Summary:

Dean Winchester's life is no fairy tale. Forced to give up his dream of a degree in political science to work in the family business, he's relegated to janitorial duties at a Pirate Pete's burger joint by his absent father's business partner Azazel and his two unbearable sons. But a newly elected president in nationwide search of a political advisor and a mysterious stranger who stumbles into Pirate Pete's late one evening have Dean exploring new possibilities for both his professional and personal future.

Cas Milton is the newest and most reluctant US President - feeling shackled by his responsibilities, he sends out a nationwide call for an advisor to help ease his professional burdens. His hunger for escape - and burgers - leads Cas to a Pirate Pete's in Lawrenceville, Kansas, where he meets an enigmatic janitor who's unaware of his real identity. Upon hearing Dean's aspirations for his future, Cas encourages him to chase his dreams. He returns to his office to find those dreams include an application to the very role he's looking to fill, making a relationship between them impossible.

I have this sorta odd destiel fanfiction in my head that I have actually had dreams about and it involves a bit of memory erasure, time travel, incarnations, and Amara/the Darkness...

Remember when Amara kissed Dean and they both saw some sort of "vision" about their future and how they will always be "bonded"? And in 11x1 Amara said "we will always help each other, no matter where I am, no matter WHO I am, we will always be bound."

What IF. Amara IS Cas? And she doesn't know this at first of course. Like. Idk, I just have this fic idea stuck in my mind where the reason why that particular version of Castiel in that universe, unlike every other version of Cas in other universes, is the "famous spanner in the works" who constantly rebels and has to have their memory erased, the reason why Cas is so bonded to Dean and would do anything for him, is because originally that Cas was the Darkness. When Jack and Amara became balanced, they became aware of the reality of the multiverse and Amara knew she needed to give up her power to Jack and become something else and go back in time to the beginning in order to "fix" the storyline so that Chuck inevitably loses and to make sure Jack is born and Dean and Sam can truly be free. So she gives up her darkness powers to Jack and Jack and her go back in time to the beginning, secretly planting her as Castiel, a being of light now, an angel with no memory of being God's sister. And so THAT Cas always has a rebellious streak in them, defying the "natural order". And throughout all of history, that Cas rebels against unjust orders. When that Cas meets Dean, he can't help but feel completely connected to him profoundly. And no matter how many times his memory is wiped and controlled by Naomi, the bond between them cannot be broken. Then when Cas is brought back from the Empty by Jack, he is given his memory back of being Amara/the Darkness. And this is why Dean and Cas are so profoundly bonded. No matter who Cas is, no matter what body/vessel they're in, they will always love Dean.

The empty won't give up on dragging Cas back though because after all, he made a deal, and as an angel, Cas will always end up in the Empty, and even as the darkness, technically the empty was there first before the Darkness so it's technically stronger. The empty just hates Cas. It will still be summoned every time he experiences true happiness. And will go after Cas and his loved ones at any cost. So in order to protect heaven and his loved ones, including Dean, Jack and Cas decide that Cas's best and only option is to convert his grace into a human soul and be reborn as a human in a different, magic-less universe, where the Empty cannot find him and even if it does find him, it's power would be inert in a seemingly magic-less world. (there's magic, it's just unseen and the laws of physics implemented there make it harder for monsters to exist there with any noticeable power.) But Cas saves a little bit of his grace, bottling it in a little vial pendant, and tells Jack to give it to Dean to remember him by. When Dean gets to heaven, Jack tells him the truth and gives Dean the vial of grace that Dean wears as a necklace. And Dean is free now, traveling the multiverse in his TARDIS car (which Amara secretly created at some point so Dean would always have his freedom). So Dean is completely free now, of any and all Gods destinies for him and his family. He can make his own choices whether that be peacefully chilling in heaven with his family, or traveling the multiverse, stopping sometimes to work a case in some world or universe, saving people, or enacting change in worlds still being wronged by evil Gods "destiny". Maybe he even meets the Doctor at some point lol. And He'll know when he's found a version of his Cas because the vial of Cas's grace will glow a vibrant purple when Cas is close by.

Summary: Castiel Novak never meant to fall in love with his commanding officer, Dean Winchester nor did he mean to make a promise to take care of Dean's wife and children back home if anything happened to him. Then something did end up happening to Dean and after weeks of fighting the nagging guilt, Cas goes to Lawrence and meets his family and seeing how heartbroken Dean's wife is, he fulfills his promise to take care of her and their children. Then Dean shows up after they are settled into a new life turning everything on its head.

Dean and Ellie Winchester's house. 

The only thing that could be heard from the drive way of the small house that Dean and Ellie Winchester lived was shouts and the sound of breaking glass, which was highly unusual, normally the young couple kept themselves and they only said hello on their way out of the house in the morning when the husband went out to his car to go to the garage that his father owned, and then the wife went to the elementary school where she taught kindergarten in the mornings and then she went to the garage in the afternoons to help out. 

 Several of the neighbors peeked their heads out of the window to see if they could hear what was going on and what was causing the fight.

But a car carrying Dean's parents pulled in and the mother rushed up the walkway and into the house like she knew what bad news that her son broke to his wife, John, the father was taking his time walking up the driveway to stop any sort of gossip from starting.  

He was walking slowly up the walkway, he didn't want to be the one to pull his son out of the line of fire. He had told him several times over that he shouldn't get married right after Ellie graduated college with her teaching degree. 

Especially with the chances of going to war, Europe was being ripped totally apart and the building tensions with the Japanese.He didn't want to become responsible for Ellie, his three kids were enough.

"Your son joined the Marines without telling me when there is a goddamn war going on and he could be shipped out." Ellie's raised voice came the house, "We could lose him." 

The terror in her voice wasn't hard to miss, she had lost her parents at young age and her father's younger sister Ellen moved into the house with her husband and daughter who was the same as their daughter Savannah to raise her.

 But the girl had some separation issues, always going into a near tizzy when someone she loved was leaving her for long periods of time and Dean joining the Marines meant that he was leaving her for a extended period of time. 

"You don't know that Ellen." John said as he stepped into the house and shut the door behind him to stop the nosey neighbors from trying to peer in, his wife was already standing next to Ellie holding her tightly so she wouldn't grab another dish to throw at Dean, who had a red welt growing on his cheek from where she had slapped him. 

"How can you be so sure John? Look at what happened with the first world war and how much our families lost." 

He and Tony, Ellie's father had both been in the Marines and were getting ready to ship out when the war ended but they ended up losing family members and family friends and Tony lost his father and it was the one thing that both Scott siblings made sure their kids knew. She had her father's dog tags hanging around her neck along with the cross that her mother wore daily.

A constant reminder. 

A reminder that John didn't need to see every day when she came into the garage to help out. 

"I know you are upset sweetheart." His son started still holding his hands up chest high, to show he understood his wife's feelings. "But this is what is best for our family." 

 Ellie wanted to snap at him, saying he didn't know what was best for their family and that they should have made that decision together, but the fight drained out of her and she let Mary lead her to the kitchen table and to one of the chairs that wasn't overturned.

"I talked to your Aunt." Dean started once he realized that she had settled down, "Jo is going to come stay with you while I am gone so you aren't alone." 

Jo was Ellie's only cousin and her best friend, the two girls did almost everything together and knowing that Jo was there with his wife was going to bring him some sort of peace of mind.

Him telling Ellie, this was for the best of their family that they wanted to start was the truth, the garage wasn't making as much as it should and he wanted to be able to have her stop teaching once she was pregnant  to be at home with their children like their mothers had been with them.

"I really wish that you would have told me this before.' She finally started after Mary pressed a steaming coffee mug into her hands and her husband finally went around the table and sat next to her. "So you wouldn't possibly be missing out on the first months of your child's life." 

Everything stood still for a split second, 'Are you sure?" Dean asked as he reached twitching fingers out to brush the bangs that fell into her eyes away.

"Positive." She returned, "6 months give or take."

He didn't know if he should laugh, cry or throw up or all at the same time. They had talked about having a family in the near future but they never planned anything out, that is all it was, conversations. 

And normally Ellie liked to have a set plan before they did anything and this wasn't apart of the plan. But look at the hopefulness in her eyes, he shook off all feelings and pulled her into his arms hugging her tightly and dropping several kisses to her cheeks and her mouth. He wanted to say something, anything at all but he couldn't bring himself too.  

Nothing he could say or do anything to take the sudden pit he had in his stomach or elevate the fear that she had, but all he do at point was try.

I read a fic once where Dean and Cas fuck after Dean finally goes to heaven and like…yeah it was hot or whatever who cares but…..it started with Dean driving around Heaven in his Impala and then Cas suddenly appearing in the driver’s seat shouting, “TETANUS?!?!?! REALLY?!?!!! AFTER EVERY THING, YOU LET IT BE A RUSTY FUCKING POLE?!?!?!”

And like, pop off, hotwings. You’re so right. That ending was dumb as hell.

Fan fiction has ruined me. I'm rewatching Supernatural with my husband, who's watching it for the first time. Someone said something to Dean early in season 2 about having a hole that needed to be filled. I just started howling. Literally rolling on the floor in agony over how much I was laughing. My husband just looked at me confused. He has no idea what he's in for.

writing is crazy because you can sit there for hours, going through the entire human spectrum of emotion, all five stages of grief and then some, and literally nothing happened. it's all in your head. you made it up.
