Derry's Newest Attraction - ODYSSEY

Welcome to Derry, we are excited to announce the grand opening of ODYSSEY, the residential Roller Rink.

We have a concession stand, arcade games, as well as our main attraction - the roller rink! We offer blade rentals as well prizes for those who play in our games room.

If you have an original character for IT (2017 + 2019) feel free to make a mood board!

What is a mood board? Glad you asked! A mood board is a series of images that you find which fit the vibe of your character! All to flow with the theme of "80's Roller Rink" or "Arcade"

A good example might be, an outfit your character might wear, how their hair might be styled, the general vibe (are they skating? playing games?) etc. You have free reign as it's your character!

If you'd like to expand on this, feel free! Maybe you'd like to draw something, or perhaps write something! From doodles to headcanons about your characters experience is ALL welcomed!

You are more than welcome to include canon characters! Just be aware that there can and may be overlap with another person's post and both are valid.

ODYSSEY - The goth can't skate..

Edgar had heard word of the rollar rink from a few people in town. He had no interest in going. Though he was dragged along by his little brother, much to his annoyance.

Edgar's fashion style is still his usual gothic self, just more loose, with tank tops and shorts. With dangling jewelry. Which probably isn't the best choice for skating.. Though it doesn't help that the boy can't skate to save his life.. He usually sticks to the railing of the rollar rink to stay balance.

He is more comfortable outside of the rink, He is often seen at the skee-ball area of the arcade section of the building.

As Bethany sat on her bed in a late summer afternoon, bored out of her mind she nearly drifts to sleep before- "BETHANY! PHONE!" Belch yells

"ALRIGHT!" She yells back before picking up the landline beside her bed. "hello?" "hey doll~" She nearly rolls her eyes just at the sound of the voice on the other end of the phone. "hello Patrick, what do you want" "Well since you're home and not doing anything I thought I would phone ya and invite you out to that new roller joint" he drawls.

"ya mean that Odyssey joint? hockstetter since when did you skate?" "oh come on just comeee and if ya don't have fun we can go outback and ill make sure to give ya some real fu-" "hockstetter you better not put your paws on my sister!" she hears belch yell and she groans. "BELCH GET OFF THE LINE!" Bethany yells out.

ODYSSEY - babysitting duties

Maggie’s slipping a mixtape into her walkman when Greta rudely slams her bedroom door open. “Get your car. We gotta pick up Marcia and Sally. Sally’s crush is gonna be at the Odyssey tonight.” “What? … Like now? Ask your dad.” “He’s busy.” “Okay. Ask Melissa.” “Her and her husband said you’d take me.” Of course he did. But who was she to disobey her father? “… Go get in the car. I’ll be there in five.”

Two lovely hours are spent at the Odyssey, playing Space Invaders, skating, getting slushes, pausing every 30 minutes to go see where Greta and the girls went.

The night is cut short when she spots the girls lounging around satan’s children, the Bowers Gang. Sally is flirting with Patrick while Marcia is busy being ignored by Belch and Vic in a heated foosball match. Greta is boredly watching alongside Henry. If Maggie didn’t know any better, she would’ve assumed the blonde terrors were twins.

Stalking from afar she sips her slushee, watching as Patrick slinks his arm around the giddy giggling Sally. Too fucking giddy. Suspicious, Maggie approaches the group, cheap booze and stale cigarettes wafting into her face.

“Go get in the car. We’re leaving.” “Why?” “Don’t argue with me. Get in the car.” “Awww c’mon. It was just for fun.” “Don’t be such a buzzkill!” “Why are you always embarrassing me?” “Somebody’s got her panties in a twist." “Take a swig. It won’t kill ‘ya!”

Before the comments can escalate, she’s ripping away the tipsy girls, hauling ass to the exit. Agitated horny a-holes calling out while her arms are being scratched and yanked at by drunken tweens.

Odysseus: I don't think I do. I think I just developed Stockholm Syndrome.

May I ask what genres you like in media? And are there any books/movies/manga etc. you'd recommend?

I like all kinds of genres, but I typically am drawn to stories that are character driven and some realm of fantastical, whether it be fantasy or mythology.

The only things I avoid are mystery novels (the bad ones are really bad) and horror movies (I'm a scardy cat). I also don't listen to many podcasts or audio dramas.

It's hard to recommend things to others without knowing their tastes. I'll take a wild guess that you're here for my writing, so I'll try to recommend a few things based on what I think you might enjoy based on that alone.

Ulysses European Odyssey

ULYSSES European Odyssey (UEO) is an epic project from 2022-2024 across 18 cities in 16 countries, producing artistic responses in public spaces to social and cultural themes identified in the 18 episodes of James Joyce’s Ulysses. At the same time, a cycle of 18 public symposia will be held in each city to produce 309 questions (Ulysses, Episode 17) towards creating a new arts and society charter for Europe. The project also has 30 artist residencies which will contribute to a new book, Europe-Ulysses (working title), alongside 18 new writing commissions, one writer from each city.

UEO consists of a new European network of 18 partners co-producing a single public project comprising 3 Acts of 18 scenes from 2022-24 across public spaces in 18 European cities of 16 different countries – Athens, Trieste, Vilnius, Gyanógeregye, Marseille, Paris, Berlin, Lugo, Copenhagen, Istanbul, Cluj, Zurich, Leeuwarden, Eleusis, Oulu, Lisbon, Dublin & Derry/Donegal.

Madame Vera Verity a Női Szépség Rovat vezetője volt a Princess Novelette folyóiratban, s ilyen minőségében joggal hivatkozik rá Joyce az Ulysses-ben. Egyébként neki volt egy kései és elég távoli, magyarországi - Vas megyei - rokona, özv. Dr. Verity Béláné. Kevésbé ismert, hogy ő találta ki az 1989-es gyanógeregyei Bloomsday-t, mely Pannóniában minden továbbinak az ötletadója volt. Ennek tükrében igen nagy öröm, hogy az EU Ulysses European Odyssey 2022-2024 /UEO/ elnevezésű projektjében Magyarországot ez a pici, de a 'bloomság' szempontjából különösen nagy jelentőségű, nyugat-dunántúli kisközség képviseli. Az UEO egy 2022 és 2024 között megvalósuló nagy, európai közös munka, amely egyidejűleg 16 ország 18 településén zajlik, és publikus tereken művészi válaszokat ad az Ulysses 18 fejezetében meghatározott társadalmi és kulturális témákra. Ezzel párhuzamosan a 18 helyszínen nyilvános szimpóziumot tartanak, amelynek keretében /az Ulysses 17. fejezetére utalva/ összesen 309 kérdést tesznek fel egy új európai művészeti és társadalmi charta megalkotása érdekében. A projektben részt velő művészek aktivitásukkal hozzájárulnak egy új könyv elkészítéséhez /munkacím: Európa-Ulysses/. Az UEO projektet 18 partnerből álló, új, európai hálózat alkotja.
