Something had gone wrong. There were members flooding back to the Estate - many in a state of shock. A woman’s cry echoed through Severus’ ears as lower level members and affiliates were being brought to him in batches for healing. These missions always ended with chaos, but nothing quite like he was witnessing. All for that bloody orb that kept bringing upheaval to The Order, civilians, and both the magical and non-magical world. The same orb that slaughtered Muggles because of his mistakes. The same mistakes that had him ending up back at the Estate - helping heal others rather than go on the mission. However, Severus took it in stride. He had to prove himself capable. He had to make up for the devastation he caused. 

With steady hands and a focused mind, Severus worked quite skillfully with the other healers. His resolve was solid - only concentrating on the tasks at hand. The only cries he truly listened to were the ones telling him the spells used or where the pain was. All others were muddled with confusing sobs about what had happened at that damn wedding. Severus tuned them out, keeping hard at work, when he suddenly heard a familiar call of one of his favorite nicknames. Turning to see Dorcas, Severus finished the task at hand before asking, “What happened out there?”

Ainsley could barely force herself to focus; her head was spinning, her stomach coiled into icy knots, her hands shaking -- but much as she wanted to just run out into the garden and scream, she couldn’t. The presence of the other guests (guests! ha!) wouldn’t have stopped her, but the sight of her little sister’s beaming smile held her in place as solidly as an Impediment Jinx. For Nessie’s sake, Ainsley had to swallow her rising gorge and force a smile onto her face and pretend that everything was okay...

Even though nothing would be okay ever, ever again.

Warm brown eyes caught hers from above a warmer smile, and Ainsley’s heart -- which she had thought could sink no lower -- plummeted. Why had she invited Amelia to this? Why had she thought that it would ever be a good idea to bring someone she cared about into this house? Into this...this inescapable disaster?

But just as with the rest of it, there was no way out; Ainsley could practically feel eyes on her as she walked forward to meet Amelia’s greeting. She was a vision in yellow, fine beading and a gauzy cape -- a perfect fit to the fine room. Nothing Ainsley could have said to convince her to leave was something that was safe to say. Ainsley was committed -- to all of it. She could only hope that no one was going to get hurt because of her...even as she knew, knew past any doubts or hopes, that that was inevitable. Please not Amelia, though, she thought desperately, as though fate or Death Eaters alike ever cared what someone wished.

“I...hello,” she said. She had to say something. “I’m glad you came,” she said, although she wasn’t, not anymore. “You look lovely,” she said and that, at least, was true -- maybe the last true thing she would be able to say tonight...or ever. Ainsley smiled for Amelia, and wondered fleetingly what would happen if she grabbed the other witch’s hand and just ran -- the two of them, away from all of this, away from the war, from the Rosiers, from everything, just run away together before it was too late...

Behind her, Ainsley heard Nessie laugh, and knew she would stay.

Accidental Rescue

Dorcas was going to murder Ndulue Travers. One scream, one blast of shattered glass, and the wix was gone? Were they part of the Order of the Phoenix or not? If you were fighting in a war, you had to be prepared to stand your ground when things got scary!

Not that Dorcas was exactly standing hers right now -- but that was only because she was running instead. Straight down the upper stairs and through the ugly scene in the hallway (don’t think about James, dead on the floor; don’t think about James, dead in Lucius Malfoy’s stupid robes; don’t think about James, dead!) counting on the weight of Perpetua Bullstrode’s reputation and the perceived frailty of her erstwhile “age” to bully her through the little gathering crowd -- no one would think she’d had anything to do with it, after all, and of course the old lady would want to get away from the trouble and sit somewhere quiet, right?

Dorcas wasn’t doing that, either. Instead, she had shoved her way through the steadily-increasing chaos of a posh party beginning to turn to panic, looking for Emma. Where was she? Was she all right? Daisy-slash-Igor couldn’t possibly be trusted to keep Emma safe by herself; Daisy hadn’t even used a wand in a year! She was useless, that’s why she’d been stuck on distraction duty rather than one something useful like Dorcas -- but Emma had been stuck there with her, to make her look good, and now Emma was in danger and Dorcas couldn’t find her and--

There! Soft brown curls, just a flash of them through the glitter of the guests and the eerily-increasing number of silver masks dotted amongst their number, but it was enough for Dorcas to lunge forward and grab a pale arm with Perpetua’s strong, wrinkled hand. “Are you all right? I’m here, don’t worry about the Death Eaters, I’ll get you out of here,” she barked with her deep, commanding Old Lady Voice -- and realized only too late that this wasn’t Emma.

You could say we’ve taken this too far. You could be right. You could also say that, for a Line of Duty fan attempting to solve the Jo Davidson family mystery, it’s useful to know that Tommy Hunter was 13 years old when Jo Davidson was born, making him more likely to be her brother than her father. Or that John Corbett was born two months after Jo Davidson, making it impossible for his mother Anne-Marie McGillis to also be her mother.

And then there are the real questions, such as: the day before AC-12 raided Hillside Lane Station in series six, it was Kate Fleming’s 35th birthday. Did she bring in doughnuts? Had Kate come in worse for wear from one too many glasses of white in Frederico’s with Jo? The people demand to know.

Sharon was a child bride?!

So I just watched a few MC episodes so I can get a closer look at some things for my fic and noticed that Sharon and Jack's date of marriage was February 31, 1972 (whoever thought about this date should be ashamed) and their date of separation was September 14, 1982. 

If we consider that around S3 he Sharon was in her late 50's according to JD's & MM's 2015 Reddit, that makes her 14-16 years old at the time of marriage if she was 57-59 at the time of the Reddit. So apparently Sharon is a child bride & a teen mom?! [insert dramatic eyeroll] 

That information was shared with the fandom by JD a while after episode 3x06 where the above document with their marriage and separation dates was shown to the fandom.

However, in ep. 7x18 of The Closer, Sharon says that Jack already passed the bar when they got married, which, if she was 16 or younger at the time makes their marriage possibly illegal (IDK what the law was in the early 70s). That said, the date on the document and the information Sharon gave about the length of her marriage before the separation do match, as she alludes to only being legally married to Jack for 10 years. 

Now, if we ignore the illogical marriage date, and assume that Sharon was the exact same age as Mary during the show, then it would make Sharon 20 at the time of their marriage, which would make SO MUCH MORE SENSE. And even then, there would still be discrepancies between that and other information given on the show.

That's what happens when you don't pay attention to your character's background & don't know that we fans nitpick EVERYTHING we see. Like noticing a date that doesn't actually exist (Feb 31? Really?) or Sharon's kids' birth order. But we're just irrational fangirls, right?

Alright, SO: I spent about an hour last night going through dates and doing the math, and I think I've got a pretty good timeline of important character moments + ages (though a lot of this is guesswork so don't hold me to it). Canon-confirmed items are bolded.

1982 - Daisy born?

1987 - Martin born

1988 - Basira and Jon born?

1994 - Leitner's library fell

1996 - Jon, 8 years old, finds one of the lost Leitners

2000 - Daisy joins the police, must be at least 18 (this is what I'm basing her age on)

July 24, 2002 - Daisy's first run-in with the Coffin

2004 - Martin drops out of school, age 17

2009 - Martin is working at the Institute, age 22

2010 - Basira joins the police. I'm assuming she's at least 22, and went through college first (this is what I'm basing her age on)

Aug 2011 - Basira gets Sectioned

2011 - Daisy makes her first kill

2012 - Jon joins the Institute. Assuming he joined right after finishing a two year Master's degree, he'd be 24 (this is what I'm basing his age on)

The Frogs Re-emerge in 2020

with Unreleased “1st” Album

More than a vast departure from The Frogs previous works, it’s an arrival at the beginning. It’s the “1st” original debut album. Recorded within the realms of time stamped January 1986, presents 12 songs & 8 unreleased bonus tracks. Understanding correctly, “1st” aka “Pat’s Session” was intended to be the initial release by brothers Dennis & Jimmy Flemion prior to “The Frogs” 1988 self-titled debut. Minneapolis based Twin/Tone Records (Soul Asylum, The Replacements label at the time) approached The Frogs & expressed fawning interest, extending an invitation to record the band after their 1985, 7th Street Entry live performance (First Avenue’s sister club).

It was at this point, the famous fork in the road, where The Frogs opted to record closer to home, thus the path deviated a few weeks later to Nexus Recording Studio in Waukesha, Wisconsin. 12 rapid fire songs emerged & were captured on reel to reel, one night, recorded live, first take, no overdubs. Upon playback review, the late Dennis Flemion (d.7/7/2012), opted not to release due to the overabundance of reverb. Throughout the years the discussion would persist from other sources on pursuing to fix the reverb on “1st”. Thirty-two years later, in 2018 Jimmy would take the recordings to a Portland, Oregon recording studio to remaster. The studio engineer successfully cleaned-up & removed the excess reverb. As a result, David Swider from End of All Music Records, expressed further interest in a follow up to the 2019, 30th Anniversary reissue “It’s Only Right And Natural”.

The vibrant album is just as relevant today, as it was 34 years ago. Rocking, straight ahead electric guitar, drums & bass coming right at you, tight in control & at times out of control. The music is melodic, raw, beckoning, smothered in darkness, occasionally flickering lights liven up the festivities. Goth, maybe pop, perhaps punk, reimagining journeys & paths gone awry. You will find yourself one way or another, in a maze of mystery & in the midst of swampy waters, kings, businessmen, Christians, volcano gods, gurus & dungeons. Life & death, hope & darkness, the songs that took their form between the span of 1982-85, give a glimpse into the psyche of the then 20 something brothers. It’s the duality The Frogs take to heart lyrically & musically that always keep you wondering & guessing, seeing it from all sides with colorful eyes.

This has been a long time coming. The album that almost never was until now! I'm thrilled to say it is finished! There was a lot of love and intention that went into bringing "1st" into fruition. The party was over -- ended in death and disaster, rather than the laughter and dancing that Nessie had hoped for, but for once Ainsley wasn’t thinking about her sister's certain disappointment; her eyes couldn't seem to blink away the sight of James Potter's lifeless face, ash-blonde hair slowly shrinking back to black and cold gray eyes turning brown and vibrant only to fade to a lifeless mirror as bleak as a window’s broken glass. She hadn’t even seen it, but she still couldn’t erase the image from her mind...

Why had she come back? Ainsley felt like the Rosier’s estate herself: battered, broken, strewn with debris. House-elves already scurried around the wreckage, putting things to right, repairing the damage -- repairing most of it, anyway; some old and priceless treasures could never be fixed, like friendship...like James. No house-elf had the sort of magic that could fix him -- or herself. Why had she come back? Ainsley should have taken Nessie and kept running, could have left without ever knowing the extent of the damage, but her sister had insisted on returning to make sure that Jayesh was okay. Why had AInsley listened? She should have known that there would be nothing good to find here.

There was laughter and smiles in the ruined party’s aftermath, though, albeit no dancing; and most of those smiles were hidden behind cold silver masks. The chatter of their voices passed over Ainsley like jawing crows: hints of fragmentary words but no sense, no substance or sentences. She could feel strange hands clap her shoulder, strange laughs grate across her ears, strange voices praise her name…

"Didn't think you'd have it in you, Abbott!"

"Should have know better than to underestimate Vanessa's sister, eh?"

"Never thought you'd actually make the cut, but not an ounce of hesitation in you, is there? Bravo!"

"Admit I had my doubts you'd be any use, but you've proved me wrong…"

"Don't think I've seen a more impressive initiation since Bellatrix herself and those three mudbloods!"

"B-but I'm not...that isn't wh-what…"

"He's come himself, you know. Wants to meet you. A great honor, for a fresh recruit especially. But we've wanted Potter's head for quite a while. Yes, He is most impressed. I wouldn't be surprised if He decides you've earned your Mark already."

"He?" Ainsley asked, although she had a sinking feeling it wasn't a question -- and then the door opened and a figure cloaked in black swept in, Bellatrix Lestrange -- the real Bellatrix Lestrange -- unmasked, on his heels. Ainsley opened her mouth to speak again, to protest--

But then the newcomer threw his hood back, revealing a gaunt face that might have once been handsome but was now sepulchral, the waxy skin stretched tight across sharp cheekbones and a razorblade nose, teeth bared in something that might have been a smile and might have been something preparatory to a bite -- and eyes, red eyes, cat-slitted and burning like a blood moon in that pale face.

Those eyes locked on Ainsley's and the rest of the room seemed to fall away. She felt like she was standing in a mist, oddly lethargic and hollow, although her mind was racing -- memories poured out across her numb senses: Nessie, laughing and young; Edgar, even younger, up in Ravenclaw Tower, ink on his nose; Amelia's lips, soft and warm, the beads of her yellow dress caressing Ainsley's fingers like hot coals; Nessie's tears over Jayesh, the plan they devised: the bribe of the clerk at the Ministry, the fake family tree; Dumbledore and Caradoc, the Order; her first battle; her first kill, whose name she'd never learned beneath that silver mask; the bleeding curse that had killed Peggy while Ainsley failed at every cure she tried to cast; the iron fence that had almost bisected Marlene; the false Orb that had nearly stymied her and Gideon both; the party, the fancy robes.. the silver masks, with their awful offer...Nessie, crumpling around a spell; Leina Nott, dead in her home; Lucius's face fading back to James, the heat of Ainsley’s Curse still warm on her frozen hands…

And somewhere, someone was laughing, high and cold and cruel. "Yes," a voice said, "oh yes, what a delight this is… Yes, do it!"
