Ranking rpgs based on their combat
(this is only ones that i play and i know the older games are hard to compare to the newer games but i just think it’s nice to see the progression)
10: Mass Effect 1-I genuinely love playing this game but the combat really feels clunky and I HATE the overheating mechanic. I understand for lore reasons why it exists but they ditched the idea in the other games so honestly i’m not a fan. Overall it’s fun but the combat feels very annoying to me but i’ll give it grace for being basically as old as me.
9: Diablo 3-So it’s the only diablo game that iv played but honestly i just think the mechanics feel too repetitive. Like genuinely my biggest complaint with it is that i just get too bored with it even with all the powers you eventually can get. It all kinda feels like your doing the same thing over and over again (unless you find some really good combos).
8: Mass Effect 2-it feels a lot better than ME1 and using biotics is a million times better. However the leveling system kinda sucks and i think they should have just stuck with the system they used in ME1. But the fighting feels a lot better, not great but better.
7: Dragon Age Origins-it physically pains me to put it so low but this game is also old. I like the tactics system a lot and the abilities are so fun but basic combat is just very weird and can be super buggy, especially when bigger enemies can still hit you when you move out of the way so it feels like there’s no point at using certain tactics and you just gotta hit it with as much power as you can.
6: Greedfall-I genuinely love the combat in this game but it gets very boring after awhile. You have very limited abilities and honestly bigger fights just get frustrating because it feels like your just waiting for when you can use your abilities again. But it feels very smooth (for the most part).
5: Mass Effect 3-I love that they added being able to jump over certain things and roll away, it makes me feel more engaged in the fights. The biotics in this game are amazing but again, i hate the leveling system. Can they please just bring back the ME1 level system i’m begging them.
4: Dragon Age 2- So i am in fact the da2 combat target audience. I love how fun and flashy it is, i love having big aoes to use on hordes on enemies, i love being able to swing my weapons around and knock over people like bowling pins, it’s so fucking fun. Obviously it’s not like, the best but i genuinely adore it.
3: Mass Effect Andromeda-Unpopular opinion maybe, but i think combat in this game is fantastic. The jumping while fighting is so fucking fun, the biotics are so cool to use and i actually love the leveling system. The weapons are actually really good and overall i really love fighting in this game. If MEA has no fans i’m fucking dead what can i say.
2: Dragon Age Inqusition-I LOVE IT SO MUCH. I love jumping i love all the different abilities different classes get, i’m obsessed with the weapons and armor crafting. It has some of the flashy-ness that i love from DA2 but still has really good combat abilities and tactics.
1: Baldurs Gate 3-It is hard to compare this game to the others because it’s much more recent and it uses a different system than the others, but i think it provides a great example of what an amazing rpg should do. The different classes are so unique and the combat is genuinely so fun and actually makes me think.

Good News - April 22-28
Like these weekly compilations? Support me on Ko-fi! Also, if you tip me on here or Ko-fi, at the end of the month I'll send you a link to all of the articles I found but didn't use each week - almost double the content! (I'm new to taking tips on here; if it doesn't show me your username or if you have DM's turned off, please send me a screenshot of your payment)
1. Millions Of Maggots Donated To Charity In Honour Of The Maggot King
“[Blizzard Entertainment] donated millions of maggots to Tiggywinkles UK, a leading wildlife hospital, […] in honor of Duriel, the Maggot King, a notorious character in the Diablo series. […] This significant contribution is expected to feed the patients at Tiggywinkles for two years.”
2. New circuit boards can be repeatedly recycled
“A team led by researchers at the University of Washington developed a new PCB that performs on par with traditional materials and can be recycled repeatedly with negligible material loss. Researchers used a solvent that transforms a type of vitrimer—a cutting-edge class of sustainable polymers—to a jelly-like substance without damaging it, allowing the solid components to be plucked out for reuse or recycling.”
3. How a Cloned Ferret Inspired a DNA Bank for Endangered Species
“This black-footed ferret (Mustela nigripes) [is] the first endangered species in the U.S. to ever be successfully cloned […] from [a] cryogenically preserved cell line, obtained from a ferret named Willa, who lived in Wyoming in the 1980s. [… T]he FWS [is now] on a major project to cryogenically store tissue from every endangered species in the U.S., [… as] “an insurance policy against future loss of biodiversity in the wild.””
4. Maine Signs Trans And Abortion Sanctuary Bill Into Law, Despite Violent Threats
“[The new law] states that criminal and civil actions against providers and patients are not enforceable if the provision or access to that care occurred within Maine’s borders, asserting jurisdiction over those matters. It bars cooperation with out-of-state subpoenas and arrest warrants for gender-affirming care and abortion that happen within the state.”
5. $70M for Fish Passage Projects Address Climate Resilience, Strengthen Local Economies
“The Department of the Interior today announced more than $70 million […] that will improve fish passage around […] barriers fragmenting the nation’s rivers and streams [… as an] “investment to restore our nation’s rivers and streams, safeguard endangered fish species, protect Indigenous subsistence practices and provide communities with increased opportunities for outdoor recreation and economic growth,” said Secretary Deb Haaland.”
6. A Golden Age of Renewables Is Beginning, and California Is Leading the Way
“California—the fifth-largest economy in the world—has experienced a record-breaking string of days in which the combined generation of wind, geothermal, hydroelectric and solar electricity has exceeded demand on the main electricity grid for anywhere from 15 minutes to 9.25 hours per day.”
7. Collaborative conservation efforts keep lake sturgeon off the endangered species list
“The Service’s 12-month finding [that these sturgeon are not endangered] shows ongoing management efforts, such as fish stocking, have contributed to the conservation and resiliency of the species. “Today’s announcement shows the power of collaborative conservation and the impact it can have for species like the lake sturgeon,” said Midwest Regional Director Will Meeks.”
8. French municipalities bordering Luxembourg to offer free transport to commuters
“Luxembourg is the only country in the world to offer entirely free public transport. […S]ix French communities located near the border and many of whose residents work in Luxembourg have decided to band together and also offer a free shuttle for daily workers. […] Last year, governments in the two countries said they would work to increase train services to run every 10 minutes between Metz and Luxembourg City by 2030. There’s also a plan to extend Luxembourg City’s tram service to reach all the way to the border – a trip that would take only 30 minutes when ready.”
9. Solar is about to get a lot more affordable for low-income households
“The EPA granted 49 state and territory awards totaling $5.5 billion, six tribal awards worth more than $500 million, and five multistate awards amounting to $1 billion. Together, the awards cover all 50 states, Puerto Rico, and the District of Columbia. All of the funding is dedicated to low-income and disadvantaged households.”
10. Amsterdam will cover cost of changing one's gender on documents
“[T]he city’s residents will be able to change the gender on their birth certificate and Basic Registration of Persons (BRP) free of charge. [… T]he local government will also reimburse (part of) the costs of a new passport, identity card or driver's license.”

Halls of Torment
[ID: The name of the game, Halls of Torment, in big, red letters next to a sword fighter and a person with a bow, surrounded by a horde of undead monsters. End ID]
A while ago, I couldn't scroll 5 min on reddit without coming across Vampire Survivors. Luckily, I really don't like vampires, so I blissfully ignored it, until the day I found this one instead. Now the problem is, I really do like Diablo, and that's how I lost several weeks of my life.
I mean, it's obviously not Diablo. But the artstyle reminds me of Diablo II, which was one of my first video games, with the isometric graphics and character select and flashy spells and big health bubble.
[ID: Main screen of the game, with the Halls of Torment logo above 9 characters standing around a large campfire. Text below reads Choose a hero! The rest of the area is blacked out. End ID]
I don't usually play roguelikes/lites, so I can't compare much, but the game consists of 30 min runs (+ menu time, + final boss) through procedurally generated maps with waves of monsters to be defeated.
When you start out, you are a warrior and have nothing, and the amount of different upgrades you can unlock is a bit overwhelming. There are:
New classes
New maps
Stat boosts
Items
Abilities
Traits
Potions
Everything is tied to achievements, and most of it has to be paid with gold. Beat a certain boss, unlock the next character or map. Deal a certain amount of damage with an ability, unlock a new upgrade for that ability.
Find and save the wellkeeper, and you unlock the ability to send the gear you find up one at a time, where you can purchase it with gold. Find and save the alchemist, then gather potion ingredients and then retrieve (and purchase) bottles to unlock potions that allow you to reroll traits, abilities, and gear, or to remove traits from the selection from this run, or even apply them twice.
[ID: Level up screen, showing a selection of 4 different traits that will increase movement speed, crit chance, area or block strength. Next to it is a box with several different potion options. End ID]
Does it have some annoyances? Sure. The randomness of the abilities and traits can be a pain when hunting for certain achievements — one is to inflict 100k slow stacks, for which I wanted two certain abilities and their upgrades. If I don't get them that run, tough luck, 30 min wasted.
The game is in early access, so things still change regularly, and your overpowered favorite item might get a nerf, or the requirements for an achievement you almost reached change. For a while, I also had some crashes with some of the new skills, annoyingly after 20 min of a run, but those were quickly fixed.
[ID: The game screen, with the left side showing a round health bubble and a blue experience bar, and the right side showing all active abilities, blessings, the agony IV (4) rank, as well as gold, monsters slain, and remaining time. In the middle, the map is basically covered in monsters, with many bright red debuff effects over their heads, as well as fire, and floating damage numbers. End ID]
The effects can be a bit much. You have pretty much every variant of flashing, blinking, glowing, moving lights. Luckily, a lot of the effects can be turned off, and a lot of the abilities you don't have to use ever again once you unlock their achievement.
There is a demo available, but the worst offenders are pretty late unlocks. One item, for example, is a pair of boots that charge while moving and then send out a circular shockwave.
[ID: The item stash, showing the equipped gear of the Sorceress, with 4 fields for loadouts below, and all available items to the right. They're sorted in categories of helmets, amulets, rings, armor, boots and gloves. A note below reads: You can buy new items from the Wellkeeper, once you've retrieved them through the well. End ID]
The maps aren't spectacular, but visually very different, and two of them have fun gimmicks. Some of the quests/unlocks require specialized builds, some brute force, and you can always farm more gold to unlock all items. One thing I love, there isn't only one valid build. I was able to kick ass on pretty much every class.
Watching my weakling warrior grow from dying in 5 min to standing still killing everything on screen with his hands tied behind his back was very satisfying. So far, I got 70 hours out of this, and the last level isn't even out yet. I played all of them on the steam deck, which it fully supports, even if the text is a bit small, and the overcrowded effect mess severely affects the performance.
Best 5 Euro I've ever spent.

The Best Games of 2009 | A Pivotal Year
2009 was the year I went to E3. It was one of the most exciting trips I've ever taken and with it, came a tiny sample of what it would have been like to work in the games industry professionally. The whole idea behind these lists was to fill a gap in my experience before and since I took this trip. 2009 was also a huge year for me personally as it was when I moved back to the Jackson-Metro area and switched careers to my current one (still not in the games industry). So much has happened both in and out of the industry, this post will be a fun snapshot to explore.
Remember, (I say like anyone is reading) this post will be written as if it were published in December of 2009, so all critiques will be from that perspective. LFG!
#10 - Left 4 Dead 2
The original Left 4 Dead defined a brand-new corner of co-op gaming and by no means is it old or boring, so the sheer existence of Left 4 Dead 2 is shocking. It tweaks and improves basically everything from the first game and gives us new survivors and new infected. Valve hit us with the surprise announcement of L4D2 at E3 this year and that surprise likely won't disappear any time soon.
#9 - The Beatles: Rock Band
It's Rock Band, but The Beatles. I kind of wish it was more than that, but having a beautiful tribute to the most celebrated band in history in one of my favorite games is hard to complain about.
#8 - Trine
What feels like a simple platform game is actually an intriguing physics puzzle box dripping with medieval charm. Trine takes familiar concepts and glues them together in a game that borders on the exact right amount of chaos for the genre. More than once my heroes accidentally sent a magic box careering off the screen as my little brain tried to cheese a jump well enough to hit a ledge. Trine earns it's wackiness and is a breath of fresh air because of it.
#7 - Halo 3: ODST
It's Halo 3, but Blade Runner. Ok that's a bit dismissive, but who knew the tried and true formula of Halo would graft so well onto a cyberpunk-esq world. ODST could've just been a pallet swap with Oribital Drop Shock Troopers taking center stage, but the changes were much more game-altering. Most importantly it is has a sleeker vibe than the previous 3 games. OSDT is cool, the way Blade Runner's dark and always raining aesthetic is cool. Will it age as well as the other Halo games, who knows, but today ODST is super dope.
#6 - Borderlands
Part irreverent joke, part Diablo-inspired loot-a-thon, part RPG, part first-person action, Borderlands blends so many different things so well, its hard to believe we haven't been getting games like this for years. Oh and did I mention it's class-based too? Borderlands is the entire games industry in a blender, and then cell-shaded. It's not without its fair share of jank, but there is enough meat on the bone to confidently say Borderlands is one of the best games of the year.
#5 - Shadow Complex
The Metroidvania genre is a storied niche with some of the most fiercely beloved games in it. However, publishers will tell you, while they play well and score high in reviews, they don't sell well. This means they aren't as prevalent as your FPSs or straightforward platformers. Shadow Complex mixes everything you love from the genre and brings it into the modern era with competent puzzles and action and the forever memorial foam gun. Will SC usher in a new generation of Metroidvanias? Who knows, but it definitely has defined what it means to be a modern one.
#4 - inFAMOUS
Sucker Punch is no stranger to great Sony first-party games. Sly Cooper was quite a dark horse of the PS2 generation. inFAMOUS is the studio graduating to the big leagues. Taking their knowledge of open-world design and grafting it onto what is essentially a superhero story, really makes this game pop. Not every open world will keep your attention long term, but inFAMOUS will gladly steal hours upon hours of time stringing together compelling story and non-story activities. I'm not a huge fan of Cole as a character, but the story built around him is more than adequet.
#3 - Batman: Arkham Asylum
Arkham Asylum is the best example of a 3D Metroidvania since the Gamecube's Metroid Prime. The puzzle-box nature of getting around the Asylum grounds works on both a structural and narrative level. Detective vision is legitamately a revolutionary mechanic and the visercal feel of the combat, is surprisingly satisfying. All of this being in a licensed game is mindblowning. The odds say Batman Arkham Asylum should suck, but it might just have ushered in a new direction for licensed games.
#2 - Assassin's Creed II
When the first AC game came out it felt like the official beginning of the new console generation. There was a revolution in the way games were being made and AC's potential very much out weighed its execution. AC2 is the realization of all the previous game's ideas. Gone are most of the clunky assassination plots, blown open are the open world maps, Altiar is a much better character and Italy is a much better setting. AC2 isn't just the sequel, but a true 2.0 for a frachise that's just beginning to stretch its legs.
#1 - Uncharted 2: Among Thieves
So, here's where we are, video games are just movies now. Are we ok with that? It seems like we are, at least as long as the output is akin to Uncharted 2. Like Assassin's Creed 2, Drake's second outing is the realization of what Naughty Dog was trying the first time around. The story and action beats are as good as what you would find in the biggest budget summer blockbuster, and the characters are better. I've herd alot of chatter saying "Sony should make an Uncharted movie" and I say "nah, they already did." Dare I say Uncharted 2 is a perfect game? Maybe, but I will shout to the roof tops how perfect the already iconic train sequence is.
Noteable Omissions
Dragon Age Origins - RPGs and fantasy are not my thing, I've said it before and I'll say it again, it's probably great, but just not for me.
Demon's Souls - Nothing about Demon's Souls sounds appealing to me. A hyper hard Japanese developed fantasy action game that prioritizes frame animation over raw twitch timing? No thank you.
Bayonetta - I'm American, in America Bayonetta was released in 2010. Tune in next time to see if it makes the list.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 - Honestly, CoD:MW2 almost made the list. If this was top 11, you'd probably see it at the end of it.
Hmmm, I just noticed, there's no Nintendo on this list. Oh well, this was fun! catch you next time.
Cheers

TWST OC :D
Based on Diablo from Sleeping Beauty. He's an older oc of mine who had a few changes about 4 or 5 months ago!
Name: Apollyon Belladonna
Nicknames: Polly, Cuttlefish-Chan, Monsieur Bijoux
Age/Year/Birthday: 18, Third year (Class 3-C), August 9th
Club: Science
House: Diasomnia
Homeland: Briar Valley (Previously Queendom of Roses)
Description-
Apollyon is a tall young man at about 187cm or 6'1. He's quite pale, with a slimmer build and long dark brown hair. He also has lighter brown eyes and has a few small piercings (Including both lobes, an industrial in his right ear, a labret and a bridge.)
Specieswise, Apollyon is a changeling. (Which I plan on giving a lore post for my oc universe at some point. :D) However, he is registered and known as human, minus the Diasomnia cast. He typically dresses more casual than to be expected of Diasomnia, having grown up in The Queendom of Roses. He doesn't wear the overcoat with his dorm uniform.
Personality/Character traits-
Apollyon is relatively quiet, not speaking to the Ramshackle prefect until book 7, and rarely speaking to many of the students at all. Despite this, he has a reputation of a bad temper, along with rumours of being somebody not to fight with. In contrary, he is relatively easy to get along with, even easier if you can make him laugh. He has a habit of responding in quite snippy or sassy ways, though normally in friendly banter.
Apollyon is quite intelligent, however a few words can go over his head, including his own name for a short time. He's skilled at making quick decisions and at archery. He's been praised for being a quick learner and thinker.
Unfortunately, he's also pretty lame 😔 It's not unheard of to see him panic over his words, getting knocked over or tripping over when not concentrating. His quick thinking allows him to play it off though. Usually.
He's very agile and light on his feet, making him able to move around quickly and quietly, for better or worse. His flexibility can often cause shock, as it's something he very rarely brings up.
His unique magic is related to petrification (Turning things to stone) and is yet to be named, though I'm open to suggestions.
I'm happy for any questions or interactions relating to him! :D

Zoltun Kulle, Sand Shaper - CR14 Humanoid
I bear the same scars they all did. They knew the truth of it. But the fools buried their heads in the sand.
Artwork is concept art from Diablo III, copyright Blizzard Entertainment.
High level wizards are cool enemies, but running a creature with 30+ spells available is a chore for DMs, and can be kind of unrewarding to players who gain very little benefit from learning what the enemy can do. This “wizard” NPC isn’t actually built like a wizard, and is instead designed as a unique creature without class levels. It uses prepared spellcasting like a wizard, but has an unusual number of spell slots, and doesn’t have any spell slots below 4th level except for cantrips.
The sand shaper is based on Zoltun Kulle from Diablo III, who IMO is probably the best-written villain in the entire Diablo series. “Sand Shaper” is the generic name for this creature.
It’s a very hard creature to permanently kill, as high level wizards tend to be, mostly thanks to its Prepared Soulstone ability. Unlike a lich, however, a sand shaper doesn’t begin reforming on its own. Someone else has to find and break its soul gem. It can communicate in order to trick someone into releasing it, which might be how the PCs first encounter this creature.
A couple of sand golems would be a perfect fit as minions during this boss fight if the sand shaper doesn’t already have allies - sand golems are exactly what Zoltun Kulle used as minions. An ideal battlefield would have some obstacles that he can teleport past but also see across, like a high ledge or a large hole in the ground. A sand shaper should typically be teleporting away from enemies any round in which they’re nearby, using dimensional steps.
Sand Shaper - CR 14

This ability is used as part of a move action or withdraw action, allowing the sand shaper to move up to 160 feet to any location it can see. This counts as 5 feet of movement. A sand shaper can only use this ability once per round. A sand shaper does not provoke attacks of opportunity when moving in this way, but any other movement it attempts as part of its move action provokes as normal.
Energy Twister (Sp) As a standard action, as a spell-like ability, a sand shaper can create a twisting tornado of wind and force magic within medium range (typically 260 feet), which occupies a 50 foot high, 10 foot wide pillar. When this spell is cast, and again each round at the start of the sand shaper’s turn, the sand shaper can move the tornado up to 15 feet as a free action, and any creature or object that it passes through must succeed on a Reflex save (typically DC 23) or take 3d6 bludgeoning damage and 2d6 force damage. The tornado lasts for 1 round per caster level (typically 16 rounds).
Additionally, the area of the tornado is treated as an area of dust that grants concealment (20% miss chance), and projectile attacks through the tornado are impossible.
Treat this as a 5th-level evocation spell.
Soul Gem Telepathy (Su) While its soul is trapped within a soul gem (see the Prepared Soulstone ability), a sand shaper can telepathically communicate with creatures within 30 feet of its soul stone.
Spellcasting A sand shaper prepares and casts spells from the wizard spell list, using its Intelligence as its spellcasting ability score. It has an unusual number of spell slots; see the statistics above. It has a spellbook, which functions like a wizard’s spellbook, and without this spellbook it cannot prepare spells except for read magic.
Prepared Soulstone (Su) A sand shaper can prepare and cast trap the soul in place of one of its 8th level spells, but can only cast the spell on itself. When it does so, it functions as the “trigger object” version of trap the soul, except that the trigger is any effect that would kill the sand shaper, rather than touching or receiving a trigger object. When the sand shaper would normally die, whether from damage or any other cause, its soul is instead trapped within the soul gem (typically the gemstone listed in its inventory), preventing its death.
A typical sand shaper has cast this spell long before entering combat, and hidden its soul gem somewhere far away.
Zone of the Slowed Hourglass (Sp) As a standard action, as a spell-like ability, a sand shaper can create a zone within long range (typically 1040 feet) with a 20-foot radius where time is slowed for all creatures and objects except itself. The edges of this zone shimmer as if sand were slowly trickling down them. The zone lasts for 1 round per 2 caster levels (typically 8 rounds).
All creatures except for the sand shaper that are within this area when the spell is cast, or that enter it later, must succeed on a Will saving throw (typically DC 23) or be slowed (as the slow spell) and entangled while within the area. A creature that passes its save is only entangled. A creature makes this saving throw only once per spellcast; if it leaves and re-enters the area, it uses its previous result.
Additionally, any projectile attacks that are fired from or into the area, or that pass through it, move very slowly, and do not connect with their target until 1 round later. If the intended target is no longer in the same space after that time, the projectile automatically misses. If a different target has moved into that space, the projectile attack has a 50% chance of hitting the new target (though the attack roll must still hit the target’s AC as normal).
Treat this as a 6th-level transmutation spell. Spell resistance applies to the effect on creatures, but not to the effect on projectile attacks.

Stream-of-consciousness thoughts for Trigun Vol. 2, Chapters 2-4 below.
Chapter 2: Diablo
Ok, Legato Bluesummers is a HUGE problem child, but I LOVE LOVE LOVE his character design. This guy would adore goth fashion.
I wonder who's decided Vash deserves this particular hell. Also, it's noteworthy that the fact that they're sending TWELVE assassins after him (presumably one at a time) suggests they expect at least the first few to fail.
"Anyone in their right mind would keep that man locked up!" Hahahahahahahaha, try it.
Ugh, poor Vash.... He looks so sad and angry... and a bit scary. I'm worried for him.
It would be absolutely understandable if his feelings here were toward the humans unjustly locking him up, but the text goes on to let us know that the primary thing on his mind... the source of all his feelings right now... is Knives.
Flashback time!
Ohhhh, this is a place where '98 hard deviated, but Stampede stayed the course. '98 had Vash, Knives, and Rem running around with a handful of other characters back then, but here, it's just them.
Honestly, I feel like this panel is hitting on more story themes than are immediately apparent.
How sad that loneliness drove her to join Project Seeds. Sad, but understandable.
Oh, Vash, babygirl. Someone hug him.
You know, there's another character who wears an outfit that looks very similar to this in present day. And it's not Vash.
Full-on mom mode here in telling them what to do.
Vash looks older in this scene than he did in either anime adaptation.
Obscuring Knives's face. Smart. Can't see too much of him until it's Time.
TBH, Knives's argument here feels like justification after the fact. Like he needs a reason for everything that just happened to be right despite any elements of it going sideways.
For a pacifist, he sure can rock some serious murderface.
The ease with which he flips from murderface to softboi face is a bit disturbing.
He says this, but babygirl here looks SO TIRED. Whether or not he believes what he's saying, I think he really needs their kindness right now.
I don't know what Milly is trying to say/do here, but I wish her the best!
I just want to note that knowing my kana has made the sound effects a LOT more fun for me than they'd be otherwise.
Mmmmmm, something tells me Vash is likely to be out of there before morning. It might be this big guy who just showed up and opened fire, it might not. Who can say?
Oh, honey. Vash is NEVER unarmed. Even when he's literally missing an arm.
Hi, Monev! Thank you for introducing yourself to the class! You can sit down now. There's an empty seat right over there.
Yeah, the LAST thing Vash needs is to be trying to protect some bystanders against anyone making this level of posturing.
Good question, Monev. I don't think Vash is quite sure what he's up against, but he's clearly not going to underestimate you or take any chances. Not after meeting Legato.
Goshdarnit, the girls are still here.
Yeah, this could get messy.
I feel like Meryl taking a hit here was kind of nodded to in Stampede, where she also rushed in against Monev and nearly got herself killed.
See? Gun arm. Vash is never unarmed.
Annnd he's no longer chained down, either.
Not sure what's going on here, but I doubt it will be good for the building.
Yep. Sayonara, windows. We barely knew thee.
What's wrong, Monev? Looks like you might have bit off more than you can chew.
Oh, man. This end panel, though. Current favorite Vash murder pose.
Something something Hellsing something Alucard something aesthetic inspiration.
Chapter 3: Fragile
(The title makes me think of this song.)
Oof, little Meryl. I'm glad Milly's taking care of her.
I wish it was apparent who was thinking they can't let Vash go. I'm guessing it's Meryl, but that's based on metagame knowledge.
Iconic Vash pose.
Oof, goodbye, buildings. May you meet up with the windows from the previous chapter in whatever afterlife architecture ends up in.
Ok, this pause, though. This deliberate pause. The way the panels move from Vash shouting as loud as he can, to this almost peaceful pose of his back with the "ooooo" hum being the only indication of movement as he looks at a literal wall, to the GIANT SWISS CHEESE EXPLOSION. That's such a good build.
Ahhhh, and then this show of him focusing on the next page. People are getting shot, the world is exploding, and his gun is PERFECTLY LEVEL, his eyes are open. He's watching and waiting like a freaking ambush predator.
Aaaand he's injured. Darnit.
BUT HE MADE THE SHOT. TWICE. And Monev knows it.
Milly, still trying to help. <3
Heh, Vash might have lost the arm, but he didn't lose the arm. Hahahahahahahaha
Babygirl, remember the lesson you were trying to impress on Katie in the last volume. Don't get so caught up in your memories that you forget to be in the moment. The past is already fixed. The moment is where you can do the most good.
Something something it may seem silly something will to survive.
Uhhhh, why are we going to the bank now? Maybe something about that vault being thick and potentially safe?
Dang, we can just follow the blood trail, can't we?
Oof, trying to reload one-handed like this. Hands shaking. Trying to remember his own potential despite everything.
Uhhh... why was there just a bag of weapons hanging out there? Did Monev put it there earlier? It looks like something you'd find in a video game.
Honestly, this security guard should just take the night off.
Can't have Trigun without the bigass guns...
Vash is using the door as a shield. Just not the way one would suspect.
Again, with that perfectly steady hand.
Goodbye, Monev tough-guy mask. Hello, knee to the face.
Even after all this, Vash's resolve immediately cracks when he sees Monev's genuine fear of dying.
Again, with Rem's form blending into his and dominating the page. Meanwhile, he's just a shadow in the corner. Again, with the heavenly imagery of her, where here the only think keeping her from looking like a traditional angel is the lack of wings. But her hair, the way the cloth flows around her, and her whole pose speaks of angel's flight.
And, shaking, his gun dripping with blood from the force with which he shoved it in Monev's eye, he comes back to himself. And loses it in an entirely different way.
I love this last panel. It makes Vash seem so small and so alone. At the same time, literally everyone else in the panel aside from Monev is coming toward him to help. He might feel alone, but he's far from it.
Chapter 4: Scars
Ah, yes. Fragile things do end up with scars, if they don't break.
Honestly, what Meryl is typing here sounds far more journalistic than insurance agent-y.
She's starting to realize that, while Vash himself is a nice and gentle soul, there's a lot about him she doesn't know. I'm reminded of that quote, "No one will ever know the violence it took to become this gentle."
(BTW, I'm listening to the Stampede soundtrack and it's currently playing the version of Knives's theme with vocals and it's NOT HELPING.)
(Also, it sounds like SOMEONE is developing a bit of a crush on Mr. The Stampede.)
Monev seems to have grown some respect for Vash.
Ha, they gave this line to Wolfwood in Stampede.
I appreciate Vash's response. It says a lot about his character. Even when he seems like he's trusting, he's generally being far more cautious than people think he's being.
Quest #1: Complete! You've acquired a Coin Half!
*sigh* Everyone's scared, but he saved them all. But... their concerns aren't unjustified. If one assassin found him, the others likely will, too. And it's not like they'd send their biggest guns for Round 1.
You really shouldn't just walk straight into people's rooms. Even if you knock. Lucky for everyone he already had pants on.
Ugh, he's such a mess....
LOL, buddy. I hope that's not why you're turning down the opportunity for sex. And... if a partner really cared about you, it's not like she'd think less of you for them. Hasn't anyone ever told you chicks dig scars? Good on Meryl for calling him out.
Vash might have initially been put off by them seeing his scars, but now that they have, he doesn't seem to see a reason to hide them.
I don't think Vash could live a quiet life if he wanted to. Not with the Gung-Ho Guns hunting him. We'll not get into Ericks for the time being.
This is such a thing, though. I don't think she would fault him or think any less of him if he never bothered to settle that score. Then again, all things considered, him taking a back seat in all this would kind of be ignoring a ticking time bomb that might undo all she sacrificed for.
Huh, it's a bit of a surprise they let Monev stay for a few days, too.
There's something hilarious about Meryl's roller suitcase in the middle of the desert here.
LOLOLOL, Milly calling out Meryl for her intense interest in Vash.
Milly is a lot more devious than she looks....
Uhhhhh, what's with the cross? What's with Vash's panic?
Ohhhh, shit. Is that Monev??
Yep, it's Monev. Is... is he still alive??? Crucifixion is specifically designed to 1) be IMMENSELY painful (the spikes are generally hammered not through the palms, where they'd just rip out, but through the nerve bundle that runs up the forearm between the bones, which are holding the majority of your weight), and 2) slowly kill via exposure.
Nooooo, I don't like this guy alreadyyyyyyy....
I... I don't think Monev had a home. Not really. Not like the Gung-Ho Guns were gonna welcome him back to the mansion basement. He'd need to make a new path for himself in the world.
Yyyyep, it's E.G. Mine. Please send him back where you found him. I don't like him.
Vash, staying focused in this.
TBH, that get-up looks EXTREMELY uncomfortable.
I agree, Vash. I agree. I hope you can dodge this trolley problem with an Option 3.
Hahahaha, Vash manages to disable E.G. before his bag has a chance to drop to below shoulder level.
Howwww. How did he know Legato was watching?!
Oh, good. Legato's surprised by it all, too. And almost got shot. He's taking it pretty well, though.
Go for the source of the problem rather than the riffraff it's kicking up. Wise. Legato doesn't look pleased by this change of plans. But I think Vash is right to decide this quest is shit.
I feel very Two Cakes-y about manga Monev vs. TriStamp Monev.
(Warning: Spoilers for Trigun: Stampede ahead.)
There are things I like about both. And while TriStamp wrapping Vash directly into his backstory and mucking much more clearly with Monev's head might be a bit off-putting to some, I appreciated how much more personal they made his arc to Vash. You have all the same elements; a boy betrayed and trained to be a monster, released primarily to cause Vash pain, and then just as it seems he might be saved from everything he's been through, his life is cut short in a way that does NOT endear Vash to his killer.
But in Stampede, Monev's arc also holds the full weight of 20 years of Vash being too late. Too late to save the town. Too late to save the boy. To short-sighted to see the consequences of just trying to help. Too slow to save the man.
It makes it hit in a far more meaningful fashion... but I don't know that it would be right for manga Vash at this point in his story arc. Right now, he needs to recognize and reconcile what he is and isn't. We've seen far more of him being silly than we've seen of him being dangerous, and here, we see him leaning into his more dangerous side. Through his arc in the manga, we too must start to ask the questions Meryl asks, and might begin to wonder if, perhaps, the Humanoid Typhoon is far closer to the edge than he immediately appears.
#poor vash has had to spend too much time being serious in these chapters#though for SOME REASON i think that trend is likely to continue...#trigunbookclub#trigun manga#volume 2#pancake analysis

Progress Report (Weeks 2-3)
Where Am I Now?
So far, I am still in the early stages of development. I did some research on my topic and completed my worksited sheet. I thought about my options for the type of video games I could play that would produce results. The game has to be multiplayer, **dependent on multiplayer aspects and have a form of communication (i.e., chat box, voice chat). I have narrowed down my options (from most likely to least likely):
• V Rising (an open-world survival game where you try to conquer the world as a vampire)
• Roblox (online gaming platform with a variety of games to play)
• Diablo Immortal (an MMORPG where you battle against ancient evils)
Note: I have experienced playing all of these games before. My progress in each game differs as I have played some games longer than others.
**Some games are MMOs or have a multiplayer option, however, they are more focused on single-player aspects (i.e., Genshin Impact, Black Desert, Tower of Fantasy). You are unable to complete the main story with other players in these types of games.
I have a general idea of how I would create and release each video of my YouTube Series. My plan is subject to change over time. I would set aside one or two days a week for recording/playing. The next step would be editing and reflecting on what had happened during the time I was playing with other people. My goal is to produce at least one or two videos per week.
Weekly Upload Plan (YouTube Series)
1. Record/play game
2. Watch and edit video
3. Insert reflection
4. Finalize video
5. Upload
Where Am I Headed?
I have a lot of work to do since I did not take the pre-capstone class. What I hope to do next is finish up researching my topic so that I am able to move forward with my project. I will also continue with planning and deciding what video game(s) I will be focusing on for the YouTube series. I am thinking about focusing on one or two games so that I could create a more thoughtful reflection after each gameplay. I will continue to research more sources related to social skills and games with the feedback I have received from Sharla.

Xbox One: Diablo IV....Season 5!
So, last season I finally jumped into understanding it better. I finished Diablo IV the game, and then skipped a couple of seasons. Season 4 was fantastic! On to Season 5!
You do have to make a new character every season but that is a nice way to experience all the character types. This season is the Season of Infernal Hordes! Fight the Internal Hordes, Earn new Unique's and Legendary's, and Slay hell's finest in the seasonal realm. New questlines, hell breach dungeons, and The Fell Council leading hordes in World Tier 3.
I use battle pass to get the most out of the season on the season tab. It cost 1000 coins, but you can make that back if you see the season through and have enough for next season. You have season journey (7 chapters with 11 objectives each), seasons blessings (amplifiers for certain aspects of the game), and 90 levels with a variety of rewards (mounts, armors, smoldering ashes for blessings, emblems, portal skins, cosmetics of all kind, and platinum). Each class has its own story line you can do, there is a story line for the season as well. The mothers gift has 20 levels to achieve (like the iron wolves last season).
This time I am a Sorcerer, I have been a Rouge and a Necromancer. I started off in World Tier 2 and skipped the story. I am excited to grind away as I wait for the DLC! Look out for a post for that, who else is joining us on the Hell Tides?

long ass post about video games inc: Now that I'm done with classic WoW, there are little to no multiplayer games that I have any desire to play. And the main problem is that most multiplayer games are fucking trash. I would probably go back to Dark Age of Camelot if I had to pick one, but even then I tried it back up a few weeks ago and couldn't muster the motivation to play for more than 15 minutes. I used to play a shitload of Overwatch too. It was mindless, yes, but the game had a unique charm that somehow worked very well IMO. Yeah I didn't like the lootboxes, but Blizzard added a ton of free content throughout a few years so it didn't bother me that much. I mean, I've been used to paying for map packs for games 5-10 years prior, so getting maps AND characters for free? With all of the loot box items purchasable in game anyways? I'll deal with having that loot box only cash shop. But then, like all corps, they re-released Overwatch as a sequel just to make a disgusting cash shop, and totally ruined the game. Paying for heroes? Nah man, no thanks (I know they reversed this but I'm done with Blizzard for the time being). And like all newer Blizzard games (Diablo 4 specifically) there's always some battle pass live service shit that ruins the game for me. These CEO's love to boast about how "people actually want this stuff" because they look at the sales of FIFA and CoD games since those fanbases are full of mindless people that don't actually give a fuck about gaming enough to care. Sorry but your rich, high fantasy game is going to cater to gamers, not casual norman dads that play at most 3-4 hours a month. One of the more recent positively popular ones was Helldivers 2, but from what I've seen, the game looks very boring to me. Then the whole Playstation shit happened and now I don't want to bother. And I was really excited for a new MMORPG to come out. Plenty not making it out of pre-alpha, but one that particularly made some sense to enjoy was Pantheon: Rise of the Fallen, until they changed the art style and made it much worse, and also announcing some Escape from Tarkov/Battle Royale mode out of fucking nowhere, only to reverse that decision 24 hours later because of the backlash. Like this is an indie company, originally ran by the creator of Everquest until he passed away (RIP Brad), making an MMORPG with an old school philosophy and feel, and they decided to fucking waste resources on that shit? 0 faith in them until launch and I legit feel really bad for all the backers. I was almost one of them. Ashes of Creation so far looks like it may be decent but who knows. I really love the dual class system they got going on but there could always be some shitty change eventually. Anyways, I've been playing through single player games because they're just so much better in quality. I recently beat Dark Souls 1 and had a blast. I got every achievement on Steam. My next few games are Dread Delusion, Lunacid, Sea of Stars, Dark Souls III, and Elden Ring.

How to get Zoltun Kulle's Journals in Diablo 4
Picture: Blizzard Leisure If there's something that we'd all respect is a little bit of lore and context to what precisely is going on on the display. Properly, we’re in luck. Right here is how you can get Zoltun Kulle’s journals in Diablo 4.
Diablo 4: How one can get Zoltun Kulle’s Journals
In case you are confused about what precisely is going on throughout the Diablo 4 Season of the Assemble and marvel what brought about all this historical mechanic debacle, don’t fear an excessive amount of. That’s the place the “Kulle’s Coronary heart” enters the chat. You see, this seasonal quest will most likely reply a few questions you'll have in regards to the origin of Zoltun Kulle’s constructs and no matter occurred with them when Malphas took over, however you'll have to collect his journals concerning the matter. Hopefully, they don't have any compromising data, I imply, if a man’s lifeless, then do go over his personal data! Properly, anyway, there’s a complete of 5 totally different Zoltun Kulle’s journals, and the primary two – which are Entries 5 and three – are comparatively straightforward to search out: - Zoltun Kulle’s Journal, Entry 5: present in Gatehall, extra particularly within the room housing your stash. - Zoltun Kulle’s Journal, Entry 3: dropped after defeating Malphas throughout the “The Miracle” quest. Now, that’s two, the place are the opposite three? Properly, you might be out of luck – and you'll most likely want some -since Entries 1, 2, and 4 are inside Wardwoven Chests. These Wardwoven Chests are the final word prize for finishing Vaults, that are the seasonal Dungeons within the Season of the Assemble. To get these, you have to to supply a certain amount of stacks of Zoltun’s Warding. You get these by exchanging Pearls of Warding – dropped by Wardens of Malphas throughout the Arcane Tremors occasion – at Statues of Zoltun Kulle’s, proper on the Vault entrances. One Pearl grants 10 stacks of Zoltun’s Warding.
Picture: Blizzard Associated: Finest Class for Season 3 in Diablo 4, ranked Getting hit by traps in Vaults will decrease the stacks of Zoltun’s Warding you've got with you. The remaining Zoltun Kulle’s journals will randomly drop on Wardwoven Chests, so that you might need to finish a number of Vaults earlier than transferring ahead. Don’t know which class to select? Listed below are the perfect builds and tiers in Diablo 4 Season 3. Source link Read the full article

L’ordine crescente di rarità è: bianco (comune), blu (magico), giallo (raffinato), verde (maestro), viola (epico), arancione (leggendario) e rosso (mitico).
