It's been forever since I've drawn something from DC but here are my personal headcanons between The Heretic, Damian and Respawn!

I was just thinking of Damian Wayne and this idea just popped in my head.
The Damian we have in the comics is a clone.
Not to crazy a theory because there are a bunch of clones of Damian but I don’t mean it in that way.
In an older comic before Damian was introduced to the public a baby named Damian was adopted by a family and we never found out what happened to him and assumed that he probably was retconed (and maybe he was).
It was said that Damian was artificially aged up but wouldn’t Bruce know if he had been with Talia in that way 7 years ago and somehow has a 10 year old kid and someone could say that he may know about the artificial aging up because of Heretic but I think he would make some what of a big deal out of it (he’s Bruce!!!).
So thinking that Bruce thought that Talia lied to him for ten years about Damian and doesn’t know that Damian was artificially aged up then he wouldn’t have much to question if Damian was a clone and the only comparison he would have to tell if Damian was a clone would be Heretic and Bruce wouldn’t touching him with a twelve foot pole.
So my theory is that Talia after fully realizing that she was going to be having a baby with her beloved may have also realized that she doesn’t want to put her child through what she had to go through or have her child be apart of Batman’s endless crusade against crime. So she lies to Bruce and has original Baby Dami and puts him up for adoption to a very kind family that she trust to take care of her baby and will allow him to have a normal life and begins making clones with original baby Dami’s dna and then when she get out Damian she artificially ages him up and begins his training and I feel like she still cares about the clones because they are her sons but she feels less guilty about training one because she made him for that exact purpose and along the way did grow to care for the clone of her son/the Damian we all know but still keeps her distance emotionally.
So I just think that somewhere out in the world there is a Damian that is just an average kid and living the life of an everyday person with his two adopted parents living happily ever after. And that thought makes me happy

Bad Batboys
kay people maybe I’m wrong — God knows the Sea of canon is deep and lots of its depth remains unexplored by my ass boat — but I think I noticed a pattern, and that’s that Damian is the only Batboy without a past/future/alternate timeline villain self.
Dick Grayson ——> Renegade
Jason Todd ——> Red Hood
Tim Drake ——> Joker Jr
NO the Heretic doesn’t count he’s another person created BECAUSE Damian flipped the bird to his mother
NO assassin childhood doesn’t count, 1) what was he gonna do as a baby don’t be an ass 2) he doesn’t have a NAME
*all Batman versions excluded. Seriously look what it did to my babygirl Jean-Paul, clearly you can’t be held responsible for anything you did under the pointy ears

to me, heretic, respawn and damian are all happy brothers. now i understand why people hate respawn and ignore heretic because their origins are messed up and racist. it reinforces the idea of the al ghuls being sooo abusive but also, i don’t feel like the characters are exactly to blame for that and whether or not we like it, they are going to exist.
damian’s origin was once problematic, i mean the first thing we knew about him was that he was conceived in sa but we got emotionally attached to him. and that got retconned.
i just really wanted to utilize his already existing family and see a sibling dynamic between the al ghuls even if i have to make up half of it because pick one: see damian be happy with tim or see damian be happy with respawn.
oh i absolutely pick respawn.
all these characters have been through so much bs, it’d be nice to depict the opposite even if its just a nice lie.

Wait, we have a new Bruce clone...and somehow Respawn is also alive right? I'm losing track of all the clones Bruce and Damian have. There are too many. I almost feel like we need another story like the one in Robin: Son of Batman where all the Damian clones drowned when the island sank. As sad as it was.

Since I've got nothing to do, I decided to share a scene from the comics that destroyed me.
But before that I need to give you some information. This post is about Damian's death.
Before his fight with Heretic, Bruce orders Damian to stay inside because it's dangerous.
Tumblr media
But of course he doesn't stay in. Instead he tells Alfred that he needs to help Bruce. And eventually he convinces Alfred.
Tumblr media
We all know what happens after that. Damian dies by the hands of the Heretic.
Then time passes, and everyone is grieving. But Bruce is devastated and builds a simulation machine that replicates the fight between Damian and the Heretic.
The purpose of the machine is for Bruce to prove to himself that he could've saved Damian. If only he was faster and stronger etc.
However in every single simulation he fails and keeps seeing Damian die and die. He doesn't give up however and keeps going for 4 days.
Eventually, Alfred being worried, call Dick to talk some sense into Bruce. Dick, not being able to convince Bruce, goes into the simulation with him and manages to save Damian and kill Heretic by stabbing a pole through his chest.
Bruce then agrees to take a break and leaves. We are then left alone in the cave with Alfred. But it doesn't end there, and this happens:

Honestly, this hurt me more than seeing Bruce's grieving. And it does make sense that he'd blame himself.
Anyways just wanted to share this...

Heretic: *fucking up a bowl of chicken*
Damian, horrified: how could you do that?
Heretic: Do what?
Damian, angered: Devour that innocent animal!
Respawn, grabbing a piece: Are there… guilty animals? Pretend they’re that.
Heretic: Nah, the innocence adds flavor.

Another Twin Au: D and T: Danyal And Talia
Also, potential Spirit Halloween.
Ra's had two children, Danyal Al Ghul and Talia Al Ghul, the Demon's Daughter and the Demon's Son. Talia might have been firstborn, but she was neglected over her father favoring Danyal.
Danyal was treated better than she was, and while Danyal didn't understand Talia's jealousy, he still tried to help her. Like for instance, Talia had a fight to prove her loyalty to the Al Ghul line and was tasked to fight to the death, Danyal seeing how tired she was from training, he poisoned the fighters, so that his sister could win and survive.
Even when Ra's schemed to transfer his mind into Danyal's body, he was overwhelmed by Danyal's spirit and was not able to do the transfer.
Danyal liked to play tricks on new recruits to the league, and when Bruce was there, he pretended to be his sister. (As Danyal constant exposure to the pits made his eyes green)
Talia was only able to develop a relationship with Bruce outside the compound, but Danyal and Bruce's love story was very brief. ( And maybe Bruce liked Danyal more as he could be bargained to live with Bruce, unlike his sister who was devoted to her father)
Ra's would have liked the detective with either of his children, but it was not to be.
In fact, when Talia was planning on wedding Bruce, Danyal was sent for extra protection and liked the little Robin (Dick) despite being on opposite sides. So, when Talia acquires Bruce's sperm to make Damian, Ra's did a test to see which sibling produced better offspring, and unfortunately, Danyal's won. So, Damian was the son of the Bat and Demon, but of Bruce and Danyal. The thing is that Talia and Danyal are identical twins, just one boy and one girl. So, Talia assumes Damian is hers by default, and when creating Heretic, she uses her DNA.
Danyal was someone more connected with the pits than anyone knew and spent some time with the spiritualists of the league. Danyal was there when Jason was in the league and tried to curb his most violent fits, and sometimes took care of Damien in the league along with Jason.
Now, unfortunately, during Ra's coup, Talia, sick of her brother favoritism, pushes Danyal into the pits where he doesn't resurface.
(A few years in Danny Phantom world is a few days in the DC verse, so Danyal as Danny Fenton speedruns the DP life, becomes phantom, follows cannon lore, except doesn't really stay in Amity Park afterwords, closes the two portals, and goes to find his original dimension, where Damien is about to sacrificed to the pit by Talia, believing she can make more, with the bats present kills him.
More in part 2...
