Saving Grace Music proudly presents Highest Frequency Vol. 2, an album repping vibrant UK electronic music culture to the fullest. The LP collects 11 high-grade tracks from music legends, bubbling talents, and currently undiscovered artists. KoDean Productions opens things up with a cold serving of his trademark Sci-Fi Drill sound on the enigmatic Dreams. While Saving Grace upstart Slinki comes with a true dancefloor destroyer known as ANX BNX is a hyperactive footwork riddim with an arresting melody and a thunderous kick drum. Murk stays true to name on Slowwww, a high-octane, jump up drum & bass roller. UKG & Bassline legend DJ Q brings us his epic track All Mighty, combining elements of dub, dubstep, drum & bass, and a powerful reggae vocal sample the track the track takes you on a journey through his music inspirations. On Fantasmo Circuitry, 11-year-old DJ Marcel displays influences beyond his years from 80’s electronica and jazz & Hip Hop, skillfully executed with meandering piano, slap bass, and 808 beats. Mighty Funk'Houser reminisces about a fine lady on his soulful deep house/bruk joint, Chantay Had A Vybe. Krash displays his unique bassline style on Going Home, featuring a bittersweet piano rift and handcrafted bass. Positive_Con flips a classic sample into the anthemic bass-hybrid banger Underground. Shaun Dean's bouncy garage riddim Like It is a fresh and flavorful take on a classic oldschool sound. Eclectic, weird & comical production duo Foxglove Riot takes us foraging for Subterranean Garlic on a forest moon - to the sound of rugged drums, enchanting melodies, and nostalgic vocal harmonies. For the album's cinematic conclusion we enter the Austerity Chamber, Tony Phorse's simulation of a near-future dystopia, soundtracked by distorted techno beats and apocalyptic synth. Highest Frequency Vol.2 continues the legacy of solid sounds from up north. From hypnotic beats to dancefloor bangers, Highest Frequency Vol.2 slaps hard and deep. All you gotta do is press play. Fourteen Days of MHA | 5/14: Quirk, Special Move
(side note: this one can be read as either a prequel or a sequel to 'when i break pattern, i break ground,' in which Present Mic helps out with Shinsou's training after the Shie Hassaikai arc!)
“Today,” Hizashi announces, “I am going to teach you one of my very own ultimate moves.”
Shinsou perks up at this, which is great, because it was less of a lesson plan and more that Hizashi is running out of ideas to keep the kid busy and engaged while also adding something to his training. He can only give Shinsou so much advice when it comes to the capture cloth before he starts doing more harm than good, something he is sure Aizawa will not thank him for when he returns.
Then Shinsou’s eyes narrow in very are-you-messing-with-me suspicion. “How? I don’t think brainwashing is going to be more effective just by being louder.”
“That’s the great thing about this move,” Hizashi says. “You don’t have to be loud. In fact, you don’t have to talk at all.”
The suspicion intensifies. But Hizashi hasn’t lost him yet.
“It’s called—” he throws in a little jazz hands for style—“DJ Punch.”
He can usually tell when Shinsou is attempting to decide whether he thinks Hizashi is very smart or very stupid, which means he’s catching on a lot faster than most people do when they automatically write Present Mic off as the latter. Unfortunately, that does seem to be the direction Shinsou is leaning today.
“I know how to throw a punch,” he says flatly.
“But you don’t know how to throw a DJ Punch,” Hizashi counters. “Important distinction.”
When Shinsou still doesn’t look convinced, he continues, “I promise you, no villain I’ve ever taken down has expected me to start a fight by punching them in the face. Similarly, it’s a very effective move when they’re already reeling from having their eardrums burst.”
He sees the moment Shinsou stops debating his intelligence and instead starts asking himself why the hell Hizashi is telling him this. At this point, the kid’s kind of an open book—his poker face is good, but it’s not Aizawa good. “So, it’s less about punching someone in the face, and more about doing something unexpected.”
There ya go.
“Yes,” Hizashi answers sagely. “But it’s also totally about punching someone. Maybe in the face. Depends on the situation. That’ll snap nine out of ten people out of a villainous rampage for sure.” He wags a finger at him. "Don't forget your basics while you're busy learning jumping spinning crescent kicks."
“Uh huh,” Shinsou says.
“Just trust me on this one, listener. Or, better yet, c’mon. Let’s do a demonstration.”
“Why do I feel like this is just an excuse for you to punch me in the face?” Shinsou grumbles, but he follows him to the training mats anyway.
