First and foremost, I am a huge consumer of fictional media: I read, watch, and am (more or less actively) involved in a ton of fandoms. That said, I'll mention the ones I return to most often, even without being prompted by fandom content like edits, fics, fanart, and so on.

Here's my top media [the order is random] :

Harry Potter with a special mention to the Marauders era, because I've completely lost mind and soul to that fandom [I’ve even cosplayed Remus a couple of times]. I’ve also read most of Rick Riordan's sagas, although I grew up with Harry Potter, so I suppose that's the one I’m most emotionally attached to [despite my deep-rooted disagreement with and disgust for J.K. Rowling's opinions]. To this day, I think it’s the fandom I’ve read the most fanfiction of

Tolkien: anything that wonderful human being wrote. The Lord of the Rings, The Hobbit, The Silmarillion, other Middle-earth tales. I’ve watched the movies an infinite number of times [yes, I am that nerd]. I may or may not also own a replica of Aragorn's sword.

Anything Sherlock Holmes. I’ve watched the BBC series, old movies, read the books—basically anything I could get my hands on.

MXTX novels. I started with The Untamed and completely lost it (specifically my dignity, given this endless list of fandoms). I’ve read the novels, manhua, and watched the donghua of MDZS, SVSSS, and TGCF—with MDZS undoubtedly being my favorite. I’m currently planning a Lan Wangji cosplay. Other honorable mentions along these lines: 2ha and Word of Honor.

Genshin. I play video games often, but Genshin is one of the few I’ve played consistently over the years. I also love the characters and the story. That said, I don’t agree with some of the company’s policies, but the fandom-generated content is often of amazing quality and is what keeps me attached to it.

Marvel and DC universes. I know some people might kill me for grouping them together, but I’ve followed both, especially back in high school. I’ve seen almost every Marvel movie, while with DC, it’s mostly been Batman and animation. Gotham is one of my absolute favorite shows [don't get me started on Batman villains]. For Marvel, Loki and Spider-Man are def my top picks.

Studio Ghibli. I watch a lot of anime [of course, duh], and I’ve cosplayed a few characters [not as many as I’d like, I admit]. But I’ve always had a strong emotional attachment to Ghibli movies. They’re still one of the few things that help me calm down when I’m anxious or stressed [which, sadly, happens often]. I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve rewatched them.

Japanese BL dramas—I’ve watched a lot, as well as some Korean and Thai ones, but the ones I’ve rewatched the most have always been Japanese (not sure why that is), but I’ve enjoyed and would rewatch many of them. If I had to name the ones I’m most fond of, they’d be Cherry Magic, Kieta Hatsukoi, Utsukushii Kare, Absolute BL, and Bokura no Shokutaku.

TMA. I got into The Magnus Archives fairly recently compared to everything else. That’s mainly because I wasn’t used to listening to podcasts before TMA, I only stumbled upon it because of a TikTok audio. Also, I love anything horror. I fell in love with the story, how carefully it was constructed, and the characters.

Cinema [yes, I know it’s a very broad category]. I’m a cinematophile. I’ve watched a ton of movies—old ones, really old ones, every type and genre. Photography is one of my passions, so that made me a fan of cinema as well. I love the technical side, the history [I chose cinema history as an elective], and everything that comes with it. There are so many movies I love and consider masterpieces, but if I had to name a few I'm particularly attached to, it would be Call Me By Your Name, the Indiana Jones saga, and any Wes Anderson film.

I know you told me 10, but I'm sorry and hopeless. Anything Dark Academia coded: The Secret History, If We Were Villains, Dead Poets Society, The Goldfinch, Maurice, Dorian Gray, The Dreamers and so on

I picked the ones I’m most emotionally attached to, either because I’ve followed them since I was a kid or they helped me through tough times. There are so many more I didn’t mention, like Good Omens or The Witcher, and many webtoons, and anime which I’m just as into, but they didn’t make it to the list.

My top 10 characters:

Remus Lupin and Regulus Black [I have no words to express how much I love and relate to these two]

Snufkin [I am him, he is me, we are]

Wei Wuxian [I would let the world burn for this man, tough, as you might have guessed, my character is more aligned with Lan Wangji's, so it comes with the personality ig]

Thranduil Oropherion [he's the elven king of wood and stone, and he's very loud and daddy about it]

Milo Thatch [he's (excitedly) into history, archaeology, and linguistics, and we both give the you-really-do-not-want-to-get-them-started nerd vibe.]

Jonathan Sims [if on a good day I'm Milo Thatch, on a bad one I'm Jon], also I love how in some fics he wears long skirts, paranormal fear avatars can't be bothered with gender norms.

Newt Scamander [I find him very relatable. His stress in social situations and preference for animals or plants got to me. Also, he's so passionate and caring, love a good example of healthy masculinity.]

Suguru Geto [nothing to say on this, I love this man]

Loki [look, I have an issue with dramatic, gender-defying villains AND mythology, it was inevitable]

Sun Jing from Tamen de Gushi [I wish I was as cool as her, I love her so much]

Generally speaking, I tend to like morally grey characters, villains with redemption arcs or byronic heroes with a complex history who, in the end, try to do the right thing, even at the expense of self-sacrifice. Not in a selfless "it's the right thing to do" hero-complex kind of way, but more in a "I think I'm worthless and expendable, at least I'll try to do something good," angst, hurt/comfort kinda way.

I made Mark Spidey because 1: I am Spidey's biggest fanboy and I will never apologize, 2: Spidey and Supes are the same character (I can elaborate but it's on you to ask), and 3: Spidey and Mark are both shining beacons of hope who are also bumbling idiots that go through the most horrific shit every day.

Yes I gave Remy a goatee in reference to Nikhil Clayton, Gambit's biggest fan/lookalike. Plus he's got a nice 'stache and I thought it'd look better than stubble (and def not to distract from Gambit's wack-ass hair I don't know how to draw and couldn't be bothered to try).

Also I am coming to the realization I could have made Mark into Rogue. It would have made more sense. Idk, she's Eve in this scenario and is just watching her husband get beaten up.

Also fun fact about me Hulk is one of my top 3 favorite non-Spidey Marvel characters. The MCU did him dirty (as well as some others I like [America Chavez]) but he has a lot of depth. Just look up the death of Johnny Storm to get an idea of the true Hulk. He's right up there under the Spideys with Ben Grimm for sure.

Also I only realized while drawing this that Amanda has a huge bulge in that first shot. I understand Zall so much now.

Everything I read in September + some rambles

Good month! Enigma/Tomodachi X Monster/Bags/Judge Bao/Name Of The Game were all thrift store finds and legit all of them were great? Enigma lived up to all the hype I read about it man and it honestly didn't feel like anything else I've read before (I haven't read much vertigo my bad). Tomo x Mon was a bit goofy but by the end of the book it introduces so many crazy ideas with the mon format I couldn't help but respect it? Chainsaw Man keeps being great and this past Pochita arc has been really good. I was a bit worried Fujimoto might have been getting 'tired' of it but these past few chapters have just been crazy good (the statue of liberty scene???). Immortal Iron Fist is dope as fuck but I need to get back to it soon. I'm always a huge sucker for a team up between 2 mantle bearers so the whole Danny/Orson duo has been a joy to read! Plas No More was probably my least favorite read of the month and it's not because it was bad or anything but a) I'm not a huge fan of the whole "comedic character is going through serious stuff" story and b) the way the JL was portrayed was odd and I don't even like the JL like that Damian is my fav Robin so The Boy Wonder was obviously peak 10/10 no notes mr Juni Ba please do this to my other favs at DC thank you king. Also I got my partner to read it too and they loved it just as much so it probably added to the book being a top 10 favorite for me! Ultimate X-Men keeps being a blast to read every issue. I feel a bit bad it seems most of the discourse around the line is centered around USM and maybe the Ultimates recently because this book feels so unique and the cast is always a joy to see. Ain't No Grave was wildly cool. I always knew Young for the stuff he did at marvel so I decided to try this on a whim and bro. Bro. That finale? Bro. Skybound Transformers has now made me a Cliffjumper and Beachcomber stan. I got an omnibus of the Fraction Hawkeye run last Black Friday I think? Either last year or the year before and I just now decided to read it through because of his work on Immortal Iron Fist and yeah it kinda reminds me of when I read both Spencer's Ant-Man and Superior Foes close to one another lol. But real shit? Fantastic book man. The gut punches hit so fucking hard it felt ridiculous going back to the comedy and somehow the book manages to handle those so well it's insane. The Kate subplot was so fucking funny why is Masque like that lmfao

I got really into My Chemical Romance this year and I was huh sure let's try Paranoid Garden and it's pretty good but I feel it will work way better for the trade? That said really excited to see how the mystery plays out. I've been meaning to read more manga beyond CSM so I decided to try out Ichi The Witch because I felt really bad for the artist after what happened with Act-Age and Kagurabachi because of all the memes. Ichi is pretty fun so far and I do really enjoy the protag's philosophy on hunting vs killing. I'm still in the "rougher" parts of Kagura but I can't say it's bad y'know? Like I def see those elements there that will make it better going on. I did a big Ant-Man binge read a few months ago and I thought hey why not try Sword Of Atom too? And it was a pleasant read! I think the 4 issue length puts it in a weird place where it doesn't have enough time to develop the world as much as I would have liked it to but it's short enough that the book ends up feeling like a sword and sorcery movie and that's pretty cool? Ngl tho the Atom I grew up with was Ryan so I'm gonna try the Simone run with him next! The Moon is Following Us/Minor Arcana/The Body Trade I read while on a train and yeah it made that whole ride a lot easier lmao. I think Moon was prob my favorite out of the 3 but that's more because of my love for the creative team behind it! Really hoping Lemire gets to go as long as he wants with Minor Arcana too

Giantkiller is another entry in my desperate search to feel the high I got from reading Simon Dark a few years ago (which so far has lead me to finding really great gems like Hourman/Scare Tactics/Chronos/New Super-Man) and yeah I think it's going to do the trick. My partner said the monster design felt like american cartoons and they were right 1000% as always. There's this weird element of playfullness to them I can't quite describe. I also like that the main duo is called Jack and Jill lmao Bags really feels like it shares a creator with Over the Garden Wall. I won't spoil it but there's a reveal later on the book that absolutely gave me flashbacks to the show. Might re-read it sometime with the soundtrack the original book got! Judge Bao was kinda goofy but in a funny way. Just real dudes just being guys literature right here. Sad the other volumes didn't get translated but I imagine a french comic about a historical figure in china going around solving cases with his team that also doesn't fit on your shelf was probably a hard sell. The Name of the Game was fantastic man. Eisner makes the heavy topics he deals with in the book feel so light that it made me kept reading and reading and reading every time I'd tell myself that's enough for now. He really was a master of the craft man

Well, I have a lot of them, but here’s a rough list (some really broke me but at the same time propelled me to write for angst):

Of Truth and Lies by Anake. [Hetalia fic, fem!Northern Italy x Spain] I read this when I was 13 or 14 (?) and it made me cry so much. I just love apparent the love was between the two characters yet they’re so caught up in the complications of it all, and how one person was so ready to give it all up, but allowed herself one last moment with her love to move on. It has no happy ending, and the songs used were so beautifully tragic.

Jaded. [Detective Conan fic, Hattori Heiji x Toyama Kazuha] This is a now-deleted work, and my heart will forever ache for it and it’s also one of my absolute favorites. Full of heartache and pain, especially with a twist I did not see coming, but the guy was so willing to help her recover and even chased after her when she moved to US.

Anything by @alkhale. I first read her Jack Frost fic, which then brought me to her profile and read her Magi fic, her Haikyuu fics, her DC fic, and then her BNHA fic. Oh, there’s also her JJK fic. I’m so in love with her writing style and how she still instills a troubled MC that everybody loves, yet is so oblivious to it all and is trying to make a new for herself.

Comet by katyastark/@quirkthot. [Boku no Hero Academia fic, Bakugou Katsuki x Midoriya Izuku]. This was my very first bakudeku fic that I found myself reading that I thoroughly enjoyed because it has everything - angst, most especially. She’s now one of my favorite fic writers (for bakudeku, at least) and I’ve been reading a lot of her works now because she’s amazing with whatever she writes.

Heartaches and Devotion by Lady Fuyuki [Fairy Tail fic, Gray Fullbuster x Juvia Lockser] I’m a big Gruvia stan, and they're my ship in Fairy Tail. What I love about this was that the writer used a trope and delivered it well. You can tell that two sides are trying to move on, but failed, and the only way they can move forward is by accepting each other.

Anything by Seeress. She mostly writes for BNHA, specializing in BakuDeku. She has a lot of angst fics (on ao3 and twitter) that are just so good. I really can’t name just one, because she really explores the complexities of love, the angst of it all, and the exploration of the characters.

Four Seasons of Loneliness by rydia. [Dragon Age fic, Alistair Theirin x Mage!Hero of Feraldan/Solana Amell] Um, I am yet to actually finish my Dragon Age: Origins ga,e, and I’ve already finished the last two games. Still, this is those ‘turn back time and change fate’ kinda fic that’s satisfying, because you can relieve the consequences of your actions and make your ‘what ifs’ change.

Swallow by @all1e23. [Marvel AU fic, Bucky Barnes x Reader] One of the cutest, beautiful, yet tragically beautiful fic I’ve read for MCU. Also, basically, anything Allie writes is golden. She also inspired me to post here on tumblr and continue writing!

Spider-Man series by @hey-marlie [Marvel fic, Peter Parker x Reader] Marley did an absolutely splendid job with this series. It’s very well-written and stays true to the source material, without ever losing its touch, especially with the reader. Reader’s role is very impactful to almost everyone around her, but Marley makes it a point to show really immerse and involve you as the reader. Also, I gotta respect her mad nerd skills for tossing a lot of references only comic fans will understand more than the movie fans of Marvel.

This is a very rough list of what I can recommend to you. But, they’ve all really helped me write my angst and are ones that really helped me write for angst. There’s a lot more fics I would love to recommend, but, again, this is a rough list and some I can name at the top of my head :D

I’m extremely picky with my fics. So as you can see in my list, they’re all angst - ranging from mild to heavy angst. What can I say? I’m a sucker for pain ;”D Also, exploring your emotions in these fics is very satisfying to me.

Not a lot of reader-insert, because I mostly read them for smut purposes. There’s a few angst, but nothing really comes to mind.

2. what is the one skill you would use to best describe yourself? ooooh hrm hmm hrmmmm 100% conceptualization. the line-drawing it does is def one of my skills and also art and stuff haha

8. what is your favorite line from the game? these r def in the top few! (plus i had saved images of them to easily port here) there are a few lines about dora that also make me feel insane, + "after life, death, after death life again; after the world the pale, after the pale the world again" + the monologue about marvel hill when harry is trying to figure out where he lives. is actually a work of art and makes me feel so fucking unhinged. a great high place; a place that is impossible to climb back up to.

16. wild pines vs. the débardeurs’ union – what do you think of the evrarts and who do you root for? the union- i'm a leftist and also i think it's definitely not intended to go through the game siding with wild pines (they're faceless, beyond joyce who is gorgeous and also cold and certainly not human the way the union members you meet are, at least to me). i honestly think the evrarts r rly compelling characters, esp if you follow their characters through the entire story, but they're also fatphobic caricatures and can be sort of painful to interact with because of that

17. what skill is the most fun/coolest/most interesting to set as your signature skill? honestly i haven't done more than one full playthrough so i can't pass much judgement on this but i am a huge sucker for disco elysium's worldbuilding and love playing encyclopedia

19. (as a treat for me) which character arc or piece of lore would you have wanted to be explored more in depths? i think part of de's charm is that it's often spartan with the information it gives out- it feels apparent that there is more information, but that it isn't available to the reader. this adds a lot to the game and i totally wouldn't change it HOWEVER i think fanworks don't jump on that enough. harrykim is rly fun but i think there needs to be wayyy more character pieces in the fandom. i have a soft spot for trant and soona, but the hardies, cuno, klaasje, dora, tommy le homme are also all BEGGING for fic about them i think

Yes! I love reading comments, and I try to respond to all of them I see. I’m not great at it on AO3, but for Tumblr and Wattpad I’m much more regular. I appreciate the people who read my work and leave notes, so I don’t want to leave them hanging!

6. A fic you’ve written with the angstiest ending?

Probably Grief. I literally had to take a break from writing angst after this fic, and I immediately posted the only spoiler I’ve ever given for my long fic on Wattpad, which is that I’m not killing Fred in that story. Angst definitely has an important place in fiction, but it’s not always my thing, especially in context like that.

7. Do you write crossovers?

HECK yes I write crossovers. I love crossovers. I write them less for Oneshots and stuff on here, but I’m in the middle of writing what’s going to be a five book Marvel/Harry Potter crossover series on Wattpad. Crossovers are my JAM.

8. Ever received hate on a fic?

Yup, unfortunately. On the bright side, Wattpad has a great delete comment feature for comments posted on your stories, and also a great mute feature for more extreme cases.

9. Do you write smut?

Nope

10. Have you ever had a fic stolen?

Unfortunately also yes! It was someone on Wattpad stealing Oneshots from here, and they took down the book thankfully. Apparently now there’s also something called teenfic.net doing the same thing? Sounds super sketch, and I’m currently trying to decide if I have the energy to try and deal with that at the start of my semester 🙄

Nope! I am literally amazed with how good some of my international readers are at English, y’all are SUPERHEROES for learning this as a second language 🙌🏼

I got super hyped about this idea for a Pietro Oneshot, but it came during kind of a writing slump for me, and now whenever I try to start it again I just have this mental block about it.

15. Writing strengths?

Dialogue, and I think I’m pretty good at creating/writing different characters.

16. Writing weaknesses?

I over complicate plots and second guessing myself, and sometimes I get a little lost on my descriptions.

17. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in a fic?

To each their own. I think it can quickly become a problem if it's a lot of dialogue that your readers need to understand, but it can def be done well too.

18. First fandom you wrote for?

Technically a Percy Jackson/Hunger Games crossover (like I said, crossovers are my JAM), but the first fandom I wrote a PUBLISHED fic for was Marvel (Saving Grant Ward for those of you who know it 😄)

19. What’s your favorite fic you’ve written so far?

Ugh this is such a hard question, frick, ok, I Am Burdened would probably have to take the title. It’s a Loki fic I wrote with an alternate version of what could’ve happened in the Battle of New York, and I’m really happy with how it turned out. 6. Do you respond to comments, why or why not? I do, but also I am bad at it so sometimes i take a really really long time, IDK what it is but it’s the same thing that makes it hard for me to do @ games like this. It’s just... hard to respond to stuff

7. What’s the fic you’ve written with the angstiest ending? I wanted to say “House Wife” but I think it might actually be “Home with no memories” cause that fic was a treat for me specifically <3

8. Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you’ve written? I LOVE crossovers!! Craziest I’ve Ever written is def “Awake in Time” where Dean’s car accidentally gains sentience because of accidental repeat interactions with the Doctor’s Tardis

9. Have you ever received hate on a fic? I can’t think of any, BUT There was someone who made a whole tumblr callout post for Dark Ages (A ship I more or less started) and that was fun

10. Do you write smut? if so what kind?  I don’t. I tend to delve in a different direction flat out sex is unappealing to me in my own writing cause I don’t really care to explore it, I tend to just kinda hand wave it.

I have to tell myself that... but I have an unposted wip that retells Spn as a roll swap between the brothers and Cas and Gabriel except they’re also genderswapped that I only ever wrote like one chapter for and prob wont ever acctually do anything with

17. What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic? I think, unless it’s small obvious terms of endearment or things that are common in the fandom specifically, it’s always best to just write the dialogue and then describe it as being spoken in a different language. Or if the POV char doesn’t understand it, say that. Like: He spoke a random language, probably russian but hell if ___ could tell. Or: Then she started speaking rapid-fire spanish, and despite ____’s high school lesson’s she was really only able to pick out a word or two and not much else.

My Top 20 HP Characters In Order (+ Explanations)

Remus Lupin: He’s all around an incredible human being that has went through so many things that would make any normal person bitter, but he is still kind and compassionate regardless. He helps Harry, comforts him, and fights by his side until the very end. And soft boy make my heart go whoo.

Sirius Black: He’s a badass that doesn’t give two shits what you think about him and will do whatever it takes to protect and care for the people he loves. Even after spending twelve years in Azkaban he was still a better man than half of the other characters could even dream of being. And I really just like a man in leather.

Regulus Black: This man would make me risk it all and I am not at all ashamed. He sacrificed his literal life in the attempt to stop —or at least delay— Voldemort, separated himself from his brother just to protect him, and carried the deatheater mark all on his own with absolutely no complaints. He’s a beautiful soul.

Minerva McGonagall: She is obviously just an iconic woman that will tolerate no bullshit from anyone at anytime and always has her students best interests at heart. She is a precious soul and I would die for her. And I really want her to offer me a biscuit.

Draco Malfoy: He did not get the redemption arc he deserved and I am still pissed about it. He fucked up along the way, yes, but even still he did everything in his power to try to do what little good that he could. He literally lied to his family about recognizing Harry and that says a lot by itself.

Cedric Diggory: This man chanced the fucking cup and gave his life just to help Harry’s smartass and if that doesn’t say enough about his character then I don’t know what will. He is by far one of the most selfless people in the entire franchise and did not deserve to die.

Fred Weasley: This man is one hell of a good prankster and an all around joy to be around. He literally lights up any room and always makes sure that his friends are smiling no matter what. Plus I think he’s kinda hot.

Marlene McKinnon: I mean do I even need to explain this? Marlene is a fucking angel and a lesbian icon and I have no choice but to love her. She gave her life to the order and didn’t show a single sign of weakness whatsoever.

Teddy Lupin: This little shit is a fucking fireball, punk rock (he gets it from Sirius), prank pulling, muffin baking, model of a man and no doubt has given Harry his fair share of heart attacks over the years. I would love to jam out to Def Leopard with him while we paint our nails.

Luna Lovegood: She is an angel that fell straight from heaven and that is a hill I will die on. She is the most beautiful person in the HP universe, and I don’t just mean on the outside. She always drops everything for someone in need and is never disrespectful and I love her.

James Potter: Jamie-boy has a heart of gold and did not deserve to be killed so brutally. The amount of love and compassion bottled up inside of this one human being is surreal and I can’t help but marvel at his sacrifices.

Ron Weasley: Let’s get one thing straight, I will not tolerate any hate toward Ron Weasley ever. Sure, he’s had moments where he was a total prick but so has everyone else. He cared so much for Harry and even stole his dad’s car to rescue him from his abusive family. He’s a damn good friend and completely underrated.

Scorpius Malfoy: Scorpius is a polite little godsend and deserves the fucking world. He is the polar opposite of his father except the part where they’re both hopelessly gay for a Potter and honestly just a precious human being. He definitely is the only thing that keeps Albus’ fiery temper in check and I love him for that.

Neville Longbottom: This innocent bean of a man slaughtered Nagini single handedly and if that doesn’t give enough explanation as to why I love him then I don’t know what will. He learned to roll with the punches and was never cruel to anyone.

Lily Evans: She saves her son’s life with just her love and I think that is fucking badass as hell. She made sure to put James Potter in his place and was always a best friend to Remus when he needed it most and fuck I love her.

Blaise Zabini: He’s mostly just on this list because I think he’s god level attractive. I also have a type for pompous dicks and at first encounter Blaise fits into that category pretty well, but I really do love his personality to be honest.

Peter Pettigrew: Yes, Peter is a backstabbing twat, we all know it, but I can’t help but love him. During his school years he definitely snuck food into the Gryffindor Commons just to make sure all the younger kids ate properly and you can’t change my mind.

Harry Potter: Harry is a sassy, sarcastic bitch and I absolutely love him for it. This boy faces death every year and just keeps coming back like it’s nothing more than a slap on the wrist?? Love it. And he’s also a chaotic disaster bi and that’s something him and I can relate on.

Seamus Finnigan: Seamus is really only on this list because when I was younger I used to be like, completely in love with him. Honestly now he’s only within the top twenty because he snogs Dean 24/7 and I’m not ashamed to admit that.

Severus Snape: Okay I fucking loathe Severus as a person, he’s an abuser and a coward, but as a character I love him. He is probably one of my most favorite villains (yes I classify him as a villain don’t come for me) and I refuse to accept his “you have your mother’s eyes” bullshit as a redemption arc. If Draco has to live with his burdens, you do too, Snivellus.

Who is the marvel artist u like, who can consistently hit art deadlines?

I don’t know anything about whether they hit deadlines, but here are some of my faves! Valerio Schiti. I didn’t know about him til S.W.O.R.D but wow I love his style! His character and costume designs are top notch, as is his ability to make wonderful expressions. Very very pleasing to look at, def art goals. Salavador Larocca. Possibly a controversial pic, but he drew X-Treme X-Men, the first X-Men graphic novel I picked up, and I’m always going to like for that. He draws my favorite version of Shaw.  Russell Dauterman does some great covers. I really dig Terry Dodson’s style. Just all around. Very eye-soothing, and I love how he draws hair especially. I have very. .  .mixed feelings on Jonboy Meyers and Chris Bachalo? I can never decide if I like them or not. I like a little anime influence, I learned to draw from anime originally (which I think is really obvious in my style, though I’d like to start moving away from it) but I feel like they go overboard with it, especially Meyers. IDK sometimes it’s appealing and sometimes it’s not. Like, I liked Meyers for GeNext, so maybe it’s just a matter of putting them on the right projects.  I definitely like Alti Firmansyah though, I think she does an anime influenced style in a Western comic book MUCH better than Meyers or Bachalo, and I find it a lot more fun and appealing. Come at me bros.  Another artist I’m divided on is Erica Henderson, of Unbeatable Squirrel Girl. She’s a very divisive artist in general. Most people either love her style or find it unbearably ugly, no in-between. I mostly really like it, but I can also see what the people who hate it are saying, and they def have a point about some stuff.  I also enjoy the classics---Cockrum’s X-Men, Byrne’s New Mutants, Davis’s Exalibur.  Finally, Frank Quitely. His style is very different from all the other ones, and I like it because I DON’T find it appealing? It’s ugly. It’s weird. It makes everyone look creepy, and lends itself far better to aliens and monsters than regular people. And all of these things made it PERFECT for his “New X-Men” series with Morrison, which was the first X-Men comic I started buying for myself monthly as a middle schooler. The dark, strange storylines were way different from the X-Men Evolution show I was familiar with, the characters were psychological messes and not nice people most of the time, and the grotesque art style just amped up all of the bizarre, unsettling stuff all the more. It was grotesque, and I was fascinated by it. I think Quitely should definitely be chosen very carefully for which projects you put him on, I don’t think drawing a regular superhero comic is a good fit for him, but for something like this it was a perfect match.

deimos alexios (assassin's creed) - feral child, and the last scene on the cliff and he cries and i’m like ok welcome to the pack

aristide le tellier (dragon age) - i really loved the idea of a fancy, perfect, princely boy who seems like sunshine incarnate but he’s filled with mud and darkness and captivity and f u c k

lucian hawke (dragon age) - my angsty boy who fights himself and others bc he doesn’t know how to just Be and he’s ruled by the chaos of his own morality and logic combined with grief and plagued by the fact that the world and him function on completely different languages and he’s not literate in it

enya lavellan (dragon age) - she’s such a soft, loving character compared to all the rest i have, but also a very sad, anxiety filled character, and it’s refreshing sometimes to have interactions where like. it’s just filled with love. if your character needs love and complete understanding, have enya. especially if you’re morally gray or doing something that gets totally fucked up. enya will stan you. she’s problematic

garrus vakarian (mass effect) - i didn’t play him until after being in mass effect for a while, he was one of those characters that i’m like idk i’ll try my hand at him, bc i first played a character who romanced him and wanted to do that relationship. but then i just wanted to play garrus himself, and i love his voice. his Conflict. and how his entire self esteem rests on his girlfriend missing one sniper shot on purpose

kaecus salvirius (mass effect) - he’s one of my few ocs, and he’s had a long and hard life where he fucked up his happiness really badly and he’s getting a second chance that he doesn’t really deserve, and he’s trying really hard to be deserving of it and do it right, while also sitting in a midlife depression about his life falling apart
