whats ur thoughts on boston crusaders 2022? its one of my favorites along w scv 2018 (babylon my beloved 😍)
hmmm I like it? it's not in my top shows but I can appreciate it and there are certainly shows I dislike more (not that I really DISlike it, I'm just pretty ambivalent about it I think)
I also haven't watched it in a while which definitely (negatively) impacts my rating of it. sad the soloist flubbed at finals tho that must have felt really bad :(

"Boy Meets World" alum Danielle Fishel is opening up about her breast cancer diagnosis.
The 43-year-old actress, who played Topanga Lawrence on the beloved coming-of-age sitcom, revealed the news on the Aug. 19 episode of "Pod Meets World," the podcast she hosts with fellow "Boy Meets World" co-stars Rider Strong and Will Friedle.
"So, I would like to share something with our listeners, something that Rider and Will were actually two of the first people I told the news to," Fishel said at the top of the episode. "I was recently diagnosed with DCIS, which stands for ductal carcinoma in situ, which is a form of breast cancer."
"It is very, very, very early. It's technically stage 0," she continued. "To be specific, just because I like too much information all the time, I was diagnosed with high-grade DCIS with microinvasion."
According to the American Cancer Society, ductal carcinoma in situ, or DCIS, is a non-invasive or pre-invasive breast cancer which is also referred to as intraductal carcinoma or stage 0 breast cancer. About 1 in 5 new breast cancers will be DCIS and nearly all women with DCIS can be cured, the organization states.
The high-grade nature of Fishel's DCIS diagnosis, according to the National Cancer Institute, means the DCIS tends to grow more quickly than other versions and is more likely to come back or become invasive breast cancer and spread to other tissues than other grades.
The microinvasion aspect of Fishel's DCIS diagnosis means that, according to the National Institute of Health, it is less than or equal to 1 millimeter in size.
"I'm going to be fine. I'm having surgery to remove it," Fishel reassured listeners. "I'm going to be on some follow-up treatment. I've had to make a lot of decisions over the last couple of days."
Fishel said she shared the news in the hopes it would motivate others to get checked -- and get checked regularly.
"The only reason I caught this cancer when it is still stage 0 is because the day I got my text message that my yearly mammogram had come up, I made the appointment," she explained. "They found it so, so, so early that I'm going to be fine. And so, I want to share this because I hope that it will encourage anyone to get in there. If it's time for your appointment, if you've never had an appointment before, get in there."
Fishel, who admitted she still has "some big decisions ahead" regarding treatment and doesn't have all the answers yet, added, "If you have to find out you have cancer, find out when it's at stage 0, if possible."
Strong and Friedle offered words of encouragement and support to their former former castmate and co-host.
Fishel shares sons Adler and Keaton with husband Jensen Karp.

Part two Beware spoilers for life on mars series one and two
Hello, hello, hello (some brainrotted fellows will understand this reference) Welcome to another edition of
*me rambling at you about life on mars (the UK version)*
Most important thing: this is my interpretation/analysis.
So, these are my personal, quite uneducated opinions. Also: I bought the series on DVD. No one will be safe.
Today, we'll be talking about the usage of colours in lom in general. If I do start and finish a rewatch and find some interesting scenes – I will add my commentary on them.
Like I already said many times before – there aren’t really many scenes in 2006/2007.
The shooting script of the first episode (I found it while floundering around on the waybackmachine) originally includes a scene in Sam and Maya’s appartement. (Context my beloved: Sammy boy is being kind of an ass, too busy with his job to solve his issues with Maya. She attempts talking to him but fails. I don’t know why they deleted it, because it would have really provided more context to their relationship and – most importantly, for my cause, a sneak peek of their apartment – I imagine it as very clean and kind of impersonal, a few personal touches, Maya’s attempt to brighten up the place. I think they’re both really busy, they started decorating but then Sam became DCI and he got too busy to use the apartment for anything except for sleeping. #Overwhelmed king)
Anyway, let’s take a look at.... a shot that to me represents a big theme of the show and some ✨️colors✨️.
After Sam gets hit by the car , he wakes up in this construction site with a poster of the soon to come high way. An image of the Future.
Tumblr media
There’s a really distinct difference between the colour palates. The “future” sky is a nice light-blue, not a cloud to be seen, with some touches of orange and green. Everything is all white, clean and perfect – and it’s all coming soon(er or later).
Of course, it’s a very idealized version of the future. Because it’s how Sam perceives it – at this point in time, he’s very desperate to return.
(Just look at the scene where he first gets contacted through the math programme through the TV. The way Sam crawls towards the TV….. SIR, YOUR ACTING CHOICES. PLEAAASEEE.)
Tumblr media
But it’s still surprisingly accurate. However, the idealistic picture of the future is quickly shattered, if you consider that – let’s squint our eyes - to see little Sam’s limp body lying on the ground. Surprisingly, in the 1970s we don’t really see a person being hit by a car (as far as I can remember - except Sam ofc)- But – let’s be honest in 1973 the streets are just every ground that is remotely driveable on.
Tumblr media
The past still contains traces of those colours, mostly orange as seen in the dirty underneath the bridge. The air is heavy and greyish, trash and building material is littered on the ground.
The only bits of white are the high-flats in the background, but they are far far away.
Those buildings and streets are still being built – everything’s in flux. Things can change. But, should they? Sam is generally really unsure in that whole department but that’s the thing about it:
We never actually find out, (side note: I haven’t yet seen ashes to ashes) if Sam’s choices actually make an impact in the present. It certainly gives you the impression – his father staying away, his mentor teaching him those lessons, Maya’s birth, etc. etc.. But does it really matter in the end?
Or is it just all in his head? Is he still Sam Tyler in a hospital bed in 2006 or is he an amnesiac Sam Williams in 1973 on an undercover operation?
In the past, there are several buildings – bound to Sam Tyler’s identity, and which I will be further explaining in another ramble.
Let’s get back to colours. Two examples where a similar concept applies: The interrogation room and the general office space of the police department.
Tumblr media
The room is flooded with light – courtesy of the huge windows (side note: privacy??? What’s that?). The situation is very transparent as the interrogation is literally being recorded. The person being interrogated has their whole support team with them, including lawyer, social worker and psychiatrist. This scenario is as by the books as you can get it.
I also really like that little shot of Sam adjusting the pens, character go brr.
Same thing in the general offices – a 2010s fever dream with all those clunky computers – which school computer lab have you magically transported me to?
Tumblr media
Imagine the absolute horror that Sam feels when he sees the past police department.
Look at it
Tumblr media
Without considering the lighting and furniture, the room looks sort of modern – it has a lot of windows and could be causing the same effect as the interrogation room on a visitor.
The officers are working diligently and carefully through every case and issue – investigating every clue and they never rest until they catch the perpetrator.
But that’s wishful thinking - In reality (at least in the past)the room is tinged with brownish yellow lighting, there’s no order to the tables, paper strewn all over the desks and even spending a second in this room will lead you to smelling like smoke for the next 55 years. I would faint. And I’m not even talking about the consequences of not being a white straight guy….
This police department doesn’t even have an interrogation room, they also rarely record any interrogations (leaving a lot of room for interpretation or using some creativity to catch the suspect or get an important lead) and mishandle, don't notice or even collect crucial evidence.
Tumblr media
In the lost and found
Even asking for a lawyer – leads to being laughed at and insulted by the literal governor of the department. It’s quite dark and very cramped – it’s quite private – so no one will notice you beating up an innocent person….
But I still feel the office feels very lived in.
Tumblr media
There’s a giant dart board, random trophies, dirty dishes strewn about… Good luck getting your case solved. Where’s the evidence that could solve your murder? It’s probably buried under some spicy magazines and a bunch of cigarette buds.
Tumblr media
For all the time the police spend at the office, they sure do know when to stop and start going to the pub.
One scene in the later seasons – in the episode about the false imprisonment of the teenager who murdered his younger girlfriend, Gene Hunt is determined to catch her killer for good. He’s made a promise to her father and he’s willing to do almost everything to make his city a safer place (any means necessary). He urges the police men to do anything they can, work day and night and not sleep a wink until they’ve put the right person in prison.
And then, he peeks at his watch and drops everything because they need to get drunk in the pub.
and that's it, hope you enjoyed :)
BONUS: have some cinematic shots
For u @roxannepolice <3
featuring: desperation, isolation and crippling loneliness

(grips your shoulders) tell me about your alive elizabeth afton au
!!! Okay okay so. I have to make clear its not Just her, it's a whole "All the Afton kids live and are left to fend for themselves together with all their combined trauma" au but it's gotten very fleshed out for Liz specifically because my bestie @tibby and I love her ♡♡
But, to give you a very tldr background for this au (which I can/will elaborate more on later) in this version of things, Evan doesn't die from his birthday incident. He doesn't even get hurt aside from the emotional scars. Instead, Michael being the stupid older brother he is puts his arm in Fredbear's mouth after pulling Evan out to go "See, it's not even dangerous, you're crying over nothing" and promptly gets his arm bit, so badly that he ends up Losing the arm entirely. Due to a lot of factors that stem from this incident, William instead of being fueled by grief over his lost son to start killing kids, instead kills Charlie for different reasons, and after witnessing her possession, becomes Obsessed with the ideas of immortality and subsequently making a Perfect Version of his family via his robotics. So a lot of the main facets of canon still happen (Charlie + MCI + DCI murders, Henry leaving the company) but they happen for very different yet related reasons.
So all of that leads up to what happens with dear Elizabeth ~
Because you see, I do love the interpretation of her being a daddy's girl when it's done right (meaning making it as tragic and with lasting trauma as fucking possible.) So she's William's golden child. She's not rebellious like Mike, nor an anxious mess like Evan. No no, she's curious instead. She takes a genuine interest in William's robotics work, and in her he thinks he's actually found the perfect successor among his kids. She gets blatant favoritism from him and she loves it, she is her dad's kid thru and thru.
Unfortunately for her, being loved by William comes with it's drawbacks.
Because see in this version of things, he Was being serious about Circus Baby being built specifically for her. Elizabeth doesn't know that this means CB is meant to be the perfect vessel for her immortality, she's only 12 at the time, but CB is special reguardless.
So of course shes still mad when William doesn't want to let her see CB yet. (It's because she hasn't been perfected for Elizabeth yet, she's incomplete.) Due to other circumstances, one day while William is throwing two simultanious parties at the new pizzeria, he has to bring Elizabeth with him even tho he would prefer not to, and Michael as well. So he leaves Michael with one specific task: keep your sister away from the animatronics. (And of course because of his own accident, he already doesn't trust them, so he would have kept an eye anyways.)
At one point his attention gets diverted by some of the guests asking for help, and because he knows his dad would be pissed at him for refusing, he steps away for what he thinks will only take a moment. Elizabeth, finally free for a moment from supervision, knows she finally has a chance to see CB for herself and takes it. Except things go a little differently this time.
CB does still try to grab Elizabeth with her claws, but luckily for her, Michael arrives back just in time to grab her and pull her back from getting snatched, although not without injury.
CB's claw ends up catching Elizabeth in the face instead, leaving her with a fairly nasty scar that goes all the way from her eyebrown down past her cheek. And as a result, not only does she lose William's favor as his golden child because she's now "imperfect" and marked like her brother, but she's also lost Every bit of trust she ever had in her dad. His beloved machine made Specifically for her just tried to kill her and she can never look at him the same way again.
I'll skip over the finer details for now just to keep focus on Elizabeth, but at some point she, Michael and Evan are left alone together, and so Michael does the only thing he can think of and packs all their shit up to go ask Henry if he can take them in. He Really doesn't want to, not after what William did to Charlie, but he knows if he doesn't then the system is going to split the kids up, and so he does take them in, though hes not really a parent to them. They take care of each other for the most part.
But for Elizabeth, she gets to grow up and go thru highschool trying to reconcile how much of her father is in her, and how much of his kid she Still is even when she hates him, and how even after knowing what kind of monster he is...still missing him. Still wanting to be his favorite kid, the one he was the most proud of.
Elizabeth, as it turns out, is a bit of a robotics genius as she grows older. She outshines both her dad and Henry by miles, she learned a lot from watching her dad work for so many years and from pouring over his old journals she managed to get her hands on. She's utterly amazing, but a part of her hates herself for still following in her dads footsteps, and so she tends to limit herself on purpose in fear of turning out like him and somehow making her creations dangerous without intending to. She's continually haunted by the shadow of her father despite being a much better person than he ever was.
The one creation she does actually make and has a lot of pride in in this timeline is actually Helpy lol. (This started as a little joke but then it became serious.) Helpy isnt super advanced, he doesn't talk, but she makes him as a bit of a jokey gift for Michael (who still gets scooped in this timeline, that's its own thing) because she notices he's lonely between helping to look after her and Evan and because he's had to basically hide away from the world now that he's undead. And she doesn't think he's much at first, but Michael loves him. Helpy is his little bestie and he's the first real proof that Elizabeth is capable of doing good where her father didn't, even if she doubts herself a lot.
Theres so much more I could say but this is already so long so I will cap it off here for now. But rest assured you'll hear more about her later ~ I'm working on some art reference for everyone in this au too so I'll post that whenever it's done :)

Ray Carling - Character Headcannons
Tumblr media
- He was raised in a very tough household, where showing any form emotion was considered a weakness
- He lost his mother very young, so unlike Gene his reaction to emotions didn’t come from having to grow up too quickly it came from being raised in a family of soldier men in the 1950s
- One thing he did have in common with his family was football and he bonded with his dad and brothers over their beloved man united, after he met Gene and spent time with him and Chris, his alliance wavered slightly to be more inclined to support man city.
- After bottling the army, and falling into being a copper Ray was enlisted to help control a gay pride parade here he met David Stanley a gay pride protestor his age. Despite his pre conceived ideas, meeting David changed something. He found himself feeling calmer, safer about life. Although he’d never admit it, he felt the same way about Dave Stanley that he did about his girlfriend when he was 17.
- Sadly, when coming back from a football game together, a car ran a red light, killing David instantly. As he was a well known gay rights protestor, the police never bothered to investigate properly. This fuelled a lot of his anger and ultimately contributed to his killing of a suspect.
- In his first days as part of DCI Hunt’s team he was involved in a raid where they found several abandoned dogs. One of which took a real shine to Ray. Despite the teasing from CID, Ray found himself growing fond of the dog and ended up adopting him. He named him Stan, after David Stanley.
He was not a music fan but did have songs he loved.
Let it be - The Beatles
Fire and Rain - James Taylor
Yesterday Once More - The Carpenters
Can’t take my Eyes off you - Frankie Valli
He was never really a massive book or cinema fan, and mostly just passed the the evenings by watching whatever happened to be on tv.
These included: Quincy, The Rockford Files, Panorama and Tomorrow’s World.

Q: This is a real life "what would you do." You have been hired as a guard instructor for a top 10 DCI World color guard ( top 5 the previous year)based on your skills, expertise, and reputation.. .on your first day on the job, the twenty-year-old female flag captain walks up to you and says, "Hi, my name is XX and I am the flag captain. We don't want you here. Please leave." How would you handle this situation (it happened an hour ago)?
"Would you like to come with me to talk to the caption head about what you said, or shall I go alone?"
I wasn't there, I don't know you, and I don't know the situation. But here is what I do know:
It is absolutely not appropriate for a captain to "address" an issue by speaking to anyone the way she spoke to you. The first thing that needs to be conveyed is how absolutely unacceptable her approach was - is that how she thinks her job should be done? Is that how she plans to handle further interpersonal issues? That kind of "leadership" risks not only the success of the season but the future of the program - we've all seen the warnings not to march certain programs and many of them start with someone who says some shit like this.
With that being said, you also need to get to why she said what she did. What is wrong that she felt compelled to make you feel unwelcome in the program? Are you replacing a beloved tech and vets are unhappy with the change? Did you come in like a wrecking ball with a type of teaching style or method that doesn't mesh with what the norm is for the program? Did you make a lot of critiques or give out a lot of punishment? It's possible she has a real point behind the bullshit way she made it. It's also possible it's nonsense. Let her speak either way and try not to interrupt or defend - wait your turn and act professional. Maybe you'll realize you were a little too my way or the highway, maybe you'll realize she just doesn't like you for vague idiot reasons.
At the end of the conversation, she may or may not walk away with a resolution, but you need to walk away knowing your caption head is supporting you and fostering the right kind of culture. It's honestly a bit of a red flag that she felt comfortable enough to do that in the first place... is that abnormal behavior or are the performers allowed to be any type of way without repercussions? Just something to keep an eye on as you move forward.
I hope the situation is handled appropriately and that you can enjoy the rest of the season. What a shitty start.

Murder in Florence by T A Williams (Armstrong and Oscar Cozy Mysteries #3)
A glamourous film star…
Life as a private investigator in the suburbs of Florence isn’t always as glamourous as Dan Armstrong imagined it to be, until he is asked to investigate a recent spate of violent attacks on a Hollywood movie set in Florence. The star of the show, movie-star royalty Selena Gardner, fears her life is in imminent danger… Foul play on set… As Dan investigates, he discovers secrets and scandals are rife within the cast and crew. But with no actual murder, Dan believes these attacks could simply be warnings to someone…until the first body is found. A dangerous killer on the loose. Now Dan and his trusty sidekick Oscar are in a race against time to catch the murderer. But the more Dan uncovers, the more the killer strikes and Dan finds himself caught in the line of fire too! Is this one case Dan and Oscar will regret?

My Review: It can be hard to write something meaningful and interesting after you read and reviewed all the books in a series for blog tours. I love this series and  I think that T.A. Williams is a talented mystery writer, balancing the the style of his romance novel with the elements of a classic mystery. This mix produces gripping and highly entertaining stories that always keep me guessing and turning pages. Dan is the human sleuth, but Oscar is the dog you would like to adopt. I always laugh when it talks about Oscar being always famished as one of my cats is also always famished and on diet. This is the best story in the series and i like how the characters are evolving and the realistic descriptions of Tuscany and Florence Read it and have fun. Many thanks to Boldwood Books for this arc, all opinions are mine
The Author T A Williams is the author of over twenty bestselling romances for HQ and Canelo and is now turning his hand to cosy crime, set in his beloved Italy, for Boldwood. The series will introduce us to retired DCI Armstrong and his labrador Oscar and the first book, entitled Murder in Tuscany, will be published in October 2022. Trevor lives in Devon with his Italian wife.

I’m about to watch S15E30 “Only Human”, this is the liveblog post, people probably get the idea by now. 😆
Edit 1: Lol, Malick complaining about a lift test and Nathan saying “you take the stairs every day”, to which Malick replies “it’s the principle of the thing!”. I suppose he’s got a point!
Edit 2: Jac always looks great when she’s wearing black. It’s a colour that really suits her.
Edit 3: Oof, Jac misreading Mo and thinking she (Mo) knows that she (Jac) has slept with Jonny again... leading to her letting it slip to Mo that she’s slept with Jonny again. Yeah, that’s a bit awkward.
Edit 4: Dom really has always been Dom.
Edit 5: Oh, this is the one where Malick treats the serial killer, isn’t it? In later Holby no one would’ve cared, it’s not like they didn’t see the same thing from their own colleagues. 😩
Edit 6: Ric pointing out that Sacha shouldn’t be involved in treating Rachel because she’s his daughter. Again, remember when Holby cared about this? *cough* Ange operating on Dom *cough*
Edit 7: Sacha’s shirt in this episode is yet another one for the list of great Sacha shirts.
Edit 8: This episode is already being really unsubtle about Chantelle’s autism.
Edit 9: Henrik talking to Malick about Malick treating a serial killer is hilarious. Given... well... who the love of Henrik’s life is.
Edit 10: I do kind of hope that this patient “faking” her disability turns out to actually have something wrong with her that hadn’t been picked up on. I’d much prefer that as a storyline. I guess I’ll have to see how the story plays out though.
Edit 11: Hang on, so about Malick’s patient, the DCI said: “She may not have murdered anyone herself, but we know she helped him [her boyfriend] cover it up.” Ahahahaha that makes Henrik talking to Malick about her even funnier - like, sound like anyone we know?!
Also, Malick’s comment about having seen a lot of “women who will do anything to protect their boyfriends”. Oh, Malick, it’s not just women, as your boss will prove in five series’ time.
Edit 12: Oh my goodness, the patient’s serial killer boyfriend committed suicide. Again, sound like anyone we know?!?!
Also, Malick, my beloved.
Edit 13: Oh, Sacha :( Bob Barrett is so good.
Edit 14: The actress playing Amanda, Malick’s patient, is fantastic.
Edit 15: Rachel :((
Edit 16: “Ego is the distance between one’s capabilities and one’s ambitions. There’s no room for it here.” That’s all very well and good, Henrik, but utterly hypocritical - Mr. Clarke the psychiatrist didn’t call you a narcissist for nothing (I know that didn’t happen until several series later). Come on Henrik, up until, like, the beginning of this series you were making your entire identity revolve around how great you thought you were (or wanted to think you were, rather).
Edit 17: Michael sticking up for Malick!
Edit 18: Sacha is breaking my heart. :(
Edit 19: Jimmy Akingbola is excellent, as always.
I can’t help imagining if this patient storyline had happened later, after Gaskell, and Henrik had been the doctor involved instead. It’s interesting to think about how he would’ve reacted. I can imagine him having a yelling “you said nothing, don’t the families deserve answers” breakdown like Malick did, but obviously it would be coming from a place of projection as much as one of moral anger.
Edit 20: The foreshadowing for Jac being pregnant is quite heavy-handed. She’s literally just said she’d never want offspring with Jonny.
Edit 21: These Sacha scenes really are heartbreaking.
Edit 22: Amanda: “You know, it’s not easy to love someone like me, but Thomas did. Even though I didn’t deserve it.” She is a perfect parallel to Henrik.
Edit 23: That Sacha and Rachel scene. :(
Edit 24: So the Darwin patient was just a generic “faking disability” narrative then, it seems. :/
Edit 25: And there we go, Jac’s pregnant.
Edit 26: I was not expecting Malick getting slapped!
