what if we were two trans angels in love? soaring through the clouds high above any mortal worries and their petty judgements. if i could hold your hand while we fly and gently cup your face and and kiss you in the night sky and then land to lie upon a cloud where we'd watch the shooting stars together, in their brightest and purest form, and you'd rest your halo over my heart

Would you be up for writing an oneshot with abandoned baby Dokucha being found by the Cross Guild? Croco and Buggy would probably not care too much at the beginning but quickly warm up to them. Mihawk is the doting and responsible daddy. Croco would love to have the little one on his lap when “disciplining” people, especially Buggy, like “how should daddy Buggy be punished today for screwing up again?” before releasing the Bananawanis. Would totally give them a baby Bananawani, who greatly dislikes Buggy. Dokucha would copy Mihawks behaviour and way of being, Mihawk is sitting on the table having breakfast and reading the newspaper, so will they. Buggy is the one funny daddy and who gets them in trouble and doesn’t think much if it’s safe for Dokucha, like taking them to a heist or so. Imagine how darn cute this would be and the three taking care of them!! 😭🥰

Baby’s Judgement ( Crocodile x gn!child!reader! X Mihawk)
A/N Here we go!!! I always day that :/ always be saying im back but then I disappear for two weeks only to repeat🫣 Listen! Time just escaped me din’t even noticed it had been that long, plan was to do in the plane but I just kind a spent the hours staring into nothingness instead. Anyhow, not sure how to feel about this one so let me know what you think. But also do note that this Dokucha got raised by these mean since they were a baby so as such they share the same morally questionable morals the men have.
Reader here is replaced by Dokucha which stands for reader in japanese for the enjoyment of both reader and oc character readers

“Croki, where we goin’?” The small toddler wondered as they tried to keep up with the man’s long strides.
“I have something to show you,” he huffed out, pausing slightly so the child could catch up to him.
“in the arium?”
“Aquarium,” he scoffed out.
“Arium?”
He let out a sigh, picking them up a
“K,” he sounded, looking at the child.
“K!”
“Kwe”
“Kwe,” they parroted
“Aquarium” he finished.
“Arium!” They stated, seemingly proud of their ‘accomplishment.’
“You’re hopeless.”
“‘M’ not!”
“Perhaps I should just feed you to the bananawani,” Crocodile mused, a smirk growing on his face as he did
“No!” They cried, hugging his neck tight
“Yes, I’m sure they would enjoy eating a brat for dinner.”
“Wah!! You’re mean!”
“Kuahaha! That’s how the world works, kid,” he laughed, making his way into the underground layer he had built to keep the giant beasts and any unfortunate soul that he and his associate decided to ‘spare’ from a swift death.
“Relax, those bastards wouldn’t do anything to you even if I told them to; they like you,” he called out once his chuckles had died down as he made his way into the shallow area of the aquarium, eventually giving rise to a section littered with sand and illuminated by a skylight place above the area.
The place allowed the huge reptiles to laze around on dry land if they so wanted to, the sand warmed by the sun above a welcome feeling to the crocodiles.
For the following months, however, this place was far from just a place for them to have their daily dose of vitamin D. Instead, it became a highly coveted place, one that the workers were not able to bypass for their usual duties as the bananawani became incredibly devoted to the care of their very own treasure that they were zealous to, thus the small layer although normally occupied by a few of Crocodile’s most trusted subordinates now lay close to empty.
However, the beasts were willing to make a few exceptions to their no-trespassing rule. The first one was the man himself, not only because Crocodile was the one who offered the crocs all the care they needed but also because the man had a new addition to himself as of late.
“Babies!” Dokucha exclaimed happily, running towards said hatchlings with glee.
It turns out that due to Crocodile establishing his dominance over the reptiles from the beginning, they had not only considered the man an extension of themselves but a superior of sorts. As such, the bananawani never reacted aggressively to his presence, this and the fact that Dokucha now lingered next to him, after all, he was in the same position as them: taking care of a young one.
“Croki, look! They have babies!”
“I know, it’s their mating season,” he mumbled as he placed one of his usual cigars in his mouth, looking as the child prattled on to one of the hatchling’s parents about the babies that littered the area.
“Croki” they called, gaining the attention of the man from the lighter on his hand back to the child as they let out a grunt in response, his eyes not leaving the task of igniting the cigar.
“Look!”
Satisfied with the spark leaving the cigar and it’s signature cloud of smoke following, he moved his full attention to the toddler, watching as they hauled up a hatchling.
“They didn’t have a mommy or daddy.”
Crocodile let out a hum at their words.
“That one’s parents died a while ago, a sea beast if I remember right”
“Died?”
“Yes.”
“Who will take care of it?” they frowned, hugging them close, letting out tiny giggles as the Crocodile began giving them small nips.
“Just take it with you; I don’t really care,” he dismissed as he turned around, heading to the large table that decorated the center of the room.
Dokucha grinned looking down at the reptile in his hands with a grin.
“I take care of Baby!” they yelled, spinning the wani around with joy, skidding to a stop at the sound of muffled cries.
“Oi, Brat, come here” he called.
“I’m comin!” they cheered, running towards him with the Bananawani held snuggly in their arms as they climbed into the ex-warlords lap.
“You see that man?” he questioned as he gestured to one of the nearby cells.
“Man?” they mimicked, looking up towards the cell, spotting the source of the cries they had heard coming from a man in one of the otherwise empty cells, his cries muffled by a cloth tied around his head.
“Yes, see, the guy thought it would be a good idea to try and sell us out to the Marines,” he mumbled, a dark smirk growing on his face as he whispered the words to the child, ensuring that his voice remained loud enough for the terrified man to hear.
“What should I do with him?”
“Do with him?”
“Yes, should I feed him to the bananaWanis?” he suggested, his smirk widening at the rise in cries coming from the cells at the suggestion.
“No!” they protested with a pout looking up at Crocodile, much to the relief of the defected pirate.
“That would give the Wani’s a tummy ache!”
“Is that so? What should I do then?”
Dokucha shrugged, playing with the baby bananawani on their lap with a smile.
“Sand?”
The man’s relief previous relief at the thought of being spared dissipated into terror at the pirate’s following words
“Ah, that’s right. You said you wanted more sand for your sandbox, right?’”
“Mmhm”
“Well then, looks like your fates decided,” Crocodile cackled as he activated his devil-fruit
Tumblr media
“Kai!”
“There you are; I was looking for you, “Mihawk called, watching them run into the room he sat on, gingerly placing the wine on a nearby table to accept the child jumping towards him.
“What were you doing?” he questioned, positioning them in this lap so he could balance both them and his glass of wine.
“Croki was turning a mean man into sand!” they piped up, raising what looked to be a small sippy cup in excitement.
“Ah. so he finally got rid of that pest,” he stated
“Yeah, and look!” they yelled, pulling out a small satchel from their side and grinning as the bananwani promptly jumped out as soon as they opened the satchel, letting out small chirps as they climbed into their lap.
“I have a baby!”
“Please do tell me why that is a good idea,” Mihawk called, looking over the child’s shoulders.
“I see no harm in them taking care of it; he can watch out for the brat, they can be nasty things even as hatchlings” Crocodile’s voice rings out as he enters the room, taking his place next to MIhawk.
“Besides, they seem to hate the clown as well, and he has been getting too comfortable around the brat lately,” he grunted.
The swordsman lets out a thoughtful hum at the word, seemingly mulling over the idea the devil user had given.
“I doubt a hatchling will be enough to stop that fool from trying to take them away; some lessons just need to be taught personally,” he called, taking a sip from his drink. He raised an eyebrow as the child next to them seemed to imitate his hand’s placement with their own cup.
He gave a small roll of his eyes as he put the wine down as he stood up, picking up the child who was quick to drop his cup in favor of grabbing the bananawani as they were lifted.
“Regardless, it is time for the child to go to bed, so I bid you farewell, for now; I trust I can leave the clown to you?” Mihawk called, looking at Crocodile
“I will,” he easily answered as he let a wisp of smoke escape him.
“If you want to join, you should hurry; I’m not sure he will be conscious if you take too long.”
“Very well,” he called as he walked away.
“But Kai! I’m not tired!” They whined, trying to get out of the man’s grasp
“Enough,” He sternly admonished
Tumblr media
I don’t even know how to label the fic as cause it can’t be cross guild cause buggy is only mentioned but im not sure it really is equally crocodile and Mihawk, I think it’s more Crocodile centered 🤷🏽‍♀️ Also in case theres any confusion the Kai nickname comes from hawkeye, a two year old would hardly pronounce that so its the last vowels that sound the HawKEYE = Kai :D aint that cute?

A drop of ink, a blot spread across time
(Vintage au)
Plot summary: It was 1950s when pen pals were popular and almost everyone had one! You used to have a handful of them but the camaraderie between you and them faded as you got older. One day, you found a newspaper on your late great-grandpa's shelves in his bedroom. Excitedly, you flipped the papers to get to a specific page and bingo! There was a section for the addresses of people who are looking for a pen-friend much like yourself. After randomly choosing, you sent out your first letter and he replied back! However, you noticed something weird in the photo he sent...
Crds to @drinkthesky for the divider!

Men I deem fit: Alhaitham, Albedo, Imbibitor Lunae/Dan Heng, Dr Ratio, Diluc, Zhongli, Venti, Neuvillette, Scaramouche, Sunday.
(Fck alphabetical order, I can't do that sh*t)
Tumblr media
The amber glow of the afternoon sun bathed the room as the open windows situated at the opposite of the door allowed sunlight streams to enter the room as its panes quivered in hushed symphony due to the beckoning of the hot air. If you moved closer to the windows, you could see dust particles illuminated by the natural light. Even after the passing of your great-grandfather, the bookish scent of his cologne still lingers in his bedroom along with his possessions which were either coated with a thin layer of dust or covered with a big white cloth.
The wooden floor creaked beneath you as you walked towards his bookshelves in hopes of finding pieces of classical literature and maybe learn a thing or two from it. You delicately traced your index finger through the long vertical rows of books, leaving a trail of dust on the pads of your digit. As you peruse through countless novels only to be unsatisfied until you saw a newspaper at the edge of the shelf, untouched by the dust that plagues the rest.
'How strange...' you thought to yourself as you rubbed your thumb and index finger against the surface of the paper to determine its texture: it was sandy and rough, definitely ancient but the format was similar to the ones your dad reads in the morning so it must be a freshly produced newspaper, albeit printed in a different quality of paper.
Or so you thought...
The newspapers in your hands gave you a glimmer of hope; it was an opportunity to find a pen friend! You used to have a few ones but stopped writing to them either because they used too much colloquial words or they had at least twenty spelling mistakes in each sentence which gave you a migraine whilst trying to make out if your correspondent was writing in a foreign language or not. But this time, maybe you could hit the jackpot and find an actually nice pen-pal. Excitedly, you flipped through the papers and stopped at the specific page which had a list of names along with their addresses under the bold heading:
'Pen-friends! Make new friends around the world!'
Your eyes scanned across the list of names, allowing your intuition to guess the personality of that stranger based on their names alone. But then, a specific name caught your eye- it was uncommon which was the main reason it stood out from the rest of the names which probably were taken from 'Top 10 best names for children of this year'. You took a closer look of the address below that person's name and turned out, both of you lived in the same area! A surge of enthusiasm rippled throughout your body and immediately tucked the newspaper into the inside pocket of your coat.
~~~~~♡~~~~~♡~~~~~♡~~~~~
The curtains of your living room slowly opened as you peeked your head out and pressed your face against the glass. A day had passed after you had sent your very first letter and heck, you even went a mile far by sending a photograph of your two cats to make a memorable first impression. Then- just like you had anticipated- the postman on his bike suddenly came into view and halted his vehicle by your mail-box and placed a letter inside. You clutched the folds of the curtains unable to contain the happiness blossoming inside you. As soon as the postman disappeared out of your eyesight, you rushed outside to take the letter out of the mailbox. The first thing that greeted your eyes was the immaculate handwriting and the scent emitted from the paper.
'How sweet of him...' you thought as you continued reading the letter in your mind. The paragraphs were neatly organized and made of outdated vocabulary that you wouldn't understand had you not taken an interest in classic literature. You could tell this man practiced utmost eloquence just by his letter alone. Overall, he wrote a few things about himself and asked you about your hobbies, what you like and blablabla.
But then, something struck within you concerning with the photograph he sent and notes written behind it:
"The construction of the mall is making my ears bleed. I cannot stand the constant sounds of the drills and other sounds coming from it. I daresay, you must be experiencing the same disturbance as we are only one street apart from each other. Perhaps we should plan to meet up after the mall opens. What do you think of it?"
The more you stared at the photograph and the note, the more confused you became. The picture showed the mall with the same as the one down the street but it was still in construction according to the photo. 'Huh?' A frown stretched across your face. That specific mall had been going on more nearly a century now to the point that the community had been urging the government to shut it down in order to build a more innovative one. Didn't it finish construction like a hundred years ago? But his photo told a whole new different story.
Suspicions rose inside of you as a spiral of questions revolved around your head- you found it difficult to process it. Not missing a beat, you hurried to your room to find that newspaper you took from your late great-grandfather's shelf. You mumbled in frustration when you couldn't find it; you swore you left it either on the desk or on the bed. Finally, you found it under the bed and oh my...
The letter was published a century back in time which meant that...
"T-The man I just sent a letter...was from the past...." The newspaper dropped from your hands. Your letter had ripped its way out of the fabric of time and went into the mailbox of a man who lived in the same area as you but different time period. He was in the past, you were in the future.
Still, a part of you felt curious about the interaction between two people of different dimensions. So you decided to reply back to his letter. What could go wrong...right?
Zoro x Sanji
✦ Summary: Sanji finds Zoro on Sabaody. Zoro realizes that something about the cook has changed, but he can't put his finger on it. His determination to find out exactly what it is pushes them to share a few moments that neither of them would have anticipated two years ago. But a lot has changed since the last time they were here, hasn't it?
✦ Word Count: 3.7k
✦ Warnings: light spoilers for the time skip and fishman island, light angst, references to past fights (Thriller Bark, Sabaody)
✦ Notes: I saw this beautiful art of Sanji with heterochromia and I wanted to write the moment that Zoro realizes this about him. I'm not up to date yet (just finished dressrosa) but if you like it pls let me know and I'll think about writing a part two once I've got all the lore from Sanji's backstory!
this is my first piece of writing for one piece - critiques welcome but pls be nice:)
Zoro caught a glimpse of something golden, glittering in the sun above the surface. The pirate ship he had so unceremoniously slashed in half parted the water around them and released a flurry of bubbles as it pushed its way up. The two halves of the ship emerged, sending furious waves and a shower of salty droplets in every direction.
The source of that opulent shimmer stood on the cliff side, staring down at him with an insufferable smirk. The crew of the ruined ship were trying to give Zoro an earful but he ignored them. He was busy studying his crewmate, cataloging every change, utterly overwhelmed by the sheer relief of seeing one of his family again.
The cook had gotten taller, bulkier - rigorous training evident in the fit of his clothes. He had the same nonsensical, curling eyebrows and signature cloud of cigarette smoke circling his head like a misshapen halo. The sun gilded his shaggy blonde hair and illuminated his one visible eye. It was Sanji, unmistakably.
However, amidst the familiarity, there was some change that Zoro couldn't put his finger on. Something striking, and yet he couldn't name it. He wondered, briefly, if his scar had struck the cook in the same way. But Sanji didn't mention it. Flicking his gaze over the cook's form, he checked for new scars and found none.
There was no time to dwell on it. A barrage of classic insults and scolding greeted him from the blonde’s mouth and he found himself falling into old patterns like they had never been separated. Whatever the change was, though, it lodged itself in the back of his mind and insisted on resurfacing periodically even as the pair found themselves running toward an explosion that almost certainly meant Luffy was close.
Now that they were reunited, he had all the time in the world to spend with his crew, because he was never going to let them be separated like that again. The problem was the desperation crawling under his skin. The need to know every change that occurred, even though each one would settle heavy in his belly like a stone. Weighing him down with the knowledge that the time they had spent apart was simply gone.
✦ .  ⁺   . ✦ .  ⁺   . ✦
It was still bothering him, hours later. After the crew had reunited, escaped attacks from seemingly all sides, and begun their descent into the sea.
Beneath the ocean, the world was surreal and beautiful. It was like they were being rewarded for all their hard work, all that time apart. They had hours to bask in the scenery and simply be together. So many days out of the last seven-hundred-something were spent wondering what the crew was up to, and now those empty spaces could be filled in.
Sitting on the grass of the Sunny, Zoro watched the filtered sunlight shift and change with the moving water as they continued to sink deeper into the ocean. Shadows of fish and seaweed danced in a rhythm with the wavering light, the resin coating casting its iridescent glow across every inch of the ship. He was filled with nothing but quiet contentment, as the thing that had been driving him for the last two years had finally been satisfied. He was with his family again.
That should be the only thought in his mind, and yet every time he looked in Sanji's direction, he was reminded of that thing he could not figure out. He didn't particularly want to give Sanji any extra attention at the moment. He lay pathetically sprawled on his back with blood pouring out of his face from his stupid perverted tendencies. But then the blonde opened his eyes, gaze following Chopper’s pointed hoof to a school of fish as it crossed above their bubble. A beam of light kissed his features, catching his uncovered eye and illuminating the iris like a gemstone.
Zoro's breath caught in his throat, his lungs filling with something angry and burning. So, he did the only thing he knew to do when he was feeling bothered - he picked a fight.
Some senseless, muttered remark thrown the cook's way escalated seamlessly into a shouting match and from there into sparring. Zoro was immediately scolded by the little doctor for going after Sanji in his injured state. But that only spurred Sanji's ego, and Chopper left them to it with a sigh.
From the start, it was obvious that Sanji was not at his usual strength due to the blood loss. He was not weaker by much, just enough for Zoro to get what he wanted. Later, they'd fight for real and find out just what kind of training had occurred during their time apart. But right now, Zoro had a single goal.
However, the cook had started to suspect that something was up from the oddly determined look in the swordsman's steely eyes. He fought to keep distance between them as Zoro's advances invaded his space and pushed him further and further back.
Zoro regrouped and attacked with more fervor, leaving no room for retaliation. He kept his focus on Sanji's face, determined to catch another glimpse of crystalline eyes. Sanji only grew more defensive under the extra attention, desperate to get out from under the swordsman's stare.
"Just let me see," Zoro grumbled, growing sweaty and frustrated as the cook evaded him again. He had not intended to say the words out loud.
"See what? " Sanji demanded.
He faltered for a split second and his fate was sealed. Zoro gained the upper hand and Sanji went flying backwards, landing at the edge of the grass with a dull thump. Zoro wasted no time, throwing himself down to sit on his legs and hooking his own knees and ankles under and around to keep the cook from escaping. Both wrists were caught and held tightly in Zoro's grasp, and he let out a triumphant huff as Sanji cursed.
"Why are you being so weird?" Sanji barked, wriggling in Zoro's grasp.
His legs may be strong, but Zoro had placed his full weight on them and he had certainly gained more muscle in the last two years. Sanji noted this with irritation, resolving to find out exactly how much Zoro weighed these days so he could make that his new training goal.
Zoro didn't answer the question. The intensity in his gaze did not waver as he leaned forward and pushed Sanji's bangs to the side with his free hand. It was a little rougher than he meant, though he upheld the belief that his hands were not made to be gentle.
"What the fuck?" Zoro scowled, eyebrows drawn tightly together.
The answer to his own burning question lay beneath him, flushed and swearing under his breath as Zoro studied his features. It was strange and almost startling to see his whole face at once. Framed by those ridiculous curling brows, one eye glittered a beautiful green-blue, a perfect match to the ocean surrounding them. One was brown, lit up in tones of molten honey by the meager sunlight. The swordsman's eye widened, his grip on Sanji's loosening.
He was more surprised that he was right than anything - he had been certain he'd never seen that shade of amber before. When he closed his eyes and pictured Sanji, it was always with that teal-blue.
Not that he was picturing Sanji with his eyes closed, ever.
" What? " Sanji spat. He used Zoro's momentary shock to wriggle out from under his grasp and scramble out of reach, hair falling back into place. He panted, catching his breath as he matched Zoro's scowl and waited for an explanation.
"Why are they different?" Zoro's frown did not ease.
"They've always been different," Sanji rolled his visible eye, voice dripping with disdain and something that sounded a little like surprise. "You seriously never noticed?"
"How was I supposed to? You always have your hair in the way!” Zoro retorted, standing to his feet and crossing his arms over his chest. He refused to accept the embarrassment that was attempting to sink its way under his skin. There was no way Sanji had two different colored eyes and he had never noticed.
Then again. When he thought back to any time before Thriller Bark, there was a film over his memories. As if, before he'd thrust his hands into that bubble, he'd only ever been half awake. Indeed, there was something about Sanji now, whether it be the surreal lighting of the deep sea, or the new information, that made him seem so much more vivid than before.
"Figures, idiot marimo," Sanji sat back against the deck railing, procuring cigarettes and a lighter from his pocket. Zoro's eyes followed his movements, a little dazzled by his vibrancy. "The only things you notice are booze and swords."
Zoro scoffed, but didn't try to refute it. It was true. At least, before . Not now, though. He had spent the last two years painfully conscious and he would not be going back to sleep now.
"Why'd you switch your hair like that anyways?" Zoro heard himself ask.
He leaned his hip against the railing, staring down at the cook through a haze of smoke. It was quiet for a minute, that honey eye focused on something far away. Zoro had started to wonder if he'd really spoken his question out loud when he heard a quiet, resigned sigh.
"Never liked my brown eye," Sanji shrugged one shoulder, a delicate pink creeping over his cheeks and ears as he continued, "But while I was gone, someone told me they liked it. I just thought I would try something new. It's not a big deal."
The averted gaze and slight waver in his voice gave the cook away. Zoro would have known anyway, without those clues. It was a big deal. When had he ever seen Sanji change his routine? His mannerisms, turns of phrase? Even his suit was the same style that he had always worn. It may have even been one of the same ones from two years ago.
There was something there to be pieced together, taking shape in between all of the things that hadn't been said. Sanji was saying the same thing Zoro had been thinking for two years. This small change had been made like a vow. That nothing would ever be the same.
Zoro opened his mouth, words hanging off the tip of his tongue. A compliment. A thank you. Something to acknowledge the weight of this exchange. An offering of his own vulnerability - anything he could give to even things out. Sanji did not give him the chance. Whether he had someone read his expression or not, Zoro didn’t know. But he cut him off, the words coming out in a rush.
“You owe me for this.”
“For what?!” Zoro sputtered, indignant, certain that he had not done anything wrong.
“For getting in my personal space,” He said, matter of fact, “And being a freak.”
He stood with a huff before the swordsman could respond, shoving his hands into his pockets and angling his body away. He threw over his shoulder in a tone of pure ice,
"If you tell anyone else or try to tease me for this, I'll break your fucking swords over my knee.”
With that, the blonde returned to the others, clothes smoothed and posture straightened like nothing of importance had just passed between them. Nobody questioned him, chalking up the fight to their typical bickering. It was so convincing that Zoro started to second guess himself. Maybe Sanji really didn't care.
But either way, Zoro himself was stunned, scrambling to figure out how to move forward while balancing the delicate thing that Sanji had placed in his hands. The cook may have tried to veil its importance but his hollow threat betrayed him. If there was no trust between them, there would have been no confession at all.
That small secret had already burrowed itself deep into Zoro's chest, close to Kuina's dream.
Kuina's dream, in contrast, was heavy like a boulder. A boulder that had been thrust upon his shoulders and that he carried with him each day, pursuing with ferocity and equal measures of blood and sweat and tears.
This was something else. Smaller, softer. Something that wouldn't be heavy so carry. Like a pearl, made of glass and fished from the mysterious depths of the ocean.
✦ .  ⁺   . ✦ .  ⁺   . ✦
Zoro closed his good eye and leaned forward to rest his elbows on his knees. Behind him, the bacchanal carried on. He breathed deep, grateful for the respite offered by this alcove. The tall windows of the palace painted the balcony with patches of warm light, glittering against the empty glass bottles strewn over the stairs.
The crew, in various combinations of duos and trios, made their way out here throughout the night for a breath of fresh air. Nami and Usopp had gone back to the party a while ago, but Zoro had remained on his own, appreciative of the cool quiet. If he listened, he could pick out their drunken laughter from among the other raucous partygoers. And with his eye closed, he could find the shape of their auras, shining brighter than all the others.
He smiled as those glowing auras danced, safe and carefree. There was a lot to think about, a lot waiting for them back on the surface. But they had done good work for fishman island. And most importantly, they were all here . Together again and celebrating after a job well done. Just like before, like no time had passed at all. Or at least, it was easier to pretend that nothing had changed.
Approaching footsteps interrupted his focus, his spine tensed out of instinct. Then he registered the familiar click of the cook’s dress shoes, and his shoulders dropped. He did not need haki to recognize that sound. But he kept his eye closed anyways, watching the marbled shape draw closer. It had such vivid colors, like shades of amber and honey against a cloudless sky.
His eyelid fluttered open, and there was Sanji, standing above him. Glassy-eyed, rosy-cheeked, with his hands in his pockets and a lit cigarette dangling precariously from his crooked smile.
"I know what I want," Sanji announced by way of greeting, pointing a finger too close to Zoro's face. He was tipsy, enough for every sentence to string together into a lilting accent, a few words that Zoro didn't know sometimes making their way in.
"What?" Zoro asked, gaze falling to Sanji's mouth to watch how he formed the words. The swordsman wasn't exactly sober, either.
"For my IOU, mosshead. I know what I want," Sanji said, oblivious to Zoro's inner monologue. He smelled like wine, his lips tinted a plummy color.
"And?"
Zoro was not exactly sure what he was expecting, but it was not for Sanji to plop down next to him and lean in close. One pale hand reached for his face, clumsily clinking his golden earrings together before landing a little roughly against a sharp, bronze cheekbone. Curling eyebrows drew together as a thumb swept over the deep scar interrupting Zoro's skin. From his forehead, carving a jagged line through his eyebrow, over the delicate skin of his eyelid, and halfway down to his jaw.
"I want to know what happened to your eye. Because you won’t tell anybody," Sanji informed him. Then he snorted to himself and giggled, "An eye for an eye."
Zoro's heartbeat quickened. Of course it would, if someone who only reached for him in order to start a fight suddenly invaded his personal space. His body was reacting to a threat. And that accent was driving him crazy. He didn't know where it was from. It made him want to pry the cook open and hunt for every secret that he kept hidden between his ribs.
Sanji fed the crew every day. He kept them all alive. He was their lifeline, and yet Zoro barely knew anything about him. Did the others know any more than him? It was a thought that had been rattling around in his mind since he had learned of the cook's heterochromia. (A word that Robin had taught him, and that he had horribly misunderstood at first.)
"Well?" Sanji's voice startled Zoro from his contemplation.
Nothing happened.
It was his first instinct, but the words stopped halfway up his throat. He couldn't do that to the cook again, watch his face contort like Zoro had pierced his chest with an arrow. He cleared his throat and conjured up a different answer. One that would move him out from under the intensity of Sanji's gaze, but buy him a little time to gather himself before he had to pry open that part of his memory. With care, he wrapped his fingers around the cook's wrist and lifted that curious hand away.
"I'll tell you someday," Zoro said quietly, his voice gravelly with some emotion he didn't know the name of. "When I'm ready."
Sanji stared at him for a moment, seemingly considering. Then he shrugged and took another drag of his cigarette.
"That's fair," He said, smoke pouring out between his teeth as his eyes flicked over the swordsman's face, openly studying the scar. "But I'm going to hold you to it. Don't think I won't remember just because I'm a tiiiiiny bit tipsy."
Zoro snorted at that, earning him a half-hearted kick that smarted more than he'd ever admit. Sanji had gotten much, much stronger. He didn't bother hitting back.
"You don't usually drink so much," He said instead, shifting his focus to something far away, starting to grow uncomfortable under Sanji's relentless stare. He failed to see the parallel between this moment and his own scrutinizing glare pinning the blonde to the lawn of the Sunny.
"Happy," Sanji said in response, his cheeks rosy as he offered a lopsided grin. Placing his cigarette between his lips, he breathed deep and let his head fall back. Three defined rings of smoke rose from his pursed lips, floating for a second before dissipating into the night air.
"Show off," Zoro muttered, averting his gaze as he tried and failed to keep his own lips from turning upwards, affected by the cook's contagious mood.
"Only for you," Sanji laughed, the sound closer to a bubbling giggle. He looked at Zoro again, and all of that mirth slipped away into a seriousness. Like he couldn't stop thinking about Zoro's scar for long. "Is your eye still...."
He trailed off, wincing like he could feel the injury himself.
"Open it," Zoro said.
Sanji grimaced, but he took the offer. His touch was impossibly gentle, the skin of his hands smooth and warm, contrasting with the cool metal of his rings. He rested his hand on Zoro's cheek with much more care than the first time, fingertips brushing his hairline as he gingerly pushed up the scarred eyelid with his thumb.
That softness filled Zoro's chest with a wave of something strong and urgent. He was watching the cook’s face as he carried out his investigation, and damn those eyes really were something. He was less careful in his wine-induced stupor, letting his bangs show more of his face than usual. And the swordsman was reminded that his eyes were like nothing he’d seen before. It was not just their striking contrast, but the unreal saturation of each hue. Like gemstones, he’d thought before. Like aquamarine and tiger’s eye.
His thoughts about gemstones were cut short as he watched Sanji frown at what he saw, drawing his touch away as softly as he'd placed it. Sanji had always been Zoro's antithesis. If Zoro's hands were made to be rough, stained with blood and cruelty, then Sanji's must be meant to be just like this . Zoro silently vowed to keep them that way.
"It's-"
"Glass," Zoro finished for him, "They said it'd help the tissue heal better. Doesn't seem like my eyelid wants to work any more, though. I don't really care either way."
"Does it make it harder? To fight?"
"No," Zoro said, a little too quickly, "It won't."
He paused, and then swallowed hard, waiting to see if Sanji would acknowledge what he had just confessed. Praying that Sanji might understand what Zoro had given him. The same thing the cook had gifted him, only a few days ago.
He dared one last glance into that honey brown eye, and was met with a solemnity that rattled him. It was gone in a flash as Sanji looked away, taking a deep breath and leaning back on his elbows, head tilting once more toward the sky.
Zoro followed suit, laying flat on his back. The marble offered a welcome coolness against his heated skin. His heart was racing so wildly he worried Sanji could somehow feel it through the stone.
Something was beginning to grow in the warm biome of his chest, growing roots around his heart. A beginning, so tangible and overwhelming he could only brace himself and let it wash over him.
He remembered the last time he felt like this. The sound of his swords clattering to the ground as he swallowed Luffy's dream and exhaled his own. When he traded his life to Kuma in exchange for his captain's freedom. He had realized in that moment that Luffy had started something bigger than any of them. Bigger than any of them could even comprehend. The scale of Luffy's influence on the world had crashed into him as harshly as the pain had. And he had known that this was only the start of everything to come - the good and the bad.
He felt it again, now, as his pulse raced under his skin, Sanji's warmth bleeding into his side where they weren't even touching. Something was beginning, here. Something that made him feel wide awake, twice as alive. His hands twitched with the desire to protect it, whatever it was. To hold it tight within his grasp.
He thought back to the moment he had seen Sanji's other eye for the first time. And as the cook closed the gap between them and leaned his knee against Zoro's, the same words he had thought then became etched into his being.
Nothing would ever be the same.
Lore
Despite her gloomy exterior, this toon is actually extremely kind-hearted. Although she's often taking the brunt of Shrimpo's bullying and has low self esteem and is extremely shy as a result, often being too scared to ask for help. Although her best friend Glisten isn't that far to save the day.
She's a big fan of Vee's show, but due to being a raincloud, she's scared of going anywhere near due to water not being allowed around Vee. The only other toon who knows about her admiration for Vee is Glisten, and it will hopefully stay that way unless he accidentally blurts it outta someone.
She keeps to herself most of the time, only speaking her mind if she feels completely safe to do so or if asked to. She tends to stay in the corner of the elevator, away from the other toons.
Tumblr media
Twisted form
Much like her best friend, this twisted keeps her arms bound together and hasn't fully been overcome by ichor. However, it seems her fear of infecting others causes her to constantly tell toons to stay far away from her as possible. It would be highly advised to listen to her advice, lest you doom her to a fate worse than death
Appearance:
Trivia
Whether or not her cloud starts raining or not depends on her emotions. And since she has low self esteem she… Tends to rain often..
You can usually find her either helping out in the kitchen or sitting under the big tree in the lobby
Her hobbies include baking and sitting outside in the rain
🍂 Reminder for older self shippers (and anyone who relates, really) !! Your f/o will never shame you for liking and/or wanting to buy things that are deemed "childish."
You want games? Your f/o will play with you or watch you play!
You want plushies? Your f/o will love them all as much as you do, and they'll be overjoyed to learn all their names if they have any!
You want toys? Your f/o will go to the store with you and help you pick the best ones!
Anything else that people may associate with kids? Your f/o won't unless you ask them to!
They won't ever think you're childish or stupid for wanting these things; they won't view it as "wasting money" or an irresponsible purchase, and they won't make you feel guilty for it.
Your darling loves seeing you happy, and anything that helps with that is worth it for them !!
BONUS EXCERPT:
THE EXISTENTIAL OF MAGIC TROLLS
(but what else is new? Lmao)
Tumblr media
Redacted: [depressedly laying on the cold, hard floor in a mess of ruin and rubble. Arm over his face, eyes closed, and struggling not to sleep]
Magic: [warps into the room!]
Redacted: [just sighs heavily, wincing slightly]
Magic: [kicking a rock, cheerfully) "so! Come here often?" >;D
Redacted:
Redacted: (emotionlessly) "what do you want, Magic?"
Magic: (peppily) "it's {Magic}! I already told you, you can call me by name!" ;3
Magic: [and, as she spoke, removed his mask, prancing about the room around the rubble]
Redacted:
Redacted: [slowly lets out a breath, then, tiredly) "sure, {Magic}. What do you want."
Magic: [hops to Redacted's side, finally stopping to lean over him with a grin]
Magic: (playfully) "aren't you going to look at me?" ;D
Redacted:
Redacted: [sighing once again, removes his arm from his eyes to blearily look up at Magic]
Redacted: [struggling to have his eyes adjust to the very low amount of light, but extra struggling considering it's Magic he's looking at]
Redacted: (tiredly and defeatedly) "I'm sure I don't have to tell you it's hard to look at you."
Magic: [grinned brightly at first, but face twists for a moment—]
Magic: [sighs slightly, but smiles amusedly as they draw back. Finally, bends her knees and leans down to extend a hand out to Redacted]
Magic: [at the same time even as he smiles, mournfully) "I had hoped, since you're {chaos-aligned}, you'd be able to see me better."
Redacted: [taking a deep breath, takes Magic's hand and—]
Magic: [makes sure her form is solid enough to keep his grip smiles as she helps him stand]
Redacted: (tiredly) "I don't know. Why would you think that?"
Magic: [once he's up, dusts the soot off his hands and onto his pants. Peppily) "well! Because Magic's—I'm—very Chaotic myself! So I thought we might have a good bit in common!" 😉
Redacted: [slouches, hands in his pockets, as he watches Magic exhaustedly]
Magic: [collects his long mane of hair into a bunch, keeping it out of their face as they grin at Redacted]
Magic: (amusedly) "and I was right! We do!"
Magic: [brings a finger to the side of their lips as they look away 'thoughtfully']
Magic: [sighing slightly; eyes dart to his with a smirk as they finish dramatically) "well! Except for all that depression!"
Subject on an Empty Stomach
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Prompt: Painting
TW/CW: Sushang thinks she might be haunted but that’s not the case, barely proofread and I appreciate spellchecks!
Word Count: 388
A/N: Another one down! Man, this is fun. So far I’ve been writing for characters I definitely enjoy (there’s only one obtainable character I full on dislike) but haven’t thought much of outside of “cute!” or “they seem fun!” It’s made for a fun exercise delving into these characters on the fringes of my interest. Also yeah this one is significantly longer than the last one because for some reason I got hit really hard with inspiration and I made the executive decision to ride it out until the scene felt done!
Likes and Reblogs appreciated and Requests are Open! Read this story on Ao3 here!
All the great sword masters knew how to use a brush. Whether it be for calligraphy, painting, or poetry, it seemed like every single one, be them real or immersia, knew their way around the delicate fibers of a paintbrush. So it seemed only natural that Sushang should pick it up as well.
She’d found a nice, quiet spot in Aurum Alley to set up some subjects—some still-steaming beef stew from Delicacy Pavilion and a bottle of steamed puffergoat milk from Tall Auntie’s stall—and had spent the better part of the last hour trying to capture their flavorful essences onto her scroll.
Sushang had been very proud of her work, until she noticed something strange. See, her painting had depicted the bowl of stew full almost to the brim, but now that she was looking at it on the stool it was only half full, if that. There was even a series of red rings around the inside to show how much broth used to be in there.
She set her brush down and dared to move over for a closer look, and sure enough, the stew had definitely been drank down halfway. But there hadn’t been anyone nearby for the whole time Sushang had been painting. A chill ran up her spine as she quickly turned to scan her surroundings.
“Hello?” She tried to swallow the trembling in her voice. “Is anyone there?”
The sound of crunching leaves made her look to her right. The snap of a twig forced her to look left. She could feel her heart in her throat when suddenly, the rattling of porcelain echoed behind her. With a shriek and a jump that sent her back at least six feet, Sushang reached for the closest weapon she could think of.
“No! Back, Heliobus! This is my art!” She cried, brandishing her paintbrush menacingly with her eyes shut.
“Heliobus? Where?!” Called a small, slightly muffled voice in return.
Sushang opened her eyes, more than a little confused at the idea of a Heiobus being afraid of itself, only to be met with the image of the Vidyadharan elder, Lady Bailu, clutching the half-empty bowl of stew to her chest as she looked around frantically for any danger, half eaten noodles hanging from between her teeth.
Seems Lady Bailu was sneakier than Sushang thought…
"I thought I told you to wait in the village," Zoro grumbled, looking down at the girl who sat at his feet, holding onto an umbrella as she shook her head at the question.
"Why are you so damn stubborn?!" he growled, letting out a choked scoff as she simply pointed at him in response
"What the hell do you mean because of me, hah?!"
The girl made no move to respond to the swordsman tied on the cross, choosing instead to put her attention on the young man who made his way to the execution site.
"It's you again; I told you I'm not going to be a pirate."
"I'm Luffy! If I loosen up the ropes, you'll join me, okay?!"
"No!" he snapped
"I'm not going to be a bad guy like a pirate."
"Why do you care anyway? Everyone already thinks you're a bad guy," Luffy pipes back with a frown.
"Listen here, the only one I care to hear anything about is that one," he said, gesturing to the girl who, by now, had opted to close her umbrella and hide behind the cross Zoro had been tied to and the shade this one provided
Luffy adverted his eyes to the girl as if finally taking notice of her presence.
"Why are you wearing that?" He questioned, pointing to the bamboo stick held between Dokucha's lips
"Mind your business!" Zoro huffed out
"I don't care what anyone else says about me. I haven't done one thing that I regretted in the past, and it will be the same in the future, so I won't become a pirate."
"I don't care; you are going to join me!" Luffy petunly replied
"Oi! Don't decide for yourself!!"
"Hey, I heard you used a katana. Is that right?" he asked, ignoring the swordsman's outburst.
"If I wasen't tied up, I could use a katana."
"Where is the katana?"
"That bastard took it; it's what I treasure the most, other than our lives!!
"Okay! I will go where the bastard kid is and get your Katana back! But if you want me to return it to you, you'll have to join me, Shihsii," Luffy proudly proclaimed, letting out a loud laugh as he finished his words.
"That's Dirty!"
Luffy paid no mind to the hunter's words as he turned around and left with a wave and a promise to come back with the sword.
"...Is he going to sneak into the base to get them back? What an idiot!" he muttered, his attention snapping next to him at the sound of movement. Taking notice of Dokucha and how her attention did not deviate from the pirate leaving the site, he was quick to understand her intentions.
"Dokucha, Don't," he warned, watching as she tentatively stepped away from him and eventually made a run for it, easily making her way over the wall and turning back to the man with a mischievous look on her face and a peace sign on her hands as she jumped down the wall to follow Luffy, letting her descend be slowed by the umbrella as she let out muffled laughs at the scream that rang out as she did
"Yo- Wait until I get my hands on you!"
Tumblr media
"That's strange; there aren't any marines around here; you think they are having a meeting?" Luffy asked, looking down at the girl, huffing as she offered a shrug
"Nevermind the katana! I can't even find that bastard like this," he cried, frowning as Dokcuha pulled on his vest, watching as she pointed to the top of the building.
"Oh, you're right! There seems to be people up there. Good job," he cheered.
"Alright! Come here!" He called, picking up the girl and placing her on his hip as he reeled his fist back
"Hold tight. I'm about to show you something real awesome, SHishihsihi."
Dokucha let out an excited squeal as the boy launched himself into the air. It turned out that he was right; his abilities and what he had just done were awesome. However, the post-planning could use some work, as as soon as they made a landing, they had to make a run for it, running away with the man who had convicted her brother in the first place.
It turns out the man was as big a coward as both the Roronoa siblings had first thought. He lost consciousness soon after Luffy 'Kidnapped,' him though the rough handling the latter had given probably had a small part in it.
"Alright, found the katana!" Luffy exclaimed, carrying the unconscious man, who by now had begun spouting bubbles from his mouth
"But there's three katanas, which one is Zoro's?" Luffy asked, looking down at the man and frowning when he received no response
"Ah! You must know which one is his, right?!" Luffy asked, turning towards the kid behind him, who nodded and pointed at the katanas
"Yes, I know one is his, but which one is it?"
Dokucha huffed at this, pulling out three fingers and showing them to the pirate.
"All three?!" he gaped.
"Well, if you say so," he mused, grabbing all three and hanging them from his back.
"Now then! We can head back! Huh, what's wrong?" he asked, looking down at Dokucha as she began pulling at his vest agitatated, and they pointed to the window with frantic eyes.
"That's... Koby! Zoro!" He cried, taking hold of Dokucha and rocketing himself to the execution grounds just in time to stand in the way of the barrage of bullets the marines had unleashed, much to the horror of Koby and the Roronoa siblings
Only for their eyes to be blown out of their sockets as the bullets simply bounced off the man and right back to the Marines, taking the squadron down
"SHSIHIHI"
"What kind of human are you?!"
"Shishishi, the one who will become the pirate King!"
"Look! She told me all three of these swords were yours. Have they stolen your Katana more than once?" he mused.
"No, they stole them at the same time; it's because I use three katanas."
He let out a hum, looking out at the Marines who began to gather around the execution site.
"Resisting the Marines together with me will make you an outlaw, or maybe you want to die here?"
"Are you the offspring of the devil?... Never mind, I'm not about to die here, so how about I accept that request of yours and become a pirate only if she can come as well?"
"Yes! I have two companions!"
"Okay, enough of that, and get these ropes off me!" He yelled
Meanwhile, Dokucha approached the pink-haired man, gently shaking him awake.
"Ugh, Ah, did I faint?" he groaned.
"Oh, thank you, little lady. Do you know what happened?" he questioned, watching as she pointed in front of them
He let out a terrified scream as he took in the scene: a barrage of marines heading their way with swords raised, with only Zoro and Luffy standing in the way. The latter leisurely took the ropes of the hunter while the former screamed at him to hurry up.
"Stop screaming; I need some time. I can't concentrate like this," he called.
"We don't have time for you to take your time!"
"Oh! I untied one side!" he called proudly.
"Idiot! Forget you! Dokucha! Get this off and throw me my swords!"
The girl nodded swiftly, making her way to the two. She snatched the swords on the way, allowing her power to source to her as her nails grew sharper, letting her slice through the remainder of the ropes with ease.
Knowing what was to come, she crouched down to stay out of range from her brother as he easily took care of the group of marines that had launched towards him, holding them at bay with his swords and a spoken threat as he pulled his attention to his soon to be Captain.
"After this incident with the Marines, we will be known as outlaws as well, but it doesn't matter; I still have my own goals!" He boldly exclaimed
"I will become the world's strongest Swordsman, and I will cure my sister; I do not care if my name is clean or not; if I'm a bad guy or a good guy, it matters not as she is able to walk under the sun once again, and my name is known worldwide," he vowed.
"But listen well. I don't care if you are my Captain. If you do anything to get in the way of my goals, I will have you Cut your stomach open in repentance!"
"Good! Since you are about to be the pirate king's crewmate to be the greatest swordsman, if you can't accomplish something that small, I would be embarrassed as well! And I wouldn't accept someone who does not care for their family and crew!"
"Ha! Well said," he laughed, taking notice as Captain Morgan ordered the Marines to hasten their efforts to eliminate them.
"Zoro, duck!" Luffy called as he reeled his leg back, allowing it to stretch and swinging it back, hitting the marines who had not been wise enough to duck it
"Dokucha, you're good," Zoro called, giving the small girl the green light, watching as her lips quirked slightly behind the bamboo as she readied herself.
With Gleeful determination, she launched herself through the air and easily landed in the face of a Marine who had managed to get through Luffy's attack and had tried to take the man down.
Not prepared for the sudden attack, the marine had been sent sprawling, allowing his body to become a stepping stone for the girl to continue her attack on his crewmates who had come to his aid. With practice movements, she easily dodged the slashing of their swords as she ducked down and pushed herself forward, taking the men down before they had realized their mistake.
Letting the adrenaline flowing through her body fuel her moves, she used the momentum to push herself back into the air. Slashing through the rest of the Marines on the plaza, she finished her attack by landing next to Zoro and Luffy.
"Ah! You're pretty strong too!" Luffy clamored, rubbing her head and grinning as the girl beamed at the praise, only for this to turn into horror as the Captain had ordered the marines who had claimed they were unable to beat them to kill themselves. She watched with dread as slowly but surely the men raised their weapons towards themselves.
She watched as Luffy launched himself toward the Captain, effectively causing the men to freeze in their actions as they watched their Captain be taken down by a no-name pirate.
"Wait!" A voice called at the same time a force pulled the girl back
"You move, and I shoot these two!" Helmeppo called as he pointed two guns into both her and Koby's skulls
"Luffy! I don't want to be in your way! I am not afraid of death!" he boldly stated, unable to notice the similar position the girl found herself on
"Okay! I know," Luffy stated with a smile as he reeled his fist back, ignoring the looming threat above him as Morgan got back on his feet.
"Luffy, Look out!" Koby yelled
"Dokucha," he called, grinning as the girl sent her a nod.
The next few seconds passed in a blurry at best, with Luffy reeling back and sending a signal to the girl. She propulsed herself and grabbed Koby, pulling them both out of the range of the blond's guns, allowing Luffy a risk-free hit on him as he called on Zoro the same way he had called Dokucha seconds earlier, watching as the swordsman took care of the Captain about to bring his Axe down on Luffy.
Dokucha's squeals of Victory were nothing compared to the Marines' cheers as they realized they were finally free from Morgan's tyrannical rule. The town, elated with happiness, was not shy in its appreciation of its heroes as it allowed them to feast. That is until the Marines, bound by code, kicked the three out in the nicest way possible, even saluting them as they sailed out into the sea.
"Huh? Dokucha, you can still see them?" Luffy wondered as she watched the girl, one of her arms still waving in the direction of the shore as the other held tightly into the handle of the umbrella
"She has sharper senses than us, being a demon and all," Zoro replied, opening one of his eyes to address the new Captain.
"Oh! Like you?"
"No, My demon title is just an epithet; Dokucha was actually turned into a demon when we were younger; that's why I will find a cure for her."
"Once I become the King of the pirates, I'm sure that will be easy to find!" he cheerily exclaimed
"Say Dokucha, why don't you be our lookout! You have better eyes than us, so it's the perfect job for you!" Luffy excitedly prattled, letting out a belly laugh as she excitedly nodded at the preposition
"That reminds me, Dokucha," Zoro called ominously as he stood up, eyes obscured as a dangerous smirk grew on his face, much to her terror.
"Back there...what was that about running away when I can't stop you?"
Luffy's laugh rang through the vast sea as he watched the Roronoa siblings run around him in circles, with the older one trying to catch up to her and the younger one doing her best to escape his rage.
