Had to share this life hack my mom taught me.
When you're moving (or just wanting to move your furniture), measure your rooms and furniture. Then get yourself some grid paper, draw your rooms to scale, and then cut out pieces for your furniture. It's much easier to move around bits of paper over and over than full size couches and beds to figure out where they'll fit.
Once you're happy with the layout, tape down the pieces. On moving day, you'll know exactly where everything will go, and that it will fit the first time. It's low tech, but it works.
PS: We made little pop-up book foldables for the recliners, so we'd know how much room they'd need to recline, which made us feel pretty smart.
#moving#packing#rearranging furniture#interior design#low tech solutions#life hacks#tips and tricks#advice#you could probably easily do this on a computer#but I've been doing it the low tech way since I was rearranging my bedroom as a teenager#some habits die hard#I was talking to someone and realized not everyone knows to do this#thought it might help someone else#because moving furniture is already a pain#not having to move it twice is preferable#plus you can try every layout possible#and find you actually can fit that desk by the window#useful stuff#interior decorating

YUMI! SHOW US HOW TO..
tips and tricks for psds from a local girl failure!! these are just my tips if you want self proclaimed slightly better psds. if you want some tutorials or smth go to @/canarysage , @/imbermagnvs , and @/feixiaogf !
# : TIP 1 . use reverse gradient map!
Q : but why though?
A : it makes them better-ish! + will make them somewhat accesible to dark skintones. atleast to me!
ex : right is non reversed , left is reversed (note both is using the same settings)
CRAZY difference right?
# : TIP 2 . no overusing photo filter!!
Q : again, why??
A : makes the other colors look washed out imo
im sorry but this looks super washed out, where's the other colors? i reccomend only using photo filters to cancel out colors so its not that overwhelming or just make it pop more
# : TIP 3 please no over-brightness . .
i get you're trying to get that cute soft bright coloring, but PLEASE dong make the too bright, you can solve the over brightness by using curves and making it on the kind low points + make brightness and contrast to a negative point! like -10 or -5 or anything really
# : TIP 4 hue/saturation supremacy...
ily to all hue/saturation stans, i like it bc i can make the colors a little bit off, just to fuck with you. i'd usually use it to -1 or -5 and then make the sat to whatever
# : TIP 5 black and white on top !!!
this option can make or break your psd! euther you can make it highly contrasted or just. a weird darker version of the color, i personally just use it to up the color i wan and just leave the rests blank
thats all! i think. i can provide more but its 11 pm so no. bye bye and have fun psd making! ā Yumi

Pumpkin carving resources I've found
please please please add to this, I've only collected a few resources (due to not looking very hard bc I've accepted I'm just not that great at carving pumpkins), but I want to share tips and tricks and a few resources I've found along the way! this is a really great video tutorial if you're new or relatively new to pumpkin carving
this is a google drive I found on the Pumpkin Stencils subreddit
Pumpkin punchers are a really great product for kids or people who have disabilities that make carving pumpkins hard. You just figure out your design (I like to lay them out on a table to make sure I like it), then hammer each punch/cookie cutter into the pumpkin (this video shows a mom using them with her kids, it's easier to show than explain in words). There's a lot of listings for different ones on amazon, but the original brand is Pumpkin Punchers, though I'm not sure if that brand exists anymore. I always bring these to an annual pumpkin carving party, and when there have been littles there, their parents are always grateful to not have to individually carve a bunch of pumpkins.
Some loose tips and tricks I've learned:
Don't cut off the top of your pumpkin, cut off the bottom. It makes the pumpkin easier to light (you just set it on top of the light) and makes it last longer before falling apart (math reason that boils down to cutting off the top of an arch makes it weaker)
If you plan on putting your pumpkin outside or somewhere that wildlife will be able to get to it, don't bleach it! If you feel the need to give it something to make it last longer, use vinegar! Critters will probably eat bits of the pumpkin, and while I agree that it's annoying to have your hard pumpkin work destroyed, they don't deserve to be killed or made sick just for following instinct.
If you really want to have a pumpkin that lasts and that critters won't eat, use a foam one. Yes, carving foam instead of gourd is a little different and often harder, but it means you can really put your whole pussy into it and keep it (or give it away to a friend and they'll be reminded for years to come of their friend that loves them very much)
There's much faster ways to transfer stencils than poking holes. One that I've seen that I plan to try out this year is spreading washable glue either on the back of the stencil or on the pumpkin itself where you plan to carve, then smoothing the stencil on, waiting for it to dry, and carving through the stencil. After you're done, you just peel off as much remaining paper as you can, then wash the rest off with warm water. Another is using transfer paper, but people seem to have mixed results with that.
this one is also a regular art tip, but if you're using a knife with replaceable blades to carve your pumpkin (xacto or similar), buy a small sharps container!!!!!!!!!! They're easily bought on the internet, and are literally designed to hold sharp things. You don't want sharp blades or needles floating around while you're wrangling a pumpkin, and the lids on these can usually lock so you don't have to be careful about knocking them over!

WFH Burnout is Real. Here's How to Beat It š„š»
Working from home sounded like a dream... until it wasn't. Blurred lines between work and personal life, zero human interaction (except maybe with your cat), and the constant temptation to raid the fridge? WFH burnout is a real struggle, but don't worry, we've got you covered.
Boundaries are Your BFF
First things first, set some boundaries, fam. Create a dedicated workspace (even if it's just a corner of your kitchen table), establish set work hours, and stick to them. And for the love of all that is holy, close your laptop when the workday is done. Your Netflix queue will thank you.
Find Your Flow
WFH can get monotonous, so spice things up! Take breaks to stretch, go for a walk, or blast your favorite tunes. And don't be afraid to switch up your workspace. Try working from a coffee shop or a co-working space for a change of scenery and some much-needed human interaction.
Need some inspiration to create a WFH space that sparks joy (and productivity)? Check out my shop for designs that celebrate creativity, self-care, and the art of conquering the WFH life. š

Ironing Tips & Tricks
Experienced quilters know how necessary an iron is to quilting success. But if youāre just getting into the sport (if youāve done it, you know it should be classed as a sport) our tips may save you from some quilting mishaps.
IRONING
Ā
IroningĀ is only done during the beginning part of piecing a quilt. You should iron out the wrinkles in your fabric after youāve gotten it from the store and/or after youāve washed it.
You will want to iron gently (in the direction of the weft and warp) so that you donāt shift your grainlines out of position. This method of ironing reduces the likelihood that you will stretch out your fabric.PRESSING
PRESSING
Ā
PressingĀ should be done throughout the piecing process. After piecing, you'll want to press your fabric to set in the seam using the OnPointā¢ tip.
After sewing your pieces together, you should press the seam open or to one side (usually the darker fabric's side so you won't see the fabric through it). As with garment sewing, this reduces bulk in your finished product.
After sewing your blocks together, you'll want to open the quilt block by pressing it open from the right side using the OnPointā¢ tip. This will help eliminate any tucks or wavy lines to ensure your blocks are the correct size.
Pro-Tip:Ā Often used interchangeably, Ironing & Pressing are NOT the same thing.Ā IroningĀ is the action used to remove wrinkles by sliding a hot iron back and forth.Ā PressingĀ is the process of lifting and putting the iron down on a specific part of a project.

Guys how the actual fuck do I lose my muscle mass without gaining a ton?
My body fat is low but my musculature makes me look so bulky. I know working out less and lowering my intake would be the best option but with my family around all of that is really unpredictable and I might just end up gaining fat and not losing muscle
The best idea I've got is to make most of my calorie burning excercises cardio so that I'm not targeting so many muscles, and somehow find a way out of dinner. I hate that dinner in my house is so high cal that I can't eat anything at all beforehand otherwise I'll regret it
I have to eat 500 cals a day to meet my goal by the end of the month and I swear I will. Any tips in any form will be greatly appreciated

How To: Dopamine Decor!
So, recently I went from sharing a bathroom with my partner to taking over theĀ āformerly known asā guest bathroom. How, is not important. What is important, is what I discovered in doing so.....Letās talk Dopamine Decor!Ā
So, my background to this is usually first. I remember being a kid and rooms had themes. Like my kitchen as a kid not only changed because I moved a lot, but also because my mom would go from Cows to Chefs to I donāt even remember what came next. When I think of how to decorate a room, I tend to think of one general direction or feel myself.Ā
For the longest time I only decorated my part of my bedroom and no where else in the house. I used to share a bathroom with my partner, but then they did not have enough space (even though we had equal space in there) so I took over the guest bathroom. Some couples are happier this way, I was not one of those couples.Ā
So, I had to make my own happiness out of a less than desirable situation. I moved my stuff over and from the get go it was...eclectic. I was looking out in the world for either all disney villain stuff or flamingo stuff or sunflowers. And there just wasnāt like a whole little room worth of decor in any one theme.Ā
I suddenly realized the theme was...Me. Who was I? What did I like? What did I need to see more? What made me smile? And the answer to that is there is not one thing that makes me smile, more like multiple. So after I made myself the theme, I put what felt right in there like the eclectic hot mess I am.Ā
My sister ended up sending me a video on Tiktok about Dopamine Decor. I realized that I had stumbled into an on going trend. I donāt tend to be on trend but when I do, it tends to feel like a fateful accidental fall into them. More info here:Ā https://stylecaster.com/lifestyle/home/1367756/dopamine-decor-trend/
So, if you have stumbled onto this post and this is your push to try the trend-here are some tips:Ā
Identify what makes you smile: sometimes you know this and sometimes you discover this as you go.Ā
Release yourself of judgement: the only person who needs to like it is you, if other people like it then that is a bonus. Do not be afraid to put something out in the fear someone wonāt like it, you will never please everyone.Ā
Trust the process: things will come and go as they are meant to, trust the universe to put you in the right place at the right time. Fate has a way of arranging all the best things in life, like finding that cute sign while thrifting.Ā
Take it one piece at a time: Donāt worry if that wall seems bare, when you find the right thing to go there-you will quickly forget when it was bare. In the meantime, feel the excitement you are going to feel when it is not empty.Ā
Donāt break the bank for art: the right items for you donāt need to be expensive. You can make them, find them, thrift them. If you do love something enough, and you donāt care about the price-good for you. But breaking your bank over art doesnāt need to happen.Ā
Change starts with you. When you change your environment and your choices, the you you are changes with it. Really, interestingly enough this is a great spiritually based practice and some real gritty getting to know who you are or want to be. Have you tried dopamine decor? Should I showcase my weird ass style?Ā

I'm pretty comfortable with the amount of progress I'm making in my Stardew save. I'm nearing the end of year 2 and while it's not the Maximum Efficiency Possible, I've just gotten a pig and the furniture catalogue, and I'm happy to play at my own pace as intended
#I do wish I could make my farm look prettier but that'll take a lot of planning and overhauling my crop-growing section#I'm only three items off finishing the community centre which I'm especially proud of :)#I think I am not good at decorating though so if anyone has any tips help me out š#I also have a sewing machine and access to the yellow couch trick so I'm set in that department

Plant Parent Problems: When Your Greenery Ghosts You šæš»
Okay, plant lovers, let's be real. We've all been there. You bring home a new plant baby, shower it with love and attention, only to watch it slowly wither and die. What gives?! Don't worry, you're not alone. Even the most experienced plant parents have faced the dreaded plant ghosting.
Decoding the Drama
First things first, don't take it personally. (Your monstera doesn't actually hate you.) Most plant problems come down to basic needs: light, water, and drainage. Do some detective work. Is your plant getting enough sunlight? Are you overwatering or underwatering? Is the pot the right size? A little investigation can go a long way.
Green Thumb 101
Becoming a successful plant parent is all about learning from your mistakes. Don't be afraid to experiment, research different plant care tips, and even join online plant communities for support. And remember, every plant is different. What works for your succulent might not work for your fern. So pay attention, adjust your care routine as needed, and watch your plant babies thrive. š±
Want to show off your plant parent pride (or maybe commemorate a fallen plant friend)? Check out my shop for designs that celebrate the joys and struggles of plant parenthood. We're all in this together! šŖ“
