The television host across from him Nods placidly, with just the slightest smile. The lighting, and the set, and cutaways, All make it seem impossible to doubt His words or deeds or hopes for all mankind.

But, still –

Perhaps it was like Santa Claus, you know, A pretty fable Mother told to me, To soften life’s hard edges for my sake, When she had said that dignity was mine – For me, alone, to squander or to keep.

But now I’ve learned the gray and dreary truth: Whatever makes me worthy of esteem Is held completely in the public trust Revocable without recourse or right, When strangers, in disgust, avert their eyes.

Your biblically accurate Haymitch is everything to me, he's my fave character! If you ever wanted to make me cry and take an elaborate request, I'd love to see your take on Haymitch remembering his family/his girl in a half-drunken haze. Or even his devastation after the announcement of the Third Quarter Quell and he's remembering snippets of his Games while drunk at his kitchen table! :'(

sometimes. i think about dividing myself into halves then quarters and then eighths down down down down down down down until there's nothing that can possibly be divisible and i'm nothing more than a forgotten speck unseen to the eye and then i want all of that nothingness to be shattered — just in case — so that i will never ever be able to come crawling out of or from it again.

I wish less people would focus on talking about fat people not being inherently unhealthy (technically true, but frankly not applicable to the vast majority of cases) and instead focus on how someone’s health is a) their own fucking business b) NOT GROUNDS FOR A TOTAL LOSS OF BASIC DIGNITY

Sometimes I wonder why I can be both kind and stupid at the same time, especially when it comes to someone who mistreated me. It's perplexing how my heart can still hold onto kindness, even in the face of mistreatment and disrespect. Perhaps it's my inherent belief in the goodness of people or my desire to see the best in others.

But as I reflect on this, I realize that my kindness should never be mistaken for weakness. It takes strength and courage to be kind, even when it's not reciprocated. However, I must also recognize my own worth and establish boundaries to protect myself from those who take advantage of my kindness.

I'm learning that being kind doesn't mean tolerating mistreatment. It means being compassionate towards others while also valuing and prioritizing my own well-being. So, as I continue on my journey, I'll strive to be kind to myself first and foremost. I'll surround myself with people who appreciate and reciprocate the kindness I offer, and I'll remember that I deserve to be treated with respect and dignity.
