Haladriel meta posts and accounts dedicated to that are fine, I love many of them here. Its when there’s this underlying need to take it upon yourself to declare what shippers can and cannot do or enjoy. We’re not in some cult. You don’t need to automatically exile someone if they don’t have what you perceive to be the “right” opinions. I mean, who are you to say that anyone who disagrees with your takes clearly doesn’t “get” galadriel because we maybe don’t hate a certain character everyone else wants to hate? It is not some sacrilege to multiship or to simply say, I don’t really care about x character, but I know other people in this group genuinely do and I’m not going to make them feel like shit about it or make generalized statements calling them fake shippers if they do so.

All of this to say, I find this all or nothing kind of approach to fandom extremely immature. Refusing to see others perspectives and making broad declarative statements about other ships or characters every other day is going to lead to perpetual misery. Constant ship wars is only going to lead to misery. If you want to do that sort of thing in your own spaces, that’s completely fine, but don’t be surprised when there are those here who don’t want to take part in that. And yeah, you’re going to get blocked lol

He ain't interested! While I can do para interactions up to and including full literate roleplay and have done so in the past, for now I want to keep things looser and am not particularly interested in doing threads until I feel the vibe out a bit more. i just wanted to share my first encounter with an ss hater and they're actually so funny, hating on fictional characters so much it becomes their anon identity, lol!

(it's just baffling that ppl go out of their way to comment their unaddressed frustrations 🤭)

It's also unfortunate how the anime vs manga portrayals of the og are significantly different in some areas that it created a world for all the misinformation and hate - specifically of course to Sakura Haruno. 😮‍💨

Yes indeed, the number of people who have entire accounts dedicated to hating certain ships is rather baffling.

not to once again bring twt discourse here but unfortunately i don’t have a dedicated anime account on there so here goes:

every time i see someone come up with a prompt along the lines of “would love to see Geto grovel for forgiveness from Gojo” a lot of people immediately start crying out about how that’s not canon compliant and how Gojo never held any of Geto’s actions against him and it kind of grates on me.

first of all: people are expressing that they want to see a certain dynamic for this ship in fan made works, just because it’s ooc or non canon compliant that doesn’t mean they don’t understand that that’s not the version portrayed in the source material

fanfiction (and stories of any kind tbh) is a medium a lot of people use to express/process/relate their own emotions and experience and a lot of people have been left behind by someone they held dear (be that a lover or a friend or a family member), so the want to see an “ideal” reconciliation where the person who left has to grovel and the people involved spend time talking about their feelings is pretty common

second of all: we can’t even say for sure that it’s canon divergent?!

a lot of people who balk at seeing this dynamic mentioned only talk about Geto’s crimes and i agree that Gojo was not particularly bothered by any of the objectively bad things Geto did (other than trying to kill Yuta but even that didn’t seem to affect Gojo’s feelings towards Geto, it just forced his hand in the end)

but there is a personal “betrayal” in Geto leaving him behind and not really explaining himself in a meaningful way in Shibuya, which is what most people who want fics/art of Geto having to work to rebuild the trust between them are thinking of, much more than any actual evil deeds

now, it is quite likely that Gojo blamed himself in canon, he does have a tendency of taking on all the burdens himself as an adult, and he does frame it as having to “catch up”, so he wouldn’t hold any grudges for that (at least not towards Geto, as opposed to the system that put them both in that situation).

Additionally, Gojo is not the most well adjusted, “looking inwards”, “treat yourself right” kind of individual so while he is hurt by Geto’s defection (hence him drastically changing behavior and it being his only complex) arguments could be made that he wouldn’t even be fully aware of that fact, like a lot of real people aren’t aware of how much something someone did affected them until years later (Gojo honey you need so much therapy for so many reasons, hope that airport has some good therapists for everyone)

Though he did also say that Geto “didn’t want to be saved” so maybe he did to some degree blame him for the fact that he didn’t open up to him when asked

in addition to those ramblings, we don’t really see a lot of post-defection interactions between the two of them under normal circumstances. The two times they really interact in an open fashion are a) while Geto is on his deathbed and b) in the airport/afterlife, neither are really situations where you would choose to bring up hurt feeling that need time and work to heal over. Geto, in his hair brushing scene with the twins seems to be whist fully regretting not talking to gojo after their “argument”

Gojo obviously didn’t resent Geto, he loved him beyond both their lifetimes, but i don’t think them running into trust/abandonment issues when trying to settle back into a “normal” routine and relationship in a long term way, or even Gojo keeping a distant front in an attempt to protect himself from further hurt (which he kind of does in their confrontation at the school in jjk0) during the very much also not canon secret meetings/AU where they both lived somehow is too dramatically out of character

tldr.: just because it’s not canon doesn’t mean it doesn’t make for fun fanworks, that’s what most fanworks ARE FOR, plus canon only gives us limited insight anyway so stop getting all up in arms over it

Whenever a female character is widely hated, put the blame on misogyny. However, a good chunk of fans of specific works (with certain exceptions) are teen girls and women. Is it a case of internalized misogyny, then?

Somewhat, yes, but it's also a matter of attraction.

A great deal of fandom is shipping, and people tend to be more drawn to ships that they are attracted to. No, it's not the be-all end-all, yes, you can love characters and ships that you don't find attractive and dislike ones that you do, but it adds a MASSIVE boost. You are more likely to consider ships when you find one or more of the characters attractive. You are less likely if you do not.

I'll use myself as an example.

I don't give a shit about m/m pairings unless they have strong canonical chemistry that appeals to me (or it's a REALLY well written fic) because I'm a lesbian. It is harder to make them appeal to me because I don't get the attraction boost. I will read Adamsapple fics (with a note that I am picky about characterization) because I find the dynamic compelling. I don't mind Huskerdust, but have never once sought it out. Alastor is the major ship-launcher in this fandom, but I have not and will not read any fics that dedicate a significant amount of time toward Alastor shipping (or read Alastor-centric fics in general) because I can't comprehend how people find him hot and I find what we saw of him in canon deeply boring, so there is absolutely no appeal. M/F is honestly largely the same. Constrastingly, although I obviously gravitate toward things I already ship, I will give almost any f/f ship a shot if the fic seems well written. (With another note that I am picky about characterization.) Why? Because there is additional appeal there to make me willing to give the author the time to convince me.

(This is without even getting into smut, and I don't think I need to explain the importance of attraction there. All of the M/M or M/F smut that I've written was as a gift to a friend or because the narrative demanded it. And guess what? The f/f I've written (on a burner account that ya'll will never see) was way better.)

The majority of fandom is women. The majority of women are attracted to men. So guess what? Attractive male characters and m/m pairings get most of the attention. And guess what else? Female characters often get in the way of m/m ships, which provokes hate. Especially around younger fans who might not be experienced enough with narratives to be able to get a female love interest out of the way without demonizing them.

If you want me to say that female characters just aren't as well-written as men, it's not going to happen. There are PLENTY of male characters who are flat as cardboard yet get tons of adoring fans and fandom doing the work to flesh them out to hell and back. Just look at Hux in the Star Wars fandom. There are plenty of extremely well-written female characters who are ignored in favor of the most prominent bland hot man. And yeah, it's because they're hot. And maybe it's a bit of misogyny too, but... from what I've seen, a lot of attention comes from attraction, and when it comes to female characters, much of the hate comes from ship wars that people don't want to admit are ship wars. Plain and simple.

TEAM & POINTS Your team will be picked at random Either Ghoul or Human When posting your art please post in the tags what team you are and the year example: #teamghoul24 or #teamhuman24 The team that draws the most wins!

Can you rate some bonnie ships

Sure! This is just based on my personal preference, combining what we got in canon and the potential Bonnie stans explore in fanon.

This is pretty long so I'll put a text breaker (or whatever that's called) here. If you wanted me to go in-depth for a certain ship, feel free to ask! I apologize in advance for any misspells, grammar mistakes or errors.

1. Stefonnie and Bonkai

I have a few posts dedicated to my love of Stefonnie, but I’ll say it again, out of all of Bonnie’s ships, they had some of the best foundations based on canon alone. Same with Bonkai. There easily could’ve been a smooth transition into a relationship for both ships.

Season 5 was the perfect time to set Stefonnie up instead we got the blandness that is Ste.roline due to how similar their arcs were up to that point and how the main conflict of that season affected them two the most out of the main cast.

Anyone with eyes could see that Bonkai had a similar setup to TVDUS “dark romance” ships like DE and KC. The whole “bad boy x good girl” trope combined with the “evil guy is willing to change to earn the heart of the morally rich girl” trope was very on brand for Julie and Bonkai did it in a way that, again in my opinion, subverted from the norm. Bonnie held Kai accountable in a way that Elena and Caroline simply didn’t when it came to their highly questionable boyfriends. On top of that, I loved how Kai brought out the more vengeful side of Bonnie that had been somewhat watered down in seasons 3-5. Bonkai had one thing that was missing from all of Bonnie’s canon ships; passion. Out of all of Bonnie’s ships, canon or otherwise, Bonkai had the most electric chemistry. You can feel the emotions from Kat and Chris through the screen and they played off each other so well.

2. Klonnie

Bonnies ship with the most wasted potential. Klaus and Bonnie had everything in place to be a well-done ship. Not only did Kat and Joseph have great chemistry, but they were the biggest captains of this ship when Klaus was just getting started in TVD. They individually had the most interesting lore of all the TVDU characters and given how intertwined the Mikaelsons and the Bennetts were, should’ve interacted far more times in canon. Klaus was said to always have a witch by his side but wouldn't want to seduce Bonnie into joining his team after nearly reaching the damn near impossible feat of killing him? As a "novice" witch at that!

Additionally, Bonnie would've THRIVED in The Originals. TO was a very witch-centric show with a lot of characters I would've loved seeing Bonnie interact with. No offense to Hayley, but there's no denying that Bonnie being Hope's mother would have made more sense than what canon gave us.

3. Bonora

If Julie and Co didn’t want Bonnie to date one of their precious fan-favorite white men, fine. Bonora was there and would’ve been such a nice ship for Bonnie. Kat had been advocating for Bonnie to be bisexual for a long time to no avail instead we got Fr.eelin which, no shade, is basically shein Bonora despite Kat having great chemistry with women as well as men. If you had put Nora in Enzo's place in the later 2 seasons of the show very little would’ve changed. In fact, Bonnie’s arc would’ve significantly improved.

4. Kennett

Kennett has somewhat slipped down my ranking due to how disgusting the actor who plays Kol is, but for the ship's sake let’s just imagine Daniel Sherman was the one to start off playing Kol, okay? Okay <3

Kol was said to have a love of witches very early on in the show. The most consistent thing about his character was how he stayed connected to magic despite no longer being able to practice it himself. Bonnie was undisputedly the most powerful witch he had ever come across. Why wasn’t he more interested in her? Bonnie was the one solving everyone’s magical issues as a 17-year-old self-trained witch. 5. Tonnie

I honestly don’t have much to say about Tonnie, but I do think they could’ve been fun in the later seasons. Julie said that her shitty alternative ending for Bonnie was her ending up with Matt and having children with him, which sucks ASS by the way, and while I had the idea of Bonnie getting an even more half-baked romance than she got with Jeremy and Enzo, I would've sucked it up if it were with Tyler. Bonnie and Tyler were childhood friends and should've gotten even closer when Elena and Matt started dating considering they were their best friends. I can definitely imagine Elena trying to force Bonnie on a double date with her, Matt, and Tyler.

While Forwood is one of my favorite canon TVDU ships, Tyler and Bonnie bonding early on over their supernatural heritage would've made a lot more sense given that witches and werewolves traditionally get along significantly better than either species do with vampires.

6. Bamon

If you had asked me this in 2020/21, Bamon would've topped my list. I don't by any means hate them, but I'm admittedly not as fond of them anymore. I feel like Bamon is most serious Bonnie stans first, and/or most beloved ship. And it makes sense! Bonnie and Damon had excellent chemistry, a large amount of focus on their relationship in season 6 and onward, and a lot of romantically coded scenes despite the writers' hopes of dissuading the fans. My biggest gripe with Bamon is that, like most dynamics including Damon, Damon benefits from having Bonnie in his life significantly more than Bonnie benefits from having Damon in her life. Additionally, given how they wrote Steroline in regards to Stelena, how Bamon would play out in canon in regards to Delena sounds like a nightmare to me.

7. Bonenzo

Bonenzo is Bonnie's best canon ship but lord knows that's not saying a lot. The ship felt as if the writers took bits and pieces from Bamon and Kennett/Kolvina and said "Here, damn!" in hopes to shut Bonnie fans up. I honestly wouldn't dislike them nearly as much if they were actually endgame. Enzo's presence was merely to give Bonnie a romance, and he didn't even fulfill the means that justified his existence.

Its a bit complicated, I don't know if it's two dedicated people or a group (definitely more than one) but there's more than just "ship war" but yes it does have to do with my shipping Jackrabbit.

Theres a certain subset of fans that think Bunnymund is abusive because of his words towards Jack in the beginning and the how he raises his fist after Easter. They consider the Jackrabbit ship to be excusing that abuse, the issue a lot of people have with me is that I think Bunny is fully justified in not liking Jack. Jack is an ASSHOLE, and I love him for it. Bunny is the character through which we learn about how Jack spent the past 300 years, CAUSING PROBLEMS. He isn't an unknown spirit the Guardians have never heard of, he has a reputation and history and a personal connection with one of them.

The second issue is they argue that Pitch is the "real" hero because fear "keeps kids alive" and the guardians don't bother solving real actual problems facing kids like poverty and abuse.

My discussions over the years about how the start of the movie establishes Jack as someone who causes mischief that other people are left to clean up, both in his interactions with the kids and how Bunny holds a grudge, illustrating that Jack being a bit careless and dismissive of others feelings for his own enjoyment doesn't make him a "bad" person who is incapable of changes. A perfect role model for so called "problem children" who act out to gain attention. I love Jack as a little bastard, writing him causing problems on purpose is my favorite thing. But it does mean I get on the wrong side of a lot of people who flatten his character into tragic fairytale sad-boy.

My discussions about Pitch as being a brilliant allegory for old-style parenting, the classing "do what I say or there will be consequences" and as a symbol of generational trauma due to his tragic backstory, and how cutting off your toxic or abusive family members will get a lot of sympathy for THEM because they are Sad and Lonely and Miss You. This did not go over well with a LOT of people.

Normally I would get a few rude messages, block them, and move on, but last year apparently one of my art peices, or one of the peices made for me it wasn't really clear but SOMETHING about the Stocking Stuffer event got me accused of using fandom celebrations as a way to Block Evade, which is when you use someone else's account or create a new blog to get past a person who blocked you and spy on or try to contact them.

The reason it got so bad last year was because during all the stress, medical, and financial issues I faced the past few years I really started leaning into my fandom to give myself a break and work through it, usually by doodling stupid art for polls and pausing the movie to draw bunny making weird faces to practice him. So I was a lot more active in the tag than I've ever been and as the fandom quieted down that meant my posts were always some of the first things to be seen in the tags, so I got a lot of attention.

Attention isn't a good thing when you are racebenfing the "ethereal white twink" of the fandom into a native trickster spirit. I was accused of being anti-white a lot.

There is I think only two people involved in this that are actually harassing me, with other people only showing up every now and then to voice their opinion in a way that feels hate-adjacent because it's the same old song and dance.

I just delete them and block the new accounts they make, but I deleted most of my art from the site and started drawing on paper and shredding it after to give myself some relief and remind myself i was drawing for myself and nothing other people.

I was very close to just deleting my whole blog and ao3, but there were some very good people in this fandom that helped draw my attention out of fanart and fanfic and focus my energy more towards archiving and collecting. So I made the blog @yetitakinginventory to create a collectors catalog.
