I tried to get our Gatekeep, Kir, to make a post on this since hes most qualified but he politely declined so I'll be filling for him on this subject.

Dragon Sales!

To some this may seem like a really weird system, but once it's been laid out it makes sense- at least to me. In Sorienth we have tolls of sorts for trade goods. A certain amount of any sale is taxed provided it's done in coin as a way to pay these tolls. In part, you're paying the toll fees for your new clan-mate to be able to even make it to your clan (as many dragons don't hoard individual wealth).

The rest of this fee is in two parts, a fee to the clan they were from as a sort of "thank you" gift. You could think of it as something similar to a dowry. The previous clan sets this price, it's the amount they're willing to take to let this clan member go.

The second part of the rest of that fee is to fund the travel of the dragon themselves! As I said, most dragons aren't independently wealthy. They need a way to buy food, pay for room and board, etc. Since they're on their way to becoming your new clan member, you pay for their travel and not the previous clan.

Depending on the dragon, these fees can both get pretty high, but sometimes you get lucky and either their previous clan doesn't want a payment (or its incredibly small) or the dragon doesn't need much food/sleeping on the way over!

A lot of dragonets don't fully understand this system and I'd wager a lot of dragons who aren't in the system don't really understand it either. Our clan is primarily those from the auction system so for the most part we all have a good grasp on it!

Happy to see the other two have already taken their turns. I'm Diamond, though I'm not opposed to nicknames haha. I was the first outside dragon to join the clan, and helped raise Future and Zealot's first clutch. Zealot was the one who invited me to join their little clan start up when she found me stranded on the Frigid Floes. I still don't really know how I ended up there, but I'm glad she found me!

I serve as an advisor for the clan, though I may as well be a third co-leader with how much work it is! I work closely with the other two advisors and the rest of the council to keep things running smoothly. You could say I'm also somewhat of a walking talking schedule too, I have all of the clan's upcoming events right up here in my beautiful skull!

I don't trust him to post often without dragging us into a conflict, but I'm going to see if I can get Arlong to share something. He's our Coliseum Commander!
