Maybe I'm seeing it wrong. But the first one (the audience's pov) shows what Ed really felt. Awe. Vulnerability and Falling in Love. Because this is the first time anyone has ever told Ed that he could be more than just a rough and tumble pirate. He could be soft too.

But the Stede pov has a different look all together. It comes off (to me) as suspicious, confused and even a bit of disgust? Because Stede always does something wrong. No one has ever liked the same things the same way he does. Why would Blackbeard be any different.

So of course when Blackbeard takes a deep breath and takes a step towards Stede, he's gonna be on guard. According to the script of life this is the part where he gets bullied for being weird again.

But when you keep looking at the second gif. you see just a little bit of that same love in the first one. But it's so faint that it takes a few re-watches to catch.

hey just for the record, if you’re on r/ao3 and keep running into these kinds of comments on bookmark related posts — it’s not a good take. calling someone’s writing “slop” and saying it deserves criticism for being bad BECAUSE it’s posted publicly might seem like a nuanced take, but I promise it isn’t.

yes, sometimes us writers get a little too obsessed over a cryptic comment or bookmark; no, that doesn’t actually mean the solution is to say whatever you want in them because authors “deserve” your honesty. 

I know we’re in a touchy time for readers and writers, but comments like these are NOT kind, refreshing, or nuanced. they’re just kind of mean and discouraging.

i really love positivity for trans women who don't voice train or tuck or w/e like they deserve the positive attention but i always see it loudest from tme people who seem to value the mythical non-transitioning trans woman so highly and sexually that it doesn't come off as anything but fetishization, and then those same people will turn around and say trans women who do seek gender euphoria through these things are 'conforming' like i think you're the one trying to get us to conform, specifically to your fantasy of a brick that tops you and has no opinions or desires of her own
