s1ep13 merlin, believing he will be dead by morning, goes to say goodbye to arthur and he leans against the door of arthur’s chambers and watches the glow of the fire light his skin golden, full of color and life that it had been sorely lacking while the prince was injured. he stares at the softness of arthur’s features and pressed the line of his profile into memory for while he passes he will wish for nothing more than to see arthur one last time, his smile and blue eyes one last comfort before he passes on to the otherworld. arthur turns to stare at him and frowns at whatever expression merlin is making. the prince kicks a weak foot out at the chair next to him and motions for merlin to join him. merlin slowly shuffles over but ignores the chair completely. he stops in front of arthur who watches him with wary confusion. the tug of his lips and the furrow of his brow sickeningly endearing and merlin allows himself to be selfish and leans down to press his lips to arthur’s.
the prince is sat frozen under merlin’s touch but he can’t find himself to care much about that, not when he finally knows what it feels like to kiss arthur. he hopes that will be his last sensation before the ever consuming nothing, he hopes he will close his eyes one last time only to find arthur grinning at him and calling him an idiot before leading him into paradise where he can watch arthur smile, hear him laugh, and feel his touch for all eternity. he pulls away and leaves before arthur can gather himself to form a response, dropping the letter explaining everything on the table as he passes. so he allows himself to be selfish twice - to take from arthur and to give, to let himself know what is feels to kiss the man, to embrace his feelings for him, and to have the man know him for who he truly is. he wishes to pass peacefully with no regrets. somehow that revolves entirely around arthur.
only…he survives the whole ordeal and yeah has a gnarly scar on his chest but is otherwise fit to return to his duties. which include taking care of the prince. of arthur. who he kissed. and who most definitely know about his magic by now. yeesh.
#bbc merlin#merlin emrys#arthur pendragon#merthur#s01e13 le morte d’arthur#fanfiction#fanfic#fic ideas#prompts#magic reveal#yippeeeeee#angst potential with the letter#did merlin explain that he was going to give his life for arthur’s in the letter? perchance.#now arthur’s in his chambers with tingling lips and parchment held loosely between his fingers#apprently he was kissed by a traitor. a sorcerer. an evil and wicked man#arthur doesnt really believe that. nor does he care.#what hes focused on rn is the part that details how merlin is going to willingly give his life in an exchange#too bad he can’t really move as he’s still weak from his injury and there was no way in hell his father would allow him to leave#not for the serving boy. not again. especially not after his near death.#so he’s stuck in his room and going out of his mind with worry#he spots gaius and merlin reenter camelot from his window and his worry falls into despair as he watches gaius clamber off his horse#and call for guards to help him lift merlin’s limp form and carry him to his chambers#(merlin passed out after the fight from both the strength of magic used to kill a high priestess#and from the pain of her fireball catching up to him bc his skin is literally melting off him)#(not literally but third degree burns hurt like a bitch do he feels his description is accurate)#arthur hobbles toward gaius’s quarters and stumbles in to find merlin thrashing on the patient cot and screaming and wailing#while gaius tends to his burn

Posting it on its own as well cuz there’s something about Danny being naturally quite creepy in ghost form, just left of human shaped and unhinged about it too

Apologetics for transphobia is just transphobia. Transphobia is just as dangerous, even if it's "well they don't want you dead, they want [x, y, z]." Transphobia doesn't have to end in somebody's death in order for it to be real, dangerous, and worth discussing (not to mention that "non-lethal" transphobia is still very much lethal).
I understand why people want to categorize transphobia into "real and dangerous" and "not real (and not really dangerous)," but that isn't going to save us. Transphobia is transphobia. Transphobes often do not want to ~💐save trans people💐~ with kind words and affirmation. They want us eradicated - gone.

Sometimes it seems like the anti fandoms are more toxic than the actual fandom that the anti fandom people hate on, it's actually really sad.

laudna’s form of dread is now a manifestation of the sun tree, and no longer the veiled ghost. she’s also seemingly without a patron at the moment, given that we haven’t heard from delilah in a while.
full offense to delilah, she doesn’t need more screen time. i would love it if bell’s hells actually managed to stamp her out of laudna. i’m sure they could make a full storyline in arc 3 about squeezing her for information on the assembly and fully purging her, but i think it would be cool for laudna to go somewhere else with it. to feel safe drawing on her warlock powers and to know that she’s no longer the contingency plan of the person that she was collateral damage for.
the idea here is that laudna starts drawing on the sun tree. it doesn’t quite hit the qualifications of a celestial patron even though it was blessed by pelor, so i don’t know how it could be made into a warlock patron without homebrew. also. celestial warlock is heavily based on light and radiance, so you’d get a fun little juxtaposition of a shadow sorcerer pulling on something that makes her do radiant damage. i would probably pull a few druid spells, but that feels like it’s encroaching a little bit on fearne & orym’s territory, so maybe not.
think about it. when you die, your body starts to feed the earth and decompose. the sun tree was dead/dying in the presence of the briarwoods, and came to life again during the revolution against them. it lived in her head just as delilah did--perhaps after being raised, and knowing it can talk, laudna can make conversation with something else that lived in her head for years.
i think its request would be to plant saplings of it, the way keyleth did in zephrah. give the sun tree a chance to spread beyond whitestone and take in the light of other places. funny little way to do this: laudna lays down & goes to sleep at night--in the morning she has to disentangle herself from a bed of roots.

i've been considering dark's passive morbidity for a while and i do think that in regards to verses wherein he has more utility freedoms thanks to various handicap aids that help daisuke's body attune to dark's magic (a la reverse1999 or fate) he's not going to rely on brute force (hey he's thin. he might have hidden talons/claws for his hands but he's got bird bones. he would Not win a pure physical fight) nor is his maximum capacity necessarily his free-range elemental prowess, (as a god-like [lucifer-esque] guy who can fuck around with fire, electricity, light, etc) nor is it even his debuff-type magic (putting everyone around him instantly asleep, adjusting/erasing others' memories) but. his absolute thematic peak. is quite literally messing with others' time. the 'chains binding him to the arts' has always one of his utilities already, (and also what he canonically uses against krad) but the way that dark ever destroys anything - soundlessly disintegrating it, turning it into nothing but a black smoulder, isn't any sort of 'physical force' as it is an applied, immediate, infinite aging. when dark breaks an artwork, or even something with a life with his magic, he's putting it through years, hundreds, thousands, centuries, a millennia of wear and aging, until absolutely nothing, not even dust exists. it's not flashy or dramatic, it's not bloody or visceral. anything just crumbles.

It's interesting how Tobias is practically in limbo because he doesn't fit in with Wammy's ideals & doctrine (it's clear from the few orphans we've met that they are/were genuinely good people at heart and easy to impress/groom as children, which is why they were so quick to lay their lives down for Watari's cause of "greater good" without so much as a second thought) but he also doesn't fit in with the underground entirely (he doesn't feel anything at all about murdering people and taking advantage of them, and he certainly does find it fun to get revenge on those he deems deserving/those who can challenge him, but he's the odd one out nevertheless because he gets no "ego boost" nor pleasure of any kind from simply getting richer or from having power over the powerless like the typical dons or criminals do; and in certain cases he even considers their preferences to be in poor taste).
#◜✧ . ❪ muse. tobias. ❫#◜✧ . ❪ tobias ; meta. ❫#I don't think there are many people out there who can understand him & tbh it's for the best that he doesn't seek to be understood#Elijah comes closest as the person who's been near Tobias for over a decade now but he doesn't understand Tobias either#He's too nice of a person to grasp Tobias' viewpoint & he doesn't get why kindness doesn't come as easily to Tobias as it does to him#but that comes from a certain place of privilege bc Elijah never had to go through what Tobias did pre-Wammy's House#Tobias was only taught kindness (and even that in its self-sacrificial form) AFTER his most important formative years had passed#not to mention how the trauma he's endured during those formative years /literally/ changed the way his brain works#his nurture was specifically intended for a life of crime & brutality and it's Wammy's House who intervened in that before it was too late#so Tobias is in a very... awkward spot bc he does Not see eye to eye w Wammy's House (not even w Elijah who's basically his best friend)#but thanks to their repeated teachings he also doesn't see eye to eye w the people of the underground. Like bro where do you even belong.#Tobias the guy who brings chaos (/neg) in the lawful world and the guy who brings chaos (/pos) in the crime world#He's a headache for everyone involved (too murderous for the good guys; too 'righteous' [<- in their opinion] for the bad guys)#Atp the only things that drive Tobias to act are 1) spite 2) interest in specific people 3) retribution (whether repaying favors or death)#Wammy House's wild card fr. Who even knows what this man will do at any given point in time

Girl like. The reason he said "this is how it should be" and faced death with a smile....is cuz he wanted to die. For 2 years he sat there thinking he was worthless and deserved to die. If he hadn’t be shot, his death would’ve been suicide, he was fully planning to die in a gutter somewhere undetected. When saying "this is how it should be" hes literally saying "don’t cry because I’m dying, my death is a good thing actually because I fucking suck and you are better off without me". I don’t think that’s badass even slightly, it’s actually really sad and really shitty. Shinjiro is so convinced that he deserves to die and hates the idea of anyone giving a shit about him because he literally can’t wrap his mind around the idea that he will be missed when he’s gone, that his death is a bad thing actually. And his last words were meant to be comforting because he fully did not intend for anyone to be there when he died, he intended to die alone, so he says them as a reminder that he’s not worth crying over
Personally, if it were me, if I was holding my dying best friend in my arms who was deeply depressed and suicidal and he said "this is how it should be" uh. I wouldn’t admire him for it??? Like am I losing my mind when I say the way this game handles Shinji is bad or is anyone else seeing this too 😰
#its like okay listen i understand the basic math of any persona game they say things and everything they say is actually#very bad when you think about it for more than 3 seconds#like what theyre intending to do with the death of this character is be like oh no your sad friend dies tragically thats so saddddd#but that doesnt mean you cant live a wonderful life full of meaning you cant let grief consume you life is beautiful awagga#and i guess shinji is a specific character whos used cuz i guess its more tragic that he never realized he was worthy of life and shit#and i guess its also like ‘dont be like this guy who let grief consume him and then died you gotta Be Different’#which i dont. love. that last part cuz if you think about shinji and what led him down this road#its like. of course hes depressed! he accidentally killed a woman with a child when he was 16!#he himself is an orphan and he just made some other kid an orphan as well and it happened cuz his persona went out of control#which very much can translate to ‘this must mean im dangerous and can hurt everyone if im not kept under control’#so of course he isolated himself and believed he was evil and became suicidal like who wouldnt feel that way#like am i supposed to be mad he left sees and took drugs cuz uh while i dont think isolation or Evil Drug is good for his mental health#i dont think him continuing to fight in sees is something he can just easily do again given how he killed someone like he shouldnt have to#be a part of this thing anymore like how would he even safely get castor to not do that??? he cant kill more people on accident!#so yeah like using shinji as an example of bad coping mechanisms is already just. a big fucking oof to me like it just feels like the game#is saying he shouldve gotten over it and simply not be suicidal and stayed on the team. idk if thats the intent but uh it wouldnt faze me#cuz persona games are notoriously awful at writing characters who are traumatized and abused#but what makes everything even worse is how the game kinda like. acts like shinjis death is a stepping stone#like we’re supposed to use it as a wake up call and understand the stakes but keep going on anyways#and akihiko and Ken get. ‘great character development’ according to the game telling you they have now developed#but damn all akihiko is is just repressed he cries for 3 seconds and then is like I SHOULD MAN UP and then neglects a depressed child#shinjis dying words are words to live by now even though they piss me the fuck off like girl am i crazy HES FUCKING#HES TELLING ME NOT TO CRY OVER HIM BECAUSE HE SHOULD BE DEAD ACTUALLY AND THIS IS A GOOD THING ACTUALLY#like if the game wants us to still find meaning in life despite losing someone it just really hurts that shinji has to die for that to work#apparently. cuz the character i see myself in is shinji. not some perfect prettyboy who does everything perfectly and has 4 gfs#his death seems like a punishment for bad behavior. the bad behavior being of course depression and drug use. and im simply supposed to be#better than that if i want to live. and we dont get to form a connection with him cuz thats gayyyyy#and his death is like a NOBLE HEROIC SACRIFICE idk its just such bullshit to me i hate it so bad#how is killing a suicidal guy and then treating it as admirable that he said ‘this is how it should be’ supposed to make me feel#makes me feel sick personally and it ruins the entire game’s theme to me because its fucking shallow and the story is bad and im tired

a great number of sphynxes have that sort of 'human face on animal body' build to them bc thule got stuck on how to best make a mockery of drakes for a long while. humanity as a whole in alamannis seen mostly as a companion piece to vennettes- less varied and more delicate, yet inextricably linked with the most widespread species of the planet- so with drake relations to vennettes always just a bit Shit somehow insinuating that even humanity was more close to divine dragonhood than they was a stinger. a bit too petty though they eventually settled on instead an ominous fullcircle warning of the future their constant ambitions would bring with the more corvid leanings that the vascohse would end up with themselves

This is an idea to be fleshed out later, but I want to put it here first as I'm headed for a nap and I also have to study for tomorrow's exam so there are high chances that I will forget but—
Snake ring serpent = World serpent = Ouroboros = Jörmungandr
Ouroboros → God of [at least in] Enkanomiya. Its different parts make different locations and its heart is where the prison is and where secrets are guarded. The Serpent's Heart (also called Heart of Ouroboros before Orobashi's arrival and after his arrival) is home to an altar considered the heart of the Cosmic Serpent / imaginary serpent.
Jörmungandr → Related to Yggdrasil (Irminsul's inspiration) and one of the factors that caused the Ragnarök aka twilight of the gods.
Jörmunr → Old denomination of Irminsul.

I finally saw the cutscene of Karlach visiting her parents' graves with Null and I've had tadpoles about it all this time
#baldur's gate 3 spoilers#OC: Null Number#category 7 autism event in the tags incoming#imagining Null visiting his own family's graves that night#he'd told they're buried in the city graveyard but didn't tell where#so late that night Astarion notices him slinking out of camp and decides to follow him out of curiosity#and what does he find but Null standing at three graves in a line for his parents and sister#and it's the most heartbroken Astarion's ever seen him#he's sobbing so hard no noise is even coming out aside from shaky breaths and the occasional whimper#repeating to himself what he said to Karlach about becoming soil‚ water‚ and air‚ and how we don't die‚ we change#and now Astarion understands why Null looked so distant in his gaze despite the warmth of his smile when talking with Karlach#he didn't even approach like he planned to he just left and let Null be alone#his entire plan fell apart seeing how broken Null was and he had no clue what he could even say in that moment#sorry I'm exploding about this because Null's been raw about his family's deaths his entire life#and the Emperor's first meeting with him being in the form of his sister didn't help AT ALL#like his main goal in life alongside getting his wings and power back by breaking the curse he's under is finding solace in their deaths#he just wants peace and for them to rest in peace knowing he loves them and still lives for them#anyway#sad fae that's cursed to live as a drow hours again I'm so fucking happy I made Null in this game and made an AU for him

As a certified Akechi lover i probably should have more love for Legato. But it is just not the same.
Probably the level of cruelty involved + the fact that Akechi's ultimately a kid with a vendetta & too much power whereas Legato is someone who had no will to live so he filled that hole with the will of someone actively pursuing genocide.
Fantastic antagonist! Compelling narrative purpose! I love Legato as a character. I still want to drop kick him anytime I see him.
#speculation nation#major antagonist and foil to the protagonist does not a favorite character make#idk ive just been wondering why legato doesnt hit for me like he does some other people#considering how much i love akechi#& i guess it boils down to the Reasons for what they do. ultimately goro's doing this out of a twisted sense for justice#and an extreme anger derived from his childhood that is frankly justified#whereas legato is just... that dude is Fucked Up. i mean akechi is too but MAN.#while akechi sacrificed himself in the end to save the protagonist. legato FORCED the protagonist to kill him#via threatening someone vash cared about#two very different forms of suicidal self sacrifice. one born from the wish to change things at the last moment#for the sake of the protagonist. & using that as an excuse to say goodbye to this wretched life#vs legato living his life for the purpose of serving knives & if his purpose is erased there is no point to living#& he has been Obsessed with vash. a hatred to rival his love for knives. so it's one final Fuck You to force vash (known pacifist) to kill#a death born out of the sick wish to corrupt him. to force vash to kill him instead of killing himself.#LIKE it really is so fascinating. i could study them both under microscopes forever#but it's that difference in motivations that has goro being My Son and legato being a character i want to throw off a building#no hate to legato lovers Genuinely. fascinating character. im just trying to sort out my feelings on him.#trigun spoilers/#suicide ment/

thinking about. potential leader of the "death-obsessed cult" within paragon's call / inferred worshipper of the duskmaven, otohan thull, using poison that seals souls behind one of the divine gates and prevents resurrection. there's also an interesting piece of dialogue from treshi, who, in relation to the ruidus superstitions of those within paragon's call, said: "i've seen enough interesting, weird things in my life to know that most nothing makes much sense, so you get what you can with the time you are given. and when your time is up, it's up." also, it's very out there, but if the poison is less about preventing resurrection and moreso about redirecting the souls elsewhere if possible -- say, behind a different gate -- there's this interesting piece of lore from c2:
"there is a prominent belief, superstitious as it is largely considered, that most of these meteors that do come through in meteor showers themselves are parts of ruidus, the distant moon, breaking apart and making their way towards the planet. some believe because it's decaying and just showering its decay upon the planet in clumps, others believe it's supposedly distant warriors' spirits that themselves are returning to the planet after being lost on the battlefield."
