i don’t know who needs to hear this, but disabled punks, you don’t have to go into the pit to have a good time. don’t put yourself in an uncomfortable situation if you don’t think you’d enjoy it.
at the same time, let’s not judge disabled people who do want be in the pit! some people will actively choose to mosh knowing it might cause pain/a flare-up and, in the politest way possible, it’s really not your business. it’s their body and only they should get to make those decisions. i will always encourage being in tune with your own needs and not pushing yourself too far, but like everyone else, it’s a risk many take and accept when getting into the pit. a lot of us are gonna be disabled our whole lives. we should be allowed to do fun things too

mosh pit advice
i figure it wouldnt hurt to just post before i make an ask. any tips for being in the pit? im seeing Imminence next year, and i plan to get barricade. and it'll actually be my first metal show in gen and in the pit. ive been in the pit before once, so i know what its like to be standing for that long around others and such. but i am not keen on moshing, i would actually like to avoid it at all costs. im a pretty small girl, not even 5'5, and i will be by myself, too. i mean, is getting barricade a good/ the best move? my logic thinks so, because if anything i could just hold on to it, and from what ive seen the mosh doesnt really impact barricade, but is in it's vicinity behind, and you join at your own will. this would be my first experience, though, so i figure id attempt asking. i know people are usually respectful, but i have witnessed my fair share of horrible concert etiquette, and im just a girl with crowd anxiety at the end of the day. and adding the potential of a bunch of people, majority grown men twice my size thrashing around, does not make me feel good. so, the idea of not getting barricade scares me because i could potentially be in the area of a mosh, and the idea of trying to escape it sounds like my personal hell, especially because i simply cant avoid factoring in my size and lack of strengh. I know it may sound a bit theatrical, though, because im sure i will very obviously be able to see a mosh forming and step back with ample time left to spare. but i wouldnt be asking if there wasn't a sliver of paranoia that remains. I could also move to the very back, but then i could potentially lose my view if people choose to be rude and not let me back in my place, which i have seen before. so if youre like me, or have just actively avoided the mosh before, please let me know what you do at metal/hardcore/punk/rock/alt shows when youre in the pit to and want to avoid the mosh, whether that be placement in the pit, talking to people around you, or whatever it is. honestly any advice or experience would help. thanks!

The ransackers performing at victory square before their performance got shut down by the cops. Theyre @theransackers on instagram. It's a cool local punk rock band.

After the events of last night I've concluded that my new pocket needs snaps. Unfortunately I only have two backs and no fronts. Such is the life god has cursed me to.

I'm still sort of irritated about not managing to get to Stockholm for one show a couple of months ago, largely for disability reasons. Extra shitty, since I wouldn't have hesitated to hop on a train for that otherwise. Wouldn't have minded poking around Stockholm again either, with no particular itinerary.
But, there's not that excuse for another one that I just saw is coming up next month:
Explicitly listing the planned timetable for each act involved struck me as just amusingly Swedish.
At the one main "alternative" venue here in town (as in, about 15 minutes away on the bus that stops right out front), which I have been meaning to check out anyway. They do get some decent acts there.
This one also features Trubbel, plus a few other bands I'm not familiar with. Including a couple of local ones I should probably check out. (Hell, I wouldn't be surprised if Hjelle might also be there, if not performing this time. Because local music scenes.)
Plan B's accessibility info also looks decent, even if someone did decide to use a pic of some shitty hospital transport chair in the header. From what I have seen of the place, wouldn't necessarily anticipate anybody trying to stick me in some substandard designated area back in a corner where you can't see anything, as soon as I rolled up. They certainly don't mention anything like that, not that I would be inclined to cooperate too well anyway.
Hell, this is about as wild as I've seen crowds there get (not even kidding); my grouchy middle-aged crip ass would most likely be comfortable enough right up front. Probably just as well that I've just about had my fill of pit action over the years anyway, is all I can say. Maybe you'd have better luck finding that across the bridge in Copenhagen, I really couldn't say at this point.
But yeah, glad to see a decent more accessible opportunity I'm interested in which doesn't require much travel, the way things have been. Says person who used to need to drive at least 4 hours to get to most shows they were interested in--but also was better set up to do that, in just about every respect but spare time and money. Got more of both at my disposal these days, so just about everything else gets more complicated!

Intralternate three: "Młodzież gra za dużo na komputerach"
English translation:
[Izaya's house]
I: Hey, have you ever been to a punk show?
S: I'm 5'7 and I wear glasses, If I'd gone, they'd be gathering me up from there like an empty can of coca-cola.
I: Go with me and I'll protect you.
S: You look like a wet rat yourself.
I: But at least I'm a rat in leather!
[later]
I: they completely fooled us. Fuck.
S: Now what was that law in '97 for?
I: Are you going with mommy?
S: No, you?
I: No way.
S: Come on, I have Sonic on my DS.
