For those of you who do not know, I'm a wheelchair fencer. Recently I came up with this mask design based around @capricorn-0mnikorn's 2021 Disabilities Pride Flag and the Modified International Symbol of Accessibility (ISA). I sent the design off to USA Fencing for approval a couple days ago, so we should know within the next few weeks if it has been approved or not. I really hope it does get approved because I'm really proud with how it turned out, and if it does I hope to see plenty of other disabled fencers wearing it on their masks!

Poll, Round Two: what model of disability would you associate with the colour green?

Earlier this month I set up a poll asking folks what model of disability they would associate with the colour green. The idea is to have each stripe of the Disability Pride Flag represent a different model of disability.

You can learn about different models of disability here! As is, we've settled on, blue is the social model, yellow is the affirmation model, red is the debility model, and white is the catch-all for all models not otherwise represented.

But green has been a tricky one! So I put up a poll, and hilariously it ends in a tie: 22.5% for both the human rights model and the eco-crip model. Time for a run-off vote!

Flags in order: GERD, arthritis, migraine, undiagnosed and hidden disabilites, EDS, cardiovascular disorders, high blood sugar, low blood sugar, hearing loss, visual impairments

I made disability pride flags for different disabilities I have that either didn't have flags or were made by someone that was a bigot! I hope you like them! They are all meant to have the same white and black stripes as the white and black in them represents the community we have in each other and hardship/struggle that every single one of us face.

These are free for anyone to use but op is endogenic safe, supports contradictory labels, supports mogai/liom, and is anti radqueer/transID

In July 1990, the Americans with Disabilities Act was signed by President George H.W. Bush. This landmark legislation is the reason we celebrate this in July.

The Disability Pride Flag, created by Ann Magill and later revised with community input in 2021, symbolizes and includes the following:

• "Red - physical disabilities

• Gold - neurodiversity

• White - invisible disabilities and disabilities that haven't yet been diagnosed

• Blue - emotional and psychiatric disabilities, including mental illness, anxiety, and depression

• Green - for sensory disabilities, deafness, blindness, lack of smell, lack of taste, audio processing disorder, and all other sensory disabilities

• Gray - mourning and rage for victims of ableist violence and abuse

The diagonal band cuts across the walls and barriers that separate the disabled from normate society, also representing light and creativity cutting through the darkness."
