Home renovation involves updating or improving your living space to enhance its functionality, aesthetics, or value. Whether you’re looking to modernize your kitchen, add a new room, or refresh your living room decor, home renovation can breathe new life into your home.
Tumblr media
Here’s a simple guide to get started:
Plan Your Renovation: Identify the areas you want to renovate and set a budget. Decide on the style and features you want.
Hire Professionals: Depending on the scope of your renovation, you may need contractors, designers, or architects. Research and hire qualified professionals to ensure quality work.
Obtain Permits: For major renovations, check if you need any permits or approvals from local authorities.
Execute the Renovation: Begin the renovation work as per the plan. Ensure regular communication with your contractor to address any issues.
Finishing Touches: Once the renovation is complete, add final touches like paint, furniture, and decorations to make the space truly yours.
Home renovation not only improves your living environment but can also increase the value of your property.

Pray for us, Tumblr. Today my wife and I are going to go rent a large and intimidating device from the hardware store to try to blow fire-retardant recycled paper insulation into the walls of our dining room. APPARENTLY the dining room used to be like a 3 season porch and it is not insulated. We’ve been just sort of sealing it off all winter, paying outrageous heating bills. I though we’d have to wait till summer to both replace the very damaged siding and put in new insulation but it turns out we can blow it in from the inside so we’re trying that. We still have a lot of cold weather ahead of us in MN. (It’s a comparatively balmy 22F right now) so it’s still well worth it to get it done this winter.
This is like a 1 hour job for ppl who know what they’re doing. But we are. Not that. And the “advice” I got from the one neighbor whose done this before consisted mainly of pitying laughter. So we’ll see how this goes! I’ll let you know.
Update: forgot the Menards is for MANY MEN and PROFESSIONALS and they only rent a 300 lb industrial machine for reason. Imagine lugging this up to your attic. Bad boy is proper steel.
Tumblr media
We will not be deterred. I am determined to be one of those middle aged queers who does a bunch of DIY projects to their very old house. On to the next hardware store!

Insulate
QUITE a while ago, last fall, I was up in the attic and noticed light where there shouldn’t have been light. It turned out that there was a gap where the wall and the ceiling of the bathroom below met. We had renovated the bathroom, but (as with so many other projects) the final piece of moulding was never put up. Since the attic isn’t heated, that meant that we were losing a steady draft of warm air from the bathroom. I found strip insulation in amongst the tools and home-repair Stuff in the furnace room and.
Yeah. So, TODAY, end of March, I got the step ladder and pushed the insulation up into that gap. It’s a very good fit, and my house stepladder is a stable, easy-to-use delight. I’m working on self-compassion, and late truly IS better than never. It will help out next winter, and all the winters after.
Then I went outside to take a walk in the woods. For the agonies.
I have an appointment with a lawyer this afternoon, for Estate bullshit Stuff and then I will deliver the finished painting.

help oh my god I have to take my dryer apart??? and fix it?? Or idk…..blow dry all my laundry or something /????? What even are my other options???? Listen to the obscene rattling noise and lose my little autistic mind??? Noooooo!! NOOOO!!!!!
Also what if whatever is causing the noise also causes the whole machine to spontaneously combust into flames I do not own a fire extinguisher?? Which I should own! Haha fuck! My mind is going so many places rn!!!
I love fixing things but I have no idea what I’m doing and I only have one fully functional hand and my only power tools unfortunately are a drill and a little baby jigsaw which will not help me. I hope I don’t need a saw to fix a dryer anyway. Also I’ve never taken apart an appliance??? On;ly ever worked with wood????
“Money doesn’t buy happiness” hahahhahahhahahahhahhahahahhahahhahhahah no but it would get my home serviced it would get my appliances in working order it would get me hot water and dry clothes! Hahah!!!
I’m doing okay truly
