The Origins episode of Neverafter is so incredibly good. The Ylfa segment really is a peak Emily Axford moment because we get her quick, incredible wittiness shining through and then we seamlessly go into one of the most horrific scenes with Emily once again showing how good she is at showing vulnerability and connecting to her character's feelings.

not to be all "what if death note was rly edgy !!!!" but genuinely kind of sucks that the default way death note kills is not very violent. for a show w such a distinct edgy dark goth aesthetic its really incredibly tame. i need light yagami to be getting blood all over her hands, ripping ppls organs out of their bodies etc all while she mumbles to herself that this is for justice. i have to its for justice. the death note should turn people into blood eagles and light should secretly find it beautiful and angelic. she has to do it in the name of justice its not her fault it hurts. i want her to cleanse the world in pain and blood not just bodies

I don't think telling Corlys that Rhaenys died with honour, and how she might have wanted to (if she, in fact, did want to die in dragon flame especially as she thinks both her kids died by fire) means an actual jot to Corlys.

All he probably thinks is about how Rhaenys SHOULD have died. And she should have died at home. She should have died at peace, in peace. She should have died decades from now, with a smile on her face and no troubles. And, most importantly, she should have died after him.

I have my gripes about the ending of My Hero Academia but actually Toga pushing Ochako to live her life and love Midoriya if that's what she wants is not one of them. And I don't even particularly like Izocha

I don't really have time to play him more than like an hour every few days, but man, Marcus really is insufferably pretty. Half the time, I've got my finger glued to the screenshot button, lol.

His personality is slowly taking shape in my head too: so far, he's been a far kinder, more emotional person than the broody, analytical scholar I thought he was going to be (I'm leaning into the "arcane grief councilor, magic is not just engineering but also psychology/philosophy" angle a bit more, so he's approaching all from a place of emotion and analysis), and his softness is a choice that comes from a place of rigorous, painful self-awareness.

In his head, so far Marcus is kind of the king of compartmentalization: he's constantly picking through his own thoughts and feelings and slotting them away into neatly labeled boxes, while choosing which ones he'll let himself feel (and chastising himself for the rest), which then also translates to him being very cautious, guarded... maybe even somewhat cynical. He's keeping his distance in general (as one would probably expect from someone who has never much experienced a warm, emotionally fulfilling environment, and has not really been outside of an academic setting much).

I'm thinking that his personal arc is going to be based around his unspoken suspicions continuing to be confirmed over and over again in the worst ways, causing him to sort of recede more and more into himself, but it'll be the others daring to let their feelings be felt (with Neve forgiving him, and Bellara both relying on him in his field of expertise and dragging him out into the light with her exuberance) that's going to create some much-needed balance in the end.

I like to think that where Ver embodied the moniker of "Rook" from a place of strength and forthrightness (acting as Solas' foil in that way, as a leader), Marcus embodies it more from a literal sense: from being stuck, in the highest room of that (ivory) tower.

He's... probably more like Solas than either of them would like to admit, really.

Tonight's Ghosts episode absolutely DESTROYED me omg. Hetty is such a deep and emotional character but we never get to see any of that because of the wall she puts up around herself. But tonight she dropped that wall, if just for a split second, to save her friend. She cried, she was visibly shaking, the way her voice was wavering. I just. AUGH. HETTY. BABY GIRL.

She is such a special and important character and to have her be someone who committed is just. I feel like it's representation for people who have thoughts such as those, Hetty is a character who has helped me out of my own hole and I just. AGH. HETTY. I need to hug her

Do you have any thoughts on what Meilin’s mother was like? She’s such a source of untapped potential in canon. What happened to her spirit animal? Does General Teng share stories about her with Meilin? Do she and Abeke bond over losing their mothers at such a young age? I feel like she’s one of the many many things the authors forgot about :(

Yes! I agree, we really missed out on learning about Meilin's mom. I haven't developed her too much yet, but I'll tell you what I do know.

I currently have her name as Qianyue (骞月), but that is subject to change. Her spirit animal was a yellow-throated marten named Sujia. She was only twenty years old when she died giving birth to Meilin.

Qianyue did not get the chance to become a Greencloak, as her betrothal to Teng was arranged quite soon after her Nectar Ceremony. She was no warrior, conforming to what Zhong expected of women in that period, but Meilin desperately wishes she knew her. Everything she knows about Qianyue came from General Teng and her maternal grandparents. They told her she was clever and artistic but solitary, spending long hours in the garden of their mansion with Sujia by her side, lost in her own thoughts. With the guidance of her Marked parents, Qianyue spent much time working on her bond, too, learning to channel Sujia's speed and agility. Had her circumstances been different, she could have made a fine Greencloak. Teng always expressed that he loved her deeply, and she him, and Meilin doesn't doubt that -- but she sometimes wonders if her mother felt unhappy in her life. Married so young, unable to choose her own path, and on her deathbed five years later. It's not a life Meilin would have wanted.

Sujia survived the initial loss of her human partner and lived in agony for several more years. She was allowed to roam the family mansion freely and wanted for nothing in terms of comfort, but she never found peace. She retreated into herself and, over time, started to act more like a common animal. Finally, when Meilin was six, she refused all food and fasted to death. Meilin's memories of her are hazy, but she remembers being very little and sitting with her as she gazed wistfully into the garden where Qianyue used to walk, stroking her fur, encouraging her to eat with offerings of fruit, asking her what her mother was like. Sujia, of course, couldn't reply. When she died, it devastated Meilin. Sujia was her closest connection to her mother, and it felt like Qianyue was dying all over again.

Meilin grieves for her mother in a strange way, given that she never knew her, and that she herself was the cause of her death. That's a fact that has always been difficult for her to reckon with, even if she knows it was not her fault.

The nature of Qianyue's death has shadowed Meilin her whole life. It has left her with a fear of pregnancy and childbirth, and is one of the reasons why she and Rollan decide to adopt in adulthood.

I THINK!! usopp and nami (and maybe others too) need to learn haki. They said you can't be in the new world without it because everyone is just so incredibly strong and here we are. They are getting headbutted to death and can't do anything about it (their abilities are being nerfed for the plot I know) but they could be SO GOOD if they could do something more idk.... we saw how strong nami was with zeus.... but she has fought with her bostaff before and that just disappeared... nami haki bostaff you will live in my dreams I guess
