This is not my art but the amazing Avendell’s.

I’m not sure who they made it for but it makes me think of my first fic, where Hermione takes Draco with her to find her parents and while still under the memory charm they wind up employing them at the dental office as a fake married couple that can’t seem to keep things fake. They live, coincidentally enough, in a flat with no curtains.

Here’s an excerpt, if that’s okay:

From “The Oblivious Ones” by Diamonddaydream

The attic flat was ablaze with sunlight in the morning, magnified by the fresh pale yellow paint on all four walls. Hermione woke first, blinking, slightly sore after a day of hard physical work, but untouched on her side of the dam of cushions down the centre of the bed. Despite the bright light, Malfoy slept on. Maybe he was sick. She sat up to check on him over the cushions. Sunlight suffused through his skin and hair, giving him a positively, deceptively angelic look as he slept against the white pillow cases.

She laughed quietly, through just her nose. He was not a monster, no longer the exploited child puppet of a monster. He was a decent traveling companion, a terrible faker, possibly a decent excuse for a husband, but he was no angel. Was he still angry, like he had been last night when she was momentarily desperate for somewhere to sleep besides their shared bed?

His fingers lay curved and relaxed on the pillow beside his face. Was it just more deceptive innocence? This was the boy who had once wished to send flowers to the person who'd given her a black eye.

Yes, but he did notice the black eye.

She fell back against her pillow. Now that bully was the man who had told her it was not alright with him if she got hurt. Any marriage is serious, transformative, but hers was also confusing and possibly dangerous. The safest thing she could do at that moment would be to get up, tidy her side of the bed, and busy herself with the day. But then he might not know she had eventually come to bed and stayed there all night, warmed by his heat, safe, and she wanted him to know.

She lifted her hair to see if any of his smell had transferred to her. It hadn't.

Her quick backward fall into the pillows had disturbed him, and Malfoy was grumbling and squinting awake in the sunlight.

"Good morning," she sang from her side of the bed. "Seems we'll need to hang some curtains right away. It's rather bright up here."

He rubbed his eyes, peering at her over the cushions. "You look rested. So why do I still feel so bad? Did you stupefy me in my sleep, just to be safe?"

She swatted him across the cushion dam...

I powered through 'diamonddaydreams' story Between Brothers on AO3 the other day and felt inspired to create the following. Summer of '79 was inspired by chapter 5 paying hommage to Molly and Lucius, and Gravida Triadum by chapter 32, paying hommage to Severus and Narcissa. I may be inspired to make a couple more.... “He’s out there alone,” Hermione went on. “After months of following him all over the country, watching over his tent while he slept – Harry has wound up alone.”

Draco perched his chin on her shoulder. “I don’t know if it helps for you to think of it this way, but if he’s gone to meet Voldemort, he won’t be alone. Voldemort never meets anyone alone. It’s meant to be a show of his strength and support. But it’s really a show of his fear. And there's nothing he's more afraid of than Potter.”

She sighed and let her head sink back against Draco's.

“My parents will be with him,” Draco went on. “My mother will be there, with your wand in her hand.”

Hermione hummed. “Will that help Harry?”

There was a pause as Draco considered it. “I can’t say. But I know it won’t hurt him.”

“What if Voldemort figures out you’re master of the Elder wand, like we did?” she said, finding Draco’s hand and flattening her palm against his, studying the differences between his long, white fingers and hers. "I'm not sure the Triad wands will hold back a direct attack from the Elder wand."

“Andromeda did say the wands could defy, but not defeat the Deathstick,” he said.

“Don’t call it that,” she said, turning to face him, pushing him onto his back on the cushions and lying on his chest. In spite of the wind, he was warm, his heart beating steadily against her ear. “We need to think of some other way to keep you safe if he comes. If he isn't able to kill Harry yet because you're alive and you have the Elder wand's allegiance, he won’t hesitate to have you killed some other way.”

Draco plunged his hand into her hair, nestling her closer. It was true, but what could he do short of running and hiding? No, there was nothing for him to do but lie here and savour holding her for what might be the last time. It didn’t feel like the last time, but who can ever know something like that?

All at once, she propped herself up to look at his face. "Would your parents defy him if he attacked you?"

Draco sighed again, his voice in it, a miserable sound. "My mother might. My father – no."

His sadness, well-hidden up until now, was unbearable to her. She climbed up his torso so their faces were level, her lips hovering over his, almost touching.

“This is not helping me think of a way to defeat the Elder wand,” Draco warned. But it was not a complaint, and his hands found the warm smoothness of her waist inside her jumper.

“Let’s take just a moment,” she said, brushing her mouth against his. “Just one moment to be Cupid and Psyche again...”

Thanks for the trust!

I’m quite shameless and rec my own fic.... The Phoenix Potion - It somehow became huge.... But I’m actually quite proud of that fic.... Foreshadowing, plot twists, and hidden hints. It’s a mystery in the present time, but canon events and my Dramione twisted version of them come into play.... And the solution lies in the past....Not yet finished though, although I had originally planned on 30 maybe 40 chapters.... haha!

If you are into HEA and want to laugh I would rec everything by @kyonomiko. In their fics, everyone stays much in character. My favourite must be Waifs and Strays where Draco becomes an animagus and moves in with Hermione and Harry as a ... no not a ferret, a marten. It’s funny and cute ..... (finished)

If you like school fics look at the fics by @dramionedaydream (diamonddaydream on AO3) Draco takes a mark is finished.

If you are into Slytherin as supportive friends you should give @riane-b13 and their Clothes maketh the man a try. I love Neville in that fic. I love him anyway, but in this fic he is particularly nice.

@heyjude19-writing quite recently started what I would say is a coffeeshop AU.... (Remain nameless) Mutual pining and angst galore though (and later well earned smut), and I’m quite sure that the revelation of their relationship will not go as well as they hope...

If you are into angsty war fics you might like Entanglement by @blankfishxx . It’s almost too painful for me....

A nice Epilogue what Epilogue is Hermione Granger and that Damn Malfoy Boy by aurelia_21. With this fic I persuaded @really-sad-devil-guy to give Dramione a try....

An education by icognitoro has Draco very, very much in character and is also EWE as is Somewhere down the line by nifizzle which has Draco as an author (and a solution to the Dramione dilemma which I guessed!). Both are finished.

Not quite dark magic by @hiccupfound is finished as well, and it has a very interesting ‘grey’ order and is a war fic (and has some Fremione).

Clean and Marked by @olivieblake actually made me revisit the Dramione ship. They are HBP and TDH AUs and finished as well and are sort of classics.

As HBP and TDH AUs go, I also liked Chosen by 5moreminutes very much. Draco is very much in character, and they explore the idea of the elder wand much better than in canon if you ask me.

Pièce de Résistance by allforobscurereferences doesn’t have that many chapters yet but is a very promising Marriage law fic.

I also liked The Best of Me by @mrsren which is a ‘Hermione was obliviated’ fic and finished (and has an adorable Scorpius).

The Binding by @curlykay is a fic that goes through the Hogwarts years, canon bent and has an adorable peacock on the grounds of Malfoy Manor who should be an honourable member of the Order of the Phoenix....

The Cursed Bracelet by nerd_mom_writer is an Eighth Year fic which I find particularly intriguing.

No rec list would be complete without Wait and Hope by @mightbewriting. This is just too good to be true.... And the author drops the prequel as well, chapter by chapter (Beginning and End)

And I read anything @senlinyu writes. I don’t especially like war fics, especially if Draco is too dark or if it’s to gritty but I read Manacled (and I actually have a post in my drafts, why I like it so much, even though Draco is fucked up and the whole world it takes place in is incredibly depressing), I abhor A/B/O fics, they are really, really, really not my cup of tea and yet I read hers (All you want). She has also a very, very nice DracoVeela fic (Love and Other Misfortunes). I actually like DracoVeela, so if pressed I would probably say that this is my favourite amongst senlinyu’s fics.

So, as you can see I went through my bookmarks and my subscriptions and tried to set up a nice bouquet of Dramione fics with some finished, some unfinished, some popular, some maybe not yet popular enough and a variation of tropes.... And I’m sure I forgot some which I liked.

There are some very popular fics out there, which I haven’t read yet.... So I won’t say anything about them.

As every rec list, this is very very subjective.

I tried to @ the authors whenever I know their tumblr. Anybody, feel free to alert me if you know some more and I’ll edit this post.
