You love the beach and studying the sea life. Something about the cool breeze of the ocean, the taste of salty sand, and fish jumping out of the water makes you happy. Going through years of school, many hours of internships, and a lot of tears to become a Marine Biologist.

Once graduated you got yourself a job at Hybrid SeaLife Shelter. Not a job that you were hoping for, you wanted to work strictly with just animals not animals that were part humans but it pays the bills. It was fascinating actually, animal instincts clashed with human tendencies.

"You're assigned to the shark hybrids, Ms y/n." Your coworkers shivered, wide eyed at you when hearing your assignment as the manager looks without a care in the world. The shark hybrids weren't bad, you liked that they got their own pool with a nice view of the beach, plus two of the shark hybrids are less scary in nature except for one.

You looked at the folder with information about the hybrids. One paper titled "Kang Taehyun" accessorized with bold red statement, "agressive." You breathe deep, mentally going over a list of what to do with the great white shark hybrid. Don't go into his pool that’s his territory, cover any cuts you will have to get the scent of blood out of his sight, feed him plenty, remember to hide toys in the pool so he can hunt. This is not so bad right?

The other sharks were very cute and calm. One was a tall whale shark hybrid, she slowly swam throughout the pool, next pool was the nurse shark hybrid who spent most of her time on the pool floor reading a waterproof book about well... nursing. In a good mood, it was time to go to Taehyun's pool, it was big, dark, and full of rocks that stacked to let him hide. You look around not able to find him, you don't know if you should be worried or not.

Turning around to get the supplies ready you miss the sight of a dorsal fin above water gliding closer and closer to your way. You gasp at the feel of what seems like buckets of water being splashed on you. Whipping around to get a quick glance of the great white hybrid, his sharp toothy grin, paired with a few scars on his lips, his hair was wet shining the silvery color, water dripping down his neck accessorized with gills, his build was strong as you see his muscular arms flex as he dives into the water swimming away. You learned your first lesson, never turn you back on Taehyun.

It was feeding time, the great white was picky he needed certain size fish of certain quantities. This made it a little difficult as you had to crouch at the end of the pool opening without a table or any other supplies so that you weren't getting a surprise shower.

The penguin hybrids were out playing, familiar with them they all said their "hi's" and waddled away until one of them, Kai, was playing with a polar bear hybrid, Beomgyu. You tell them to stop running along the pool but they don't and proceed to accidentally knocking you off balance cutting yourself while falling into the shark's pool.

Taehyun hiding behind the rocks waiting for his food catches scent of you. You're in his pool, your sweet blood is infecting his pool, his chest fills like it was burning, if he doesn't do anything now you're going to be his next meal.

You're mind is in shock, you have excellent swimming techniques, but the fact that you were pushed in a predator's pool, and the pain of your hand increases you don't know what to do with yourself.

Taehyun swims so fast the water makes a wave helping your drowning body come up. His arms wrap around you lifting you out of the water placing you gently on the surface. He stares at you waiting for any sign of breathing. He stares at your peaceful body glancing at the bloody hand although close to death you looked beautiful to him. He leans closer to get a better look but you choke back up water in exchange for air making Tae quickly reach for his bag of fish food and swim away.

The next day you were cautious about your surroundings especially when it came to feeding time again. While getting supplies in your peripheral vision you see the dorsal fin. "Don't you dare splash me" to your surprise the shark's head pops up with a frown.

"How’s your hand?" your eyes widen at the voice this would be the first time the shark has every spoken to you. You look to see the shark studying your bandaged palm. "It could be worse."

The man's big sparkling eyes look up into yours. Was that concern in those eyes? Is this big scary predator caring? "Come here" you without hesitation you walk towards him at the end of the pool. Taehyun stares at you not saying anything, you then lower yourself on your knees to get somewhat eye level. You’re stunned when quick movements were made, Taehyun's toned torso splashes out of the water as his arm reaches for your neck. He pulls you down close to his face, "Don't ever go into my territory again unless you want me to split you in half."

Your eyes begin to water in fear, looking into his eyes you notice the pure joy of having dominance over you. Taking a deep breath as best as you could with the webbed hand on your throat, you raise your bandaged palm out. Taehyun looks at it confused until your fingers press down on his sensitive nose leading him back down to the water. Both of you hold intense eye contact this son of a bitch liked that the squint in his boba eyes and small smirk sitting at the water's surface had your head spinning you couldn't react fast enough before he splashes your face with water.

Interestingly, after that encounter Taehyun hasn't been hiding every time you come along his pool. He tends to show off his swimming, and every time you got dizzy with his sharp turns and overly exposed muscles. He still playfully splashes you, he could never admit this but he likes how your wet clothes cling to your body. More and more you got to admire the pointy teeth as the great white shark hybrid smiled during his time with you.

Today was physical assessment for the hybrids, when you had to check their basics such as height, weight, temperature, and more. An addition to having water hybrids they needed to be tested on their abilities inside water. You were thrilled when you found out that the facility set up a private pool, a rocky crater along the beach. It is nice to have the hybrids leave their boring home and see something new.

The crater was big, a hole in a cliff next to the ocean clear water filled the hole making a deep blue pool perfect to swim in. A wooden bridge built above the water easy for visitors to get in and out of the water. The place had the assessment tools towels, water, measure tape, timer, paper and pen.

You did the assessments separately for privacy. The whale shark and nurse shark giggle and share results of their swimming time they left to join the other hybrids leaving you and Taehyun.

Your hands were shaking while assessing the great white shark. Wrapping the measuring tape around his naked slim waist, he smirks as you bite your lip in concentration. You ask him to turn around to check his dorsal fin, your soft fingers lightly graze over the silky flesh making the man shiver. You tap his shoulder as a sign to turn and as he does his body get a close to yours.

Your face becomes red by the intimate presence of the shark. You can feel his eyes burning into you. "y/n" you quickly look up getting a closer look of his dark eyes above his cute sharp nose "aren't you supposed to test my swimming?" Torn away from your heated fit you quickly get the watch timer set, "whenever you're ready." Taehyun smirks at your flustered state diving into the water. There you got to watch his effortless swimming techniques leaving you in awe.

He passed with flying colors, you seemed more excited about it than he was. Looking at his perfect numbers you realize he was in the water staring at you, "Aren't you going to get out?"

"I need help doing so," he reaches his hand out for yours. You were confused knowing that he was more than capable to get out by himself but you helped anyways. Grabbing his webbed hand you see his infamous smirk instantly telling you that this was one of his tricks again. You were pulled into the sapphire water quickly swimming up for air. Wiping the water off your eyelashes you smack the man, "What was that for?"

All Taehyun does is giggle "you're just too easy to mess with." You grunt rolling your eyes as you swim to the ladder. Reaching for the metal pole you suddenly felt his body against yours. Turning around you see a different look in his eyes, something dark, something to fear. "Why are you running away?"

"I'm not I-i'm just-" his face was close to yours, nose brushing against yours. Whole body looming over yours, you feel his hands grabbing your waist trapping you in the water. "You shouldn't turn your back on a shark, they'll think you're prey."

You let out a pathetic whimper making Tae smirk. Lips so close to yours, "You think I can have a little taste?" Before you could nod he already pressed into a deep hungry kiss. You're stunned by state of events you have yourself in but you couldn't stop. Humming into his sweet kiss told Taehyun that you were getting too comfortable. The tender moment becomes animalistic as his sharp teeth scrape your lips making you cry out so that Tae could dart his tongue in.

It wasn't long until you were clawing at Tae's shoulders pleading for a gasp of air. "You humans and your need for air" he says backing away. Still catching your breath you watch as his body disappears into the water, the calm before the storm.

You gasp as you feel his face shoved in between your legs, nose rubbing against your swimming bottoms. He rids the garment shoving it into your mouth. You cough out the water running down your throat but inhale more as you feel Taehyun's tongue lap up your wetness underwater. the crew made fun of him after coming back from the zoo with a bald patch at the back of his head.

a giraffe thought his hair was grass and you had to pull him away just so he wouldn’t be tempted to use his swords on them

Listen y'all we all know the canon event where lil bro got stuck in a hole when he was a kid. Little polar bear scout cub, ice broke under him, got trapped in a deep little hole and was left all alone while waiting for the others to *maybe* figure out a way to rescue him.

Now the guys claustrophobic, HOWEVER-

bro coulda died

how long was he left all alone, possibly for the first time as a kid? he didn't even have his twin that's like, that's terrifying-

did he wonder if they'd even come back? If they'd even be able to find a way to get him out lest he freeze or starve to death in a hole? Rationally we'd assume hey they'd find an adult if they failed, but cmon, a panicked kid is not gonna assume that.

do you think he wouldn't have tried to escape on his own? only to fail and fail? helpless?

In the earlier seasons of The Octonauts, there was a certain incident that always stuck out to me, even when I watched it years ago-

OCTONAUTS AND THE MANATEES

During this episode, captain barnacles had been out driving the GUP-A when it was struck by lightening. Soon after, the octonauts realize there's a group of manatees that are close to the surface of the dangerous thunderstorm. Their plan is to transport the manatees to the octopod during the storm since manatees can't just dive down because they need to breathe air.

Barnacles has open communication and guides them all step by step for this entire operation, complications and all, through his octo compass.

Even though Barnacles tried to ignore the lightening strike by diving deeper into the water, the GUP still got struck, which caused to spin out of control and crash. Even the spread of electricity in the water is dangerous. As a result, he got his forearm crushed and stuck under a clam for the entire sequence of events I'm going to describe.

Sounds the octoalert realizing the danger the manatees are in by using a piece of seaweed and sticky limpet to grab onto his octo compass.

Barnacles claims he's "doing something else at the moment" when questioned where he is. He also gets actively stung by a jellyfish during the call and does not inform anyone.

There are BARRACUDAS who might attack the captain because of his shiny octo compass, and he has to struggle to hide behind the clam and some rocks while advising the octonauts about how to handle the manatees slow nature and needs. He does not inform anyone.

Barnacles escapes the BARRACUDAS that were far too close to shredding him alive by essentially jumping off an underwater cliff and ending up on the back of a whale, in which he is violently turned and rolling along the back of.

Barnacles is launched by the force of the whale's tail into an actual shipwreck. He continues to guide them through the difficulties of the mission due to the fact there is still one manatee left that may not be able to be transported to the octopod in time.

Barnacles air tank is on low and is actively running out before his eyes, he struggles with removing his arm from the heavy clam as he attempts to use a piece of wood to pry his arm out. He does not tell anyone.

Barnacles manages to escape at the last moment, and is forced to forfeit wearing his helmet as there is no oxygen left. Previously they had flipped the GUP D in order to make a safe airpocket in deeper waters for the manatee, which Peso and Kwazii witness the captain (while holding his own breath) swimming too.

He barely made it.

When questioned where he'd been anyways, he lightheartedly states, and I quote, "Oh, let's see... I was uh... struck by lightning, eaten by a giant clam, stung by a jellyfish, attacked by barracudas, escaped off the back of a blue whale, smashed into a shipwreck, freed myself, ran out of air and... eh... Oh yeah, found you."

LIKE LISTEN MAN, I do not care if he "knew what he was doing" or whatever that is NOT a normal OR healthy response! "Oh but the captain always prioritizes protecting others and he understoo-

NO, he could have literally told his crew, and sure, they were in an "all hands on deck" situation, but he didn't even tell anyone! someone else could have adjusted the plan, someone else could have lessened the responsibility, someone else HAD THE POSSIBILITY OF HELPING

hell even if they had to get professor inkling out he probably would've if he knew BARNACLES MIGHTVE BEEN CLOSE TO DYING, the professor gets out just to protect some small fish that cant rely on a lionmaine jellyfish and he deals with literal predators?! why wouldn't he try to help the captain? and does he seriously think NO other member of theoctonauts would try to find a way to help him? Not the crafty tweak? Not the caring peso? not the daring kwazii? That shellington or dashi might not even have a word of advice?

I raise you all a little theory that is true in my heart and in my au, the subconscious question beneath our lovely captain's psyche:

"What if I am trapped and none of them can help me? Will I have to accept that I'm alone? Again?"

What if it was easier to pretend everything was fine and he had everything totally under control? You don't have to rely on others if you can rely on yourself. You don't have to worry if they'll just deem you a lost cause (like what peso asked about the last manatee... if it was even possible to save...) Forced to wait as you're trapped and in pain....

cuz idk if y'all realize but like, (for me I see them living like a blend of how us humans live, but just socially inspired from the wild thing irl. so maybe they got like Earth Sheltered Homes (think hobbit houses) but with snow and whatever) but basically global warming for Arctic Folk of all countries isn't just like "oh no we cant do our VERY IMPORTANT TRADITIONS WEVE CARRIED FOR THOUSANDS OF YEARS" but its also like the loss of cultural jobs, literal homes becoming weaker, more natural disasters and idk about y'all but... doesn't it just feel like their entire culture is dying?

sure, they could just "move somewhere else" but that means giving up their land, not being able to uphold their traditions, being forced into communities that they don't have any social niches for. being forced to lose generational jobs and trades. physically struggling in warmer environments. (I headcanon barnacles has to not just cut and trim his fur, but also has to have a sort of cooling pack system under his clothes cuz bros got blubber yk?)

its literally the death of an ancient culture due to corporate greed, and he's watching it actively die out in real time. That's gut wrenching. I can only image.. how... Helpless he must've felt before he could help others who struggled from disasters too.

Well cmon man I think barnacles deserves to have a side of himself he doesn't want to share!

Like I'm so sorry but if ur telling me I SHOULDNT have made the captain literally get into a real polar bear fight and get the scars (of victory) while trying to protect his own family-

listen I know he's the "lets talk it out even f ur trying to eat me" type, but people aren't animals (very funny to our perspective ik ik) and if someone can fully understand the situation and the threats their making, like animals act on instinct mostly, but people can CHOOSE to suck.

People can CHOOSE to be selfish and greedy, so if you're tired of always trying to talk things out over and over and the guy you FCKING HATE is right there acting threatening and crazy you're absolutely gonna remember the years your sister spent going rough on you in play fights (fond memories and very educational<3) you're absolutely gonna show her how good you are by beating her ex up.

Ohhh, a siren Y/N with the tail of an Acrtic Ribbon Seal would be gorgeous! I haven't seen them before! The colors and ribbons on the fur are lovely! Picturing Eclipse seeing them and immediately going "Mine!" is so augh augh augh

You're going to drown. A polar bear is sitting at the only breathing hole for a good mile or two, and you can't take one gulp of air without the threat of the beast biting your head off. Your lungs are burning.

In the distance, you spy a shadowy figure before the black and white markings solidify and a new panic burns through you, hotter than the suffocation. A large orca siren. You truly are meant to die today.

You stagger in a frazzled fear under the ice, debating on risking the polar bear for just a breath or giving the siren a free meal, but his approach is steady, sinister, yes, but lacking the savagery you'd expect from a siren on the prowl.

He reaches you, all teeth and wide eyes, but he tilts his head in a curious regard. You're not really sure what to do but gesture upwards to the breathing hole and form claws with your hands to signify the threat waiting above. Maybe the two predators will take each other out and you can steal a breath of fresh air. If he gets what you're trying to say, he doesn't seem all that scared, and in fact smirks before swimming into the breathing hole.

You blink, stunned, your lungs on fire with lack of air, and wait for blood or thrashing or something, but the siren's strong black and white tail flickers calmly beside you. Did the polar bear already move along? What is the siren doing?

Darken starts to dot the edges of your vision but before you can flail, a large hand reaches down, snags your wrist, and pulls you up into the narrow breathing hole just inches away from his sinister jaws curved up at the ends. You gasp. You're alive!

You're also entirely cornered by the siren, both of your hot breath mixing into deep smoke as he takes up the already precious space and forces you back against the rim of ice until it bumps against your head. He tightly holds your wrist.

You try to spew a swift thank him and dive back down but he's not letting you go. This close, you can only stare into his glowing eyes before he lifts his hand, water dripping down his dark arm. He tenderly pushes a stray strand of hair from your face and tucks it behind your ear, claws trailing the shell of your ear that elicit a shiver down your body.

He tells you he thought you needed protecting when he first saw you, and he was right. You still do. He'll be the one to do it, and you'll be good, won't you, ribbons?

You can't help but think you don't have a say in the matter with his eyes devouring you from head to tailfin.

Why Octonauts and the caves of Sac Actun is Barnacles’ character at its best!!

This thread might be jumbled and not well organized I’m writing this on a whim, sorryy

As we know, Captain Barnacles is the brave Polar Bear leader of the Octonauts. He’s always put others before himself no matter what, he never let himself be weak around his team.

Even in moments where he was needing bed rest (Cone Snail) (Jellyfish bloom) he still found some sort of way to help. Throughout the entire series however, the only time he showed genuine fear (that I’ve seen) was in the Great Arctic Adventure:

And that was when his sister, Bianca and her cubs were swept up under a wave, but even then he didn’t dare hesitate and he swam like hell to get them into the GUP-A and steer the octopod above water.

Even here in Sac Actun when the GUP H crashes and Peso’s parachute doesn’t work, Barnacles immediately holds him and moves himself out of the path of the GUP H as it falls.

Even when he loses his Octo-Compass and can’t call anyone for help, he doesn’t give up, he and Peso follow some birds and they carry Coba over to a cenote.

Okay I’m not gonna do a play by play lol but what I’m trying to say is, nothing really presses Captain Barnacles to worry until he realizes he has to go through a cave to get Coba to the Caribbean Sea.

But even THEN after he sees how sad Coba is he still goes. He doesn’t bring up anything besides the fact that cave diving is extremely dangerous, especially since they don’t have the proper equipment (they actually almost run out of oxygen later in the movie and Peso cracks his helmet not too long after they get inside)

Throughout the movie, Barnacles has a different vibe about him, he’s usually infront of everyone on missions, he’s incredibly focused and as the captain he’s giving orders or suggestions.

He’s still pretty open and friendly as he usually is but the further they go in the quieter he gets, but Peso is pretty good at bringing him back without thinking.

And even when Peso expresses fear Barnacles, as he always has, gently brings him down to earth, even helping him fix his cracked helmet. And when Peso apologizes he tells him not to worry and to keep calm.

However, at one point Captain Barnacles gets stuck in a hole and acts very “out of character” and starts panicking and literally begs peso to pull him out, which is very, very rare for him.

And that’s when he finally comes forward about his experiences with getting stuck after ice collapsed beneath him as a cub and getting stuck for a long time.

And Peso, honestly the other MVP of this movie in his caring heart tells Captain Barnacles that he’ll be brave for him and this time asks his friend to follow him.

Honestly I’ll give Octonauts this, I don’t know any movie for pre-schoolers that tackles things like this. Of course, they touch on fears, but they always tell you to be brave. But as Captain Barnacles says: “You can’t be brave if you’re not afraid first.”

And it’s true! No one is truly brave without experiencing fear, the bravest people ever once cried for someone to hold them or save them when they were scared.

Even if Barnacles hasn’t explicitly said it, I feel like his experiences with helplessness, along with being raised as a polar scout, pushed him into learning to be brave and kind as he is now.

Bravery with the presence of fear is called courage. And that’s something Barnacles learns in this movie. Thanks to Peso of course.

In a later scene, Barnacles has to push a boulder that’s caught in a tight squeeze to help Coba, he hesitates but on the other side, his crew, his dearest freinds are cheering him on. And at this moment, he puts his fears aside, to complete his mission, but especially To help Coba.

And he pushes himself through the tight tunnel and shoves the boulder out with his polar bear strength. letting Coba and himself out. And he thanks the group for their help and Peso reiterates: “You’ve always helped us be brave, and we will always help you too!”

In a lesser movie, they would’ve made fun of Barnacles, or have his fear last for like 5 minutes, he might have gotten over it by the end, but that’s not really clear.

In later media his fear isn’t ever bought up so I’m assuming he’s over it(?) but it wasn’t bought up in previous episodes of the show. (Even in situations that would trigger it)

But in any case, I’ve never seen a preschool show respectfully and thoughtfully talk about trauma and how to help people with it Of course it doesn’t go too terribly deep into it, but imo, it doesn’t need to. Acknowledging it and having characters show support is a very good way to get that conversation started.

Now, as for Captain Barnacles himself, I believe this is him at his best because for once, he’s vulnerable, and he can truly trust the other Octonauts. He already could, but that was with handling other creatures or taking care of missions, but here? He trusts them with his fear, he trusts them by letting his guard down around him, and they stay with him and stay patient, even Kwazii who almost never has patience already knew about his claustrophobia beforehand, indicating that Barnacles has told him before.

Barnacles is able to feel completely comfortable. And that’s because he is a good leader to the Octonauts, he’s gentle with Peso and his fears, never once has he lost his patience with anyone, so why would they do that to him? When he’s always been a safe place for them. for the Octonauts, whether it’s by protecting them from danger or giving them a pep talk.

Another thing I really love about Sac Actun (And all the Octonauts movies in general tbh) is how, they add to the animation, the backgrounds are notre thurough and the lighting is very pretty, the characters are more expressive.

But they don’t change the art style. Infact, they embrace the art style the show already has, they add to it, the characters move more they express more, but they don’t add little bitty gritty details like fur, nothing wrong with movies doing that.

But I like that they take advantage of the new budget while also sticking to what made the original so lovable.

I don’t know how else to say it I just REALLY love this Netflix special, PLEASE watch it!!!

Have you ever thought about potential patronus animals for the Black family? If so, what kind of animals would fit in your opinion?

As always, your questions make me think a lot. This one is sooo difficult!

Ok, so this might be unpopular but I feel Bella would be a lioness. She is a figure of strength, is territorial, she works hard, perfect hunter that takes down prey twice her size, devoted mother (to her child or to her little sisters) teaching her youngster skills they need to survive, and protecting them so fiercely.

Narcissa is a spider queen. Spiders also have *remarkable* maternal instincts, more developed than in many other species of the earth. Spiders can be aggressive, but also quite peaceful, depending on circumstances. She weaves a beautiful home, but that can also turn into a trap. She isn't showy in her strength, prefers to lure her target into her web, where she can deliver that final, venomous bite to an unsuspecting target that dared trespass against her.

Andromeda is a fox. Cunning, agile and highly adaptable. not overly aggressive, preferring to live their life in stealth mode.

Regulus is a coyote. Almost like a dog, only much shier than a dog, and more cautious. However, when push comes to shove, coyotes are quite territorial and willing to die for what is theirs.

Sirius, obviously, is perfect as a dog. (And I also used him to give Regulus and Andromeda similar patronus forms, from a canidae family, since they are related and one would assume they share traits.)

Ok, so these are the only ones we know from canon, or at least we know something about them that allowed me to try to guess their patronus.

Now, for my head-canon about the rest of the Black family and their personalities, which I depict in 'It runs'.

Waburga is a polar bear. Polar bears are aways striving for the highest possible standards. They are fierce, and they are obsessed with their children. They protect their cubs with their lives, but they also expect their cubs to behave and fall in line. It's a tough life out there, so a polar bear mother needs to teach her youngsters to be ruthless. They love their children, but can be a bit rough in handling them. They can also be very gentle with their cubs, when there's no 'emergency' situation going on. Polar bears are strong, fearless but so lonely. Something about Walburga ending up alone, defined by solitude in her last years, reminds me of a polar bear wandering alone in a harsh, cold environment (Grimmauld, cough cough). Polar bear mamas are also one of the few animals species that become depressed, distressed and vulnerable when they lose a child. They can even stop hunting after such a loss, and waste away.

Orion in 'It runs' is an eagle. Fearless, confident, quite arrogant. Extremely territorial. An eagle will never surrender, regardless of the size or strength of its opponent. It will do anything to regain its territory and it will always defend its nest. Eagles are quite paternal, like most raptors. An eagle father will bring sticks to the nest, and will bring food to the young. When babies fall from nest, a father often dives to catch them on their wings. However, an eagle father also picks favourites, and there's a food hierarchy going on, often choosing to give more food to one baby, encouraging sibling rivalry, which is apparently important for the development of a raptor. Eagle males do form a pair bond with a single female, however, if the female isn't available in mating season, he will find another one.

Cygnus would be a tiger. Not the most paternal, but a fierce predator. They're also one of the few brave enough to get into fights with bears. Tigers and dogs are amongst the few that will look at a bear and go 'yeah, I can take that' (hence why Cygnus and Sirius are the only ones mad enough to get into fights with Walburga). Also, he's a tiger mostly because I want Bella to take after her dad, the only big cats in their immediate family.

Alphard is a lone wolf, to keep up with many of the Blacks having canine counterparts. He's majestic, he's fierce, too, he loves a pack, but at some point he got into too many fights with the leaders of his pack and took off on his own, though at night sometimes he cries to the moon, missing them.

Arcturus is a hawk. Similar to his son, but a tad less fierce. Just a tad.

Sirius the old was a sphinx. He's a special badass, and the world sees him as this almost mythological creature. He has the body of a land apex predator, like many of his descendants (lion, like Bella), but he also has the wings of an eagle (like Orion). He's enigmatic, merciless, and has a gaze that will see straight into your soul. He knows everything that goes on, everywhere. A sphinx represents royalty and sacred status, which is how he views his family (and himself).

This was so much fun. I really like how they turned out, and I love that in this family of vertebrates, Narcissa is the only invertebrate (since she's always the outliner with her blonde hair). She's no less lethal, no less impressive, but she's a tad different from the rest.

So, Kashi. Who is he?

Kashi and his strange green lantern, which stands out in a set of overwhelming red and orange.

Huh. Wait.

Crystal's ancestors have a lantern too. The color varies by shot but in many it is distinctly... greenish, in a set of purples and golds.

Tragic Mick and his many lanterns of a very similar colour.

MUCH of the lighting in the Cat King's domain follows this color palette, even in adjacent lights that otherwise have no reason to be different.

I honestly wonder about Asha - she has this lantern going in her shop in broad daylight, in the same shot as what has to be the Evil Seagull™ rofl. Not the right color though.

The Aurora Borealis over wherever Niko is at the very end of the series.

Anyway, color and light is important in the show and we got a lot of Suspicious Lanterns: I think we're dealing with spirit guides in some way or form. Which might sound silly/obvious, and I'll have to do a deep dive into the timeline now that we Know that Niko is The Principal, but.

Mick gave Niko a polar bear figurine as a 'good luck charm'. His story of Sedna is based in Inuit traditions and mythologies, so I got to wondering what kind of polar bear related mythologies there might be, and came across Nanook.

This is based on very short research via DuckDuckGo search so take this with several grains of salt but

So. Crystal has her ancestors, Niko seems to have Mick before becoming a spirit guide of sorts herself after her death, so whose spirit guide is Kashi?

Isekai Yandere Strawhats Chapter 2

The days turned to weeks and weeks to months soon, that world was a thought of the past. Y/n had continued to her regular life going to school, hanging out with friends, and having her biggest worries being what time her assignments were due.

She didn’t throw away any of her old books or posters with those characters on them instead she put them in a box under her bed. Just so they were right beneath her feet if she ever wanted to return and fantasize about maybe a different time, maybe if things would’ve gone differently. 

The seasons were beginning to change March would soon become April. It had only dawned on the girl today that a year had passed since she first started that journey. Sitting by the window as the birds chirped in glee, Y/n finally had some time to dive into her memory.

A year ago Y/n had just met the straw hat pirates. She appeared in their life so suddenly, and little did she know they would become so easily enamored. She laughed to herself in disbelief then rubbed her hand through her bangs, “ How could I be so stupid?” she said to herself.

Opening her curtains for the rays of the sun to wash over her reminded her of tanning with the girls on the Sunny, in the beginning, it was just so sweet, wasn’t it?

With a sigh, she got up from her bed and waltzed over to grab her remote from the desk turning on the TV hoping to drown out the memory of a certain someone. The shows were white noise as the face of Trafalgar Law was all she could focus on. 

A call from her mother had made her jump and she quickly made her way out of her room. “ Yes, mother?” She said walking into the living room. Her mother smiled and handed her a letter. The envelope was black with no writing on it and the seal was yellow with a small bear on it.

Y/n bit her lip, not wanting to get too excited in front of her mother and for herself, who knows if this letter is from who she thinks it is?

She thanked her mother and quickly made her way back to her room shutting the door with her back. The pit of her stomach grew butterflies and nerves flared inside of her. She turned off her TV and sat on her bed using her thumb to unseal the envelope.

There were two letters inside marked with red and blue at the tips of the corner. Pulling the blue one out first she swiftly opened it and began reading.

Dear Y/n, I wonder what you’ve been doing all this time. I know you got back home safely, I can feel it in my bones. I debated on whether or not I should just go see you myself but I figured it was better to let you enjoy your time with your family for now.

I have been able to avoid clashing with BlackBeard thanks to you and I have been able to gather more research on this gateway between our worlds. I won’t go too in-depth in this letter but I can say that we have a lot to talk about once we meet again. After you left the strawhats also left me alone without a word or a fight. Within the next month, we will meet but it will take some effort on your part as well. Please read the next letter for additional information.

Y/n felt ecstatic, finally after months of wondering what happened to Law there was an answer, directly from him at that. She tossed the note beside her pulled out the red-tipped letter and began reading.

There were instructions and illustrations explaining how to open a gateway directly onto the polar tang where they could travel with ease. It was a method without shifting that wouldn’t be so strenuous on both parts.

At the end of the letter, there was a small warning, “ It will take time, over a month on your end to make sure that the gate is stabilized so as soon as you read this you should get started.”

With a smile on her face, she followed both letters back into the envelope and began to follow the instructions. The instructions were relatively easy but there was a reason she needed time.

Step one, keep the mirror on your door as clean as can be that will be the gate. Step two, ensure any other mirrors are not facing the gate including your television.

Step three, keep your curtains open as the sun will help charge up the portal. The other steps were simple as well, don’t keep anything plugged in at night, and keep a diet consisting of greens. 

Y/n had a new pep in her step and everyone around her noticed. Y/n had smiled more often and life at home seemed like a fantasy for her parents, they never had to ask her twice to complete chores or help out with anything around the house.

The first week of April swings by and exam season is brewing up, Y/n spent time studying with her friends in the library. " Y/n me and y/f/n are going to get drinks real quick."

The girl waved her friends off too focused on her current textbook. A minute passed before she was interrupted again by a text message. Her mother was telling her she needed to pick up something for dinner, she sighed and decided to take a break from studying and possibly find a book she could take home.

Out of interest Y/n took to the supernatural fantasy section. Wondering if she could find any books relating to portals and how they work.

At the top of the shelf there was a black hardcover with the words open your mind written in script on the spine. Reaching up she grabbed it, ‘ Open Your Mind written by N.R’. The book seemed to be brand new, the pages crisp and the cover silky smooth.

Returning to her seat Y/n began to read. Her friends soon returned and hours had passed as Y/n fell into the fantasy world of N.R. The book was about a women who had a found family and was able to discover the mysteries of her world. The chills ran down her spine when she realized how similar it had been to one piece.

Although there weren’t any pirates Y/n couldn’t shake the feeling of having heard a few similar stories within her favorite series. Bitting her lip she closed the book on the third chapter, not wanting to spoon herself while with her friends.

Y/n tucked a strand of her behind her ears and told her friends she would be off as it was getting late. Waiting for the bus questions popped into her head.

There is no way one of them could be here right?

Law made sure they didn’t have a way back right?

It’s been so long since she was filled with this much anxiety. The cool spring breeze wouldn’t cool her nerves and the palms of her hands filled with sweat.

The bus finally came and she stepped on seating herself in the single seats. Her head rested on the window and she silently watched the cars zoom by leaving colorful glares.

Day 4 - What if Minecraft had Walruses?

Living on Snowy Beaches and both Frozen Ocean biomes, Walruses are the natural rival to the Polar Bear. On land they are usually lounging around, either on their back or side, in pods that can range from 4 to 16 individuals. Their large, impressive tusks give them a high damage output, and they can chase after their enemies surprisingly quick, especially in water. Walruses function like Zombified Piglins, where if you attack one, the entire group turns to close in on you. Rest assured - don't hit the Walruses.

Walruses can be bred with Raw Salmon, and baby walruses are passive and do not have tusks. Walruses like to dive to the ocean floor, where their wiggly whiskers can sift through the gravel for food and detritus. Giving them a Sea Pickle (in real life, Walruses enjoy sea cucumbers) may cause them to cough up a treat for you - ranging from some raw cod to some rarer treasures like a Nautilus Shell! And if the Walrus way into or out of the water is blocked by a layer of ice, rest assured, it can use its tusks to pierce open an entryway!

“are you sad?” you sat right next to him, pouting. “hm?” law glanced at you, curious as to why you were asking something like that. “it looks like you’re always pouting when you see me on the deck. did something happen?”

“no, i’m okay,” he shrugged it off and went back to his book. “are you jealous?” you smirked, your tone showing amusement now. “what— no. why would i be?” he rolled his eyes.

“because bepo’s not afraid to hug me in public,” you suggested, trying to find a way to let him spit the truth out. “i hug you,” he corrected, not even glancing at you this time. you huffed and then looked down for a moment, trying to think of something else.

“he can do something i can’t, though,” his voice was low but you heard it clear as a day. “huh?” you raised your brows, confused. “what if you fall once again? he can jump in,” he added after a long moment of silence.

you realised what he meant and swiftly moved closer, searching for his gaze. “i don’t care about that, because you protect me in many other ways and that’s all that matters,” you took his hand, tracing his tattoos with your thumb slowly. as law finally met your eyes, you offered him a sweet smile. “i guess… you’re right,” he finally, but slowly, gave in. it wasn’t rational, feeling jealous of something like that.

“so… you were, in fact, jealous,” you then laughed at him, easing the tension between you two. law rolled his eyes, cheeks turning slightly pink now. “shut up,” he tried to sound offended but seeing you laughing changed his mood, as he secretly enjoyed watching you spread your happiness like that.
