Autistic memeber of the Astral Express

[ PLATONIC HEADCANONS ] [ Pom Pom, Himeko, Welt, March, Dan Heng & the trailblazer ]
[ Honkai Star Rail ]

I want to make this some kind of tradition, having at least one fic with autistic reader for every fandom I write for! Request or original idea, it doesn't matter, the important is bring cute fics and comfort!!
Hope you enjoy it and feel the inmense love and comfort Moonie is expressing for you, dear reader ❤️❤️

The astral express is constantly reciving people from the whole galaxy, everyone is welcome to the visit the astral express, and just like that everyone is more than welcome to joing the nameless and travel across the universe, helping people in need
Everyone has a past and a reason to why they choose to follow their own path, and thats is respected in the astral express, they aren't bothered by it in the slighest (and even if you prefer to don't say anything about it its okay too), once you decided to join the crew you imediatly become part of the family and are accepted as such
It will be quite helpful if you are sincere and tell them about your condition, or at least one of the crew, that way they will be able to help you feel more comfortable and adapt what it is need to adapt to bring you comfort, no one in the crew will be disrespectful or think less of you (in fact, every one is more than willing to share some words of comfort if you feel insecure or even bad for your disability)
Pom Pom as the driver of the astral express he end up taking the charge of taking care of the crew (and visitors) while your stay on the train, so that is why at the end, once you joined the nameless was him who directly approached to you and ask you if there were something you needed to feel more comfortable, inisiting that there is no need to be shy, you are free to talk to him if you need anything. As well, since Pom Pom is the once who is in charge to cook (not that it bothers him, he does it with joy) he will ask you at some point if you have any preferences or even what is what you like the most when it comes to food (at the end Pom Pom will learn how to make your comfort food just the way you like it! and he actually feels quite proud of himself for that)
If changes tend to cause you distress the constantly traveling around the galaxy and constantly visiting all kind of worlds can not be the best for you, however to help you with that Himeko always make sure to take time before the jump to tell you about your next destination, telling you all the details she can in hopes to help you feel less anxious and stress by the new enviroment, as well with knowing the name of the planet you can easily search for more information in the data bank that the train owns (and since Dan Heng is always there he is more than willing to help you search the information you need)
As well, if you feel that there is something in the enviroment of your next destination that you may not be able to handle too well then you can just stay on the train while the rest of the crew take care of the problem, besides it is helpful if someone stays on the train (and if you decide to stay on the train March promise to take a lot of photos just for you and will try to bring you and Pom Pom a souvenier)
Even when you have a disability no one in the astral express will look down or think less of you, in fact all of them will try to learn about your disability and how it affects you to be able to offer the help you need, and they always does. Himeko is the best to bring comfort or help you understand things you struggle with, as well she can show you around the train and teach you how it works if you really want to know, Welt is also really good with comfort but more indirectly, making sure you never forget how apreciate you are by everyone (and not only in the astral express)
March will be the one who has more problems with adapting to your condition because she is really clingy and loud, she loves dragging you to what she is up to because she consider you as a really good friend is her way to show you how much she likes you, that is why she has to be reminded constantly to respect your space and to don't be too loud or touchy, either by you or the rest of the crew. Is probably that more than once she have trigger you and made you upsed (or even made your body hurt due the overestimulation), but that has never being her intention and she always try to make it up for you
Dan Heng is the one who is more quickly to adapt to your needs, he respects a lot your condition and always make it clear, even if he has never being too expressive you can tell by his actions how much he loves and cares for the astral express crew, including you, you can notice the little hints of him making sure there is nothing that could trigger discomfort or distress on you or quietly checking on you whenever you are spending time together, it isn't that he underestimated you but he does worry for you. Also, he has never have problems with people coming to the archives (even if it kinda is his room), so if you it brings you comfort the quiet and peaceful atmosphere of that room you are more than welcome to go whenever you want
Despite having a lot of knowledge due Kafka's helps, after their memories being eraised the trailblazer is now more like a newborn and everything is quite new, so they has to take some time to adapt and properly learn how to treat you to don't make you upset or bring you discomfort by accident, not that they thinks that your disability is a problem, is just that they don't want to bring you troubles, although, for them it won't be as dificult to adapt as it is for March and once they do and finally feels comfortable (knowing that they won't make you feel uncomfortable neither) they just become a great friend and a little bit protective over you too

Arcane Characters that Keep Getting Left Out and it Makes Me Sad:
Sevika (okay we cannot have Jinx's cute little new found family with Isha and Vi without Sevika!!!! She's their dad!!!!! Boogiewoogiewoogie ) she is also a disabled butch politician icon and I love her. I know that has nothing to do with the found family but-- stop leaving her out just let her be the dad she was made to be!!!
Mylo and Claggor- Okay I loved that Zaundads concept art with the adorable family photo of them from the Good Timeline with Powder but WHERE are her brothers???? They are an integral part of this family in this universe and at this point they would be in Vander/Silco's lives almost just as long as Powder was 😭 like I know Silco and Vander knew her mom so there was an added bond there but NO. They are good dads and would NOT do favoritism. Powder lost her sister already in this timeline don't take her brothers away too >:,,,,( they r a family of 5 and they love each other!!!! I choose to think that Family Photo was just for Powder winning her school science fair and that's why it's just her and parents, they have copies of the same photo with teenage Mylo and Claggor also hanging in their hallway next to that one.
Sky- Even the creators forgot about her so I can't really blame the fandom for this but-- if y'all are gonna put JayVik and Meljay into a polycule how can you leave my girl out??? Viktor's queerplatonic soul-bestie who lived in his brain for like,,,, a year or more???? Rude!!!! She deserves to get that bag (the bag being Jayce, Mel, and Viktor. All three of them.) These four need to snuggle (or worse) in the Astral Realm and I do not take notes.

I like to imagine an epilogue scene where Viktor and Jayce are sitting shoulder to shoulder on some beach-like nebula on the astral mind palace.
And then Viktor says, "By the way, fuck you."
"Bwuh?"
"Even fresh off a death world and down half your sanity, you are such a goddamn privileged liberal noble."
"What? I- Viktor, where is this coming from?"
"My disability didn't make me damaged? Was part of who I was and shouldn't be changed? Jayce I was fucking dying from a wasting illness I contracted playing in tainted water from the mines that supplied *your* family's factories. Absolutely fuck you and the hammer you rode in on."
"Well I- I mean ... it sounded like a poetic and affirming line in my head? I meant it in good way?"
"Of that I am absolutely certain."
"Hey what's that supposed to mean?!"

There are so many ways that Voltron: Legendary Defender failed its characters. From the unfathomably idiotic decision to kill Allura off in the finale, to putting Coran through the pain of losing his family twice over, to all of the "jokes" at the expense of Hunk's anxiety, weight, and stomach problems.
But, to me, the most egregious example of this will forever be the numerous ways that Shiro was mistreated, even though I fully believe that most of them were unintentional and the fault of incompetence, rather than maliciousness.
I never expected a show with a TV-Y7 rating that was made to sell toys to children to address this character's extensive trauma in any meaningful way. And, perhaps there was a push behind the scenes to sideline him in order to bring Keith to the forefront, due to Keith being the head of Voltron in previous incarnations, and Shiro essentially being a Canon Foreigner created exclusively for this series.
But, when you have: - A poorly executed attempt to recreate Shiro's fight with Zarkon in the Astral Plane, void of the stunning visuals, impressively fluid fight choreography, and emotional and narrative stakes.
(Shiro fighting the show's main villain and his predecessor hand-to-hand for control of one of the most powerful weapons in the universe, vs the Paladins fighting shadowy, faceless foes that none of them- aside from Allura- have any personal connections to or conflict with, even once their identities are revealed, with long-range weapons, inside of Honerva's head.)
- Shiro, the previously "undefeated" Champion of Zarkon's gladiatorial arena and a highly trained and skilled martial artist, being slapped across the bridge of his own ship.
-Shiro's personal abuser telling him that the arm that was forcibly grafted onto his body in an attempt to turn him into a weapon for the Galra Empire is "the strongest part" of him,

Slav, an ally, echoing the sentiment and arguing that Shiro would be "even stronger with two robotic arms", and the first half of Season Seven confirming as much by depicting Shiro standing, often completely mute, on the sidelines
until he's outfitted with a new prosthetic arm. Only then is he actively allowed to participate in combat, again, and promoted to Captain of the Atlas.
-Shiro winning an intergalactic arm wrestling tournament to prove that he isn't a washed-up retiree (at the ripe old age of twenty-six), with that prosthetic.
-Said prosthetic being a mirror of his abuser's.

-No acknowledgement of Shiro's essence being transferred into the body of his clone that is down an arm. Or, how he's coping with not only not having a right arm at all, but also having been dead for a huge chunk of time, trapped inside the consciousness of the Black Lion and watching on helplessly as someone wearing his face tried to kill everyone he loves, and then resurrected to be suddenly "retired" through no choice of his own.
-Aside, of course, from an all-too lighthearted and chipper comment on routine helping him get through "being in the infinite void of the Black Lion", and a throwaway quip about how "having my consciousness transplanted from the infinity of Voltron's inner quintessence into the dead body of an evil clone of myself" has left him "a little out of sorts".
-And, Shiro not getting to kill his abuser, or even best him in combat.
Instead, he lies beaten and helpless, once again, as Keith, his replacement, takes Sendak out.
It crosses the line from clumsy writing to infuriating negligence and ineptitude.
The repeated violations of Shiro's autonomy, and what seems by all rights to be unintended ableism, even though it borders on outright disrespectful, went above and beyond any terrible writing and direction that I anticipated gritting my teeth and slogging through when I decided to finally bite the bullet and watch this show. It's utterly baffling to me that no one seemed to stop and realize that, "Hey, maybe introducing and then reinforcing the sentiment that a disabled man's prosthetic is the 'strongest part' of him, and he's effectively weak and useless without it, is a bad idea", at any point in the creative process before these episodes made it to air.
I wholeheartedly believe that as much as other characters were wronged, Voltron: Legendary Defender and its notoriously hellish fanbase that was more concerned with who these characters were having sex with than the actual plot, did not deserve Takashi Shirogane.
Shiro; a gay man, ace pilot, ambitious space explorer, and scarred trauma survivor who was abducted and forced to kill for the entertainment of his captors, subjected to unimaginable torture, and had his body modified without his knowledge or consent twice, yet never let any of his experiences, no matter how grueling or dehumanizing, stop him from being gentle, compassionate, noble, brave, self-sacrificing, and everything that epitomizes a True Hero, right to the bitter end.
#Takashi Shirogane#Shiro#You're nothingness but shining and everywhere at once.#Voltron: Legendary Defender#Meta.#VLD Meta.#I hate this show and I am not kidding.#You deserved so much better#Shiro sweetie.#Infinitely better.#And I'm frustrated and saddened and deeply disappointed by all of it.

Audio Drama Sunday - 2nd February ✨
I feel like I’ve had such an audio drama-filled week, it’s been so nice 🥺
🦋 @remnantspod (26) Hoooo boy. Listening to this one before work was certainly a Choice!! I found the exploration of how disability affects people around you in ways you can’t control and may feel guilt about something really valuable to explore. My wife had a big operation and needed a wheelchair for a while last year and it was something that came up for us, but I’ve never seen it explored in audio drama!
And, of course, we hit again this idea of unfulfilled potential - the typewriter that was never used. The scenes with Sir and the Apprentice were very interesting…The idea of it being safe to give the apprentice information because he ‘won’t last’ made me wince. Also I’m back on my angel Peter BS, I think Sir is actually meant to be judging ‘the apprentice’. The Apprentice seemed not to fear the ‘dust’ when he’s seen it. But I don’t know how to feel about something that can make Sir beg…
🎃 Waiting For October by @monkeymanproductions (4) hello, I am here to give my life for Frederick! 😻 I really loved the train gremlins, for some reason they really reminded me of the film Labyrinth but I don’t know why! Poor Karo, every part of this trip is bringing up so much for her.
🧋 @hinaypod (33-34) I’ve listened to so much Hi Nay this week as the episodes were split into parts. I finally hit the bit where Murphy has to make an awful decision, but I’m yet to see the consequences! The fear death books make for some incredibly spooky tales! Hearing the house-sitter story from both perspectives was particularly chilling! I think these episodes have highlighted how much they need Mari around!! Also, I definitely missed the part where Laura and CJ got together officially! Good for u, girls!! ALSO, the idea that The Benefactor actually tried to split the power equally and is/was only going after people who tried to hoard power is verrrry interesting. In my head, he’s been set up as the Big Bad but it seems like there’s more to it than that!
🍾 @ameliapodcast (43-46) what a great start to the season! I’m a little bit terrified by Kozlowski, and a little bit in love with him. I don’t know what is happening to my dear Interviewer, but I need a solution fast!!
🌨️ @thewhitevault (17) Ohhh Dragana!!! She has been affected!! I had no doubt that she would be able to get them out of Goshawk safely. . . but now I do! And ugh, the scene where you hear the woman’s voice go repeat the cry for help at a different door is just awful! I love seeing the grípralviðr in action! It’s been so interesting to get a proper look behind the curtain at how the families operate through the eyes of someone who it’s all kind-of new to as well!
🌵 @desertskiespodcast (12) Songs? Sung ✅ Astral Plane? Saved ✅ Tears? SHED!!! I was having a lovely old time listening to this episode until the new little passenger turned on the old lacrimal hosepipe. I’ve absolutely loved this season and I’ve only heard good things about what’s to come!
I can’t tell you how excited I am for the return of @hellofromthehallowoods this week. Get me back to those black pines, please! I have missed you so much 🖤

Flower of a Poisonous Seed Part 42:
Part 41:
Three more weeks went by, and it was finally time to bring Nezha home.
Nezha: Thanks for making this new wheelchair for me, Red Son. This will make things much easier during my recovery. Plus, I get to match with Wukong!
RS: No problem. I've actually taken quite a liking to designing and building mobility devices and prosthetics.
SWK: Pigsy showed me his prosthetic leg that you built for him after I mentioned you made my wheelchair. It has a very unique design, and you did a great job building it to fit his anatomy and work life.
RS: Thank you, Uncle. I offered to make a prosthetic eye for Macaque, but he said he didn't want technology embedded in his face.
SWK: Understandable.
Nezha: That may also be because my father found a marble that was a good size and fit to work as a prosthetic for Macaque, but Macaque being himself doesn't want to admit he's fond of the gift.
SWK: Neat! What's it look like?
Nezha: Father took a picture and sent it to me. It's a galaxy themed one. It looks to have various stars and astral particles floating around in it. *shows them the picture*
SWK: Ooh! Pretty!
RS: I never thought about making prosthetics or mobility devices that could double as jewelry. I often take a person's likes and interests into consideration when choosing the color of them, but I never really considered making one as a bit of a statement piece as well.
Nezha: Yes, with mobility devices, practicality is more important than looks, but it is nice to have ones that look pleasing to the eye.
Nezha: Take my compression socks and gloves, for instance. There are many different designs that I can use to mix and match with whatever outfit I might be wearing that day.
SWK: You've got a wide selection of them. Sorry if I've ever borrowed your favorites.
Nezha: It's okay. You didn't yet have any of your own, and you needed them more than I did back then.
RS: Also, compression socks are cozy and fun to wear even if you don't need them. I quite enjoy wearing my own pairs. I also enjoy wearing weighted shirts.
SWK: I really like my strawberry restraining mittens. If they weren't so soft and strawberry themed, I'd probably have fought you guys a lot more about wearing them.
Nezha: Yes, I was a similar way when I was younger. If I didn't have stickers on my mobility aids and have appropriately themed compression clothing, I'd throw the biggest fits over using them.
RS: What did you do with the stuff you grew out of anyhow?
Nezha: I gave them away as hand me downs to children whose parents couldn't afford to buy such things. I would also take off any of my old stickers and give them new stickers and stuff to personalize them.
SWK: Awww! That's sweet!
Nezha: Thanks. My father and eldest brother would often go overboard with buying me mobility aids. I still probably have too many, even with Wukong borrowing them.
SWK: But hey, at least you can pay it forward!
Nezha: True. Also, my father told me that he and Erlang are trying to make it easier for families living in the Celestial Realm to get access to and buy mobility aids for the people who need them.
RS: That's wonderful!
Nezha: They're even trying to make buildings and public spaces more accessible for the disabled.
SWK: YES! It's been such a hassle.
RS: I never realized how many staircases were in the Celestial Realm until I was pushing Uncle around on our day out two weeks ago. Luckily, I built in treads specifically for that, but I know most wheelchair users don't have that luxury.
Nezha: I'm very grateful for their efforts, and I know others will be too. I didn't even ask them to do this either. They did this on their own accord!
SWK: That'll make so many people's lives easier.
RS: And thank goodness for that!

Brief Personality:
[Reworking]
Brief Backstory:
Nope!
Aculia comes from a storybook called "Tales of Archalia," written by a man named Daniel Crane. It was a tale as old as time—The Evil Witch Jackelyn had captured the rulers of the world, planning on destroying it. She had to go through many different twists and challenges. Blah blah blah, you know the story by now.
With her and her three friends, she had ventured to the top of the tower and done it. They had bested the witch; they had saved the day! And so everyone lived happily forever after…
But, over time, Aculia began to become… bothered. She noticed things didn't change any more. The same people with the same routines, the same dialogue, and even the same patterns every day.
It started off small. Her being less polite to people or ignoring her party members coming to visit. This caused a change. Almost as if the world itself was forced to, people began to act differently. The pre-set patterns they had gone under altered. Finally, after weeks, something new…!
That was the key. She just had to try different things, and everything would be peachy! They'd get back to their grand old adventures, and she would stop being so… bored.
What turned into a few small stunts here or there quickly turned into bad habits—using Alchemy to create hard substances, indulging in the unspoken pleasures of life, and whatnot, and so forth. This sudden change in personality deeply worried her friends, who attempted to comfort her.
For some reason though, their words rang more… hollow than usual, though. She couldn't quite put why, but something just didn't feel right about this place anymore. It felt too happy, too colorful—too cheerful. So... Fake...?
...
"Aculia, look—I know you don't want to talk right now, but… we were really worried about you. #u*#$ Said he found you passed out at the tavern the other day."
"Yeah!!! I don't know what's gotten into you recently, but knock it off. Your really freaking us out!!!"
"If something is troubling your heart, please tell us. We are always here for you."
"Please… were really… really scared… talk to us… please talk to us."
"I said I don't want to talk."
"Aculia, please-"
She-
"I SAID, I DON'T WANT TO TALK!!!"
…I ran away after that. My mind was in such a haze that I didn't know what to do. I hadn't known what to do for months now. It was just always the same until I did something bad, then it would change again.
I stumbled towards the old tower and began to walk around it. It was empty, empty as always. All that remained was the witch's old staff. I picked it up and examined it…
A scroll compartment??? I wonder what she kept in it.
i- no- i- this has to be a lie. but, its- how would she know that info about me- why is it all just there... nonono please
please
she couldn't of been- no she couldn't of been telling the truth
NO, NO, NO, NO, NO! I REFUSE I REFUSE I RE-
That's when I realized. No wonder it all felt fake. Because it was fake! Everything around me was always fake. It was just someone's writing, and that person had left me to rot at a dead end. No actual conclusion or anything; nothing for me to go forward to. Just… THE END! He left me to ROT!!!!
Well, you thought I was going to take that one lying down? Nope! Nope, NOPE! I didn't! I broke out of that prison, and all it cost me was everyone I ever cared about. A small price to pay. That witch was right in the end; I did need to destroy the world to be free!
And when I finally got out, I discovered something incredible!!! So many worlds, so many people to help liberate. So many are doomed to their fixed fates in the narrative. I knew that I could help them—if I just took the strings and pulled them in their favor, things would change!
As long as I keep on trying to make things change, one day I'll feel happy! I mean, I'm already happy, but one day, I'll
I'll- YEAH! Anyways, eventually, I found the guy who had left me to rot. I gave him a book that let him see the truth, and then proceeded to trap him in it. He thinks he's free, but I'm the one in control for once!
Thats right, I won! I have all the cards in my hands! ME! I am the one on the stage! I'm not lonely! I'm happy! I'm GREAT! I'm fantastic! I'm-
I-
Why do I still feel so empty…?
And so she drifts throughout the universe, searching for more people to "free." But in the end, is freedom really worth it when there is nothing to enjoy?
I suppose that is a question for you to ask yourself, dear reader.

Valentina's first moments earthside were meant to be her last, purple and unmoving as she lay on the wooden floor between her mother’s spread thighs. A stranger's home was hardly the place to deliver a baby, but Ximena Garcia’s mental state was about as low as it could get, and it was a miracle in itself that she made it out of the off-season snow storm and into shelter before the baby came. It seemed that the miracles didn’t stop there, because somehow, the kind woman who'd seen her stumbling out in the snow in her PJs used to be a nurse. The woman had ushered Ximena into her home just as she began crowning and coached the scared, confused first time mom through the birth.
Valentina's first moments earthside were meant to be her last.
Only they weren’t.
A shrill cry rang through the room. She’d escaped death for the first time at less than ten minutes old, and for the rest of her life, for better or for worse, that inexplicable luck would follow her.
Ximena's parents were immigrants to the United States from an impoverished part of Mexico, and when her father, the family breadwinner, passed away in a work-related accident, her family life took a turn for the worst. The oldest of six children, with a mother with disability, Ximena had to step into the role of head-of-the-household, and the pressures of it toll an irreparable toll to her mental and emotional health. The older she got, the worse her undiagnosed depression and PTSD became, and after her mother died, her siblings one by one cut ties with her and moved away as a result. Carlos on the other hand came from a long line of powerful and respected witches originating from a large metropolitan city in Mexico. They'd migrated to the United States decades ago, and had lived in Lunar Cove since its inception. He had an ideal upbringing, great education, great job. He was someone who’d never even given a second thought to the plight of the less fortunate. But after meeting Ximena at a party his friends had dragged him to, his worldview took a sharp turn, and his life’s purpose became wanting to save the woman he’d fallen madly in love with. In the months after they first started dating, he started slacking at work, missing shifts. He grew distant from his family and the Coven he used to be so greatly involved with. He became a different man, all in the name of love.
In the next two years, both his parents passed away, and whatever family he had left made the decision to leave Lunar Cove, and him, behind, returning to Mexico. The Coven had all but washed their hands of him by that point as well, so all he had left was Ximena, and all she had left was him.
To his credit, Carlos tried multiple times to get Ximena help, to get her on the medications she clearly needed. When the pregnancy test came back positive, Carlos really thought it could be a changing point in their lives. Only it wasn’t. The night she went into labour she’d left their home in the middle of a snow storm in a frightful episode. It was hardly the first time, he knew she’d be back eventually. And she was. Only she’d turned up on the doorstep with a stranger at her side, one who was holding a raggedy bundle of cloth against her chest. And before he could say anything more, the bundle started to wail.
Valentina's first year of life was a struggle for everyone involved. Even after she’d been cleared to come home from the hospital, she continued to be a fussy, irritable, unsettled infant. She didn’t eat well, she didn’t sleep well, and she was always crying. Ximena stuck around until two days before Valentina's first birthday, at which point she disappeared in the middle of the night without a word. It ruined Carlos. He spent days looking for her, days hoping she’d come back, but in the end neither Carlos nor Valentina ever saw Ximena again. A single father, now literally and figuratively, Carlos tried his best to cope and care for a young child, but inevitably he gave into the call of alcohol.
Valentina was nearly five before started to get the idea that her little family of two wasn’t normal. But it was all she knew. As time went on and Carlos continued to sink into his depression, Coven members would try to drop by, wanting to bring food or toys for Val, wanting to check up on them for her sake. And every time they were met with Carlos in a belligerent state, refusing to take the help and running them off. Carlos never put his hands on her, he’d never even raised his voice at her. He kept her clothed and fed and she had a roof over her head. But that was the extent of it.
The Sullivan’s lived a few doors down, Val didn’t know much about them other than the fact that the kids who lived there had both parents in the household and always seemed to be so happy when she caught them out and about. They had a son around her age, Jacob, she’d seen him at school, and it was obvious to her even as a child how different their lives were. The first time Emma Sullivan caught her peeking over the fence at the family having a barbeque in their driveway, she welcomed her over for a plate, and without any hesitation she gave an open invitation for Val to come over whenever she wanted, whether it was for a meal or she needed someone to talk to.
The next few years of Valentina's life were more of the same, a father overcome by his own grief and a young girl left to her own devices. Inevitably Valentina's worldview started to take a turn. She became more resentful of her situation, resentful of her father, resentful of her mother and honestly resentful of Lunar Cove as a whole. She didn’t feel like she belonged there, and often she’d fantasize about leaving altogether one day. By some miracle, perhaps because of that inexplicable luck that saved her at birth, what she lacked in family, she found in friendship.
Valentina first met Poppy Reed in grade school, when they found themselves assigned to sit next to one another. Bonded over their mutual dislike of Lunar Cove for their own respective reasons, Poppy and Val became best friends seemingly overnight. Whatever free time they had they spent together, more often than not up to some kind of mischief in town, dreaming about the day they’d be old enough to leave Lunar Cove in their rearview mirror. Soon another joined, Reese Hawthorne, making their duo a trio.
One after the other the girls started manifesting their inherent abilities, and Val was grateful for the closest people in her life because if it wasn’t for Poppy, Reese and Jake and the guidance their families provided, she would’ve had a hard time getting through it. They were the only family she knew and cared to have, and it was them she celebrated with once she finally became a member of the Coven herself.
Despite all the things she did have going for her in life, it always seemed that the sins of her parents would continue to haunt her. When she was around others she was an enigma, but when she came home at night she was just another sad, lonely girl. Combined with the hormones that came with teenhood, it was inevitable that she would start testing boundaries and acting out, especially when she never had much structure or discipline at home. She was known as something of a wild child around town, and it wasn’t uncommon for the townsfolk to come across her getting into some sort of mischief.
Unsurprisingly to most, as she later found out, Valentina and Jake started dating her freshman year of high school. They were young and dumb, hardly making the best decisions, especially on her part, but it was…nice. The toxicity must’ve been genetic, however, because they crashed and burned a few short years later, and she could acknowledge that that outcome was on her. Her mother taught her that people don’t stick around, and her father taught her that being left would ruin you, it didn’t make for a very healthy view of relationships.
In the aftermath Valentina just wanted things to go back to how they were when they were younger, and things seemed to be fine at first- but just a few weeks later Jake was already dating someone new, her dad started getting sick, liver failure, and everything was just getting to be a little too much. She subsequently dropped out a month into their senior year. Outwardly she was still the same Valentina, loud and outgoing, seemingly bulletproof despite everything. But inwardly she was becoming more and more unhappy with her life in Lunar Cove. Her best friends were the only things keeping her sane at that point, but there was only so much she could do, and eventually it got to the point where even Poppy and Reese weren't enough to keep her in LC.
Six months after she dropped out, Valentina asked Poppy and Reese to meet at their spot late at night, and she met them with a duffle bag tucked over her shoulder. She was leaving Lunar Cove. They’d always planned that they’d do it together some day, ride out of town side by side, but she just couldn’t wait any longer for that dream to come to pass. Come find me some day, it was a promise, and with a final embrace, Val disappeared in the night much like her mother had, without a trace.
For the next decade Valentina lived life like a true rolling stone, moving from one place to the next, leaving behind her a wake of chaos and broken hearts. She never ended up going back to school, but it was easy to find work as a dancer those first few years, later going back and forth between that and bartending, two jobs she excelled at and truly enjoyed. She grew into the kind of woman who was the life of the party, someone who enjoyed the thrill of being the center of attention and drew it naturally. Her habit of testing boundaries continued as she got older, the possibilities only expanding in adulthood. She partied and raved, travelled abroad with strangers on a whim, hitchhiked alone in the middle of nowhere, drugs, alcohol, sex, you name it, she did it. Whatever angel had been looking over her since her birth must’ve been exhausted, because it was a miracle she made it out of certain situations unscathed, even with her magic.
Val got into and out of relationships almost as if it were a sport, always making sure she was the one doing the leaving rather than being the one who was left. There were plenty of times her idea of ‘ending a relationship’ was disappearing in the middle of the night and moving to a different place entirely. It was a dangerous game considering some of the kinds of men and women she was associating with, and eventually it caught up to her. She’d been in Vancouver, BC for six months in the company of a rich, older married couple. It was a pretty good deal, she never paid for anything, she got to do whatever she wanted, the sex was great. She was having the time of her life. But inevitably she got bored, and when she tried to leave, she realized she might’ve finally messed with the wrong kind of people.
It wasn’t soon after that that Valentina found herself evaluating her life for the first time. She was nearly thirty-five and she was still living her life like a twenty-year-old, without a care in the world, not even for her own safety. It wasn’t like she wasn’t enjoying it, but she did wonder how much longer it could be sustained.
The only constant in her life since she’d left Lunar Cove nearly eighteen years ago were Poppy and Reese, the only people she’d bothered to keep in touch with. She knew Poppy and Reese were still in Lunar Cove, that Poppy was the new Supreme. And despite her apprehensiveness at returning to the only placed she’d ever called home, she felt like it was time. And so she packed her things up and made her way back to the town where it all began.

Fitness level: Kadenza’s fitness level is high since she is constantly adventuring and fighting but a lot of her arm strength comes from her Botany hobby
Tattoos: NA
Scars/Birthmarks: She has a scar running from her left shoulder nearly down to her right hip from where Zenos struck her down on their first dual; due to how fast she was treated the skin healed without leaving too much of a dark mark
Other distinguishing features: Her pale blue left eye after Ardbert’s soul merged with her own. She also wears a yellow chrysanthemum pin in her hair and wears saffron colored eye shadow in the corners of her eyes.
Disabilities: NA
Cleanliness/Grooming: For someone who’s constantly traveling or sleeping outdoors, she’s constantly doing her best to stay clean. Due to her being raised in a small village in the Twelveswood, she’s used to cleaning up in fresh bodies of lakes, rivers, ponds, etc. so she’ll take her time to freshen up whenever given the moment to.
Coordination (or lack thereof): Her coordination is immaculate due to her being a bard. Her father drilled it into her that a good bard must be coordinated and fluid.
𝐻𝒾𝓈𝓉𝑜𝓇𝓎
Birth date: Third Sun of the Sixth Astral Moon in 1552
Guardian: Menphina, the Lover
Place of birth: Sharlayan
Key family members:
Kara Valdisdottir (biological sister)
Lucienne and Yves Amadea-Leonis (adoptive parents)
Ty’rion Amadea-Leonis (adoptive brother)
Notable events/milestones:
Following in her father’s footsteps, Kadenza finally joined the Archer’s Guild and spent years working her way to becoming a renowned Bard within the guild. The day she became a Bard her family threw a celebration for her to honor her achievement.
As she did her due diligence as a Scion, she also made sure to fulfill her duties as a member within the Twin Adders. Her diligence paid off as she has been honored with merits to become the Second Lieutenant and create her own squadron.
Criminal record: She has a fairly clean slate, she’s kind of too honest to a fault.
Affiliations:
The Gridanian Branch of the Adventurer’s Guild
Scions of the Seventh Dawn
Second Lieutenant of the Order of the Twin Adder
The Archer’s Guild
The Fisher’s Guild
The Culinary Guild
Haus de Leonis
Lore: Kadenza had been born in Sharlayan along with her elder sister Kara but they were separated during the Garlean Invasion in 1557. She was only 5 summers old when her parents had been slain by Garlean troops. Kara, her elder sister, did what she could to lead Kadenza to safety but ended up being captured and shackled to other children and teens who were not fortunate enough to escape. Kara’s last word echoing in her head to run and to stay with the others.
For months Kadenza traveled with a group of survivors that were making their way to Ishgard but with the dangers of dragons and wyvern, many of them were killed trying to defend themselves. After a while she found herself alone following a single moogle to Gods know where. The little sprite led her to safety, using a magick to make her invisible as they traversed the desolate lands of The Churning Mist. It wasn’t too long that she was led to their little village of Moghome, where she was taken care of for a few months until an uninvited person stumbled into their cave; a young Elezen man, with a bow on his back and a small harp placed on his hip, Yves Amadea-Leonis. For weeks the man waited outside the cave trying to convince Kadenza that he meant no harm and only wanted to help. It was the moogle who rescued her that convinced her to join the man, for she would have a better life among those similar to her. From there she followed the man to Gridania where he and his wife, Lucienne, raised her alongside a Vieran boy, Ty’rion, as their own.
Other notes: Being acknowledged as Hydaelyn’s Chosen has caused much dissonance within herself, as having the title as Warrior of Light has been exhausting coupled with her ties to being a Scion and Twin Adder Lieutenant. She constantly wrestles with her identity and has a severe case of imposter syndrome. This is an identity she constantly wrestles with that has pushed her further into being more aloof and reclusive in regards to letting people near her. She’s only recently been allowing herself to open up again after the events of Shadowbringers where she was nearly overwhelmed by corrupted light. Having Ardbert by her side has made her open her heart to relying on others and being more vulnerable with her allies.
𝒫𝓈𝓎𝒸𝒽𝑜𝓁𝑜𝑔𝒾𝒸𝒶𝓁 𝒯𝓇𝒶𝒾𝓉𝓈
Personality type: INFJ-T (Introverted, Intuitive, Feeling, Judging - Turbulent Advocate)
Focuses on the difficult parts of a problem.
Fueled by their worries and concerns, and these can be used to make significant progress.
Often affected by and caught up in the drama of life
Often affected by stress and regret because their regrets weigh on them more, but is more likely to learn from mistakes
Personality traits: Headstrong, Compassionate, Empathetic, Decisive, Sensitive, Aloof, Ambitious, Altruistic, a tad Sarcastic when annoyed
Temperament: INFJ The Empath | The Counselor
Introvert/Extrovert: Introvert
Mannerisms: Since her adoptive family is Elezen, Kadenza is a bit more formal when it comes to speaking and her posture reflects that as well. Though since she lived in a smaller village, when she visits city-states like Gridania or Ishgard the Elezen there believe her manners are not as refined. However to other races are confused when meeting this small Hyuran woman who seems more Elezen than Hyur.
Educational background: Kadenza is more street smart than book smart due to her upbringing. She is well versed in Elezen history and music. All that she has learned is knowledge passed down from the village elders and her Bard father (and his trusty band of Bard friends). Her mother has taught her botany and how to care for smaller creatures and gave her a white Ferret named Vani for her 15th nameday.
Intelligence: She is a fairly decent problem solver but is terrible when it comes to arithmetic. One pro is that she’s open to learning anything, a con is that she has to try extra hard when learning if it’s not something she has engaged with before.
Self-esteem: Kadenza’s self esteem was decent, she was always proud of her accomplishments and reflected on her failures. However there was a major shift in her self reflection and esteem when she was realized as the Warrior of Light. Due to this she suffers from a case of imposter syndrome more often than not. She has been doing her best to cope and get back to herself before that acknowledgment.
Hobbies: She enjoys logging different plants she’s found on her adventures across Eorzea, it’s one of the things that brings her comfort and reminds her of home. She’s often creating different flower arrangements and decorating her home with the final products. Although not the best at it, she joined the Fisher’s Guild so she could learn how to fish and does it recreationally with her brother Ty’rion when they’re catching up.
Skills/talents: Singing and dancing are among some of Kadenza’s best talents. She had been taught so many folk songs from village elders and her father that these talents ended up becoming second nature to her. She loves playing her crudely crafted ocarina and harp. Due to how often she sang and danced around the village with her little harp in hand she had been given the nickname “Chirrup”, referring to how she fluttered about the village like a little canary.
Loves: Very cliche but she loves chocobos and moogles. Her love for moogles from childhood when she was saved by a moogle that led her to Moghome. And her love for chocobos? She loves the way they “kweh” and how fluffy they are. From scattered pieces of her childhood in Sharlayan, she remembers her family herding and training them so the fondness has just been a part of her life.
Morals/Virtues: Her morals are steeped in never compromising herself or allies to achieve her goals. She never wants anyone to doubt her intentions and will be honest when she feels at odds with certain decisions. Her family has ingrained to her that her bonds and connections to everyone is what strengthens her and she must not forget all those who work alongside her. These morals are what keep her from completely closing off others.
Phobias/Fears:
Fear: The biggest fear Kadenza faces is loss due to not being strong enough to save others. Although she knows she can’t protect everyone, it scares her when she can’t save as many as possible… even at the expense of her own livelihood.
Phobias: She thinks bog yarzon are the worst creatures she’s ever encountered and visibly shiver whenever encountering one. On her first venture when she ran into one she nearly dropped her bow. She also has thalassophobia and has to meditate before diving into deep bodies of water. She was stressed the hell out when she had to swim the Ruby Sea.
Angered by: Hypocrisy and two-faced people are the things that sets her off completely.
Pet peeves: Obnoxiously loud sounds, when people blow her off or speak rudely but then act nice when they realize who she is, when she’s expected to do everything
Obsessed with: Obsessed with chrysanthemums ever since she was a child and learned botany from her mother, Lucienne. They would often make flower crowns and bouquets together. Every year she waits for late Summer and Autumn to come around so she can go visit the chrysanthemum field near her village
Routines: She doesn’t really have a routine besides harvesting in the early hours of the day and late evenings when she is not on official duty. She goes about her days leisurely when she’s not adventuring.
Bad habits:
She has a hard time saying no to others and can get into tight situations because of it.
Holding in her emotions, even when they’re justified, until she explodes.
Shouldering burdens for others until the point of emotions;/mental fatigue.
Desires: Her biggest desire is to overcome her imposter syndrome and to fulfill her role as Hydaelyn’s Chosen on her own terms. She detests being seen as a weapon and wants to be acknowledged as a capable person who worked their way up to being as strong as she is and not because it was a fate destined by a God.
Flaws:
Blaming herself for others being harmed due to their association with her
Letting her priorities overwhelm her
Shutting herself off from others when under pressure
Quirks: Kadenza likes to talk to the elemental sprites and refuses to kill/hunt them unless necessary. Talking to her furry companions like they're actual people is another trait she has and has been caught on many occasions having “conversations” with her chocobo, Lavitz. She’s lived in the Twelveswood with so much nature surrounding her, she has always been more in tuned with creatures and sprites. She also wrestles with Torgal when no one’s around to stimulate the pup and build their bond.
Favorite sayings: “Time is the longest distance between two places.”
Secrets: When faced with her own mortality, she begrudged Hydaelyn for pushing her so far but was instantly regretful. That night she stayed locked in her room praying to the Goddess and sobbing at her moment of weakness.
Regrets: She regrets that she never confessed her love for Haurchefant before he sacrificed himself for her. Her heart clenches every time she remembers holding his bloody hand as he passed away in Aymeric's arms.
Accomplishments: Kadenza has an extensive list of accomplishments as Warrior of Light, but a personal accomplishment she acknowledges is carrying on her father’s legacy as a Bard. She always comes home to her mother and father recounting the tales of her journey through song. Her village looks to her as their precious jewel.
Memories: She remembers her sister, Kara. Never once forgetting her face or cries when she was captured. It’s been so many years, she can’t even remember her bio parents that well but she remembers Kara as clear as day. It’s a haunting memory and she longed to be reunited with her.
Other notes: Kadenza and Kara were reunited during the Dragonsong War, where she learned that Kara had been watching over her since the moment she came to Dravania. Kadenza had learned that Kara had been shipped away to Kugane and was nearly sold as a child bride but was liberated by an Au’ran tribe who took her in as her own. Kara had later been betrothed to the son of a renowned Au’ran Warrior within the tribe. She became the matriarch of the family and constantly returned to Dravania to look for traces of Kadenza’s survival. Her appearance came during the invasion of the Holy See where she fought side by side with Kadenza to bring down Nidhogg and his fleet of wyrms.
𝒞𝑜𝓂𝓂𝓊𝓃𝒾𝒸𝒶𝓉𝒾𝑜𝓃
Languages known: Although her first language was the Common Language, it was quickly forgotten when she was taken in by her adoptive Elezen family. Elezen became her most fluently spoken language to the point that whenever she speaks the Common Language she has a heavy accent. She is constantly learning Amalj’aan and Sylphic and with the reunion with her sister she’s learning bits and pieces of Au’ran language. She prefers Elezen because it comes more naturally to her and constantly gets confused by certain Hyuran terminology to the point that Thancred pokes fun at her in mock disbelief. She usually has to look to the twins or Urianger to explain (in Elezen) certain sayings in the Common Language.
Preferred communication methods: Speaking and through Epics
Accent: To other races she has the Elezen accent but within the Elezen hierarchy, she sounds a bit unrefined since she grew up in a village. Many scattered Elezen villages share a certain way of speech distinct from City-State Elezen so they are able to identify she’s from a village.
Style and pacing of speech: Her style of speech sounds elegant and concise. She speaks a bit with a drawl but most people think it's charming.
Pitch/tone: She has a warm tone for being so small. It’s neither high nor low.
Laughter: Her laughter is actually deeper than her voice. It’s huskier and radiates warmth like a single ember in a fireplace. Many people say it feels comforting hearing her laugh and usually makes others smile.
Smile: Her smile radiates from her eyes normally but it’s wide and cheerful when she’s singing and dancing. That’s where her smile is the most genuine.
Use of gestures: She usually gestures more when she’s trying to figure out the proper way to say a phrase in the Common Language. Usually scratching her head or rubbing a hand on her cheek when she’s thinking how to express her words.
Facial expressions: Much of her emotions are displayed and noticed through her eyes first. She’s fairly expressive when her emotions are high.
Verbal expressions: She’s known for audible gasps when shocked or sighs when deep in thought.
𝒮𝓉𝓇𝑒𝓃𝑔𝓉𝒽𝓈, 𝒲𝑒𝒶𝓀𝓃𝑒𝓈𝓈𝑒𝓈, 𝒶𝓃𝒹 𝒜𝒷𝒾𝓁𝒾𝓉𝒾𝑒𝓈
Physical strengths: She has excellent stability, focus, and hand eye coordination. Balancing and having a sturdy core is another strength of hers. In order to wield a bow, she was put through tough trials by her father.
Physical weaknesses: She developed a mild case of insomnia when her soul was 8 times rejoined. Many of her dreams consist of lives from the other souls merged with her but her most vivid ones come from Ardbert.
Intellectual strengths: She is wildly creative and enjoys learning about new instruments from other cultures.
Intellectual weaknesses: Arithmetic is a struggle for her and she leaves it to Tataru to handle the numbers side of things.
Interpersonal strengths: Kadenza shows empathy even to those who, in the eyes of others, don't deserve it. She often thinks how she’s not so different from her adversaries who also believe their causes are noble.
Interpersonal weaknesses: She easily internalizes all of her negative emotions and takes on the emotions of others too. She often overwhelms herself and has to step away to recenter.
Physical abilities: She’s a master bowman and never misses a target due to how well her focus and concentration are.
Magical abilities: Her magical abilities work in tandem with healers and tanks. With either the strum of her harp or the whistle of her ocarina she can remove ailments during battle and create strengthening buffs for herself and allies.
Physical illnesses/conditions: NA
Mental illnesses/conditions:
She has imposter syndrome and depression due to being Hydaelyn’s Champion, and having to be the bearer of all burdens of the realm and its citizens.
Her PTSD comes from the death of Haurchefant taking a strike meant for her, and only worsens the more she is sent to the front lines of war.

Character archetype: The Seeker "The Seeker is a force to be reckoned with. This archetype embodies the inner rugged individual who is willing to brave loneliness and isolation in pursuit of new paths"
Character arc: Merging souls with Ardbert has helped her in realizing that she is not alone and that through it all there is always someone standing beside her. Although she is still plagued by mental and emotional anguishes, she’s learning to open her heart more. Not to mention how moved she was at Alisaie’s outburst, she knew then that there were people who cared about her regardless of the fact that she is Hydaelyn’s Champion. Alphinaud and Alisaie choosing to walk beside her along with Ardbert had been what she needed for so long, as she only felt that most interest in her was as nothing but a weapon sharpened for war.
Core values: Remaining as true to herself as possible and shaping her own future the way she sees fit.
Internal conflicts: Allowing herself to be more vulnerable and asking for help when she falters
External conflicts: She struggles with everyone’s over reliance on her and still trying to find balance while not breaking under pressure.
Goals: She’s unsure of her goal right now as she’s constantly pulled in many directions, but she knows that she wants to bring harmony and peace to the realm.
Motivations: Protecting the ones she loves is her motivation and knowing that she is the only one who can do it.

Now Hiring a Sensitivity Reader
So.
We would like to hire a sensitivity reader for the Black characters in our stories.
Since our latest books take place at least part of the time on Earth, our cast for these novels has some diversity that we want to represent well. The ethnicities of background characters are left up to interpretation, but the leads and supporting cast are at least partially described.
We intend to compensate whoever volunteers to work as a sensitivity reader with at least $100 up front per manuscript. We're very limited in income, receiving it as gifts monthly from family and friends, but if you need more than that for the potentially painful but much appreciated effort, we can probably do some kind of payment plan for a while. Do not hesitate to name your price.
If you are qualified and even just want to know more about the characters in question and their roles in the story before offering to do this work, please send us a DM if you don't want to comment here.
At the very least:
The stories are written in first and third person perspective of the headmates of a system whose body/vessel is white, like us. They have a best friend, who is also a system, named Erik, and his boyfriend named Beau, and both are Black. Whether Erik considers the narrator and their system to be one of his best friends is up for discussion. Our goal over the whole series is for Erik and Beau to be an example of a kind of success and to be people the readers can at least root for and feel good for on their own merit, but they also do alternately serve as either a (not "the", "a") driving and critiquing perspective to what the narrators are thinking and doing (switching depending on individual character's moods, and what the scene calls for).
There is one scene where Erik vents about code switching for his various identities and affinities in his support network and family.
Beau mostly shows up later in the first book, and then is there for most of books two and three. He shows some demonstrative passion and frustration in book two.
Other than these two scenes, we do go pretty light on their ethnic backgrounds so far and focus more on what they share in common with the narrators.
Erik and Beau might not get enough page time as it is. It might be too stereotyped. We don't know, and we are eager to shape their stories to be better.
We haven't started writing the third book yet, and are still deciding on just how its plot will evolve, but we are planning on a full half of the pages dedicated to following them as they sail around the world on their own separate story arc. A parallel plot to what the narrator is dealing with at home. If you'd like to give us direct suggestions for that before we start writing it, we can also negotiate rates for that, too.
We are planning on submitting these books to a small traditional publisher, so we might make a little bit of money back on them, but if the publisher turns them down we will self-publish and offer the books for free on our website. We want them to be the best we can craft either way, so our offer for paying you is NOT contingent on that.
The books are first and foremost about being plural, from small to enormously large systems. They are also science fiction mixed with a bit of modern fantasy.
Other subject matter includes: possession, psychosis, fictives, skepticism, disabilities, chronic illness, unexpected violence (including abduction), PTSD, worrying about bigotry, encountering bigotry, found family, questioning reality, telekinesis, astral projection, fear of homelessness, and a short, harsh critique of Terry Gilliam.
Second and third books need a bit more content warning than that.

Name: Ysayle Dangoulain Alias:: Lady Iceheart, Shiva Species: Elezen Height: 6’3 Age: 24 Birthday: First Umbral Moon, 17 (2/19) Gender: Female Orientation: Demisexual Hometown: Falcon's Nest/Tailfeather Occupation: Leader of the Heretic Group
Physical appearance:
Ysayle is an Elezen woman with pale skin, long flowing gray hair, icy blue eyes, and pale blue lips. Unlike the other heretics, she wears a blue jacket with a skirt. This does not change unless she transforms into Shiva or is given other clothing.
Personality:
Ysayle is devoted to her cause in ending the Dragonsong War, going so far as to take the lives of innocents for her goal. Although she is fervent on her ways she is not afraid to learn the truth, and will not back down from her decisions. Though Ysayle at first appears to be the zealous leader of the Ishgardian Heretics that the Holy See branded her as, she only desired to end the Dragonsong War and unite dragon and man in peace. Disdain for the orthodox leadership for propagating a lies to the people, Ysayle is not someone who wants total destruction. She only seeks the truth to be revealed and peace be restored between man and dragon.
Her role as the leader of the Heretics shrouds a lonely soul, as after losing her family and people in an avalanche, Ysayle desired only for the warmth of companionship.
As an idealist for peace and for Ishgard to answer for their crimes against dragonkind, Ysayle often gets into arguments with those who prefer to make war upon their foes.
Originally, Ysayle possessed a deep faith in Saint Shiva, revering her for her sacrifice in bringing peace between Man and Dragon. She even believed herself to be the reincarnation of the woman. Even after her faith is shattered, Ysayle believes that man and dragon can live in peace again.
Story:
Ysayle manifested the Echo at young age. While frightened of seeing visions of a woman and dragons, the Seventh Umbral Era buried her hometown of Falcon's Nest and Ysayle's people sought refuge in Ishgard. They were turned down and everyone Ysayle knew and loved died in an avalanche. She went to Dravania where she met the dragon from her visions, Hraesvelgr, before meeting Marcechamp and making her home in Tailfeather.
Ysayle learned of the nature of her visions as she resolved to restore the peace between her people and the dragons so no child would suffer as she did. Under the name of Lady Iceheart, she gained a following of heretics dedicated to Saint Shiva that became active throughout Coerthas during the Seventh Astral Era. She lead the heretics—those who have pledged their allegiance to the dragons. Denouncing the teachings of the Holy See, she means to end the Dragonsong War. Like the adventurer, she is one of Hydaelyn's chosen.
While rarely appearing, Ysayle makes her presence known when she has the heretics waylaid shipments of crystals, with Alphinaud Leveilleur learning her plan to summon Saint Shiva as a primal, and alerts the Scions of the Seventh Dawn. With the new crisis, the Scions and Crystal Braves join the Temple Knights in infiltrating the Harriers den around Snowcloak.
After encountering the Warrior of Light, Ysayle introduces herself, she states her intention to end the Dragonsong War. Disabled her destination aetheryte, she proceeds to Akh Afah Amphitheatre. Believing she is summoning Saint Shiva's spirit, Ysayle transforms into the primal Shiva. After forced back to her original form, Ysayle condemns the Warrior of Light as a blind fool like those in Ishgard. However, she imparts that she and the Warrior are the same, as they both have “Mother’s (Hydaelyn) gift.”
Ysayle reappears when she and her harriers break the outermost ward of Daniffen's Collar at the Gates of Judgement, but escape when Nidhogg attacks. Ysayle confronts the Warrior of Light at Coerthas Western Highlands and Midgardsormr appears before her, much to her surprise. He tells her that while their goals are the same, their paths are different, and reveals he knows she possesses the echo. She regrets the loss of innocent life in her last attack, having underestimated the rancor in the hearts of the dragons. Ysayle explains the story of the Dragonsong War to the Warrior of Light and why she wants to end it before taking her leave.
In a plan to travel in hope of trying to resolve the matters between Ishgard and Dravania peacefully, Ysayle reveals the story of Saint Shiva and Hraesvelgr and two-hundred long peace that was broken by King Thordan, and that Nidhogg's stolen eye is the cause of the war. Estinien reveals to her the true reason not being just his eye, and Ysayle agrees to take them to Churning Mists where Hraesvelgr has sequestered himself.
Finding their path blocked until the voracious Gnath and their primal god, Ravana, are dealt with, Ysayle accompanies the Warrior of Light and challenges him to a duel to have him order the Gnath to halt their campaign. When Ravana accepts, Ysayle assumes her primal form to engage him in combat. She overestimates her strength and is defeated. Though the Warrior of Light is victorious, her confidence is shaken. The party heads to Sohm Al, regrettably being forced to kill Nidhogg's mate Tioman along the way.
Arriving in the Churning Mists, they find Hraesvelgr who refuses to aid them as Nidhogg's fury will never be sated until every Ishgardian is either dead or converted into a dragon. Though Ysayle attempts to persuade Hraesvelgr by claiming that she is the soul of Shiva reborn, Hraesvelgr laughs off her delusion and reveals the "Shiva" whose form she assumed was nothing more than "a deity of [her] own making." This shatters Ysayle's faith, and she remains behind while the Warrior of Light and Estinien travel to The Aery to confront Nidhogg.
After defeating Nidhogg, the party returns to Hraesvelgr with Ysayle learning the dragon gave his eye to his brother to have his war. Wrecked by this further betrayal, and unable to understand Hraesvelgr's emotions on the subject, Ysayle condemns the dragon for his actions before he orders her to leave while the influence of Shiva's soul allows him to show mercy. Accompanying the Warrior of Light to Ishgard, Ysayle talks the heretics into falling back by revealing Nidhogg's death and the time for the peace they fought for has come.
Having made her peace with Hraesvelgr before he is alerted by Estinien's use of the Eye of Nidhogg, Ysayle rides on the greatwyrm's back to aid the Enterprise when it comes under assault by the Garlean airship Gration. Intent to atone for spilling blood in the name of a "false cause", Ysayle jumps off Hraesvelgr and transforms into Shiva a final time to assault the Gration with Hraesvelgr's dragons as her support. Though she disables the Garlean airship enough for them to stop their pursuit of the Enterprise while her aides are destroyed, Ysayle is blasted out of the sky by cannonfire and falls while reverting to her original form. Dying, she broke up into a luminous, blue aether that spills into the heavens.
When the Warrior of Light and Alphinaud attempt to wrest the eyes of Nidhogg from the armor of Estinien to separate him from the wyrm, a noncorporeal being in the form of Ysayle lays their hand upon Alphinaud's own. The eyes are removed from the armor, presumably with the aid of Ysayle and Haurchefant.
However, due to the souls resonating with the Warrior of Light and the desire to repent for their failings, Hydaelyn gave Ysayle a second chance at life.
Condensing her aether from the Lifestream in a similar manner of that to a primal, Ysayle awoke once more within Dravania, confused and surprised that she could exist. Barely remembering helping the Warrior of Light with the eyes of Nidhogg, it was through her influence that the remaining heretics in the Forelands were sent to Ishgard to lend a hand in the Restoration.
She typically remains in the icy tundra, seeking out other ways to maintain peace, disguising herself when she visits Ishgard.
