I just need to vent a bit
Tw: car accident mention.
So here's a series of events.
At 16, my mom tells me I should get a driver's license and that my step-dad will teach me over the summer break. Okay, cool.
No one explains to me how that works until the summer is over and no driving lessons happen. When I ask why, I'm told 'well, you never read the driver manual'.
I thought it was going to work like a textbook in class, where we read a bit, practice a thing in the manual, read some more, and so on. Again, up until this point, all I knew about getting my license was that I was legally able to start practicing driving, and at a certain point, there would be a test that I have to pass to get my license.
Throughout the rest of my high school career, it becomes obvious that even if I DID have a license, it wouldn't be possible for me to actually USE it. At any given moment, neither of the household vehicles would be accessible to me. Plus, my city allows students to use public transport for free, so I just didn't see the point.
Anyway, after graduation, I move in with my bio-dad and continue using public transport to get to and from work. His car breaks down, so he goes to buy a new one, bringing me along to 'make sure we pick a car that the whole family likes' (looking back, I think he really only brought me along to use me).
He finds a car for $3500 and decides to buy in cash. Using my money.
He promises to pay me back, and that the car will be mine one day, once he gets a vehicle of his own. Good deal, I think.
We move cities, and the car breaks down after 5 months.
A family friend gifts us an old car, which breaks down within 3 months.
Same family friend gifts us a SECOND car, which is an absolute trooper, tbh. This is a Buick Sedan.
My Uncle offers to pay for driving lessons, so I head off to drive school, which is mostly online, due to Covid. I get 6 hours drive time with the school, everything else must be done at home. All the people I can drive with are either
A) Too busy
B) Extremely anxious/extremely road-ragey
I do not obtain my license at this point.
My father's behavior declines from neglectful to outright abusive, and I move in with my Uncle, who gives me one year to move out.
I find a full-time job and work my butt off, saving every penny I can. In the meantime, he practices driving with me. He tells me I need to be more confident, but I am doing so SO well, and I'm a great driver!
Hooray!
Except, then I make a mistake. I turn right on a red light (which is legal, and actually very common where I live). Nothing happens, no one is hurt, no vehicles are damaged, and we proceed with the drive like normal.
Once we get back to the house, all previous praise immediately dissolves, and Uncle tells me I am simply 'not ready' to get my license. He refuses to drive with me anymore because I 'ran a red light', which 'absolutely mortified' him.
I spend the rest of the year riding my black bicycle to work in the dark in an area with no sidewalk, bike lane, or street lights.
I get my own apartment and move out, continuing to bike to work. When I need groceries, I ask a friend to take me to the store. It's not great. It's not ideal, but it works.
I do keep moving forward with my license, first practicing with my mom, and then my step-dad.
I get a better job offer in another city. One that's too far to bike to, so I use this as motivation to finally get my license.
I got my license about 2 weeks ago. I bought a beautiful little Prius using my savings, and brought her home the day before Halloween.
Everything is going great!
I drive to a friend's house a week later, and we talk about how great things are going! I've elevated my adult freedoms. I'm starting a new job with fantastic career opportunities. I have a car that I absolutely love.
We talk about how I've worked so. Hard. To get here, and how it was all worth it.
And then.
And then, on my way home, I get T-boned. No one is hurt, but my car...
My lovely Domino's passenger side airbags all go off. Her back passenger door is crumpled in on itself, and idk if they're going to be able to save her.
My insurance company hasn't finished the evaluation, or determined fault yet. They also don't cover rental vehicles.
I start my new job tomorrow morning, and I have no vehicle, and no money to buy a new vehicle. I bought the Prius with the intention of keeping her for the long-haul. I planned to baby her, keep her for 10 years or more.
I had her for one. Week. Exactly.
I am just. So tired. I feel like giving up.
I worked so freaking hard for YEARS to do this, and it's all gone in an instant. In the months leading up to this, I was dreaming about the adventures I'd have in my car. We were going to go to the beach, travel the US and see all the National Parks, collecting a pin/sticker from each one, maybe drive up to Canada, or down to Mexico! Finally make use of that Passport I've had for 5 years! I put together a watercolor palette and bought a sketchbook SPECIFICALLY to use on our travels!
Domino and I were going to do SO MUCH together.
And now she might be gone before we even got the chance.
None of this even feels real. It's almost like I just DREAMED I had a car. But I know I didn't make it up, because I have pictures, and I have her paperwork, and my actual card license came in the mail last night.
Honestly, I'm heartbroken. I'm not sure how to move forward now. Obviously, keep working with the insurance company and stuff, but like.
I keep giving my all, and my all keeps not being good enough.

𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐠𝐢𝐨𝐮𝐬 𝐩𝐨𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 || soft!dark baron zemo x reader
𝐬𝐮𝐦𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐲 : he’s a baron, you’re just the maid.  you literally can’t afford to say no to him.
𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐝 𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐭 : 3.5k
𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐬 : smut (dubcon, oral m receiving, fingering, loss of virginity), innocence kink, ‘sir’ kink, quid pro quo harassment (raise in exchange for sex), zemo being kinda mean but then Soft again c:, slight degradation but it’s not verbal it’s like... with actions?? idk, sensual candy-feeding, more reconstructed sokovian (this time I used the cyrillic, latin and translations at the bottom)
Tumblr media
You really, really needed this job.
That was what you reminded yourself when your boss, the Baron himself, came out of the master bathroom in only a robe, carrying a glass of vodka and staring down at where you were cleaning his floor.
He seemed to get a kick out of making you slightly uncomfortable like this, in those little ways that you were too naïve to really understand, but being a member of a Baron’s house staff was an opportunity too prestigious to squander.
Perhaps some would never see a maid’s job as prestigious, but compared to your other options, it was easily the best choice.
You didn’t look back up at him, afraid to see more than you bargained for, but his gaze made you want to tug down on the hem of your dress uniform… yet left you feeling paralyzed so you couldn’t actually do it.
He lingered there, standing right beside where you were polishing the hardwood, and the moment lasted far too long until you just had to say something.
“Should I stop, sir?” you asked awkwardly, your own voice sounding weaker out loud than it did in your head.
“No, keep cleaning,” he encouraged, finally stepping around you to take a seat in his lounge chair.
Even though you felt a bit odd about it, it wasn’t the first time he had watched you clean (just the first time while wearing so little), so you did your best to shrug it off and keep going, which you managed to do for a few minutes.
It got slightly more awkward when the area you had to clean was right by his feet, which made his staring all the more conspicuous as you tried to hold up your neckline so he couldn’t see down the uniform.
A crinkling sound caught your attention, and you looked up to see him toying with a wrapped candy, the lid off of the decorative silver vase on a credenza nearby.  You’d always wondered what he kept in there...
He caught you looking, a smirk tugging at his lips as he raised an eyebrow.  “A Turkish delight,” he explained as he waved the candy between his fingers.  “They’re rather exquisite, and an unfortunate vice of mine.  Would you like one?”
It seemed like an offer in earnest though you couldn’t imagine what would motivate him to share candy with his staff.  His motives were always quite mysterious anyhow, and you didn’t see any harm in it, so you reached out to him and opened your palm to accept the candy.
He shook his head, his eyes getting a bit darker as their gaze pierced right through you.  A sinking feeling filled your gut as you realized what he wanted, and you slowly opened your mouth.
He delicately placed the candy on your tongue, the flavor of the powdered sugar coating hitting you first.
When you closed your lips and hesitantly began to sink your teeth into it, the texture wasn’t what you expected at all— nor the flavor, which you were a little too poor to recognize as rosewater though you still appreciated the delicate floral notes.
It was delightful; you couldn’t help but smile as you continued to chew, and he smiled at you as well— significantly less mischievously than he could have.  “Do you like it?” he asked.
You nodded, but froze when he reached up to wipe sugar off your lips with his thumb.
“I suppose you could never afford candy like that before,” he posited, sitting back again.
Swallowing the sticky remains of the sweet, you replied, “I don’t think I could afford it now, either, sir…”
For a second the glimmer in his eye made you wonder if you’d spoken out of turn, and you anxiously looked down to your hands in your lap as he leaned in a bit closer, speaking in a hushed tone.  “Maybe you could, if you got a raise, hm?”
Confused about what he wanted from you, you simply nodded slightly.
“Would you like to earn one?”
Suddenly the aftertaste wasn’t so sweet anymore, and you got that strange icky feeling when you knew something was wrong but you didn’t know exactly what.  “If… if a raise is a sign of a job well done,” you finally managed to form an answer, “then I’d like to do my job well, sir.”
“You do your job very well,” he assured, “I’m talking about a new job.  Consider it… an opportunity for advancement.”
His hand reached down to slip around your wrist, gently pulling you up a bit until you were kneeling between his legs.  You jumped a bit when your fingers grazed over his leg, and he kept moving your touch higher as he stared down at you.  “I… um, don’t know how to do anything else, sir,” you stalled, heart racing slightly as you watched him guide your hand higher and higher up his leg, under the hem of the fluffy robe, past where you could see.
“I’ll teach you, don’t be afraid,” he whispered right against your ear, and you tried not to be but it was a bit scary when you felt him wrap your hand around his cock, so much warmer than the rest of him and growing harder in your palm.
A little, uneven exhale left your mouth when you didn’t mean it to, and he breathed along with you which helped to calm you slightly.  “I’ve never… I don’t…” you stammered.  “I’m not good at this.”
“You will be, it just takes practice,” he promised, sounding a bit more hoarse; you felt his precum smear over your fingers as he helped you stroke him, and it made your movements a little easier even if it made your gut twist harder.
He leaned back and relaxed in the chair, letting go of your hand to let you keep going on your own.  It gave you a bit more room to breathe, but it left you with no excuse for your actions, no one else to blame when his legs spread and you saw his cock fully hard in all its pride and glory, flexing slightly in your hand whenever you reached the tip and moved back down.
Taking it as a sign you were on the right track, you kept going and occasionally gathered the bravery to look up at his face in search of approval.  Each time you found him staring back at you with dark eyes, and it made you feel this most inexplicable feeling… almost like fear, but with something oddly pleasurable about it.
“You can use your mouth now,” he said like it was an offer, an allowance, but you didn’t even really know how to do that.  You’d definitely heard about it before, from your more worldly friends, but your cheeks were heating up at the idea of trying and doing it totally wrong.
“Show me how, sir, please,” you requested weakly, and much to your relief he grinned widely.
“Okay, кошеня, I’ll show you,” he breathed, reaching up to cradle your face in his hand and guide you closer.  “Open your mouth and I’ll put it in for you.”
You did as you were told even though it was definitely more intimidating this up close, thankful that you didn’t really taste much of anything when he put his swollen head on your outstretched tongue.
“Now close your lips and suck, not too hard, just like a candy,” he explained, hissing when you did your best to recreate what he said.  You pulled back right away with wide eyes, thinking you might have hurt him.
“Am I doing it right?” you asked quickly.  He seemed a bit irritated as he pulled you back down roughly, pushing his cock deeper into your mouth.
“Yes, you can’t stop until I tell you,” he explained.  You wanted to apologize but that would’ve required stopping, too, so you just kept going and humming a bit whenever you tasted that slight saltiness at the back of your throat.  “Блять, that’s right, see?  I knew you’d be a quick learner.”
Happy to hear you were doing it properly, you sucked a bit harder and kept your lips slack so he could bob your head however he wanted.
When the tip bumped into the back of your throat, you gagged right away and figured you were definitely doing something wrong.  But either he didn’t notice or didn’t mind, because he made you do it again and again— perhaps he even liked it, considering you heard a tense groan from above you and felt him hold your face a bit tighter.
“I’m going to come, кошеня,” he grunted, “and you need to swallow it all, okay?  It’s worth a lot more than that expensive candy, I assure you.  But don’t swallow it until I say so.”
You tightened your fingers where they clutched his thigh, since you couldn’t respond any other way.  Not being able to breathe was beginning to make you light-headed, and the sounds of his quiet moans made a rare (but not entirely unfamiliar) feeling burn between your legs.
He swore a few more times, sometimes in English and sometimes in Sokovian, as he roughly used your mouth, and you didn’t realize he was coming until you felt it all threatening to spill out from your lips and around his member.
But you, being diligent as ever, were careful not to let a drop go to waste as he sighed and slowed down, guiding you slowly off of him.
As tempting as it was to swallow it already, especially since the taste was a little odd, you kept your lips sealed tight and blinked up at him, hoping the tears running down your cheeks wouldn’t bother him and waiting for further instruction.
“Open your mouth, show me,” he breathed, nostrils flaring as if he was angry (though you really hoped he wasn’t).  He groaned proudly when you did so, sticking your tongue out and letting his seed gather there.  “Блять, good job… you can swallow it now.”
You put your tongue back and swallowed, but you were a bit too slow and some of it dripped onto the floor first.  He leaned forward slightly to look at it, tutting disapprovingly.
“That just won’t do, you need to clean that up,” he explained.  You turned back to reach for your cleaning supplies but a hand on your shoulder stopped you.  “No, sweetheart, not like that.  With your mouth, same way you made the mess..”
“Oh,” you whispered, leaning down and lapping up the drops with your tongue, noticing that it was a bit closer to room temperature now which made it taste worse such that your nose crinkled at the flavor.  Still, you swallowed it, too, and sat back up to look at him.
You wanted to ask if you did well, but considering the way he was smiling at you while he caught his breath, his exposed chest rising and falling along with that necklace he seemed to wear all the time, made you confident enough that he was happy with your work, and you smiled slightly.
“I think you’ve almost earned your raise,” he broke the silence, and your smile fell.  There’s more?!  “Why don’t you get up and bend over the bed.”
Your throat was a little sore now, so your shocked and empty swallow stung a bit, but you couldn’t help it; for all your inexperience you had a few ideas about what that meant.
“Sir, I—”
“Did I not speak clearly?” he snarled, making you cower slightly.  “Get up.  And bend over the bed.  Pull up that little skirt for me, too.”
Even though an uncomfortable shudder crawled up your spine, you nodded and stood up, finding your legs a bit shakier than they should’ve been.
You’d made his bed a thousand times but never thought to lay on it, so you felt a little strange bending yourself over the edge, and you tried to avoid meeting his gaze as you reached back to pull your uniform up to your hips.  You heard him hum but didn’t hear him get out of the chair, and you wondered if he was going to do anything at all.
“Are you… just going to look?” you wondered aloud.
“No,” he answered quickly, “I’m going to fuck you.  But I’m going to do it on my own time.  You can wait.”
And he sure did take his time, eating one more candy and finishing off his tumbler of vodka before he finally stood up and shed his robe; you felt his hands on your butt first, fingertips slipping under your panties delicately only to roughly tear them off.  You squealed slightly at that, biting your lip to keep it down, but he heard you and chuckled as he slapped your bare ass.
“I knew you were hiding something lovely underneath your uniform, кошеня,” he sighed, “I may need to make sure you never hide yourself from me again.  I always wanted to make you clean the house naked.”
Another spank made you wince and lurch forward, but another pang of heat hit between your legs, too— you hadn’t expected to enjoy this so much, but after all the anticipation you just needed him to get it over with.
Even if you honestly didn’t know that much about the ‘it’ he intended to do to you.
“How much do you know about sex?” he asked bluntly, apparently reading your mind somehow.
“Sex,” you repeated shakily, “is… something husbands and wives do…”
“Right,” he agreed, “but is that all you know?  Do you even know how good you can feel?”
He didn’t give you a chance to respond, reaching down to slide his fingers slowly over your pussy, your legs quivering right away.  When he focused on one spot, rubbing in circles gently, your back arched of its own accord.
“Have you ever touched yourself here?  Made yourself come?” he continued, pressing down a bit harder until you whimpered.
“N-no, sir,” you breathed, squirming as you felt yourself approaching the edge of… something, something you never knew you needed.
But of course, he had to stop just then and push his two fingers inside you as you cried out.  “Just that hurts you?” he realized, watching you nod and pout.  “Oh, кошеня, you have no hope of taking my cock… you may not be able to get your raise after all.”
“Please, sir,” you whimpered, “I can take it, I’ll be good— please…”
He twisted his fingers inside you and your legs quivered but you were determined to prove you could do this, so you ignored the sting and kept on breathing, hardly capable of believing how deep his fingers reached.
A third finger made your eyes start to roll back in your head, especially when all of them curled against a spot that made your toes curl inside the sensible heels you were made to wear at work each day.  Oddly enough, you found yourself rocking back onto his fingers in search of more, wanting him to push harder on that spot until you could finally reach that feeling you were blindly searching for.
“You need it so badly, кошеня,” he growled, “I’m trying to be gentle with you.  Is that not what you want?”
“J-just a little more, please,” you begged, whining when he instead pulled them all out and left you painfully empty.
“I’ll give you more, don’t you worry about that,” he promised cryptically, and you gasped at the feeling of his hard cock pressing against your opening.  You were so wet that as he slid his length over your folds, you coated him with your arousal in mere moments.  “I think you’re ready for me, sweetheart.”
You, meanwhile, weren’t so convinced; your gut sank as you tried to imagine how something as thick as his cock would ever fit inside you, but he didn’t consult your opinion on the matter before he lined himself up and pushed forward.
He was kind enough to move slowly, leaning down to wrap your body in his as he filled you.  His hands slipped around and clutched yours, and you genuinely couldn’t tell if it was meant to soothe or restraint you.
“Бля, ти така гарна,” he breathed, squeezing your fingers between his.  You turned to rest your face on the silky comforter, a tear still making its way down your cheek which he tenderly kissed away.  “Don’t cry, it’s all right,” he whispered.  “I’m not going to move yet, just breathe.  It’s not going to hurt much longer.”
Tightening your jaw and breathing through your teeth was the best you could manage at the time, trying your best to relax since every time you tensed up, it hurt more.
“Так тугий,” he hissed against your ear as he finally found the end of you and his hips met the back of your legs, “і все моє.”
He stayed still until the pain faded, though you still winced slightly when he eventually did move again, pulling back only to push forward and fill you deeper, if possible, than before.
You felt him hitting that spot again, the one he found with his fingers before, and your whines started to soothe into moans and gasps.
“See?  I knew you would like it,” he whispered proudly, “I knew you’d take me so well.”
He trailed kisses in abstract patterns over your neck and shoulders, gentle at first but soon enough becoming wet and sharp with his tongue and teeth, the pace of his thrusts picking up along with it.
“Так добре, така добра дівчина,” he groaned, “fuck, do you feel how deep am I inside you, sweetheart?  That’s how deep my come will be when I’m finished.”
Honestly, it was starting to feel so good that you couldn’t find the will to protest that.
“And then you’ll be mine forever,” he added, under his breath, so quiet that you could barely hear it.  But you did hear it, and you couldn’t explain why it made you moan louder, or made your walls grip him encouragingly.
Your toes curled again, your legs even started kicking a bit, when he slammed into you every time, the sound of his skin on yours and of your drenched channel being filled echoing around the ornate bedroom.  Thoughts of everything wrong about this were banished as your mind became a blank slate, you couldn’t even form words anymore (not that you were trying to) as your mouth fell slack and your body became a pliant vessel for his desire.
The edge was so close now, and you wondered if you should try to stave it off— but before you could even consider it, he bit down on your shoulder and you were pushed right over all at once, gasping his name as pleasure overtook you from your head to your toes.
“Good girl, keep going,” he instructed roughly, “don’t stop coming for me.”
You couldn’t if you tried.
Tears fell again, but for entirely different reasons than the first two times.  He whispered praises in your ear, in a few languages you understood and a few you didn’t, keeping you falling into it as long as he wanted you to.  You were so helpless to him now, your body going limp and your eyes fluttering shut, and you didn’t even mind it at all.
It went on for quite some time, it seemed, and though his stamina was impressive it was entirely unnecessary since you had already exhausted yourself of whatever maximum number of orgasms you could have in a row.
Finally, his desperation started to kick in and you could feel him getting rougher and losing his rhythm as his moans got louder yet deeper.  “I’m about to fill you up, кошеня, are you ready?”
You barely managed to nod through the fog, and it only took him a few more seconds before he squeezed your hands just a bit too tight and stopped moving.  There was a little delay before you felt the heat of it inside you, the feeling impossible to describe but instantly addictive.  As if you weren’t already feeling full before, now you felt stuff to the brim, and even when he pulled out you could still feel it— even when most of it seemed to drip down your thighs.
“There you go again, making another mess,” he sighed, “and this time on such a lovely comforter… I won’t make you lick it up this time, you look too pretty laying there fucked-out and braindead.”
Those words probably should’ve encouraged you to move and prove him wrong, but instead you were happier than ever to just lay there and soak in the afterglow.
He laid beside you on the bed, pulling your body to rest on top of his, stroking your hair while he caught his breath.  “You won’t just be getting a raise, sweetheart, but a very important promotion,” he mumbled.
As enticing as that sounded, up until that moment you’d forgotten about the raise entirely.

Rate My Professor
Masterlists: [All Thomas Hunt x Alex Spencer]  [Hollywood U]
Pairing: Thomas Hunt x Alex [F!OC] Book: Hollywood U Rating: general Word Count: ~600 Prompt: @choicesfebruary2022challenge : Chance A/N: @songsaboutgirls asked "what do you think thomas’s rating is on rate my professor?"
Synopsis: Hunt discovers Rate My Professor.
Tumblr media
Hear what some students had to say:
Professor Hunt might be brilliant but that brilliance is lost in his ego. He knows the subject, but not how to teach. He's a tough grader. It's impossible to get an A.
Professor Hunt turned the 8 AM class into a time to rant about everything wrong with modern cinema. He constantly berated students for expressing opinions different from his own. He holds little respect for successful directors of the day such as Michael Bay.
Professor Hunt may be rough around the edges, but he knows his stuff. His work speaks for itself. If you want warm and fluffy find another prof. If you want to learn the ins and outs of film, take this class. Give him a chance.
No doubt the worst teacher at HWU. No one in class ever had an idea what he was talking about. He's extremely arrogant and seems incapable of smiling. Took all the joy out of film critique.
Alex's private rating:
"Hmmm... what to say about Professor Hunt?" Alex's head dipped to the side as her lips twisted in consideration. She leaned forward, her fingers flirting with his tie. "Well, he's very handsome. Intelligent. Sophisticated. Pretentious about his scotch. Has great hair. He likes to pretend he's a grumpy, pompous film snub, but really he wants the best for his students. He knows the industry is hard, and he's just preparing them for it. He's a good, decent, respectable man." Her fingers threaded softly through his hair. "He's the best of men, whether he wants to believe it or not."
He leaned into her touch, letting the warmth of her palm cradle his cheek.
"You didn't have to say that."
Her thumb gingerly caressed his cheek. "Don't think about these ratings. They mean nothing."
"I know." He shook his head. "I've faced criticism all my life. It's part of the job. This path isn't easy. They need to understand that."
"They do, or they will. You have to give them time," she consoled. "One day, maybe years from now, they'll see. They'll understand. And they'll thank you for it."
His brow rose. "You really think that?"
She chewed her lip, her face scrunching as she tried to hide. Hesitantly she replied, "Not really."
"Good." His lips pressed into a sly grin.
"Wait—what?" Her eyes widened in confusion.
"I don't want them to thank me. I simply want them to do better, to find their passion, and create something worth remembering."
"Then, why were you pouting?"
"I do not pout."
"Why did you look so grim?"
"That's just my face."
"Thomas!"
He scrolled to the bottom to one final review. "Came for the underwear model, got some tweed-wearing old guy. #catfish? Seriously, I thought this guy was supposed to be some rich and sexy model/actor. Call me when you hire a stylist and maybe hit the gym (no way he's hiding abs under that sweater vest). 0/10 for style. 0/10 for personality. Thank you, next."
Alex failed to suppress her growing giggle.
"It's not funny."
"You're right," she attempted to compose herself. "Sorry."
He rubbed the bridge of his nose, shaking his head in disappointment.
"If it makes any difference, I love your tweed jacket. You look very distinguished."
"How does one go about deleting a review on here. I would like to report this atrocity." His hand grabbed the mouse as he searched the website.
"Don't you dare!" She quickly pushed his hand away.
"Alex, it's absurd."
"It is, but maybe this can be a good thing too."
"How so?"
"It'll help weed out anyone who takes your class hoping to hook up with a hot and sexy professor. Now you'll have people who want to be there for your expertise, not for something superficial." She raised her brow as he considered her words. "I make sense, don't I?"
"Fine. It can stay."
"Good." Alex pressed a kiss to his cheek. "Besides, I don't want anyone trying to tempt you away from me."
He guided her into his lap, wrapping his arms around her. "Do you think that could happen?"
"I hope not."
"I know not." He tenderly caressed her back. "You're one of a kind, Alex— a once in a lifetime find. I have no intention of letting you go."
"Good." She nodded, resting her forehead against his. "This is exactly where I want to be." Her lips brushed softly over his, savoring the moment between them, knowing that no matter where this journey took them, together is where they belonged.

Routines
Tim and Marinette lived busy lives.
It was by choice, of course.
They were both prominent figures in their fields that could pick and choose the assignments they wished to take, had more money than they could ever dream of using thanks to the hefty trust fund that being even tangentially related to Bruce Wayne provided, and no one would blame them if they were to lessen or give up their vigilantism. If they wished, there was nothing stopping them from taking a smaller workload, from using up all of their sick days, from taking vacations, from quitting their jobs entirely...
That being said, they likely never would.
And the tabloids loved to speculate on their relationship because of it. How could they spend much time together if Tim was always at work, developing new technology for Wayne Enterprises? Marinette was cheating, how could she not when so much of her job as a designer involved getting up close and personal with models? Not to mention all of the business trips. Surely, the relationship had some kind of monetary motivation, or maybe it was just to more seamlessly merge their companies, or it had only happened for PR reasons.
They let them speculate. They simply didn’t know better.
The tabloids didn’t get to see how they acted behind closed doors, after all.
There would be days where neither of them went in to work. It wasn’t due to some sort of sickness that Tim had caught thanks to his lack of spleen, nor would it be because Marinette had hit some kind of artist’s block. No, it was simply because they wanted to spend time together.
~
They took breaks. Technically. If you squint.
There would be days where neither of them went into work. It wasn’t due to some sort of sickness that Tim had caught thanks to his lack of spleen, nor would it be because Marinette had hit some kind of artist’s block. No, it was simply because they wanted to spend time together.
They would turn on the coffee machine and then make their way over to the sofa. Marinette would nestle herself into his side and smile as he wrapped his arm around her. He would pull her as close as he possibly could so he could still use both arms to type.
He usually took video calls like this. It was always so much easier to maintain a pleasant smile, even when people often looked down on him for his age, because whenever he felt it start to waver he could simply look down at his girlfriend and suddenly he would find that it would be back in full force.
She would prop her sketchbook on her legs and start on some new designs. The designs she did like this were always, inexplicably, more lively than the other ones -- full of vibrant colors and swooping curves in a way that some of her other works lacked. If asked, Marinette would joke that the secret ingredient was love.
And, sure, this wasn’t technically taking a break from work. They were still productive, still did tasks...
But they counted it. They always came back to work the next day with the same euphoric feelings in their chests, the same springs in their steps. How could they not? They’d spent the entire day doing what they loved with the person that they loved. Who could ever want a break from that?
~
Every time one of them came back from a business trip, they made sure to spend the night together.
Tim would lay back in bed, Marinette on top of him. Her head would come to rest on his chest, clutching the back of his shirt tightly. His fingers would find their way to her hair and she would huff a little, knowing that her hair was about to get hopelessly tangled as he fidgeted with the silky strands, but she would nuzzle into his chest all the same.
They would watch a TV show. It didn’t matter whether it was good or bad. As long as there were people and some semblance of a plot, they would gladly stay wrapped up in each other’s arms to watch it.
Tim would rattle off whatever theories he had developed as they came to mind. Some of them were absolutely insane, he knew, and would never happen… but it was worth making a fool of himself if it got Marinette’s face to light up or if he earned one of those little giggles that escaped her when he was instantly proven wrong.
Marinette would, at least, pause the show whenever she wanted to talk, though it wasn’t out of an understanding of how time works. No, it was so she could sit up a little in his lap and point at whichever character had offended her this time. She would go on long rants about how makeup was just as important as outfits in costuming, but it was often overlooked in favor of making the actors look pretty. And, maybe she had already said all of this before, but it’s important, Tim! And he would just nod his agreement. Because it was important -- a TV night certainly wouldn’t feel like a TV night without at least one rant.
And then the screen would go black, the most recent episode done.
Tim would draw back a little and then pretend to be shocked when his hands were stuck in her hair.
“Oh noooooo,” he’d say. “I guess I can’t let go yet.”
“How unfortunate,” she would deadpan.
He’d smile cheekily at her.
“Shut up.”
“But I didn’t even say anything!” He’d argue with overexaggerated offense.
She would smile, shaking her head as much as she could with the fingers in her hair. “You didn’t have to. You have a presence about you.”
“I’m going to take that as a compliment,” he’d say.
And, sometimes, she’d bring her hands up to cup his face. “Not sure if it was a compliment, but I definitely wouldn’t have it any other way,” she’d whisper before pulling him closer for a kiss.
… but, most of the time she would just laugh and say: “It wasn’t one.”
~
Once a month, Marinette tried to teach Tim to cook. Of course, they both knew it was a hopeless endeavor. He’d failed to make mac n’ cheese once, and Marinette -- who had lived the first eighteen years of her life in a Parisian bakery -- wasn’t good at discerning which meals were ‘easy to do’.
But that didn’t stop her from trying.
She would come up with a new recipe, would claim that this one was truly dummy proof…
And then Tim, dummy that he was, would manage to mess it up. Without fail, he would find some way to do something wrong. He would leave the milk on the stove and then be surprised when said milk on the stove decided to revolt against the system. He would raise the temperature on the thing they were baking so it would go faster and then be shocked when the cake didn’t rise at all. He would put too much in the mixer and then not understand why the contents had exploded over the two of them.
Worst thing was, she was pretty sure he was actually trying. He just… couldn’t seem to do it.
So, she would just kiss the disappointed frown off of his face and promise that they would do better next time.
And, every time without fail, he would light up.
“There will be a next time?” He would ask.
“Yeah. You’re lucky you’re cute, I can’t say I love being covered in ingredients.”
Tim would kiss her cheek, and then draw back and lick his lips. “I don’t know, I kind of like it. Something about my girlfriend being covered in tasty food really does something for me.”
“Like I said: you’re lucky you’re cute.”
And, even though she would say that, there was no mistaking the amusement dancing in her eyes.
~
They weren’t particularly religious, it was hard to be when Marinette had a god living in her earrings that obeyed her every command…
Which meant celebrations for the two of them were few and far between.
But, at least, they celebrated their anniversary.
They would sit on the rooftop, the blankets doing nothing to keep the hard tiles of the roof from digging into them and they did even less against the chilly Gotham air.
She’d stare up at the sky with him.
And, since it was Gotham, there were very few stars to be seen through the dark red and black haze of clouds that hung over the city.
But they didn’t mind.
Marinette smiled. “It’s our colors.”
He didn’t look over, watching the colors swirl above them. “Even the sky thinks we’re a good couple.”
“I wouldn’t be surprised. The sky god really does have a thing for love.”
He gave a short puff of laughter and finally tore his eyes away from the sky. “Really?”
She shrugged, grinning at him. “No clue. There might not even be a sky god.”
He scoffed and untangled his hand from its blanket prison to give her a tiny shove. She could have dodged the attempt with ease, but she allowed the hand to make contact.
To her surprise, he grabbed ahold of her shoulder and pulled her into him. She gave an undignified little squeak and, if it weren’t for the fact that he was right there, she would have probably faceplanted onto the tile.
But, instead, her face came crashing into his soft, pillowy shoulder.
She looked up at the crooked grin that she had come to love over the years and huffed, pulling her own arms free so she could shove him. For real.
He flopped back, the hand he’d managed to get out coming to rest over his chest as if he were hurt.
“How could you? Roofs hurt, you know.”
“Well, yeah, if you throw yourself down on tiles it’s not going to feel too great.”
He cracked a grin, though he quickly tamped it down to keep up the act: “Victim blaming at its finest.”
She rolled her eyes and leaned over him. One of her hands cradled his cheek, her thumb tracing the tiny scar on his cheekbone.
He looked up at her. And she thought, somewhere, that maybe the reason the pollution in the city was just some kind of coverup so no one would know that they all resided in Tim’s eyes.
And then she cursed herself mentally for thinking something so cheesy.
She had to make up for it somehow:
“You’re the worst, I hope you know that.”
“I am. But you love me anyway.”
Dang it. How was she supposed to feign being annoyed when he looked at her like that? With that soft smile and thick lashes and hair that framed his face just so.
She decided it wasn’t worth trying to pretend.
Marinette let herself match his smile.
“I do.”
“Save those words for our wedding,” he joked softly.
She rolled her eyes. “You haven’t even proposed yet.”
“I could be doing that right now. Who knows, this could all be my plan.”
“It’d be a good plan,” she said. “I’d probably say yes.”
He narrowed his eyes just slightly. “Isn’t that essentially you proposing to me?”
She tipped her head to the side, considering, then she laughed a little. “I guess it kind of is. So, Tim, will you marry me?”
His eyes widened to an almost comical degree.
And then his face lit up with a smile that made her heart flutter.
“I hope you know I want a ring.”
She giggled. “Just say yes, you idiot. We can always get the ring tomorrow.”
His smile only stretched further. “Yes. I’d love to marry you.”
“I love you,” she whispered, leaning closer until her lips brushed against his.
“I love you, too,” he breathed.
Marinette didn’t hesitate any longer, tilting her head to give him a proper kiss. He freed himself of the blanket and she gasped a little against his lips as he wrapped her up in it as well, drawing her close.
She pulled away just a little, her forehead coming to rest against his. She couldn’t seem to get the dopey smile off of her face, but she wasn't completely sure she even wanted it gone.
“I proposed first, so I won,” she said, sticking her tongue out at him playfully.
He smiled. “No, I did.”

Phone Call Anxiety
Corpse Husband x Reader (Female)
Warnings: None
Genre: FLUFF, RPF (Real Person Fic)
Summary: When wanting to make quality merch, one needs a quality team there to produce and work on quality ideas. Great minds think alike. Great eyes see alike and great hands make alike - the three keys to the formula of creating a clothing line that will be fashionable and up to his brand. Luckily, Corpse knows just who to call.
Requested by Anon. Hi hun! Thank you so much for your wonderful request, I absolutely loved the idea! Sorry you’ve had to wait for it to be turned into a fic for so long, but I still hope you come across it and give it a read in which case I hope you enjoy it! Love, Vy ❤
He’s not a fan of phone calls. Anyone who knows him even remotely is very well informed on Corpse’s distaste for phone calls and upholding a conversation over the phone. He’d even go as far as to say talking to a person face to face is less stressful for him than that previous option.
But still, seeing as how the person he’s trying to reach lives in a different state and is rather busy all the time, arranging an IRL meeting is basically impossible at the moment, and sending her a text results in running the risk of having the text overlooked or completely lost in the sea of notifications she probably gets on the daily.
Therefore, a phone call was his only proper way of reaching her. And it’s what’s got him pacing the room with his nervousness peaking.  He doesn’t know anything about this girl, nothing concrete at least. He was referred to her by Jack who brought her up in their passing conversation when Corpse mentioned how paranoid he was regarding his upcoming merch project. He specifically stated he doesn’t want anything basic and he wants the clothes to be fashionable, suitable for anyone no matter the age or gender and to be endurable. With all the love he has for his fans, he doesn’t want to give them anything less than what they deserve - the best.
“My friend’s the person you’re looking for.“ Jack said enthusiastically and confidently, “She helped me design the latest merch line I put out and I’ve never been more satisfied with my own merch. I’m planning on offering her a position in Cloak for her birthday. Make sure not to let that one slip out if you give her a call though.“ He warned half-jokingly.
Bottom line, with that kind of intro, Corpse couldn’t help but let his interest be piqued. And so, he asked for this girl - Y/N’s contact info from Jack before he went to surf through her social media where she thankfully posted plenty of pictures of her creations, never failing to mention specifications in the caption of each picture so the viewers would get the perfect and most detailed idea of how high the standard for her work is.
And so he’s finally managed to talk himself into dialing her number that’s been sitting in his phone for weeks now. As he paces his living room, his nerves chewing him out like a dog would with a toy, listening to the ear piercing ring of the dial waiting to get picked up by the girl he’s trying to reach.
Just then, Corpse’s head turns so that his eyes meet the glowing red numbers on his digital clock on his desk and he damn near hangs up the call right away - it’s half an hour past midnight. Fast as lightning, he removes the phone from his ear, his thumb flying over to press the red ‘end call’ button. Just then, a faint ‘hello’ reaches his ears, coming from the phone’s speaker. She’s answered the call.
He hurries to put the phone back up to his ear.
“Hey, sorry for taking so long to pick up, I ought to clean my desk eventually cause my phone was literally BURIED under a pile of papers.“ A cheerful sing-song voice rattles his stale and sleep deprived consciousness, as if awakening him from a half-dream state. “You’re either a wrong number caller or a last minute client, aren’t you? Need something done urgently?“
Corpse is taken the hell aback by her strong and downright awing first impression. Not to mention her energy at an hour unsuitable for calls. Lord knows he wouldn’t have picked up if her were in her spot. With the intention of not wasting any more of her time than necessary, he hurries to explain his situation. “Y/N, right? Um no, I’m neither actually. I was told about you by a friend, he said you were a real miracle-doer with fashion design.” He trails off for a second, not completely sure of how to hold this conversation, “Uh, sorry for the odd timed call, I lost track of time. I’ve been meaning to call you for hours now but I...I was nervous.” He cringes the second the word leaves his lips, leaving a bitter taste in his mouth. He doesn’t know why he wants to leave her with a great, better than realistic impression of himself but he does and as of now he deems his attempts as ultimate failures.
He hears her giggle from her end, rifling through what sounds to be papers, “Yeah, I’m her. And boy is it refreshing to get someone who’s calling with an actual purpose.” She sighs as if a weight’s been lifted off her shoulders, “And don’t worry about the phone call anxiety. Makes two of us, to be honest.”
This catches him off-guard. The last thing he’d expect is for this girl to have phone call anxiety. In fact, she appears to be a natural, God-given talent at carrying conversations and upholding chit-chat with people. Maybe he’s a little too quick to judge - probably, considering he’s ‘known’ her for less than five minutes and knows nothing but her occupation, her name and the state she lives in - but that bubbly persona she greeted him with gave off the impression that it’s immune to any and all kinds of social anxiety - or anxiety in general. To hear such an honest and counter-to-assumptions confession on her part rattles him a tiny bit. In a good way though.
“How does that work for you? Isn’t your whole job depending on your phone conversational skills?“ He doesn’t mind that he didn’t phrase that too perfectly or that he straight up blurted it out. He knows he’ll be understood. She’s obviously a person who understands. Not just something specific, but everything. She simply understands. How he drew this conclusion and how accurate it is, he may not know until further notice.
“Well...“ she sighs as if genuinely looking to give him a proper answer, “You see, after doing it for so long and having been caught off guard quite a few times with some absolutely absurd orders, I’ve grown prepared of literally ANYTHING and I have a line prepared for anything the caller has to say. I just no longer let them catch me off guard and it’s fine. Helps avoid any possible awkward silences.“
Corpse’s eyebrows shoot up, her explanation only raising more questions rather than providing answers. But he’s not gonna be the annoying dumbass asking those questions at close to 1AM and bugging her. After all, if she agrees to this partnership, they’ll be hearing and potentially seeing a lot more of each other soon. “Impressive, honestly. You’re gonna need to teach me sometime.“ He’s unaware he’s smiling until he catches his reflection in the window. However, he doesn’t bother hiding it. This conversation is actually making him feel good, serving as a reminder that he’s not the only one who periodically goes through turmoil over small things.
She giggles again, this time the sound manages to draw a blush out of him, coating his cheeks, “I’d typically stray for revealing my secrets to professional success, but I’m willing to make an exception for you...” she pauses for a second as though she’s just now remembered something, “Oh shoot, I don’t even know your name.”
He wheezes out a nervous laugh, realizing he never introduced him, “Oh yeah, sorry, that’s my bad. My name’s Corpse, nice to meet ya.”
“Nice to meet you too, Corpse.“ Y/N replies, sounding pleased but teasing simultaneously, “Now tell me, you didn’t call me about my phone call secrets, did you? What may be the real purpose of your call?“
Oh shoot, he himself almost forgot what he was calling for. Luckily, the reference designs displayed on his computer screen remind him. “Right, well, I’ve been thinking of launching a new merch line either this month or the next, depending on how long the procedure will take, and I needed someone great on my team to make some merch actually worth the money people are paying for it. And, as I said, I was told you were in that ‘someone great’ category.”
“Told by who, if you don’t mind me asking?“ She briefly cuts him off, her voice now giving away the fact that she’s half-absent-minded in this conversation, added evidence be the ruffling of more papers on her end.
“Jack. I mean, Sean. You know, Jacksepticeye.“ Corpse explains, contemplating whether he should’ve ratted Jack out like that. Hearing the sound of delight Y/N lets out eases his worries ASAP though.
“Oh Gosh, I haven’t seen that cutie in so long! He’s like a brother to me so a friend of Jack’s is a friend of min-“ this time she cuts herself off so abruptly Corpse thought the line was cut or she hung up on him. She doesn’t let him wonder for long though, “Wait, wait, wait....Merch? And you’re friends with Jack?“ She pauses for a second once again, once again not a long enough second for Corpse to speak up. “You’re a famous YouTuber, aren’t you?“
He was completely unaware of the fact Y/N hadn’t realized he was someone famous yet. In fact, he didn’t think of it because he thought it wouldn’t be a big deal to her considering she’s friends with Jack-fucking-septiceye! In his mind, his ranking is far lower than Jack’s - despite that mindset being absurd - so the last thing he expected was for her to have some sort of impressed reaction to have been talking to him on the phone this whole time. Hell, she doesn’t even know his full YouTube name or what kind of content he produces.
“WAIT!“ She shouts urgently, startling him a tiny bit, “You’re Corpse Husband, aren’t you? Oh my God, yes you are, how didn’t I put it together sooner? Ah crap, I really need more coffee for this.“
“No! No, you need more sleep.“ Corpse hurries to correct her but is very clearly ignored or overlapped with the many sounds that are coming from her end, “What are you doing?“
“You’re getting the first rough sketch of a design by tomorrow morning.“ She says, taking a sip of whatever beverage she’s acquired for the purpose of keeping her awake, “You go ahead and get some sleep, I know exactly what I’m doing. Don’t worry about it.“
“I’m not worried about the design.“ He hurries to say before she, God forbid, hangs up on him, “It’s 1AM, woman, you need sleep! I don’t need those designs done by tomorrow. Hell, I don’t even need them this week!“
“You don’t, but I do.“ Y/N says, sounding almost breathless because of what seems to be overwhelming excitement, “You don’t get it - I’m designing merch for Corpse fucking Husband! You have any idea how crazy that is?“
“I personally would say it’s underwhelming. I mean, I’m no Pewdiepie, after all.“ He says, now sat at his desk with his free hand rubbing his temple as he stares at the designs he’s pulled up on his screen, ones he probably won’t need given that he’s now working with a professional.
“Oh, shut it.“ She chuckles, “Shut it and get some sleep, ok? I’ll talk to you in the morning.“
“Noooo...“ He leisurely stretches the word, “Tell me, Y/N, do you have Discord?” She clicks her tongue instantly, giving him a signal that the question he’s asked is bordering into the territory of ridiculous. He playfully rolls his eyes, “Alright then, lemme find you. If we’re partnering up on this, we’re both staying up.”
“You know you can just straight up tell me you don’t fully trust me with this? Like, I won’t be offended, I get it.“ She murmurs in-thought, the sound of clicking evident on her end.
“You know you can just straight up tell me you don’t want me bothering you and want me to leave you alone?“ He mimics her statement, smirking to himself as he pulls up Discord, knowing he’s already won.
She huffs and tells him her Discord info, quickly adding a small comment, “...but only because great minds think alike. I know we’ll be getting along on this design pretty nicely.”
“Yeah, yeah, right, sure, whatever you say.“ He laughs, “Accept my friend request and let’s drop this phone call.“
“Hey! - um, before we do that, I just wanna say a quick thank you.“ Y/N murmurs quietly, as if half-hoping he doesn’t hear her.
“For what?“ Corpse asks, his brows furrowing, unsure if they’re on the same page about this gratitude.
“For never once triggering my phone call anxiety.“ She admits, “I mean, I know I said I have lines prepared for every conversation scenario possible, but you totally caught me off-guard.“ She giggles a tiny bit, now sounding dangerously close to nervous, “But, not in a bad way, if that makes sense. Sorry if it doesn’t, I need more coffee.“
“No, no, it does!“ He hurries to reassure her, “It really does. And thank you too. Thank you for, you know, tolerating my BS at this hour. God knows I would’ve ignored your call if our roles were reversed.“
He hears her scoff and can’t help but laugh, “Huh ok, I see.“ She says, sounding greatly triggered and mock-pissed at his confession, “I’ll make sure to think of that next time you call me after midnight. Or at all, ever.“
Laughing his butt off, the only thing Corpse can think of in this moment is:
Damn, this girl and I are gonna get along

The Proposal ~ T.H
chapter six: the end
Synopsis: fake marriage, real trouble
Series Masterlist
Tumblr media
A week later, you sat in a hotel room in Canada with papers all around you. The process to becoming a citizen was a long one, so you wanted to get started right away. You were pulled away from your work momentarily when you heard a knock at your door.
“Who is it?” You called out.
“Room service.” A muffled voice called back. You furrowed your eyebrows before going to the door to inspect the random visitor.
“I didn’t order any-“
You opened the door to see Tom in his regular clothes with a Starbucks cup in hand. You didn’t have to drink from the cup to know it was a matcha latte.
“Good morning.” He smiled shyly and held the cup out. “This is for you.”
“Tom?” You asked in disbelief. “How did you get here?”
You took the cup from him to be polite and took a sip, smiling a little at the correct order.
“I followed the yellow brick road.” He said simply. You gave him an unamused look and took a long sip of your drink.
“Sorry. Was that a bad time for a witch joke? It feels like it was a bad time. Oh God.” He began to panic and looked down at the ground.
“It’s fine.” You assured him. “But what are you doing here?”
“I came to get you back.” He told you. “The office isn’t the same without you.”
You stared at him for a moment, unsure of what to say. Part of you couldn’t believe he had flown all the way to Canada just to try to get you back, but another part of you knew that was exactly the kind of thing Tom would do.
“And also, I really miss you.” He added quietly. “I really, really, miss you.”
“I’ve missed you too.” You admitted, bringing a smile out of him. He pulled out an unused barf bag out of his pocket suddenly and you noticed that he had written all over it.
“Sorry. I came up with this whole speech on the plane and I didn’t want to forget it.” He cleared his throat before beginning to read off the bag. “I know why you ran away. You ran because you were scared. You’re scared of being a part of a family again and allowing someone to love you. Am I right?”
“You might be a little right.” You mumbled as you adverted your eyes.
“You’re scared of having people who love you in spite of all your efforts to shut them out.” He continued. “You’re scared of that because you want it more than anything.”
He folded the bag suddenly and shoved it back into his pocket, deciding to speak from the heart instead. He took your hands in his, prompting you to look at him.
“It’s all here.” He said sincerely. “It’s waiting for you. You don’t have to be scared anymore.”
“And what about when it’s not there anymore?” You asked in a weak voice. “When it goes away, like every good thing does, then what? Who’s gonna love me then?”
“I know you think it’s been a long time since you’ve been a part of a family, but it hasn’t.” Tom told you. “You and me sharing that office the past two years, that was the start of our family. All the late nights we spent reading page after page. Every moment you took to teach me something so that I could be better at my job, so I could be like you. All of that was us, you and me, being a family.”
“No it wasn’t.” You pulled your hands out of his. “You shouldn’t have come here.”
“You told me you were falling in love with me.” He ignored your efforts to make him leave. “Did you mean that?”
“Yes.” You said after a minute of silence.
“I meant it too.” He smiled softly.
“You don’t love me.” You sighed. “You don’t even know me, Tom.”
“But I want to.” He insisted. “Despite every effort you’ve made to shut me out, I’ve spent the past two years trying to know you. And every time you let me in just a little, I’m reminded why I never stopped trying.”
“You’re not in love with me. You just have some school boy crush.”
“I started as that.” He agreed. “But it’s different now. It’s real now.”
“Don’t you get it? This doesn’t change anything.” You gestured between the two of you. “Even if we developed feelings for each other, our engagement is still fake. You could still go to jail. I care about you and your family too much to risk that.”
“Okay, here me out.” Tom began. “Could jail really be that bad?”
“Oh my God.” You groaned and tried to shut the door.
“And it’s not even guaranteed I’d go to jail.” He continued as he held your door open. “Chances are, the IRCC never finds out that the marriage started as a scam.”
“What are you trying to say?”
“I’m saying it’s worth the risk to me. I would risk potentially going to jail to give us the time we deserve. Because I do love you.” He promised. “And I know you love me. As much as you don’t want those things to be true, they are. So suck it up, and let me love you. For Gods sake, woman.”
“I’m sorry, was that a proposal?”
“I’m sorry.” He rubbed his eyes. “There are like 500 hotels in Canada and I was up all night trying to find the one you were in.”
“It’s okay.” You chuckled a little.
“Let me try again.” He asked before getting down on one knee. “Y/n, will you marry me so that we can date?”
“What if we don’t work out?” You fear as you chewed your bottom lip.
“What if we do?” He shrugged.
“Well, I can’t argue with that.” You chuckled.
“Is that a yes?” He asked hopefully.
“Yes.” You rolled your eyes at him. “I’ll marry you.”
“Did she say yes?” Sams voice came from somewhere in the hallway.
“Shut up!” Harry answered him. “I can’t hear.”
“Both of you, knock it off.” Nikki snapped her fingers. “I can’t hear her answer.”
You looked at Tom with a raised eyebrow as he got off his knee.
“Okay, my family is in the hallway.” He admitted. “But it wasn’t my idea. They begged me to come along.”
“All of them?” You asked.
“They really missed you.” He shrugged, making your face light up.
“I said yes!” You yelled out, loud enough for the family to hear. They all came rushing into your room and enveloped you in a group hug, cheering and crying over the news.
“We’re getting married!” Tom yelled over his family’s cheers.
“Fuck the government!” You yelled back before pulling him into a long, reunion kiss.
One month later
“And now, the vows.” The priest said as he took a step back.
You were standing across from Tom on the alter in his aunts hotel on your highly anticipated wedding day. You’d been staying in the UK on “vacation” as you planned your wedding, adding in a few more details now that you had more time. You were still in Nikki’s wedding dress, but this time, you were wearing Toms old tennis shoes. Paddy had lent you a blue handkerchief of his, which you had tied into your hair. Your entire office had come out to see you, all of them insisting they’d never miss your big day. Best of all, Tom was fresh off getting lovely reviews from the media after his book was received by the public.
“Tom.” You began your vows. “You are the most patient person I have ever met. You have overcome everything I’ve thrown your way with grace and resilience. And I have thrown a lot. I even threw a pencil sharpener at his head once.”
You paused to let the crowd laugh at you joke, even though you weren’t joking.
“Over the past two years, you have been by my side every single day without fail. And after today, you’ll be be my side for the rest of my life.” You continued with a smile. “And I couldn’t be happier about that. I’m so lucky to have found someone who refuses to give up on me. To have found the first person to take the time to get to know me, despite every effort I made to never let such a thing happen. Tom looked past all the walls I put up and decided I was someone who was worth getting to know, and for that I’ll forever be grateful. I’ll forever be grateful for a lot of things he’s done.”
“I did not like Y/n for a long time.” Tom began, making the guests laugh. “I thought she was mean and cold and weird for drinking matcha. Like, who lives in England and doesn’t drink tea? I’ll never understand it. But I’ll never understand a lot of things about Y/n. Like how I can’t stay mad at her, even when she throws things at my head. Or how right when I think I have her figured out, she does something completely out of nowhere. Like publishing my book that I didn’t even know she read. Y/n may come off as mean and frigid, but she’s not. She’s actually really sweet when she wants to be. But only when she wants to be. And if you’re lucky enough to gain her trust, she’ll let you in. And that’s when you’ll meet the one the most intelligent, passionate, beautiful, bitchiest women in the world. And you’ll fall just as deeply in love with her as I have.”
You smiled brightly at Tom as a tear of joy slipped from your eye. He reached forward to wipe it with his thumb as the priest went on.
“Do you, Tom, take Y/n to be your lawfully wedded wife?” He asked. “To have and to hold, until death do you part?”
“I do.”
“And do you, Y/n, take Tom to be your lawfully wedded husband? In sickness and in health, for as long as you both shall live?”
“I do.”
“If anyone should have any objections, speak now or forever hold your peace.”
You held your breath and looked at the crowd, anticipating at least one person to object. To your surprise, there was not one dry eye in the house. Everyone, including your employees, was in tears. You looked back at Tom in disbelief and he gave you a wink.
“By the power invested in me, I now pronounce you husband and wife.” The priest said. “You may kiss your spouse.”
Tom was quick to put his hands on your face and pull you into a kiss, as he had been anticipated it from the moment you walked down the isle. You kissed him back as the crowd erupting into applause and cheers. Once the pictures were taken and the final words were said, you ran down the isle hand in hand.
The reception was held in a room right next store as Toms family and your employees gathered together. You changed into a casual white slip dress and kept your tennis shoes on so you could be more comfortable. After the reception and a few goodbyes to his family, you drove back to your apartment to spend the night.
“I can’t believe it.” Tom sighed happily as you walked through the front door. “We’re really married.”
“Not yet.” You reminded him as you rested your hands on his shoulders. “Our appointment is at 8 am tomorrow at city hall. Harry said he’d be our witness.”
“You made my family really happy today.” He smiled up at you while his fingers drummed your waistline. “They really like having you around.”
“I like them.” You replied. “I’m honored to be a Holland.”
“You don’t have to change your last name if you don’t want to.” He said softly. “I know it’s a sexist tradition and everything. I wouldn’t be offended if you kept yours.”
“Tom, I want to take your last name.” You chuckled. “It’s been a long time since I’ve had the last name of someone who loved me.”
A fond smile tugged at Toms lips before he stepped forward. He silently pulled you into kiss, letting his rough fingers spread across your face. You tugged him by the tie as you stumbled back into your bedroom, never letting your lips leave his. Tom pulled away for a moment to pull his tie over his head and place it around your neck, using it to pull you closer as he slipped his tongue into your mouth.
“You know.” You smiled against his lips. “We might just get away with this.”
“Oh, darling.” He sighed happily. “I think we already have.”
Three years later
“Hello. My name is Sandra.” Your IRCC agent sat in front of you and smiled tightly. “I’ll be handling your case today. You two must be Mr. and Mrs.-“
“Holland.” You finished her sentence with a smile. “Nice to meet you.”
“You as well.” She nodded and shook yours and Toms hand. “I see you’re applying for naturalisation.”
“Yes, sir.” You replied. “I would like an adjustment of status for my citizenship.”
“I see.” She said as she looked over your file. “How long have the two of you been married?”
“Three years.” Tom answered.
“Have you lived in the UK the whole time?” Sandra asked.
“Yes, we have.” You nodded as you slipped your fingers through Toms. He brought your enjoined hands to his lap and held them there while his leg anxiously bounced.
“And you both work?”
“Yes.” Tom said. “We’re the chief editors at the Bullock Publishing Company.”
“And Toms a published author.” You added. “A successful one, too.”
“Wow. Chief editors.” Sandra raised her eyebrows. “So, are you familiar with the process of naturalization?”
“Yes. I have all my forms right here.” You handed her a folder full of your processing forms.
“And you passed the life in the UK test?” She asked as she looked through the folder.
“On her first try.” Tom added. “She didn’t even have to study.”
“Have you ever broken a law?”
“Nope.” You shook your head. “Not even a speeding ticket.”
“Hm.” Sandra looked between the two of you skeptically. “How long were you together before you were married?”
“Two years.” Tom answered. That was the only part you had to lie about, but the rest of your story was truthful. You’d been living in the UK for the past three years as Toms wife, and now it was time to become a real citizen. Sandra looked between the two of you again, not liking how seemingly perfect your story was.
“We met at work.” Tom added when he sensed the doubt. “I used to be her assistant.”
“He stills gets my coffee for me, though.” You smiled at him. “Even after three years of working in the same position as me, he gets my coffee like he’s my assistant. Isn’t that sweet?”
“I don’t mind.” Tom insisted. “After we were married, she changed her coffee order to match mine. Cute, right?”
“We drink tea, actually.” You piped up. “Because who would live in the UK but not drink tea?”
You gulped loudly as Toms leg continued to bounce. You’d managed to get away with it for three years, and you could only hope this meeting wouldn’t jeopardize everything.
“Okay.” Sandra sighed and put your forms down. “We’ll review your case and get back to you in the next few months.”
“Okay.” You smiled nervously. “Thank you so much.”
You grabbed Toms hand and pulled him out of the office as fast as you could.
“She didn’t suspect anything.” Tom said once you were in the car. “I think we actually got away with this.”
“I know.” You laughed in disbelief. “Did we just successfully pull off a fake marriage?”
Tom quieted down all the sudden, looking down at his lap before staring out the window.
“Do you...do you still think it’s fake?” He asked quietly without looking at you.
“Tom, no.” You put your hand on his face and made him look at you. “The engagement was fake. Or, for fake reasons. But the marriage is real to me. It’s been real to me since your mom walked in on us kissing that one day.”
Tom smiled a little a nodded, feeling better now that you reassured him. He took your hand off his face and kissed it as he held eye contact with you.
“Okay. I’m sorry.” He smiled sheepishly. “I was just wondering because I always thought of it as real.”
“Okay, good.” You squeezed his hand. Then we’re on the same page.”
6 months later, you found a letter from the government addressed to you in the mailbox. You opened it as you walked back inside the house, freezing in your tracks when you realized what it was.
“Whats that, darling?” Tom asked when he noticed your expression.
“The Home Office approved my citizenship.” You looked up at him with wide eyes. “I passed. I’m officially a UK citizen.”
“What?!” He rushed towards you and scooped you into a hug. “Thats incredible. Congratulations.”
“I can’t believe it.” You squeezed him tightly as tears of joy streamed down your face. “I’m a citizen. This is amazing.”
Tom pulled away to give you a congratulatory kiss. He pressed kisses all over your face as you giggled in his arms.
“Wait.” He let go of you with a sad look on his face. “What does this mean for us?”
“What do you mean?” You wondered.
“Well, you’re a citizen now. Technically, you don’t need to be married to me.” Tom said quietly. You gave him a sympathetic look and stroked his cheek with your thumb.
“I know.” You told him. “But I want to be.”
“You do?” He asked hopefully. “You still do, even though you don’t have to?”
“I do.” You promised. “I told you, this is real to me.”
“Okay.” He sighed in relief. “Good.”
“You don’t have to worry about me running anymore, Tom. You’re my family now.” You smiled softly and rested your hand on his face. “And I’m not anywhere.”
“Me either.” He said as he pulled you into a hug. “I’m not going anywhere either.”

Hopelessly in Love
Tumblr media
Yandere Scaramouche x Reader
Summary: Y/N was a simple civilian. Another face in the crowd. Yet something about them just clicked with him. Their charming smile, kind eyes, the hope they have for the world.  Everyone deserves the benefit of the doubt, right?
Oh how wrong you were….
Warning: General Yandere Themes, implied kidnapping, OOC Scara (?)
“Hopeless? crooked laughter escaped the figure. “Sweetheart. Pigeon. Dove.” His tone grew darker with each endearing pet name. “Don’t you see you’re the one caged here?”
Little things add up. They always do. Flashing a smile at a stranger, offering a helping hand, insisting to help despite being rejected. Everything would’ve been fine if you ignored that feeling of guilt in your gut. He’s a fatui harbinger. He doesn’t even need your help. Why take the risk?
Yet he looked so helpless. Borderlining pathetic when your eyes landed upon his bruised body in one of the many alleyways of Liyue. Little did you know that you would soon match with the ‘helpless’ victim.
~
Like clockwork, every Monday morning a gift nested itself at your door. Always from an ‘anonymous’ sender. Though the burning feeling in your chest is enough to warn, tell you who the gifter was.
Today an intricate floral barrette nested upon your welcome mat, being cradled in a lavender box, lined with royal purple silk. The delicate hair piece was adorned with what you guess was glass cherry blossoms. Similar to the flowering branches you’d see in Inazuma travel guides. Only to be attached to a note that simply read; To: My Delicate Flower.
Admiration, gratitude, acknowledgement. Those were the innocent reasons you gave yourself. He simply didn’t know how to properly express his feelings to you. It couldn’t be love. Even if it was. It should fade away quickly. After all, he most likely fell in love with your actions. Not you, right? Continuing to feed yourself these lies. You scurry back into your home, ignoring the growing static in the air.
~
It ate away at him daily. At first he denied it. There’s no universe in which he would fall for such a weakling. Let alone someone who looked down upon him with such naivete. Yet those doe like eyes drew him in, maybe opposites attract after all.
“Sir?” “Did I give you permission to speak? Can’t you see I was busy?” Each word seemed to gather the lingering static in the air, slowly gathering upon his fingertips. Before he could strike, a simple string of words stopped his rage causing it to go static. “She’s caught Childe’s attention.”
~
“One red bean bun to go please ~! Chimed a playful voice announcing their arrival, stealing the welcome bell’s job. “I think we harmonized that time. What do you think?”
Rolling your eyes, you ceremoniously stuff the sweet treat into his mouth. While taking his mora with your free hand.
“Keep the change, sweet. Think of it as a gift from me to you. After all, having me around must scare off the more skittish of patrons,” the silver tongue male reasoned, grinning from ear to ear as you sheepishly smiled back.
“You and I both know how that’ll affect the business if others catch wind. As you said before ‘the walls have ears’. So, be a good child and keep the change,” you chirped, slipping the excess coins into his pocket.
“All work and no play makes for a boring life. I’d hate for you to resemble a certain coworker of mine.”
As if summoned by the Archons themselves a familiar navy haired male entered the quaint bakery. The usual scowl that painted his lips softened upon seeing his sakura blossom. Only to sour once more at the living headache. With the soft sound of geta blanketing the once warm atmosphere. A small storm loomed above.
“Speak of the devil! Y/N, I’ve told you of Scaramouche, right? Oh yes ~!” A lump made home in your throat as you caught the glint in your ‘friend’s’ eye. “This little lady actually saved our dear Scara. Didn’t ya, Y/N? Truly a being too pure for this world,” he mocked softly, wiping a fake tear.
“Indeed. It’d be quite a shame if something were to happen to them.” Scaramouche stated simply, fighting back his grimace at Childe’s obvious bait.
Any patrons who dared stayed despite the single fatui member, now since fled with the newcomers aura.
“Azuki beans..”
“That’s their native name. It’s quite troublesome to get exports from Inazuma but it’s worth it in the end! I wouldn’t be able to make half of my selection otherwise,” wearing your best customer service smile, you spill out your sales pitch.
Did Scaramouche smile? Not going unnoticed by the younger harbinger, Childe’s Cheshire grin was quickly stopped with a tug of his ear.
“My apologies for the sudden intrusion but I was simply here to pick up the walking menace. Though I’ll be sure to make time to visit. It’d be a shame if I never got to try any of your baking after all,” with a boyish chuckle, he and Childe left your safe haven.
“What the hell do you think you’re doing?”
“Just visiting an old friend. Why does my dear superior care so much? The mighty Scaramouche didn’t fall in love, did he?” The navy haired male scoffed at the thought, his cheeks ghosting a shade of pink. “As if. They’re nothing but a distraction. If anything someone should teach them their place,” Scaramouche clicked his tongue with eyes glued forward. Though Childe’s amused grin just fueled his growing agitation.
~
That’s why you were in the position you are now.
Silky ribbon bit and dug into your precious skin. Decorating your canvas with shades of purple, blue, and grey. Each movement voluntary or not simply helped tie the scene together with your captor playing the part of the centrepiece.
“You’re nothing but a hopeless cause. No one will love you if you’re like this,” choked sobs escape your lips, body flinching as Scaramouche cradled your chin within his palm.
“Hopeless?” Crooked laughter escaped the short male. “You think I’m hopeless? Sweetheart. Pigeon. Dove. Don’t you see that you’re the one caged here?” Pulling you into a suffocating kiss, he gingerly wiped your tears with his thumb. “You saved me that day. I’m simply returning the favour. Chin up princess. I’m sure you’ll be happier with me.”

About Obey Me! apparently not being F2P anymore.
I just wanted to say something about this. Because I’ve seen so much outrage in the fandom especially about their recent anniversary celebration.
Sorry if this might end up being long.
It’s just, so many people cry and complain about the game allegedly not being free to play anymore. But that is where the lie is.
And that’s also what will bring down the game a lot faster. Them constantly getting complaints and feeling like they’ll lose their player base will make them start to milk the game out of the last cent a lot sooner then knowing they have a few more years.
The game is free to play. You download it for free. You play for free. You have to pay nothing and to be honest, if you invest some time you get a lot.
This is a gacha game after all, you also need some luck, but in comparison to a game like Genshin Impact, that a lot of players seemed to have started to pick up as well you get a lot of materials to get the most out of your luck.
I’ve been playing for 432 days and those are all my cards. I haven’t given them a single cent. Did they get a lot of my time? Yes- but I was willing to pay that price.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I’m not trying to show off with that in any way, I just wanted to show that you indeed get a lot. As an F2P.
So it’s a lie saying the game is starting to become Pay to Play. Because it is not.
You don’t have to spend anything if you don’t want to.
Could they have handled the celebrations differently, like letting everyone chose their desired background at the end of the login? Sure- they could’ve done that. But they simply decided not to.
And that is their right as the company paying for the servers you use for free, paying for the artist that do a super good job providing about 14 brand new hand drawn cards per month, plus the voice actors, plus the animations, plus the story writers. That is a lot of work. That’s a new card every two days. They pay for promotions. They pay for all the IT working on the game, programming it, customer support, social media managers. Do you think this is free? Do you think that’s payable with just some advertisement here and there? Fun Fact: It’s not.
Small rant in the rant: A lot of people also make money off of their copyrighted materials and therefore take more income from them. As they would have to pay for usage right to be legally allowed to sell fanart. Just saying :D
How’d you like someone take your character and makes money off of them, not really, am I right? I don’t know why people think it’s okay since it’s a company. Their designers want to have a wage too.
So it is definitely not P2P.
I will however agree that the events are Pay to Win.
And apparently most of you don’t understand the difference of pay to win and pay to play. And listen, there is a big one.
I don’t know why the Obey Me! Fandom seems to think they are entitled to getting every single card that’s been put out there, to find it in their inventory. Like you can even see it and download the art from the Wiki. Heck spend 5 minutes on YouTube and someone uploaded the Devilgram too. The visibility of the Card is not behind a paywall. Is the additional story or animation that cost additional money sometimes behind a pay wall? Yes- and that is ok.
I don’t know if you noticed, but aside from the Lucifer Paws and Claws UR there is not a single Pop Quiz UR in my cards. Not one. And I got Lucifer’s grinding my ass off in Lonely Devil, spending weeks doing my daily battles. Because that card was worth it to me. In the normal events I can max get the Memory SSR, spending all of my savings on nightmare beforehand. I have like two of those. Two of which we got completely free. Leviathans UR was completely free.  You realize they could’ve converted the points and taken the card from everyone, which tbh was the move I would’ve done but long term the realized it would make them lose more people and therefore money. Amos UR+ was completely free. Lucifer’s raindrop card I just got in this rerun, spending all of my savings from the past two months or more. Mammons was my guaranteed BDay card. 3 of those completely free so to say. The 14 were all I got with 432 days of playtime. That’s about a card each month. Doesn’t seem that much anymore don’t you think? Also most of the gacha cards I got from after they raised the odds to 3%. That also needs to be mentioned. They did that. 2 are character birthdays. Again with savings and time you got them. All the old cards I got doing that free pull you get every two days. That’s 4 of them as well. Only 8 of them being from limited gachas, in about 1 and a half years of playing.
But especially in gachas you should know that you can’t have everything. I don’t know why people got that impression? I don’t have every card that comes out because I don’t pull on every nightmare. I use the time there is a character I don’t like to save up. And with Obey Me! you can save up a lot.
Bringing up Genshin again: It’s fandom seems to be aware that as a Free to Play you just can’t get every character, and they seem to be fine with it. They save and manage their resources. I’ve been playing since 4 months and I have 2 5 star characters and one 5 star weapon. 2 of those I didn’t want and lost the 50/50. But that’s just how it is. I enjoyed what I got since I only spend my time how it is worth it to me.
I have to admit I had a lot of time to spend on games and if you don’t you won’t get as much, but that’s also normal. OM dailies take about 10 minutes and you get your 18 DP and can work on your cards. That is a lot to save up. And so far I pretty much got every card I wanted as long as it wasn’t an event card. And I could get those too if I invest even more time. I am just simply not willing to.
There is too much to do in this game already for me to keep up. So I really can’t understand what more you could ask for. I am home all day long and I can’t keep up with everything, so why are people complaining about not getting everything? There is so so much to get. Just focus on what you want and don’t turn into miniature Mammon’s that just want everything. And also like: Have you noticed? Most of my cards aren’t even close to being fully leveled. What do you want to do with even more of them? That won’t bring you anywhere?
But anyways I’m losing track of my own rambling where were we?
The fact that people here seem to confuse Pay to Play and Pay to Win, that was actually all I wanted to ramble about.
Manage your resources and you get a lot. If you want an F2P game that has no aspects to generate money? Well go make one. Teach yourself how to do everything, consider how much time you spend on all that before even starting. And then not getting a single cent back.
I also probably forgot half of what I wanted to say again, my body can’t keep up my big brains idk.

Imagine leaving the fire nation with Zuko when he was banished and helping comfort him when he’s having his breakdown.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Your years of banishment had been pretty uneventful at first, just travelling the seas and every corner of the earth looking for the avatar who didn’t exist. Then he suddenly did and your life was turned into an endless chase. You honestly didn’t care that the avatar was the biggest threat to the fire nation but as it was Zuko’s mission to capture him you helped. Then after Zuko’s many failed attempts Ozai sent Azula and you went from being the hunters to the hunted. You, Iroh and Zuko all had to go into hiding and Zuko took it the hardest. He’d been in an awful mood for days but when Iroh offered to teach him lightning bending he perked up and put all his effort into learning the skill.
You however, were more than happy to stand and watch from a distance. You had always been scared of lightning and although you’d done a good job hiding it in the palace (if you showed it you knew Azula would constantly do it so you managed to stifle your flinches) you still didn’t want to get too close. So you stayed by camp preparing food for later when suddenly you heard yelling. You stood up and frowned to see Iroh and Zuko arguing. Zuko was clearly angry at Iroh and pushed past him storming away. You ran over to Iroh and watched as Zuko stalked away from your camp. “What happened, what’s wrong with him?”. Iroh sighed “he wanted me to fire lightning at him but I refused and now he’s heading out into the middle of a storm”. You frowned looking up at the sky, it was drizzling but it didn’t seem like storm weather. "I’ll go after him, see if I can get him to calm down" you suggested and Iroh nodded “thank you y/n”.
As you rushed after Zuko you were hit with the irony that this was what you always seemed to be doing. Following Zuko around, trying to calm him down, but that’s was friends did. When Zuko was banished you weren’t sure if it was the thought of being truly alone in the fire nation or just all the pain and sadness you knew he must be feeling but for some reason you demanded to go with him. The whole point of a banishment was to make people leave not stay and so you managed to talk your way into accompanying Zuko easily. You helped Iroh nurse Zuko back to health from his injury and it was really hard at first. When his burn was fresh it was so angry and painful but Ozai didn’t let you have the royal physician work on him. It was mainly up to you and Iroh and you did everything you could. At first the main worry was if Zuko would lose his eyesight or even his eye but Iroh managed to save both. When Zuko did wake up he was in excruciating pain constantly and it killed you to see him lie so clearly wreathing in pain but refusing to show it. He thought he deserved it and that killed you further. You wanted to shake him and yell that it wasn’t his fault, that it was Ozai’s but Zuko had a problem seeing who his father was. You’d given up trying to tell him and for the sake of your friendship decided to just support him, Iroh assured you Zuko would eventually realise the truth of everything and you prayed he was right.
You continued following Zuko but through the countryside but he was moving very quickly and you struggled to gain any ground on him. Soon Zuko disappeared from your view altogether and you just carried on hoping you’d find him. Iroh was right and soon the light rain turned into a downpour. Then the lightning started and you jumped every time a bolt boomed across the valley. If it was anyone else the lightning would’ve scared you off but Zuko was your closest friend, you had to find him. Your foot slipped as another lightning bolt lit up the sky and you sighed but continued to follow the direction Zuko had gone in. You were beginning to give up finding him when you came to the top of the hill and saw him stood on a cliff edge. You paused taken back at the sight and then you realised what he was yelling. He was  screaming for lightning to hit him, sobbing and yelling at the storm to strike him. He looked the most broken you’d ever seen him. Even worse than when he was first banished, at least then he’d had a mission he pretended was reasonable, now as a fugitive hiding from Azula as well as the earth kingdom he didn’t have that. He didn’t have any hope. Zuko was broken and Ozai had done this to him. The thought alone brought tears to your eyes and reaffirmed the fierce protectiveness you felt for him. "Zuko!" you yelled through the storm and somehow he heard you. He turned around shocked before returning his gaze to the lightning "what are you doing here y/n?". "I’m making sure you’re not doing anything stupid like trying to get hit by lightning". Zuko didn’t respond to your joke "go back y/n" he said simply and you paused. "No i...Zuko this is dangerous the storm is really close". "So go" Zuko said yelling at you now. He was angry at the world and you were the nearest thing for him to vent it through.  "I don’t want you here i didn’t ask you to come with me! If it’s so dangerous then go! You never should've come here with me anyway, you should be back in the fire nation not here with me". "Wait why is this about me leaving the fire nation with you?" you asked and Zuko glared. "Because you and my uncle are always so selfless, it makes me sick! You changed your whole lives for me, you helped me recover from my burn you both try and appease me but it’s useless! I will never accomplish my mission, i will never be able to take us back home! I’ve ruined both of your lives and seeing you trying to help me makes me sick with anger. I can’t fix it y/n, i can't repair the damage, i can’t get my honour back, I can’t" he yelled and collapsed on his knees shaking with tears. You wrapped your arms around him and held him as he carried on sobbing. "No wonder father prefers Azula i’m useless! Useless, useless" he carried on hitting the ground with his fists until you grabbed them so he couldn’t. Zuko kept repeating the world useless however and so you just held onto him tightly as he cried. Eventually he stopped talking and just sobbed into your neck. You were crying too seeing him so defeated and just held onto him tightly. The rain was mercilessly pelting you both but you didn’t even register it, you were too focused on what was happening to your best friend. "You’re not alone and you’re not useless" you told him "we don’t care for you because we think you’ll save us but because we love you, you are worth it Zuko" you told him raising his face to yours "you are worthy". Zuko just stared so you hugged him again and Zuko clutched you tightly. The rain showed no signs of stopping and after a close lightning bolt you managed to get Zuko to stand and come with you. You found shelter in a small cave and led him inside. Zuko collapsed on the floor as soon as he was inside and you helped him lean against the side of the cave. He was shaking and still crying so you wrapped your arms around him again. Zuko leant into you and you patted his back trying to soothe him. Finally Zuko stopped crying but he didn’t move away from you. You supposed he needed the comfort and had no intention of denying him that...but you were still so close to all the rain and cold. Your feet and hands were freezing and you were itching to make a fire and move further into the cave. After waiting as long as you could you spoke softly "Zuko we should make a fire....you’re freezing". Zuko got off you without a word and followed you as you walked further into the cave. You found the makings of an old campfire and the wood lit instantly. Zuko moved closer to the fire and sat hunched over his knees. You came to sit beside him and silence settled. You were sure he must be hungry and searched through your bag for some food. It was soaked but you managed to find an only slightly damp packet of fire flakes at the bottom. You opened it and held it out to Zuko. He glanced at you over his shoulder and you shook it "we won’t be able to travel in this weather so we'll be stuck here for the night, i’m sorry but this is the only food i have". Zuko sniffed "it’s okay" and took a handful. You both sat munching on the food quietly until it was all gone. You added the packet to the flame and tried warming your hands on the fire. "You’re shivering" Zuko noticed and you shrugged "it’s okay". "No it’s not, you’re soaking wet and trapped in this cave all because of me". You shook your head "not because of you, yes i choose to follow you but not because I had to. I did it because i wanted to, i’m not your responsibility". Zuko shrugged "i guess but you wouldn’t be in this mess if it wasn’t for me". You knew he actually meant this whole situation not just the cave and sighed worried he still blamed himself. "Maybe but we are here so the only thing to do is to make the best of it, how about we try to sleep? Things will look better in the morning". Zuko didn’t reply but you laid down close to the fire and hoped he’d copy you. "Make the best of it" you heard Zuko mutter "okay". Zuko suddenly grabbed your shoulders and began dragging you to the side of the fire nearest the cave opening. "What are you doing?" you asked laughing and Zuko smiled "making the best of it, if we have to sleep here then you should be near the fire but we also need to make sure it doesn’t go out so we’ll block the wind with our bodies and still get the benefit of the fire”. The wind blew angrily against your back and you frowned before Zuko sat down putting himself between it and you. He blocked the cold and the fire’s warmth was more noticeable. "Better?" he asked and you nodded "thanks". A massive lightning bolt struck right outside the cave and your whole body jumped. Zuko laughed “what was that?”. “I...I hate lightning”. “What since when?” Zuko asked and you shrugged “since forever, i can usually hide it when i’m safe inside but when I’m in the middle of a storm....” you trailed off when another bolt struck and you flinched again. They seemed to be getting closer. Zuko smirked “it’s okay it can’t get us in here”. You nodded “i know that but...”. Zuko paused and cautiously put an arm around you “does this help?”. You managed not to blush but you couldn’t look at his face. “I...yes”. Zuko nodded and he smiled slightly before pausing. "Y/n about today....". "It’s okay" you said immediately but Zuko shook his head. "No it’s not, i didn’t mean to yell at you but i did and that was wrong. I’m so sorry". "You were just upset" you shrugged and Zuko nodded "i was but you are not the person to direct that at, all you and my uncle have ever done is be there for me, even changing your whole lives for me and i guess i feel guilty about that, like i’ve dragged you down with me". "You didn’t drag me anywhere i came willingly and so did your uncle because we care about you, you don’t have to be held responsible for that, we don’t hold you to that and so you shouldn’t. We made our decision and neither of us would change it". "Really you’d still decide to follow me out here in the storm?" Zuko asked with a smirk. "I’d like to say yes but i can’t feel my toes". Zuko laughed but noticed you were indeed still shivering. Zuko moved closer to you again and tightened his grip on you. You didn’t manage to hide your blush this time but luckily Zuko was looking away to also hide his own blush so he didn’t notice. "Thank you" Zuko said suddenly "that’s what i’m trying to say....i don’t know what i did to deserve someone like you in my life but somehow you’re here and i want to thank you, i don’t do it enough but thank you for being with me, for not giving up on me, it means a lot". "I’ll always be here for you" you smiled. "Really?" Zuko asked smiling, you knew he was joking but could also hear the sharp undertone of his voice, that part that was seriously asking, scared you didn’t mean it. "Always" you nodded and laid a hand on his cheek. Zuko’s blush deepened and you pretended not to notice. "We should go to sleep” you smiled and Zuko nodded still pink "erm good idea". You lowered your head against his chest to hide your smirk at Zuko’s awkwardness and folded into his side. With the rain pouring outside and the warm fire you were actually very comfortable. Zuko seemed to be too and you smiled as he stroked your arm absentmindedly "goodnight y/n" he said softly and you smiled "goodnight Zuko".

Double edged scalpel ch.9
Tumblr media
Ch.1 ch.2 ch.3 ch.4 ch.5 ch.6 ch.7 ch.8
Summary: Nicole needs a painkiller.
---
"Mother, please!"
God that was loud. Or far. It was a confusing mix of both. The sound reached her ears muffled, but even that was enough to make the fuzz in her brain even worse.
It took an enormous amount of effort to finally figure out who that voice belonged to, the desperate tone so uncharacteristic. Cassandra of course.
Her eyelids felt too heavy to open, so Nicole just tried to shift towards the voice. That plan turned out to be a huge mistake as with the smallest movement, her body seemed to short circuit. Her side felt like it was on fire, sending waves of pain that made her let out a choked pained moan.
Then, she realized, there were other voices surrounding her. She couldn't make out whether or not it was addressed to her let alone what was being said.
She did try though.
Consciousness was starting to slowly make its way into her mind. With great strain she even managed to open her eyes, harsh light making her groan.
"Oh she's awake."
"Hey, try not to move."
Nicole frowned, trying to focus on the two blurry figures by her side. When her brain finally managed to decipher familiar blonde and ginger hair she let out a sigh.
Bela was in a chair by her side, holding her in place by a shoulder while Daniela was lower down, pressing a white cloth to her abdomen.
Her bloody abdomen.
Panic started to course through her veins when she noticed the crimson mess on her skin and the sheets underneath her. What had happened? Where was she and where was Cassandra?
Sensing her intention to stir again, Bela pushed down on her shoulders to keep her still.
"I said don't move."
"Yeahh, I feel like blood loss may be an issue for you. Don't worry though, Mother will be here soon… I think," Daniela said, hands still keeping the cloth pressed to her wound. It made her wince.
On any normal day, that phrase would've probably shot a wave of terror through her. But in that moment the pain and fog in her mind didn't leave room for much more than confusion. "Mothe-... what?"
Daniela shrugged. "Sorry we uh- don't exactly have the tools to pull out bullets. Mother usually takes care of that."
"Now pray dear Cassie can convince her that your life is worth the trouble."
Nicole really didn't know what was worse. Bleeding out or having Lady Dimitrescu prod around at her wound. She tried not to shudder at the thought. Not that she really had time to finish that train of thought as the door opened and none other than the lady of the castle entered.
The only thing that kept her from whimpering was the sight of Cassandra entering right after, hurried steps taking her to Nicole. She gingerly sat on the bed and pushed a couple auburn strands of hair out of her face. When she spoke, her voice was dripping with worry that she tried to morph into something soft.
“It’s okay, Mother will take care of the bullet and then we can patch it up and you’ll be alright.”
Was she trying to convince her or herself? It mattered little, as the words did a good enough job at keeping Nicole’s focus on something not horrible.
She nodded weakly, trying to keep her eyes on Cassandra and not on Lady Dimitrescu wiping her hands somewhere near the bed. She gulped when she felt the bed dip and with her peripheral she could see claws elongating. No more than a few inches but it was enough to make Nicole consider the option of digging around for the bullet herself.
“Here, wouldn’t want you to chip a tooth.” Bela caught her off guard when she pressed a piece of cloth to her lips.
Nicole bit down and let out a muffled yelp when Daniela moved away to make space for her mother, who only sighed at the bloody mess. The talons were brought right above the wound.
“Keep her still darlings.”
All the warning Nicole got was hands clamping around her arms and legs, before razor sharp talons plunged into raw flesh.
She didn’t even realize that she was screaming, until the damp fabric in her mouth almost made her gag. Eyesight also proved itself a traitorous thing, as it was rapidly turning into fuzzy black splotches so Nicole squeezed her eyes shut.
The sensation of the Lady’s talons digging around inside the muscle was indescribably gut wrenching. Every single movement, no matter how small, sent jolts of pain through her body, drawing out pathetic sobs. When claws finally grabbed the bullet, the metal scraping almost made Nicole throw up, but she made the effort to swallow down the bile, as being shot was already bad enough without choking on her own vomit.
The bullet was ripped out unceremoniously and that’s when her body finally decided that it had had enough and shut down. Her muscles went limp and consciousness finally slipped away from her one again.
Lady Dimitrescu simply stood up and wiped her now bloody hand with a tissue. Her golden gaze softened once it landed on her middle daughter, her shaky hands caressing a damp cheek and mumbling words of encouragement to an unconscious Nicole. She gingerly put a hand on Cassandra’s shoulder.
“We can talk more once she wakes up.”
“Thank you Mother.” Cassandra’s voice was uncharacteristically small and she refused to meet her eyes. Lady Dimitrescu simply let her be, shifting her focus to the youngest daughter instead.
“Daniela dear, can you wrap it up?”
“Of course!” She sprung up, grabbing a few medical tools and bandages and starting to close up the wound.
---
The first thing Nicole was aware of was the utterly uncomfortable dampness of her skin. She felt as if she had run a marathon and then immediately jumped into bed, sheets sticking to her skin. The second sensation that came barreling in together with consciousness was the pain radiating from her abdomen. Of course.
She winced as she tried unsuccessfully to shift just a little in a more comfortable spot. Alright, laying in her own sweat. Wonderful. Next best thing?
Opening her eyes. Right, right.
She tentatively cracked one eye open, getting some semblance of relief from the dim light inside the room. It was probably close to sundown and her surroundings were illuminated by beautiful orange hues.
Nicole looked around the room. It wasn’t one that she was familiar with so she assumed it was one of the many guest bedrooms in the castle. Trying to piece together her hazy memories, she deduced that Cassandra probably just brought her to the closest room that had a surface to lay on.
Next thing her eyes landed on was the bandage around her waist. She gingerly traced a finger over the wound and winced when they brushed over stitches. She really ought to teach Daniela proper stitching. Not that I’m complaining.
The door swung open startling Nicole, who put all her effort into not flinching. Cassandra came in with hasty steps, reading the labels of one of the boxes she had in her hands. Golden eyes snapped to the bed when she heard Nicole stirring.
“Nicole you're awake- How do you feel?”
The redhead just took a deep breath, that was apparently too big of an offense to her wound. “Like shit.”
Cassandra just chucked and came to sit by her side. "I sent one of the maids to buy some painkillers. Not sure which one's better though." She once again brought one of the boxes to her face with a huff.
"Pass me the papers inside."
Cassandra did so, taking out the folded papers from each box and handing it over to Nicole. After scanning over the text, she picked one that she assumed would do its thing the quickest. The pain was starting to make her seriously consider knocking herself out for some sweet sweet unconsciousness.
After swallowing the pill with nothing but saliva and sheer exhaustion, she let her hand fall on the bed. There, Cassandra grabbed it, fingers playing with hers in a manner that Nicole has learned was the brunette's way of fidgeting when nervous. What on earth could she be nervous about?
"Hey, I'm okay. Just need some rest and wait for these bad boys to kick in." She started to rub small circles on top of the wrist with her thumb.
"My moms want to talk with you," Cassandra blurted.

From the beginning to the very end.
Seeing the one you love fall for someone else hurts.
Pairing: Diluc X GN reader (unrequited), mentioned Kaeya x reader (not focused on) Words: 3.3K Warnings/ tags: Alcohol/ drinking mention, unrequited love, reader drinks to cope at one point, general angst. a/n: This was requested by anon. I’ve taken the prompt and altered it a bit, Kaeya and Diluc are both emotionally complicated men *sigh* Someone help them.
Your arrival into Diluc’s life is with all the grace of a baby fawn attempting to stand. Choppy. Awkward. A tad pitiable.
It’s a Friday night at Angel’s Share. The worst ones to be bartender, and precisely why Diluc always drags himself into town to suffer for a few hours. It’s the days where the knights, both seniors and new recruits, gather to spend their weekly wages of mora. He knows the tradition well, after his time with the knights. He used to always sit in the back corner with Kaeya, the two giggling as they drank non-alcoholic cider.
…but the past is the past, and he refuses to dwell on it any further.
They trickle in sometime around 9pm. They’re easy to spot. Uniforms too pristine, armor too shiny. He watches as wide-eyed recruits alongside experienced knights file into the reserved table at the back.
The brave one is sent from the flock to the bar, to order drinks for the table. Diluc gives you his best intimidating stare, arms crossed over his chest. You fiddle with the front of your uniform as you approach the bar, nervously shifting from foot to foot.
“Hello Sir, uh, could I have uhm…” you take a second to count on your fingers. “Ten drinks, please?”
Well, at least you can get your sentence out. (Sawyer, one of the new recruits from a few months back, mumbled everything. It took Diluc ten minutes to figure out what he wanted.) “What kind?”
“Oh…the regular kind?”
He could make this easier on you, but he decidedly doesn’t. “There is no regular kind. Dandelion wine? Lamp-Grass cider?”
“Uh, ten glasses of dandelion wine, please.”
He raises a brow. “Everyone is of age, even the recruits?”
“Oh, yes, the younger ones’ curfew ended an hour ago.”
One quick glance over proves your truth. Fine. He gets the drinks ready quite easily. It’s just pouring wine from the barrels into their tankers. Once he has them on a tray, he says, “Ten thousand Mora.”
“Oh…uh…” you stare at your feet in embarrassment, apparently just realizing that yes drinks cost mora. “I-“
“If you can’t pay,” he starts, annoyance seeping into his voice. “Then I suggest you get out.
Maybe that was a bit too harsh. Your jaw clenches. Your hands tighten into fists. Diluc thinks you’re about to burst into tears or run out the front door when a hand lands on your shoulder.
“Not to worry, I’ll cover the costs for this.”
Of course. He’d be here, of all nights.
You look to your saviour, lighting up. “Oh, thank you, Captain Kaeya.”
Kaeya smiles amicably, patting your shoulder. “My pleasure. Join the others, I’ll carry the drinks there shortly.”
You hurry off to the table, not one to disobey your superior’s orders. Diluc and Kaeya are left alone at the bar, the former frowning, the later smiling.
Kaeya places a sack of mora on the counter. “Feel free to count it, every coin is in there.”
Diluc snatches it, tossing it under the cabinet. (Kaeya always pays in full. Either that or he purposely omits a single coin, just to fuck with him. But it’s not worth it for Diluc to count ten thousand coins individually.)
“Corrupting fresh recruits already, aren’t you?” Diluc says.
Kaeya chuckles dryly. “Why, Master Diluc, I’d never do such an atrocious thing.”
Kaeya picks up the tray before Diluc can make some sort of witty retort. “Now, I’ve got to amuse myself. Enjoy your night, Master Diluc.”
Kaeya remains out of his hair for the rest of the night. By all accounts, it’s a good thing, but tonight, it only makes Diluc moodier. Especially when he glances over at the knights table, spotting the captain’s arm strung over the back of your chair.
---
“What on earth are you doing?”
You jump, turning to face Diluc, leaning against the nearby tree. He’d been patrolling the area for threats when he’d noticed you, swinging your sword about in the middle of Windrise. The fact that he’d managed to catch you by surprise unnerved him. (You were a knight; you’d need to learn to be alert.)
“Practicing, Master Diluc.” You wipe the sweat from your face with your shirt and Diluc quickly averts his eyes to a group of slimes slugging around the Anemo Arcon Statue. He’d have to deal with them later.
“Don’t the knights have a dedicated training area?” They do. He knows this, outside the city walls or on the northern shores of Cider Lake, he used to go there and take recruits when he was a captain, make them run up and down the sloping hills all afternoon in full armour.
“Ah, they do, yes, but I mostly prefer to train alone.”
Diluc chews on your words for a moment, before pushing off from the tree and striding towards you. “Hold your sword again.”
You hesitate, drawing your sword and holding it like you were doing previously.
Diluc covers his hands with yours, moving them along the sword. “Adjust your hands like this. You’ll have more force when you swing and you’re less likely to hurt yourself if you hit something solid.”
He steps back, allowing you to swing a few times in the air. “Use your chest more, not just your arms – good. Again.”
About an hour passes, with Diluc giving instructions, doing a very bad job of hiding his stares, and with you doing as he says. He doesn’t realize how long it’s been until you sheath your sword, and the sun has set over the horizon.
“I apologize, Master Diluc, but I’ve got to get back to the headquarters now.”
“Oh.” He says, stupidly. Of course, you’d have to leave, to go back to the knights, but that thought hadn’t crossed his mind. “I see, yes. I suppose you should.”
You bow respectfully. “Thank you for your help, you really are as sweet as Captain Kaeya says.”
He suppresses the growl that rises from his throat. Figures, Kaeya would call him that. “Mhm.”
You salute him, the standard knight’s salute. He nods his head as you start back towards Mondstadt, pondering why he decided to help you, until you fade from sight.
---
He swears, he doesn’t mean to keep meeting you like this.
He had been exploring an abandoned domain north of Wolvendom, looking for any members of the abyss order. Fortunately – or unfortunately, there hadn’t been anything but slimes and old artifacts inside, and he’d come out soaked head to toe with water.
He was starting up the path when he saw you huddled by an electro crystal, poking it with your sword and jolting back when it shocked you.
“…you can’t break those with normal attacks,” he says. “They’re elemental crystals.”
You turn around, not surprised by his sudden presence (good, you’re learning.) “You can break them?”
Arcons, do they not teach the knights anything anymore?
Instead of arguing, he simply demonstrates, calling flames to his claymore and slicing the rock. An explosion of pyro and electro occurs, shattering the crystal into purple chunks.
You gape at the crystals. “Wow, you’re amazing, Master Diluc.”
He flushes at your praise, coughing and adjusting his tie. “It’s nothing. What are you interested in with the crystals anyways?”
“Captain Albedo requested them. I guess I’ll have to get outrider amber to gather them, or klee, perhaps…'' you collect the chunks into a small bag, standing up and brushing the dust from your pants. “Thank you again, Master Diluc. You always seem to be helping me out a lot.”
“It’s no trouble,” he says, swallowing for a moment. His throat feels tight and his palms are sweating in his gloves.
You salute him. He nods. They’re your usual goodbyes, nowadays. He watches you march off, the crystals clinking around in your bag.
“Wait,” he splutters, the objection coming from his throat without thinking.
You turn around, waiting expectantly. Diluc swallows, again. (When did he get so warm?)
“Next time, please just call me Diluc.”
You blink carefully, then smile. “Alright, Diluc.”
The sound of his name on your tongue makes his heart race and sends electricity through his stomach.
(And not just because of the nearby electro crystals.)
---
Two days later, a bag of purple electro crystals appears at your doorstep in the Knight’s headquarters. There is no name from the sender, but you suspect who it is from the emblem of the dawn winery logo upon the bag.
You smile to yourself, then hurry to deliver the goods to Captain Albedo.
---
“Do you have a crush on someone, Master Diluc?”
He nearly drops his teacup in his lap, sputtering into his drink. Adeline doesn’t even flinch, handing him a handkerchief to wipe his mouth with. His owl preens herself on its stand, indifferent to her master’s squabbling.
“P-pardon?”
“I asked if you had a crush on anyone.”
“…what would make you consider that?”
She clears the table swiftly, shrugging. “You seem to be in good spirits. You’ve been smiling more, and you’re more pleasant.”
He frowns. “Are you suggesting I’m usually moody?”
Adelinde’s face remains blank. “Not at all, sir.”
She bows and leaves him to his thoughts and paperwork.
A crush. Ridiculous…he’s not a schoolboy. And besides, he hasn’t been acting differently. Sure, he’s taken more shifts on Friday night, and he’s been visiting Windrise more often in hopes of maybe running into a certain knight, but that doesn’t mean anything. It’s all justifiable.
His owl cocks her head at him, even she knows when he’s lying to himself.
“…don’t look at me like that.” He huffs, turning around in his desk, back facing the owl.
---
Once the thought is in Diluc’s head, he can’t get it out. It doesn’t help that over the next few months, your presence around him only amplifies his feelings.
Every breath you take, every little movement you make - it transfixes him. He feels drawn to you naturally, wanting to be closer to you, coming up with more and more ridiculous topic ideas just so he can hear you speak.
He feels happy. He begins looking forward to the next day and the next week, not apprehensive about what new problems might arise.
And just as soon as he’s settled into the norm, the world decides to rip it away from him.
---
The knights file into their usual spots on a friday night. Diluc greets them with the same, stiff nods, except this time, his scowl isn’t as deep, and the furrow in his brows is loose. For the knights coming to celebrate means that he might have a chance to see you.
And he does. Diluc can’t stop the way his lips turn upwards when the door swings open and you file in. You give a wave, he nods back.
He does his best to not stare as you socialize with the other knights - (there really are a lot of them here tonight. Even Captain Albedo is among them) - but he fails miserably. So much so that he forgets to serve the other patrons up front.
It’s a relief when you eventually wander over to the bar. You don’t even need to tell him your order anymore - he just gets to doing it immediately.
“Big celebration?” he asks.
You slide into the seat and smile. “I suppose you could say that.”
He raises a brow and pushes the drinks towards you, leaning on the bar. “Oh? Is it a knights secret I’m not privy to know about?”
You swat at him harmlessly and his breathing hitches at your chuckle. “No, not a secret. It’s just nice to celebrate for celebration's sake, you know?”
He does not, but nods anyways. “I suppose it is. In any case, you seem very happy.”
You cover your growing smile with your hand. “Do I?”
“Yes, did you get a promotion? Replace Kaeya as Cavalry Captain?”
“No! No, nothing like that…” you laugh and shake your head. “But Kaeya…”
He hadn’t expected his joke to actually hold some truth. He presses, “Kaeya?”
“Well, we -” you avert your gaze, eyes softening in bliss. “We’re um - a thing. Now.”
Diluc pales, nearly falling off the bar.
“Oh.”
“Yes...please keep it a secret, we don’t want anyone knowing just yet.”
Diluc’s head spins. It feels like a lump of coal is stuck in his throat. He swallows and tries to stop his breaths from becoming erratic.
“Congratulations… I hope-” his voice cracks and he clears his throat. “I wish the best for the both of you.”
“Thank you, Diluc.” you reach over and pat his hand. He barely conceals a flinch, wanting to rip it away. “
You walk back to the knights, and for the rest of the night, he operates on autopilot, picking at the remaining shattered pieces of his heart.
---
It hurts.
Rain and sweat get in his eyes. He ducks to avoid a swing of a club, swinging his fiery claymore in retaliation. He doesn’t know how long he’s been here, only that his hands are numb from gripping his weapon for so long. A long gash runs up his side, stinging each time he moves.
The ache in his chest hurts more.
How naive, how silly, to entertain the idea that you’d ever like him back.
Diluc closes his eyes, and consumes himself in violence once more.
---
He doesn’t frequent the bar for the next week. Enough to collect his thoughts. Enough to smother the pang of hurt he feels whenever he gazes at you.
He’s above this, above being debilitated by his emotions.
(He knows he is not.)
---
Things get better, as they always do. Things always go back to a level of normal. He returns to work at the bar. He returns to looking forward to your visits.
The front door swings open. He expectantly turns, smile dying on his face when he sees who’s entered.
“Jeez. You think I’ve just murdered someone how you’re looking at me,” Kaeya sighs.
“What do you want?” Kaeya’s the last person he wants to see. Especially since - since -
“Can’t I just drop by for a drink?” Kaeya takes his seat at the corner of the bar. Diluc resists the urge to throw the glass in his hand. He never gets to the point, always meandering about the issue, chatting about this or that until the other party is exhausted trying to humour him.
Not Diluc.
“You’re never here to just drink. Out with it.”
“…I was just wondering how you feel about our newest knight.”
He inhales through his teeth and sets the glass he was polishing down. Fine, if that’s the game Kaeya was going to play, he’d play along. “I think it’s improper for you to be engaged in a relationship with your subordinates.”
Kaeya grimaces, keeping his eye on the wood counter. “Do you say that because you care for workplace standards, or are you perhaps-”
“No.”
“ - jealous?”
The towl ignites in his hands. “Fuck off. Get out of my bar. Now.”
Kaeya sighs, but gets up from his seat, hands raised. “Alright, fine...but If it’s any consultation, I understand how you feel.”
“You don’t get to know where I’m coming from,” each word feels like acid down Diluc’s throat. “You don’t ever get to understand how I feel.”
Kaeya smiles sadly. “I know. And because of that, I’m not gonna come in the way between you two.”
Kaeya opens the door and waves before Diluc can question him. “Good night, master Diluc.”
The door shuts behind him as he leaves. Diluc tosses the towel in the trash, blood boiling underneath his skin.
---
He doesn’t see much of you or Kaeya for a week. (Which he supposes is good. If he saw Kaeya now, Barbados wouldn’t be able to stop him from getting into a fight.)
The next time he sees you is late one night, when most of the patrons have left. You look a mess, hair disheveled, feet dragging against the floor. You mumble your order to him before dragging yourself upstairs, one foot at a time.
Diluc brings what you requested up – one of his strongest liquors – to find you staring off into space. He sets your glass down gently, and you snap from your reprieve.
“Here’s your order. If you need anything…just let me know.”
You nod, keeping your eyes focused downwards. “Thank you, Diluc.”
His heart breaks at how defeated you sound. He returns to his post for the remainder of the night.
Never once does the cavalry captain come in. Diluc has a bad feeling in the pit of his stomach.
It’s many hours later when the tavern closes for the night. Diluc shucks on his coat and goes upstairs, finding you half-asleep on the table, empty glass clutched tight in your grasp.
He shakes you gently and you stir with a moan. “It’s closing time. Do you need help getting home?”
You laugh bitterly. “Where is ‘home’?”
Diluc wordlessly slips the glass from your hands. “Come on, let’s get you back to the knights headquarters.”
Exhausted, you relent, leaning on Diluc heavily as he escorts you out of Angel’s Share. The smell of alcohol is strong on both your breath and clothes. It makes Diluc’s nose wrinkle.
You stumble over stones and steps. The walk back to the knights headquarters takes twice as long as it normally would. Diluc doesn’t mind, instinctively activating his vision when he feels you shiver from the cold.
“I thought Kaeya loved me,” you say suddenly, resting your head on his shoulder. “He said he…”
Diluc doesn’t – can’t – say anything, not when the lump of guilt in his stomach threatens to tear him apart from the inside out.
---
Truthfully, he’d thought you would have left the Knights after that incident. It must have been beyond difficult - having to see the person who broke your heart every day.
But you don’t. Diluc already knew how determined and strong you are, and you prove to be stronger than he could have ever foresaw.
It’s rough. There are nights where you show up to the tavern, barely coherent and full of grief. But there are others where you show up with Albedo, or Amber, and he gets to see you smile again.
He observes you from afar, at windrise, training with Noelle, getting quicker and quicker with your sword each day.
The seasons come and go, snow falls and melts, and when the dandelions grow again, before he ever knows it, you’re a Captain yourself.
The tavern is full for your celebration. Wine flows freely - free of charge thanks to Diluc - and the air is abuzz with joyous conversation.
“My highest congratulations, Captain,” Diluc says, raising his own glass (non-alcoholic) in toast.
You clink cups with him, smiling in your new uniform. (You’re radiant, he thinks to himself). “I can’t thank you enough, Diluc...for everything. I’ve always seen you as one of my closest friends.”
Friends. The word cuts deeply into his heart. Yes, friends. But being friends is something that he is ok with. He can watch you thrive, watch you live your life, he can keep your presence in his life, a small candle flickering in the dead of winter.
He knows your heart is elsewhere, he sees it in your eyes whenever you see the colour blue, or whenever the scent of death-after-noon waffs through the air. Your grief isn’t as prominent, but still there.
He doesn’t know if your feelings for Kaeya, if you even have any after the breakup, will ever go away. Perhaps they’ll stay over you like a looming shadow for the rest of your life.
If only – he’ll think, on nights when you’ve fallen asleep on his couch, bottle of wine beside you – if only he hadn’t said anything, maybe you’d be happy with Kaeya.
But the past is the path, and he must look to the future. The future where he can stand by your side, in whatever way you’ll accept him.
(Alone from the beginning, alone in the end. Fitting, for someone like him.)

“Minor inconvenience: I fell in love with you” A Wesper fanfiction :)
“Say whaaaat now?!”
Wylan’s cheeks flushed with red as Jesper’s gaze studied him with something between shock and amusement.
They were in a bar together and Wylan had spotted a nice guy, but he hadn’t found the gut to go and talk to him because he had absolutely zero experience. Jesper had tried to encourage him and he’d refused, and after some teasing he’d finally admitted he’d never even given his first kiss. Jesper was absolutely incredulous: that smart, cute red-haired guy had never had a romantic past with anyone? Not even a flirt?!
“What do you want me to say?” asked Wylan, sinking in his own shame: “There’s just never been... the right occasion”
“I get that, but have you never wanted to try it? Even with a stranger, just to know how it feels!”
“I’m not that kind of person, I don’t kiss strangers for selfish reasons”
Jesper rolled his eyes: “Okay prince charming, and what about the guys you’ve liked in the past? None of them?”
Wylan scrolled his head: “I’m an introverted, Jes, you know that. If I like someone I’ll die before even talking to them”
“So what, you just look at them in silence and hope that they will miraculously fall in love with you?”
Wylan shifted uncomfortably on his seat, refusing to answer: yes, that was basically what he did. He was pathetic and he knew it, but what could he do about that?
Jesper stood up, grinning: “Well, Wylan Van Eck, your life as a virgin will be over soon”
Wylan’s eyes wandered fastly in the room, then went back to Jesper: “Don’t talk like that when there’s other people around us”
“My candor is my greatest power” answered the Zemeni with a wink: “I’ll teach you everything I know about flirting, and you’ll never be afraid to talk to a nice guy again”
“What- are you crazy?”
“No”
“Drunk?”
“No”
“High?”
“Stop it! I’m serious!” Jesper smiled: “You are a great guy and I’m sure you just need to learn how to hit on other boys. Once I reveal you all the secrets of love, you’ll be the king. Well, the prince, after me, of course”
Wylan snorted: “Secrets of love? May I remind you we’re the same age?”
“Yes, but I’m fantastic. Learn from the best and you won’t regret it”
“All I’m going to learn from the sorcerer of love is how to be terribly sleazy”
Jesper clutched a hand to his chest: “That offends me! You’ll learn to be spectacularly amazing, just as I am”
Wylan facepalmed, but at the same time he thought: what the hell, what do I have to lose?
“Fine then, if you insist” he conceded with a sigh.
* * * * *
“And that concludes the small talk part”
“Ghezen, that’s so sad”
“Or amazing?”
“Sad”
“Or... amazing?”
Wylan sighed: “Asking someone whether their parents were thieves because their eyes look like stolen stars is so sad. And old. And sleazy”
Jesper smiled, winking with his gleamy eyes: “I assure you it works. It might be obvious, but people just don’t know how to answer and stupidly smile at you”
“I thought they would throw their drink on your face”
“No, they don’t”
“I would”
“But not them”
Wylan sighed again, but this time a slight smile was touching his lips: he was secretly grateful to Jesper because he was teaching him things that were so basic, but which he didn’t know how to handle. Approaching someone, starting a conversation, sending signals of interest without being weird or disrespectful: if he had to be honest, if Jesper had flirted with him with all those techniques it probably would’ve worked. Sure, he would’ve thrown him his drink first, but he would’ve fallen for him, eventually.
“Now the interesting part: kissing”
Wylan suddenly went pale: “What?”
“All that flirting and no action? That’s not what I want for my students to learn”
“But I- I’ve never-”
“I know, that’s why we’re going to find someone to practice with”
Wylan snorted: “I’m not going to kiss a stranger! Are you out of your mind?”
Jesper rolled his eyes: “Jeez, Wylan, you’re so prudish! Live a little!”
“I’m not kissing a stranger. End of argument”
Jesper huffed: he was loving to share his knowledge on the subject and he was also proud of Wylan for getting over his shyness at least with him. The merchling was a handsome guy and Jesper was sure that with a little more confidence the entire world would fall to his feet. But, jeez, how hard it was.
“I can’t teach you how to kiss if you have no one to do it with”
“I’ll kiss you then”
Silence fell between the two: Wylan had spoken before he could even realize what his words meant, and now he was terrified of what he’d said and trying to avoid Jesper’s eye contact; Jesper, on the other hand, wasn’t embarassed at all, just surprised at his friend’s suggestion.
Wylan talked first: “I didn’t mean-”
“No, it’s fine by me” Jesper stopped him before he could get any more red: “It’ll be easier to understand whether you’re doing it right”
Wylan gazed at him, unsure of what to say: “Are you... sure?”
Jesper winked: “Anything for you, my friend”
They got ready to practice: Jesper explained some basic “rules” about kissing and some moves he thought were gracefully good and that would make the kiss unique and mostly unforgettable. He saw Wylan’s eyes gleaming at the thought of doing that and his heart softened: he was so pure, definitely too cute for this world. Jesper made a mental note to threaten every guy the redhead would find because they should treat him like a prince or else-
The Zemeni smiled at Wylan, sure that what he was going to say would make his friend’s brain crash for some seconds.
“Now we have to put all this in action. Time to kiss, loveboy”
Wylan shifted uncomfortably on his feet and his cheeks went pinker.
Predictable. Cute, but predictable.
“All right. What should I... should we...”
Jesper placed a hand on Wylan’s shoulder and he stepped forward to face him. He smiled, but not his usual, smart, all-knowing grin: the merchling had seen that emotion few times before on Jesper’s features. He was simply honest.
“Please, promise not to freak out. It’s just you and me and we’re practising. C’mon now”
Wylan nodded and took a deep breath, then leaned forward with his head and, after hesitating for the barest second, he gently touched Jesper’s lips for a brief moment. He closed his eyes and left a kiss there, then pulled away, his heart racing in his chest for no apparent reason.
Jesper felt something in his stomach as well: he felt like that sweet, innocent, small touch was the best kiss he’d ever had. And he’d had a lot. What was happening? He cleared his throat and laughed: “That’s all you have? I’ve taught you better, I hope!”
Wylan mentally asked his heart to please stop playing the rock ‘n roll like a drummer, then timidly smiled: “It’s not easy, give me time”
But Jesper didn’t want to wait: he knew what to expect, he knew how the kisses he gave were, and he really wanted that from Wylan’s lips. Just blind desire, he told himself. You just want a good old fashioned kiss, that’s all.
Wylan breathed again, then, with less hesitation than before, he met Jesper’s lips with his and started kissing him. He felt the Zemeni kissing him back, though not in the passionate way he’d expected: he was just answering to his movements, he wasn’t forcing anything. Such a good teacher.
When he felt ready enough, Wylan tipped with his tongue on Jesper’s lower lip and the sharpshooter opened his mouth and let their tongues touch timidly at first, the merchling experiencing all of that for the first time and taking his time to get more confident. He let out a shaky breath, insecurity already taking place in his body, but Jesper felt that and cupped Wylan’s face in his hands, gently brushing his cheeks with his thumbs and feeling his muscles relax.
Wylan summoned some courage then and deepened their connection, dancing in Jesper’s mouth, pushing forward for more contact, letting his instinct take control over his overthinking mind. He put his hands on Jesper’s chest and he pushed him with his back against the wall, something new blossoming in his chest, some unknown desire running down his spine.
Wylan felt good. It wasn’t just the kiss - he had no experience, sure, but he was pretty sure he was making a pretty good job. The whole situation felt right: the fact that the lips he was kissing were Jesper’s, the fact that the body he was trapping between him and the wall was Jesper’s, just Jesper himself. It was all right because Jesper was the one there with him. And Wylan was starting to think it wasn’t because they were good friends. Almost definitely not.
On the other hand, Jesper was in a total black out, error 404, not found: he was lost in Wylan’s lips and he wasn’t going to look for a way back, he was just focusing on their moment, there and now, on Wylan’s sudden bravery, on the warmth of his body, on the sweet flavour of his mouth. He didn’t know what was happening - or better: he did, but he was too busy to focus on what his actual feelings towards his friend were.
When Wylan pulled away, desperately looking for some oxygen to send to his lungs, Jesper leaned his forehead on Wylan’s, eyes closed, and he laughed: “Well, damn well done, I’d say. Looks like the student bested the teacher”
Wylan laughed, his cheeks already pink for the kiss, then leaned one hand on Jesper’s cheek, meeting his gaze: “That felt good. I think I’ve learned something, after all”
Jesper cleared his throat, then said in a whisper: “Gotta be honest, I’ve never had such a great kiss”
“Must be because I used your technique and you think you’re the best” answered Wylan, smiling.
“Well, I do love myself, but...” Jesper didn’t break the eye contact and smiled back “I don’t know what happened, but that wasn’t me. You were passionate, for sure, but there was something... I don’t know, soft? It was your kiss, your way to do it. Turns out you’re a natural”
Wylan laughed: “For what it’s worth, I think I was able to be myself just thanks to you”
“Well, then you should...” Jesper hesitated “Try it with someone else?”
The merchling studied the Zemeni carefully: he looked reluctant at the thought, he... didn’t want him to kiss someone else? He smiled, thinking about how his own heart raced, how his own body longed for that contact with Jeper again and again. Wylan also thought about how Jesper had reacted to his kiss, about what he’d just told him.
What if the hearts going crazy in that room were two?
Wylan grinned then, an eyebrow raised: he took a step forward and he reached Jesper’s face, stopping a few inches from his lips: “What if I wanted to kiss you again? And not just to practice?”
Jesper softly laughed: “Saints, you’re savage, Van Eck, I’ve unleashed a beast”
“You-”
Wylan couldn’t finish because this time Jesper kissed him first. He smiled in their kiss, and they both felt as good as they never had before.
He’d learned well, after all.

IOTA Reviews: Guiltrip
Tumblr media
So, my week has been hell. In addition to working night and day on final essays for my classes, I've been really busy at work lately, and the second COVID vaccine shot really took a lot out of me this week. And that's not even getting into the bureaucratic nonsense that comes with applying for the MTEL which is slowly making me wonder if I actually want to teach in the first place.
But, despite all that, there was a single light of hope this week that almost made it all worth it.
STAR WARS: THE BAD BATCH, BABY!
OH MY GOD, THIS SHOW IS AMAZING! I ALWAYS LOVED THE CLONE-CENTRIC EPISODES OF THE CLONE WARS, AND NOW WE GET AN ENTIRE SHOW ABOUT AN ELITE TEAM OF THEM? KICKASS! AND IT TAKES PLACE AFTER ORDER 66 WITH GRAND MOFF TARKIN AS THE MAIN VILLAIN? SWEET MOTHER OF GEORGE LUCAS, I CAN'T WAIT! I DON'T EVEN CARE THAT THEY TRADED IN THE COOL SNIPER CLONE FOR SOME LITTLE GIRL CLONE, I ALREADY WANT TO SEE MORE THAN THE TWO EPISODES WE GOT SO FAR! GOD, I LOVE THIS SHOW!
Oh yeah, there was also a new episode of Miraculous Ladybug that aired on the same day too, I guess. It was pretty good. Hell of a lot better than the past three episodes I've sat through.
Let's get into the fifth (chronologically the eleventh) episode of Miraculous Ladybug's fourth season: Guiltrip
We start off in the middle of class where we see Marinette looking at Adrien lovingly.
Tumblr media
Because the writers are still trying to push the Love Square on us as if they were trying to sell us some death sticks. And yes, expect a few Star Wars jokes in this review. This episode did premiere on May 4th after all.
Rose suddenly gets a headache, and asks to go to the nurse, saying that “Miss Dora” is back. While walking there with Marinette, she explains that it's a code name she gives when her head hurts and can tell Miss Bustier without letting everyone know. She probably felt a name like “Maya Grain” would just give it away.
At lunch, Juleka gets a text that really upsets her, so Marinette tries to cheer her up. Keyword being “tries”.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Okay, yes, this is referencing the previous scene, where Rose refers to a certain snack at the nurse's office she eats to recover her health whenever “Miss Dora” visits called “Mr. Coffee”, but it's just bad timing. I get Marinette has a habit of not reading the room, but why did she have to use the term “Miss Dora” when she knows what it's being used for? Sure, she doesn't know that Juleka knows, but did she really have to say “Miss Dora”? She couldn't have used any other name instead? It's like making a chemotherapy joke when you just found out someone close to you has cancer. Even putting the context aside, what is this joke's punchline supposed to be? That “Miss Dora” will visit Juleka if she eats her lunch? Even by the humor standards of this show, the joke fails spectacularly.
Marinette bumps into Adrien, and although she stutters a little with a little exaggerated body movement, she does manage to take things seriously so she can have an actual conversation with Adrien about Juleka, who wants to be alone. She explains that the text she got was from Rose, who was sent to the hospital because of her sickness, and the entire class finds out because Marinette texted everyone to come to check on Juleka.
Goddamn it, Marinette. I usually defend you for getting screwed over by the writing, but you really aren't on your A game today.
Juleka explains that Rose got this sickness when she was little, which naturally worried everyone else. To make things worse, Juleka also says Rose made her swear to not tell anyone about her to worry her. Everyone else swears to not let Rose know that they know, and the act of support is actually enough to drive away an Akuma targeted at Juleka.
Unfortunately, nobody ever said anything about being overly affectionate to Rose, so everyone in the class tries to do things for Rose like carry her bags, giving her a pillow to sit on in school, helping her take notes, letting her cut in line at lunch, and giving her apples.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
All of this makes Juleka remorsefully tell Rose that she told everyone else, which worries her because she hates all the special treatment, so she goes to tell them all about her illness. While they seem to accept her, the next time she sneezes, they overreact like, uh... how can I make this joke in a tasteful way?
Rose says she's had enough with all the treatment, which makes Juleka feel guilty. In the bathroom, she gets akumatized into Reflekta (yet again) with a Sentimonster named Guiltrip. And then Reflekta immediately gets sucked into the Sentimonster, which will cause it to go out of control. Nice job, Shadowmoth.
Tumblr media
While it might not look like much, this is easily my favorite Sentimonster by far. Granted, that's not saying much, given all we've gotten so far for Sentimonsters is bootleg Mothra, sentient candy, a robotic doll, a frog with a body count, yet another evil doppelganger, and an eye, but my point still stands. Rather than actually confront the heroes, it's basically a portal to another world where it can trap people in bubbles that represent their regrets and despair, and turn them into copies of Reflekta.
Tumblr media
It's a really strong metaphor which reminds me of the villains from Kamen Rider Wizard, who tried to drive their victims to despair in order to turn them into monsters. Ironically, that show's main villain is also some asshole in white who was risking countless lives just to save someone close to him. In general, the area inside of Guiltrip is visually stunning, and easily the highlight of the episode. It's just so surreal, and it really sets the tone the episode's going for.
Ladybug and Cat Noir arrive on the scene, and also get sucked into the portal, seeing some of the victims before they also start to fall into despair. And I can't believe I'm saying this, but this is one of the few times where Angstdrien Depreste is thematically appropriate. Cat Noir points out that if they had simply defeated Shadowmoth by now, none of this would be happening, which is a good point. He even attempts to kill himself using his Cataclysm, but unlike RWBY, they don't try to glorify it.
This also leads to Rose managing to fight off Guiltrip's powers with her optimistic personality (so I guess you could say she's A New Hope for the heroes), inspiring Ladybug to compliment Cat Noir. While I'd normally be pissed that this is yet another way to boost his ego, it does fit in with the episode's theme of positive thinking. Well, with the exception of one line where she points out what her time as Ladybug would be like without Cat Noir...
Tumblr media
BEING A SUPERHERO IS NOT SUPPOSED TO BE FUN. Yes, there are certain benefits to being a superhero, but it is not a fun game you play when lives are on the line. Why are the writers so dedicated to validate Cat Noir's beliefs that being a hero is just a fun extracurricular activity? Has there ever been a superhero who shares a similar mentality and isn't treated like a complete jackass?
So Ladybug and Cat Noir break free of the bubbles, and after summoning her Lucky Charm, a pickaxe, Ladybug realizes she needs more positivity to break free from Guiltrip. As such, she pulls out the Pig Miraculous and gives it to Rose, who transforms into Pigella. Funny how she forgot her little headache condition when she bangs her head like a death metal singer while transforming.
Tumblr media
The design is... wait, she's not wearing a skin-tight jumpsuit? She's actually wearing something different?
youtube
Yeah, I really like the Pigella design. There's a good mix of pink and white, and the skirt really brings the whole thing together. It really reflects Rose's optimistic and bubbly personality.
So the three heroes find Reflekta, who has been consumed by tons of bubbles. Pigella uses her superpower, Gift, to show Reflekta what her heart wants the most right now. So it's basically a more specific version of the Fox Miraculous? In fact, what do pigs have to do with optimism?
Whatever reason, it works, which helps Reflekta to break free of Guiltrip's influence, letting Ladybug de-evilize her. But because we need to have a fight scene in this episode, the Reflekta clones start to attack the heroes, but Ladybug uses the pickaxe to climb out of Guiltrip and purify the Amok.
So Rose hands the Pig Miraculous back to Ladybug, and the episode ends with everyone treating Rose normally in class, realizing she isn't as delicate as she thinks she is.
So yeah, I really like this episode. Aside from a few stupid things Marinette said this episode, I honestly don't have a lot of problems with the episode here.
I also really like the lesson this episode is going for. It doesn't shame Rose for rejecting the help, and it doesn't shame the class for being to overprotective of Rose either. It tries to find a middle ground, which is an important lesson to learn, not just for dealing with a loved one who has an illness, but for disabled people and other kinds of situations where someone has a disadvantage. Even as much as I ragged on Marinette for the text, it's clear that she isn't the only one to blame. In fact, nobody really gets blamed for anything this episode. It's more of a misunderstanding, and both sides find a balance on how to treat Rose.
It's overall a really good episode, and the second best one so far this season. And you know what? This episode taught me the importance of staying positive, so with that in mind, maybe I shouldn't be dreading “Queen Banana” when it comes out this week.
Wait, what? It got pushed back two weeks? Oh, THANK GOD! Now I feel like dancing. And I know exactly what song to dance to...

Falling for someone like you
Chapter 9 ? What a day
Previous chapter here
Tags : fluff and slight smut warning ⚠️
The next day went swiftly, you both had a great time at the mine and then the museum, afterwards you both went out for dinner, in the small restaurant she had spotted before. Wilhemina offered to pay since you had already done so much for her those few days. "I insist baby..you've been amazing and I was the one who suggested it... Let me get this one"
"Okay fine...don't make a habit out of it you know I love to spoil you, my darling" you had responded placing your hand on her cheek. That night you had gone to bed early, exhausted from the day spent. Your lover laid by your side, your arms around her protectively and her leg draped over your body, and fingers upon your collarbones. "Y/n ?"
"Mm ?" "What are we gonna do tomorrow ? I tried to find something to vis..."
"Amusement Park"
"Huh ?"
"Tomorrow that's what we're doing"
"Oh...you do kn..."
"I checked if it was something you could do, and there are many attraction available"; "Good..." She said before yawning. "Oh baby sleep you're tried"
"I don't want this day to end"
"It doesn't have to...in your mind never" You turned slightly, putting your hand around her hip and under her head, and hers went to your neck. Your legs found the spot between hers and the one still on top of your body. On Sunday you woke up a little bit early to pack stuff in the car before traveling to the park, your girlfriend watching the landscape pass by the cars window. Your eyes fixated on the rood and right hand in hers on her thigh. You arrived and went inside. The place was kinda crowded but since Wilhemina couldn't stand for too long waiting wasn't a problem, you could easily enter attraction in another line. "I hate their faces when they see me cut the line" she said growling from anger and you caressed her hair while explaining "Hey baby... You're not cutting line, your simply taking another one. If they don't like it they can try and live all their life in a body that aches like yours. They'll see if taking that line is worth the trouble."
"I guess you're right"
"I am...if they aren't happy about it they can suck my dick"
"OH so they can but you barely let me do it ?" You playfully feigned being offended and slightly pinched her arm. "That's not even true.."
"It is. Whenever I wanna do it you don't pack"
"Well I'm not going to pack every single day love"
"Well at least some of them baby"
You giggled and subconsciously started walking towards a small Russian mountain.
"Are you up for that mina ?"
"Of course. I'm up for anything", "You Sure ? It seems pretty scary". "It's not. Besides if it wear it would say not for people with back problems"
"Okay okay... Well when you throw up just make sure it's not while the wind is in our way."
"Haha very funny"
:read more:
She said as you took her hand and leaded her to the side line, after a few minutes you got in the seats. Wilhemina held your hand a little tighter than usual, so you nuzzled behind her ear and told her she was more than safe with you. She relaxed a bit and then screams and squeals of joy were the only thing that could be heard. You both moved throughout the park, doing things left and right, pointing at beautiful landscape and designs. You stopped at a flying swing and encouraged wilhemina to come with you and do it together. But she didn't seam to keened on it. Even as you took her hand and tugged her towards it she held her ground. The mushroom tower started to rise and everyone started cheering as the chair flew around in circles and people moved in their chairs."Look it's fun honey" "It's for kids."..."No. It's not. Watch there are plenty of adults her and besides it didn't bother you in the flying elephants."
"That was different"
"Absolutely not, look if it's because you don't stand the movements it's okay, but at least tell me"
"I do stand it" you went closer to her, your hands on her hips as you kissed her cheeks "Babe tell me what the real problem is, no bullshit please"
"I don't have. Anywhere to put my cane in there."
"Well we can leave it in the entrance"
"I'd rather not"
"Why, you don't need it during the ride, and I'll get it for you at the end baby"
"Who knows what will happen during the ride. I don't want to find it broken, not only because you gifted it to me, but because it is my life, I refuse to let it be broken or lost by those incompetent people"
"Hey..hey no need to insult anyone here, baby I know that, but just like when you go to bed you leave it to the side, you can let them take care of it"
"I..."
"Baby I promise nothing bad will happen"
"How can you do that"
"I'll make sure it doesn't, do you trust me ?"
"Of course I trust you. I just don't trust anybody else"
"But you learned how to trust me, so maybe you can try and give a little trust to that"
"Fine. One session"
"Yay ! I promise you'll love it" You said as you both went to it, and as soon as wilhemina was sited you went up to the people managing the attraction and asked them to keep her cane during the ride.
"Oh and by the way. If anything happens to it. Even the slightest impact, i will make sure you all lose your job, and ruin your reputation so much no one will go to a park that is unacceptable with disabled people."
"..we..yes. well, we will take good care of it"
"You better do." You went back and sat just next to Wilhemina on the double sided chair. "Did you te..."
"It's okay baby. They'll handle it carefully"
"Oh okay..." The swing raised above the floor, and progressively your feets hanged down as they stopped touching ground and The ride began. the wind hit your face faster and faster and you both smiled and yelled as it spined. Wilhemina had to keep her hand on her skirt so it didn't lift up and give everyone else a great view and you giggled. You whispered in her ear as the world around you kept turning and turning. "Don't traumatize these children and get arrested for public nudity I'd hate to have to get you out of jail and runaway together..."
"Is it weird of it actually sounds good"
"Depends on which part"
"The last bit you fool"
"Well my anxiety could never...but keep dreaming darling" You both laughed and held hands as the chairs were turning even faster. At one point the air was to rapid through her hair and it detached her hairdo, you Heard her groan as her hair moved everywhere including her face while she looked at you. "Oh come on why"
"It's fine mina just let it go"
"It's a good thing this was not a wig"
You laughed again as You pushed the hair out of her face and saw her eyes shining with joy, you don't think you ever saw her so happy your whole life, and you thought maybe she never has been.
"I love you y/n"
She said as her hair flew behind her like a beautiful main. You couldn't help but put your hands around her face and bring her for a kiss. Your lips lingered on hers for a while, hands stoking her cheek and breathing linked and she pulled away questioning. "Why the kiss?"
"I just couldn't not kiss you right then"
"But in front of all these people ? Children"
"They won't die because I kissed the woman I love. They've seen people kiss before, they'll be fine"
"But the people here ?"
"I don't give a single fuck about them, I love you and they better get over it."
"I love you too" You enjoyed the rest of the ride, and after you got down you went to get wilhemina's cane for her, and as it took a little longer before she got out of it like the rest you heard someone tell her to get off the swing because people were waiting. You immediately turned around and went up to him, her stepped back a little "What did you just say ?"
"I..i said that this bitch needs to get off of the swing or learn to leave others their turn"
"You better shut the fuck up now, or else you really aren't going to enjoy the ride with a broken nose and bleeding face."
"Is that a threat ?"
"No it's a promise."
"It's unacceptable she ne.."
"And you need to stick your patience up your ass and fuck off. She'd be out of there in a second if you were able to keep your fucking mouth shut, now I bet you don't have any one in your life who has a disability except you because you are clearly having a stroke so let me tell you this. You say anything offensive to my wife. And I'll have your fucking ass in the floor."
"How dare you ? Telling all this in front of my kids"
"Maybe it'll teach them not to be complete assholes to people. Now your kids didn't say anything you did. So maybe you could thing about that"
"M'am you have to hurry..and keep your distance with the rest of the clients" The bold men tried to respond.
"But...i..i" ."
"we'll be out in a sec.. You. Save it. I honestly don't give a shit about your opinion, I'm not doing this for me, I'm doing it for her. Because if she weren't there I would have already been in jail for beating your ass. I'll say it once. Stay. Away. From. her. And keep your thoughts to your two inches long brain."
You went back to give her her cane and you both left the swings, glaring one last time at the men, who looked like he was about to piss his paints.
"Don't bother him, he's an ass"
"You don't always have to get in trouble for me"
"You're kidding right ? He was practically begging me to tell him off. Besides no one talks to you like this and gets away with it on my watch"
"He looked like a kid cought cheating have to admit watching you It was a little hot." She whispered in your ear
"Happy to oblige" you said as you pushed a strand of hair behind her ear and grazed her cheek. After that she bent forward a little and lifted her arms to try and do her hair back which you knew could hurt her.
"Hey hey no.. leave it" you said as you put your hands on hers.
"Let's sit over here baby"
You said while taking her to a small stair bench.
"Sir over here I'll sit on the one higher.
"Oh okay"
You settled her between your knees and asked for her hair tie.
"Do you really want to put it up again ? You know I love your hair down like this, you look so beautiful"
"I know you do, but it's our thing you know, I don't want it to become banal, I like that you're the only one who sees me like this, it makes it special"
"We have other things that are private darling, just because you go out with your hair down it doesn't mean it's not special anymore. I still get to see you in your nightwear or with a messy tee-shirt and a lazy bun."
"I know but still, I prefer keeping it up please"
"Okay baby no problem, can I put it up how I want ?"
"..fine yes, but no funny business"
"Of course" you said as you kissed her neck. You started sectioning her hair, brushing it through your fingers, huming softly. And you started breading, strands of hair between your hands, one over the other. Starting from up and then going down. Wilhemina relaxing visibly in your embrace, letting her head slightly back.
"Oooooooh, I am not the only traveler, who has not repaid His debt, I've been searching for a trail to follow again take me back to the night we met, and then I can tell myself what the hell am I supposed to do.
I had all and then most of you some and now none of you. Ooh
Take me back to the night we met.
"Here done"
"Can I sea ?"
"Let me just ..there "
Tumblr media
"Oh..y/n"
"You don't like it ?"
"No..no i do like it.. it's different than what I'm used to"
"I figured you don't usually bread it because it's probably to painful, so I wanted to do something nice". "I love it y/n"
"You look beautiful"
She blushed softly before you kissed her lips.
Afterwards you were both a little hungry, so you took wilhemina to a candy shop, they sold many things like sugar canes and candy floss
You waited before asking Wilhemina what she wanted, and ordered a pomme d'amour for starters, and decided you would take candy floss to walk.
"It's going to be messy y/n we have to cut in"
"No..baby the whole thing is to bite it at the same time"
"I swear if you get my shirt stained"
"It won't willy"
"Oh you know I hate that nickname"
"That's why I use it willy"
She groaned and you both stood while you held the food.
"On three"
"Wait does that mean we bite on three or after three"
"Oh just bite it on three love"
"One."
"Two" you both said
"Three"
You both took a bite out of the apple, juices covering your taste buds and the sweet sugar envelope cracking.
You giggled with your mouths full  and finished the apple as much as you could, heads turning around to find a good angle and sharing the same space.
You noticed Wilhemina had sugar on her top lip corner.
"Baby you have a little something here"
"Oh..thank you"
She tried getting it off but it wasn't efficient. So you stepped closer.
"Here..let me do it" you said before setting down the rest of the dish and pressing her against you while your hands found her jaw and you kissed her soundly, she moaned a little when you bit her top lip. And grazed it with your tongue. It asked for entrance and Wilhemina granted it to you. You made out together for a little bit before parting a little and just holding each other for a while, pairs of hands around shoulders and hips.
After that you bought the candy floss and started walking around the park once again.
You both picked in each others sticks, exchanging looks, smiles and kisses.
Feeding each other bits every now and then.
After a dozen minutes you had both finished
And you kissed her again, sharing the taste of sugar between each other. Her cane pressed against her and her cheek in your hand.
"Thank you y/n"
"For what ?". "For giving my life purpose"
"Aw baby why do you have to be so damn cute ALL the time"
"I'm serious"
"Me too...and you don't need to thank me, you mean everything to me. Come here."
You said before taking her inside your arms, inhaling her sent and circling your arms around her frame. You pressed kisses in her hair and she place them in your neck.
"I love you so much Wilhemina"
She started to tear up a little bit before sniffling and hiding more inside your body.
"I mean it...baby you don't ever have to cry about that again..for I will hold you till the end of time itself. And in every one of your future life's I'll have you in my heart."
Time passed as you held each others before slowly getting going again.
You arrived at a shooting game, pushed animals were hanging from the walls and ceiling.
"Oh here let me win you something !"
"Oh come on darling these games are money black holes"
"Not if your good at it" she starting turning around and walking away
"Besides it's gun shooting you're not going to be any good at that love you don't own any. Also I think it's quite funny that yo..."
"Here m'am, ya just need to get those target over there to ya win"
"Huhh come on y/n, do you even know what I said"
"Ssh baby I gotta focus"
"Sshh? So you shush me now ?"
You ignored her rambling as your hands settled their positions and you started shooting the first few bullets hitting right on the targets, five bullets later you heard a ringing sound and the guy stunned by your performance started
"Well m'am I'll be honest I wasn't expecting ya to win on the first try. But here ya go, you can pick one of them little stuffed animals"
"Mm I'll have this one for my lady over there "
"Excellent choice...here there ya go ... have a nice day birdies"
You giggled and thanked him as you went up to Wilhemina and gave her the white furry bunny you had won.
"So since you were so supportive I'll just keep it to myself"
"...I'm sorry baby...i just didn't want you to waste your money" "I know"
You said as you handed her the toy, "it's for you baby", "Oh.. really ? Wow it's the first time my lover...well anyone wins me something at a game"
"Looks like I'm your first on lots of things babe"
"Heyy" she responded while jabbing your shoulder "Aww why do you always do that, I think I need to go check it at the hospital."
"Oh don't be A baby y/n"
"Well you're the one standing with a bunny in your arms so who's really the baby huh?" She frowned before she joined you in laughter. You walked hand in hand with her gift under her hand. The sun was starting to set slowly as you both chatted and enjoyed the rest of the day.
"Let's get married"
"...What ?"
"Here let's get married now"
"..y/n ? I don't understand...I'm not sure it's a good idea"
"Chill baby I meant there" you said as you pointed the small church in the middle of the other attractions.
"It says it celebrates unions and marriages, but nothing actually official"
"Oh .."
"So let's get married here darling. Let's have our unofficial official ceremony now"
You said as you led her to the counter
"Wait..."
"It's okay you don't want to"
"No..no I definitely want to, I'm just straddled, and what If they don't celebrate our 'marriage', baby there are no legal obligations here"
"Well I don't care if they don't celebrate 'Our' marriage. I'll find another fake church that does, but we have to try frist right ?"
She nodded and took your hand.
"Hello ladies how May I help you"
You both looked at each other and she smiled.
"We would like to get married." "Alright, are you married irl ?" "Nope"
"I have to inform you this is all outside of any actual legal union, this mariage is only valid here, and in your hearts."
"We know"
"Perfect then. Follow me" You arrived in a room filled with dressed and suits, the man asked if you wanted to pay before or after, you decided to do it now, Wilhemina didn't even notice you did. "I'll let you approximately 30 minutes to choose your formal wear and get dressed, an hour to prepare your vows and will Then accompany the... well brides walk down the aisle"
"If it's easier i don't mind being already there."
"Oh yes good. Anyway, I'll let you change, there are two different Rooms with staff so you don't see each other until marriage"
"Thank you". You both said before picking your outfits and trying on dresses and suits. After some time the man came back and took Wilhemina before letting you know where was the aisle. You waited there with the pastor, who didn't look used to celebrating marriages between women, but who wasn't mad about it. The music started and there was no one else in the church except for the few staff and you both. The doors opened and you saw your girlfriend walk arm in arm with the guy who welcomed you in. She looked ethereal, beautiful you had never seen such beauty before, her hair was in a beautiful hairdo, half down half up, a bunch of colored flowers in her hair and even a purple orange make-up.
She walked gracefully, her dress following her and a veil attached to her flower crown.
Tumblr media
"Hey"
"Hey...wow, you...look... amazing...I'm so lucky" she blushed before being handled her cane and replied "Well...I must say You're not so Bad yourself y/n"
"Erm erm.. We are reunited today. To celebrate the union of two beautiful souls, linked together by life. Two hearts beating at the same pace, two bodies sharing one path. We are here, in the evening of this bright full day, to make the two women standing here, married, for better and for worst until death do them apart...If i may have the rings. " He took them and turned to Wilhemina "You will now exchange your vows"
"Oh..lord..sorry. this is the part I'm not going to be good at. But you already know that.
You know every part of me. Every single piece I've yet to discover. You hold them, in your arms. Steady, fierce, protective, bringing me the safe home i could have never hope to have. And yet here you stand. By my side every day. You hold my heart, and you make my sun hang, so bright yet so easy, in my sky. I didn't believe I could ever be liked. And you showed me unconditional love.
I didn't believe I was pretty, you made me feel like the most beautiful goddess in the world. I didn't believe I could feel it, but darling, you are the person I love like I would have never believed such feeling existed.. I am not good at expressing feelings, I find them to abstract, to volatile to be caught by my words. So I chose the ones of someone else that resonated with me so hard I believe them to be our own.
'You belong with me, my love. And I belong with you. We should live life side by side, In everything we do. You belong with me today, For now and ever more. And I belong with you, my dear, The one that I adore. We were meant to be, I know; It’s written in the stars. I love the way we are as one, And everything you are. Just think of all the moments Aligning for us to meet, So once we found each other, We were bound to feel complete. But this part of our story, We’ll sit and write together. Hanging memories on the wall,of the home we’ll share forever. So, both of us are certain. As we each say ‘I do’, That you belong with me, my love, And I belong with you." As she was done and the tears spilled from your eyes the pastor gave her a ring and spoke again.". "Now you will repeat after me as you place the ring on her, -I take you, y/f/n" "I take you y/f/n" ; "—to be my wedded Wife" "To be my wedded Wife"
"— to have and to hold from this day forward"; "To have and to hold from this day forward"
"—for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer''; "for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer" ; "—in sickness and in health to love and to cherish,"; "in sickness and in health to love and to cherish,". "—till death do us part"
"Till death do us part"
She said as she finally settled the ring she picked out on you.
Tumblr media
"You will now exchange your vows to your bride."
".. Wilhemina, every time I dreamed about love, it was always me finding it, searching, like a lost salior for my beloved boat. But little did I know, love would find me, it would find a way through my heart, in between the cracks of it, sunshine would bring healing. I remember when I first fell in love. The intensity, the warmth, I remember her smile, her hair. I remember how hard I loved. How wrong I may have, probably because of the youth. I remember how much it had hurt. When she was taken away from me. When I could no longer hold her body, when everything from her had immediately and indefinitely turned to dust. I remember how I cursed at the wind, yelled, screamed, cried, abused whatever God had been responsible for it, responsible for this pain love had brought. I swore, I swore to never love ever again. And I tried, I begged for love to leave me alone. I dreamed it would never hurt again. And I remember when I found you, and you found me. How utterly lost we had been. How stupid it was for me to think I would not fall for you.
For your smile.
For your laugh.
For your eyes.
For your tears of joy and sorrow. For every single beat of your heart. How stupid I had been, To think I would never fall again. But the truth is, I spent all these years climbing, to afraid, to hurt, to coward, to actually jump. But the more high you gain The longer and harder the fall. And man, did I fall. And man, how did it feel so terribly perfect to do so. And man, little did I know, you could make me fly. I wasn't scared anymore. It didn't hurt. It was the answer I had been searching for all of my life. The one I didn't know was within me all along, the one you brought to life. It was love, love was the answer. No Our, our love was the answer. I'm so completely and unapologetically in love with you. You, you, you it's always been you. And the stars are watching, they are jealous, and they talk because never in the eternal burn they experience, never did they see souls shine so bright. Our connection goes beyond speaking, you choose words to express what you want to say. I want words to choose how to express what I say.  In truth, we married each other that first night, in bed, we had been married by our bodies, but now we stand in history—what our bodies had said, mouth to mouth, we now said publicly, gathered together.
'I don’t love you as if you were a rose of salt, topaz, or arrow of carnations that propagate fire:i love you as one loves certain obscure things, secretly, between the shadow and the soul. I love you as the plant that doesn’t bloom but carries the light of those flowers, hidden, within itself, and thanks to your love the tight aroma that arose from the earth lives dimly in my body. I love you without knowing how, or when, or from where, I love you directly without problems or pride: I love you like this because I don’t know any other way to love, except in this form in which I am not nor are you, so close that your hand upon my chest is mine, so close that your eyes close with my dreams... We, unaccustomed to courage exiles from delight, live coiled in shells of loneliness, until love leaves its high holy temple and comes into our sight to liberate us into life. Love arrives and in its train come ecstasies, old memories of pleasure, ancient histories of pain. Yet if we are bold, love strikes away the chains of fear from our souls. We are weaned from our timidity, In the flush of love’s light, we dare be brave. And suddenly we see that love costs all we are and will ever be. Yet it is only love, which sets us free.'.. Today i stand here, as i will stand for as long as my fragile body allows me to, perhaps then I will sit, or lay, by your side my dear, always. And love within me blooms, and makes flowers from every cell in me grow. I will choose you over and over again love, I will hold you close, I will give you peace, I will bring you home. In me. In my heart."
"Now, for the ring.."
Tumblr media
He gave you the one you'd picked for her, a thick golden string with amethyst, and Carnelian.
"-I take you, Wilhemina venable"
"I take you, Wilhemina venable"
"-to be my wedded Wife"
"To be my wedded Wife"
"- to have and to hold from this day forward"
"To have and to hold from this day forward"
"- for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer
"for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer"
"-in sickness and in health to love and to cherish,"
"in sickness and in health to love and to cherish,
"-till death do us part"
You finally slid the ring on her finger before saying.
"Till death do us part
"Perfect, you may now kiss the bide."
You turned to Wilhemina, picked the veil covering her face, lifted it and placed it backwards before taking she took her face in her hands and yours grabbed her hips, bending her slightly backwards before stealing her lips in the most beautiful and delicious kiss you both had the chance to share, oxygen wasn't even needed as your whole body experienced full Bliss, during the embrace you heard, no felt her mumble 'i love you' to which she know you replied by kissing her harder tumbling a little before parting away, faces close, smiles on both of your lips. You walked down the aisle tightly pressed together her hair darked than usual with the dim candle light. And as you went through the door, bells rang and you felt rice being thrown at you from somewhere you couldn't spot. Eventually you got outside, turned to your wife and spun her around before kissing for what would most definitely not be the last time of the day, body pressed together like it will be during your Wedding night.
When you came back home both of your touch yas tender yet urgent, you took no time to
Set your things, just immediately riding her of her day clothes and coat, slamming the door with your feet and taking her upstairs. Before the bedroom door you lifted her up over the threshold, "tradition is sacred my darling"
"Shut up and just make love to me"
Shortly you were both in your underwear, your body on top of hers, cradling her with kisses and caresses, your lips all over her body.
You began to take her nipple in your mouth and play with the other one, her back arched and she moaned loudly, you were starting to kiss your way down her body but she stopped you.
"I..I..want us to cum...together"
"I can't refuse my baby now"
You dragged down her body before teasing her inner thigh and kissing her clit, making sure she was wet enough, you went up her body again, your hand between her legs stating to work her up. Your own hand finding yourself, toying with your panties before sitting back and touching yourself for her to see. Once you were both ready you aligned both of your centers, and lowered yourself on her. Hearing a moan from both of your throats as the contact was a delightful bliss. Your moans filled the room as you rubbed your clitorises faster, wet sounds coming from the friction. "Uh..uH baby I'm getting close"
"..wait a bit for me.. can you do that ?"
"Uhh..yeah..yeaH" You doubled your efforts and before you knew it she was cumming all over you which triggered your own orgasm. You fell on her body, legs intertwined as your bodies sank into each others. Still catching her breath Wilhemina couldn't stop herself from laughing.
"...We got married...in an amusement park";
"We did baby...".
".....I love you";
"I love you too baby"
A/n: the italic pieces are bits of different poems, I couldn't settle for one, if you think cutting a poem is sacrilegious I'm sorry but I believe that Words and art is ment to be movements, live and change though our experiences of then, pieces of structure that you can use to build. your own.

The Proposal ~ T.H
chapter two: the trip
series masterlist
Tumblr media
“Good morning, miss.” Tom greeted when you walked into your shared office. “The updated manuscript is on your desk with new tabs. And I have your matcha right here. I already tested it to make sure they put soy milk and not regular.”
“Thank you, assistant.” You smiled tightly as you took the cup from him. “Are you ready to go to city hall this weekend? I want to get this over with as soon as possible.”
“About that.” Tom grimaced. “There’s been a small hiccup.”
“Hiccup?” You said, unamused.
“Small.” He pinched his fingers together. “More like a gurgle, really.”
“What is it?”
“I was going to go home for the week, remember?” He reminded you. “You approved my time off?”
“Damn it. Why would I do that?” You sighed. “Does it have to be this week?”
“It’s my little brothers birthday and I promised him I’d be there. I’m sorry.” Tom apologized. “Can we do it next week?”
“I don’t have until next week.” You whined. “We have a meeting with an IRCC agent next Monday and we need to be convincingly married by then.”
“I’m sorry.” He repeated. “But it’s his 16th birthday and I never get to see him.”
“Where are you from?” You asked him.
“Kingston, miss.”
“That’s an hour away from here.” You furrowed your eyebrows. “Can’t you just drive there and drive back after the party?”
“He and I have a tradition where we stay up the night before his birthday and watch movies. You know, so we don’t miss a second of his birthday.” Tom explained shyly. “I’d have to be there overnight. And my family is expecting me for the whole week. It’ll break their hearts if I leave after the party.”
“Tom.” You sighed and rubbed your temples. “We need to be studying facts about each other so the agent doesn’t think we’re committing fraud. How are we supposed to do that of you’re gone?”
Tom smiled a little as you called him but his first name, a rarity for you. He could feel the power dynamic between you shifting and he wanted to see how much he could push it.
“Why don’t you come with me?” He suggested. “You can meet my family and we can spend the week together. That should be enough time to build a semi-convincing relationship, right? I mean, it’s not like we’re strangers. We spend 9 hours a day together.”
“As colleagues.” You pointed out. “I hardly know anything about you.”
“I’ll teach you everything you need to know this week. And you can teach me all about you.” He offered. “You can tell me all the things you like to do when you’re not sending your flying monkies after little girls and their dogs.”
“Thanks, but I’d rather sit on a cactus than spend the week with you and your family.” You smiled tightly.
“Fine then.” Tom shrugged. “Enjoy Canada.”
“Wait.” You held up a hand. “I’ll go. We need to learn about each other if we’re gonna make this work.”
“Okay.” Tom smiled a little. “Great.”
“Stop smiling.” You snapped. “And no more witch jokes.”
“Sorry, miss.” Tom obliged. “It won’t happen again.”
You looked at him for a moment before scribbling something down on your business card. He heard the click of your high heels coming over to his desk, making his heart rate jump.
“Pick me up at this address tomorrow at 1.” You said as you handed him the card. “Don’t be late.”
“Yes, miss.” He blushed a little as he rubbed his thumb over your address. It took two years, but he finally knew a little about you.
Tom parked outside your house the next afternoon at 12:45 pm and waited patiently. He knew you well enough to know that being punctual meant being early. You came out of your house with your luggage in hand and a large black hat on your head. He smirked a little at the sight of you in something other than work clothes. He quickly got out of the drivers seat and opened the car door for you.
“Good afternoon.” He said as he put your bags in the back seat. “You look lovely today.”
“Don’t compliment me.”
“Sorry, miss.” He said as he got back into the drivers seat.
“Your car smells like laundry detergent”. You sighed and touched up your lipstick in his mirror.
“Sorry.” He said again.
“You don’t have to keep apologizing.” You told him. “Just drive.”
Tom nodded and took off, heading in the direction of Kingston. He snuck glances at you every now and then, unsure of how to act around you in a non work setting. You seemed content with sitting quietly for the next hour, but he didn’t want to do that.
“I can’t wait to see my family.” Tom sparked up a conversation. “I think you’ll really like them. And they’ll like you.”
“Doubt it. When was the last time you saw them?”
“A little over two years now.” He told you. You shifted in your seat to look at him in confusion.
“Really?” You asked. “If you only live an hour away, how come you never see them?”
“You keep me pretty busy.” He said sheepishly. Your jaw dropped a little, but you quickly shut it.
“Oh.” You said quietly. “I’m sorry.”
“It’s all right.” Tom shrugged. “I love the job. It’s hard work, but it’s worth it.”
“I know. I love it too.” You smiled a little. “You can imagine why I’m fighting so hard to keep this job. I can’t go back to Canada.”
“Canada can’t be that bad, can it?” He asked.
“Nothings wrong with Canada.” You told him. “I’d just be alone if I went back.”
“Isn’t your family there?”
You got quietly suddenly and stared out his car window. Tom looked at you nervously, hoping he hadn’t touched a nerve.
“I don’t really have any family.” You said after a minute. “My parents had a nasty divorce before I was born so my dads side cut me and my mom off. I’ve never met them.”
“I’m sorry to hear that.” Tom looked at your sympathetically. “That must have been really difficult for you.”
“Yeah.” You avoided eye contact. “It was.”
“You know.” Tom began. “That was the first personal thing you’ve ever told me.”
“If you tell anyone, I’ll have you fired.” You said flatly.
“Oh, will you?” He humored you. “From Canada?”
“Shut up.” You laughed a little, but quickly stopped.
“Yes, miss.” He obliged and shut his mouth.
“You don’t have to keeping calling me “miss”. You can call me Y/n.” You rolled your eyes before looking at him.
“Does that mean you’ll stop calling me “assistant”?” He asked with a smile.
“That’s your name.” You insisted, and he let out a laugh. You smiled a little to yourself, realizing you had never heard him laugh before.
“Was that a joke?” He asked. “Are you capable of things other than commands?”
“I’m not all business.” You shrugged. “I can be funny when I want to be.”
“I can see that.” Tom grinned. “Still, you should start calling me Tom. I am your fiancé, after all.”
“Yeah, yeah. Don’t flatter yourself.” You waved him off. “This is strictly a business deal. And you are so not my type.”
“Oh yeah?” He raised his eyebrows. “Then what is your type?”
“I like a man in power.” You stated. “And you’re just an assistant.”
“Not for long.” He reminded you. “As soon as you’re Mrs. Holland, I’m Mr. Editor-at-a-big-shot-publishing-company.”
“Hmm.” You hummed. “Call me then and we’ll see.”
Tom looked at you and smiled, and you unexpectedly smiled back. You quickly stopped smiling, not wanting him to think he’d broken your walls down.
“You know, I always had a little crush on you.” Tom admitted when he returned his eyes to the road.
“It’s a big crush and I’ve known since your first day.” You said simply.
“What?” He laughed. “How’d you know?”
“Please.” You rolled your eyes. “Changing your coffee order to match mine? I’ve had you whipped since the first time I asked you to print something.”
“I couldn’t help it.” He said shyly. “You’re so bossy and mean. It’s enticing.”
“Yeah.” You laughed uneasily. “Not many people think that.”
“Come on.” He scoffed. “You’re in charge of every room you walk in. You must have men falling at your feet.”
“I do.” You agreed. “But then I let them get too close and I scare them away.”
You sucked in a sharp breath suddenly and looked out the window, feeling like you said too much.
“What’s wrong?” Tom asked when he noticed you getting quiet.
“I don’t know why I said that.” You admitted. “I don’t really like to open up.”
“It’s okay.” He shrugged. “You can open up to me.”
“No.” You shook your head.
“No?”
“Keep your eyes on the road.” You changed the subject. “And fix your hands. Both of them need to be on the steering wheel.”
“Yes miss.” He nodded and put his other hand back on the wheel. “I mean, Y/n.”
“Good boy.” You murmured as you looked at him out of the corner of your eye. “That’s better.”
“We should be there pretty soon.” Tom changed the subject. “I should warn you about my mum. She’s a hugger. She’s gonna squeeze you real tight. Like, make you turn purple kinda tight.”
“Yeah, no.” You scrunched your nose. “I don’t do hugs.”
“You’re gonna have to if you want to be my wife.” Tom shrugged.
“I don’t want to be your wife.” You told him. “I just don’t want to be deported.”
“Ah.” Tom smiled. “Modern romance.”
“What else do I need to be prepared for?” You asked him. “I don’t like surprises.”
“My dad will try to make you laugh. And he won’t stop until he does.” Tom began. “Harry and Sam are my twins brothers. They’re gonna have a lot of questions for us. They’re always up my ass about my love life.”
“I thought you just had the one brother? The one turning 16.”
“No. I’m the oldest of four.” Tom told you. “Paddy’s the youngest. He’s the one turning 16.”
“Wow.” You blinked. “That’s a big family.”
“Yeah. They’re a lot to handle at first but they’re all really good people.”
“Okay.” You nodded. “Good to know.”
“Looks like we’re here.” Tom said as he turned a corner and pulled into a driveway. You gulped anxiously and looked around, pleasantly surprised with how nice his childhood home looked. Tom parked and quickly got out of his seat so he could open your door. He got your bags from the backseat and carried them inside.
You stood awkwardly at his side and looked around his living room. Suddenly, a dog ran into the room and jumped on Tom.
“Whats that?” You backed away in fear.
“Thats Tessa.” Tom smiled happily and bent down to pet the dog. “Hi, princess. Did you miss me?”
“You didn’t tell me you had a dog.” You kicked his side lightly.
“I must’ve forgotten to mention her.” He looked up at you as Tessa licked his face. “Hi, pretty girl. Did you miss me? Did you miss daddy?”
“No.” You gulped and backed away even further. “I hate dogs. I can’t be here.”
“What?” Tom asked. “How can you hate dogs?”
“They stink and slobber all over you.” You whined as Tessa began to sniff your leg. “Oh my God, get it away.”
“She likes you.” Tom grinned. “Let her sniff you. It’s how she says hello.”
“Her nose is wet.” You gagged.
“Well, she is a dog.”
“I’m gonna vomit.” You gagged again. “Oh God. Assistant, get me a bucket.”
“Tom? Is that you?”
You looked around for the unfamiliar voice just as a kind looking woman came into the room.
“Hi mum.” Tom got up and went to hug his mom. “Good to see you.”
“Oh, Tom.” She broke into a smile and hugged him back. “I’ve missed you so much. You need to come home more.”
“I know. I will.” Tom said as he pulled away. “Where’s dad?”
“Hes outside with the boys.” She told him. You couldn’t help but smile at sight in front of you, feeling a sense of longing for a hug as well.
“Who’s this?” His mom asked as her eyes shifted to you.
“This is Y/n. My girlfriend.” Tom said as he took your hand and pulled you closer.
“I thought Y/n was your boss?” She looked at Tom curiously.
“I am.” You spoke up. “But after sharing an office with him for two years, I couldn’t help but fall for him.”
“Ah! That’s wonderful. Come here.” His mom beamed and pulled you into a tight hug. You looked at Tom over her shoulder as she squeezed the air out of you.
“Sorry.” He mouthed with a smile.
“It’s lovely to meet you, Y/n.” She said once she pulled away. “Look at you. So beautiful.”
“Thank you, Mrs...” You trailed off as you once against forgot Toms last name. You looked at him for help and he mouthed the answer.
“Holland.” You read his lips. “Your home is beautiful, by the way. Thank you for having me.”
“Of course.” She cupped your face. “It’s so nice to have you here. What a lovely surprise.”
You smiled and leaned into his moms hand, missing the warmth of a mother’s touch. His mom let go of you after a minute and turned her attention back to Tom.
“I set up your old room for you.” She told him. “Why don’t you put your bags down and meet us outside?”
“Sure. Thanks, mum.” Tom kissed her cheek before grabbing your bags. This time, you helped him with the bags and picked your own up.
“Thank you, Mrs. Holland.” You said before leaving the room.
“You can call me Nikki.” She told you and pinched your cheek again. “I’ll see you two in a minute.”
You turned to follow Tom to his room, but caught him staring at you with a smile.
“What?” You asked.
“Nothing.” He chuckled. “You’re nice when you want to be.”
“Shut up.” You scoffed, returning to your usual bossy behavior. “My feet hurt. Where’s your room?”
“Right this way.” He nodded towards the hallway and you followed him. You didn’t give his room a second glance as you dropped your bags on his floor and got ready to leave.
“Let’s go.” You commanded. “Your mom is expecting us outside. And remember, we have to act like we’re in love.”
“I know.” Tom said quietly, feeling unexpectedly eager to act like your boyfriend.
“It’ll be easy for you, since you already kiss my ass so much.” You tried to joke. “But I’ll probably have a hard time since I don’t care about you at all.”
“Love you too, honey.” He smiled and took your hand. You let him tug you to his backyard, where the rest of his family was seated. You stood back and let Tom greet each member of his family with a hug and a kiss, feeling a weird sense of jealously. You didn’t really think of Tom outside the office, so it was strange to see him as someone’s son.
“Everyone, this is my girlfriend, Y/n.” Tom suddenly gestured to you. “She’ll be staying with us this week.”
“Hello everyone”. You waved awkwardly. It was the first time in your life you didn’t feel in control of a room. “Thank you for having me.”
“These are my brothers, Harry, Sam, and Paddy.” Tom gestured to three similar looking boys on the couch.
“Hello.” You smiled shyly.
“And this is my dad.” He continued. The spitting image of an older looking Tom stood up to greet you. You held your hand out to shake his, but he pulled you by that hand and kissed both of your cheeks.
“Lovely to meet you, Y/n.” He said as he squeezed your hand.
“It’s nice to meet you too, Mr. Holland.” You smiled at the gesture. “I’ve heard great things about you.”
“I’ve heard plenty about you too.” He replied, and he wasn’t lying like you were. “Tom speaks very highly of you. I hear you’re quite accomplished for your age.”
“Well you can get a lot done when you have help. Luckily, I have the best assistant in all of England.” You complimented Tom as the two of you took a seat. Tom hesitantly put his hand on your knee to sell the look of a couple. You pushed his hand off immediately, and he gave you a stern look. You blew out an annoyed breath and let him put his hand back on your knee.
“I can’t believe you’re just an assistant.” Harry snorted. “What do you even do?”
“I do a lot.” Tom insisted. “I answer Y/n’s phone calls, I schedule her meetings, I print manuscripts for her, I help her with editing. Things like that.”
“That’s so lame.” Sam laughed. “Does he get your coffee for you too?”
“I drink matcha, but yes.” You nodded. You could tell that their words were hurting Tom from the way his body slumped.
“Oh my God, mate.” Harry egged on. “You’re like her little pet.”
“Actually, I’ll be promoting Tom soon.” You spoke up in Tom’s favor.
“Really?” Nikki asked.
“Yes.” You nodded. “I’m making him my editor. He’ll hold the highest position in the company. After me, of course.”
“Wow.” Dom lit up. “That’s amazing.”
“We’re proud of you, Tom.” Nikki added.
“Wow.” Harry looked impressed. “So how did you guys get together anyway?”
“Um...” You looked at Tom in a panic, but he was prepared.
“A few months ago, we had to stay late to finish editing this manuscript.” Tom jumped in. “It was hundreds of pages but we needed to get it in by the morning. Y/n took the first ten chapters and I took the last ten. After two hours of reading, we realized we had been reading two different books.”
“Yeah.” You nodded along as if you knew the story. “We were so exhausted at that point that we laughed for ten minutes straight instead of getting upset. It didn’t even matter anymore.”
“It was the first time I really heard her laugh, and I remember thinking that I had never seen her look so beautiful.” Tom continued as he looked at you. “Hair all messy and eyes begging for sleep. I couldn’t help myself. I just leaned in and kissed her. We’ve been together ever since.”
Your lips curved into a smile at Tom’s unexpected story. You put your hand over his and squeezed it to bring it home.
“Took him long enough.” You chuckled. “But yeah, that was the night he finally kissed me.”
“That’s amazing.” Nikki gushed. “I always knew he liked you. He used to go on and on about how amazing you were. I can finally see what he meant.”
“Well he’s pretty amazing himself.” You replied. “It’s hard to find good help these days, but he’s always there when I need him. That’s how I knew he was the one.”
“The one?” Sam mused. “So you guys must be pretty serious.”
“We are.” Tom nodded and looked at you for permission. “We um, we’re engaged actually.”
“Engaged?” Nikki gasped.
“Yes. Engaged.” You faked a smile, and you were met with a slew of congratulations and hugs. You knew telling Tom’s family that the marriage was fake would make them liabilities, but you still felt guilty about getting their hopes up.
“Nicely done, son.” Dom pulled Tom into a tight hug and patted his back.
“Thank you.” Tom mumbled, feeling undeserving of his fathers praise.
“Where’s the ring?” Harry wondered.
“At home.” Tom lied. “Y/n didn’t want to travel with it.”
“Home.” Nikki gushed. “So you live together?”
“We do.” You nodded quickly. “Tom moved in with me a few weeks ago. We live in a house by a park.”
“That sounds lovely.” Nikki sighed. “We’ll have to come visit for the holidays.”
“Of course.” You looked at Tom with wide eyes. “Holidays. Together. As a family.”
“I’ll teach you all the family recipes, Y/n.” Sam jumped in. “Every Holland must know how to make my great grandmothers special cinnamon raisin bread.”
“Ugh, don’t talk about it.” Tom chuckled. “You’ll make me want some. And we only make it around Christmas.”
“Well we can make it for Paddys birthday on Sunday.” Sam shrugged. “You can be my sous chef, Y/n.”
“Oh, sure.” You said hesitantly. You were supposed to be spending the week with Tom, not his random brother.
“You have to see the amazing food Sam has made. Look at this cake he made for my birthday last year.” Nikki said as she handed you her phone.
“Wow.” You were impressed with the picture. “Did you take this?”
“I did.” Nikki nodded. “I’m a photographer.”
“It’s beautiful.” You complimented. “The cake looks great. And you have a great eye for pictures.”
“Thank you. Aw, could I get a picture of you and Tom?” Nikki asked. Tom looked at your for permission and you reluctantly agreed.
“Sure.” You forced a smile and scooted closer to Tom.
“Come on.” Nikki laughed. “Get closer. Look like you like each other.”
Tom gave you an apologetic look before wrapped his arm around you. You reluctantly wrapped your arm around his waist and leaned into his side, smiling at his moms camera.
“You two are so sweet.” Nikki said as she snapped a few pictures. “Let’s see a kiss.”
“Oh, no.” You said quickly. “That’s okay.”
“Come on!” Dom chimed in. “Kiss your bride.”
“Really, that’s okay.” Tom insisted.
“Don’t be shy. It’s for my portfolio.” Nikki pleaded. “And I have enough photos of your smiling. I want a kiss.”
Tom gave you another apologetic look at you glared at him. You didn’t want to kiss him, but there was no way to avoid it.
“All right.” He announced. “Going in for a kiss now.”
You gave Tom one more angry look before shutting your eyes and pressing your lips against his. The kiss quickly went from feeling forced to feeling magnetic as your scrunched features softened. You felt Toms hand come to rest on your cheek as he kissed you, and for a moment, it felt right.
“Oh. Look how beautiful.” Nikki gushed when you pulled away. “I’m going to frame this.”
You stayed staring at Tom as the family talked amongst themselves. He looked different all the sudden, like you were seeing him for the first time. Tom gulped as his eyes flicked back down to your lips, silently fighting the urge to lean in for another kiss.
“You two make a great couple.” Dom spoke up. “We’re so happy to have you in our family.”
“Yeah.” You finally tore your eyes away from him to force a smile at Nikki. “Family.”
