Judy Garland (Meet Me In St. Louis, A Star is Born, Summer Stock)— Judy is the GOAT when it comes to classic movie musicals. The voice of an angel who deserved so much better than she got. She can sing she can dance she can act she's a triple threat. Though she had a turbulent personal life (her treatment as a child star by the studio system makes me mad as hell like Louis b Mayer fight me ((she was made to believe that she was physically unattractive by the constant criticism of film executives who made her feel ugly and who manipulated her onscreen appearance by capping her teeth and using discs in her nose to change its shape and Mayer called her "my little hunchback" like imagine hearing that as a child and not having damage)) she always goddamn delivered on screen and in any performance she gave. She began in vaudeville performing with her sisters and was signed to MGM at 13. Starting out in supporting parts especially paired with mickey Rooney in a bunch of films (she's the best part tbh) she eventually transferred to the lead role. She is best known for her starring role in movie musicals like the iconic Wizard of Oz (somewhere over the rainbow still hits hard and is ranked the top film song of all time), meet me in St. Louis (Judy singing have your self a merry little Christmas brings tears to the eyes she is that powerful), the Harvey girls (she looks like a technicolor dream and sings a catchy af song about trains), Easter parade ( dancing and singing with Fred Astaire), for me and my gal, the pirate, and summer stock ( with pal Gene Kelly who she helped when he was starting out and he helped her when she was struggling). But she also does non- singing just as well like the clock ( her first movie where she sings no songs and is an underrated ww2 era romance), her Oscar nominated a star is born ( like the man that got away she put her whole soul in that and I have beef with the fact she lost to grace kelly ((whom I love but like still not even her best work)), and judgement at Nuremberg (a courtroom drama about the nazi war criminal trials). Outside of film she made concert appearances to record-breaking audiences, released 8 studio albums, and had her own Emmy-nominated tv series. She was the youngest (39) and first female recipient of the Cecil B DeMille award for lifetime achievement in the film industry. Girl was a lifelong democrat and was a financial and moral supporter of many causes including the civil rights movement (she was at the March on Washington and held a press conference to protest the 16th street Baptist church bombings). She was a friend of the Kennedy family and would call jfk weekly often ending the calls by singing the first few lines of somewhere over the rainbow (she thought of them as Gemini twins). She was a member of the committee for the first amendment which was formed in response to the HUAC investigations. Though she died far too young and tragically she remains an icon for her work and her life. As a girl who didn't feel like i was as pretty as everyone else I have always felt a connection to Judy and I just really love her.
Natalie Wood (West Side Story, The Great Race)—She went through so much shit which I know can be said for all these women but Natalie really was a star and her death often overshadows her career and life. She could make you cry, but she also had the capacity to be incredibly funny which I think is lost on people.
This is round 4 of the tournament. All other polls in this bracket can be found here. Please reblog with further support of your beloved hot sexy vintage woman.

Judy Garland:
Judy's voice alone qualifies her for at least top ten hottest HOT VINTAGE MOVIE WOMEN. She was a truly incredible swing singer, with a stunning voice on top of her technique. Her short dark hair looked incredible in just about any style. Have I mentioned her swagger? I can’t do it justice with words. She had swagger. She was funny as hell, and clever too. Incredibly charming and cool. I adore her.
Her eyes, her voice have bewitched me
I mean how can you beat the one and only Judy? She's beautiful, her smile is contagious, the way she sings with her whole body. You can't help but love her.

Call it what you want
Summary- You and Joe attend his Heisman ceremony. What you don’t know is that Joe has something up his sleeve for after the ceremony. Warnings: Fluff, References of sex
Being friends with Joe was a reward in itself, but seeing him achieve a goal of a lifetime is worth more than any award there is.
Getting ready in the hotel room in New York City was not on your bucket list for 2019 but hey I was not complaining. Joe was up for the heisman trophy and you could not be more proud of him. Knowing what he has endured up to this moment would make anyone have nothing but respect for him.
Joe and I have been friends since middle school. All I remember is a shy kid hesitant to find a seat somewhere. Calling him over to sit next to me was the best decision I have ever made. Although what I didn't know was I was going to be falling for him as the years went on. each day that went by I always noticed something new about him, like the way he gets all giggly when talking about things he loves, or when he gets tuned vision when he is really really focused on something.
Having these feelings for Joe meant that every little thing made me jealous. Like when girls fond over him or when girls literally come up to him and flirt with him. Before my thoughts took over me I got pulled out by Joe calling my name.
"Y/n!"-Joe
"yea what's up"- you say sitting down the makeup brush.
"Which tie should I pick?"- Joe says holding up two purple ties that look almost identical
"Go with the one without the gold it kinda washes you out"- You say taking the tie from him to put it on him while he laughs at your remark.
"Can't even catch a break on my day huh?"- Joe says shaking his head laughing.
"Hey just because your winning an award doesn't change the fact that your still easy to make fun of."- You say while fixing him up so he looks put together.
"There you go. Nice and proper."- you walking back to finish your makeup
"Thanks and I haven't won anything yet, I'm just a nominee."-Joe says following you and sitting down on the bed next to the vanity watching you apply the finishing touches.
"Oh c'mon, Joe we all know you have this award in the bag. You have had heck of a season and most of all you deserve it more than anyone."- you say turning to him and grabbing his hands.
"Everyone believes in you Joe not just your family. You pretty much have the whole state of Louisiana supporting you tonight as you are their adopted son apparently."-you say as Joe looks up and laughs at the adoption joke.
"Thank you y/n. You always know how to bring my confidence back up."- Joe says looking at you with a little glimmer in his eyes.
"Oh! also can you help me zip up my dress?"-you ask standing up and turning around so my back faces him.
"Yea sure."-Joe says slowly zipping the dress up.
"There. And thank you for always being there, it means a lot."-Joe says while you turn around to look at him.
When turning around you had no idea how close you actually were to Joe, so close that your chest was literal centimeters away from his.
Looking into Joe's eyes gave you a wash of euphoria. Something hat only his can do, and he felt the same way about yours. Every stolen glance he takes at you when you aren't looking and every little gesture he does to show that he cares.
As you guys stared into each others eyes, it was cut short by Robin and Jimmy clearing their throats.
"Time to go guys!"- Robin says as she looks at us smirking.
"Yea okay."- we both say at the same time while they leave the room.
"Wait! Joe before we go gets take a picture."-You say opening the camera app and taking the picture,
"okay lets go y/n, this could turn into a whole photoshoot with you."-joe says laughing and guiding me to the door.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Walking into the ceremony felt unreal. Before it started we talked to a couple of joes coaches and other nominees.
A few minutes into small taking we were told the ceremony would be broadcasting in a ew minutes and we had to take our seats. before I went to my seat I decided to give Joe some more words of encouragement.
"Hey Joe just remember what I told you in the hotel room, you have all the support in the world right now, win or lose we're so so proud of you."-you say as he was staring u at you with admiration in his eyes.
"Thank you y/n."- He says with a tight lipped smile.
I could tell he was nervous. Joe only smiled like that when he was nervous or when he wanted out of a situation and didn't want to make it awkward.
As I'm walking back to my seat I couldn't help but over hear one of the nominees say that Joe had a good one. Before I could hear joes response people were starting to scramble to their seats for it to start.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
He did it. He won the Heisman for LSU.
As walks up to his family section he hugs each of us. When he gets to me he says something unexpected.
"I love you.."- Joe says as he hugs you and moves on to his dad.
He just told me he loves me. We have said this to each other before but something about this time felt different.
As Joe walks up to give his speech all I could do is tear up. This boy has been through so much and has been knocked down so many times and the is finally proving all those people wrong who ever doubted him in his life.
But one thing that I did not expect to see was Joe cry. I have only seen Joe cry a few times, so little that I could count on one hand. This had really meant a lot to him and you couldn't be any prouder of him.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
After the ceremony and the walk in Times Square, Joe and I decided to head back to our room to celebrate the win by watching movies and drinking some champagne.
The second the door closed I tackled Joe in a hug to the point where he fell back on the bed. Laughing he quickly turned us over on the be. As quickly as he turned us over he jumped off of me.
"Sorry I don't know what I was thinking doing that"- Joe said as he starts to take off his shoes.
"Its fine, You did nothing wrong."- you said
"Im gonna go take a shower right quick, okay?"- you said walking over to the bathroom.
"Okay I'm going to my parents room to do the same."
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Sitting in the bed with Joe you had laughs and mini tickle fights. But as the night went on you had not idea what was about to happen.
"Okay so now that this movie is over I would like to show you a very important video."-joe says grabbing his computer.
"It's not a sex tape is it?"- you say with semi seriousness.
"No no not even close!"-Joe says laughing at you.
"Oh okay."- you say getting comfortable to see what his is about to show you.
"okay, watch"- Joe says starting the video.
The video consisted of memories of me and Joe from when we first met to literally a few hours ago.
"Joe that was so sweet, but why?"-you say looking at him.
"Y/n, you have been in my life since I can remember. Not a single bad memory with you, if anything you make the bad memories seen not so bad. You have been there for me through the really highs but you have also been there for me when I've hit rock bottom. You make me a better person and I'm grateful to have you as a best friend. And I know this might sound weird but I really don't want to be friends with you anymore. I want to be more than friends. So, with that Will you be my girlfriend?"- Joe says as you have tears in your eyes.
Joe... You don't know how long I've been waiting for you to say that sentence to me."-I say hugging him like my like depended on it.
"So I'll take that as a yes?"- Joe says
"Yes Joe i'll be your girlfriend."- I say leaning in to kiss his lips.
Right as our lips are about to touch Joe pulls away leaving me confused.
"What's wrong?"- You ask looking at him.
"Nothing, but before I forget I have to give you something."- Joe says reaching into the nightstand.
"Here."- he hands me the box
"Joe you didn't have to get me anything."
"Just open the box baby"
I open the box and see a pendant necklace with a "J" on it.
"joey... Its beautiful."
"Just like you. I wanted you to have it even when we are not physically with each other. Look inside."
I look inside and see a photo of me and Joe on the day we met and and an empty side. "What's this side for?"- I say referring to the empty side.
"It's for you to fill, I want you to fill it with your favorite memory of us. I doesn't have to be right now. You don't even have to tell me. just do it when you're ready."- Joe says as I nod.
"Can you put it on me?"-You say turning round.
"Ofc."- He says putting the necklace on me.
"oh and Joe?"
"Yea?"
"I love you too."- I say smiling.
Little did Joe know you filled that empty spot years later with the photo of you him and your baby boy the day you gave birth.
The first pic of the new year!!! Also the start of the Taylor imagines. If you have any recommendations let me know. <3

none of my friends/family are transfomers fan so I'm gonna share my excitement with you guys:
PETER CULLEN WON THE LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD!!! AND Frank Welker presented it to him??? Megatron presenting that award to Optimus Prime feels so full circle, I love it. It's totally well deserved, I look up to Peter Cullen so much and seeing him recognized for everything he's done was just so cool to watch! I actually nearly cried during his speech. I hope he's able to keep voicing Optimus Prime for as long as he wants to.

As we had previously reported, Peter Cullen received Emmy’s Lifetime Achievement Award last night during the 2nd Annual Children’s and Family Emmys.
In a very emotive ceremony, Megatron’s voice Frank Welker presented the award and Mr. Cullen gave us a great and touching speech.
“And now, a time to thank my many Transformers fans and friends…with all my heart. We…are one.”
A totally well-deserved honor to the iconic voice of Optimus Prime as well as a tribute to all Mr.Cullen’s career.
--
"Transformers and Optimus Prime have become legendary. And Peter's iconic performance has made him not only part of the culture, but the undisputed and irreplaceable leader of the Autobots.
But it's not just his talent or that magnificent voice that we recognize. It's who he is. His honesty, his loyalty, his passion for his work, care for his friends, and his deep respect for the audience.
That's what's brought him here tonight."

Not her coming out with an album with a long ass title. She wants to be Lana so bad. SZA was robbed for AOTY, Kelly Clarkson was robbed for best pop VOCAL album (I mean, c'mon now).
Scammys are constantly snubbing Black creators in the major categories. Only 3 black women have won AOTY in the 66 years of the Grammys existence. Two of those albums were cover albums of mainly white acts ( Unforgettable...with Love by Natalie Cole and The Bodyguard Soundtrack by Whitney Houston). The last BW that won AOTY was Lauryn Hill's "The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill" which won 25 YEARS AGO.Even Mariah Carey hadn't won this category. What baffles me the most is the fact that the most awarded artist in the Grammys history hadn't won a single one AOTY and only has 1 (ONE!) award from the big 4 (Record of the year, Song of the Year, Album of the year and best new artist). She'd won it for Single Ladies. Out of all the hit songs she has, that was the only one that got awarded (imo one of her worst songs).
Renaissance got snubbed last year. And this year we see a tendency of streaming artists (Ariana's newest song comes to mind first) following the Renaissance's sound and house music's becoming trendy again. The Grammy voters even said 'We didn't vote for Beyonce on AOTY because she's won too many already'. Too many my ass. This woman's won only one Grammy outside of the genre category. And the genre categories they put black and brown people in are truly outrageous. No matter what they do, no matter how many new sounds and sub genres they invent, they will always be boxed into R&B and Urban categories. I mean, her country song from 'Lemonade' album 'Daddy Lessons' got snubbed in the country category and got rejected a nomination for being 'not country enough'. Bitch, please. From the first five seconds it's obvious to even non-country listener that it in fact, is a country song. And people that vote for this stuff are supposedly professional musicians and music experts. These same people box The Weeknd's music into R&B categories when he's clearly making pop music.
Jay-Z's speech was just a cherry on top for me. After Swift in her acceptance speech said that " I want to say 'thank you' to the members of the recording academy for voting this way but I know that the way that the recording academy voted is a direct reflection of the passion of the fans" while smugly polishing the Grammy, this man went on stage to get his lifetime achievement thingy and completely obliterated the same institution that Swift was ass kissing just a few minutes prior. He went on and said: " We want y'all to get it right. At least get it close to right. And obviously it's subjective because it's music and it's opinion based. [About his wife] She has more Grammys than everyone and never won AOTY so even by your own metrics that doesn't work. Think about that: the most Grammys, never won AOTY. That doesn't work. Some of you are going to go home tonight and feel like you've been robbed. Some of you may get robbed, some of you don't belong in the category. *everyone gags* No, no. When I get nervous... I tell the truth. But outside of that, we got to keep showing up. And forget the Grammys for a second, just in life, you gotta keep showing up until they give you all those accolades you feel you deserve, until they call you chairman, until they call you a genius, until they call you the greatest of all time". To me that sounds like "POC have to work twice as hard to get half as far". Not a big Jay fan but the speech was great. I'm sure he got his ass whooped on the way home for saying that.
Then the Grammys have proven him right by celebrating white mediocrity by giving Midnights AOTY. The outrageous thing is, only three Black women have won AOTY, she now has four. And many talented black people don't have a single one. The bodies of work that transcend genres, cultures and languages. The bodies of work that have much better musical components and lyrical content. The bodies of work that can stand the test of times and sound fresh and new even 10 years after their release. Artists that aren't afraid to step out of their comfort zone, experiment with genres (Whatever Swift calls 'experiments' don't go outside of the pop genre (Country-pop (Red), synth-pop (1989, Lover), electropop (rep, Lover), acoustic pop and alt-pop (Folkmore)). Beyonce, Kendrick Lamar, TLC, Missy Elliott, Usher, Kanye (his artistic side), Alicia Keys, Lil Wayne, Frank Ocean, and many more black music creators deserve their flowers. They are the ones that are inventing new shit and setting trends in various genres of music, they are the ones that put the most effort into their presentation and live performances. I'm sick and tired of the major showbiz institutions overlooking black, brown, asian, indigenous excellence. These people deserve to be rewarded for their hard work in the same capacity these institutions reward white (anglo) people. I'm sick of people celebrating white mediocrity and overlooking art of different cultures, ethnicities, races.
Now she's gonna be insufferable for at least another year. I've been listening and enjoying her music for the past 5-6 years (not a fan but a casual listener) for the lyrical content of her songs but she's not a poet in any way. Lana's been a staple for me in that regard. And the fact that she dragged her on stage to have that "Adele to Beyonce" moment just gave me the ick. I wouldn't be surprised if Swifties are taking Jay-Z's speech as a sub for TS's wins (haven't gone on twitter yet). I mean, if the shoe fits. Also wouldn't be surprised if she herself took it as a jab to her ego. She's also clearly drunk and possibly on some ❄️ (just my opinion). The only deserved AOTY she has is the Folklore one. And don't get me started on her EMMY win. The fact that a visual masterpieces like Lemonade and Homecoming lost to Carpool Karaoke is absolutely absurd to me. Also the fact that her visual album for her "Lion King" project wasn't even nominated when every single one of those in the category were comedy specials is especially infuriating (If anyone's interested, some of the music videos are up on Youtube). And Swift comes along and swoops up hers in a bullshit category with no actual nominees? Nah, things don't work like that. Or at least, they shouldn't.
Anyway, SZA and Lana were robbed. Victoria Monet's won Best New Artist, Miley got her first win, Phoebe Bridgers went home with the most wins of the night and everyone only talks about Taylor Swift. I'm patiently waiting for the tower to fall. She desperately needs a reality check. This drunkard didn't even acknowledge Celine Dion who handed her the award. I mean, she didn't even look at her. But proceeded to have a cringe and unnecessary handshake with Jack Antonoff. You're in a professional setting, behave like an adult and save those handshakes for the afterparty or do it behind the stage after giving a speech. She proceeded to drag Lana on stage to the point where she was trying not to fall. At this point I'm convinced that swifties have brainwashed her into the thinking that the nicest thing she can do for someone is grace them with her presence. Ana Clara's family serves as a great example.
Her hair was a miss, she looked like she was wearing a wedding gown and the black gloves didn't help. Her make up made her look old. Her accessories were excessive and tacky and it looked like she was also wearing hip pads, shoes were giving late 00s-early 10s. Overall, fire the whole styling team. You're a global superstar that's a billionaire and you look cheap as fuck.
TL;DR : She shouldn't have won. Lana and SZA were robbed. She once again made the night about herself and her narcissism peaked in the moments where she'd accepted her awards. Black creators are criminally overlooked. She ass kissed the grammy voters and Jay-Z shamed them just a few minutes later and was right. She needs to get rid of her stylist, hair stylist and make up artist. Another drunk award show. Beyonce should have at least one AOTY. Sick and tired of people celebrating white mediocrity in show business.
Sorry for the long ass paragraph, just felt like it was a safe space to vent 💜
you guys can vent all you want. I'm here for it🤏

Machiko Kyō (Rashomon, Floating Weeds, Older Brother Younger Sister)— Considered an early sex symbol in Japanese cinema. Also just an ethereal beauty who can also go feral/unhinged in a glorious way.

'Too Many Burdens to Bear' - #BG3 FanFic Review
Re-posted with the permission of the review author, @mishtress.
Friends, I bring you a review of a fanfic that I hold very close to my heart, and written by a very dear friend.
Too Many Burdens to Bear is an in-depth, insightful exploration of what it means to be a survivor of sexual violence and trauma. In it, @autistichalsin explores the toll that profound, untreated trauma can have on not just the psyche of a survivor, but also those who love them most. The story is centred around Halsin Silverbough, the once Archdruid of the Emerald Grove, and his lover and partner Kiaran, himself a victim of profound trauma as a result of his Bhaalspawn lineage, in a post-canon setting.
Burdens is a difficult, heavy read, and not for the faint of heart. That said, the way the author has navigated the deep complexities of trauma - not just for Halsin, but Kiaran as well - is a masterwork that few writers will ever achieve in their lifetime. I review books professionally as a journalist. I have studied works like JM Coetzee's award-winning novel Disgrace at length in an academic, university setting for a number of years. Coetzee won a number of awards for Disgrace, which also explores sexual violence. And yet, Coetzee's work cannot begin to even hope to compare to the nuanced, trauma-sensitive and profoundly compassionate narrative and story that autistichalsin had embarked upon in Burdens.
Shame is a prominent theme in Burdens as Kiaran tries to help Halsin overcome his profound sense of shame after his years held in captivity as a sex slave in the Underdark. Halsin's traumatic experiences are triggered after a horrifying encounter with someone from his past, and his anger, fear, and self-isolation in response threatens to destroy the couple. And yet, their love for one another and mutual trust perseveres through Halsin's pain as the couple try to find a way to help the former Archdruid find healing after centuries of repressing the most traumatic moments of his life.
Autistichalsin deftly, carefully, and compassionately explores the deep wounds that remain after sexual assault, with a particular focus on how such trauma can alter how survivors relate to sex, love, and romantic partners.
I have never, ever, in my entire life, read any work that so expertly navigates sexual violence, trauma, and the profound difficulties survivors must face on the path to healing, and particularly in relation to reclaiming their sexual agency. I have never before read a work that so insightfully examines the impact trauma can have on the mind of survivors, and how thoroughly and completely sexual violence can fuck up the way we think about ourselves and the world around us. I have worked in and researched the trauma field for a very, very long time (both academically, and in trying to understand my own experiences of sexual violence). There is not a single line, turn of phrase, or description of Halsin and Kiaran's experience that I could not somehow relate to or that I have not heard other survivors express over my many years - spanning more than a decade - working in this field.
This work deserves to be classed among the world's leading fiction that explores the vastly underrepresented field of recovery from sexual violence and how survivors strive to find healing and joy in sex after the most brutal and intimate of violations. As a rape and abuse survivor myself, I have found hope and healing in Burdens and the beautiful, loving and heartfelt relationship between Halsin and Kiaran. I hope other survivors find the same comfort that I have with this truly wonderful work.
As always, mind the tags on AO3, as Burdens includes heavy themes as well as NSFW elements. You can find Burdens here, and it is an ongoing work. I have included a snippet below the fold, and a picture of the husbear taken by @druidicwhisper.
Chapter 1
Halsin was hurting.
Kiaran wasn’t sure why- wasn’t sure what had happened. And he wasn’t sure how, or even if he could help. But the past few weeks, it had become glaringly clear that something was wrong. The elf loved to talk, and yet he had been so quiet, even when surrounded by the commune’s orphans. Even at night, when telling them their bedtime stories, he opted to read from a book instead of telling one of his own tales. And his voice was so distant while doing so, too, like he was going through the motions of reading while his mind was elsewhere.
If it was just that, Kiaran might have thought Halsin simply had a lot on his mind in this transitional time in their lives. They hadn’t been at their commune for too long, after all, and surely Halsin was thinking of many heavy things as they reclaimed the land that had spent the past century covered in shadow. But Halsin was distant from Kiaran, just as he was with the others: deliberately so. Kiaran could tell it was deliberate, for Halsin pulled away almost half the time Kiaran reached for him now. Even at night, in his meditations, Halsin would jolt when touched and then proceed to find somewhere else to rest, with a mumbled apology and a promise to find him later.
No, something else was clearly the matter, and Kiaran didn’t know what, nor did he know how to ask Halsin. True to form, his kind and supportive partner was all but unable to ask for help, no matter how much he needed it, and that went doubly so when those troubles were of the emotional sort. Halsin had admitted once to having gone for so long without confidantes thanks to the Shadow Curse that he was still adjusting to the idea it was possible for someone to care about his troubles.
Kiaran kept wracking his mind for an event that might have triggered such a reaction, but nothing came to him. Their lives had been blessedly quiet since arriving at the commune; their greatest worries were in blending the multiple cultures their members came from, in maintaining their food stores properly, and other such mundane issues. No longer were they balancing the world’s fate on their shoulders, or fighting to break a Shadow Curse, or doing anything that resembled the other traumas Halsin had fought against in his long life.
Unless…
Kiaran frowned suddenly. Could that be it? Maybe Halsin was so used to living one crisis after another that he was unprepared for true peace. Maybe his mind was still experiencing the tumult, even removed from the situation. After all, it wasn’t like the last century had been conducive to healing, and the idyllic calm would give his mind plenty of time to wander to those deep wounds that had never healed, only half-scabbed over.
Kiaran watched Halsin, currently in bear form, curl in on himself in the corner of their hand-built treehouse. It was only a theory, but it was the best lead he had, really. If it turned out to be something else, Kiaran might never figure out what it was unless Halsin volunteered the information himself, and that seemed highly unlikely, if Halsin hadn’t said anything already.
There was no way to find out but by talking to him, Kiaran supposed. He sighed and wandered over to Halsin’s spot, sitting next to the wildshaped cave bear and petting his fur. “Hello, love. Can we talk?” he asked softly. “I… won’t beat around the bush here, sweetheart. I’m worried about you. Very worried.”

Not So Berry (Straud Descendants) Gen 9
Today's (9/25/2024) Episode: One Star Among Many
Confident their babies were in safe hands, the couple arrived at Studio PBP for the awards ceremony early and feeling fantastic.
Luigi hoped to win of course, but however it turned out, he was thrilled that his video had caught the eye of the industry leaders on the voting board.
He felt awkwardly self-conscious when he first arrived, but once security waved him past and he began to be recognized by other, more established, stars, a sense of confidence and achievement settled in. He motioning Noemi to “bring it in” for a selfie to remember the evening by.
Heading inside they grabbed seats in the front row. Luigi’s category would be up soon after the opening act, and they couldn’t wait.
He tried not to fidget in his seat as the presenter introduced the nominees and showed a short clip of each nominated video. Finally, after what seemed like a lifetime, she finished with: “and the winner of the Best Video award is… Luigi Lawbourne for “Winter in Windenburg”!”
Luigi’s face split into a huge grin as the camera panned over to capture his reaction. Noemi kissed him softly on the cheek and whispered, “it’s a great video and a well-deserved win. Congratulations my love”.
Luigi stepped up to the mic and fixed his gaze on Noemi “First of all I want to thank my lovely wife. Her perfect mix of tough love and tenderness is the magic behind all my achievements. Honey, you are the best teammate a sim could ask for and I cherish you with all my heart.”
“Of course,” he continued, turning towards the camera “I have to give a big shoutout to my brothers who were partying with me the night I filmed Winter in Windenburg.” “Growing up an only child I never expected to have siblings, and now I can’t imagine my life without you guys – you rock!”
As he finished by giving thanks to the generations before him and the fans across the nation that gave his work meaning, his rousing and ever more inclusive speech ended up maxing his charisma skill. Yet another pinnacle of achievement to celebrate!
Luigi took his seat and listened politely as the next winner was announced. Noemi did her best to stay focused, but after the fourth or fifth nearly identical acceptance speech her eyes started to glaze over. Leaning close she whispered to her husband, “I’m dying of boredom here… rescue me?”
He replied with a solemn wink. As soon as the cameras were pointed towards the other side of the room, he grabbed her hand and crept quickly away.
The couple didn’t get far before they were interrupted by a familiar voice calling: “Little Luigi Lawbourne!”
“Johnny” Luigi said with a smile, greeting the idol he’d grown up knowing as an old family friend. “I like your fashion sense” he deadpanned, gesturing at the other sims very familiar outfit “Though I’m surprised you went as far as getting a nose piercing.”
“What can I say?” Johnny replied, “Your dad was a hoot, and he raised one cool dude. I’m a big fan.” “The bling…” he winked “is fake. Shhh, don’t tell!”
Luigi laughed “Well, either way I’ve got to get a picture of this!” He turned to Noemi “Honey, can you grab us a table upstairs? It should be quiet up there with the show still going on.” With a smile and a wave she took off, while the boys headed to the photo wall to get their picture taken.
Luigi said his goodbyes to Johnny, who was due onstage to announce the Best Comedy Performance winner. Passing by the roped off front doors on his way upstairs, he noticed a large crowd clustered around the entrance and paused to take in the scene.
With so many famous folks in residence Luigi didn’t think many of the crowd would take any interest in HIM, but much to his delight as soon as they noticed him several started waving and calling out, screaming his name like meeting him would be the highlight of their night.
He couldn’t say no to that welcome, wading into the fray and happily spending the next few minutes passing out autographs, hugs, and selfies. This was by far his favorite part of fame, and if one or two of the pictures being taken got into the paper and helped his reputation… even better!
Luigi was riding high on his win and the adoration of his fans as he finally made his way upstairs to join his wife in the quiet reception area. With most everyone else still downstairs watching the awards ceremony the place was basically deserted, just the way she liked it.
His smile widened as he observed the platter of meat and cheese and glass of juice waiting for him. It had been a long day, and he was famished.
He didn't usually allow himself the indulgence of nectar anymore due to his diabetes but when Noemi told him "I thought you deserved a little congratulatory treat" he couldn't disagree. The first sip was doubly sweet after so long denying himself the pleasure.
Luigi felt truly relaxed, as if he was still honeymooning in Batuu. Sipping his drink, he chatted with his bride about their plans to capitalize on the win to help with the final publicity push for Project Daisy. Unfortunately, as his body settled, his head unexpectedly began spinning in a terribly familiar way.
Noemi grew alarmed as her husband's eyes glazed over. Burying his head in his arms he groaned "I know this feeling… its Bloaty Head. Not to mention I don't think I took my supplement this morning. Help please? I can't even see straight."
His shoulders hunched further as his glucose monitoring app began pinging stridently on his phone. Noemi dug through his inventory, pushing an iron pill into his hand and discreetly injecting him with a dose of insulin. "Hopefully this will make you feel better. Is there anything else I can do?"
“We need to get out of here… ideally without those paparazzi vultures descending. They'd just LOVE this after what happened at the market."
“Just try and relax, I'll be right back." Noemi made her way downstairs, searching for an alternative way out of the club. Flagging down a security guard she led him upstairs, where he waited patiently to escort her and her ailing spouse out a discreet side door leading to a private teleporter.
Luigi managed to mumble “thank you man" to their savior, who returned a curt and sympathetic nod in reply as they slipped through the portal that would carry them away towards home and some much-needed rest for the sick, sad, star of our show.

Superlatives: Rumbelle Lifetime Achievement Award.
Each year, from among the Rumbelle community, we find an individual who, either by creating or doing something spectacular in the fandom, stands out above the crowd. Perhaps they made people feel welcome, or organized events. It may be that they contributed something unique, never before seen or experienced in the Rumbelle fandom, or they, in some way, embodied the fandom as a whole. Each of this years’ nominees have met these criteria in spades, and for that they deserve our recognition, a place in the Rumbelle ‘Hall of Fame; the fandom’s congratulations and our respect for the outstanding contribution they have made to our community.

hey, what do you think of austin in elvis? i know it's one of his biggest projects and i confess i haven't had the courage to watch it yet because i feel that maybe the film glamorizes elvin's story too much when we know he wasn't that glamorous, right? always abusive and problematic with women, especially priscilla, involvement with minors, drugs and all that. idk about the movie's approach, but it annoys me a lot of people (or even austin) think elvis is some kind of inspiration because ok, he was talented, but come on…its not hate yk, but i see so many people deifying the movie and if it's only because of austin's performance i really believe it because he's a PERFECT actor…i wanted to hear from you :)
hiii! assuming you’re a newer fan if you haven’t seen it since i feel like that’s how most of us (at least generally speaking) got here.
i saw elvis 10 times in theaters, once 3 times in 48 hours when it was doing a $5 ticket run during 2023 awards season LOL. soooo i think that tells you how i feel about it! it’s one of my favorite films of all time. i think austin absolutely knocked it out of the park and baz’s directing style is *my* style so. it was all around perfect, to me personally.
i also feel the need to clarify that i am an elvis presley fan. i have a tattoo for the man 😅. i understand he had some very deep seeded issues (i also adore priscilla to bits. not one of those elvis fan who thinks she’s an evil incarnate for daring to love him while also being honest about his short comings! i gen really liked the priscilla movie as well!) while 1+1=2 a movie endorsed by the estate isn’t going to show every waking bad thing he ever did, i think it did a good job of showing that he was very infallible. it shows him cheating on priscilla, and his anger issues. (one of priscilla compliments to austin was that he nailed elvis’s temper…🫣) the movie as a whole is very ‘heavy is the head that wears the crown’ themed in that it’s centered around the ups and severe downs of the massive fame he got, at a time where he was really the first artist to achieve that level of super stardom. i love it for that.
but in terms of reservations about watching it for the first time- i think it may help you (and anyone else with similar qualms about it) to check out some of the interview lisa marie (elvis and priscilla’s daughter) did with austin? she is very *very* protective of her father’s legacy, understandably. but she adored the movie, spoke very highly of it and loved austin to bits. it makes me emotional to know she got the biopic of her father that she deserved in this lifetime.
she unfortunately passed away suddenly in january 2023 just a few days after watching austin win his golden globe and i have never been crushed by a celebrity death like that. ever. the love she shared with/for austin was so so beautiful and i was heartbroken that such a happy time for her with all the movies success, especially after losing her son to suicide in 2020 got cut short how it did. (if this feels like i’m being OTT, i’m not. lisa herself captioned a photo with austin during press ‘i do believe this might be my first smile in 2 years’)
just for some added context re: lisa marie and austin. during press she took him upstairs at graceland for *3 hours*, something that’s outright unheard of for non family members. even baz only got 20 minutes up there for pre production, and he wasn’t allowed to take photos/had to quick sketch and memorize as much as he could.
i know her adoration of austin meant the world to him, and to me that says so much more about his portrayal of elvis then i’ll ever be able to as just a fan. i hope this helps, but feel free to circle back and follow up!!! ❤️
