Smallsound/ Bigsound F*ck Overdrive clone I made.
A comprehensive range of clean boost to blown out amp sounds with this circuit. The sag feature means you can starve the voltage to the distortion when you play hard enough (determined by the threshold and depth). What results is notes that fade and stutter into focus in really interactive ways. I’m excited to try it on drums.
The box I did the swirly water spray paint trick and then used my dremel to grind out the lettering.
Housemate drew me the dogs.

Ibanez Renometer Model No 95
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Weird little guitar pedal today, its an early graphic eq, and a boost. Its an inductor design, so its got more personality then some later EQ. this one came in for a conversion to standard power (I added a sketch of the conversion schematic). IDK why ibanez didn't originally use the same power as their other pedals, its a pretty trivial change.
This could have been an awesome drive pedal, (I added the schematic for conversion to variable boost), but I guess ibanez wasn't thinking of it that way.
I'll probably build one of these for myself once I finish working on this one. Also Im re uploading Dik Hendrik's schematic because his site is down, and I had to pull it off the wayback machiene

DEMTON - multi effects pedal
"In 1975, 1 year later, 50 years ago, I built myself a multi-effects pedal, I think it might have been the first multi-effects in the country. I had never seen anything like it before.
The entire mechanism was also self-made.
Its special feature was that the Wah and Volume pedals were already optoelectronic, not potentiometers. Noiseless and squeak-free.
It had WAH, Phase shifter, compressor and distortion. The sequence of WAH and distortion could be changed with a switch. And the distortion was adjusted with 6 selectable sound volt switches and coiled inductive filters. I loved it very much."
"I think Hungary's first multi-effects pedal was completed in 1977 :-) I outgrew the old simple distortion and wanted to imitate the professional sounds. The little devil was moving in my brain and didn't leave me alone until I created this pedal. This was the content of WAH - Phase shifter - Fuzz - Compressor . The Fuzz and WAH order could be switched with a switch.  It was particularly interesting that even then the Volume and WAH were made with optical control without a potentiometer! The Phase Shifter was a copy of a Roland Phaser, I cringed the most because the phase shifting was done by 6 RC members, which were controlled by 6 FETs at the same time. After construction, it sounded pretty bad. In my frustration, I messed around until I realized that the FETs must be exactly the same. Luckily for me, the local parts store had approx. It has 150 FETs, from which I was able to select the 6 identical ones. The result spoke for itself. And I began to learn the profession more and more. Thanks to a bit of luck, it came back to me."

my DOD FX59 Thrash Master got here today. pictures can’t convey just how pink it is.
I wanted to take a look at the circuit, and when I did I realized how easy swapping the status LED would be, and how desperately it was begging for a pink LED instead of a dim red one. So I did!
A quick A/B between the Crock and DOD and they don’t sound the same. maybe I’ll record the differences sometime.

More vinyl cutting, this one for decorating a project that's been a bit on the back burner:
Tumblr media
This is (or will be) a passive patch bay. Each 3.5mm jack on the top will be wired directly to a ¼" jack on the side panels; this will let me connect things like guitar effects or amplifiers to the side jacks and change their routing around by patching the top jacks with cables in order to rearrange signal paths or similar.
The reason this project is unfinished is then kind of obvious: I have to point-to-point wire all 18 pairs of jacks. The process will be made a little easier by just tying all the grounds together, but wire management is still going to be a bear.

i could talk about these for HOURS, they're all my effects pedals!! i haven't fully tapped into all of them but i've been doing a lot of recording lately so i'll probably make some pretty noises with all of them some day in the near future :>
the first picture's order is all wonky because that's the order i have the pedals in the chain
1. EHX' Mel-9 (Mellotron emulator)
2. Alexander Pedals' Defender (OD/DST/FZ)
3. TC Electronic's Grand Magus (RAT similar)
4. Behringer's Noise Reducer (i use mostly as a mute when tuning)
5. TC Electronic's Afterglow (chorus)
6. Donner's Mod Square II (16 modulation in a mini casing)
7. TC Electronic's Hall of Fame 2 (digital reverb)
8. EHX' Oceans 12 (dual digital reverb/delay)
9. homemade JHS Little Black Box copy (1 setting buffer)
---not on the board---
10. TC Electronic's Sub'n'Up (octave)
11. Proco's RAT (distortion/fuzzish?) this one gets put back on the board every now and the
12. Dunlop's Crybaby (wah-wah)
13. Danelectro's Dan-Echo (echo/delay)
14. Joyo's Wow-Wah (auto-wah)
15. Donner's Echo Square
16. BOSS' ODB-3 (bass overdrive) i use this a lot when i play bass :)
17. BOSS' LMB-3 (bass limiter/enhancer)
18. BOSS' RBF-10 (rack mount flanger)
19. Danelectro's EStudio Honeytone E-15 (my dad's headphone amp from the mid-late '90s, not really a pedal but it can sorta be)
secret 20. 1-Spot Pro (power supply under the board, also not really a pedal but it's essential for the rig)

Another pre-amp/DI finished! This one is for me, to replace the old prototype unit Ive been using. That one was only ever ment for testing, but I ended up selling all the others, so Ive used that prototype in my setup for years now, even though its been slightly broken the whole time.

Made me first guitar pedal kit last night! It's a clone based off the rare Ibanez MT10 Mostortion pedal. Big in Nashville, but the original circuit sells for $650-1K depending, so the next best option was to make it my own damn self.
