Hi!! So, I’ve kept thinking about The Haunting of Hill House and Dungeons & Dragons, so…here’s a little moodboard post for my thoughts about what class and alignment they’d be if they were thrown into the world of D&D. :)

1. Steve Crain - Warlock Bard

Alignment: Neutral Good

2. Shirley Crain - Ranger

Alignment: Lawful Good

3. Theodora “Theo” Crain - Sorceress Rogue

Alignment: Neutral Good or Chaotic Good

4. Luke Crain - Barbarian

Alignment: Chaotic Neutral

5. Eleanor “Nell” Crain - Cleric

Alignment: Lawful Good

A Magical Taxonomy

Warlock: from wær (old English, “pact/oath”) + loga (proto-Germanic, “liar”) + hard “-ck” (Scottish English); Oathbreaker (contextually; breaker of Baptismal Oaths; hence also Apostate)

Wizard: from Wis (old English, “knowledgeable”) + -ard (same, “too much of”); Possessor of too much knowledge

Witch: from weyk (proto-indo-European, “apart, separated, different”)[connotations akin to Latin’s “Sacre”]; Sacred Outsider

Sorcerer: from Sors (Latin, “Fate”) and Ser (same,“to bind”); Fate Manipulator

Druid: from dru (proto-Celtic, “Oak”) + weyd (same, “to see”); Oak-Seer, or Tree-Knower

Cleric: from kleros (Ancient Greek, “lots/ casting lots/ drawing lots”) [contextually; public servants were selected by drawing lots, as opposed to, say, voting]; Public Servant / Clerk

I'm a bit nervous about posting this but-- Here's the answer for @luqlustra 's question, featuring the post-campaign polycule! It's always a bit emotional to go back to dnd characters after their stories are over. Please notice their basses- They're based on each other (Uri's fire-bass is based on Yxala, Relent's bismuth-bass is based on Uri, and Yxala's cloudy bass is based on Relent!). They exchanged them during their wedding : )
