If you're on Twitter/X, you may have noticed a sudden stream of high-profile accounts heading for the exits. And no, it's not (just) about the election.
This exodus is thanks to a new Terms of Service document, which takes effect on November 15. Although the company isn't talking about it, the new ToS gives owner Elon Musk the right to use your tweets, photos and videos to train his AI bot, Grok.
The option to opt out of Grok training, something users currently have, may still exist in your settings the following day. But it also may not matter, legally speaking. Nothing about opting out is mentioned in the document you are required to sign. And it doesn't appear to make a difference if your account is locked: So far as this ToS is concerned, Grok gets to feed on it anyway.
Oh yes, and following free speech is no longer free. You'll be on the hook for $15,000 in damages if your account accesses more than a million tweets a day. Not even the hardest of hardcore Twitter junkies will reach that number, but many researchers do. For anyone who tracks hate speech on X, this will have a chilling effect. The Knight Institute for the First Amendment at Columbia University calls it a "disturbing move" for a supposed free-speech advocate.
Disagree with anything in this document, or any other changes going forward? According to the ToS, your only legal recourse is to fight the world's richest man in one court in rural Texas, many miles from X HQ in Austin. This happens to be a court where a judge who may still own a pile of Tesla stock has already given Musk favorable rulings.
Don't want Elon Musk to feed your feed to his pet AI? There is, alas, only one way out of it now: delete your account.

We should all ask ourselves whether we can live our lives differently.

We should all ask ourselves whether we can live our lives differently.
We give up power by using technology that wants nothing more than to distance us from each other, and this technology wants to make us even more dependent on it.
We don't use this application to connect with each other, but to keep us in our bubble of perception and to generate money from our data.
Tumblr media
The gif is not right, it is their behaviour towards liberal society, which is based on equality, fraternity and freedom.
We should stay on the applications for as long as possible to generate money for the owners of the applications. Why should we waste our lives without real experiences, or building bonds and trust in the community?
The user is a consumer without really getting any kind of benefit in return if they don't buy something, see an advert or subscribe to something for money.
Nothing can be compared to real life, not even the best-conceived multiverse.
Algorithms always have a specific purpose, and it really has nothing to do with a better world for everyone.
They are business models for making money, preferably unregulated and without limit.
In order to generate power and influence, societies are destroyed by the erosion of solidarity.
Tumblr media
Block all social media that is, quite frankly, anti-social, anti-freedom and full of hate, which uses your data to classify you in order to discriminate or discredit you.
Block to win!

Then turn off the light for all the unnecessary applications. Facebook, X, Instagram, PayPal, Amazon, Tesla and co. Just delete them. There are social media and other payment systems. Just buy locally, it generates prosperity in the community.
We don't have to make the high-tech oligarchs even richer, we just have to show them our power as consumers.
They are not beneficial to society, but are dangerous for any liberal social order.

When are fellow progressives still on Twitter going to do the bare fucking minimum and stop using it if it's not essential for their livelihood? A Nazi is trying to dismantle the US government and people keep giving him advertising money because they don't want to "punish" innocent users. Guess what: there are Russians and Israelis against their country's policies too, but none of the progressives I heard from did a "but what about" when they (rightly) boycotted stuff from those countries.
My grandfather "retired" from his government job rather than give an oath to the fascist party in Portugal and ended up going into massive debt, and yet people can't bear to go without their Twitter fanart.
It's utterly emotionally draining and infuriating.

Despite his LIES that Twitter would be bot free, a bastion of free speech for “both sides”, and other fake promises, Elon musk has turned the hellsite into a deeper hellsite.
he supports the racist pos dumOld turnip, jumping up and down like an idiot.

Elon Musk has amplified a theory that only "alpha males" can be trusted to make good decisions, and should therefore be the only ones to participate in democracy.

Detoxifying myself from Twitter/X was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. The day I abandoned my account was when I found peace in my soul 😮‍💨

Delete the Nazi App :>
I forgot I made an X account and promptly deleted it. I'm encouraging everyone else to as well. I don't like social media in general so I never really used it so it's really no skin off my nose. But yeah if you follow what you preach delete the shit.

@bitterrfruit art gave me this idea
Simon Riley with a "Do Not Resuscitate" tattoo across his chest, big and in bold, who put it there in hopes that it would be followed, though the tattoo holds no legal binding and unless you have a written DNR your doctors are required to ignore it
Simon Riley, who spent those years with the tattoo, thinking that no one would truly miss him, were the occasion to arise
Simon Riley, who gets a partner, becomes quite comfortable and content with said partner, to the point he's taking off his clothes.
Simon Riley, who doesn't even get to reach for his belt to finish changing when his partner gasps, and begins anxiously fretting over the tattoo, fingers tracing the bold letters, doe-like eyes staring into his damn soul and a lip worried between their teeth.
Simon Riley, who can't seem to close his eyes as his partner insists on clinging to him that night, their hand resting over his heart as it finally sinks in that he would be, in fact, missed were the occasion to arise.
Simon Riley anxiously googling how expensive and how much time a tattoo removal takes.

I find it funny when people say they deleted Twitter when all they did is just delete the app from their phone.
Nah, you gotta go full monty with it. Delete your account. I did after 15 years on there and don't regret it at all.
