incomplete, incomprehensible, incoherent list of shit that helps me with understimulation
energy drinks (followed up by lots of water because i want to save what kidney function i have left)
spinning in a desk chair until i feel like im turning green
walking through frat row on a friday night
chewing gum
ordering enough espresso over ice that it looks like a cold brew
diy shows in a mildewy, sweaty basement
working boh during dinner rush
listening to very very very very loud music
chosing the "hot" spice level for thai curry
swimming in a spring-fed creek in early april
listening to a chaotic podcast where everyone is talking over each other and a ton of random shit is happening (well there's your problem is perfect for this)
sometimes I think I’m just being out of touch and looking back on a past i didn’t live through with rose colored glasses but no I think we are living in a uniquely isolated time in every sector of life
I'm coming back to this platform bc I accepted twitter's fate.
If we've never met, or if it's been a while, hello, my name is Brianna Carmel, I am a DIY singer-songwriter with a folkpunk soul, who also sings in a sadcore indie pop band called Blooming Heads (photo from our most recent show seen above). Based in Sacramento, CA. Our biggest accomplishment so far was probably opening for Crywank when they stopped at the Starlet Room, during their first ever US tour back in August.
This is a photo of us with Jay from Crywank. They are a sweetheart. :)
I happened to have just put out a solo EP of three ukulele tracks, thanks to my bandmate from Blooming Heads, Josiah Masteller, who did the recording, mixing, and mastering for all three tracks. I'd also like to shout-out my friends @xahferd and @lokeigh for helping me with the gang vocals on the second track. This might be the solo release I am the most proud of.
It's currently bandcamp-exclusive, but I'm going to get it up on spotify, youtube music, etc., in the near future. In the meantime, you can stream it there, and if you really like it, you can buy it digitally for $3 (or more, if you're feeling especially generous).
Also, I book DIY shows in the Sacramento-area! I have for years under the moniker 916 Growth Gigs, I work with bands and artists from a lot of different genres, and I have connects at a couple all ages DIY venues, a 21+ venue, and when the stars align just right, I occasionally throw a house show. I like to throw acoustic shows at local parks as well, as seen above, but it's November, so I probably can't do that again for a while, lol. If you want to book something with me, DM @/916.growth.gigs on instagram :)
If you want to keep up with me elsewhere--bc I will probably remain on twitter until it collapses--I have a carrd with all my socials (including my Patreon, which is only $2/month).
video of my friend zoe performing in her band kidz help fone in the punk house basement. start of this song ruby lit zoe a cigarette cause basements allowed only one cig at a time so they passed it around :3 i thought it was a funny little interaction thing to follow
I have been hyperfixated on Stony for almost three years and I was starting to think that it was going to be permanent...
Then YouTube shorts began showing me clips from a show. That led to 7-10 minute videos which then had me buying a Peacock subscription. Then I saw this video and the rest is history.
So, everyone say thank you to YouTube shorts for introducing me to House M.D. The show that single handedly dethroned Stony from my hyperfocus spot all thanks to a grueling DIY chemo treatment!
