widespread of new emotions around each new stage of Chuuya. (Cross posted on Wattpad!)
“I Was Screaming Your Name Through The Radio” by ElectricSplatter
I’ve not read this yet but it’s really popular and has a lot of positive reviews from what I’ve heard. It’s a rockstar/band AU but it’s super long, probably the longest one here.
“The God and his Vessel” by Churroburrito
Arahabaki lives in Chuuya and they can interact and sometime Arahabaki can come out to talk to people. Arahabaki is surprisingly sweet and overprotective of Chuuya, quite like an older brother. (I absolutely adore Arahabaki and Chuuya’s dynamic in this fic!)
“Silly delusions” by Grinch1234
Arahabaki and Chuuya are one person and Arahabaki is a God stuck in a human’s body confused with how humanity works. He tries on many occasions to convince Dazai that he is a god to only one time in which Dazai actually believes him.
“I’ll always come for Chuuya” by toucheslikethesun
Dazai and Chuuya back in PM and Dazai tries to distance himself with Chuuya cuz of his feelings to the point Chuuya loses trust in him and thinks Dazai’s grown bored of him because of his new friend, Odasaku.
“We Are Never Ever, Ever Getting Back Together (Right?)” by sabiEMr
ADA and PM do an exchange thing where Chuuya works at ADA for a while and Atsushi works at PM. Chuuya tried to get over his relationship with his ex Dazai but it’s not really ideal when you’re now stuck with your ex at his workplace.
“Unexpected” by lemoncandy751
Soukoku get paired together for a project and they hate each other… except when they start to fall for each other. Well that was unexpected!
“It takes two, to create a whole” by X_DRAMA_QUEEN_X
Roommates/College AU. Dazai’s a player and Chuuya gets stuck being his roommate and they absolutely despise each other with a burning passion. Chuuya gets a little too close to Fyodor and doesn’t know who to trust anymore. Is it Dazai playing the mind games to make Chuuya fall for him or is it Fyodor? (It’s over on Wattpad as well!)
“If we can’t run together, why did we from the start?” by amythecinnabunny
Immortal Dazai x multiple reincarnation of Chuuya. Dazai loves each of them differently and learns to find and fall for each Chuuya reincarnation again and again! (I cried too much with the angsty ending of this. Lots of character deaths).
“Inseparable” by milwritescausewhynot
Highschool AU where Chuuya and Dazai have known each other for 12 years and are practically inseparable! They love to pull pranks on each other but when a certain prank of Dazai’s is taken too far that it puts Chuuya’s life at risk they must face the consequences of being apart for each other’s safety (due to Dazai’s guilt) yet still yearning for each other.
“Pretty Little Thing” by wallows_4
Chuuya, an assassin, is assigned a job to kill the Prince of a very wealthy and successful kingdom. Chuuya walks in thinking this will be easy when no threats are present, but the next thing he knows everything is dark. When he wakes up again, he is "interrogated" by three idiots. And the stupid prince is insistent on him being his personal pet!
“Of Libraries and Liberties” by Grinch1234
Chuuya Nakahara is the escaped government experiment known as A5158 seeking refuge as the librarian of his own little library sanctuary. Osamu Dazai is the notorious boss of the Port Mafia and by some illogical miracle, they manage to cross paths.
“Still, Still, Still” by icedlightroast
Actor/popstar Dazai x Rockstar Chuuya idustrial rivals AU! After a public drunken tweet confession professing his true feelings for his rival, Chuuya has no choice but to play the ploy of fake dating his rival, Dazai, to help this mess he’s made in his career. Except Dazai is a completely incompetent asshole who Chuuya can’t help but hate himself for falling for. Besides, there’s more to Dazai that meets the eye.
“Untainted Memories” by serenathea
BEAST! Chuuya shares his memories and emotions with the original Chuuya, and Dazai has to fix the mess and pain he has created.
“I can’t dare to dream about you anymore” by kiroiimye
High school AU where Dazai and Chuuya have been best friends and next-door neighbors since childhood, never seen apart despite their differing, respective lifestyles as the genius class president and the school’s beloved soccer star. Everything is perfect, except for the fact that Chuuya’s been in love with Dazai since forever and Dazai has a girlfriend.
“Always Yours” by Wellthathappened (Cataclysmic_Calamity)
Kingdom + Omegaverse AU where Dazai has been betrothed to Chuuya since they were both children—an arrangement that never particularly interested him—until their wedding night, when he sees the omega’s face for the first time. (EXPLICIT Rating for NSFW scenes but you can skip those if you wish)
“The Shepard and His Shadow” by LynyrdLionheart
Everyone knows the monster in the woods is why the village suffers a lack of resources. It's been that way for centuries. Then Dazai meets the monster, and everything he knew turns out to be a lie.
“The Life We Could've Lived” by Xena_Lemon
A very confused Dazai wakes up in a Highschool AU instead of his usual Agency dorm room. And strangely enough, Chuuya’s the only one who seems to be from his world (him and the mysterious girl who keeps watching them).
“Four Years Ago, Four Years Later” by Nightingale231
Chuuya knows before Dazai, does, really, that the younger man will run. Before anything - even before Mori and the home he has carved for himself in the Port Mafia - he will take Dazai's side where it matters. He hates the mackerel, he does; yet he wants Dazai to follow the goals that Odasaku set for him, because he… (loves him).
“Silver Claws, Silver Tongue” by CandiWolfe
In which Chuuya gets turned into a cat whilst on a mission and (unwillingly) seeks the misfortune of Dazai’s help to not only temporarily nullify the ability but to track down the bastard who dared turn him into a wretched feline. Except doing so is easier said than done. Especially when they’re from a whole new foreign organisation.
“How To Woo Your Husband in Seven Days” by moonlitsorrows
When Dazai accidentally performs a grave accident that angers his precious chibi husband and forces him out of their shared apartment and out onto the streets, he tries his hand at his backup operation of “How to Woo your husband in seven days” with seven articulate plans in hopes that it would finally convince Chuuya to invite him back home. Except each plan just seems to fail and give the redhead an even bigger blooming headache. Plan 7 was the last straw. Maybe Chuuya should finally invest in some long awaited (and deserved) divorce papers after such a hellish week of putting up with that stupid mackerel of a husband’s BS.
“Another Love” by infernaa
Dazai desperately wanted to get rid of everything dark and ugly in his life. Even if it meant leaving his love for Chuuya behind. (Slight Sigma x Dazai).
“When Will You Confess?” by Chuchu_hua
Dazai and Chuuya have been best friends since childhood. One day, Dazai gets himself a girlfriend and Chuuya feels jealous. He then realises he has feelings for his best friend, but doesn’t want to confess. One night under the stars plus the influence of wine becomes one heated make out session. The two continue to have random make out sessions, but don’t think to put a label on their relationship. One school dance is what it took for Dazai to grow a pair and finally admit his feelings out loud.
“Empire of Dirt” by arkastadt
Artist Dazai's bored and lives in a mansion, Mechanic Chuuya's the mysterious garden boy working for his family, and fate brings them together over and over again only to rip them apart. (Super angsty major character death! You have been warned! EXPLICIT Rated for NSFW).
“They said the eyes are the windows to the soul.” by Aprusalve
5+1 fic of Kyouka as she observed Soukoku and tried to guess their relationship and one time she finally decided to ask.
“catch me once, catch me twice” by seedus
Chuuya gets stuck in an ability loop where he’s basically wiped out of existence and Dazai decides to become the Demon Prodigy once more to hunt down the ability user responsible for daring to target his dog and bring him back.
“Something More Than A One Night Stand” by ShireHorses
It was supposed to be a one night stand and nothing more. The last thing Dazai expected was to catch feelings for Chuuya. Much less hurt him so badly by saying the night they spent had meant nothing. It hadn’t mattered when Dazai had said that to all the previous women he’d slept with so why did it pain him so much to see Chuuya cry and act so cold? (EXPLICIT Rated for NSFW scenes).
“build a temple in me” by oursorrows
Dazai wants to surprise his husband, Chuuya, on their one year anniversary, and he can't help falling in love all over again. (EXPLICIT Rated for NSFW scene).
“Tempus Fugit” by Imabukuhoe
Teenage Soukoku time travel to a their future are in for the shock of their life as they witness many (good) things they never expected to happen in their lives- and that they’re gay for each other but we don’t talk about that just yet. (EXPLICIT Rated for NSFW scene! Cross posted on Wattpad as well! It’s angsty midway through but with a happy ending!).
“No Longer Human” by Wolf___Spirit
When a stranger starts stealing people's abilities, the ADA and the Port Mafia team up to figure it out. However, something goes wrong and Dazai loses his ability in the process. The big problem? His ability not only nullified the abilities of others, but also his own emotions. And now, for the first time in his life, Dazai has emotions, chaotic and in turmoil. In the midst of this identity crisis, Dazai sets out to explore the world with Chuuya as his grumpy bodyguard, only to discover that he has never felt so...alive. And then they find out that if they don't find a way to give him back his ability, Dazai will die within two weeks. In a race against time, chaos ensues.
“Twisted Ties” by Cutie_4Me
Serial Killer Chuuya tries to hunt down his stalker who's been stalking him by breaking into his apartment only to be met with an unexpected and (un)pleasant surprise. (Yes- I’m shamelessly promoting my own fic)
"Backstage Pass" by the_most_unhappy
When world-famous violinist Dazai Osamu announces his early retirement, a part of him is sure he will never love music again. He’s in his twenties, but he’s already tired of everything. Meanwhile, up-and-coming frontman Nakahara Chuuya is everything Dazai is not: reckless, smug, and a rockstar. They’re total opposites. They could never fall in love, right? (Implied Sexual Content But Nothing Explicit)
"More like a crash" by Jickas
Chuuya loses his memory and Dazai decides this will be a great opportunity to mess with him. But what happens when he goes a little too far and old feelings begin to resurface?
"Everything or Nothing" by Wellthathappened (Cataclysmic_Calamity)
College AU where Chuuya finds out that the boy he drunkenly made out with the night of orientation is his new roommate. His arrogant, smug, very straight roommate. And the boys are each convinced the other is trying to ruin their life by making them go absolutely insane. But of course, things don't go as planned and they somehow ended up with the typical fuck buddies arrangement. Feelings become more complex and they both soon find that the other is hiding something, a secret that could very much rupture everything in their relationship. (EXPLICIT Rated for multiple NSFW scenes and sexual exploration).
^Based off the song 'Everything or Nothing' by Picture This.
"Lost in Translation (Found in Love)" by archerwrites
Dazai is convinced (forced) to join his friends for a year spent in Paris, and he doesn't know a word of French. Chuuya is just hoping to get through school without any strange encounters, and he doesn't know a word of Japanese. They collide (literally) and the situation devolves from there. They figure it out. Falling in love in Paris is a very romantic cliche, after all. Even if there's a language barrier between them.
“Teenage Dream” by Badwolf36
Dazai sees Chuuya looking at a high school, unsure how he feels that he never got the chance to go since the Port Mafia hired tutors. Dazai, despite mocking him, sort of feels the same. Which is how they end up on a high school rooftop in stolen uniforms, eating melon bread during class hours, and it’s the happiest either of them has been in a long time, even if neither of them will admit it.
“Music To My Ears” by bluemango0406
Dazai is having a hard time coming up with a new piece that has a strict deadline. Lucky for Dazai, his husband, Chuuya, knows exactly what to do to help Dazai out- by getting himself fucked on a piano. (EXPLICIT Rated for NSFW scene!).
“at the sight of you” by taintedlight
Dazai Osamu swears that Nakahara Chuuya is only his friend-with-benefits, until he accidentally stays the night and wakes up to the breathtaking sight of Chuuya in the morning, and all of a sudden Chuuya is more than just his fuck buddy. (IMPLIED SEXUAL CONTENT).
“Our little fantasy worlds” by Izu (soaringivy)
14 year old Soukoku find out they both like writing stories. They also find out they both like reading each other's stories (and that they have feelings for each other too).
“Pay For It” by SevenSnowflakes
Dazai comes up with an ingenious plan to pay for Chuuya's extravagant birthday dinner involving an unsuspecting Atsushi. Will Chuuya find out the truth of how Dazai just so manages to sneak himself out of this one? (EXPLICIT Rated for NSFW scene!).
“We Met Again” by Redd (Blurryface1304)
In which, following the events of BEAST, Chūya finds the book and, with the help of Odasaku, writes an alternate universe where he meets Dazai under more 'normal' circumstances.
“Just Know I loved You All Along” by Kryptonian_in_Winterfell

What if Dazai accidentally kissed Chuuya during their first encounter, nullifying his gravity control? And since then, he has always lied to him, claiming that his ability only activates through a kiss and not simply by touching him. Chuuya never doubted it because Dazai always went to kiss him whenever he wanted to deactivate his ability.

heyheyhey 3 and 4 for the fic ask game ?
*slides in* *puts on peace sign* HELLO TO THE BEST AKU STAN EVER <3
3. Do you have any upcoming WIPs? How fat along are you with them?
QUITE A FEW ACTUALLY! since you're my bsd moot I shall give you a small list of the ones I'm focused on posting at least by January <3
ALREADY BASKING IN THE SUN — kunikidazai canon, slice of life vibes, pining & fluff. teen and up. currently the first scene is written and I hope to have it out next week!
IF WE MUST BECOME SOMETHING — soukoku, dazai & atsushi, festivals, based on that absolutely lethal wan! panel. yk the one. with the fireworks. teen and up. it's half written!! I just need to write out the final scenes and post next week hopefully
WHERE MY PULSE BEATS — soukoku college/high school au, band member!chuuya, soloist!dazai, whatever you can use to describe pre-dark era soukoku to lovers, explicit, I am still plotting this out very randomly
UNTITLED — soukoku canon relationship fix-it, missing scenes vibes, post-dead apple & post-cannibalism arc, explicit. still writing out random scenes to see how well it all fits together </3
UNTITLED — fyozai, vague college au, straight up just discussions of suicide. ghost!fyodor. mature. making notes for it and reading fyozai fic (giggles my fav bsd ship ever) to properly cement characterization!!
4. Tell me about one of your abandoned WIPs. Why did you abandon it?
AHDHHSHD I'LL COPY PASTE MY REPLY TO THE OTHER ASK!!
hoo boy. so, there was a sort of ambitious au I tried to write once—have you heard of twin star exorcists? I'm an anime enthusiast of it since I got pretty frustrated with where the manga was going what with the constant delays and derailing from the main point and the author not staying consistent with details, etc. that being said the anime doesn't fill a lot of gaps that should have been filled.
so while I was still pretty active in the kpop circles—which I probably will go back to soon lol when I feel less icky about the people I was beefing with—I tried to write a TSE au. while it wasn't my brightest idea to transpose a bunch of Koreans onto a Japanese setting, I also underestimated how difficult it'd be to handle all those canon details.
plus, exorcism is very heavily based on Buddhism, specifically in Japan, so I was just like. well am I prepared to potentially insult an entire faith. (research goes a long way kids! don't listen to younger mari) and I just sort of...let it falter and it doesn't even exist in my wip folder anymore </3
(it also involves a forced arranged marriage and the topic of being forced to have a kid, essentially, and I didn't want to genderbend anyone for it, so my solution was a trans man who was at least somewhat interested in having kids biologically one day, like me. once again, I didn't feel I did a very good job of it, and it was a little daunting to write it knowing that i did want at least a semi explicit scene that, once again, reflected me as a person. being a minor at the time, I let the idea go. and I was also much less confrontational at the time so I didn't think I could handle it if anyone was being weird about it lmao—which I fully can and will at this point.
that being said, I did write a fic about a trans man having a kid for a different fandom earlier this year, so I'm linking it if you're interested! very fluffy and family fun. and not explicit. though be warned, it is rpf lol)
HOWEVER!! I've actually considered picking it up again and rebranding as a soukoku au? once again, enemies to lovers, my transchuu agenda, my dazai can be any gender agenda, EXORCIST PRODIGIES, one of the characters has no idea where they came from and has a whole Bit about questioning their humanity. i.e. arahabaki parallels. there are a few gaps I'm trying to work out but it's definitely an idea haha)
fic ask game
#AAAA TYSM FOR ASKING!!! GIGGLES#i have so much fun with these kinds of things#fic ask#fic ask game#fic writing#ao3#mari rambles#ginderfluid

So about Corruption…
Who all knows about Corruption anyway? Like Soukoku was well known for their feats but were their methods and trump card well known?
It’s just something I’ve been wondering while reading through BSD, considering how powerful Corruption is and how it tends to be used as a last resort, especially considering how well Dazai and Chuuya can handle threats without it, both separately and by teaming up. Plus, it doesn’t seem like something they’d want their enemies to be too aware of.
So Mori and the Executives of PM (both past ones and current ones) obviously know as he made that info about Chuuya’s past and the gov experiments Executive level exclusive. Hirotsu knows as implied in the Dead Apple Prologue when Chuuya alluded to it while going to get Dazai back. Clearly, he knew exactly what Chuuya might use to get Dazai back and defeat the enemy. But even if not an Executive, he has seniority and looked after SKK when they were teens.
But does anyone else know in the PM?
When talking about SKK, Akutagawa doesn’t mention it (focusing more on just what the two were capable of when they teamed up and their specialties) and while Chuuya’s power is well known and respected - after all he’s not considered both the strongest ability user and martial arts specialist for nothing - it’s unclear if the full extent of his powers is. Anyone who joined after Dazai left would probably have even less than a clue as Higuchi didn’t even know the extent of Dazai’s work in the PM at first.
Obviously, the government and the higher ups in the Special Abilities Division know as they created the singularity in the first place. Or maybe Ango learned by spying on the PM or if Dazai bragged about (in which case, Oda probably knew too). And then the Division would have known how Chuuya’s powers have developed since he escaped. Not all of the Division knows though as Tsujimura didn’t know the details of it until she saw it, though she was told it might kill him.
I would assume the Hunting Dogs probably know (and Tachihara through them) as it seems they were the successors to the Arahabaki project.
Steinbeck and potentially his allies in the New Guild might know because he actually witnessed it (and Dazai bragged about it) and got to live to tell the tale. I don’t know what he might do with that info though.
Fyodor knows because Ace sold out the PM and he gained the info from him. Though then again, he was also there for Dead Apple and seems to have been lurking in Yokohama for a while so he might have made some observations and guesses about it and Ace’s info simply confirmed it. But Fukuchi might have already known before - both due to his ties to the military and gov and due to being the leader of the Hinting Dogs. It’s unclear whether Sigma and the others in the DOA know the full extent of Chuuya’s ability but they know he’s strong.
And then, finally, there’s the ADA.
I think Fukuzawa (and Ranpo naturally) might know especially from when SKK reunited during the Guild Arc, but it’s unclear if the rest of them know. It’d depend on if Dazai told them or not. I’ve seen people’s opinions go both ways on this.
Sure, Dazai likes to show off his Chuuya knowledge but he only really told Steinbeck because he was there. Though Corruption was a potential danger in the Cannibalism Arc, so maybe he did?
He’s never given up any of the Mafia’s secrets from what we can tell (which is part of what gives him leverage over them) and Chuuya especially is important to him so I don’t see him revealing more than he has to.
So overall, while there are several groups and people who might know about Corruption, it doesn’t seem to be too well known, with usually the higher-up levels of each organization being the ones most likely aware of its existence and uses. At least from what I can tell.
What do you think?

#2 Idea (this will have a part 2)
"Cold from the hatred inside of him"
"They took everything from me! My people, my family, my Memories! How do I even know if I even existed?!"
Arahabaki
When he woke up his head hurt.
It was something similar to a kind of headache but stronger.
When he opened his eyes, getting used to the light after being plunged into immense darkness, the air was white.
The walls were white, there were no windows, and an almost jovial laugh echoed.
A few seconds later the same laughter stopped, giving way to a slightly thicker and firmer one, which resembled an order.
Footsteps echoed in the distance as Sigma began to regain his senses.
His head was exploding with so much information, as if he had just read a huge book.
He blinked a few times, watching the blur of images before him, like colorful clouds or floating watercolors, take shape.
Taking the form of a human.
More precisely the shape of a man.
Orange, black and red.
Oh and gray.
It was a pretty face admittedly.
“Oi. Sigma. Wake up" said the man,at first; then he added thinking out loud "You're already awake" he observed with a frown.
Sigma didn't have the strength to respond or even get up.
His muscles seemed to insist on staying relaxed, sore, not letting him get up.
But he remembered something.
Something very important.
Or rather, someone.
Where... where is Dazai-san..?" he managed to ask, seeing the man's previously relaxed face turn into an expression of discomfort.
"Hell if I know” he murmured in a tone laced with disagreement, looking to the side absentmindedly
Then he sighed, turning to Sigma.
“But Dazai asked me to wake you up, because you were supposed to be awake by now.” he explained with a tone of someone extremely tired "So he can talk to you about the anemic bastard” he added in a significantly softer manner, contrasting with the name he had uttered.
In reality, Sigma did not know any "anemic bastard", so he thought it best to clarify the identity of the person.
He cleared his voice a bit.
“Anemic... bastard...?”
"Fyodor” Chuuya clarified without ceremony and with a blank expression.
Sigma shuddered with some memories on his mind.
Chuuya looked at him for a few seconds, his eyes alert and cautious.
He gave him some time.
“I'm sure you've already noticed but I'm Nakahara Chuuya.”
Sigma wrinkled his nose slightly.
Hw, in fact, remembered the vampire who had tried to kill Dazai.
A skilled ability user.
Back then, thw vampire had red eyes and Nakahara Chuuya'a, the man in front of him, were gray.
This caused him some confusion and Chuuya seemed to have realized this.
After sometime of fixed stares, Chuuya let out a sigh, closing his eyes, before speaking.
“I'm here with Dazai.” he clarified and Sigma relaxed a bit “Not with that... rat." he spoke of Fyodor as if he were talking about detestable scum; then he walked around on a line as he continued talking "Things in Yokohama are complicated, after that bastard used his ability." and like a man who wants nothing more than a vacation, Nakahara Chuuya let out a sigh “There's nothing we can do, though. So-“
“You decided to ask me about information about Fyodor, didn't you?"
A hint of surprise crossed Chuuya's face, but he quickly regained his composure with a brief nod of agreement.
“Yes…” he agreed a bit suspicious, but then he easily continued “Dazai wanted to prevent this from happening, but..." he looked to the side, his eyes distant and knowing "that idiot should already know that he can’t do everything.” and his voice was softer than Sigma had ever heard it, it was almost like a caress.
For a brief moment, Sigma wished someone would talk about him like Chuuya had talked about Dazai.
Speaking of those two... what relationship did they have?
Looking into Chuuya's eyes, something told him it was complicated.
Something told him that he should just let it go.
It was not worth the work.
Chuuya's voice woke him from his reverie, causing Sigma to tilt his head towards him as much as possible.
“Anyway,” Chuuya commented casually* “Dazai is trying to reorganize his thoughts and asked me... then... to help you get up." Chuuya's voice was clearly bored and tired.
He was happy that Dazai was fine and strangely relieved that Chuuya was on their side.
Sigma, still lying down, nodded slightly.
Chuuya returned the gesture with a drawn-out sigh, extending his hand.
"Take my hand," he instructed.
Sigma's gaze was on Chuuya Nakahara's hands, covered in a thin layer of fabric, belonging to his black glove.
Even with them, Sigma felt something strange emanating from Chuuya's body.
Now that he was close to Chuuya something seemed to radiate from the man.
Something that seemed to get under hia skin like pure heat.
But he manipulated gravity, didn't he?
The air that was tightened by gravity was... it was normal, wasn't it?
It wasn't because of... something strange he felt in his chest, something similar to anxiety.
Or because Chuuya's eyes looked like two stormy skies now seen up close.
It wasn't the same thing he had felt with Fyodor, but it was certainly just as intense and strange.
He swallowed, looking away at the outstretched hand.
"Come on, we don't have all day," the man's voice startled him.
And because he agreed, Sigma nodded and reached out his hand.
He found himself staring into Nakahara Chuuya's stormy eyes, as he grabbed his hand.
And then…
He was no longer on earth.
Hw was in a distant place, so familiar and known.
Sigma saw the past of whoever he touched and that wasn't surprising, but when he closed his eyes expecting to be transported to another scenario, that didn't happen.
Instead, a gust of cold, bone-chilling wind appeared, and Sigma opened his eyes surpresed.
“I hate this”
A voice spoke in a deep tone, seeming to have come from the depths of hell.
Sigma looked around, searching for the source of the voice.
He didn’t find it.
“I hate you.” Then a pause “ I hate you, I hate you, I hate you, I hate you”
He found himself unable to retort, but his curiosity only grew as the voice intensified.
“I hate everyone. Everyone!”
And then the words of hate began to be repeated, as if it were a persistent ritual.
The ritual of hatred.
He looked back over his shoulder, where the voice seemed to be coming from.
It repeated over and over again that he hated everything and everyone.
Sigma stepped forward towards the voice that seemed to drop an octave with every step he took.
Finally he came across something terrifying that made his eyes widen in a frightening way.
His lips trembled as if he was cold and his whole body shivered.
He was facing an endless abyss and a frighteningly inhuman voice.
It seemed like a tireless spirit that repeated and repeated that it hated everything and everyone.
He began to say this so many times that Sigma felt his sanity slipping away with each word.
His body shook from top to bottom.
He felt cold, very cold.
His fingers and toes were getting cold to the point of being frozen.
The voice continued.
“I hate this, I hate you, I hate you, I hate everyone”
It didn’t stop.
It would make anyone go mad.
It was hatred at its finest.
It made Sigma nearly scream or cry with fear.
He had never seen something like that.
He wanted to leave this thing alone and just… run away.
Something told him that he should take a step back and get out of that horrible nightmare, but his body simply wouldn't move.
Or did, but it was towards the strange thing.
He was forced to walk a little further and… he stoped.
He couldn't go any further, standing on the edge of the cliff, freezing and trembling as the voice rang out, in a very different way.
It was not hatred directed at the air and the world, but hatred directed at him.
At Sigma.
He was close enough to see the figure he hated like he had never seen before.
It was a four-legged, inhuman and dark creature.
Could it be a demon?
Sigma felt his aura and energy being sucked even though he was far from the creature.
It was all dark, only the dark light but lighter than the penumbra made it possible to see anything at all.
And it was a hideous figure.
It had eed eyes, or black, with sparks, many of around a small but intense and strong figure, almost hit Sigma.
The beast had acted like someone who had been interrupted and was now furious.
And he could feel the anger and revolt of that creature he had never seen before.
Those terrifying eyes directed at Sigma shone and a kind of cruel smile appeared on its lips.
“I hate you” the voice from the depths of hell said, causing Sigma to suck a breath in fear.
An animal roar echoed and the beast leaned forward in threat.
"Get out!"
And before Sigma could even protest and respond with anything, he was thrown back.
It was almost like an invisible metal plate, strong and impossible to push, that carried him through the air, to the place where the abyss began.
The monster's laughter echoed as Sigma screamed.
He screamed in despair and fear.
And the monster laughed.
“I hate this”
It was the last thing he heard before he woke up again.
He was back on land, leaning against a wall and with a great pain in his back.
Nakahara Chuuya's eyes hovered over him in genuine surprise, clearly further away from him than he initially was.
And looking into his eyes, Sigma swore he could see the storm that surrounded the beast.
It made him shiver.
“What happened? I heard screams." Dazai Osamu's voice had echoed and it sounded like a lifebuoy, while Sigma looked tremblingly at Chuuya.
He truly couldn't say a single word, looking at Chuuya as if he were a monster.
He looked at Chuuya and saw the beast's evil smile or the monster's aura…
Admittedly he already had the idea that he was a monster, but no... not like that.
His body was shaking from top to bottom and he couldn’t stop.
"Sigma-kun?" Dazai asked, tilting his head; seeing that Sigma wasn't going to answer him, he looked at Chuuya, "Chuuya, what happened?"
It turns out that Chuuya was just as confused, if not more so, than him.
“I.. I don’t know” he replied slowly putting his hands in his pockets "I grabbed Sigma's hand and suddenly he started screaming and then...”he made a eram gesture with his hand "he was thrown against the wall."
Dazai frowned as he looked at Chuuya, who was not the same man Sigma had seen.
He looked like a child.
Big, gray eyes, beautiful but all Sigma remembered was the hideous monster he had seen.
The red smile, the red eyes.
And the aura of hatred around him.
Sigma trembled again.
Chuuya had probably noticed his constant tremors, because after a long exchange of glances with Dazai, he walked towards Sigma, in order to offer his help.
For unknown reasons, Sigma pressed himself against the wall, trying to get away from Chuuya like a herbivore fleeing from a beast.
"D-don't come any closer!" he stammered with fear in his voice “That thing... that thing is going to kill me!”
Fear is something irrational and if you ever ask Sigma why he is so desperate, he won't know how to answer.
If he had a gun, he would have shot Nakahara Chuuya in front of Dazai without hesitation.
Sigma was never afraid of anyone,
Sure he was afraid of losing his house, his home, of not being considered a living person, but he was never afraid of anyone.
He was only afraid of Nakahara Chuuya, a small man with a carrion beast inside him.
That man had a worse aura than Fyodor had.
He was sure his eyes were screaming for help, because Dazai looked at him almost with concern.
"Sigma-kun?" Dazai's voice had been thin and soft, "It's just Chuuya." as he spoke, he approached the man who had scared Sigma for life with the beast inside him; he almost held his breath when Dazai placed a hand on Chuuya's shoulders, who looked slightly troubled “No one will hurt you-"
The image of the beast's smile appeared in his mind.
“The beast! The beast will hurt me!” desperately Sigma looked at Dazai as if he was his last chance "Get me... Get that... that monster away from me!"
If he had been more aware of the world, he would have seen the way Chuuya's shoulders had twitched under Dazai's hand.
The most powerful man in the world looked like he wanted to crawl into a hole, from the dull look in his eyes.
Distant and past that looked at Sigma reminding him of that hideous beast.
“Get him away from me!” he screamed like a frightened prey.
Chuuya was clearly unable to react.
He had remained silent, not moving next to Dazai who had never let go of his shoulder.
Only after Sigma calmed down a bit, under Dazai's gaze, since Chuuya had looked away, he spoke up.
“What did you see?"and the tone was surprisingly empty.
Sigma was surprised by the difference between the beast's tone and Chuuya's tone, which was completely empty and white.
Sigma swallowed hard, feeling his heart beat in anxiety and fear.
Chuuya didn't look at him and Sigma was grateful for that.
“Hatred," he declared in a low and frightened voice"Pure hatred and destruction.” two words that perfectly described what he had seen.
The words had been so small, they almost seemed like they had been a figment of imagination.
And Chuuya… Chuuya … he looked surprised.
“You didn't see... anything? Just... that?" he asked surprised, looking at him.
"Just... a hateful beast," Sigma muttered, but he looked into Dazai's eyes which, unlike Chuuya's, didn't cause him chills or fear.
It was much more comfortable than Chuuya’s pretty eyes.
“Huh…”
That was all Nakahara Chuuya said and then he heard Dazai's sigh.
“That was really... unexpected," he muttered cautiously. "I thought you'd be able to see... something..." he placed a finger under his chin.
Sigma lowered his head, not looking at Chuuya.
"What did you see then?" he asked with some hesitation, but also a little curious.
"A black abyss, hatred, power and... the end of the world" he declared more sure of what he saw.
Sigma swore he saw pure surprise in Dazai's eyes and recognition in Chuuya’s eyes.
That was not new for Chuuya…
But as soon as he looked at him, the eyes of the beast came to his mind.
Red, storm, destruction.
He curled up against his legs, like a baby.
“Dazai-san... I've never been afraid of anyone...” he said with his chin rested on the top of his knee “but I'm afraid of Chuuya..."
Dazai raised both eyebrowns in clear surprise.
"I can't look at him without seeing the end of the world and that beast.” he muttered.
Neither of them spoke.
The air was suddenly a bit heavy.
But not as heavy as Chuuya’s monster.
“It's something... darker than what I saw in Fyodor."
Well, what he saw in Fyodor were his memories.
He never saw the storm he did in Chuuya.
He noticed he was colder than usual.
A different type of cold however.
It was something that came from that monster.
Both men noticed the way Sigma curled in hopes to find more heat.
None of them said a thing though.
Then, finally, Dazai spoke up.
"Is it something… inhuman?"
And Sigma looked at him with fearful eyes.
Then he said with a dark voice
“Worse is something demonic.”
And that was not enough to describe what he saw.
Both Dazai and Chuuya looked at him with dark shadows in their eyes.

Before we see like Chuuya as not a vampire anymore or at least like, before his vampirism is a topic moved on from, I need answers to multiple multiple factors of his vampire state and I hope we get them
Like um, HOW did he become a vampire? Was it via someone close to him having been turned? I saw someone bring up once, did he agree to become a vampire in order to save someone else playing into his sense of loyalty and care? Because it isn’t likely to have just been some random vampire attack, this is Chuuya we’re talking about after all so how the hell did he even become a vampire especially when you factor in the clothes he’s wearing which don’t suggest that he was on duty given his more casual wear
It’s weird and I need to know how he was transformed and its driving me crazy, I WANNA KNOWWW 😭
Also I wanna know why his vampire state is so different to others. Others appear stronger after they turn into vampires, they accept it pretty well also. But like, Chuuya looks exhausted and overexerted and like his body is actively rejecting the vampirism. Could it be a product of being merged with Arahabaki? That resistance to an attempt to control him? I don’t know and I want to know so bad because then if Chuuya’s body is already struggling against the vampirism and attempting to fight against the control, the idea that Chuuya could be broken out of that state makes a lot more sense and makes the lack of vampiric features in him while he’s drowning in 101 and the face that we don’t see his face or see the same certain mannerisms as when he was a vampire also makes a lot more sense
But I dont,,, I don’t know and I want to know and the suspense is killing me internally.
Also if Chuuya isn’t a vampire anymore, I think Fyodor would 100% know. And I think, if we look at it through the lens of Chuuya isn’t a vampire anymore and Fyodor knows, then it makes me rethink the fact that Fyodor specifically was the one to kill that catlady ability user unlike having Chuuya do it like with the guards earlier and makes me think about whether or not the speech he gives Dazai in which he multiple times dehumanizes Chuuya flat out could be something to purposefully see if Chuuya breaks and reacts
Because again, if there is a chance Chuuya isn’t a vampire anymore and is silently playing pretend, there’s No way Fyodor doesn’t already know.
I dunno anymore, I’m just having major Chuuya vampire brainrot, my list of questions keeps growing and there are so answers in sight

hey! Do you think that what will happen in meursault will go different than the anime?? Like what happens with soukoku? Whether chuuya is a vamp or not? Or Dazai is alive? Because as far as I remember Fyodor's hand was not injured in the manga like in the anime.....so does this mean something different will take place? So far it has been same...sorry to disturb you, I'm actually very anxious since I love soukoku, Dazai and chuuya very much..
Don't apologize for asking! Now this got my brain cogs turning ahhhhh
Do I think something different will happen? Yeah definitely, firstly because of that good point you brought up about Fyodor's hand, but also because I think Asagiri would do more with the story they currently have than rush it like in the anime. I feel like chapter 110.5 was meant to set suspense, letting the readers think it'll follow the anime but suddenly take a huuuuuge U-turn in something else.
Would absolutely love that actually, no matter how anxious and fearful it makes me.
Now onto the matter of Dazai being alive-
De-Nile is a river in Egypt 🥲
Okay jokes aside I'm seriously grasping onto the fact Dazai was able to speak a few more words after being shot point blank by Chuuya as a HINT he's not yet dead. Very, very, very badly wounded; yes. But not dead, also because I don't think (or wanna think) that Asagiri would end his character off like that.
This can be the same said with Fyodor. Him dying before we even know some of his past? The specifics of his ability? Seems very unlikely, so I'm somewhat convinced he'll be fine and won't have a helicopter accident like his anime counterpart.
Sigma, I wanna talk about him for a moment. I SINCERELY wish Asagiri is going to bring him back soon. I'm semi-believing that he just got knocked out by the overwhelming amount of info he got from Fyodor, cause if he actually did die by C&P, I reckon it'd be a more bloody scene than just his white-eyed stare in that one panel.
Chuuya? In the manga at least, I don't think he's faking the fact he's a vampire. I could believe it in the anime, but with the manga and extra details we have, I'm more inclined to think Chuuya's under the vampirism but he's like, not under its actual control. The scenes where he looked out of breath and where his dark-vampire eyes paled (and his reaction after shooting Dazai, doesn't seem very "hey I'm under mind control I have no free will" of him) have me considering that he's able to override the mind-control effects cause. Seriously tho. Chuuya has a god 24/7 inside of him. Yeah, Arahabaki is probably just a mass of energy and isn't likely to be a voice in Chuuya's head that sasses him, but years handling that sort of mental weight has got to give him an advantage.
-or so I'd like to think. I'm all hypothetical and guessing in my answers btw. Asagiri is writing such a story that so many events can happen that the story itself has its own parallel universe. I can't fathom what they have planned.
Excited for next month tho yeahhhhhh ✨
(also I firmly believe skk has got this in the bag for the simple reason of, the light novels. Shit went down but they got each other 😭)
tl;dr - I do think Asagiri is taking the manga down a different route. Also Sigma lives. And Chuuya's probably an actual vampire but he's not under the mind control thing. Take it with a grain of salt.

Ok spit it out, what's with these doubleblack yaoi boys you've been posting. um spill? don't worry about spoilers, i don't want to watch anime i just want to know
doubleblack yaoi boys. ok so first of all sorry for answering Days later i hope u still see this i'm so sorry i don't even know how to explain myself i don't remember what i've been doing. yesterday i was watching a bunch of friday the 13th movies but besides that i have no excuses. secondly i love the energy bc this is exactly how i ended up watching bsd i just cared about them a lot and learned everything i could until i decided i got this far i might as well just watch the damn thing. and i will say w the experience i have. it's not worth it babe just look at them they're the best part you're not missing out. anyway. i don't KNOW WHAT DO YOU WANT ME TO SAY UMMMMM the source material is this thing called bungo stray dogs it Is funny bc they decided the way to go abt this was make anime boys out of famous authors and like put half of them in the mafia so you have to sit there and nod when they call edgar allan poe a famous criminal or whatever. like 👍 and then they have powers based on one of their most famous books or whatever. and they're faggy. you will have to see people talk abt fyodor dostoevsky getting hole.
but besides all the Sillies. the doubleblack boys you ask about have genuinely honest to fucking god become like. one of my favorite pairing like. thematically or whatever. their dynamic is insane they are so cool. uhhhh hang on i'm embarassed let me hide
idk they're. they meet at 15 years of age teenagers by my chemical romance blasting. dazai is a member of the local /mafia/ and he's like a pathetic wet cat. he's sad and weird. he feels bored w life and finds it to be, frankly, Not Worth It so he's like passively suicidal but he won't straight up DO IT bc he doesn't like to be in pain bc he's a little baby. he joined the mafia thinking that maybe if he exposes himself to death and violence he'll change his mind but it hasn't worked yet it just made him Fucked Up. his special ability is called no longer human and he can switch off anyone's powers by touching them and it kinda gives him brainworms (will elaborate later). he's the one w the dark hair and wrapped in bandages and the most beautiful boy in the world. chuuya is a street punk baby gang (they're called The Sheep. smh) member ajfjakfiisg he Hates the mafia Hates authority is so so loyal to his little friends and he seems to be just Amiable and likable cause everyone's immediately fond of him to some extent and he's always surrounded by friends or making small talk. and he's like so fuckin bold and brave and arrogant cause he's got according to the author Thee strongest powers in this universe so he never has to like. stop and think. his ability is called upon the tainted sorrow and controls gravity. he's so kickass and liddol. he only fights using his liddol leggies to kinda rein himself in. he's got the red hair and always wears a choker bc he's so sexy and not like other girls.
so they meet bc chuuya's gang has been getting Big thanks to his powers to the point where the mafia's concerned and also they're investigating on some rumors abt arahabaki which is like an old god. chuuya gets dragged to the mafia hq, ends up having to work w dazai to solve this arahabaki stuff, and they. boohoo they DON'T like each other they DON'T wanna work together >:((( they're little enemies to ????? but the thing is To Me they don't even. hate each other that much. like they clash personality-wise sure and they get on each other's nerves on purpose Sure but also they're kids. it's not that big of a deal. they still take time to play arcade games together and make stupid bets during their mission. they're so endearing actually. anyway the catch Is. that arahabaki is actually this thing called a singularity which is when you put together two abilities that have kinda opposite effects and the Government had been doing experiments to create that power so they can use it and CHUUYA's one of the experiments wahh!!! the result is that chuuya has Another cool power called corruption where he just goes batshit and like throws black holes around and stuff and he's unstoppable but the catch is that once he activates this power he can't stop it he just has to wait until it consumes him and he Dies. here's where dazai's nullification ability comes in. more on that later. (it's as if they can only truly Work together. it's as if they were made to be together. haha 🤪) a member of the mafia (Arthur Rimbaud) reveals that he was There when chuuya blew up bc he actually wanted to keep chuuya as a little meat puppet and use that power for himself and YET! even after hearing this! chuuya gets attached to him. like yea the two of them kill him (through the power of Holding Hands mind you) but then he visits his grave and shit. bc this was the first person to tell chuuya that he's human. coming from a place of having seen first hand what makes him feel like he isn't. so he cherishes that a lot. after that the sheep Betray chuuya after some Dazai Manipulation Of Everyone™ bc he does that yk he's a little shithead he's a little evil. BUT he kinda had good intentions bc he's Clever and Observant and noticed so easily how much the sheep were using chuuya for his abilities and he has a Thing where he doesn't. love people using chuuya like that. so he wanted to cut him out of the gang and have him join the mafia with Hiiiiim instead :) and chuuya's mad at him. cause he still took his friends away from him.
but he does join the mafia he Does kinda like it there and him and dazai are assigned to be full time Partners and they get the nickname soukoku, or double black, The Most Feared Duo in the city, thanks to their little corruption-no longer human trick that just wipes out any enemy like it's nothing. then they uhh there's a bit where chuuya is like actually pissed of at dazai unironically for Once and dazai's so mopey that he actually like behaves like a good person so chuuya forgives him. my girl is mad at me i hope i die fr. i'm not familiar enough w this Piece of Lore so i can't elaborate further but like i'm obsessed w it.
anyway THEN jump to when they're about 18 dazai makes another friend named oda who like. sure he's soul-tied to chuuya forever but oda (and Another guy who i don't even wanna Think about) are the only people he'd Call friends. (also they're like a few years older than dazai and i'm Obsessed w the fact that he's such a miserable weirdo that the only people besides chuuya that he can make genuine friends with are some. adults.) and then oda DIES and the fault lies both in the mafia and the third friend and his final words are something about how he wishes he could have gotten out of the mafia to be a good person and he hopes dazai gets to do that. and it kinda Shapes the rest of dazai's life. he switches his perspective around and decides that if exposing himself to death and violence didn't Fix him maybe now he can try being Nice and Helping People and maybe that will make him feel like it's worth being alive. so he disappears from the mafia and a while later joins a local detective agency which is where we find him when the story actually starts. the night he leaves chuuya gets drunk. because he's soo happy. (i think he lied. abt being happy)
the first time chuuya and dazai meet again after this is in some fuckin Dungeon and dazai's chained to the wall and chuuya says it looks Hot and then they talk shit and bicker until they end up collaborating and chuuya lets him go (aka dazai talks his way out of it) and then they pull some fucking cringy ass Joke and they Laugh abt it and it's like. oh wow they're still the same. after all this time apart. we're still Like That and we haven't changed. :) after That they reunite in an episode named after them where they have to babysit some creepy enby kid w a spooky evil doll and fight H. P. Lovecraft during which chuuya has to use corruption and it's Glorious. it had been said that dazai is like speechless and completely fascinated by chuuya when he uses corruption. lol.
then there's the fucking MOVIE. oh my GOD. the main thing w them from the movie is. oh man. dazai 1. joins the Bad Guys but actually he's just Infiltrating to Defeat Them From Within 2. gets found out bc he's not that smooth and stabbed w a poisoned knife 3. gets trapped in a fuckin Dragon or smth and is realistically and understandably presumed dead. and then chuuya gets called in to kill this Dragon (i will not give more context on the Dragon bc i for one just barely understand what the hell is going on) and the only choice is to use corruption even tho he gets advised to not do that since dazai's probably dead and without him chuuya WILL die too. but he's like nah no way. that cockroach would NEVER die. (i trust him) so he uses corruption smashes the dragon to bits and even in the fucking. fugue state that he gets into. he spots dazai manages to recognize him calls out his name and fucking. punches him in the face. making him swallow some antidote he had hidden in his mouth all along. bc somehow dazai ALWAYS knows (remember he's clever) and he's ALWAYS one step ahead. but chuuya always knows HIM. they hadn't discussed this they just. trusted each other to have their back no matter what. dazai trusted chuuya to make him take the antidote and chuuya trusted dazai to snap him out of corruption even when it made no sense. it's about the TRUST!!! like yea no matter the circumstances the relationships the affiliations. this is him. he's got me. hey. of course. this is insane. chuuya punches him. technically upon contact corruption is now switched off. and then dazai reaches up to touch his cheek so softly. and says "you used corruption believing in me? how beautiful" people died tbh. oh you used your super insane deadly powers? even if as far as you were concerned i was as good as dead? you trust me that much? and You trust me enough to sit around this whole movie w a pill in your teeth knowing i'd make you swallow it just at the right moment? how did he even KNOW they're so insane. (then chuuya says "yeah i believed in your disgusting vitality and craftiness" and dazai answers "that was a somewhat violent way of waking snow white" shut the fuck up tbh) this is the highest moment. i will be forever insane. and then dazai like shoved chuuya's head in his crotch but i don't fucking CARE STOP BEING HORNY
and then we get to the latest season and chapters. oh man. ok so. dazai's in superjail w his actual archnemesis Fyodor Dostoevsky. people are becoming vampires. stick w me. fyodor brings chuuya Into superjail to help him kill dazai. chuuya is now a vampire and YES he is serving cunt. dazai almost drowns fyodor and chuuya to death and does a sad gay little speech abt how it's sad that it had to end this way and "there were moments where our hearts reached out to each other" girl WHAT???? "like…" and he THINKS abt them doing the corruption trick and holding hands to defeat rimbaud and just Existing next to each other BUT WHAT HE SAYS IS NOTHING. he just waves it off like he ~actually~ can't think of anything bc he doesn't even care haha bye die!! he is so PATHETIC. he is so if i loved you less i might be able to talk about it more -core tbh. he's such a liar. and THEN fyodor has chuuya shoot him in the head. lol. and what dazai has to say about THIS is like oooo maybe if i say something sweet chuuya will come back to normal. and so he says "chuuya our fate will not end in a place like this because you and i are destined to" and then he gets SHOT. IN THE HEAD!!! AND I LAUGHED ABOUT IT!!!! personally this was very "you know i… i…" "i don't know" "but he knew well enough" book reddie of them to be h. anyway. dazai's not dead. and you know what's funnier. chuuya was never even a vampire. he put on fake teeth and contacts and Lied. Pretended. Successfully. to like one of the smartest characters in this universe. hello. now i don't KNOW if i'm meant to read this as in it was always planned or if chuuya had this plan and dazai had to catch up w it like i don't know at what point does dazai know that chuuya was faking it. any theory on this is Hilarious to me. but he said the corniest shit to this man's face. good lird. yk before this season people argued that it was chuuya who cared abt dazai more and i can understand where you'd get that from considering how cold and distant and Fake dazai is (you'd be wrong and stupid) but like i feel like after this dazai's lookin pretty down bad ngl. i don't think there's any imbalance between them but if i had to pick. yk. anyway. chuuya Did actually shoot him but then he used his gravity powers to slow the bullet down Inside of the gun so that it wouldn't kill him and fyodor wouldn't see it. and dazai's like. oh yeah this trick? this little game? we used to do this all the time :) HELLO!!!!!! obsessed w THEM!!!! THEY FUCKED AROUND LIKE THIS? OF COURSE THEY DID. i KNOW they sat around age 16 and crafted the most RIDICULOUS convoluted plans Just In Case and then they give them little code names that they STILL remember YEARS after their partnership fucking ENDED this was insane. and then just walk it off? THEY ARE UNPARALLELED. PERIODT.
so. the girls who don't get it will say they hate each other or whatever. me personally i think it's bullshit. i think they just have That type of vibe. obviously they care. obviously they trust each other more than anyone else w everything they have at all times. and maybe they just also find each other fucking annoying and that's All. when they're 15 dazai finds him obnoxious bc he's too impulsive and never bothers to strategize bc he can rely on his powers being soooo fuckin strong and that's All. i think he's just jealous bc he wishes he could be as lazy as chuuya can afford to be. like he has lichrally Nothing to hate chuuya for he's perfect. chuuya on the other hand,,, besides just personality differences where he finds dazai depressing and offputting JAJDJAKFKAKG like dazai takes his friends away from him. his family the only place he feels he belongs to. i get being mad at dazai after that. but not even for long bc he ends up liking the mafia more anyway and agrees w dazai that the sheep were trash to him so what's left. i don't KNOW if dazai ever commits other significant crimes to him like 😭😭 don't get me wrong he might. i mean it when i say he's kinda evil. he might have done some other shit and i'm forgetting. but i don't think there's anything major that causes genuine hate. the closest thing i can imagine is that dazai, again, dragged him away from his friends, into the mafia, and then leaves him there alone. chuuya's loyal to a fault and can't stand betrayal so i'm sure he's pissed. but dazai also says at some point (not to him ofc) that he regrets not bringing chuuya w him when he left the mafia. sigh. so i think it's just mostly silly bickering.
on a Deeper sense i have some Thoughts abt. ugh. i sort of briefly mentioned that chuuya has some issues w feeling human, and dazai has some issues w his ability (no longer human) and like. besides the trust. this is becoming my favorite thing abt them. at their Core they have the same Thing they just go abt it in the opposite way. neither of them feels like a real human being. chuuya has this very artificial power inside of him so strong that it has a will of its own and dazai has a power that deletes if momentarily other powers. they're both a fuckin. affront to nature in their own ways. and when dazai doesn't feel human he just responds w apathy and like whatever ok i'm not then i wanna die and get it over with what's the point. but when CHUUYA doesn't feel human he's fuckin upset abt it and he wants to idk fight to be human anyway and prove himself wrong. and i feel like. they meet and chuuya sees this perfectly human boy who doesn't appreciate having what he's always struggling for. and dazai sees someone who's justified in feeling separated from humanity and yet he wants to force himself into it ? like man i WISH i had an excuse for feeling like this. and chuuya's like man i wish i hadn't had anything done to me that makes me feel like this. and so they're like,,, so fundamentally mad at each other but then they're also the only other bitch they know w this specific problem so even if they go abt it so differently there's comfort there too that they can't get anywhere else like. they are functionally stuck together bc who else is ever gonna Get It. and chuuya always wants proof that he's just as human as anyone else but then dazai !! he knows perfectly well !!! that chuuya IS like def more human than he'll ever be at the very least bc he knows !! better than chuuya ever will !! what it's actually like to be separated from humanity !! and dazai sees all this passion and energy into this little guy and like how could you ever doubt how could you ever wonder. what else would all this come from if you're not human. i don't even have an ounce of this and technically i Am human so what. dazai takes HIMSELF out of humanity chuuya was TAKEN out of it. and then their power. the fact that dazai's powers that he doesn't even like actively take away what makes chuuya feel less human ?!! there is some kind of mutual aid going on. dazai's ability CAN'T be that bad if it's at least fixing chuuya and it's in fact the ONLY thing that can save chuuya's life. and the irony of it being called no longer human when it does the opposite for chuuya. they're the only thing that sort of justifies themselves to Themselves. the place where the inherent anger for each other comes from is also where the inherent trust comes from. so even if they piss each other off and even if they'd never admit to any positive feelings like they'd do for their other friends they're just. tied. red string or whatever. i think the reason why they Keep finding their way to each other even when they work for enemy factions is Well They Have No Choice for better or worse they'll always be stuck together ! for worse probably. i don't think they're thrilled by that. but no one else is ever gonna Get Me like this bitch !!! so we're sticking together. can you believe i'm chuuya nakahara and the only time i can use the full extent of my powers is when This Guy is around. i can never be 100% myself w anyone else. and can you believe i'm osamu dazai and the only time that i feel like my powers aren't an offense to nature itself is when i use them to keep This Guy from blowing up. so my Burden isn't that bad it's actually Good sometimes. probably just for him but that will do. they're like i can never use all of my powers/i can never use my powers in a way that makes me feel ok except when he's involved. no they're fucking insane tbh it's fascinating.
dazai SAYS MULTIPLE TIMES that he thinks abt chuuya every moment of every day (specifically on how to piss him off but Still) (it's their love language) dazai stopped wishing he could die when he was 15 bc he met chuuya and he was the only exciting surprising thing that he'd seen so far and he wanted to stay alive to figure him out. chuuya keeps using corruption over and over and he puts his life in dazai's hands over and over and he never misses. dazai's the only one who's immune to chuuya - his stupidly strong powers sure but also his stupidly strong physical combat skills bc he knows him well enough to dodge. chuuya's the only one who can understand where dazai's going w his plans and meet him there. dazai calls him slug and chuuya calls him mackerel. once someone close to chuuya saw them stand side by side and said they were surprisingly perfect together. you know. so on so forth. do you Get It
also they're like in love and fucking i guess but that's collateral. i'm not gonna pretend to be strictly intellectual abt them. yas we ship them in a silly sexy way. but also they're incredibly fascinating just the way they are in the text. yk what i mean ?
here look at them as a treat. manga collage in chronological order anime reunion and official art for the movy. what on earth i say
#ask#pls lmk if u see this i'd hate to like. leave u hanging. i'm so sorry i like them so much that i overwhelmed myself at the chance to#fuckin talk abt them sjdkskcksf#i busted out Google Docs for this. it's LONG. i'm insane. sorry

I definitely think that there are gonna be significant differences between the manga and the anime when it comes to mersault...they probably changed things to wrap it up quicker so they could finish this arc and like you said, Fyodor never injured his hand in the manga.
It would just be hilariously sad if this was skk shippers chapter 88, wouldn't surprise me because Bones hates the Soukokus
I mean...I'm not an anime watcher. I just dont care about spoilers and absorb what happens in the anime through osmosis. But I get the frustration with Bones and how they treat certain content.
That being said, idk about the manga. All I know is that it will go into more detail for sure, maybe switch up things again like they did with 15, which you know, the anime was completely different from the light novel. From the character motivations to the misconception of Arahabaki being a God to the utter disappearance of Verlaine and any of the moments that explained certain things that happened. Skk worked together perfectly almost immediately and in the anime its just them holding hands while in the light novel its a far more complex strategy made on the spot without any of the loud declarations. Light novel skk were extremely synced in a really complex strategy, anime skk were doing basic shounen power of insta friendship shit. Or. More egregiously the entrance exam arc (what was that??)
Again I wanna point out there are big differences between manga and the anime when it comes to meursault.
- Dazai' s reactions to Chuuya's initial arrival is a lot more genuine. Seemingly.
- his "plan" of injuring Fyodor in the anime is very random and never happened in the manga.
- the elevator being controlled by Chuuya does make sense in both versions but the injuries Dazai sustained in the manga were far greater. (All Chuuya needs to do is touch the mechanism or the lift itself at some point, as long as Dazai doesnt touch the mechanism Chuuya can still slow down the decent of the elevator because he can still influence the gravity of the broken cables or something).
- the bullet wounds in the manga seem to be real and deal out realistic damage. All except the one to the head where the bullet doesn't seem to go through, only damaging the skin with very little blood, suggesting more of a surface level damage.
-Dazai's last lines like he didn't just take a bullet to the face were missing in the anime.
- we also got a speedy little wrap up of everything in the middle of 3 high stakes conflicts.

ok. a post to brainstorm doa chuuya bc i gave myself mild brainrot over it just by putting those words together
if any detail in this post inspires you to make art or write a fic please on god tag me if you post it or send it to me 👀👉👈
so. i have a few ideas and unfortunately i can’t quite get them to gel together into one, so i may as well list them all
the mentor fukuchi option
fukuchi got him out of the research facility around the time he was 14-15ish, and, well. mentored him - taught him to fight and basically put in his head all these ideas about unifying the world
i imagine chuuya would be loyal to him, but still somewhat suspicious, esp when he can’t remember his past. speaking of
the bait option
idk if bait is quite the right word? but, like. the way sigma is kept in the doa - he’s promised something he simply can’t say no to. and that thing is information about his past, kept by fyodor who gives him small bits after every mission he completes - just enough to keep him going, but not enough to make him feel fulfilled and want to leave
i’m not sure where this would fit with the timing in his life, but i assume he gets to be in the sheep here, but not with the mafia. do the events of 15 simply not happen? does he simply say no to mori’s offer? maybe fyodor meets him on that cliff before he gets to dazai. idk.
i lied when i said there are a few ideas btw i think i only have these two. anyway the real interesting part isn’t the how and why but rather what he’ll be like when interacting with the members and such. starting with the simplest and getting more complicated as i go
(also an important detail i can’t seem to find a place to fit, but i assume the doa will have the means to nullify arahabaki before it kills chuuya, given how fukuchi has ties not only with the government but also the un, and given how meursault has cells that nullify abilities, one can assume such technology exists and in which case there’s no reason for the doa not to get their hands on it. also as i typed this i remembered sigma has this nullifying gun iirc. so they probably just have more and this is how they get arahabaki down when they need to. or maybe it’s implemented in him somehow, like they can remotely activate smth that’s constantly on him coughchokercough and “turn off” arahabaki without getting near him)
bram
yeah no he doesn’t know about his existence. at least not at first? in the mentor fukuchi option i’m sure fukuchi will show him bram at some point, right before the time of the doa’s introduction in the main story. in this case, i feel like chuuya would honestly feel a sense of kinship with bram, both kind of used as a weapon of mass destruction, except unlike bram he can leave if he wants to (but... can he really? a bit harsh to think about, so he doesn’t like, go out of his way to interact with him)
sigma
“oh my god. another sane person. thank you”
like bram, def a lot of sense of kinship here, but more about the “i only remember the last few years of my life” thing. i feel like they could actually be friends even beyond that, tho. they’re really similar in a lot of ways and they could def bond over it, and i think having someone like chuuya around would make sigma feel better about the whole thing, which i think will make him even deadlier, more desperate to stay in this place he calls home. also, chuuya could back him up in the casino arc, and. um. yeah the hunting dogs will not survive that one
nikolai
nikolai finds out chuuya can technically fly and loses his shit. chuuya will become his new favorite person (but like, the way sigma is, not the way fyodor is). chuuya does not like that to say the least, but he does like to train with him sometimes bc nikolai can help him hone his reflexes
eventually nikolai would get tired of him tho imo? at least in the pre-canon part. chuuya would just be annoyed with his antics, no surprises, and it’ll get boring for nikolai. then he’ll find out abt the arahabaki thing and immediately chuuya is the most interesting person in the world again. he will definitely try to get him to use it constantly. he would love arahabaki sm.
during the actual story tho, after nikolai defects, i imagine he’ll want to free chuuya too. maybe he’ll steal his choker at some point, store it in his overcoat. “prove your free will by possibly be willing to die if you let arahabaki run loose” sort of thing, but actually it’s secretly “don’t be confined by what fyodor and fukuchi are doing to you. be your own person. never use arahabaki if you don’t want to”
fyodor
definitely the one holding the metaphorical leash over him, and chuuya knows it, and hates it. if we go by the “fyodor coming to recruit him at the end of 15′s events” route, he’ll hate how much the guy reminds him of dazai. also he thinks he’s creepy. still, he respects his plans, and does as he’s told for now, but he knows damn well not to trust fyodor. i imagine in said recruiting moment fyodor would probably kill some/all of the sheep to give him a sense of helplessness and like he has no other option but to go with him, so naturally chuuya would resent him for that
like p much everyone else, he has no idea what fyodor’s ability is, but he noticed pretty early that fyodor seems unkillable, so he doesn’t even try. something tells him that despite his own immense power, he won’t be able to kill fyodor, so he picks his battles carefully and never even tries (tho, maybe in the future. maybe i could offer more insight once we learn what fyodor’s ability is and what’s the deal with his supposed immortality)
fukuchi
father figure (derogatory)
i kinda of already got into it in the mentor fukuchi option, so as a tldr, chuuya respects him, is loyal to him, but is suspicious of him
however in the other option i feel like the knowledge of fukuchi being a part of a terrorist organization despite his position would kind of make him... bitter? also eternally curious if fukuchi was somehow involved/knew people who were involved in the arahabaki project somehow. he tries to keep his distance from him, just do what he’s told so he can get what he wants, without getting involved with things bigger than him
i imagine if anyone encourages him to use arahabaki a lot - for actual strategical reasons, not like nikolai who mostly thinks it’s cool - it’d be fukuchi (fyodor would not want to rely on smth this chaotic unless there’s no other choice, imo), which would also make chuuya resent him a bit.
also i wonder if fukuchi would ask him to infiltrate the hunting dogs with him in any of these options. could also be interesting, and also oddly fitting tbh.
anyway yeah that’s all i have for you now. would love to hear your own ideas, or takes on what i already wrote here, just be respectful!! and again if any of this inspires you in any way, please share, i would love to see 🥺
#gonna tag this as#bsd chuuya nakahara#the decay of angels#bsd au#yeah that's enough lol#dan rambles#i will be the first to admit i don't have the best grasp on chuuya's character#so if i'm way off in your opinion on anything here. feel free to offer your take but again just be respectful abt it!!#man some of this feels like a potential fic material. wish i knew how to write 🧐#i def feel like i forgot smth important so i might edit this post later

OMG KENJI AND TECCHOU 1V1 LETS GOOOOOOOO
okay i love tecchou, he's a great character, and so is jouno. but seeing kenji get hurt in any capacity fills me with a mighty rage and now i think tecchou deserves at least one passionate backhand from yours truly
BABY ATSUSHI NOOOOOOOOO
YESSSS GET FUCKED TECCHOU (i love you but like if i really had to choose between you and kenji...it's a no brainer babe)
also i'm legit like kenji fr. i couldn't give a shit if people like try to hurt me or whatever im like ok, but if anyone tries to hurt my friends i get unbelievably pissed about it and genuinely will throw hands
FUCK yeah they actually did kenji right. i was so worried about how they would animate this lmao but they actually did it properly good job bones
omg tecchou it literally doesn't matter if jouno would have wanted you to save him. the fact is that you tried to do it anyway and that speaks volumes (YOU'RE GAY YOU'RE A FUCKING QUEER)
you have to wonder if kenji admires chuuya in part due to the fact that he understands the difficulty behind CHOOSING to be nice when you're actually hated by the world and full of rage because of it. fuck maybe i kin kenji more than i thought. i also am one of those people who doesn't care if someone hurts me but if they hurt my loved ones i get fully pissed and will throw hands
KENJI AND TECCHOU'S FRIENDSHIP IS SO WHOLESOME OMGGGGG also did tecchou really not know the names of the detective agency? maybe that information was withheld from the hunting dogs in order to get them to subconsciously dehumanise the agency, so they wouldn't be swayed by the agency's efforts to prove their own innocence as easily...then again jouno recognised kunikida immediately so mayb not...
i love how sigma was called a three year old by dazai and he just...didn't react. no 'i'm not three years old' or 'technically i'm an adult', just -_-
FYODOR DUCKING TO GET UNDER THE DOOR WHILE CHUUYA JUST WALKS THROUGH LMAOOOOO
LMAOOOOOOO SIGMA BBY HE'S SO EASILY SWAYED (me too bub.) BABY YOU'RE ALREADY WAY SUPERIOR TO FYODOR. also dazai saying 'he's the atsushi kun type' bro i know. they're two of my top three bsd kins. I'M the atsushi kun type. also sigma looks so cute when he's thinking so hard i wanna boopdesnoot
why the fuck did they animate fyodor to be like 'chuuya san!' in the most babygirl voice ever, they even gave him emotions and everything wtf
'the walls are anti-gifted' ARE THEY ANTI ARAHABAKI THOUGH (don't come for me i havent fully read 15 or stormbringer i dont know if arahabaki is an ability or not im maKING A JOKE GUYS ITS A FUCKING JOKE!!!)
not the cutesy wink dazai oh my fucking god stop trying to rizz up sigma real quick and JUST KILL FYODOR
oh yeah are they ever gonna fucking explain timestopper catgirl?? she was there for like two seconds and then she was offed by fyodor once he escaped the water. like???? huh???? WHAT WAS EVEN THE POINT BESIDES THE VERY LAZY PLOT DEVICE?????? also she looks like a mha character i think people have already said this but she doesn't belong here she belongs in mha
how do mersault prisoners go peepee and poopoo
OH MY GOD THEY DID IT RIGHT!!!!!!! THEY DID IT PROPERLY!!!! YESSSSSSS

Black Sea
Author: Technicolour (Lirriel)
Summary:
A series of vignettes focusing on Atsushi - picked up by Mori and trained from a young age to be used as a tool. He's used to shackles, but he begins to seek freedom after meeting Dazai, an orphan eager to die. Alternatively: What if Atsushi and Dazai had been raised in the other's circumstances?
Relationship: Dazai Osamu/Nakajima Atsushi (Dazatsu)
Review:
• I'm absolutely in love with this fic. I've been rereading this tons of times already, analysing every sentence and theorising on the untold stories behind the words carefully left vague. This oneshot has so much potential I feel so inspired 😳✨
• I love the relationships between Atsushi and the PM members here. Mori is the horrible abusive adoptive father yet the one who saved Atsushi from his hell of the orphanage. Chuuya is still the same confident handsome bastard that I love in the canonverse, but with Atsushi as his partner he is gentler, calmer. And the Akutagawa siblings, who Atsushi cares for and grow to adore Atsushi in their own ways, really does weird things to my heart.
• The theme of this fic is freedom, which at first Atsushi didn't have because he was caged by the previous boss with a collar and later chained with thousands of ties to the Mafia by Mori, Chuuya, the Akutagawa siblings. His first meeting with one Dazai Osamu and many others later slowly change that. Personally I find the idea of relationship ties to be tragically romantic hhhhh.
• Atsushi's kindness. It is his kindness that leads to the, may I say, naive stubborn desire against killing, which Mori indulges, Chuuya sympathizes, and the Akutagawa siblings admire. Maybe I interpreted the lines wrong, or maybe I was right, but the PM members really try hard to protect this little hope of innocence that Atsushi holds, using their own twisted methods, despite how utterly foolish that hope is. Reminds me of the reasons why I fell in love with canon!Atsushi in the first place.
• Dazatsu's first meeting. I love the way Atsushi demands Dazai's will to live in exchange for the money, food and accommodation that he promises to provide. Really in character with Atsushi's love for life, both in this fic and the canon verse.
• Chuuya's gifts to Atsushi (and they are all expensive). Atsushi takes care of Chuuya when they go drinking. The two young boy comfort each other in the event of the trauma of their job.
• Akutagawa Ryuunosuke, calling Atsushi, "Atsushi-san" 😳😳😳 I also get this hunch quite often, that Akutagawa in this au is eager to kill because he wants to honor Atsushi's wish not to kill.
• Dazai's panic at seeing Atsushi's tears. Holy moly I felt like something in me was awakened when reading that part. Definitely one of my dazatsu favorite tropes.
• Atsushi! Smoking! (audible gasp)
• Dazai lit Atsushi's cigarettes 🤤 I want a cigarette kiss 🚬💋😉😘
• This fic was written back in 2017. The author admitted that they only read the manga and didn't know LN was a thing when they wrote it, which is why some details may seem out of place if you think about it. Personally I find this drawback to be quite appealing instead. I like to imagine how the other pieces of the BSD canonverse can fit into this au: Did Atsushi know about Yosano (because, Mori)? What would Fyodor do knowing Atsushi was the fearsome Beast of Calamity of the PM? How did Atsushi and Chuuya's first meeting go? How could Atsushi help dealing with Chuuya's Corruption power and Arahabaki? Where were Oda and Ango? How about Kyouka? So many questions, so many ideas...
Quotes:
*
“I’m never killing again.”
He doesn’t know where the sudden conviction comes from; he just knows that it bubbles and burns in his throat. The tiger paces inside his ribcage, making itself known in the ache that pushes up from the inside of his skin, pressing outward.
“What the hell, man.” Chuuya—doesn’t sound as angry as Atsushi would have expected, considering what he just said is tantamount to treason in their circle. Pacifists are dead weight, only good for menial tasks.
*
“I didn’t realize how famous Atsushi-san was,” Dazai says softly. He quirks his eyebrow at Atsushi, playful. “Imagine my surprise when I was being detailed on dangerous Port Mafia members and your name popped up.” He leans close to Atsushi, his breath hot against his skin and adds, “The reported number of deaths was strange, too.”
Atsushi shivers and says, “It’s complicated.”
Dazai shifts, turns his head fully to examine the camera that watches them. After a long pause, he turns back to Atsushi and asks, “Why are you with the Port Mafia, Atsushi-san? Someone like you...” and he pauses, looking down to where their hands are connected. “It just doesn’t make sense,” he says at last.
*
There are shouts, filled with rage and arrogance, as members of whatever organization has been marked for extinction surround him. They catcall and cajole him, laughing at the small, pretty sheep who has strayed from the flock and wandered into a concrete forest filled with wolves.
And always, always, Atsushi smiles mildly at them. Before each raid, he prays quietly for someone to have sense, for someone to escape into the night and not be foolish enough to stand and fight and die.
It is, Atsushi knows, a foolish wish borne from a foolish hope that this shall be the last death he must witness.
*
Dazai’s hand stills, and Atsushi feels his eyes. He continues to eat, quietly, layering the flavors that enter his mouth, trying to build a sensory symphony. “I have nothing to pay you with,” Dazai says, and Atsushi wonders if the lack of betrayal in his voice, the tired resignation, offers a clue.
“No, you do,” Atsushi says. “Something you hold little value in; something I consider to be of great value.”
*
Akutagawa does not quite smile at him – Atsushi does not think he even really knows what a smile is. But he quirks his lips, as if he is sharing something humorous with Atsushi, and Atsushi smiles back weakly.
“Atsushi-san could kill Mori-san and the other executives, and I would still want to follow Atsushi-san.” Akutagawa pauses, swallowing. And then he says, “Because Atsushi-san saved us… Our lives belong to you, Atsushi-san.”
Something weighty settles in the pit of Atsushi’s stomach, and he breathes out a hummingbird’s sigh. Akutagawa, he thinks, is so incredibly earnest. The obvious adoration in his voice makes Atsushi’s heart hurt.
*
We are only children, Atsushi thinks, as Chuuya lurches toward him with another sob, wrapping his arms around Atsushi’s neck. It is easier for him, like this – when Atsushi is in his tiger form, large enough that his bulk takes up almost the entire available space, with Chuuya curled into his belly.
He doubts Chuuya would treat his human form like this.
The tiger blinks, sharing its body with Atsushi, and chuffs softly at Chuuya, nudging at his head. It only succeeds in knocking his hat off. Tigers cannot purr, their vocal cords are not designed for it, but Atsushi tries to convey comfort in other ways. It is the only thing he can do.
It is his fault Chuuya is this way.
*
“Dazai-kun is incredibly kind,” Atsushi says.
There is a shadow of melancholy to Dazai’s face as he smiles and says softly, “No, but Atsushi-san is kind to think so.” He lets Atsushi eat a few more bites before asking tentatively, “Would you like me to leave?”
“No,” Atsushi answers immediately, and is surprised to find that it’s true. “I’d appreciate your company, if you have nothing else to do.”
“Never,” Dazai says. He smiles, and there is a gentleness to his expression that fills Atsushi with warmth.
*
“It was my home.” The “was” is weighty; there’s a finality to the words, and suddenly Atsushi sees what the tiger has seen all along, has known ever since that day by the river. There is a peace that comes from this knowledge, and he smiles at Dazai, trusting him to see what Atsushi saw. “But home is someplace different now.”
“I understand,” Dazai says. And he smiles back, a soft curve that dimples one cheek and makes his eyes shine like stars in the dark of night.

oh, what a hideous sight in a way. fyodor can't help but frown as he lays eyes on what's been done to his amaryllis. eyes once like where earth and sky meet, now stained over with the bloodbath he desires now. it's perfect, this will do nicely for their plans, of course. chuuya under bram's orders, violence and strength unmatched even from before. and no pesky remaining loyalty to dazai to make him question it.
but... isn't this the opposite of what fyodor promised him? that he'd never be leashed again, forced to do another's bidding? he grinds his teeth, that his wildfire would be contained by another's will than his own. if anyone should dare do this, it should be him.
he pulls his sleeve over his hand and presses his wrist over chuuya's jawline, a soothing touch to the now raging beast. " oh, моя жизнь... i promise i will make them pay for thinking i would allow this to be done to you. but first, we must dispose of a certain link to your past. i'm certain he'd love to see you this way... let's make him think twice. can you do that for me, my sun? "
it tastes like betrayal. it's foul and acrid on his tongue, rising like bile in his throat and filling his tongue. chuuya knows the taste well. he knows what it tastes like when he tries to drown it out with expensive wine and cheap cigarettes. he knows what it tastes like when he tries to quench it with the taste of someone else's skin. he didn't know, until today, what it feels like when he's trapped deep inside his own head. he didn't know what it sounded like beneath the agonised screams that seem to shake his very being - that seem to reverberate through his bones and nerves alike, tearing at everything in between over and over and over again.
chuuya lays eyes on the familiar figure before him and he feels something snap deep, deep inside. he feels something fray and snap open as every single fibre of his being wants to charge forward and scream, cry, sob -- anything other than standing here motionlessly waiting for the next order he can do naught but mindlessly obey as the tar filling every inch of him thickens just that little bit more. breaths wheeze through gritted teeth, jaw working as sightless eyes stare back at fyodor. as the man beneath the vampire's control seethes with something he hasn't felt since he was fifteen and lost in the ebb and flow of the city.
shut up. shut up. you don't mean it. you can't mean it. not you -- not you too. i trusted you. i--
crimson tendrils creep through him. arahabaki's rage, desperation, terror - everything permeates every nerve ending in the executive's slight frame. he winds these tendrils through his muscles, round his bones and everywhere they'll reach. everywhere he can force into submission. conflict rages beneath and all fyodor can see is twitching eyelids and racing heart. this wasn't meant to happen. he can't expect-- he can't. chuuya claws and pulls and pulls at the tar filling his mind. he takes everything he's earnt for himself in his hand and he forces himself to the surface. he will not be used again. he will not he controlled again. never again. not as long as he breathes. the sting of betrayal fades beneath the rush of desperation that comes next.
air. he can breathe. he's here.
a hand snaps forward, gripping the poet's wrist in a vice grip. vision slams back into him as chuuya takes hold of his own body for a painfully fleeting moment - just enough to look into those eyes he thought he loved. those eyes he thought he could read and trust. his voice is naught but a pained hiss as the vampire's grip tightens and threatens to suffocate him yet again. "don't. touch. him."
fyodor was right. he was right about everything. chuuya doesn't deserve any of them. not even the writer himself.

4, 9, and 17 for the fic asks >:3 🧡
*walks in* *puts on tetsu no ori* LET'S GO
be warned i am a chronic yapper I do not shut up about anything ever
4. Tell me about one of your abandoned WIPs. Why did you abandon it?
hoo boy. so, there was a sort of ambitious au I tried to write once—have you heard of twin star exorcists?
HOWEVER!! I've actually considered picking it up again and rebranding as a soukoku au? once again, enemies to lovers, my transchuu agenda, my dazai can be any gender agenda, EXORCIST PRODIGIES, one of the characters has no idea where they came from and has a whole Bit about questioning their humanity. i.e. arahabaki parallels. there are a few gaps I'm trying to work out but it's definitely an idea haha)
ok enough yapping about that moving on
9. Are there any fics you'd love to see but don't want to write yourself? What are they?
!!! okay I really want to see. more fics about fyodor and disability. specifically related to anemia and blood. I generally don't read fyodor fics until endorsed by someone whose opinion I trust [for example, check out tell me we do not live in vain by valleykey, the Best fyozai fic Ever, or any of their fics!] because genuinely I don't trust this fandom to characterize fyodor, or any of decay of angels trio, very well half the time.
the reason I want to see more is because canonically, we know he is anemic and suffers from low blood pressure. however, I'm reluctant to write that for him because it's one thing to write like, transfems as a transmasc, there are similarities to be drawn from it, but things like anemia and chronic disability are a whole new ball game. I do not ever want to misrepresent any of that, and writing an ablebodied fyodor is just a. bit. disrespectful.
I mean I will write in his pov, of course. but I'd place him in higher stakes situations where his discomfort and pain isn't rhe sole focus so I don't have to write it in too much detail and write it all wrong. a bit of a cowardly approach maybe but until I really read a lot more that's all that's happening. unless it's like a menstrual disorder which. yeah. grimaces. but even that's inextricably tied to all his other issues, so.
17. What has been the proudest moment for you so far since you started writing?
oh boy. aside from all the times I've had authors I really admire acknowledge me and my writing, which is just. wow. its not that I think they are higher beings, but more like. if people who I admire think I am also worthy of admiration and think my fics are good. that my characters are well done....I remember the time a well-known author in the ZEROBASEONE rpf circles literally revived from her hiatus to comment on my fic!! to tell me how much she loved it. a fic that I genuinely wrote in like two hours for a member's birthday. (it continues to be my most popular fic for the fandom lmao) it was . wild. especially because I deeply admire her writing for being so introspective and critically challenging. augh.
but aside from all that,
probably the time I finished writing we were lost, looking for an answer. my last ever assassination classroom fic. I was largely out of touch with the fandom and the only reason I went through with this fic was that I promised my readers I would give it to them, and a lovely reader had left a comment about QPRs, and even a thing or two about Japanese law regarding it. writing that series, a silly series that I wrote out of frustration that my aroace-spec peers in the LGBTQIA+ community went through so much for just not adhering to the norm...well. guess who realized he's demiromantic demisexual through writing it 🤡
okay I derailed. the point of it is that by the time i done writing it I was kind of struck by how raw and real it felt, to me, and how I was proud of it. mainly because karma characterization is a tricky thing to do, in my opinion, and I'd done a pretty decent job. it also felt like an accurate representation of wanting someone who doesn't want you back like that, but wanting them close all the same. in general, it felt like a good representation of how scary and hopeless a queer teenager's life can be, especially at fifteen years old.
do I think I could have done better? yes, of course. I still think I have the drive to write it again, make an updated version. but I won't, because it was the first time in a long time that I wrote something that genuinely made me think differently about myself. I also think that it's a nice milestone marker. :)

I genuinely dont think Dazai expected Fyodor to pick Chuuya cuz he only mentioned recognizing who it was after seeing the damage or after receiving some kind of sign of what the damage in the facility was
And to be honest I actually liked how Dazai was forced to essentially kill Chuuya, cuz like while I agree from an emotional standpoint Dazai did it for the ADA but on a more rational standpoint(this is going to be dickish) not killing Fyodor, someone who you know is going for something like world domination because your (ex)partner is there…doesn’t fit how I think Dazai thinks. And I think if Dazai knew it was Chuuya before he came up with the plan he would have found another way (I say this because of Stormbringer where again essentially the entirety of Yokohoma depended on Chuuya fighting for them but Dazai still gave Chuuya the choice to do it even tho the greater good wouldnt have been that like even in a similar situation Dazai doesnt force Chuuya to sacrifice himself), but since I think Dazai ddint know it was Chuuya it was too late to change the plan and there were no options left, cuz we know the elevator plan had been in the works for a while.
I kinda read this scene as like a: there are no good options here
I dont think Chuuya would have approved of Dazai not taking the chance to kill Fyodor because of Chuuya so I feel like Chuuya would see that point, esp with Chuuyas statement to Ango in Dead Apple about how Ango while he played a part in Chuuya’s friends death, Ango himself didnt have the power to stop it.
Also I think Chuuya could break out of the vampirism himself cuz no one else in the BSD world is used to giving up their autonomy as much as Chuuya is thanks to Arahabaki. Chuuya has no control over Arahabaki so hes kind of more experienced compared to anyone else with fighting against ig a lose of control
I fully imagine a scene of Chuuya going: bruh i deal with losing my mind every time i use corruption, you think vampirism is gonna be any different? Pfft
Is that gonna happen? Prob not but…it would be funny
I do fully agree and like the idea of Chuuya being the one to one up Dazai and Fyodor, cuz youre absolutely right, pretty much no one else has surprised Dazai the way Chuuya has and since Fyodor is so like Dazai it makes a lot of sense for Chuuya to be able to one up Fyodor
I also see Sigma doing it too just to prove Dazais point of how the people on the ground who fight are the ones who make the biggest difference
Chapter 105.5 Thoughts: Control, Manipulation and Partnership
Or, how Chuuya is actually the most qualified character to land a victory over Dostoevsky.
I just want to preface this with: I think Chuuya has woken from the brainwashing. We can't see his eyes, he's holding his hat again, and look at the progression of his face and expression from the last few chapters with him (these are in order btw from left to right).
I'm not completely sure how he did this, but I chalk a lot of it up to sheer stubborn determination on Chuuya's part, mostly because it's funny and he was clearly fighting back before Dazai's speech. However, I find it likely the speech did contain some kind of code - others have pointed out how "Goodbye!" might be a reference to the original author's last unfinished book and we know skk's codenames for things generally are based off their real counterparts' works so, maybe he'd already broken out of it, maybe there was something in there that gave him the final push - who knows at this point honestly? Either way, it means Chuuya had the capacity to break out of the vampire curse on his own and that's incredibly funny to me for many reasons but mostly:
Fyodor: "Bold of you to assume Chuuya's ability can't overcome flooding."
Dazai: "Bold of you to assume Chuuya's personality can't overcome brainwashing."
But really, this highlights something interesting here, both in what Chuuya's role is ultimately intended to be in this arc, and in the way Fyodor and Dazai manipulate and value others in very different ways.
I've said it before but it bears repeating: we already know that Fyodor is an excellent long-term planner, while Dazai is effectively able to counter him because Dazai shifts into thinking like his opponent. They're foil characters for a reason; they're both highly intelligent, manipulative, and willing to play the long game for the sake of winning against their opponent.
Thing is, I also stand by the idea that personality-wise, they're not similar at all - and that has serious implications for the people they are connected with. The build-up to the prison escape arc really highlights this. Some examples:
Chapter 46: Fyodor believes that all people are sinful and foolish and that his goal is to remove sin. Dazai believes that all people are sinful and foolish but asks what's so wrong with that.
Chapter 64: They decide to have a "super-happy chit-chat" about their problems. Dazai's solution to Fyodor's issue with his lazy subordinates is to get them to think lazing around is a bad thing so they will put in effort of their own. Fyodor's solution to Dazai being unable to woo the waitress is to isolate her from her job, house and family so that she can only rely on Dazai.
Chapter 77: Fyodor believes god is perfection and harmony, and thus that the people capable of change are the superior ones with most control. Dazai believes god is the accidental and illogical and believes it is the ordinary people who fight and live in that uncertainty who create the greatest change.
So, what's happening here? Fyodor's manipulation is shown to be very exacting and direct. He leaves no room for error and regards people on a hierarchy - God above all, himself as a servant of God's will, and the sinful and foolish humans he has little regard for. Dazai's manipulation involves manipulation of the situation, and is often indirect. It involves people coming to the conclusion he intends for them to on their own. And from his later dialogue with Sigma, we see he doesn't regard the world in that same kind of hierarchy.
Now, look at the way Fyodor picks an item and Dazai picks a person when starting the game. Look at the way Fyodor refers to Chuuya respectfully but brainwashes him entirely and mocks Dazai for not being worthy of "using" his ability. Look at the way Dazai is a complete ass to Chuuya but ultimately lets him make his own choices (begging people to take note of that moment in Stormbringer where Dazai cuts himself off to correct his referring to Corruption as Arahabaki's true power to Chuuya's true power).
So, the actual strength Dazai has over Dostoevsky then, is not really his strength at all, it's the strength of others and their choice and willpower to act in the way they believe is best. It's the only means of getting a leg up on Dostoevsky, otherwise they will continue to go around and around in circles forever.
And Chuuya is the best candidate for finally throwing Fyodor off his game.
Firstly, let's just establish something: no matter how mad he is at Dazai, he's not going to side with Fyodor, not willingly. Fyodor threatened the Mafia in the Cannibalism arc by attacking Mori, first of all. I doubt he's forgiven him for that. Secondly, Fyodor embodies everything Chuuya can't stand about Dazai, at the very least, younger Dazai - the manipulation, the lack of consideration and connection with others, the callousness and lack of regard for life.
Well, perhaps he's not quite as irritating. +1 point for Dostoevsky I guess?
But lastly, it is more advantageous for Chuuya at this point to help fight against Fyodor, especially since most of the Mafia has been vampirized by his organization. Helping the Agency stop the terrorist plot will help the Mafia by extension by undoing that. And we know from Stormbringer that no matter how much Chuuya is personally hurt, he considers taking out the threat to his people a higher priority. Always.
(You could make the argument that he was told whatever Teruko told Atsushi and decided to join, but not only do I find this wildly out of character, but if that was the case then there would've been no reason to brainwash him.)
That said, I don't think this was preemptive "Dazai's master plan #3057", and in fact, I stand by the idea that Dazai had no idea Chuuya was going to be in the prison. It is very, very important to me that for the rest of this arc, no matter what Chuuya does, that his actions are his own. Not Fyodor's, not Dazai's, but his. And not just because I hate that he's being controlled right now and that freedom of choice has always been important for Chuuya.
But because it makes narrative sense.
The vampires are a bit silly, yes, but they represent the way Fyodor and Fukuchi think - humanity will commit atrocities. They cannot be trusted to make their own decisions. They want to make a world that is free by... mind-controlling people so their plans work without a hitch. In short, they choose, on behalf of others, to sacrifice human autonomy for peace. So, if we are going to turn this arc around, we need to have characters breaking out of that control and thinking for themselves, in spite of the uncertainty of the outcome.
We already see this with Atsushi in the last chapter! He finally takes initiative and makes that choice to leave the room when he doesn't exactly know what the right thing to do is. And this is also why I don't think Teruko is wholly convinced by the DoA either - she lets him go. She gives him the freedom to choose what he does with that information.
Another one of the focus characters here is Sigma. Sigma is a guy who has no past, whose humanity is questioned, who keeps being used by organizations for his valuable ability, who has no home but desperately wants one... oh wait. Remind you of anyone's younger self? This could go one of two ways: Chuuya fails to assert his autonomy, leaving Sigma to learn from that failure, or, Chuuya succeeds in asserting his autonomy, leaving Sigma to learn from his success.
I think it, by necessity, has to be the latter. Sigma's at a tipping point right now, and I think seeing someone try to assert their freedom only to fail would damage him greatly. And I think it's a waste of Chuuya's character honestly.
Chuuya needs to assert his autonomy in this arc. Not just for thematic reasons but because I can think of no one else who can effectively break the "super-genius stalemate".
I keep hearing "Dazai knows Chuuya" in response to Fyodor calling their bond shallow, and that is absolutely true! But Chuuya also knows Dazai. Incredibly well. Odasaku knew Dazai's soul, but Chuuya knows Dazai's mind, knows his strategies and ways of thinking without even needing words. What's more, Chuuya has thrown off Dazai before and done what he didn't expect him to.
Which is nifty, because Dazai and Fyodor think a lot alike. Chuuya is in a unique position to thwart Dostoevsky because he may actually be able to predict him to a degree. Chuuya can absolutely land a victory against him, and it's excellent because it would be completely unexpected to Fyodor, who apparently thinks Chuuya's strength lies only in what his ability has to offer and not much else.
But listen. This also can't be skk's plan. I need Chuuya to sideline both of them. Both for the sweet, sweet catharsis of putting those two idiot geniuses in their places and also because I need Dazai to have screwed up. He wasn't wrong about people making their own choices in uncertainty. People need to assert their autonomy to create change. Dazai can't be wrong in this regard.
But with going ahead with the trap to drown Fyodor despite also having to drown Chuuya when he promised not to let him get killed... this needs to have been a mistake, otherwise the value of Dazai's emotional speech to him is diminished.
I want Dazai to try to laugh it off. I want him to say he always knew Chuuya would escape and then for Chuuya to deck him because "no, the fuck you didn't".
I really think Dazai hoped Chuuya would make it. Do remember that Chuuya was one of the first reasons young Dazai decided to try giving life a chance. The fact that he flashbacked to all his key memories with Chuuya says a lot. But his survival was no guarantee and it seemed very unlikely.
So, Chuuya is faced with the fact that Dazai nearly sacrificed him to kill Dostoevsky and save his new Agency friends.
And I hope he finally gets mad. I hope he finally expresses hurt on his own behalf for once. I hope they are forced to break their status quo that they have carefully maintained by not talking about anything ever. I hope they are pushed to uncomfortable places and that it is Chuuya who finally spurs this development.
Let Chuuya break the stalemate between Dazai and Dostoevsky. Let him shatter the status quo that him and Dazai have kept going for year after year.
Autonomous action in the face of uncertainty is necessary for change.
