I’m just going to break this down by the decades because the man definitely got freakier as the years went along- also forgive me Elvis, I’m sorry to air out your business like this 😭

There is not that much info on his preferences in the 1950s and the only source I have that says something informative is from Albert Goldman's "Elvis" so take this with a grain of salt: Based on an excerpt from his book it seems Elvis was primarily interested in your standard "dirty" magazine such as Playboy. Goldman alleges (and remember Lamar Fike was his main source) that Elvis would send one of the guys, on a monthly basis, down to Hollywood Boulevard where they would purchase such magazines, spending up to 40 dollars. There is also a story in June Juanico's book where she recounts walking in on Elvis and a few of the guys watching a "skin flick". When she questioned Elvis about it he claimed he was invited into the room by Dewey Phillips, not knowing that a p*rno was being shown (do y'all believe him lmaoo?)

and don’t mind him, just casually reading Playboy in the middle of a store 💀

His Polaroids of Priscilla and his tapes of girls wrestling were undoubtedly his preferred form of p*rn in the 1960s. This man would literally spend hundreds of dollars on film to photograph Priscilla. He also had guys in his group, primarily Alan Fortas, film women "making love" and wrestling. There were even tapes made of Priscilla and another woman (reportedly her friend) simulating s*x that Elvis personally filmed

Elvis' affinity for the Polaroids he took of Priscilla continued throughout the 1970s, Linda Thompson even mentions in her book that he would show them to her. He would also carry them around in a samsonite case pictured below⬇️

And there is also the notorious story of Elvis boarding a commercial plane, narcotics badge in hand, to prevent an employee referred to as “Hamburger James” by the Memphis Mafia and “Fetchit” by Linda Thompson, from escaping with a few Polaroids of Priscilla that he snatched and a ring of Elvis’, although Linda did say Elvis only really cared about the Polaroids. Elvis dragged Hamburger James off the plane, roughed him up a little, slapped him around, before eventually he letting him go

As the adult film industry evolved in the 1970s, his preferences definitely evolved with it. I'm still shook that Linda Thompson name dropped the two p*rnos that they watched together, but of course when I initially read her book my curiosity got the best of me and I watched what she named… and I'm still scarred 💀 (iykyk)

I wish I could find the comment, but someone on another post mentioned how in the 1970s, that sort of p*rn was "in" and quite avant-garde for the time period. Although the two p*rnos Linda mentioned seemed a little outlandish to me they were actually among the top five highest grossing of the 1970s, so if your perception of Elvis changed after watching "the Devil in Miss Jones", don't worry because everybody was watching it lmaoo. If you want to get another idea of what was highly regarded in the adult film industry at that time, know that "D**p Throat" starring Linda Lovelace was the most popular film of the 1970s, and the whole plot is that she had a medical condition where her cl*toris was located in her throat... they were innovative back then with their ideas, to say the very least 👀

I think Elvis always tried to be a really moral person, but with his lifestyle, there were times when he went "hog-wild," as Lamar put it, like on his army furloughs to Paris and going through all the Lido, Folies Bergere, and Crazy Horse dancers, and his weekends off in Germany at clubs like the Moulin Rouge. Towards the end of the 70s, I believe he was far more focused on finding his soulmate and willing to abstain from things like s*x and p*rnography in order to do so. Basically this man was too occupied with his spiritual books and search for lasting love to be interested in watching "d**p throat” 😂

Donald, Daisy, Huey, Dewey and Louie Duck in Australia in Sydney - Australia Day - Quack Pack and Duckverse - My first OC

Yes, I am late, because Australia Day is celebrated on the 26th of January, but for some reason I didn’t get to finish it until now. However, since I’m currently in the spirit of Australia, I’m going to publish some drawings of our heroes related to that country.

By the way, Australia Day is celebrated because on that day, in 1788, the first fleet made landfall and raised the British flag under the command of Arthur Phillip and founded Sydney there. Admittedly, the first settlers were prisoners.

I drew another drawing related to Australia Day and related to Quack Pack, primarily my version of Quack Pack (Quack Pack AU). I drew Donald and Daisy Duck, as well as Huey, Dewey and Louie Duck went to Sydney, Australia, of course as a tourist and reporter job (Daisy is a reporter and Donald is a cameraman). They went to visit a famous wildlife conservationist, explorer and adventurer called Steve Kangaroo (named after the famous Steve Irwin, also a wildlife conservationist, television personality, and educator who unfortunately ended tragically) and that is my first OC (original character) related to the Duckverse in general, and certainly for Quack Pack. Daisy interviews Steve Kangaroo for What In World (that's the name of the show Daisy hosts), while Steve hugs Donald, like his old friend, and Huey, Dewey and Louie hang out with Steve's son Jack Kangaroo (also my first OC and he is a teenager and is the same age as HDL), and Jack shows them a boomerang, as a well-known Australian tool, "weapon" and toy. And then there's Kent Powers, who hosts the What In World show, but he's unhappy that Daisy has taken over the image for him. There is also Steve's dog Dingo (a dingo dog based on the Ducktales 1987 episode "Back Out in the Outback"). And behind them you can see the famous Sydney Opera House.

I know that Quack Pack had problems with the writing in certain episodes, but the series itself turned out to be good, and I have one dissatisfaction with that series, that they did not introduce more anthropomorphic animals, so I did it my way, by introducing kangaroos (as inhabitants who live in Australia). XD Yes, Steve and Jack wear the famous Australian outfit and Wally Jr. outfit wildlife adventurer (if that's the right word) and I also found inspiration in Backwater Jack (also an Australian adventurer) from the Quack Pack episode "Hit the Road, Backwater Jack". Only Steve and Jack are not so timid and they are brave adventurers, and Jack would be one of the best friends of Donald's nephews, and especially he would hang out with Louie, since they have similar personalities, and he would be one of the regular visitors to Duckburg. And so they all go on a trip to Australia together. My only apologies are that the camera and certain things in bolding with the marker turned out badly. Events In The History And Of The Life Of Elvis Presley Today On The 4th Of July In 1956.

ELVIS PRESLEY RUSSWOOD PARK JULY 4TH, IN 1956 AT MEMPHIS TENNESSEE.

On the night of July 4, 1956, Elvis Presley Scotty Moore, Bill Black and D.J. Fontana were tasked with spearheading a benefit concert in Russwood Park, Memphis in front of approximately 14,000 fans (although it is believed that the actual attendance may have been slightly less) in the early morning hours so that we could stand as close to the stage as possible. A benefit concert. From Memphis Press-Scimitar for the Cynthia Milk Fund and the Variety Club House for Children in Recovery. It featured over 100 performers, supported by the Aaron Bluestein and Bob Morris groups Although the band closed for the last half hour, they volunteered to perform at the event that lasted more than three hours. The Jordanaires also flew to Memphis and appeared as surprise guests.

The concert was held two days after the RCA recording sessions and 3 days after Elvis Presley's performance on the Steve Allen Show in New York and he had to admit that his performances were in a way humiliating for him, to show to the conservative and uptight society of the time, as someone who dressed in a frock coat and sang to a Basset hound. Elvis Presley felt so humiliated by the treatment he received in New York that he decided to do this concert without any imposition, without any censorship, and he presented it to his audience as it really was. Dewey Phillips hosted the show while the local police, fire department and marine beach patrol provided security. Elvis Presley was driven to the park in a patrol car, but when the fans heard him coming, they surrounded the vehicle. Elvis Presley was escorted to the stage by all the security personnel involved, and Scotty told us that when he went upstairs, “Kandemonium” was unleashed.

When he finally made it on stage, Elvis Presley looked spectacular, dressed in all black, except for the tie and red socks. The frenzy erupted as fans rose from their seats and piled chaotically at the foot of the stage. As a reward At the entrance, he presented them with a $600 gold ring, his initials encrusted with 14 diamonds. At one point in the concert, Elvis Presley performed with absolute joy and confidence, addressing the crowd after the humiliation in New York and telling them: ‘You know, these people of New York are not going to change me in any way,’ he said. “Tonight I’m going to show you what the real Elvis Presley is like”. ON FEBRUARY 6, 1955 ELVIS, SCOTTY AND BILL PERFORMED TWO CONCERTS AT ELLIS AUDITORIUM FOR THE FIRST TIME, IN THE NORTH HALL, AS PART OF BOB NEAL'S FIVE STAR JAMBOREE. That was the first time Jerry Schilling saw Elvis performing live, on his 13th birthday. Jerry said he bought tickets for both Elvis concerts there in that day, as a birthday treat.

The Jack White Connection

In January 2015, Elvis’ very first recording, an unassuming simple acetate dating back to 1953, was sold at an auction to an undisclosed buyer for $300,000. It featured two sentimental ballads sung by Elvis, then a shy 18-year-old kid with a ducktail haircut: on the A-side was “My Happiness”, a tune from the 1940s that would be later made famous by Connie Francis, and on the flip side “That’s When Your Heartaches Begin”, which Elvis would later re-record and release as a B-side to “All Shook Up”. Back in 1953, Elvis had paid $3.98 for this service offered by Sam Phillips at Memphis Recording Service, either to hear how he sounded on record, or as a present for his mum, as he would later claim in interviews. Some would go so far as to say that he hoped Sam would hear his voice and sign him up at Sun Studios. Whatever the reason, Elvis took the record to his high-school friend Ed Leek, who, in his recollection, had given him the money ($3.98 amount to about $45 adjusted for inflation) and owned a record player. Elvis played the songs there, and then for some reason left the record at his house. It’s funny how in later years some articles would claim that Gladys played the record over and over, while Elvis admitted in the Million Dollar Quartet recordings that he had lost it. In 1988 Ed Leek let RCA transfer the songs to digital to be released, but he kept the original acetate until his death in 2010.

In March 2015, a couple of months after the record was sold at an auction by Leek’s niece, it was disclosed that the buyer was a fellow rock ‘n roll musican, Jack White. The Detroit native planned to reissue the precious artifact on vinyl in a limited edition for Record Store Day. For this, he faithfully recreated the 10-inch, 78-rpm record in every detail, including the yellowish aging paper of the plain sleeve and the typewritten labels. Alan Stoker, the son of Gordon Stoker from the Jordanaires, the background singers in many of Elvis’ hits, did the transfer at the Country Music Hall of Fame. He ensured that the sound would be as clean as possible while maintaining the old haunting feeling of what many consider to be the Holy Grail of rock ‘n roll.

From this, you may have gathered that Jack White, who has won 13 Grammies in his career and is credited for writing the most distinctive guitar riff of the early 2000s with “Seven Nation Army”, is an Elvis fan. Not only did he embark in the project of bringing Elvis’ first record to the public with a precise replica, but he also played Elvis in a cameo for the comedy “Walk Hard: the Dewey Cox Story” (2007), which is a parody of music biopics. In the now iconic scene, Dewey, played by John C. Reilly, is terrified because he has to go on stage after Elvis, who’s hungry and wants to get out of there early. When Elvis approaches Dewey Cox, he speaks in an unintelligible Southern drawl, and anachronistically attempts a karate chop in the 1950s, before he even started to study it! This is a spoof of music biopics, after all, where these “artistic liberties” are plentiful (Baz Luhrmann’s movie has Elvis sing “Trouble” at Russwood Park, for instance). Then Jack White’s Elvis hilariously explains karate: “It’s called karate, man. Only two kinds of people know it, The Chinese and The King.” This unflattering and stereotyped portrayal of Elvis purposefully misses everything about Elvis’ personality, especially his humility and his Southern accent, focusing on some unimportant stereotypes instead: the sweating, the love of junk food, and the mumbling.

But, aside from playing him in a now famous gag, Jack White payed homage to Elvis as a musician as well. His 2014 Grammy-winning single “Lazaretto” features a cover of “Power of My Love” on the B side. The single holds the record of being the world’s fastest released record. It was recorded live in Nashville in front of an audience, pressed and released in under 4 hours. The B-side is according to The Tennessean “a thunderous version of Elvis Presley's ‘Power of My Love,’ — a faithful rendition, aside from cranking up the tempo and piling on the guitar overdrive.” In 2022, as we know, he had the honor of recording a duet of the same song alongside Elvis’ voice. The song is featured in the soundtrack of Baz Luhrmann’s movie.

And finally, Jack speaks about his love for Elvis Presley in a 2018 episode of the podcast “Revisionist History” by Malcolm Gladwell. In an episode called “Analysis, Parapraxis, Elvis”, the author tries to understand why Elvis never seemed to get a particular part of “Are You Lonesome Tonight?” quite right. Jack, accompanied by his guitar, sings the song in full, including the slightly corny spoken bridge where the singer feels vulnerable, deceived and rejected, which is the emotional part that Elvis couldn’t face to sing. He says there are a lot of minor chords in the song that can get you in that melancholy vibe. The singer is lonesome and he doesn’t really care if his ex lover is lonesome: “it’s a McGuffin to pretend he’s worried about her”, Jack explains.

I’m sure there will be more occasions to hear Jack White paying homage to his idol in the future. After all, he has an Elvis shrine at home, as Gladwell reveals!
