thinking about link post-calamity finding comfort in hanging out in gerudo town in his disguise because nobody knows who he is there. instead of being Link, the Hero of Hyrule, he’s just Link, the quirky little hylian vai who runs around buying all the fruit and arrows and keeps trying to convince furosa to finally let her order a noble pursuit from the canteen. but he also surprisingly finds comfort in wearing his lil outfit for other reasons…
#botw#totk#botw link#totk link#femboy link!!!#genderqueer link!!!!#once zelda discovers he had to wear the disguise and eventually that he actually kind of likes it#she teaches him to braid his hair in some of the various styles she does#sometimes even when he presents more masc for his knightly duties he starts putting some lil braids in to keep his hair up while he fights#it’s pretty and practical!#or sometimes he’ll wear some jeweled earrings instead of his inconspicuous little hoops#they’re pretty but also provide element resistance!#PS zelda thinks he looks super hot in both the desert voe armor and the vai outfit#but it different ways#she is queerly attracted to her pretty lil knight#zelink#gerudo link#riju will also do his hair and give him accessories to try on when he visits#her clothes are too small for him#she tries to do gerudo eyeliner on him and zelda but it’s a little too intense for their softer hylian features#buliara walks in bcuz she only gratingly approves of riju inviting both zelda AND link in her quarters#and realizes…they’re all just having fun :)#and also if you don’t mind my input my lady the color of the sarong you were gifted 4 moons ago would suit the little voe much better

From a year ago. Genuinely can't get over that Nintendo seemed to listen to us about the Desert Voe set and made his armor in totk even sluttier

sry im crossed but i was playing botw and thinking about Link being pregnant with Mipha's baby after his whole slumber. Link experiences his first trimester in the Eldin region, pitching in there, assuming he felt hot all the time due to the VOLCANO that he was hanging out by instead of a pregnancy
Link heads towards Rito Village when he starts to show, and both Teba and Saki know that he's pregnant before he even realizes it himself. they probably don't wanna send Link up to vah medoh but they don't have a choice. insert link with a cute five/six month bump in his rito garments and worrying over Tulin bc his instincts are kicking in
Link spends his last trimester in the desert, traveling towards Gerudo Town in hopes of getting in and getting advice for the end of his pregnancy and delivery. But, despite his state, Link is still a voe and not allowed within Gerudo Town. Cue Link in that DELICIOUS vai disguise with a beautiful round belly. Riju is the one to finally convince Link to go to Zora's Domain, though Link stubbornly helps with the yiga clan and vah naboris despite his state bc he's the hero of hyrule he's fine! hes totally fine! even though theres definitely a little Zora baby about to burst him at the seams but he's fine!
now by the time Link does get to Zora's Domain hes totally overdue. his trip to the domain along the path takes twice as long at least, bc he still insists he can fight but its not. y'know. his best work. and he can't move that fast. when he FINALLY gets there, muzu doesn't believe that this knocked up little twunk could POSSIBLY be the same guy Mipha was head over heels for. and in his state, Link can't put on the Zora armor Mipha made him bc of his belly. luckily by this point he goes into labor, and despite the bullshit muzu is going on about, all the Zora help Link deliver. it definitely takes a bit, even with Link's strength, because it's a royal Zora due to Mipha's heritage so it's larger than average. when it's all said and done, Link is holding a cute (not-so) little Zora baby that looks JUST like Mipha. Then I imagine Sidon looking at Muzu like "my dad is NEVER gonna let you hear the end of this one lmfao"

Day 5: heatstroke | Whumpee– Wind | Addt'l– Wild, Warriors, the Chain
Gerudo Desert is hotter than anyone anticipated.
TWs– passing out, heatstroke
Whump Rating– 4/10
preview under the cut!!
Wind tumbled to the ground, groaning from the impact. Around him, his brothers were in similar states, all slowly reorienting themselves after a portal.
Beneath him, the sand shifted. He opened his eyes excitedly– sand usually meant a beach, which, more often than not, meant they were in his world.
Wind’s excitement immediately died upon seeing nothing but sand for miles and miles. No ocean, no water, nothing. Just sand as far as the eye could see.
“Oh, we’re in my world!” Wild exclaimed. He pulled his slate out, showing off the map. Wind took a peek– he was a pirate, after all, and maps were quite familiar to him. If Wild’s slate was to be believed, then they were in the furthest-most reaches of his world, in the Gerudo Desert. That… kind of sucked, but Wind wasn’t too broken up about it.
Warriors groaned, peeling off a piece of his armor. “It’s hot,” he stated. Sweat beaded along the Captain’s forehead as armor was removed. Every time he let go of the metal pieces, his hands made a disgustingly sticky, suctiony noise.
“Right! Here, let me see…” Wild dug through his slate, pulling out various pieces of clothing. “I have… two vai sets, a voe set, a sapphire circlet, Wind’s shirt, and… a few potions.” He piled stuff on the ground, searching for more things.
Hyrule grabbed the fabric of one of the vai tops, gently rubbing his thumb across it. “Could I wear this one?” The clothing had been white, then dyed green in Hateno. Wild hadn’t liked it as much as the blue, so he hadn’t dyed his original set.
Wild glanced at him. “Sure, yeah. Wear the whole set, you’ll need it.” Hyrule grabbed the three pieces, nodding. “Okay, so unless someone wants to wear the blue vai set, I’ll wear that. Legend, Four, Sky, you three take a piece of the voe set. Someone can take the circlet as well, and… Twi, how about you take Wind’s shirt?” Wild held out a shirt that was an exact copy of what Wind was already wearing.
“Why do you have my exact shirt?” Wind wondered, glancing down at himself. “How did you get my shirt? It’s one of a kind!”
Wild shrugged. “Found it,” he replied unhelpfully.

Day 84: Bazaar to Gerudo Town
At Kara Kara Bazaar, the oasis is low. Maika is worried about her little sister in Gerudo Town. Emri advises looking for the lighthouse if I get lost in the sand shroud - I hadn't noticed, but they've erected one atop the Bazaar.
A Rito called Guy is here - I think he's been here for years. Seems like he doesn't have much on his plate. Must be nice.
Two merchants, Robsten and Benja are waiting for their friend Ponthos to come back from the desert. I'm not optimistic for them, with those things out there. And apparently there's a sinkhole too - great. Though Robsten says there might be caves underneath them… Interesting. They say their friend went west, and was under instruction to find a tall building if he got lost. I can keep an eye out, but I shouldn't keep Riju waiting much longer.
Chessica is here all the way from Lurelin Village, which is troubled by pirates. Maybe I should head there after I've helped Riju.
There's a researcher here as well, Tauma. They're trapped by the sand shroud. Apparently there are interesting ruins near Digdogg Bridge. Noted.
I climb to the top of the Bazaar, where they've put the lighthouse. From here, I can see over the sand shroud to Gerudo Town - there's a shrine atop the Palace. I wonder how far I'll get if I glide…
Only one way to find out. I jump.
Hmm. Not fantastically far. I just about catch what must be the far side of a desert rift.
This definitely wasn't here before. There's a light faintly visible through the sand - I can't work out if it's the sun or a lighthouse on the town. It's the right direction for the town either way, so I follow it.
I spot some ruins and climb them for another vantage point - I'm briefly above the sand shroud before I glide into it again. And then the walls of Gerudo Town coalesce out of the sand. I've made it, with only a brief glimpse of any creatures on the way. There are two gerudo guards at the gate - I don't have my woman's clothes… but Dorrah and Merina don't stop me as I walk in. Things must be really bad.
The town looks wrecked. Abandoned. There's sand everywhere. Shop fronts are either blocked up or buried. The beautifully mosaic water supply is dry. What's happened here?
At the base of the Palace steps, there are torches, and a hole leads to a tunnel. But here I am stopped - Reeza will not allow a Voe into the shelter. A shelter at all is a good sign, though - it means survivors. And it turns out Riju has sent word ahead - I'm allowed to be here after all.
I should check the Palace first though - it's likely Riju is there.
A blood moon builds as I exit the tunnel. Gerudo Town is even more sinister with those wisps of gloom.
Riju is at the top of the steps. She notes the three gibdo hives around the town, and believes it heralds a massive attack. I fear she's right.
Golden light in the air, and a summons. I recognise the signs. Riju will be a Sage too. But where can the temple be?
One thing at a time. Buliara, Riju's personal guard, directs me to liaise with the soldiers to work out a plan and get supplies before the attack. She says fire, as well as lightning, will work against gibdos.
We deploy troops at each of the gates, and barricade the east for good measure. I get kitted out in gerudo weaponry. It is a shame I don't have the matching armor - just the headband.
I do have one spike from Dinraal. Buliara said fire would work. I fuse it to the Gerudo scimitar.
I think I'm as ready as I can be. As dawn approaches, we wait.
#totkdaily#totk#loz#zelda#legend of zelda#day 84#we're back baby!#I've just finished queuing the whole rest of the story#I'm so proud to have seen this through and so looking forward to sharing it with all of you#thank you for your patience!

Day 6: "It should have been me." (Follows Day 4)
"Wild..."
"Don't," Wild snarled, sand spraying beneath golden boots as he spun sharply to pace back in the direction he'd come. Heat rose in shimmering waves as the sun beat down on the Gerudo desert. But the young hero's heart was frozen like the depths of Tabantha as scenarios whirled through his mind, each more gruesome and horrid than the next.
"Wild, sit down before you give yourself heat stroke," Sky tried again, voice gentle as he held out a coaxing hand.
"Voe armor has sapphire's. Counteracts the heat."
"Not the point kid," Time replied, head tipped wearily back against the stone walls of Gerudo town. Their leader had stripped out of his armor in an attempt to ward of the ever opressive desert heat, and with out it he looked some how both older and younger than he should have any right to. "Wearing yourself out isn't going to fix things. Chief Riju already sent her best scouts into the desert to look for-"
"I should be the one out there!" Wild snapped, the fingers of one hand tapping anxiously on the handle of his slate as the other rose to angrily yank a lock of long blonde hair from his vision.
"The Yiga know the desert far better than we do," Wars interjected, only for his worlds to be rebuffed by a sharp shake of Wilds head.
"Not better than me. I know every inch of this damn place. I could find them if you'd just let me-"
"Let you do what? Charge out there all on your own with no back up and no plan?" Legend scoffed, raising his chin defiantly when Wild's eyes snapped up to meet his own in a glare. "I know that's how you usually work, and the Yiga clearly know it too. I'd bet everything I own that they are counting on it."
"So what if they are?!" Wild seethed, voice growing steadily louder as he took a step towards the Hero of Legend. "I have faced those assholes more times than any of you can dream. I infiltrated their based. I killed their damn leader!"
"Wild, no one is doubting your skills here. But-"
"WIND IS OUT THERE BECAUSE OF ME!" Wild bellowed. "THEY ARE HURTING HIM BECASUE OF ME! THEY MAY HAVE KILLED HIM BY NOW BECAUSE. OF. ME. THEY SHOULD HAVE TAKEN ME AND LEFT YOU ALL OUT OF IT. **IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN ME**!"

tips for making combat as easy as possible in the switch zelda games? i get so nervous with every single monster and can barely play the game 🫣
oh babyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy thank you for letting me yap about zelda this is my favorite thing to do!!!!!
i'm gonna talk about totk bc that's what i'm playing rn but if you're playing botw and something here doesn't really work, let me know and i'll help you out! i had strategies for every monster too. i'm also not talking about actual bosses so if you need help with any of those also let me know, they're all very easy once you understand their mechanics :)
if you're not good with flurry rush or parrying or any of those things, don't worry neither am i! so here's a list on how i brute force everything as efficient as i can!
careful, long ass post below :D
some little tips:
every monster has a mechanic, you just need to learn their patterns and repeat them a bunch
you can always pause to change your armor or weapon or heal and your inventory is huge so you can have a bunch of food that will help you
if all else fails, you can teleport yourself somewhere else and come back when you feel ready!
if there's a specific enemy that scares you too much, there's no shame in checking a map online to mark them in your game to avoid them
read what npcs tell you about monsters, they give you a ton of hints on how to fight many of them
if you're playing botw, stasis is an amazing tool! once you upgrade it you can freeze creatures for a bit which is very useful. also great to detect if a decayed guardian is still alive or if a big rock is actually a talus
if you're on totk, you can also detect monsters like taluses and evermeans with the camera!
other tips: if you know all of this skip to where i start talking about monsters
FOOD: very important! what makes zelda so easy is that you can literally pause at any moment and fill your hearts. and you don't really need to be a chef you just need to know what ingredients do. if you add five of the same ingredient it will give you a better effect. here's an example of stuff i use often:
hylian tomatoes: a bunch of hearts
hearty truffles/radishes: max hearts + extra hearts
sundelions: restores gloom damage
mighty bananas: attack power
ironshrooms: defense
(in botw durians were the best fucking thing in the game bc they were so easy to farm. i miss them sm!!!)
etc. you can google this if you wanna learn more but basically always have some of these in your inventory for when you're going to attack monsters
ARMOR: in this playthrough i just maxed my champion's leathers, hylian hood and hylian trousers. they were easy (just time consuming) to upgrade and it's not bad for when you're getting hit.
other than that i'm trying to upgrade as much as i can the snowquill set so i don't get frozen, the flamebreaker set so i don't get cooked in the volcano, the desert voe set so i don't melt in the desert and the depths set so gloom doesn't destroy me. for electric attacks i just use the lightning helm and in another universe i would also upgrade the barbarian set bc of the attack but i will NOT be fighting a bunch of lynels absolutely fucking not.
remember to use the correct set when you're fighting elemental monsters btw! many times the elemental attacks literally won't hurt you at all if you have the set bonuses
other than that i don't really bother upgrading almost anything else bc it's annoying and not worth it! this is the only completionist thing i don't care about
WEAPONS (kinda useless for botw): FUSE 👏 YOUR 👏 WEAPONS 👏 monster horns are good for fusing, fusing weapons with other weapons is good too (especially the gloom ones so they don't hurt you!). i'm killing a bunch of talusses and flux constructs, the thing they drop is always good to fuse. go crazy with fusing! remember you can also fuse stuff to the master sword!!!
also remember to fuse stuff to your arrows!
bomb flowers: your absolute best friend (rip auto bombs)
eyes: hits monsters right on their weak points
chuchu jellies or elemental fruits: amazing for elemental monsters
puffshrooms: monsters have a harder time noticing you
gibdo bones: easy to get in the desert and add A TON of strength to your arrows (bad for melee weapons tho)
another thing is shields! i barely use them bc i'm bad at this game, so i have most of my shields fused to rockets!!! since revali's gale is gone (rip) this is what i use now to get out of a tricky situation or to avoid climbing a lot.
SAGES (also useless for botw): hot take but i actually like having them around, i only dismiss them when they get annoying but they're actually quite useful. they usually take down small monsters like keeses and octorocks before i even realize i'm being attacked and when fighting a big monster or a horde of monsters they help you take them down faster! mineru is the only one i never use
okay i can't think of anything else so here's my strategy for every overworld monster (not actual bosses like ganondorf)
MONSTERS!!
(if you're on botw you don't need to worry about frox, gleeok, constructs or gloom spawns btw, also remember stasis is your friend here and the champions abilities are amazing, especially urbosa's)
HINOX: [weak point: the eye] easiest monster to kill. just throw an arrow with an eye and you will hit it right in the eye lol. once it's down get a double handed weapon and long press the Y button to do that spin attack or do the fast attack with a spear weapon, that works too.
STONE TALUS: [weak point: ore on top or back] get underneath it and use ascent to get on top, then use a double handed weapon with a rock fused or something to make a hammer and hit it with the spin attack on the ore thing. for taluses with the ore on the back just spam arrows with bombs (not in the ones in the volcano caves tho they will explode in your face!!!!) for frost talus just throw a fire fruit at it to stun it fast and same for igneo talus with ice fruits. for battle taluses try to kill the bokoblins first if you can bc they're a nuisance, then ascend on the platform and hit it. oh and i just learned that if they throw their arm at you you can throw it back with Recall omg!!!!
MOLDUGA: [weak point: the belly] these bitches were so much easier in botw with auto bombs but worry not they're still pretty easy. they can't see you but they can hear your steps in the sand so all you have to do is get on top of any rock or building and throw something at the sand like an apple or something you won't miss. it will hear whatever you throw and come out of the sand to attack it, this is when you throw an arrow with a bomb at them to stun them. now just get close and hit it on the belly and that's it just get back on top of a rock when it goes into the sand again.
FLUX CONSTRUCTS: [weak point: the one different cube that moves around] for these guys Recall and Ultrahand are the tools you need. use Ultrahand to grab the weak point cube, if you miss it just keep removing any block you can grab. once you grab the correct one you will take apart the whole thing so just find the weak one and smack it as much as you can. for the one attack where it throws a bunch of cubes at you just run to the side so they don't hit you and then get on top of one and use Recall on it, it will bring you right to the weak point.
FROX: [weak point: the eye] for froxes you can do the same thing that you do with hinox where you throw an arrow at the eye but i find it easier to wait for it to inhale you kirby style and this is when you throw a bomb at it. it will stun it quickly and you have enough time to get on top of it and destroy the ores it has on its back. if it charges at you just fucking run to the side so it doesn't eat you.
GLEEOKS: [weak point: the three eyes] the scariest one so far but not that bad after you fight it. as always just throw an arrow with an eye at it but this time throw three as fast as you can! if you have a lynel bow that does x3 arrows that would be better but if not just spam eye arrows. like with any other elemental, fire against ice and ice against fire, but any eye is fine so don't worry if you don't have enough. once it's down hit it on one of the heads. if you can manage to kill it fast then yay you don't get to the hardest part but if not! it will fly up high and charge at you some elemental attacks:
frost gleeoks will throw some icicles at you, you can see where they fall so avoid them, then get on top of one and use Recall to go up high. also it's better if you don't have any flame weapons equipped at this moment cause they will melt the icicles!
flame gleeoks throw a big fireball, get the hell out of there so the impact doesn't hit you. this will create an updraft that will take you close to it
thunder gleeoks throw lightning at you, but before they hit you, you'll see some beams of light on the floor. avoid them and after they hit they also create an updraft that will get you up there
once near the gleeok just do the eye arrows thing again and it will fall down. they take fall damage so i usually just have to do this whole thing once!
LYNELS: not a boss thank god but probably harder. my strategy: avoid them :) but if you have to fight them: throw a puffshroom so it can't see you, once you're closer throw an arrow with an eye to stun it, then run to the back of it and mount it, once on top you can hit it five times so get the strongest fucking weapon you have! then repeat the whole thing until it's dead 🙏 it's better to fight them from up close cause they have pretty hard attacks when you're far away
GLOOM HANDS: RUN!!! jk (kinda) they can't climb anything so get on top of a platform or something and spam bombs at all the hands. don't wait too much tho cause the hands will reappear if you don't kill them all. then there's phantom ganon but i don't find it that hard? just hit him a lot and have some good food on you cause it does hit hard. i avoid these fuckers as much as i can bc they're too scary lol and not that worth it. the worst part is that they appear out of fucking nowhere so i always mark their location on the map and get the hell out of there.
people will tell you that phantom ganon and lynels give the best weapons which is true but i find them not that worth it considering how much i hate fighting them! so don't feel like you need to fight them if you don't want to
THAT'S IT I THINK??????? don't be scared remember that they all have very specific mechanics so just repeat the patterns and you will get rid of all of them super fast!!! if you need help with literally any other monster let me know! i actually love combat in these games cause it's pretty easy and many times very silly
#phew i wrote a lot of stuff here#i also went in game to check everything i'm saying makes sense#i hope this is helpful 🙏#always happy to yap about zelda#replies#long post#totk#tears of the kingdom

Replaying TotK and trying to wear the Yiga armor as much as possible has led to some hilarious moments in Gerudo areas like.
I had to go to jail to get a photo of a stela for the historian lady so I just put on my Yiga gear and got thrown in. Then I was like well it’s all sand shroud shitty outside and I didn’t see any guards so surely if I simply ascend out through the roof I’ll be fine. Nope! Emerged, immediately got called a “thief” despite minding my own damn business escaping from jail like a perfectly normal person, and got thrown back in and ~yelled at~ again. God forbid a Blademaster do anything.
Then in the Lightning Temple it was just fun running around with Riju acting like she didn’t even notice. Like cutscenes and everything, of course one’s outfit can’t change the dialogue or anything but Riju clasping hands with a lil’ Yiga boy and vowing to help him forever was just astfglddkdafs peace and love in Gerudo Desert.
BUT THEN right after all the scripted dialogue was over and all the Gerudo warriors literally bowed to a member of the Yiga Clan (I mean…I guess from Link’s perspective he’s infiltrating but from my perspective? …glorytoMasterKohga)…Buliara was just like “you’re dressed like an evil guy, go away and don’t come back til you cut that shit out.” And I got dumped outside where it was immediately too hot. So it just looked like Link was sadly reeling from this rejection.
Well ladies you can prevent me from wearing my uniform all you want but that doesn’t change the most important thing. My Kohga paraglider I MEAN what’s inside my heart! i.e. Kohga BANANAS.
Also one last thing, I put on the Lightning Helm to cover my face to talk to that one gal in the Voe and You class and after that walked around with it on for a while. A LOT of Gerudo popped up lil speech balloons commenting stuff like “I recognize that helm!” and “it couldn’t be…our helm?” and such. And I was like literally this is not yours. You did not make this. Yiga scientists gave their lives to create this thing. Show some respect! But on the other hand good job Banana Boys it’s so perfect it fools everyone. <3 (Kinda want to wear it near Riju now she’s back in town and see if she says anything tho.)

actually—thinking about the sets and clothes that link and kado would Actually take with them based on the sets i usually wear when i play:
LINK: snow feather set, climbing bandana (specifically and i wear it at all times lol), zora armor (usually only the chest plate tho i lowkey hate it cuz im a Hater <3), gerudo set + desert voe set (desert voe >>>>> but it’s also cuz im salty), but my usual go to outfit for him is the hero’s tunic with the regular hyrule pants lmao
so for kado it’d probably be:
KADO: sheikah set, snow feather set, desert voe set
#i should draw them in all the owlfits ar some point#s: breath of reincarnation#MAYBE I SHOULD DRAW KADO IN ALL…. THE FITS….

Tears of the kingdom harringrove AU would include
Billy using ascend to scare the shit out people, espically Steve, he just use it to pop into Steve’s room when he least expecting.
Him finding the chu chus to be the most annoying monster ever. They always pop up when he doing some thing important or trying to get somewhere. He especially hates it when chu chu jelly gets in his hair.
He loves attaching muddle buds to his arrows, he watches the chaos unfold with a grin when he shoots them at enemies.
He once tried riding a gleeok, that didn’t end too well.
He looks great in desert vai clothes and even hotter in Desert voe armor. The desert voe armor is his favorite, finally something that shows off his tits while fighting.
The only thing that terrifies him are gloom hands.
The Korkos annoy the shit out of him and he would aggressively get one back to they’re friend.
