DC characters/moments as Tortured Poets Department songs/lyrics bc i have a light concussion and am very bored (in the album's chronological order)
(disclaimer before someone is triggered- some of the lyrics are taken out of context or interpreted differently than what they actually mean. this is just for fun don't come for me. also this gets pretty angsty towards the end so proceed with caution)
"I was supposed to be sent away, But they forgot to come and get me"- tim drake very obviously bc neglecting parents/boarding school
"I love you, it's ruining my life"- early harleen quinzel about joker
"My Boy Only Breaks His Favorite Toys"- the whole song is just harley quinn idc (pre-harlivy of course)
"Now I'm down bad, cryin' at the gym"- nightwing def cried at the gym at some point
"I stopped tryna make him laugh, stopped tryna drill the safe"- dick grayson about bruce after moving out of wayne manor
"You swore that you loved me, but where were the clues? I died on the altar waitin' for the proof, You sacrificed us to the gods of your bluest days"- remember the whole selena leaving bruce at the alter thing? yeah
"I'd rather burn my whole life down, Than listen to one more second of all this bitchin' and moanin', I'll tell you something 'bout my good name, It's mine alone to disgrace"- I'm just getting red hood vibes from this no specific reason
"Now, pretty baby, I'm runnin' back home to you, Fresh out the slammer, I know who my first call will be to"- almost every gotham rouge to batman right after escaping arkham/prison. especially joker, catwoman and riddler lol
"At the park where we used to sit on children's swings, Wearing imaginary rings"- this one specific panel of tim and steph
Tumblr media
"And this city reeks of driving myself crazy"- everyone who's ever been to gotham
"All my girls got their lace and their crimes, And your cheating husband disappeared, well, No one asks any questions here"- it's giving gotham city sirens
"Am I allowed to cry?"- maybe it's just me but i thought about clark kent discovering he had different biological parents and grieving about them even though the parents that actually raised him are alive and well
"So I leap from the gallows and I levitate down your street, Crash the party like a record scratch as I scream, "Who's afraid of little old me?", You should be" red hood's debut
"The scandal was contained, The bullet had just grazed, At all costs, keep your good name, You don't get to tell me you feel bad"- jason todd about the whole making batman choose between him and joker at the end of under the red hood
"You wouldn't last an hour in the asylum where they raised me"- this is 100% Bane bc he was born and grew up in prison for a crime he didn't even do!! also cassandra cain and damian wayne
(^this is actually the lyric that inspired this entire post lol)
"You caged me and then you called me crazy, I am what I am 'cause you trained me, So who's afraid of me? Who's afraid of little old me?"- kind of a stretch but remember that time they put jason in arkham?
I Can Fix Him (No Really I Can)- again the whole song is harley about joker
"Your arson's match, your somber eyes, And I'll still see it until I die, You're the loss of my life"- bruce about jason. out of all the robins that died, jason's death hit him the hardest. even now when bruce sees red hood, he still sees that happy little kid that he lost
"I can read your mind, "She's having the time of her life", There in her glittering prime, The lights refract sequin stars off her silhouette every night, I can show you lies"- bc we all know Nightwing is always dying on the inside, and it was very true in the discowing era bc it was right after he left the manor
"'Cause I'm a real tough kid, I can handle my shit"- jason pre-bruce
"I'm so obsessed with him, but he avoids me like the plague"- ok so we got joker about batman, cupid about green arrow, hush about bruce wayne... and a bunch of others but it's too many to write lol
"And you deserve prison, but you won't get time"- fucking tarantula that bitch
"The smallest man who ever lived"- the atom! not any of the messages in the song tho ofc he's just very small
"What if I told you I'm back? The hospital was a drag, Worst sleep that I ever had, I circled you on a map ,I haven't come around in so long, But I'm coming back so strong"- joker to batman after escaping arkham again
"I haven't come around in so long, But I'm making a comeback to where I belong"- jason coming back to protect crime alley after being away from gotham for years after his resurrection
"Even if it's handcuffed, I'm leavin' here with you"- batman and catwoman<3
I Hate It Here- imagine the whole song as homeless jason todd taking shelter in the library💔
"I built a legacy that you can't undo, But when I count the scars, there's a moment of truth, That there wouldn't be this if there hadn't been you"- bruce built a legacy as batman, and created a huge family he loves, and it hurts to think about but he wouldn't have any of it if joe chill hadn't murdered his parents
"Please, I've been on my knees, Change the prophecy, Don't want money, Just someone who wants my company"- kid bruce grew up all alone in a huge mansion, but he'd give all his billions away in a heartbeat if he could change his parent's fate
"So, they killed Cassandra first 'cause she feared the worst"- ok so you might think i chose cassandra cain for this only bc of the name, BUT- cass notices things others don't (like cassandra the prophet...), bc of her skills and abilities she is feared the most (Ik the song said "she feared" not "she is feared" but idc lol). like if someone knew so much about you just by looking you'd think she's some kind of a witch too
Peter- picture this: jason had a childhood friend back at crime alley. he left to live in wayne manor and become robin, and said goodbye to his old friend, promising they'd reunite again in the future. 3 years pass and his friend reads an article about jason's death. now listen to the song and try not to cry (if someone writes that fic send me the link IMMEDIATELY this has been haunting me) here's the link to the song with lyrics bc ik you're too lazy to look it up. also jason's middle name is peter:)
"Splendidly selfish, charmingly helpless, Excellent fun 'til you get to know her"- brucie wayne vs batman
"Started with a kiss, "Oh, we must stop meeting like this" But it always ends up with a town car speeding, Out the drive one evening"- catwoman and batman of course<3 the town car is the batmobile speeding out the batcave to catch catwoman (to arrest her or make out with her? probs both)
Robin- ofc we have to go robins for robin! imo that's bruce to dick and jason's robins, and dick to damian when he was his robin. dick and jason- despite the hard times they went through that led to them becoming robins, they were still mostly happy curious kids that run around covered in mud while bruce tried (unsuccessfully) to maintain the innocence they had left. as for damian- it's more of a stretch than the other 2 bc he had no childlike innocence before robin, but dick tried his hardest to extract the child that was hidden inside the ruthless assassin the league created, finally allowing him to experience normal kid things. idk
"He said, "I'm not a donor but, I'd give you my heart if you needed it", She rolled her eyes and said, "You're a professional""-to me this is clark kent completely in love and lois with her sass
"And at last, She knew what the agony had been for"- almost every hero. they suffer, they sacrifice, they fight, and sometimes they want to give up- but at the end of the day, they save lives, so it's all worth it
and that's it folks! feel free to add more/share your insights!!
sorry for any spelling/grammer mistakes, English isn't my first language plus like the title said i had a minor head injury a few days ago and I'm tired soI'm not proofreading this bc I'm going to sleep rn goodnight to all✌️

BPP I love Jimin but the autotune is bad. 😔 I don't know how to feel about it. I wish Jimin did a song like Promise or Serendipity it wld be better for more people right? I hate how pdogg ruined Jimin's debut. We should admit it. Nobody is even streaming it on youtube. Armys are pretending it's a good song but kpop fans are right BPP, the song is bad.
*
Ask 2:
Hi BPP,
I hope you are well.
I have read and continue to read your blog. You seem to think so highly of the rap line which is wonderful. My post isn't about them but I do like them more than the vocal line. Please note I am not trying to be negative with my question below. I am more curious because this has been observation lately..
I am not trying to be negative but I was wondering if you could help me understand this. Being in K-pop for a while, I knew I would come across BTS at one stage in my life. I have always known they are popular. I would have to be living under the rock to think otherwise. But one thing I have always heard is a discourse around Jimins popularity. Even before I got into BTS, I would hear Jimins name thrown here and there. I knew BTS had a guy named Jimin but recently I have been thinking that perhaps he isn't as popular as I had assumed. I would have thought his music video would garner million and millions of views easily but it's not even at 15 mil. How could that be? Similarly, people aren't purchasing his songs on iTunes. I see people begging them to buy the songs on twitter. My understanding was that he is the most popular member of BTS but looking at his views compared to the rest of the members, I am thinking he is on the lower side of popularity. I am surprised to be honest. I know popularity doesn't mean everything but wouldn't he need that to be a successful artist outside of BTS?
I am also not sure if the new song is good. The autotune feels too jarring. The video is nice but the song in itself doesn't do it for me. I would have really liked to minimise autotune. It would have also been nicer if his song was more on the lines of lie. I feel there is too much focus on visual representation rather than the quality of the song. People will listen to the song more than watch the video so it's disappointing. It's also not doing that well. I mean Taylor's re-released songs are beating him already. I am worried his album won't be successful. I was hoping they would use this solo era to gather more fans but I don't see how Jimin could possibly garner more fans with a song thats so jarring to listen to.
***
Sigh, y'all should never say I didn't allow room for other perspectives in this space because I'm humoring this talking point far longer than I honestly care for. Not trying to be rude, just honest.
Hi Anon(s),
So... um, let's see. Please remember y'all are talking to someone who thinks UGH is the best song in BTS's discography. My playlist order for Set Me Free Pt 2 is:
Arson -> SMF Pt 2 -> UGH -> What Do You Think? -> SMF Pt 2
I mix it up with As I Am by JB and Khalid, Indigo, NewJeans, On The Street, and Smoke Sprite. For playlist switches I rotate between rock albums, hiphop, and lofi.
So, that's my taste. Usually.
What do you notice in all the songs in the first sequence? Think about it for a sec. With the exception of What Do You Think? to some degree, they all use autotune. A disgusting amount of it, and I love those songs so hard I would fuck them if I could.
I'm not sure if people understand what I mean when I say I'm a fan of BTS's music, that I'm an ARMY. I mean I actually love their sound and have reached this conclusion recently after following them since 2014. So PDogg's stylistic choices are ones I like most times.
Yoongi and Jimin are very similar. In my opinion. And there is no member who embraces autotune and pitch distortion more than Yoongi. He is also the only member who blatantly and unapologetically displays his alter-ego in his music - in Agust D - and that's not a coincidence. Jimin does the same thing or at least tries to create the same effect in SMF Pt 2 by using autotune. Pitch distortion is the easiest way to other yourself in a song, to create a secondary personality. Tyler Joseph does this a lot with a shadow personality within himself that he calls Blurryface in his music. Jimin in SMF Pt 2 is done playing games. That man has rage buried inside of him and somehow, he has transcended it. Yet he expresses that rage in his first song as a solo artist, through a secondary voice. The one that voices the animal in him. That Jimin is telling y'all to come correct or fuck off. And he calls out his opps. Yeah, his opps. It's Aave and yes it's sometimes unfortunate when k-pop idols use it, but sometimes it's not. Think of 'finna'. And none of the people up in arms about Jimin using that word give a rats ass that XG, a rookie group, have used it more often than Jimin to no issue, but yeah it's impossible for the idol so targeted by death threats the Texas police got involved, to say he's got opps. But I don't really care either way.
I digress. My point is the audacious and offensive use of autotune is the point in the song. It's aggressive. It's supposed to annoy you and if you happen to be a weirdo like me, it's supposed to tickle your brain. Like, this song seriously has me fucked up. I like it a lot and it's just a testament to years of discipline that I'm not looping it on Spotify.
Anon in ask 1, it's possible Jimin would reach a wider audience with a ballad, pop track like Promise/Serendipity, or a more conventional hiphop song. I'm sure he thinks so too, maybe. And yet that's not how he wanted to express himself. He chose the harsh autotune and I happen to think he sounds incredible with it.
Now Anon in ask 2, Jimin is one of the most popular members in BTS, and BTS is of course still popular. We both know that. But it's also true BTS has become less popular within k-pop spaces in general, but that's predictable given how the industry runs, and it's possible that was all you were experiencing Anon - an environment where BTS and by extension Jimin, just isn't that popular.
If that were even possible. Because like, this is Park Jimin we're talking about here.
For the people apparently begging others to buy the album, I guess they are simply people who strongly want Jimin to do well on the charts and are trying everything in their power to make it happen. I'm yet to see any of that personally though on my side of ARMY twt, what I'm seeing is organized and spontaneous purchases done out of love for the artist and his art.
*
You both mention YouTube views/streams so let me just say something on it. Personally, I don't care. I mean I care enough that we at least try to meet the goals and I genuinely love the video so I've watched it multiple times today, but not really beyond that. All this to express the extent of my interest in this matter. But even I know YouTube changed their view-counting algorithm in 2021 to increase a migration of users to their paid platform, YouTube Premium. Views today are harder to count and so one way k-pop agencies have worked around to gaining views, is to buy ads on YouTube. Perhaps it would be great if BigHit was as involved as other agencies in helping that way, but they haven't been so far except for the Pandemic English Trilogy (PET), and ARMY has more reason to stay engaged. All this to say, the views we currently have are one of the best records the fandom has ever achieved for BTS, no matter how it stacks up to the others because there are too many people who love SMF Pt 2, are talking about it, re-watching it, too many of them to not be significant enough. For YouTube we're doing fine and enjoying it at our pace.
Also I don't know what y'all want me to say about how a white American woman performs on US charts, relative to BTS members. I'm curious, did you check for their relative performance on Korean charts? Since you're so interested in the question.
You don't need to be worried about Jimin's album not being successful. It already is.

I haven’t been surprised like that in a long time
It’s always spoilers or leaks but the surprise feature was like…… and especially the lyrics/context of the song it was definitely a moment in pop culture
I’d say the unexpected jaw dropping shock alone makes this the best solo debut of bts
I disagree, this is pretty in line with the western industry, but the song in itself isn't that jaw-dropping to me.I was surprised by the sexiness of it all because usually idols can be a bit muzzled about it by their companies and PR teams, but this is in line with jk's personality, the evolution of his image, and in general bts's career goal of expanding to the west.
In terms of music quality, I find the others' album release have been better.JITB was extremely well constructed and the storytelling was great and very well thought.RM's album had a very interesting expression of RM's musical style, and had both emotional and metaphorical complexity (which seems to be what he strives for).D-Day was a nice conclusion and a proof of growth from the last two Agust D albums, and he visibly worked on his vocal and dance for.I heard the shows were great as well.Set me Free Pt.2 was also surprising to me, because the instrumental layering was powerful. If we were only going by jaw dropping power, i would do
1.JITB ( especially Arson) 2.Set me Free PT.2 3.Seven
They did play on our expectations for the title "Seven" though, i think they did it on purpose.
I am waiting for a full album release to have a full opinion, but this single alone does not make it the best BTS solo debut in my opinion.

Its been 1 year of Jack in the Box and I am not okay
Tumblr media
Cannot believe its been a whole year since J-Hope released his official debut album Jack in the Box. I remember leading up to the release of the More mv I was telling my friend that I thought we were going to go through a Rocktan renaissance. And then Hobi gave us an album that just spoke grunge and old school hip hop. When I tell you those teaser images came out and I was like oh okay, this this is speaking to my angsty childhood.
I sadly didn’t get to appreciate this album as much as I wanted to because on July 11th we had to put down my cat of 15 yrs. But I tried to be tuned in for streaming and votes, and I was more with it by Hobipalooza.
So today we revisit J-Hope, sorry Jay’s, debut album 😂
Tumblr media
First order of business, I’m glad that the promotion and release cycle went the way Hobi wanted it to. But I will forever be wanting a cd cover with that KAWS artwork, its just so good!
BTS Episode: Album Cover Shoot Sketch
Standout tracks from this album for me were:
More, = (Equal Sign), What If… and Safety Zone
The Singles
youtube
The first introduction we had to Jack in the Box was through the release of the More mv on July 1, 2022. And the concept was definitely expressed. Hobi talked a lot throughout the promos about wanting to remove himself from the box of J-Hope, and see if he could still make music that would draw in people (paraphrasing), and for me he definitely succeeded.
BTS Episode: More MV Sketch
youtube
The Arson mv released on July 15, 2022, along with the album. It was a good title track to choose because it really speaks to the old - school hip hop with the kick snare beat.
Both of the mvs for this album really invoked to me at least, mvs of the late 90s early 00s.  Lots of muted dark colour palettes, close shots and enclosed spaces. For More specifically he’s always surrounded by stuff and contained within 4 walls, illustrating the claustrophobia of being contained. In More he’s still trapped in the box looking for more; whereas in Arson Jack has escaped and has burnt it all.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The choices for the two singles could not have been picked better. They bookend the album thematically and literally. Opening with More showcases the rock elements Hobi will be using, and ending with Arson calls back to his hip hop roots.
youtube
Just recently for festa we were treated to an Arson rock version, and oh boy does it slap. It’s less kick snare, more drum fills and guitar riffs. So if you’re not super into hip hop but love rock definitely check it out!
Bangtan Bomb: JITB Listening Party
lol does anyone remember when we started seeing all the celeb stories about this party? what a time 😂
Tumblr media
Hobipalooza
“You can call me Jay”
youtube
J-Hope headlined Chicago’s Lollapalooza on Sunday, July 31, 2022. He made history as the first Korean artist to headline a major U.S. festival. He drew a crowd of 100k to his 70 minute set at Bud Light Seltzer stage. He was A M A Z I N G!
I tuned in on weverse to watch his set and from the moment he popped out of the box he owned that stage. I’ve rewatched it a couple times since and every time its just as good. Highly highly recommend.
BTS Episode: j-hope @ Lollapalooza
J - Hope in the Box
(Can be found on Disney+ for streaming or can be purchased on Weverse.)
Tumblr media
I’ve always loved documentaries and behind the scenes looks at creation of art. Watching the inception of JITB and the triumphant conclusion with Lollaplooza, showcased how dedicated J - Hope is to his craft. The contrast between the quiet montage of Hobi staring at his computer in the studio to the boisterous prep meetings and rehearsals demonstrates how his art is not made in a vacuum. It may begin as introspection but it eventually has to be shared and he can not control the reception of others. I really loved the ending where there’s a final ITM of J - Hope in a park on a sunny day in Chicago, having finished his set the night before. He speaks on his thoughts about how JITB rollout went and how it felt to finally perform as a solo act. If you haven’t already seen it you should, BH has always been good at delivering behind the scenes content and the editing on this doc was some of their best.
For the first official solo debut of a BTS I couldn’t have asked for anything better. J - Hope gave us an album that demonstrated a new side to him as an artist. For those who already loved his music, you received more amazing music. And for those who were new to him, you were introduced to a musician who loves to try new things and push the boundaries of his talent when he is already at the top.
Here’s to 1 year of Jack in the Box, and here’s to J - Hope!
Tumblr media
If you’re interested in behind the scenes production looks etc. I’ve also linked the relevant Bangtan Bombs/Episodes.

BTS 2023 Festa
←BTS 2022 Festa
Tumblr media
The Festa is the celebration of BTS’ debut on 13 June 2013. It takes place in the first half of June, with something being released almost every day. There are usually dance practices, songs, photo albums, and members’ profiles.
Here's the official page and the timeline for the 2023 Festa:
Tumblr media
As usual, the poster features a lot of nods to the group. You can find the number 7 in a lot of places: the sum of the points on each dice (4+2+1), the pile of pink cards, the number of gifts on the board, the number of gifts outside the board, and the number of poles. There are two pawns with an ARMY logo and one with a BTS logo. This last one is on the June 13 case, namely the group's birthday. And purple is the dominant color.
You can check the official tweets for more details as well as the tweets about the official merch (2nd drop We Young Forever).

BTS PRESENTS EVERYWHERE is a massive collaboration between Hybe and several brands to provide ARMY with BTS-themed merch and billboards. You can find more information in the notices about the Partner Event Guide and the Seoul landmarks. It notably included a JEJU Air airplane decorated with BTS pictures.
TikToks of each member were also released.
People posted photos under the #FindBTSPresents hashtag.

Just like fans used to do for the members' birthdays, BTS rented billboards in several places to celebrate the love between them and ARMY, notably using the classic 아포방포 abbreviation (ApPoBangPo/AFoBangFo for Army Forever Bangtan Forever). You can find pictures of those billboards by clicking on the BTS globe on the official page and on the #아포방포10Project hashtag.

You know that after this solo era probably some people only will like one member because they only like their solo album ....not everyone will become army and not everyone will listen bts songs
Here’s the thing: that might happen and that might be true. But if they really want to dive into an individual member of BTS, they will eventually be introduced to all seven if they care enough to listen to their music or watch their content.
A more likely scenario is that they like a particular album and add the songs to their playlists and just casually listen. I can attest to this. I’m a part of a music discord that is not very kpop heavy, but the majority really liked J-Hope’s album. Are they “J-Hope solos” as in they are seeking out everything J-Hope related? No. They just liked his album JITB and listen to Arson a lot.
Imo the only people that will really “stan” one member from solo era have one or two things.
1) Toxic intentions as in they know BTS are a group that have debuted as a group since 2013 but are choosing to only like one member
2) Never heard of BTS before but like FACE or D-Day or some other member’s album and decide to start watching content ect and stumble upon the rest of the members and just have that member as a bias.
Anon, you won’t convince me that being a solo stan is a good thing. Not when BTS have always been a group of 7. Not when they are purposefully doing their MS as close together as possible so they can be a group again (unheard of for kpop in case you didn’t know)
I feel like people either don’t know the term “bias” or they have something against it, but you can like one member more than the rest for whatever reason. I do my bias is Jimin for a multitude of reasons. But that means one still likes BTS as a group.
In my opinion, that’s a healthy way to be a fan. Being a solo stan where you only like 1 or 2/7 is not good whether you talk maliciously about the other members (akgaes) or not. It’s just weird and doesn’t make sense. On my page, I’m not normalizing it.

J-Hope Hits No. 1 On Two Billboard Charts
Tumblr media
BTS superstar J-Hope has done it again! This time, he has earned two new No. 1 hits on the Billboard charts with his latest single "On the Street." What's even more impressive is that he achieved this feat with the same track on two different sales-related rankings: the R&B/Hip-Hop Digital Song Sales and the Rap Digital Song Sales charts.
According to data shared by Luminate, "On the Street" sold just over 6,000 copies this week, which was enough to secure the top spot on both charts. It's incredible to see how the song has retained popularity since its release, as it continues to perform well in its second frame of availability.
Last week, "On the Street" debuted at No. 2 on both the R&B/Hip-Hop Digital Song Sales and the Rap Digital Song Sales charts, coming in behind Nicki Minaj's "Red Ruby Da Sleeze." The latter song started at No. 1 on all applicable Billboard rankings with very healthy first-frame numbers. But J-Hope's "On the Street" has now overtaken Minaj's song to rule the charts.
What's more, "On the Street" also debuted at No. 2 on the all-genre Digital Song Sales chart last week, falling short of Minaj's hit once again. However, this week, J-Hope's single only falls to No. 6, while Minaj's single dips to No. 10.
Now, Minaj's latest hit has fallen to No. 4 on the R&B/Hip-Hop Digital Song Sales chart and to second place on the Rap Digital Song Sales ranking, making room for J-Hope to rule. This marks J-Hope's first No. 1 hit on the R&B/Hip-Hop Digital Song Sales chart and his second win on the Rap Digital Song Sales chart. He first appeared atop that tally last year with "Arson."
J. Cole's inclusion on "On the Street" has certainly helped J-Hope's chances at success. The rapper is credited as a featured act, bringing his talent, popularity, and credibility to the tune. For now, “On the Street” appears to be a standalone single from the BTS member. He released his debut solo album Jack in the Box last summer. With the band on something of a hiatus, he may have more music–or even another collection–on the way.

95corolla // LONG TIME LISTENER / FIRST TIME CALLER : A Review
I first listened to LONG TIME LISTENER / FIRST TIME CALLER a few days after it had come out. It was one of those records that took a while to digest. For a debut album from a band in this scene, it has quite a bit of material. (It also released as I was preparing to graduate, so I did have more pressing matters to attend to). LONG TIME LISTENER / FIRST TIME CALLER was my introduction to the Nashville emo band, and, oh boy, was it a strong one. The rave reviews I had seen on twitter were correct – this is a fantastic debut.
The first thing I noticed were the guitars, which is absolutely not a surprise. The moment they begin on the intro track LONG TIME LISTENER quite literally left me jaw-dropped and immediately enthralled by what else the album might have in store. Then came TO BE CAREFUL. The song as a whole, especially its lyrics, beg you to begin dancing and screaming along. The bridge and everything that comes after are especially phenomenal, and the final chorus is gorgeous. (I wrote a few paragraphs really digging into the lyrics of this one, but figured I'm better off just leaving it at this).
you crashed your car at night / and you called me right away / you told me you were okay / you lied right to my face / i told you, i want you / in the ambulance you cried / and your blood pressure spiked / you whispered right in my ear / i don't want to die. / i told you, i want you
The vocals on the lyric “Your blood dried so quickly, so quickly” are absolutely incredible, and some of my favorite moments on the album are when the vocalist is able to flaunt their incredible tone.
The momentum continues with PLANTER and NO COAST, and, after a brief intermission with the interlude WORRY, doesn’t hesitate to pick back up. NOTHNXLOL is especially catchy, and the chorus particularly appealed to me as someone finally getting out of their hometown.
i’ll never come back / can you even handle that? / goodbye flatlands / hello chicago / so let's go grab a beer and celebrate cause i’m getting out of here / i don't want my spot back / you can have it / i don't want it / un-engrave my name from it
This album is full of lyrics written to be screamed and melodies made to be danced to live in a sweaty, cramped venue, and this is where the album shines. THE NIGHT STAND, however, is a departure from the fast and loud energy we’ve at this point come to expect. Suddenly, we’re greeted with acoustic guitars, a slower tempo, and more vulnerable vocals. It took me several listens to really get this one, but I can now definitively say that it has some great lyrics and is placed perfectly in the tracklist. The nonstop energy could very well have gotten stale without a more acoustic song like THE NIGHT STAND, which would be a shame since EXIT and COPPER are both great songs.
wake up / you built this cage / i’m a canary / i’m in a coal mine / don't you regret? / i need an exit / i need an exit
COPPER might just have the most energy of any song on the album, accompanied by some great verses. After describing what seems to be a planned arson via Molotov cocktail, the song fades in and out and in again with an echoing chorus of three simple yet effective words – “This place sucks”. After this, the closing interlude FIRST TIME CALLER wraps the album up neatly, as if the explosiveness present just a few minutes ago never even happened, ready to begin again. And begin again it does. I’ve had it on repeat since its release in May, and it’s definitely up there as one of my favorite releases of the year thus far. Jaw dropping riffs, dramatic choruses, and extremely strong vocals and lyrics make LONG TIME LISTENER / FIRST TIME CALLER an album to remember.

Hello there! I love to read your responses ( I read two responses of yours (which is enough to make me love your views on tannies and their work) regarding controversial stuff in twt, and about the tannies in general)
I also apologize for my English in advance!
I had a question, about J-Hope's album, actually, I am and was a baby army when they went solo, and stopped doing activities as a group.
And I was not very involved in the streaming or tracking of their schedules for releases. So I didn't understand and realize the importance of Jack in the Box, as much as I do now for all the other releases.
Now, since I'm pretty active in twt, I get to see the sales tracking, stream tracking of Face, Indigo and D-Day..
Coming back to the question, what actually happened during Hobi's album release? And would it be possible to like you know up the sales again for the album?
***
Hi Anon,
I have no fucking clue. Honestly. I don't know where or when exactly it went wrong with Hobi's JITB release, but I know it did. I maintain the packaging looks pathetic and as I've said before, I'd say the same thing to Hobi's face. I love him, but come on. Lol. It would've been great to have a CD, a book, something with weight and heft that you can look forward to receiving in the mail. Not a scrap of cardboard. Hobi agreed and decided on it but it impacted his sales, and more importantly, the overall perception of the album too, however mild. His album also didn't show up on the official BTS website for a good while. With no explanation. While other members' albums were displayed. Just weird ass missteps like that and there's a lot more. But I'm aware all the members' releases have had their own set of circumstances, and incidents that go back too. It doesn't bother me much because this sort of thing is to be expected.
I liked a lot about Hobi's roll-out. I love that he let us in into his album launch party. We saw what the tannies look like in the club (cute). I love how he explained his process. The music videos for More and Arson are A24 indie gold. His 2022 MAMA performance of Future is iconic. JITB felt very Hobi. I'm thankful that record exists and the Weverse album version does have superior sound quality. Rush Hour, On the Street, and HUH?! are stellar follow ups to JITB.
youtube
Hobi has worked hard.
He's done so much and left such a huge legacy already. He's a one in a lifetime artist. I miss him dearly. Painfully, to be honest. This or that hiccup with rollouts doesn't register for me beyond my noting it. Life's too short to not savour everything they're giving us now. Yoongi has dropped the album of the year; Jimin has ended k-pop in 2023; J. Cole now calls himself "Cole hyung"; RM has collated an exhibit of some of the finest artists alive in Indigo; Jin performed in concert with Coldplay in Argentina (LatAm ARMYs, hi!); and Taekook are making splashes well ahead of their solo debuts.

era 0: onetwothreeheist and Thirty Called Arson. (2003-2004)
according to Discogs, Luis played guitar for a 0:45 track by a band under the name "onetwothreeheist". I haven't been able to find much evidence of the band even existing outside of a LiveJournal post about the band breaking up by one Shane Hutchinson, who I infer would be the bassist for the group. I can't even find an upload of this track anywhere, so that's out.
Thirty Called Arson, on the other hand, was a metal band that had a single album and EP. Luis played drums for them apparently, but there's not really any good record of that either. While the Discogs page does name him at the top, it doesn't mention him on the album or EP, so we won't be covering that either.
This leads us into Luis' actual debut as an artist, on November 15th, 2004. Antarctica by The Secret Handshake dropped.

assigning every song in taylor swift's debut album to the swiftieverse i've created
alright, so here's the deal. i created a fictional universe in which all the taylor swift albums are chaotic bisexual college girls who are dating each other, and now i'm assigning each song on her debut to situations involving them i've imagined.
tim mcgraw: debut and folklore sharing a beautiful moment at a charity dance organised by their college and thinking they'll never see each other again, only to find out they signed up for the same songwriting class and start writing every song about each other and sending love notes
picture to burn: debut being framed for arson by her garbage ex boyfriend and reputation, already a lawyer, ends up representing her in court, getting her cleared of all charges, beginning the most iconic friendship ever
teardrops on my guitar: folklore getting jealous of beautiful eyes bc she thinks debut likes her with all the glowing compliments - turns out that's just debut's sister and debut thought she already knew. time to throw away the embarrassing songs about unrequited love!
a place in this world: the tortured poets department, the new girl, being accepted into the friend group, and while unsure of her future, feels at home with her friends, and eventually, marketing. for now, she's single and thriving
cold as you: fearless and speak now's first argument, both of them thinking it's over and crying themselves to sleep (dw they're both just dramatic, they'll make up next week)
the outside: reputation feeling excluded from the group because of her criminal record but also she's trying this new 'optimism' thing. it isn't quite working (also everyone's fine with her and she and evermore are going to bond over this and both of their gfs, lover and midnights, are going to be cool)
tied together with a smile: 1989 struggling with mental health and her amazing soon-to-be-gf red helping her through it as she slowly begins to love and enjoy life again
stay beautiful: folklore admiring her girlfriend debut's carefree spirit and encouraging her to not let go of it bc she loves her even though they're complete opposites. also she loves debut's eyes
should've said no: fearless yelling at her ex for cheating on her with speak now cheering and throwing in some insults for the ex while everyone else gathers around with popcorn
mary's song: lover's proposal and wedding vows to reputation, both moments where rep shows rare emotion and actually cries with happiness, and then they go home after the wedding and fall asleep in their shared bed like they've been married for years
our song: when evermore and midnights discover they were each other's online relationships 'eve' and 'knight' back when they were sixteen and would text until 4am
i'm only me when i'm with you: red and 1989 making sure the other is happy as much as possible and then comforting each other when they're sad
invisible: debut and folklore realising they went to high school together but debut had a crush on her and folklore never realised bc she was too busy trying to be perfect and now they joke about it
a perfectly good heart: lover finding out about all of rep's trauma after rep offers to help with research for her psychology class and saying 'that's not as normal as you think it is' and helps rep process everything while being angry at the people who hurt her
so yeah those are my silly little headcanons about personifications about music albums! pls don't take this too seriously this is how i view all of them
