Hey I just had a question for ya. Like, we both know Homelander ain’t watching tv unless he’s in it because 1) Doesn’t have the time and 2) He’s egotistical. But let’s just say on the off chance that he does watch tv or more specifically, YouTube… what kinda videos do you think he’d watch.
I have this vivid image in my mind that he’d love watching those hoof trimming videos (and not just because I like watching them). I feel like it’s such a farmer/rancher/cowboy vibe and those professions are very rooted in American culture. So I feel like he’d have a need to see what exactly those “redneck hicks” who like him actually do for a living since that’s his whole persona and then he gets really invested in watching these cows and horses get their hoofs treated.
(I also think it would be funny as fuck if he listened to Your Caring Girlfriend Brings Home Dinner (ASMR) /tw: kissing noises/ but that’s more of a meme answer for me.)
So what do you think I’d love to hear your thoughts?
this is SUCH a good question and i have been noodling hard on it since you asked.
i think you're on to something with the hoof videos on an even deeper level: i can see him having a really intrinsic fascination with the act of cutting out something rotten in order to purify and heal. to make it perfect.
for this same reason i think he'd also be weirdly into like. pool cleaning videos. they just scratch a very deep itch, you know??
unironically i think homelander could get really into immersive roleplay asmr LOL especially if he developed a parasocial attachment to a specific performer

the suggested station for stuff “like” Everlast is bugfuck shitterton nuts. I was sitting on the porch drinking lemonade and smoking at two am thinking about how ridiculous it was I was still wearing my suit, when I was thinking it was too quiet and rainy so I put on What It’s Like, which always struck a chord of strange unidentifiable feeling with me as well as the innate wrathful melancholy of the song itself. it got me thinking about how all the things fall apart because I don’t text back or how I’ve become less and less and less extroverted and how it’s all just entered this unsatisfying loop and great another one. out of the existential frying pan into the fuckbrain fire. the more I talk to people the less I want to. I shut down pretty much all my push notifications so I’m not yelling at my phone to be quiet when someone sends me ten memes in a row. but it’s mostly alt-country or nineties songs from the same Everlast time period so you get like, southern hick shit and then Cake and Moby. it’s very unexpected. those don’t fucking sound like Everlast at all. next is Creedence, which I don’t even fucking know what. then Fleetwood Mac and Tarantula & Tito, which is even more of a don’t even fucking know what. it’s hard to identify that feeling. people just don’t do charged acoustic irish muslim rap anymore, I guess. we’re missing out. I’m missing out. it’s all some big fucking cheat or another. it’s harder to focus. it’s harder to sleep. it’s more boring to watch video games and play movies and eat sandwiches to the point I barely recognize myself. and sure, Eat At Whitey is more coastal hip-hop influenced, so once that enters the algorithm, you’re just fucked. Dogg Pound. Fun Lovin Criminals. Beastie Boys. but also Kottonmouth Kings? how fucking stoned do you think I am? I am searching for Everlast at two am, so I do appreciate you at least feeling around in the dark. that’s the best we can all do something. I keep putting on and losing a lot of weight, which is probably super healthy. I turned forty and didn’t do shit. Sweatshop Union?? okay you’re not going to impress me pulling crate like this. I know exactly how deep you go, Spotify algorithm. I can get three curated playlist deep into a cousin of a cousin of a recommendation to find the Nth continuum of some funk bit in some random song from 1971. I recognize you as a tool, partly because I’m fucking terrified of watching how much the algorithm dictates human behavior. we wrote ourselves a new civilization to staple messily over our old one. that’s cool. that isn’t unnerving as shit. leave me the fuck alone. like that Deki Alem song. man, if I heard Deki Alem on Everlast radio I would have ten different kinds of aneurysms. I barely care about suits anymore. I don’t take ten pictures of myself when I’m bored. I’m barely there. Johnny fucking Frierson? no, Everlast radio. I haven’t been being good to myself. all I had to eat today was popcorn. I watched seven Stargate episodes instead of sleeping and I don’t even like Stargate. sometimes I put on lame war is hell movies and then I do sleep. all that sorrow and blood just seems so tiring. dunno, though. What It’s Like. kinda corny, listening to it as an old man. Death Comes Callin is way more my speed. that or the old angel of death guy karaoke in Only God Forgives. that song is Leum Mai Long by Suraphol Sombatcharoen. also known as the Thai Elvis. I know so much stupid shit about stupid shit and it gets me nowhere. that’s the dice roll, right? either you’re full or you’re forward. it’s pronounced Sohm-batch-are-rohn or something, it’s easy. my favorite song of his is Suai Ching Nong — Truly Beautiful Girl — because it just sounds so full. doesn’t sound fucking shit like Everlast, though. that’s the root of the problem, really. that and the burnout.

What is a normie?
Is the worst nostalgia the nostalgia you have for a time you weren't even alive to remember? I don't think I'm alone in my generation for feeling envious of people who got to experience the last decade of individualism right before me, in the nineties.
I go back and forth on it. Reading Chuck Klosterman on the nineties, how we we could enjoy technology without being enslaved to it, american consumerism seemed so harmlessly fun like early youtube before ads, it's hard not to see the time as adam & eve in the garden of eden before eve met the serpent, through a contemporary lens. Then I get cynical about it, how I'd still find things and people to hate like Bill Hicks did. Or how deceiving age can be, that the younger years are remembered better than the older, present years. I think we just romanticize the past to repress the knowing that we'll always have something good we took for granted only in retrospect.
In retrospect that has to be the individualism. And the most pointed approach to compare 90s individualism to today is to start by defining what a normie is. In 2024, a normie is someone who scrolls through executions in third world countries when work is slow. Someone who knows podcasters better than their own family members. Someone who is afraid to take the airpods out. It is someone who has seen more sex than the amount of sex their grandparents ever had. People or animals. By the age of 16. Again I don't want to romanticize a time I wasn't around for or be too cynical of the present but goddammit I know people had an imagination beyond fucking spongebob memes and office references. It's not just that a 90s normie is less depressed than today's normies, better question what is an individual today? If you are an individual today, you do not have a niche hobby like coin collecting or you play the didgeridoo. If you are an individual today you must have an in depth knowledge of government sponsored satanic pedophile cults, transhumanism, the singularity, CIA psy-ops & coups, the federal reserve, proxy wars, mRNA vaccines, mind control, special prosecutors, ballistics, and if just the awareness alone doesn't make you jaded enough, the ostracization by friends, family, would-be-friends, and would-be-family will leave you standing on a sidewalk on a cinematic fall day, kids launching off swings into raked piles of leaves, mothers pushing strollers wondering if maybe it's YOU.
Yes the normies in the 90s were a little too naïve but they were unique at heart. We weren't supposed to stay that way forever, but this hip kind of narcisstic nihilism should not be the successor to that naïve but aspiring individualism in the nineties. The human's evolution of consciousness starts out as gullible, recklessly curious as a child, then undergoes a melancholic metamorphosis throughout adolescene before a level-headed, purpose-driven adult can emerge. I think the last pre-internet era, the 60s through the 90s was the childhood of the current collective conscious. Enjoying and benefiting from acid, rock n roll, consumerism with some class and imagination - a very apelike enlightenment before the childlike wonder wears off, naturally, but saturated through conformity pressures stifiling pure creativity, conditioning to the 9-5 starts in kindergarten. Then the information-age up until covid was the edgy adolescene. Having the what-you-were-taught innocence questioned in a forum then unrecognizably changed emerging from a rabbit hole. 9/11, pearl harbor, JFK, like finding out santa claus isn't real, drawing swastikas over the teacher's marks on your space race report.
People should have graduated by the end of covid. This is still the information age, but it's now post-covid and pre-singularity. Time to grow up and stop being so naïve or sardonic.

@pcrtrait sent: 4C + wes & chad from THIS meme.
Tumblr media
Sneaking around was a pretty easy task for Chad and Wes. No one really suspected much when they heard about the two doing anything alone. They’d been friends for years, it was only natural they’d spend some sort of quality time together. It definitely made things a little easier on them while they (they mostly being Chad) thought about what this really was between them. It was far beyond a string of hookups, past the stages of being considered a fling, but the jock was a bit too scared to bring the ‘relationship’ word into consideration. There was a lot to think over, a lot that would change for them both if they were to come out with this.
He knew Wes was sick of hearing about his internal dilemma, but Chad did appreciate the patience he held for him. Not a lot of people would stick around for someone so indecisive, no matter what shared trauma they had, but Wes’ interest never seemed to falter much. And so he wanted to do something nice for him, take him out somewhere special. It was a bit of a drive, but he made sure the restaurant was more than worth it. Some would argue it was easier to act like a couple in front of strangers than their closest friends, and Chad wouldn’t disagree, but it was a start. Maybe a small start, but still a promise of what he was working towards.
Wes seemed more than grateful for the gesture, or possibly just happy to snuggle up to other somewhere outside of the bedroom. Or possibly even both. Whatever combination it is, the blond was extremely quick in showing off his appreciation. So quick that they barely made it back to the car with their outfits still in tact- but thankfully the car was just close enough. Their floor of the parking garage was empty, aside from two cars that were collecting dust, which made it all too tempting to take things any further right then and there. And that’s exactly what they did.
The car door was wide open, perfectly hiding any possibly bystanders to get a full view of Wes sprawled out across the backseat. They may see the pair of legs resting over Chad’s arms, possibly even assume the worst from the near-animalistic noises that escaped the vehicle, but he didm’t anticipate anyone coming near that level aside from a few vehicles that didn’t even pass their way. And so he continued to fuck into his boyfriend(?) without a care in the world.
With his body hunched over, big brown eyes staring into the other pair with a fire that only burned for him as he drove his cock into the still-tight crevice provided. Grunts and groans continued to slip from his lips, though there was an attempt to keep them muffled and lowered. His hands gripped tightly around his thighs, roughly massaging the soft skin there as he tried to angle the tip of his dick to hit just the right spot inside the other.

6, 8, n 14 for the behind the scenes asks!
Taken from this fanfiction writers ask meme- thank you so much, friend!
6. If you’re really concentrating, how many words can you write in a day?
If I have absolutely no distractions, if the weather is awful and my labrador senses aren't telling me to GO OUTSIDE AND GO FOR A WALK or I need to get groceries or something, then probably 2k? Probably.
8. Do you listen to music while you write? If so, share a song that’s been inspiring you lately.
All the time! A song that's been inspiring lately is Emilia Jones' cover of Both Sides Now which now that you know that, will make all of the Constance Morse Lives AU make a lot more sense!
14. If you were stuck on a desert island with only two characters, which would you pick?
Dorothea Frazil and Monica Hicks, probably. They'd know that staying put would be better than trying to escape and I'd like to think that we could have a laugh.
Much love,
Phoenixflames12 xxx

BEHIND THE MUSE MEME THING
Nobody tagged me, I just saw one and wanted to do it.
Name: Sarah (pronouns are WHATEVER YOU FEEL LIKE CALLING ME, I’m just a freaky sickass little gremlin)
Age: OLD AS FUCK (I was born in the early 1990s)
How old were you when you first started RP-ing: Jeez… eighteen? Nineteen?
Height: Idk like 5’6ish?
OC’s or Canons: OC’s for the most part.
Prefer to play females or males: I’ve mostly played women or vaguely femme genderweird creatures, but I’m not opposed to playing male characters or anything.
Favorite faceclaim to play: I do not choose my RP characters by faceclaim???
Least favorite faceclaim to play: See above
Worst RP experience ever: Okay so one time back when I was first starting out, there was some kid who got VERY attached to me and my character and basically kinda lost it whenever I wrote with anyone else. Early tumblr RP was wild. Like my dude my guy we are strangers on the internet playing make believe, please chill.
Fluff, angst, or smut: ALL
Most overused FC: Idk???
First character you ever made: A terrible Harry Potter OC.
Worst character you ever made: Worst as in “the most poorly written”? See above. Worst as in “this character is an absolute garbage heap of a person”? Gilles.
Favorite type of plot: iunno, whatever type sounds fun and exciting for me and my RP partner. Depends on a lot. I DO like something with romance, though; I’m shipper trash.
At what time of day is your writing the best?: Probably the morning. I’m a morning person. I like to write while I have my coffee.
Are you anything like your muse?: There are bits and pieces of me in all my characters (except Gilles- fuck that guy). Addie is a baker because I like baking. Alex is a hick because I grew up COUNTRY. Sitri is my fun “gender is dumb I wish I didn’t exist in a stupid flesh prison” outlet. Also I, too, am a Dom vers pervert OOP.
Worst thing about RP (in general or on Tumblr): Trying to match length!!! Sometimes I can write for miles, sometimes I barely manage two sentences. Y’all write such glorious hefty prose, and I struggle to keep up sometimes. (I mostly write poetry aside from this, so blame it on that. Sidenote, who wanna read my weird poems???)
To end on a good note — best thing about RP?: Shamelessly basking in nerdery and making friends with other weirdos!!!
Tagging: ANY OF YOU. ALL OF YOU.
