Futurama Gets Season 9 Renewal At Disney Streaming Services

Disney Streaming Services has renewed the recently defrosted adult animated series Futurama, which hails from 20th Television Animation, for a ninth season (branded on streaming as Season 13 and Season 14), an additional 20 episodes.

The House of Mouse revived series in 2022 with a 8 season order which consist of 20-episodes, Season 8A premiered on Hulu,Disney+,Star+ on July 24, and was on Nielsen’s Top 10 originals series list for six week.

The second half of the season will debut on 2024, on streaming the season is branded as Season 11 and Season 12.

I answered this one here, but I thought of another one! I very much like it when the boys are tender and gentle with each other (as evidenced by the above series). But if that tenderness veers too far into mushiness, I may have to leave. Excessive "I love you's" probably fall into that category...which makes me sound like a jerk, because I know that makes a lot of people very happy to read.

❄️ my dream theme/plot for a fic, and who would write it best

I have been longing for a fic in which Steve gets defrosted in 2003 and has to grapple with cynical reinterpretations of his legacy in the 21st century, namely that Bucky has been erased. It’s a rough year to be an American who questions American policy (or extreme patriotism) and the powers that be decidedly do not want him around…in possibly dangerous ways?? *dun dun dunnn*

This is very much inspired by all the very weird revisions Disney has been making over the last few years to Steve's story. So in this universe, the intelligence community has known about the winter soldier—and that he was Bucky—since the 80s (an actual thing that happened on What If?!?) which does not reflect super great on anyone. Including Captain America by association. So it’s easier to wipe him…from the history books. (I’m so sorry.)

This is mostly the ravings of a madwoman premise and no plot, and I have no idea who should write it, but I'd really, really, really like to read it.

What’s your pitch for a stand alone Gargoyles TimeDancer movie? Like, if you worked at Disney and let’s say, hypothetically, Gargoyles was back and kicking for a revival season and it became such a smash they wanted more, and then the TimeDancer series gets announced and your hired for a major film that’ll kickstart the show on Disney+. What would be your idea, and how would you execute that? And before we bring up the comics, they’re not canon anymore for this What If? scenario.

Anyway. So if we’re saying the comics aren’t cannon, I would probably do a similar set up to the original but explain it by saying the Phoenix is an ACTUAL Phoenix that was trapped inside the talisman that became the Phoenix gate. When it was thrown into the time stream the talisman eventually corroded and the Phoenix was able to break free.

I actually have this headcannon that the Phoenix was drawn to Brooklyn because he has some kind of dormant magical abilities. The longer he travels with the Phoenix the more his powers come to light.

But back to the movie idea, I actually really like the story that is in the comics so I would probably keep it as the plot of the movie. Assuming an accompanying series was made, I would delve into the psychological and physical trauma Brooklyn HAD to have gone through (we just haven’t seen it yet in the cannon series). There would be stories to tell along with the new scars he recieved as well as wrangling with his new found powers (I like to imagine he has fire powers cause fire is volatile and unpredictable, but strong and powerful like his character).

Through his travels he will meet with Demona on a few more occasions, eventually learning how to forgive her after seeing some of what she did indeed go through (not justifying what she’s done, but rather explaining how she became so hard and jaded to the world). However, he never fully trusts her but if, perhaps, down the line she gets a redemption arc, maybe he would be one of the ones more willing to believe she can change as he did work with her to fight a war (to the surprise of everyone).

However, as much as I LOVE Katana and Nash, I don’t know if I’d include a love arc for him or not. I think it would depend on how the story unfolded. If I DID include her, I would bring her in for like season three or four? Not right away is the big thing here. I would have her “defrost” Brooklyn a little because, perhaps, he has seen his fair share of horrors already and is on the verge of giving up hope that he’ll ever make it home. Okay yeah, now typing this all out I would include her because she would become his rock and moral compass, keeping him grounded and helping him to still be able to see the good in the world.

There would be a few times when his time dancing crossed his own timeline and he would have to do lots of ninja moves to stay away from his clan (and subsequently himself) as he doesn’t want to risk something happening to his timeline if one of them see him. Even though Goliath and Demona have said the past is immutable, he’s not going to take any chances.

Oooooo. I’d also make Griff a reoccurring character cause he needs more love and I think the two of them would work really well together based on their one interaction in the episode Kingdom. Griff has to keep secret all his interactions with Brooklyn, again to prevent anything happening to the timeline.

I would also make his absence FAR longer away from his “current time”. I’m thinking a few years. His clan doesn’t know if they’ll ever see him again just like Angela said in the comics. But maybe it’s more like 40 months vs 40 seconds (I’d keep the 40 connection cause I like the metophor).

Dimension travel is something else I would add to the story. Maybe he meets an alternate version of himself at some point? Maybe he gets transported to a dimension where gargoyles don’t exist? Or one where gargoyles are the dominant species/accepted in the human world? I feel like this scenario in particular could be very angsty because Brooklyn could have to choose if he stays in a world where he’s accepted, or keep trying to return to his family. Maybe that’s how I’d end the series. Brooklyn has to decide if he stays somewhere where life is objectively ‘easy’ (the grass is greener and all that) or risk traveling for who knows how much longer.

Coffee Shop AU

Most first dates, or meet-ups as I like to call them (especially with a stranger), that I've gone to have involved lunch or coffee at a local cafe. Thankfully, in the city of Sydney, there are plenty of cafes (of varying quality) one can visit. And all of them come with a decent brunch menu (though some will close by 2:30 or 3 PM at the latest). Enter Edition Roasters. While it has a few branches in and around the CBD (Australian shorthand for Central Business District), my date and I picked the one in Darling Quater.

But I've jumped forward to our date and failed to introduce the person behind it all!

Although I've gone on a date before with a woman, Eivor, which didn't end up as well as I had hoped, I wasn't quite willing to quite throw in the towel. After all, how many dates have I gone with men? And while the men in my life have failed to make my heart flutter, who was to say I wasn't an asexual lesbian?

Especially with the so-called 'squishes'/ brief flirtations of attraction I've had with a few women I've met over the years? THough now that I think on it, do fictional men count in terms of romantic attraction? Am I still clutching at straws?

No, I couldn't yet label myself as aromantic just yet!

I mean, Dikottir isn't bad! It's just...I don't feel a sense of romantic attraction to him. Even though we've gone on five dates and have technically 'known' each other for a year now.

Alas, I have once more been distracted. Where was I? Ah yes, my so-called 'date.' So, yes, this trip out to Edition Roasters was my second meet-up with a woman.

From the very start on Hinge, we struck up a conversation on musicals including one that has yet to grace the stage - Epic: The Troy Saga by Jorge Rivera-Herrans. As a frequenter of Tiktok, she had heard the songs being performed whilst I had the good fortune for my Spotify shuffle list to insert a few of the songs whenever I chose to listen to songs from musicals.

Though not a frequent replier, we were both able to share our passion for musicals and also touched a little on their second passion: fanfiction. Given the obsession of my fellow classmates back in Year 8 and 9 for all things anime, and to stretch our writing skills, I was no stranger to fanfiction.

Back in my heyday, I used to frequent ones for Kingdom Hearts, Naruto, Shugo Chara! Even now, trying to ween myself off fanfiction, I still can't quite kick the bucket as I continue to lurk among the Harry Potter fandom, while occasionally experimenting with Far Cry 5 (yes, I'm a gosh darn sinner), She-Ra and a host of Disney ones as well.

It was because of her heartfelt passion for Epic, and how we did initially chat about mythology, that I've given my date the code name: Athena. Unlike Eivor before her, she was keen to arrange a meet-up sooner rather than later. So, after some discussion - with a variety of choice between multiple places to eat at - we finally settled on Darling Square.

I was the first to arrive. Shivering in the cold Australian winter, I put my name down on the paper sheet out front and waited for our number to be called out. Athena joined me shortly afterwards and we chatted a little about our week and our lives. Before too long, our number was called and we were directed to a table out in the wind (perhaps not the best choice but given how busy the place was, it made nabbing a table easier). Despite not having much sun, there was a heater purposely positioned close by to offer some warmth. Although, if I'm being honest, it was the hot chocolate I ordered, more than anything else, which served to defrost me.

Then it was time for the main meal. Athena ordered a miso salmon ochazuke after crunching the numbers on online reviews regarding the cafe's signature dishes, while I settled for a miso wagyu bolognese. As we ate, we talked a little of the work we did, our family composition, and the reason why we were dating. We even reminisced on many a bad date we've had - with her recounting one where the man hailed Hitler.

And though this is the second time someone I know has gone on a date with a seeming Nazi sympathiser, it's a bit strange that it's happened twice. I honestly have to wonder if they went on the date with the same man.

After lunch, we walked around Darling Harbour before heading up towards Town Hall station. It was, in my eyes, a wonderful day out. While I wouldn't have called it love at first sight, I certainly didn't feel as intimidated as my meet-up with Eivor at the ice-rink. Nor did I feel like Athena fail to meet the expectations I'd set up in my head.

I wouldn't say we clicked immediately but it definitely felt like we had a strong connection and understanding of the other.

Now, I wouldn't call that love but I'd say it went far more swimmingly than I'd feared. Yes, I was probably still putting up a front, but I didn't feel either one of us dominated the conversation. It flowed well, like having a good deep and meaningful natter with a good friend (rather than an acquaintance).

Is this a good sign?

But Athena did say to hit her up for another outing.

The only problem, of course, is that I'm not so much a foodie as someone who simply tags along and enjoys the food on offer (as long as it's not spicy). Does make me wonder if the two are related, though...

Are all asexuals bad with spice? Or is it just me with a low tolerance for both? Probably just me. And the smut fanfictions I read simply represents my ability to enjoy wasabi (to a degree). It's not the perfect analogy but I'll have to make do. This is, after all, coming down from spending an entire Saturday out and about at the Sydney Manga and Anime Show (SMASH!) and then finishing off all the chores I needed to do in preparation for the week ahead.

Give a 31, who will be 32 when this post goes up, woman a break! It ain't easy trying to juggle care for an elderly grandparent, work, hobbies, dating and what else when it comes to the adulting life. It's not like there's a manual!

1. What do you have under your bed?

Boxes of winter clothes! Which rn I’ll have to switch out and put the summer clothes in instead.

2. Favorite candy? (be very specific if possible)

Candy candy I like these heart shaped lollipops that I got from the Tiger store (they sell a lot of stuff including house stuff, art supplies, craft supplies, decorations, etc.) that are raspberry flavored. If I can include chocolate then it’s all about the Reeses peanut butter cups yall.

3. Describe your favorite shirt:

I have a few! My favorite shirts/sweaters are:

A dark blue long tshirt that says “L'océan Pacifique” that I got YEAARSSSS ago from Lidl(its similar to Aldi). I like it cause it’s just long enough to be worn as a kind of very short dress, and it helps with my fear of my shirts lifting/ridding up without me noticing, since this one is so long i dont have that problem, and the material is also super soft!

A black tshirt with a funky yellow moon design on it. Again the fabric is really nice and it’s just really comfy for me.

My college hoodie, it’s black and SOOOOO SOFT on the inside. It has a really funky cartoon on the front, it kinda looks like a fish? and its yellow. The hoodies were supposed to be purple cause our class colors were yellow and purple but the purple hoodies would be too expensive so we just went with black. It’s so comfy and it has my nickname on the back. Funnily enough it also says 2021-2022 on the back because thats the year it was printed, and it was also the last year I spent at that school!

this super comfy and adorable sweater that is fuzzy on the inside, its  blue and has a cute ice and fire bears design on the front and its just so cute. Sadly it’s from a very controversial and terrible brand/seller, but I bought it long before I knew about the problems.

This very long sweater that has a bunch of Disney villains on the front. It’s grey and long and although the fabric is kinda rough on the inside I still love it and think it’s so cool. I got it years ago and in my first year of college I wore it to my animation class and my teacher look at me, chuckled, and said “The shirts animation students wear..” in an amused way, like it made him happy, and I was very happy about that. That teacher was awesome.

5. Are you completely sober rn?

Yes but I have been very drunk before! And it was super fun! A lot of sangria and exactly 1 shot. That shot made my snot turn blue which I didn’t know could happen!!! The shot was also blue btw. But honestly I just love sangria so much. And wine. It’s so good

6. What's the one thing that annoys you more than anything?

Being treated like I’m stupid and people that make anything into a joke. I have a very dear friend of mine that makes jokes about everything and anything and almost never takes anything 100% seriously and sometimes it really pisses me off, but I understand they don’t mean any harm, that’s just how they are, but it still gets on my nerves sometimes when I think back to interactions I’ve had with them. But again, they are a very dear friend of mine and I hold no resentment towards them in particular.

7. Have you ever gotten you tongue stuck to a cold pole during winter?

Nope, poles are gross! And I’m pretty sure that getting your tongue stuck on a frozen pole is an american thing. 

8. If you could be anywhere in the world right now, where would it be?

;-; I want to be with my baby (bf). I want to hold him and cuddle with him and have comfy movie sessions. We’re a long distance couple.

9. What was the single last word you spoke?

Probably ‘Okay’ ? I was asking my mom if she needed me to defrost anything for dinner and she said no, so I probably says ‘okay’ after that and walked away.

yeah yeah sure george is beautiful and desired but that's not belle's main character struggle! her main character struggle is she's MISUNDERSTOOD and that carries so well over to dream like the townspeople see belle as weird strange and defiant and they don't like it and want her to just shut up and go with things as they are as a woman in rural france but imagine if instead it was dream experimenting with his self expression taking up hobbies in crafts or in gardening as a parallel to belle reading (often a thing men did) and being softer and overall similar to belle in personality: independent, fierce, but soft and gentle at the same time and it's seen as different by the townspeople just like belle was

PLUS dreamie is beautiful come on mans has a disney princess face

and beast can be reactionary and aggressive but that's not the main issue he has the main issue is he's ISOLATORY he's scared and locked up because he's been changed for how vain he was and he stays by himself always and it slowly drives him mad and his natural beauty is hidden because of his curse until he has someone defiant enough to counter him but kind enough to go with his emotions as needed to let him slowly open up and defrost and grow and his life changes because he lives with belle and his purgatory of a castle becomes lively again because of belle just like how george living with dream has softened him and broke his cycle of isolation and waiting. yes george isn't as reactionary but I think if he were forced to wait many more years with nobody then he would become grouchier ruder and more cruel even if he didn't want to. but it's about the slow defrosting and dismantling of walls after living with someone who helps you and pushes you enough to become your best self DO YOU SEE WHAT I MEAN

Elsie's Shortcake

My Grandmother was a rockstar. There were so many legends of her that included things like “that time she went hunting alligators”. She was known for giving out full-size candy bars on Halloween. She was famous for her fudge recipe, which she was never satisfied with. She made history with my siblings and me when we learned about the time she served strawberry shortcake for dinner and dinner was dessert. Fun fact: she buttered the shortcake. It slowly came out, as we grew up, that dinner was served second so there was more of a chance of leftovers and an opportunity to get another meal out of the main dish. It was essentially an economic move but all we knew was that dessert was first. Strawberry shortcake was served for dinner. A rockstar move. The recipe for strawberry shortcake is almost in the name. You have some strawberries and shortcake (also, always whipped cream). Its beauty is in its simplicity. It’s the simple recipes that invite the most confident alterations. Begin by switching up the fruit and playing with the shortcakes.

“Strawberry Shortcake” Shortcake Serves 6

2 cups all-purpose flour 3 Tablespoons granulated sugar 2 ½ teaspoons baking powder ½ teaspoon salt 1 ½ cup heavy cream

Adjust the oven rack to the upper-middle position and heat the oven to 450°F. Lightly spray a baking sheet with nonstick cooking spray. Whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt in a medium bowl. Stir in the heavy cream until a dough forms, about 30 seconds. It will be a little rough and a little shaggy (It might look a bit messy). Empty the dough onto a floured surface and knead it into a smooth ball. This should take about 30 seconds. Pat the dough into a 1.5-inch thick circle. Cut biscuits using a 2.5 -inch to 3-inch biscuit cutter and place them on the prepared baking sheet. Pat out dough scraps into a 1.5-inch thick circle and cut again. Bake for 13-15 minutes, or until the biscuits are golden brown. Transfer biscuits to a wire rack to cool. Cut biscuits in half and serve with whipped cream and berries. Homemade whipped cream is good but Redi whip is completely acceptable.

For Traditional Strawberry Shortcakes 1 pint of strawberries 2 tablespoons of sugar.

Hull the strawberries (cut out or cut off the green part of the strawberry) and then cut them into quarters. Place them in a bowl and sprinkle with sugar. Toss them well and let them sit for 30 minutes to 2 hours. The sugar will draw out some juice that will soak into the shortcakes.

Start to sing the Disney song “A Whole New World” and play with this dessert. Swap out any fruit. Blueberries, Raspberries, Blackberries, or Diced Peaches. Sprinkle them all with sugar the same way you would with strawberries. Make this a little grown-up by adding 3 tablespoons of any liquor on top of your fruit. You could go as simple as bourbon or dark rum but you could get fancy with your flavors and look at Amaretto or Lemoncello. Sometimes defrosted frozen fruit works well like cherries (my favorite). You may have to drain some of the juice away after defrosting before adding the sugar step so it’s not too wet. Jam and Curd! In a pinch, a lovely jam will work to replace the fruit or you can spread a nice layer of curd with your fruit. Play with your shortcakes by swapping out ½ cup of flour for ground almonds or walnuts and putting a teaspoon of Almond Extract into your dough. Swap out ½ cup of your white flour for whole wheat to give deeper flavor. 1 tablespoon of chopped fresh thyme added to the dough will give an air of sophistication. The will be a slight vegetal flavor that enhances the fruit. Give a little crunch everywhere. Sprinkle with any kind of nuts or even pumpkin seeds. Make it for breakfast and replace whipped cream with plain yogurt and some honey.

Shortcake as Buffet I onced catered a party where there was a Shortcake Buffet. Bowls of assorted diced fruit. Canisters of whipped cream. Platters of split shortcakes. This amazed the guests. It was something they couldn’t even comprehend and it was so easy. I highly recommend giving this a try.

Just because it’s called strawberry shortcake doesn’t mean that’s exactly what it has to “be”. Take this classic dessert, twist it, and make it into something you are famous for.
