The thing about Dean's lack of funeral in 15x20 is that there's a whole episode dedicated to a hunter's funeral in season 12, six episodes after Dean said what he wanted for his own funeral.

I'll be honest. I find utterly disgusting the underlying message when you compare Asa Fox's and Dean's situations:

Let's celebrate the life of a man who chose to hunt.

Let's forget about the child who was forced into hunting and never got out.

HAMBURG I: It's not just that the narrative becomes so ridiculous, it's that as usual all the other evidence we have contradicts it. George talking about punching Stuart. Stuart's letters. The sourcing voids. “The logbook recorded” nonsense, but a few pages before that the “logbook” is long lost, “unfortunately.” It's like Lewisohn forgot his continuity notebook.

But mostly it's the pictures that put the lie to “Stuart was all and Paul was off moping in a corner.” (And incidentally, very jealous of Pete getting all the best birds.)

what do you fucking mean that's how charlie dies. THAT'S HOW CHARLIE DIES??? i mean i know the show has a penchant for killing off every character who's not a winchester brother or an angel of thursday but good god. what the fuck. charlie was such a good and enjoyable recurring character, and she had such a fandom impact that i've seen, and she's only around for THREE SEASONS?? (sidebar: it's amazing she has the presence she does for only being around for a couple episodes in the long run!) but: was this necessary? and she just dies offscreen after her skills are utilized to progress the plot of decoding the book of the damned?? oh my god. what in the actual fuck. i'm finding myself getting genuinely very upset at her death. she did not fucking deserve that. and i can absolutely see why the fan response to her death is what it is now. completely fucking unjustified and throwaway and useless.

I headcanon that Sam was a daddy’s boy until John slowly stopped coming home as often. Then he became Deans boy, but he’d still have those moments where he’d cuddle up to his dad and be a suck, even when they started to fight at the beginning of Sam’s teen years.

The funniest part of the "Sam could have rented a freezer" discourse is that somehow they thought it was MORE reasonable for Sam to rent a freezer to put his dead brother's body in and drive it around the country so that Dean's friends could come to the funeral than for Sam to just mourn his brother in peace.

No no, Sam should have traumatized himself and put his brother's corpse on ice for an indeterminate amount of time until Dean's three living friends could show up to look at his dead body. That makes more sense. You're so right.
