so, there's been way too much infighting happening, and frankly a lot of disrespect in general in this fandom, and considering a lot of it is coming from either faceless anon blogs, burner accounts, or what I suspect are new people coming in to tumblr, here's the benefit of the doubt post:

how to tag: Luke, Nic, Polin, Colin, Lukola, Jakola, and Pen edition

tumblr is NOT like other social media platforms. cross tagging things that do not apply to your post generally just makes people upset. there's a very good reason for this: fandoms are communities, and for most people, tags are the community spaces. imagine you're going to the local library (for some people, your only library) and you're looking for a book on dinosaurs. you walk into the section and huh, strange, it's all about meteors? go to the front desk, has the dino section been changed? they take you back to the meteors. not what you're looking for. how about chickens? all well and good, but you want dinosaurs. okay, well, how about the ice age? no, you JUST want a book on dinosaurs. well, they say defensively, they're related. and what are you, anyway? the tag police?

well, first of all, ACAB, so jot that down real fast. but second of all, the outcome of this is that you leave without a book on dinosaurs. . .again. and again. and again.

at a certain point, you will either find that library useless, or you'll get upset.

so, here's the quick guide:

CAVEAT: If something or someone is discussed negatively. USUALLY, the courtesy is not to tag. Use an anti tag instead. Most people in a community do not go to that community to get dunked on. No, it's not discussion. Yes, it's rude. If you're talking about how much you hate apples? Just go to the anti apple tag. You get a community of people who also dislike apples, and if people DO like apples and go to that tag, they know what they're getting themselves into.

Basically, this is the 'don't get invited to a party and then shit in the pool' clause. Unless that party is a shitting in the pool party. In which case, have at it, and leave it in a tag that warns others

I think there would be a lot less issues in this fanbase if people just. . .stayed in their own lanes. This is where most of the tension is coming from. In the Polin days, it was from people making Pen/OC fics and tagging them Polin, obviously looking for eyes and attention from the larger tag, but ultimately upsetting people there for Polin, and now it's people tagging anything and anyONE that has to do with anything in the general cloud of Bridgerton (actors, love lives, etc.) all at once. Lukola and Jakola are different. Luke is not automatically Colin. Nicola in a picture does not warrant a Luke tag. If they're not there, leave them out of it.

Fandom is a community effort. Please have some respect for your fellow fan and tag accordingly. It's common courtesy, it's good practice, and it'll save a lot of headaches in the end.

8. Jeonghan: why do I feel like he wouldn’t even want to fall first? he would need the reassurance that you are in this fr and aren’t just playing around. Once he’s sure about that, he can actually fall in love

9. Vernon: similar thing goes to Vernon for sure. In my eyes he’s definitely someone that would prefer a “natural way of falling in love”. Like a friends to lovers kind of thing, therefore it would take longer for sure

10. Woozi: I think he would really want to but just couldn’t. First of all, obviously because of work (let’s remind ourselves that svt themselves have said that he never leaves the studio) but also, this man has written the most heartbreaking ballads for a reason, so he’ll be very careful about who he chooses to let himself love

11. Hoshi: I feel like he might need you to show him how much you love him in order for him to be able to feel like that too. He cares very deeply but to fall in love, he would need more

12. Wonwoo: he’s way too careful about falling in love to be able to fall in love first

Well...

I learned some PAW Patrol news today that, I must admit, has left me rather disappointed. Don't worry, this isn't a rant or anything. I just wanted to talk a bit about it.

If you were to ask me who my favorite PAW Patrol character is, my answer is obviously Marshall. As for my second-favorite? It's not one of the other main pups or any of the part timers. That's not to say none of them are on my favorites list though, as Chase, Rocky and Everest are in my top ten, just to name a few.

No, my second-favorite PAW Patrol character is... Claw!

Seriously, I just love this doberman. In fact, I became a fan before even getting to see him in action in the cartoon. The moment he first popped up in a leaked Rescue Knights image, I quickly fell in love with his design, especially his awesome-looking armor. That, and he was flying around on a huge dragon, which... come on, that's cool. And when I finally got my chance to watch him in an episode? In my opinion, he did not disappoint. For me, he's not only one of the most memorable aspects of Rescue Knights, but of season 8, period.

Naturally, once the subseries came to an end, I kept hoping that, someday, we'd return to it and see him again. Or, if anything, he'd pull a Sid and Arrby and appear in some regular episodes. Sadly, two and a half seasons have gone by since then, and both he and Rescue Knights have been a no show. Despite that, I held on to the hope that he'd eventually pop up in the cartoon again.

Regrettably, I might have to let go of that hope.

Some of you might doubt this information, but Tybsy has provided many accurate leaks and insider info in the past, and he continues to do so. I've learned to trust his words.

It seems that, for some reason, the writers have been told to avoid pitching ideas for episodes based around Rescue Knights. Worse yet, they were told to do the same with Dino Rescue. Not only does this mean there's a slim chance of seeing Claw again, but possibly even Rex, too... another pup who I'd love to see more in the cartoon.

Now, there's a possible reason for them to do this with Rex and Dino Rescue. Given that a few sites have already started listing the third film with the name "The Dino Movie", it's possible it will indeed be quite similar, at least in some way, to Dino Rescue. It may even involve Rex! Currently, we still don't know for sure, but there have been some hints here and there that suggest he might be involved.

EDIT - I forgot there was another leak some time ago involving some file that relates to the third movie, and the metadata specifically mentioned Rex. There's a very, very good chance he'll be in the movie!

And although Tyby jokes, it is possible, however unlikely, that they do want to avoid creating continuity errors with what we've already seen with Dino Rescue. Just look at the errors we got with The Mighty Movie and the season 10 Mighty Pups episodes, most of which still confuse viewers to this day. If I were running things, I'd absolutely tell the team to make sure that DOES NOT happen again...

Rescue Knights, on the other hand? I see no logical reason to avoid it. I have my doubts that Claw or his dragon will appear in a theatrical film, especially before certain other characters (not impossible, but I wouldn't bet money on it), and I'm going to assume we'll never see him in Rubble & Crew or the two Youtube spinoffs, so... what gives? To make matters worse, now that the main TV series has switched to a new style, they'll have to modify or remake Claw's model to match the new designs, and I can't see that being a high priority. Again, not impossible... but it certainly doesn't help his odds.

My hope of seeing Claw again isn't 100% dead or anything, but I can't help but feel pessimistic about his chances. To think, all this time, it never happened because Rescue Knights has been restricted from appearing in future episodes. That's so disappointing, you know? I can only hope that they do indeed have something special planned someday for Claw, or they'll finally lift that restriction on his subseries... but truth be told, I'm not going to get my hopes up.

Well, here's to you, Claw. Even if we don't see you again, you'll always remain my favorite (ex) knight of Barkingburg! Still, here's hoping that we do get to see you again... someday.

A comprehensive guide to Raptordyne

(This is what my fucking life is I guess)

With a show as incoherently written as Dinosquad there tends to be a lot of guesswork and inconsistent information left for the fans to work with. But not anymore folks! I have scoured the entire show to bring you a comprehensive breakdown of Raptordyne, what it does, who works there, and how it’s built. Let’s get started.

What does Raptordyne do?

The show seems to push the idea that Raptordyne is pretty much exclusively built as a factory for global warming and ooze monsters but that obviously can’t be the only thing happening here.

in the first episode Rodger states that Raptordyne is a biogenetics company and phrase that, like most things in this show, is a vague mush of science-y sounding words. Then in the episode Easy Riders and Raging Dinos we see that Raptordyne owns an animal feed company.

With that in mind it seems safe to assume that Raptordyne is in the agricultural industry more specifically designing GMOs and related products.

Who works there?

Now that we know what Raptordyne does when it’s not making horrible mutants, let’s see who works there. I’m going to go in order from most relevant to least relevant.

Victor Veloci

The main guy, the clown that runs this circus, our leading man, the CEO of Raptordyne. Despite seeing this guy every episode we don’t really get to see him actually doing his human job, we do however know that he spends a lot of time on charity work, thanks to the first episode and the episode Perseverance.

Lieutenant Alpha

A surprisingly unknown character despite showing up in two episodes with speaking scenes the Lieutenant is shown to be in charge of most of the masked grunt force at Raptordyne. Though in his two episodes, Who let the dogs out and Scents and Scents Abilities he is shown to be disliked by Veloci and doesn’t seem aware of the true purpose of Veloci’s work.

Peter

Anyone who knows me also know that this guy is my personal favorite character of all time, despite only showing up in the first episode for 20 seconds. Contrary to popular belief Peter is not actually Veloci’s assistant, his real work lies in the engineering department. He developed nanobots that are supposedly used in primordial ooze and potentially built the robot seen in the episode Wannabe or the hologram dinosaur in Who let the dog out. Peter was injected with primordial ooze however the outcome of that experiment was never seen.

Gregor, Mina, and Robert

I would like to thank the Dinosquad discord server for helping me name these scientists, if you haven’t joined it yet go check it out. These three scientists appear in the background of a few episodes though are never named or given speaking roles. From left to right on the second picture we have Robert, Gregor, and Mina. It is implied in the episode Attack of the Brainasuarus that Veloci works directly with these three to develop prototype ooze.

The twins

These two only appear in the episode Pet Peeve and are the masked grunts working under Veloci for the day. I wanted to point them out not only because they are the only grunts seen without their uniforms but they are also significantly more incompetent than any other grunts seen in the show, thus designating them as their own significant characters.

Workplace Environment

With all our players in place let’s talk about Raptordyne itself. The underground lab seems to be made of one continuous room situated in a cave system underneath the main building. Let’s break it down.

The Entrance

Pictured above is the left end of the cave lab. It’s primarily just Veloci’s ominous skull chair and the entrance elevator (not pictured). This is the area we see the most in the show. What’s interesting about this area is the room over looking the lab just past Veloci’s chair, and the rail tracks cutting through the center of the room, but more on those later.

The Lab

Pretty self explanatory, just across the rail track is the lab where the ooze and mutants are made. The mutants shown in the test tubes are not used in the show but their humanoid shape does imply some sort of human experimentation.

The airlock

On the right side of the lab there is this specialized containment zone. As seen in the episode One Precent Inspiration this area is used for the temporary containment of live specimens and also has an airlock at the top of the containment unit for the release of airborne specimens.

The Greenhouse

Seen only once in the episode Growth Potential this room is what I believe to be in that raised portion of the lab seen in the entrance. This area of the lab is used exclusively for the production and study of mutant plants, a concept that is severely underutilized in the show.

Veloci’s Office

Realized i forgot this originally whoops. Being the influential man he is Veloci obviously needs an office that isn’t in a secret dinosaur lair. This is one spacious office in what looks like the top of the Raptordyne building.

The warehouse

Technically this isn’t a part of the underground lab, nor is it a single building in my opinion. Featured in Scents and Scents abilities we see what is one of possibly many warehouse outposts. Complete with their own security systems and staff.

In the episode it is featured in the place seems to be controlled exclusively by the Lieutenant and masked grunts. So why is this relevant? I propose that the railway seen in the main lab is actually a transit system between the main lab and a network of these outpost facilities.

ASH LYNX – MIND, BODY, AND SOUL 

(tw: discussion/explicit mention of Ash Lynx's past as well as his eating disorder + spoilers for the entire show)

We all know that Ash Lynx disconnects from his body as a coping mechanism to deal with all of the abuse he’s suffered. He also does this in order to brace himself for any incoming violence that he sees coming, such as in prison when he knows that he can’t escape Marvin and his guys. He can even use this disconnect to utilize his body as a tool to seduce others despite sickening him to the core (and in my opinion, scenes in which this happens, are some of the most revolting in the entire show). Disconnecting from his own body has allowed Ash Lynx to survive, it is also however, part of what causes him to feel like an emotionless killing machine.

Ash talks about how his fingers pull on the trigger, how his hands wield the gun and kill people almost like a reflex, without feeling anything, how that makes him a monster and how scared he is of himself. It is obvious to us, that not only isn’t this true, but that he was trained to execute this violence, and was taught to repress any kind of feeling that came with it, which on top of all the violence he endured would be enough to numb someone superficially. Still, it’s really not just that. Ash has had to separate himself from his body in order to survive and not crumble under what it has gone through, and that disconnect has gone so far that his body acts like an entity of its own. He talks about his hands and how they pull the trigger as if it were not the one doing it. Instead, he sees himself kill without mercy almost as if from the outside, terrified of what his body is doing and who that makes him. We can see this not only in the way he talks, but in the several shots of Ash looking at his own hands with fury and disbelief, as if horrified and surprised they are his own. In his dreams, he appears with a knife in his hands, Eiji’s and Shorter’s corpses on the floor, and he screams when he realizes what he’s done, which only happens after he sees the blood on his own hands.

This disconnect, also makes sense in relation to his eating disorder (which is not talked about almost at all). He’s so disconnected from his body and what it needs, that he doesn’t eat enough, and when he does, his body disconnected from his mind, rejects it, causing him to develop anorexia. Of course, his eating disorder is very much intertwined with the abuse he’s suffered, what others do with his body has been completely out of his control for years, food is one of the only things he can control, so restricting himself of it is a mechanism as well. The context in which his anorexia worsens is obviously key, as it is when he return to Dino, and is forced not only to relive his worst trauma, but also to do atrocious things working for Dino and his political schemes. However, I do believe his eating disorder was present before this, as he brags to Eiji about his weight not changing since he was much younger, he mainly eats salads (Eiji even jokingly remarking how strange it is that he doesn’t like burgers) and he jokingly tells Max he doesn’t want to get “fat”, all subtle indications that subconsciously he’s controlling his body and diet to a certain extent. It is with Dino however, that his body completely shuts down, as even Ash expresses that he’s not starving as a form of rebellion or on purpose, he instead genuinely can't consume anything. 

So, throughout the show we can see much of how Ash disconnects from his body both consciously and unconsciously in order to survive, however we also see him reconnect with it: when he’s with Eiji. If we’re talking about food, we can see when Eiji prepares him soup, and Ash remarks that food hadn’t tasted that good in months, or when they go out for hotdogs together, or when Eiji makes sure he eats even the things he doesn’t like. This is one of the ways Eiji helps Ash reconnect with his body, but there are others. One, is the simple act of touch. Eiji hugs Ash a lot, and we can see Ash’s progress as he slowly becomes more accustomed to it, hesitant at first, as if his body is unsure how to respond, to hugging him back, to pulling him close, to crying on his lap and letting him run his fingers through his hair. Through gentleness Eiji shows Ash a form of touch that doesn’t come from violence, and his body begins to adjust as well.

This is partly terrifying for Ash, is what makes him let out so many repressed emotions of guilt, because now that he’s reconnecting with his body and his self, he’s also confronted with the crimes he’s committed with it. Ash can only be his true, normal, 17 year old boy self around Eiji, because his body leaves that state of constant vigilance and resistance and just eases into the rest of him, allowing him to be undivided for once. However, it also because of this new-found ease, that his body begins to recollect everything that has happened, causing Ash to have more nightmares, waking up in cold sweat and crying out for his mother, thing which didn’t happen when he slept around his gang members. It is because of this, that Ash can’t hold it in any longer when he breaks down in front of Eiji as he recounts the first time he was raped, which contains a lot of specific details about how his body felt, about how terrified he was and how he couldn’t seem to find his voice. Curiously, right before he breaks down Ash makes a joke about having to eat Eiji’s food, which I don’t think is coincidental. It’s just as Eiji is joking that Ash’s health is in good hands that Ash breaks down and lies on his lap sobbing as everything catches onto him. It is then all the more heartbreaking when Ash continues to cry and talk about how emotionless he is, the paradox of his words paired with his tears incredibly painful to watch. 

Even with all of this, I think Ash is grateful and his body greatly relieved. He’s eating better, he feels loves, and it’s the first time he feels comfortable in his body around someone since he knows Eiji would never harm him. We can see this verbalized by him the most in 2 conversations with Blanca. The first is when he begs him not to kill Eiji, and then goes one to express how “lucky” he is for having found someone like him, and how it’s the “best feeling in the world”. The fact that he considers himself even remotely lucky is extremely painful to hear, but also demonstrates how much genuine love has changed Ash’s mind and body to the point of being able to smile so fondly, and be “happy”, despite the pain it may also bring. The second conversation with Blanca, is his almost-confession about his feelings for Eiji (or that’s how I personally like to interpret it). In it, he quite literally says that Eiji’s “kindness and warmth” “ran through (his) body”, and once again, I don’t think that’s a coincidence. Eiji’s touch mended his body and heart so that they didn’t have to be in constant battle with one another, making him in Ash’s words “complete”. 

Sadly, as in many tragedies, this healing and warmth is what will eventually lead him to his death, just like Blanca and Yut Lung said it would. When Ash is running to the airport, his body is exactly where his mind is: in finding Eiji and being with him, that’s what matters. So, with his body acting like that of the 17-year-old boy he is, not detached from his self or looking for danger, he doesn’t see Lao coming. He doesn’t realize what is happening until he feels the pain in his chest and looks down in surprise to see the knife. Then, quickly, with the same certainty with which he knows he’s been stabbed, he knows he can’t go with Eiji, that if he does, he’ll only bring danger with him. He comes to terms with all the love he feels for him, but also with all the blood he has shed, and he knows he’s a leopard in the mountains who can’t turn back. So, he goes to the library where he reads Eiji’s letter, which essentially confirms to him that Eiji felt the same way and that what happened was real, it was not waste. He feels all that love and warmth one final time and decides to accept death as it comes, he doesn’t seek it, but he doesn’t run. So, he lays down in a place he loves, feeling loved, and his body and mind are truly reunited to form the “soul” that Eiji is now forever intertwined with.

Howdy folks, I'm a (sorta) new fictionkin. I haven't ever posted anything related to this before, but I wanted to ask a question. HOW DO YOU DEAL WITH YOUR SPECIES DYSPHORIA

For some context, I've recently discovered a new character I kin (Indominus Rex). I'm having shifts often and I'm just- honestly unsure of how to deal with my species dysphoria. The majority of my kins are usually human (OR A LOT CLOSER TO HUMAN THAN THE FRIGGIN INDOMINUS REX) and I'm finding it harder to cope with this species dysphoria. Any advice will be appreciated! As per the rapper's very strict requests the scene was filmed in such a way that her face was not fully visible, only ever showing either her eyes, the back of her body, the lower half of her face, but never her entirely

The credit scenes also showed brief footage of them play fighting on set before he let her throw him onto the couch, grabbing her as she tried to run away in order to tickle her. Since news of their sibling relationship was not announced until 2019, people had many speculations about who this girl was but due to her visibly young age they simply wrote her off as a child actress that had grown close to the members

• When Mingi was feeling down she would bake him small tiramisu portions and sit in silence with him as he ate, often resting on his shoulder as reassurance, so in turns he attempted to make it as well. Due to the very close sister-like bond, Jihyo also learned about it in detail prior to it becoming public knowledge. The only people who really know exactly what happened between her and Yoongi however are J-Hope and V (who overheard the conversation)

• Mingi wrote 'The Letter' using his longing for her - disguising it as nothing more than inspiration from some story he heard - and ironically enough Himari's song was also approved to be in an official album last minute under the name 'All About You'. The rest of these songs are still deep in their hard drives somewhere as neither wanted to have these feelings in the public eye due to this being a sensitive and painful topic

• It's usually Hima that picks things up from the members but one specific thing they began doing subconsciously is her little zoning out habit; whenever she zones out she tends to stick her tongue out a bit and they - mainly Wooyoung and Yeosang - started copying this. When she yawns she usually stretches her arms out in front of her and makes cat paw-like gestures to loosen her fingers and San actually picked up on this - our nyang-teez. While it's not much of a routine, she'll build stone towers to pray for the members' health habitually and seeing that it was very special to her they began doing it too

I'm thinking about Henchman/Goon Reader and their increasingly ridiculous lies they tell their boss and coworkers to cover for the teens (and eventually themself). "The fire alarm malfunctioned and released the safety on the enclosures." "I think someone jammed the gate mechanism, it's not opening and closing properly." "The cameras fritzed out around that time, I'll contact IT to see if there was a connection issue or something." "Uhh...the dinosaurs trampled the fence, obviously" "Josh spilled Dr. Pepper on the control panel and I left to get something to clean it up, no clue what happened." "Janitor forgot to lock the vents, the T-rex must have crawled through the heating ducts." "Um...Mercury was in Retrograde?" Goon!Reader is both the smartest and most skilled employee and the worst employee Raptor Dyne has at the same time. It honestly depends on whether or not they have dinosaurs in their sights/custody.

I imagine that Reader eventually gets caught researching heavily into their dinosaur half to try to learn about themself and gets caught by Veloci himself. Of course that's going to raise suspicion after that specific dinosaur has become a more common sight (are they assisting or hiding the dinosaur? Or could it be something else...?) and Reader very quickly has to come up with some excuse as to why they need to know the specific diet and suspected coloration the dinosaur came in. "It's my fursona!" The quickly excuse themself with. Honestly? Both the best and worst thing they could have said because now the suspicion is gone but also they then had to explain fursonas to their very intimidating boss and you just know it got back to their coworkers. They're never living it down.

Reader is trying to save those kids collective *sses, and they're about to scream from how obvious it is that the same five kids who show up all across the globe are probably the dinosaurs or in cahoots with them!!! Are they the only person with intuition here?!

Ugh... that makes keeping them safe easier, they suppose... but d*mn it, being the smartest person in the room is annoying sometimes...

Having to try and look up their own dinosaur species led to a rather... awkward... conversation with their boss about what a fursona is, what the furry community is, and that yes, some dinos were really well-liked and adored by humans, so they're probably pretty chill if he needs any humans to spare (Hint. Hint.) Seriously though, now the entire lab workforce thinks they're a weird kid who watched too many old dino films (Jurassic Park was their first horror movie, sue them! It had DINOS, eating HUMANS. What isn't scarier, when now that IS their reality with their boss being an ancient evil raptor?!)

Oof. They have to rein it back in. Suffice to say, now their boss wants to join the furry community, and they are way out if their depth. Blazing stars, maybe they should have said therian...

(At least the kids are safe... but well... they aren't. Especially since they're able to turn into... some small, raptor thing... now if these files could just help them narrow it down to which species it is, they can at least know what to expect... And why their thoughts feel mushy around the kids and their boss and that odd teacher near the kids...)

Okej så...det är typ en månad sen jag såg "Jönssonligan kommer tillbaka" igen och sedan dess så har jag sätt den ganska många fler gånger, så jag tänkte dela med mig lite snabbt av mina åsikter som en liten uppföljare till min förra post

Först och främst. Vanheden och Dino. NI FÖRSTÅR INTE! När jag såg den för första gången efter premiären så var min första reaktion att de hade MYCKET mer tension än vad jag mindes. Alltså jag kom obviously ihåg att det fanns tension men SÅ MYCKET. Jag är fortfarande i shock. Alltså den scenen när de sitter i bilen runt mitten av filmen. VA!? DET ÄR SÅ OBVIOUS ATT DET FINNS NÅGOT MELLAN DEM. Också att de säger att det är "bästa vänner" när de har känt varandra i typ en dag. Jag tror inte BFF är det rätta sättet att beskriva eran relation. Okej det får räcka för min Vanheden x Dino rant.

En till liten grej jag vill nämna är, något som @julivea upplyste för mig, Sickan och Rigmor. I vanliga fall brukar jag anse att Sickan är aroace men i detta fall tycker jag faktiskt att det finns något att utveckla mellan dem. Det finns verkligen typ enemies/rivals to lovers vibbar mellan dem. Men alltså "GRANNARNA"!!

@yasammyweek Ok I guess this is a thing that exists, so I'm gonna contribute to it. Today's theme is a wedding, so I'm gonna write something that relates to that. This kinda caught me off guard but I'm gonna try my best. Enjoy

It has been about 8 years since Yaz and Sammy had "officially" gotten together, If you ask them they'll say they started REALLY dating after they made it back home, an agreement they made when they were still stranded on Mantacorp Island, in case either one (or both) of them hadn't made it, but basically everyone else agrees it was after they both brought their feelings to light. Either way it had been about 8 years, but for the past week, Yaz had been acting a little....skittish.

Yazmina was a woman of focus, commitment, and sheer flipping will. She had survived almost a year on an island full of dinosaurs, while having a sprained ankle for two of those months. She had faced down the Scorpius Rex, the Mosasaurs, and a really ticked off Galimimus (long story, but the dino had it coming). After all that, the almost dying nearly every day, why on gods green earth would a small wooden box with a diamond ring inside make her so nervous. She wouldn't even be the one receiving it, but the conclusion this poor nervous girl came to, is that the reaction of the person she wanted to give the ring to was what caused her nerves to shoot up. What would Sammy do? Cry, laugh, run, say no? All these possibilities were making Yaz more nervous than it would if she just asked Sammy the damn question "Will you marry me?". There's no reason for her to be this nervous right? I mean, the two of them have already been as intimate as you can get with another person, multiple times, so there was no grand surprise afterwards, no pressure to hold up to any "expectations" except of course actually showing up for the wedding....the wedding, the music, the people, the dresses, all the things that weddings involved made Yaz feel even more nervous. She had always considered herself the quote-un qoate "man" of the relationship, and as such she felt it necessary to perform the usual "man" rolls, she opened the doors to restaurants and vehicles for Sammy, made sure Sammy's truck was safe before she drove somewhere, and besides all that, had always gotten along better with Sammy's father, brothers, and nephews, than she had her mother in law, sister in laws, and nieces, though they all still got along well, but she had always found herself gravitating towards the guys, and had actually went to Sammy's father for advice on what to do for their first official date. But unfortunately, with Yaz fulfilling that role (that she was perfectly happy in, Sammy as well), that means it was up to her to propose. Great 😑.

Not really sure what to do, Yaz had chosen to try and distract herself from the thoughts racing in her head by going to lunch with Darius, Brooklyn, and Ben. Sammy was working and couldn't go, but insisted Yaz go and give them all a hug for her, which she had. As they sat down, the rest of the group noticed Yaz looked a little down, not that she was super bubbly to begin with, but she usually had more energy than this.

B: Yaz, are you ok?

Y: Yeah....I'm fine.

(obviously not fine)

D: Yeah sure, ok skip the BS and tell us what's up so we can help.

B: Dude, a little sensitivity would be nice.

D: What? She obviously has something that's bothering her, I'm just trying to figure out what?

B: Yeah but you can't just ASK, what if it was something sensitive?

Ben: Sensitive..... something kinda like a....ring...maybe?

Ben looked over at Yaz, who was now staring at Ben. And he instantly regretted it, Yaz had tears in her eyes, her cheeks red, and trying to compose herself as to not have a breakdown in the middle of a shopping mall food court. Yaz reached into her pocket, pulled out a small wooden box, and slid it across the table.

Y: Yeah, it's a ring. But I don't need it, it's not like I'd ever have a possibility of using it anyway....so take it.

She wiped her eyes and took a shaky breath and put a 20 on the table, asked them to pay for her food, and went to her car to go home.

Yaz made it to her truck, but didn't open it. Hand on the handle she looked at the reflection in the window, and it was a sad, sorry sight. Red in the face, tears running down her cheeks, crying like a 5 year old that had just broken her toy. What was she supposed to do? Go back to Sammy, the person that made her so happy, and dump all this on to her? And that's when the realization struck Yaz like a horse hoof to the chest, the reason Yaz didn't want to propose, wasn't because she didn't want to spend the rest of her life with Sammy, it's that she didn't want Sammy to be stuck with her. She's always been self conscious about herself, and in some ways that's a good thing, keeps a person humble, but it also can be a real pain for self esteem. Would Sammy WANT to be stuck with her for the rest of their lives, till death does them part? Why would someone like her, a beautiful, intelligent, friendly, girl from Texas want to spend the rest of her life with an introverted, relatively speaking average looking, sad nerd like her? There wasn't one, at least not one that Yaz could think of. So, she decided she wouldn't propose, and wouldn't put that burden on Sammy, so if at any time Sammy wanted to leave, she could. As corny as it sounds she'd rather Sammy be happy without her, then sad with her.

Yaz hadn't realized how long she had been standing with her hand on the truck handle, hadn't realized how long she had been crying, and hadn't realized how long her friends had been standing there, until Brooklyn had very gently put her arm on Yaz's shoulder, and was looking at her with so much concern that it almost made Yaz start crying again, but even if she wanted to, she couldn't, she was all dried up.

B: Yaz, we're so sorry, we didn't mean to push, we were just worried about you. I wasn't going to say anything, but the whole reason we came down was that Sammy was concerned about you. She said you'd been acting sad and wanted us to get you out of the house to see if you'd feel better. She's really worried, she was actually starting to think you had gotten tired of spending so much time around her.

Y: What? No, I....I didn't mean...I could never.....

B: Yaz, please tell us what's the matter, all we want to do is help you.

So Yaz did, Yaz told them EVERYTHING, every insecurity. All the hopelessness and sadness came out in one big, frankly depressing, story (including everything she said in her head, read above). At the end, Yaz was just sitting sadly on the tailgate of her truck, her friends sitting with her, looking for lack of a better term, dumbfounded and sad. They had all known Yaz had insecurities, who didn't, but they had no idea it ran so deep.

Y: So that's why I can't propose. I care about her, and I care enough to let her go.....I don't want to but.....

Ben: Yaz, kinda crazy question here, but have you... Idk......maybe mentioned ANY of this to Sammy, at all? Do you have any idea if she wants to get married?

Y: No, but I don't want to burden anything on her. And why would she want to marry ME anyways?

Nobody had noticed the black car that had pulled in the parking lot an hour before, and nobody had noticed the driver sneaking over and hiding behind the car beside them, listening to Yaz's entire story, every word since Brooklyn, Darius, and Ben had come out to comfort their sad friend. And nobody noticed the Texas girl hiding behind some strangers car, trying her best not to cry, and wanting to do nothing else but hug not just the girl she's been dating for 8 years, but her business partner, her other dog mom, and her best friend. But the little Texan girl couldn't stand it any longer and decided to set the record straight.

Sam: Yazmina Fadoula, are you kidding me?

Sammy stepped out from behind the car she was hiding behind, and gave a heart attack to the entire group sitting on the tailgate. Yaz started to get up but Sammy in no uncertain terms gave her a look that said sit back down......Yaz sat back down.

Sammy: So let me get this straight....the reason you've been acting depressed all week, the reason you come to bed later and wake up earlier than normal, why you aren't eating as much and acting super shy, is because you wanted to propose? And was worried I would laugh in your face, or reject you, or not want to be with the girl that I've been with for 8 years??

Y: Um....yes? Look it's not you Sammy, it's me...I was just....

Sammy: Oh I know, I heard the whole conversation, basically everything. I came her to pick up some food to surprise you, and I see you crying and looking at the truck, you didn't even see me drive by. I was gonna talk to you, but I saw them coming over to you, and figured they'd be better at getting you to open up.....guess I was right. I'm gonna be honest Yaz, why didn't you talk to me? We're a team, you're supposed to be able to trust me, and I know that's selfish that I just WANT you to trust me, but we've known each other for almost 10 years, even before we started dating......is it me? Am I driving you away, am I being too over bearing, I just wanted to help you, I didn't mean to be too much.

Now Sammy was crying, and Yaz felt like the world's biggest a**hole, beating herself up internally for not thinking about how this would affect Sammy. She knew Sammy was sensitive, and tuned into people's emotions, so she definitely knew Yaz was upset, but wanting to respect her privacy, hadn't pushed the issue. Yaz felt awful.

Sammy: You know the worst part about this, Yaz? This entire time I was scared you were getting sick of me....I thought you were seeing someone else.

Well if Yaz thought she couldn't feel any worse, she just got proven wrong.

Y: Sammy.....you thought that.....why would....

Sammy: What? See someone else?.....Yaz I heard everything you said, and the entire time I was wondering the same thing you were. Wondering why you'd want to be with ME? I'm just some yee-haw Texan rodio, banjo playing, chubby, middle of nowhere farm girl and there's a million girls just like me within like 20 miles of just like me, except prettier and cooler. I was scared to death that the only reason you were with me is because we were stuck on the island and once you had more people to choose from.....you'd leave. Yasmina I would LOVE to marry you, of course I would, but I still don't really understand why it'd be ME you'd pick out of everyone else. You're beautiful and smart and ACTUALLY talented, you have skills that are actually cool and unique, unlike me who can do farm things yeah, but so can everyone else.

Yaz sat with her mouth hanging open, in awe of that one, her girlfriend had the same insecurities she had, and two, that Sammy thought of herself like that. Yaz couldn't understand why the girl she was so worried about proposing to had never brought these issues up to her before. Yaz decided there and then that damn the consequences, whatever her future had in store for her, Yaz was going to make sure Sammy never had to worry that Yaz would leave her again. She walked up to Sammy and kissed her, a long kiss full of love and warm feelings that made butterflies fly in both of the girls chests.

Y: Sammy, I'm so so so so so so so sorry that I EVER made you worried about me leaving, ever made you feel insecure about yourself. With our friends and God as my witness I will do everything I can to make sure you never feel like this again. Brooklyn.......can I have my ring.

Sammy opened her eyes wide, Ben and Darius gasped and Brooklyn smiled as she handed Yaz the ring.

Y: With this ring I promise to be with you forever, for every sad day, when it shines, rains, or snows. Through every up and down, left or right, whatever happens I want this ring to symbolize how much I care about you... Sammy Gutierrez, can I put this ring on your finger.

Everyone was crying now, their friends, and some random people in the parking lot.

Sammy: Of course you can, but I have one request......Don't call me Gutierrez anymore.....it's Fadoula now.

Yaz smiled, slipped on the ring, and grabbed Sammy by the hips and hoiseted her up off the ground so they could look at each other, Sammy's legs wrapped around Yaz's hips and her arms rested on her shoulders. The parking lot whistled and hollered, horns honking and lights flashing to celebrate the couple.

Sammy: Hey Yaz?

Y: Yes Sammy?

Sammy: I think the chicken thawed in the back of my car.

Everyone laughed, and Brooklyn, Darius, and Ben all drove home with Sammy and Yaz to stay the night. Brooklyn was thankful that Yaz had soundproofed her and Sammy's bedroom wall, and Yaz kept her promise and made sure that Sammy knew every bit of her was as beautiful to Yaz as anything else.

They went to the town office the next day and made it official, and Sammy bought Yaz a ring.

It's Power Rangers Infinity!

= For those who haven't seen the previews: our main character, Lola! She's cute, I like her a lot; even if admittedly BOOM has really been dishing out the Green Ranger girls one after another lately. (As for her last name being Navarro.....put in a pin in that for a second. Unfortunately it doesn't go where you might think it goes.)

= Obviously there's no way to prove it but moments like this kiiiiiind of feel like this was written back when BOOM figured they were finished with the PR license. It's a little too on the nose

= GIRL YOU LOOK SO GOOD

= Though I am a little annoyed because her lines here about looking for Lola for a long time made me think my theory that she was targeting her because she was related to Tyler/Shelby (or Poisandra just THOUGHT she was) was real. Unfortunately Lola's last name being Navarro isn't at all relevant (she targets Lola because she overhears that she writes PR fanfiction, so she wants Lola to make a weak team she can beat, it's a whole thing) so I guess in the end it was just an Easter Egg. I guess it's not too much of a surprise as this is set in "our" world rather than the Dino Charge world, but still, if you were going out of your way to pit a Dino Charge villain against a main character with the same last name as a Dino Charge character, you'd think that was leading up to something

= Obviously as this is a one-shot book making gags out of the concept of "unlikely character archetypes as Power Rangers" the Infinity team members don't have the most complex personalities, but it's vital for you to know that the Pink Ranger, Penelope Prescott, is a lesbian. Anyway hot bear time

= I literally went into this book thinking the polar bear (Coach Kumo) would end up being a joke one-note "haha is that an ANIMAL as a ranger??" a la Yale but he actually ended up being my favorite character so uh. Yeah. Power Rangers Infinity did the whole "animal ranger" thing better than the main series. Make of that what you will

= And a look at the other teams. And okay, I'm just going to come out and say it; we did canonically have a pirate team in the show. I KNOW THEY DIDN'T DO PIRATE STUFF BUT I DON'T CARE, THEY STILL EXISTED, IT'S NOT AS OUTLANDISH AS THE HOCKEY BEAR UNIVERSE

= I do have to admit, for as much as this book tries to joke about how Poisandra isn't a threat and can't find a team weak enough for her to defeat, they're pretty casually talking about how she's basically committing mass genocide. Like their teams/universes are literally dead. I think that counts as beating them

Darius;

I'm sadly a tad disappointed. He wasn't changed, persay, but I'm sooo upset he didn't spout One Single Dino Fact! Obviously he's not a kid anymore, I expected them all to grow up and change a little, but he felt very, lacking. I get it, he was depressed and guilty about Brooklyn, but I feel like there were times he could have shined through his old light. My favorite scene was when he was in awe of the glowing Saurolophus's. It's so boring that they gave him a crush on Brooklyn, can they not think up any new plot ideas?

Kenji;

He, Yaz, and Sammy are all tied with best, good character progression. He's still the same guy who wouldn't abandon his camp fam when push came to shove, and his breakdown when his dad died was a new peak for this show to top on giving me emotions. (I literally made a sad/sob noise when he said father in his native tongue, proving once again how much he longed to impress the dirtbag that didn't deserve him.) Every moment he had with Darius made me crave more, I long for flashbacks of the Bowman family. Also, him punning his name is my new favorite thing, I demand at least one Kon pun a season now, please and thank you

Ben;

Love his energy, as usual, he had some of the funniest moments easily and I'd cry too if someone was abusing my dino! I can't believe he left Bumpy behind twice!!

Yammy;

While I give slight credit they didn't do a breakup/ back together thing, it feels like they almost did, but since we don't know how long they spent not speaking I'm going to pretend this was a recent development and Ben and Darius just dropped on the tail end of it. As said above with Kenji, I appreciate they kept their characters consistent and progressed previous storylines without making them feel like whole new people. Regardless, happy they're still together and just being the best life goals for a partner

Brooklyn;

I'd honestly hoped they had the guts to really kill her. It would have given the show a much more dangerous feel than they'll ever manage now, and I'm sooo looking forward hearing what her great plan was for not telling the others she's alive. She was always my least favorite and least relatable and I appreciated her not even being in this season and I hope they draw this out as long as possible so I don't have to deal with her
