y'all here's some deep lore: when i was young my abusive father was VIOLENTLY racist and my best friends growing up weren't white so obviously i found out about this VERY early in life. he would taunt and yell slurs at me as early as six over mentioning specific music and having a black friend. (guess what he called me guys lmao)

so OBVIOUSLY when the st fandom went nuclear over billy hargrove being racist i was pretty confused, because I had just assumed his father was the racist one and he was just trying to keep lucas away from max to spare her and prevent a racist explosion in the household. it didn't really occur to me that billy could be the racist one 😭 I just figured HE PLAYED BASKETBALL FFS. HOW can he be racist and enjoy basketball in multi-racial california (even if san diego (or wherever he's from) is predominantly white) in the year 1984???? like.............

anyway, yes, I am a naive idiot, and my headcanon is billy hargrove isn't even radically racist or w/e, he's just a regular scumbag lmao

Soft follow-up to my Monumential post. We don’t know much about Lemuria and the Monumentials themselves, aside from the fact that Lemuria sank six thousand years prior to the show, and the Monumentials have been around for at least a little longer than that. Long enough that Lemuria already had more than one device to control them, and effectively enough that it seemed to be a somewhat militant thing. At least that’s what the intention was when the Benthos line tried to usurp Doreus.

But that’s all we know. There’s not much information about how long the Monumentials had been around, or what Lemuria was like in regard to the rest of the world. Which means it’s a whole entire sandbox for us six fans to play with. I’ve already talked about how I also like to imply that the Monumentials aren’t from this world, but I also like to play with Lemuria’s origins, the Nekton and Benthos’s families connection to one another, and all sorts of other stuff. Each AU I have tends to have slightly different origins or functions when it comes to Lemuria and the Monumentials lore, but I’ve built an entire background for the Monumentials and how they’re linked to Lemuria’s history.

I’m writing this because I’ve been revising and editing my Subnautica/The Deep story, and all the above is pretty important to the story itself, aside from a few tweaks to make it fit with the games lore

One thing that I'll always find funny is the scene in "The Future" where Sam is showed in deep lore-research mode and start scribbling numbers on the world-map table like so:

Dean even calls him "Beautiful Mind" so it seems like something super duper difficult (which, in a way, it is) and then...

basically he's found out *somewhere in Loreland* that Nephilim don't need 9 months to get to full term (but doesn't say how exactly they need but okay) so what's he doing? does he have a pregnancy wheel? does he know kelly kline's last period? he probably knows the conception date since radio angel gossiped about it and cas smashed 2 good cups of coffee + had a massive migraine because of it, but other than that? we don't know! but we see numbers and magically sam has come up with a date, "around may 18th". okay!

ouuu it would be so cool to see ellie’s POV. i wanna know what the heck’s she’s thinking😠 but seriously i LOVE reading fics from a character’s pov instead of the reader, they’re so interesting. i feel like it makes the story more fleshed out?? reading it from different povs. idk if that makes sense.

i so so so get that. i find it really interesting to read as well. i get hesitant to share bc ellie’s voice is incredibly specific in my head and i know people have such vastly different opinions of her lmao.

Are there any flaws in the story of Disco Elysium that you would change if you could?

honestly in terms of narrative and structure? no, not really!

i think a popular answer to this question would be to say "make them not be cops!" but that feels to me like something you'd say to try to absolve yourself of the "guilt" (or whatever you want to call it) of liking characters that are cops, because the fact that they're cops is an intentional and meaningful part of the narrative, not just a lazy or convenient character decision.

however i will say that i would definitely change the inherent racism in just... everything about seol. yes the isolas are not a 1-to-1 copy of earth continents/countries but many of them are meant to be strong representations, and seol- which is both an isola and a nation, somehow- is just, like, all of asia. so not only does *every asian country* just get thrown into the same basket, it also happens to be a racist-isolationist culture that's Mysterious and Fascist and Closed-Off and Hostile and Exotic etc etc. it feels like they couldn't be bothered to be even the tiniest bit more culturally aware in that regard, didn't feel like talking to any asian people about how to go about things, and just took the western view of north korea and threw "asia" into it and called it a day. it's a really disappointing thing to see in a game that seems otherwise aware of those kinds of issues.

I'm excited to announce that I have a contract to write a history textbook about the ancient willow that has been fading over off in Quartano Farms.

I've discovered a diary written about 85 years ago by a Quartano, back when the Old Families actually controlled the land. I'm surprised that it wasn't written on of those ancient Tabolzetziums [smart-tablets] that were popular at the time. Hopefully I'll find one of those old models. I wonder what people did with them.

I also found a treasure trove of old textbooks, but they are written in High TriBoka, so I'm doing my best to translate.
