WELCOME TO MOORBROOKE’S ANNUAL FALL FESTIVAL 2022!

The summer is over and the colder days have finally arrived which means it’s now time for Moorbrooke to celebrate the start of fall with the annual Fall Festival! For a week, the town will be filled with fun fall festivities for everyone in the town to enjoy. Whether it be pumpkin carving, munching on tasty caramel apples, drinking delicious fall inspired hot drinks, browsing through homemade trinkets by our very own Moorbrooke locals or having fun on the rides, Moorbrooke welcomes everyone to experience the fun!

Take a look at all the fun activities that’ll be occurring throughout the week... 

FOOD & DRINK STALLS: There will be a variety of food and drink stalls at the festival! Teddy Montgomery and James Reynolds will be running a homemade pumpkin pie stall, Vivienne Parihk will have a stall filled with delicious goodies straight from Delia’s Cafe, Carly Ortiz will have a stall with all her tasty home-baked treats, Nassar Ramzy will have a selection of appetisers from Infusion, and Cecily Lightwood and will both be running her own food stall. 

CRAFT STALLS: No Fall festival would be complete without tons of fun crafts for both adults and children alike! Enzo Di Traglia and Jackie Lockwood will have a crafts stall to make felt wreaths and will also be selling Jackie’s own autumn wreaths and plants. Xavier Bhandari and Cassidy Min will also be assisting with face painting, and there will be other stalls for pumpkin carving, making autumn-inspired drinks and decorating cookies and more!

MERCHANDISE STALLS: The lovely locals of Moorbrooke will be selling their beautiful handmade trinkets, from jewellery, to knitted clothes, to candles and scents, to stationary, to household decorations, to plants, and more!

MISC STALLS: Alongside the other fun stalls, Sylvia De La Fuente will be running an adoption booth to help foster kittens find homes and Felicity Pierce will be helping out at Roecliffe Theater’s Booth, handing out flyers for upcoming performances. 

RIDES & ENTERTAINMENT: During the festival week, there will be plenty of rides for Moorbrookers to experience. There will also be entertainment throughout the week, from DJ music to dancers to live musicians.

SECURITY & FIRST AIDERS: To keep our Moorbrookers safe throughout the festival, Sasha Rabinowitz has volunteered to work as a first aider during the week and Tobias Min will be there as an EMT. 

OOC INFORMATION

This event will begin on Friday 14th October and will end on Friday 21st October. We will make a seperate post when the event has begun so members are aware. Participation is not mandatory, however it would be lovely to see as many members as possible getting involved. You will not be required to drop non-event threads during the event and once the event is over, you are welcome to continue your event threads for as long as you wish. Please ensure that any open starters are tagged with mbevent and also tag the starter blog so we can reblog it there.

SNL Rehearsal

I heard about the Family Feud/Harry as Keanu sketch that was cut from SNL in the SNL Standby Line podcast (thanks to @lordendsavior‘s anon for the tip). Other Harry-related stuff they said - 

Pizza Mom - in this sketch they’re filming a commercial for a family pizza restaurant. Heidi and Harry are brother and sister, and Kate plays their mother. They’re all talking about how good the pizza is and Mom says the pizza is so delicious she’s “horny for it”. The ‘kids’ get super embarrassed and tell her she can’t say that. Then Mom pulls a Mom Guilt thing and refuses to say her line because her kids have shamed her. They try to reassure her and she starts getting upset about how Harry’s character is going off to college and they won’t need her and they’re both like, “No, you’re OUR MOM”.   Kate (Mom) put pulls Harry’s head down to her bosom and says “Say it again!”

Prison Sketch - HARRY IN PRISON CLOTHES WITH A SLEDGEHAMMER. The prisoners are singing together to pass the time, talking about their experiences and how they got there. The big gag is that Harry’s song is like, “prison’s not that bad”, “I like prison”. The whole joke is that Harry’s a snitch who’s being spoiled in prison.  Like  he’s drinking a little coconut drink and then the warden brings him out a cherry pie which he completely scarfed for real. He’s sleeping with the warden’s wife (Heidi), because the warden can’t please her so gets someone else to do it, and she was all over him while he was scarfing this pie.

Airline Sketch - in the rehearsal Harry broke and laughed when he was delivering the Scooby Doo line.

Faye & The Newsboys - in the rehearsal Harry was sitting with Cecily on the moonbeam too, cuddled on the little moon together. He also danced with everyone at the end in the sketch, but in the live show he had to rush off to get changed for his performance.

DJ Casket Twins - in rehearsal Harry was breaking quite a bit - not quite breaking but the corner of his mouth was going, he was  trying not to laugh. The ripping off of the pants was a bit more synchronised. And when he was turning around shaking his butt his face was to the stage and he was laughing and it was adorable.

Another little mention was that in the rehearsal, later in the show between set-ups Harry was dancing with Keenan and Chris off stage to the house band. They said he didn’t seem to have much nerves by then and it was nice to see him being part of it with the cast.

They commented that the rehearsal audience was much better than the live audience. “The Harry girls” were screaming at everything he was doing, but the general audience was also laughing and responding to jokes and applauding. But in the live show, it didn’t sound like the audience reacted as much. They were wondering if, because the producers heard how loud the Harry fangirls were in rehearsal, they may have turned down the mics so they weren’t heard as much. And that may have made it appear like the audience overall wasn’t as loud.

SNL seems to have changed the rules for the standby rule after the epic sleepout line for Harry.

thank you for prompting! i thought i’d write a little thing about what happened after seth told stefon he could be his valentine. here’s the sketch where that happens if you want to watch it. i’m sure this has been explored before, but i wanted to add my take to it! :)

Seth isn’t sure how it comes tumbling out of him. It’s not written on his cue card, and it’s not something he thought of before he went on. It’s just that--even if it’s a bit, Stefon sounds kind of sad as he beckons to the audience and pulls out his bottom lip, and how could someone like him be alone on Valentine’s Day? How could such a lively person who seems to have so many friends not have someone to go out with? There’s a pang right in the middle of Seth’s chest.

“Well, maybe just for tonight,” he decides, shifting in his chair, “And just for tonight,” he adds, though it feels like it’s a reminder to himself more than anything else, “You can be my Valentine.”

Stefon’s face lights up. “Really?”

“Yeah.” Seth feels a smile tug on the corners of his lips. “I guess I got struck by Jewpid’s arrow.”

The audience chuckles as Stefon raises a hand, exclaiming, “L’chaim!” Seth signs off, taps the table for Amy, and on a whim, leans forward to give his party monster an awkward but earnest hug.

When the show is over, Seth slips his jacket off in his office and undoes his tie, rolling up the sleeves to the forearm. It may be February, but 30 Rock always gets hot. He hears the familiar soft, airy voice in the hallway, talking to Cecily. When he finds his way into the hallway, Cecily slips away with a wave. It seems like every time Seth joins a conversation with Stefon in it, they’re left alone. “So, I know it’s kind of late,” Seth begins. Stefon tilts his head, intrigued. “But I thought we could go to the diner by Central Park? I know it’s not super fancy, so if you’re let down I--”

“Oh, Seth Meyers,” Stefon’s voice is light and his eyes are wide. “You don’t have to take me out.”

“But, you’re my Valentine,” Seth replies, a little confused. “For tonight, right? If you don’t want to go out, I get it, we can just watch a movie or something.” He’s down for almost anything, though he’s surprised at the thought of Stefon not wanting to go out.

“I thought--I guess Stefon thought that you didn’t actually want to actually...” He lets himself trail off and makes a vague hand motion.

“Stefon, of course I want to!” He says quickly. It’s not something he would’ve joked about; he genuinely wanted Stefon to have a good time on Valentine’s Day. Sure, it was unpredictable, but he was committed now. “Unless you’d prefer not to.”

“No, I’d absolutely love to, Seth Meyers. I’m sorry I didn’t know you meant it.” Stefon gives him a smile that borders on shy. “We can definitely go to the diner.”

“I know it’s not exactly Booooooooof, but it won’t be busy like the other places,” Seth says with a grin. He slips into his office to get his winter coat, and then slips out of 30 Rock with Stefon by his side. It’s not an uncommon sight.

The last time they spent one-on-one time like this, they were in New Hampshire, visiting Seth’s family. His girlfriend had gone to her parents’ and told him to “have fun with Stefon”--he would be lying if he said he didn’t hear the hint of bitterness in her voice. He knows he needs to make that up to her. And he will tomorrow. He promises himself that he will.

But tonight, he’s catching up with Stefon, asking how he rung in the New Year as they make the subway journey to the diner. Stefon tells him all about how he met up with Jacked Beth for the first time in years and they went club hopping, drinking drinks of various neon colors and watching things like burlesque shows that featured acrobats and had encounters with human baby bjorns. Seth giggles the whole way through his story, and Stefon looks pleased with himself, nose scrunching up each time Seth gasps or laughs.

When they get to the diner, there’s only a few other couples there, most of them having quite a few years on both of them. They’re seated by the window, all the lights turning to a blurry painting in Seth’s peripheral vision. Stefon curls into the corner of the booth. “I’m still kind of surprised you really wanted to be my Valentine, Seth Meyers,” he admits after they order their drinks.

“I know it was kind of impromptu,” Seth says. “I guess I just thought...you shouldn’t be alone on Valentine’s Day.” He knows there’s more to it than that, but maybe it’s better to not bring it up right now. It’s not the time or the place.

“It’s nice to be here,” Stefon says. “Let’s do it more often. Not just on Valentine’s Day.”

They’re handed their cups of coffee--Seth puts plenty of cream and sugar in his, and Stefon keeps his black, somehow. They talk about almost anything. Stefon asks how Mrs. Meyers (or Madame Meyers, as he’s begun to call her) is doing, and Seth says she’s expecting a call from him. He asks Stefon how his mother is, and he gives a noncommittal shrug. They talk about a few lighter things, like the sketch John is going to pitch on Monday and the new movies that are out right now. The only time the conversation comes to a halt is when Stefon asks how his girlfriend is and Seth is unsure how to answer, because it’s only then that he realizes he doesn’t really know. “She’s fine,” he answers, quietly. They shovel food in their mouths for a few tense moments, before Stefon begins talking about DJ Baby Bok Choy’s new remix.

They leave the diner after three cups of coffee each and a shared piece of pie for dessert. They’re smiling again and making jokes, and Seth promises to take Stefon home even though Stefon says he doesn’t have to. “I want to,” Seth declares, and that’s that.

He walks him up the stairs to his studio apartment, and they linger in the doorway for a little bit, not wanting to say goodbye just yet. “Thanks for being my Valentine, Seth Meyers.” He smiles sweetly.

“Next year I’ll have a plan, I promise.”

“Next year?”

“Oh, I mean...if you’d like.”

“‘Course Stefon would like it,” he says.

“I would like it, too.” They linger a little more, unsure of what to say. “But it’s late and I guess I have to go home.”

“A shame,” Stefon pouts a little. “But you do have a day job.”

“If you can call it that,” Seth chuckles. “Um, I’ll see you, Stefon. Sooner rather than later?”

“Yes, of course.” He smiles that sweet smile again, and before Seth can stop himself, he leans in and kisses him. It’s just lips pressed against lips at first, but then Stefon melts into it, and he doesn’t know how long they’re standing there, lips sliding over each other almost lazily. The taste of coffee and cake still lingers, and the warmth of it brings heat to Seth’s body, from the top of his head to his ice cold fingers. When he pulls away, they both look dazed, like they just came up from being underwater.

“I-” Seth begins, but he can’t find the end to the sentence. “We-”

“Shouldn’t,” Stefon finishes it.

“Yes, but-”

“You-”

“I- Can we-”

“Again?” Stefon asks.

“Yes. Do you want to? Again?”

Stefon nods emphatically, and pulls Seth in by his waist, the door shutting behind them.

This weekend, Harry Styles made his hosting debut on Saturday Night Live and showed up in nearly every sketch, revealing that he truly does have the range when it comes to playing kooky characters. He played a washed musical theater newsboy, a funeral DJ inspired by the EDM duo LMFAO, a drug dealer’s henchman, and a literal chihuahua. But his best performance by far came during the chaotic sketch “Sara Lee,” written by SNL’s queer faves Bowen Yang and Julio Torres, in which Styles plays a gay social media manager who gets reprimanded for posting thirsty comments on the company’s main Instagram account. (Yes, we’re biased.)

Styles been getting queer fans extra amped as he plots the release of his next solo record, Fine Line (out December 13). The former One Direction singer has previously said that he doesn’t feel the need to label his sexuality, but Styles’ SNL appearance was full of queer moments, even if it was for ridiculous bread-related skits. We rounded up the best of this weekend’s episode below, from that flying-related entendre to possibly the first time the phrase “poppers high” has been uttered on the show.

A Reference to Delta Censoring Booksmart’s Lesbian Content

In “Airline Pilots,” Styles and SNL cast member Mikey Day play two horny co-pilots who start talking about their sex lives in excruciatingly explicit detail, a conversation that’s mistakenly broadcast to the whole plane cabin. After Day announces that the airline’s featured movie is Booksmart, which is “fun for the whole family,” Styles hops on the microphone to add: “Maybe not the whole family, there’s some lesbian stuff in there… But I don’t think you see them going down on each other or anything.” The comment elicits even more anxiety from the passengers, who immediately assume that “going down” means that the plane is about to crash. But the comment also poked fun at Delta Airlines’ recent decision to censor LGBTQ+ love scenes in versions of Booksmart and Rocketman shown onboard, a move that elicited widespread criticism (and that the airline eventually reversed).

Lots of Gucci and Christopher Kane

It’s no surprise that Styles chose to wear Gucci while pulling SNL double-duty, given he’s an ambassador for the brand and super tight with Alessandro Michele. But the very last goodbye shot saw Styles wearing a Christopher Kane t-shirt that had one word on it: “Sex.” The queer designer loves to play with sexual references, but this might be his most minimal.

For the live TV debut of “Lights Up,” Styles donned a black sequined jumpsuit — a very glam outfit that seems to be inspired by queer rockers past, Prince and Freddie Mercury.

That Wild “Sara Lee” Sketch

Undoubtedly the best skit of the night, “Sara Lee” sees Styles playing an Instagram manager named Dylan, who gets called into a meeting to discuss “some activity on the account that’s a little off-message.” Hilariously, that activity ended up being comments on Nick Jonas photos saying, “Wreck me daddy,” and “Destroy me king.”

Dylan explains to his bosses (Cecily Strong, Bowen Yang) that he’s been getting the Sara Lee account mixed up with his real account, leading to typo-ridden posts about his failed threesomes, explained by the fact that he “wrote that at four in the morning while he was still on a poppers high.” What’s great, too, is that writer Julio Torres makes a cameo, playing a “random fashion twink” on Instagram. Afterwards, Yang took to Twitter to issue an apology: “Me and prodigal son @juliothesquare made Mz. @Harry_Styles say queer nonsense. Very very very sorry to everyone at @SaraLeeDesserts.”

Immediately after the episode aired, viewers flooded Sara Lee’s real Instagram account with horny remarks. For a second, it seemed like the bread company deleted all those comments, but they clarified that they were just hiding them while they were assessing what to do. Turns out, they’re cool with all the eggplant emojis. “We didn’t know about or participate in the creation of the skit so as you can imagine, waking up to all those comments threw us for a bit of a loop,” Sara Lee told the Advocate in a statement on Sunday. “We didn’t delete any comments but did temporarily hide them until we could read through and understand what happened. All comments are now visible and we will be monitoring for any that violate Instagram standards. While the explicit jokes in the skit do not align with Sara Lee Bread’s brand, we know SNL pushes the envelope for laughs and are taking it all in stride.”

And Taylor Swift put on yet another scene-stealing display as she dazzled the crowd at the Miami Gardens in Florida on Saturday alongside supporting acts Camila Cabello, 21, and Charli XCX, 26.

The pop princess, 28, flaunted her toned curves in a sparkling black bodysuit which caught the light at every angle.

Swift shared with her audience her gratitude for their support amid the difficult life experience.

'I just wanted to say we have so, so, so, so much further to go, and I'm so grateful to you guys for being there for me for what was a really, really, horrible part of my life,' she said.
