Heiji winced but was unable to look away due to his shock. He had said his arm since he hadn’t really believed Hakuba to be a real vampire and thought getting bit on the arm would hurt less. “So ya…ya really meant it.”

Hakuba didnt answer, drinking the blood feeling it rush through him and giving him a small amount of strength back. He forced himself to stop after a bit though pulling his fangs out with a sigh and licking the bit of blood that had trailed down the side of Heijis arm “thank you,”

Eyes widened in surprise and her cheeks turned a soft pink when she heard the little confession. That.. was a confession, right? No.. the heat must have gotten to him when he tried to protect her from the flames. 

“Heiji..” she whispered and held his hand. “You could have died.”

The Osakan detective winced. He had sadly gotten mortally shot by a culprit that had tried hurting a small pink haired girl only for Heiji to get in the way. He didn’t know who this beautiful dancer was but he was sure that she had to be some sort of angel. Did that mean he was dying?

The thought scared him, though he tried not to let it show. For some reason, he was just overcome with a deep sense of hopelessness. It felt very uncharacteristic to him but he just couldn’t shake it off. “Thank ya Miss Angel or whoever ya are. But I think this is the end fer me.”

“NO!! Nonononononono--”

Tutu’s feathered hands fluttered frantically over his bloodied torso, red blood dampening her white plumage in a startling contrast. 

“No, you’re- you’re not going to die. You’re not...”

This was more reassurance to herself than a statement of fact. Propping her would-be savior up against her lap, half-cradling him in her wings, she pushed his hair away from his forehead, trying her best to stop herself from shaking.

“Why- why- why would you do that?! You didn’t need to, I.. I.. oh, no...”

     It had been an awfully long and hard case to work through, Sasuke was only called in from the Uchiha police force into this section when things got tough. He had been working with a young detective when things seemed to get out of control. But thankfully everything wrapped up quite nicely.

     The Officer let out quite the exaggerated sigh. “...Do you want to go grab a drink..?”

     It didn’t have to be alcoholic, he just needed something cold to calm his nerves.

The darkness surrounding her sensed him as soon as he'd sat down, eyes snapping open as she studied him through his own shadow.

He seemed a little roughed up, another fresh scratch on his arm and his well formed chest having a slight purple bruise. He was tired as well, his eyes closed as he lay on his couch.

The Osakan superhero was such an easy target right now.

Her lips curled as she approached him, floating up through the darkness like a shark stalking its prey. Soon he'd be unable to escape from her grasp, part of her looking forward to his response.

She rose from his couch's shadow, smirk widening as she studied his hair, which had a slight orange tinge to it. She'd almost stroked it before shaking her head and focusing on her task.

Eyes now focused on his neck she pounced before he could react, smirk still firmly set on her face as she wrapped her arms around him.

"Welcome home, how was your day?" She already knew, of course, but she liked hearing things from his perspective anyway.

Tiger Eye, Japan’s best superhero, took a deep breath. He had just finished fighting a powerful villain and his costume would have to be mended in a couple places. He collapsed on the couch with a sigh.

Hakuba slowly opened his eyes before closing them tight. Everything was too bright! Last he remembered they were in a dim lab, him and Hattori chasing down a murderous scientist who was fleeing when he was revealed to have killed his assistant. The man had fought, throwing items at the pair who desperately tried to avoid the scientific equipment. At some point though Hakuba had blacked out and now he seemed to be in a hospital. Had he been hit? But he felt so ill.

Heiji sighed as he was dragged into the annual police party by his father. He honestly didn’t see the point to all of this but he was forced to come since his fathet wanted him to be familiar with the other police chiefs of Japan. Still, he felt like he stood out in his school uniform (the most formal putfit he owned) and his dark skin.

Hakuba tried to look polite as he was introduced to yet another of his fathers friend with his father energetically rattling off some of his achievements. He had been aware all day that his timer was getting rather low and was more focused on tracking the seconds in his mind as his father shepherded him around. He was in his suit so there was no chance of him checking the timer to make sure it was right. But he was still curious if nothing else. Just because some numbers stopped didn't mean he had to be with someone in that way. Platonic soul mates were not unknown after all right?

Heiji looked around for anything he could use as a spear, quickly finding a long and straight enough stick that could work. He spent the next hour sharpening it on a rock. How cavemen were about to do this was beyond him as it felt like it was taking way too long.

“Yer kiddin’ right?” Heiji said, already puffing his chest out proudly. “I’d probably be great at it!”

‘Probably’? hakuba refrained his comment as he looked at the canopy above. “In that case you want to look around for a pole to use as one?? You should be able to sharpen it against a rock. I’ll look for something to use as covering in case it rains.”

After several weeks of living on the island Hakuba and Heiji had Heijis old parents home repaired and liveable. They had added in shutters on the window for the cold nights and an opening on the roof the pair could sit on and look over the jungle. Some nights they spent the night sleeping with Heijis gorilla family when they nested close by or they slept in their home together. The pair were in their home this morning as Hakuba began to wake yawning hearing some birds outside before just snuggling closer to Heiji.

Hakuba winced in his small cupboard of a space that he had been shoved into. How careless of him to be spotted during a feed, and how unlucky for it to be by a man who knew how to trap a vampire. He had fallen unconcious only to wake in this tiny space with a door that burned when he touched it. But now it was open, and he looked up at the door still sat on the floor weakened from hunger and his skin deathly pale. How long had it been? His eyes couldn’t even focus enough to see if it was a saviour or his captor before him.

Heiji frowned at the paled man inside. “Let’s getcha’ outta here,” he said as he helped him up. He was honestly surprosed that a man had been legitimately convinced that Hakuba was a vampire. Such things didn’t really exist. He would’ve known by now, right?

Hakuba almost instantly fell as Heiji tried to help him up. Though there were no signs of starvation he was obviously weakened as he spoke in a dry voice “h-hattori isn’t it?”

The Osakan nodded. “Yeah. Hakuba, right?” He picked up Hakuba now that he saw how weak he was. “What did that guy do ta ya?”

Hakuba winced as he was picked up, his world spinning slightly. He normally could go a week without feeding but being interrupted mid fed after using so much energy had drained him. “I-Is anyone else nearby?” He asked ignoring Heijis question

“Yeah. Why?” Heiji asked in confusio .

Hakuba let out a curse, he couldn’t risk going bloodstarved in front of people, he’d be hopelessly compromised “gonna ask something odd, go where no one can see us”

Heiji nodded and took Heiji to a seperate to room that the police had already cleared. He closed the door behind them. “What is it ya wanted ta ask me?”

Now this was easily the biggest risk he had taken in his life, and that counted all 103 years of it “I need to drink your blood. Just enough to keep me rational”

Heiji’s eyes widened. “I didn’t think ya could even make jokes,” he said. Did the man somehow brainwash him into thinking he was a vampire?

“If I don’t drink, I go into starvation” hakuba said flatly “Normally I’d entrance someone, but in weak from being starved. I need to have fresh blood hattori”

Heiji frowned. There was no way he was believing this! But the look in Hakuba’s eyes were serious and the detective let out a sigh. “Ya can try if it’d make ya feel better…but only from my arm.”

Thank God Heiji had agreed, though drinking from an arm wouldn’t be near as satisfying it would be enough for him to be able to move. He lifted his head turning to look at Heijis arm quickly seeing the richest point to bite and his teeth elongated into fangs that reached past his lips. He then went to Heijis arm and bit into him drinking the blood that seeped out.
