Arguing With Your Sister Pt 7

‘You sure you want to do this?’ you asked looking up at Carisi as you stood outside your parents apartment block.

           ‘Y/N you’ve been to my parent’s house, been round my family before now, don’t you think it’s time I met yours?’ asked Carisi stroking the side of your face.

           ‘That would have been a bit more convincing if you don’t already work with them’ you said making Carisi chuckle and press his lips to yours chastely.

           ‘Come on’ whispered Carisi taking hold of your hand and walking into the apartment block towards the elevator.

           Knocking on the door to your parent’s apartment you felt Carisi squeeze your hand calming any nerves you had. It wasn’t your parents who answered but your brother Michael who grinned up at you before faulted at seeing Carisi.

           ‘It’s ok Michael this is Sonny, remember I said he would be coming with me this weekend’ you said softly watching as Michaels face lit into a smile at Carisi’s nickname.

           ‘Sonny like after the sun?’ asked Michael peering up at Carisi who crouched down.

           ‘After my Great-Great Grandfather, but yeah after the sun too’ spoke Carisi softly to Michael aware of his autism.  

           ‘Cool’ said Michael simply before walking back into the apartment.

           ‘Michael, hold up what have Mami and Papi said about opening the door to the apartment?’ you called after the 10 year old.

           ‘Not to, I’m sorry’ said Michael hanging his head.

           ‘It’s fine, be careful next time ok?’ you asked as Carisi hung up your jackets.

           ‘Ok, I go get Mami and Papi’ said Michael before darting to the kitchen leaving you and Carisi in the hall.

           ‘Ready for hurricane Barba?’ you asked making your way into the living area.

           ‘I’m familiar with his cut downs, yes’ chuckled Carisi right before your parents walked into the room.

           ‘Carisi, what you doing here?’ asked your Mother in surprise.

           ‘Hi Laura’ smiled Carisi.

           ‘Carisi you been seeing my daughter?’ hissed Barba.

           ‘Papi, please, yes I’m seeing Sonny, have been for the last 10 months now’ you admitted watching as your Father’s chest swelled up.

           ‘10 months, 10 months you’ve been coming into my office looking me in the eye, while behind my back you’ve been seeing my daughter’ hissed Barba towards Carisi.

           ‘Councillor I would never hurt Y/N, I love her I promise I’m going to take care of her’ spoke Carisi with so much emotion it brought tears to your eyes.

           ‘Rafi, please stop, Sonny come help me in the kitchen, I could do with your culinary prowess’ said your Mother turning and heading back to the kitchen with Carisi trailing after her, leaving you with your Father.

           ‘Y/N of all people, Detective Staten Island?’ sighed Barba pinching his nose.

           ‘Yeah Papi Sonny, you better get used to seeing us together, I love him too’ you said walking and sitting on the couch.

           ‘Ok, ok, I’ll be civil, happy?’ grumbled Barba making you chuckle.

           ‘You can be such a drama queen Papi’ you giggled, as Barba joined you pulling into his side for a hug.

           ‘Hmm, only for you kids, I’m glad you’re happy Y/N’ admitted Barba pulling away.

           ‘Me too’ you smiled right as you broke the embrace in time for Michael to run into the room with his latest art work project.

           ‘What’s this buddy?’ you asked as Michael gave the large sheet.

           ‘I started my end of year project and the title is Who Am I? I didn’t know what to do, but I thought my Autism would be good, only I can’t decide how to give it an image’ said Michael as you looked at the paper that appeared to hold a pencil scribble.

           ‘Well maybe you don’t need to give it an image’ you suggested thoughtfully looking to Michael.

           ‘What do you mean?’ frowned Michael in confusion.

           ‘Maybe you should give it a word then an image’ you suggested watching Michael frown at the scribble.

           ‘Don’t worry, you’ll figure it out, besides I believe you have 5 more months till the project is due in’ you said eyeing Michael knowingly, who blushed.

           ‘If he only he had the same enthusiasm for his other subjects’ said Barba pushing to his feet as a knock came from the door, ruffling Michaels hair as he walked past.

           ‘Go put it away Michael, mayhem is about to ensue’ you said giving back his project.

           As Michael ran off you got to your feet and made your way to the kitchen finding Carisi and your Mother giggling as they cooked. Walking in you leaned against the side of the worktop that Carisi was using and pressed a kiss to his cheek as he seasoned the vegetables in the pan.

           ‘Hey I thought you were with Barba’ smiled Carisi as he put the vegetables in the oven before turning back to you.

           ‘The doorbell went, didn’t really want to be in the firing line so soon’ you said with a shrug.

           ‘Come on it won’t be that bad, and if it is we can leave ok’ said Carisi placing his hands on either side of you on the worktop and placing his forehead to yours.

           ‘Promise?’ you whispered your eyes shutting as Carisi brushed his lips with your own.

           ‘Promise’ said Carisi giving you a soft kiss. Breaking apart Carisi slipped his hand into your own, entwining your fingers you both walked out into the living room.

           ‘Hey Y/N’ smiled Lucia softly as you and Carisi stood silently at the side.

           ‘Hi Abuelita’ you said softly with a smile.

           ‘Hello Y/N’ said Lacy with a strained smiled.

           ‘Hi Lac, you ok?’ you asked tensing but feeling Carisi’s soft squeeze to your hand that he still held.

           ‘Hopefully’ shrugged Lacy making you nod.

           ‘Good, that’s good, umm Abuelita this is Sonny, Sonny this my Abuelita’ you said noticing Lucia eyeing Carisi.

           ‘Oh yes Rafi has spoken about you often, it’s lovely to meet you, and it’s about time Y/N is happy’ grinned Lucia greeting Carisi with a handshake while both you and Rafael blanched slightly.

           ‘Mami, please…’ started Rafael only to be stopped by his Mothers glare.

           ‘Now come on Sonny, I’ve heard from Laura you’re an excellent cook’ said Lucia guiding Carisi back into the kitchen.

           ‘Play nice Rafael’ said Laura kissing her husband’s cheek and going into the kitchen giving you a squeeze to the shoulder.

           ‘Right, I guess we are all banned from the kitchen’ shrugged Rafael making you grin.

           ‘Probably best’ you said as you followed Rafael and sat on the couch next to him.

           ‘Yes well, but honestly Y/N Dominick Carisi’ said Rafael making you roll your eyes.

           ‘Papi, please get over it’ you sighed hearing Lacy giggle you shot her a small smile as she sat on the other side of Rafael just how you use to when you were younger.

           ‘But he works with me and your Mother’ exclaimed Rafael running his hand through his hair.

           ‘Really! I truly had no idea’ you said making Rafael roll his eyes making both Lacy and Michael; who had sat on the floor in front of the couch, giggle.

           ‘Ok, ok, I’ll play nice’ sighed Rafael.

           ‘Papi you giving up so quick’ said Lacy teasingly making you smirk.

           ‘Hey don’t you start’ said Rafael with no bite.

           ‘Sonny’s like the sun Papi, you should be nice’ said Michael making you grin at yet another eye roll.

           ‘Why are you three ganging up on me?’ said Rafael with a soft scowl making Michael jump up onto his lap as both you and Lac leant into his sides.

           ‘Because we love you Papi’ said Michael softly, making Rafael kiss each of you on the tops of your heads.

           ‘And I love you my three amigos’ said Rafael using the nickname he gave you as children.

           ‘Papi’ you and Lacy groaned together, causing you all to laugh together.

           And the evening went on from there, you finally felt as though you had your little sister and best friend back.

It’s been a long time I didn’t post anything, I was bit overwhelmed by the work this last weeks but I got finally some free time ^^ ! Many good things happened to me since the begenning of the year. Indeed I get the honor to make the official illustration for the CARTOON Forum 2017 ! It s an european forum organized by CARTOON to help studio and artists to meet and find some funding for TV projects in development ! 

It was a great pleasure and honor to work with them. They totally let me free about the direction and the illustration’s work. I hope you like it as much as I like to work on it !

I’ve always thought that my dad and I were complete opposites but in reality, we’re quite similar. We always butted heads while I was growing up. We never saw eye to eye, but he always loved me unconditionally anyways. We’re both the ‘glass is half full’ kind of people and we both are in professions where we help people. So, my dad is a retired hospital and US Air Force Chaplin and he was a minister. I grew up going to church and listening to my dad deliver sermons and speak his truth and what he believes in in an effort to help people. Well, sometimes I listened..sorry dad...haha. It really parallels with teaching yoga and this new online business that I’ve started. Speaking your truth, showing up and being authentic, leading by example and being the best version of yourself. I love to inspire and support people and both my dad and I love helping people and bringing out the best in everyone. There’s nothing better than seeing someone smile and feel better about themselves, living a stress free life and feeling ‘free’ in whatever way that means to you. I’ve always been a pretty happy go lucky girl and I love my life...it’s pretty good I have to say. I really owe that to my parents and all the people in my life who have loved, inspired and supported me and I just wanna share that with the world.
