actually no i need to talk about the green witch arc. ciel and his band of merry fools go to germany and learn that this forest is haunted by WEREWOLVES and in it is a village full of WITCHES with cursed amulets and potions and whatever

and the immediate vibe is "lol what a bunch of bogus" which is really just batshit coming from the kid with a demon butler

and then woah big reveal! it wasn't werewolves or witches it was a covert military operation REPLETE with radar tracking (not a thing until wwii) and electronic displays (most likely crt screens, which again weren't fully developed until the 1930s) and TANKS. for reference the first "tank" was put together by a guy in 1899 who mounted a machine gun to THIS

absolute paragon of engineering. the panzer (the exact model of tank in the arc) was not a thing until wwi.

and. and ciel and ESPECIALLY the Demon Butler in question are like. ohhhh yeah that makes more sense. the amulets were just transmitting our exact locations through technology that won't exist for another three decades. whew glad we sorted that one out. man wouldn't it have been CRAZY if it really was werewolves.

Natlan could have been so much better if there was an actual emotional component that gave the audience some shock value and some actual concern for the main cast. Not even the main cast seems to care about the main cast how can you expect the players to gaf

after downfall pt.3, there were a lot of "i don't know if ludinus showed bells hells the right thing to make his point"

i was of the same thought last night, but this morning - and crucially, after watching the cooldown - i think ludinus showed them enough to make his point. they witnessed the unreasonable height and breadth of godhood and power. destruction of technology and mortal life, deaths of thousands? tens of thousands living on aeor? and one spell cast - in nothing but a flash - dozens of the most brilliant minds and wizards known to humanity at the time - dead, as dawn broke over the battlefield.

mass death without effort. no spell slots spent. damage beyond mortal power.

it's not a fair fight, and it never was, as brennan so poignantly said.

contextless, imagine seeing the damage these beings wrought in what, two? three? rounds of combat? to imagine in horror the possibility of the heights of their power on mortal earth?? horrifying.

of course there are people out there who only see this facet of the (very, very nuanced) story told; ludinus would be one of those people. to see the self-preservation at the cost of mass death, destruction of knowledge for selfish reasons. untold power, enough to flatten exandria without effort or reason.

there are also people who will see the same story, and will see a story of fractured family, of learning what it is to be mortal. of love, in all its ways and forms.

both sides of the story exist, and matter, and that dichotomy was so brilliantly told by that entire table. what a masterpiece.

Hihi!!! I'm so happy to get this out on time- I can't believe it's been a week already...uni's been crazy- I thought managing schoolwork and CAU would be a breeze, but I realize now that it's extremely exhausting- I can't imagine what it'll be like once I start working too :,)

I've gotten into a rhythm with these pages and I'm finally glad with how Condemned Sans and Condemned Papyrus look in my style- although I need to learn how to do backgrounds because I'm terrible at them and this episode was more background heavy than the last few TuT

Finally, the story's moving forward, and I'm so excited to start working on episodes that aim to answer questions rather than form more!!! Anywho, I'll stop rambling, thank you so much to everyone that has supported the comic so far :)
