I have been drifting back to STAR WARS fandom lately and I have been greatly rewarded for it, especially in the gen fic veins, because there have been some banger fics authors have been putting out! And the thing that really gets me in the fannish heart is that there's more and more fics about the Jedi, both for exploring the characters and the culture. I have been able to find multiple fics that have been kind to Mace Windu! I have been able to find multiple fics that explain what attachment actually is to the Jedi and to Star Wars! I have been able to find multiple fics that lift my spirit up or punch me in the feelings in exactly the right way, both for the usual disaster lineage faves, but also for the Jedi as a whole. I'm serious, that means the world to me in this fandom, and I desperately want to share that with you all. LET ME SHOVE FIC AT YOU THAT LOVES THESE CHARACTERS AND THIS WORLD AS MUCH AS I DO!!
FICS THAT PUNCHED ME IN THE FACE WITH HOW GOOD THEY WERE: ✦ wayfinding by night by wrennette, obi-wan & luke & cast, time travel, 10.2k     Before him stood a fellow Jedi, worn and weary with loss. Obi-Wan finds himself on Ahch-To and helps Luke find a path through his grief. ✦ may you inherit his light by notbecauseofvictories, leia & bail & anakin & cast, 2.5k     When your father dies, say the Coruscanti, you are left clutching a star map for a different galaxy. In this, as in many things, Leia is her fathers' daughter. ✦ No Freedom From the Storm (But Peace In Its Midst) by Be_Right_Back, mace & cast, ~1k     Mace is freefalling. On his way down, he meets Hatred, and reaches for Serenity. ✦ "...if you remain his student" by Peppermint_Shamrock, anakin & ahsoka & cast, 3.9k     Ahsoka doesn't leave the Jedi Order. This does not save Anakin. This was never going to save Anakin. Nor stop him. ✦ a distant fire is burning by e_va, obi-wan & anakin & ahsoka & cal, time travel, 47.4k wip     Cal Kestis can move backwards in time (kinda-sorta-not really), and his confrontation with Darth Vader in the Fortress Inquisitorius plays out a lot differently. Fixing the timeline while stuck in his 10-year-old body will be quite the task, but Cal is up to it. He has to be. (Obi-Wan, Anakin, and the clone troopers have no idea what to make of Kenobi's weird new padawan. At least the kid fits in, though.) ✦ No Death, Only the Force by ExtraPenguin, anakin & mace & depa & shmi, 2.8k     Anakin Skywalker is just about to to free his mother from the Tuskens when the Force rudely yanks him to the Jedi Temple on Coruscant – and into Mace Windu's body. Mace, on the other hand, gets tossed into Anakin's body on Tatooine. ✦ Well Met by avocadomoon, obi-wan/padme (unconsumated) & corde & anakin, 19k     "Here and then gone again," Padmé said. "It must be lonely." "Sometimes," Obi-Wan said. "But a Jedi is never truly alone."
THIS FANDOM HAS A HAMMER AND A WHOLE BUNCH OF NAILS AND A REALLY GOOD STAPLE GUN, WE'RE FIXING WHAT CANON BROKE AND NOBODY CAN STOP US NOT EVEN GOD: ✦ Begin again by mauvera, obi-wan & qui-gon & anakin & padme & mace & dooku & cast, time travel, 78.9k     Five years into his self imposed exile on Tattooine, Obi-Wan Kenobi is gifted the chance to go back and bring hope back to the galaxy. With hindsight on his side, he fully intends to save his master, save his padawan, make some new and old friends again, prepare the Jedi for a war they’ll hopefully never see and begin to pull apart all the many tangled threads of the Sith Lord’s plans. ✦ Repetition by Peppermint_Shamrock, cody & obi-wan, time loop, 3k     Cody wakes up from a nightmare on the way to Utapau, again and again.
CANON-COMPLIANT (MOSTLY, UP TO A CERTAIN POINT, WHATEVER) DISASTER LINEAGE: ✦ it's like i can feel time moving by gigglesandfreckles, obi-wan & anakin & ahsoka, 5.4k     “Hi,” Anakin says. It's after midnight. “Is everything alright?” “Can’t a man stop by his old master’s room?” Obi-Wan stares at him blankly. “Are you out of food?” ✦ yes, I will take you / I will love you, again by foreverstudent, obi-wan & anakin & cast, time travel, 2.5k     "So you have tried, Padawan." Qui-Gon takes a moment, and his expression is steely but not unkind--the one Obi-Wan remembers from particularly grueling training sessions. "Would you try again, if you had the chance?" OWK!Obi-Wan gets another chance, with a child he once left behind. ✦ No Good Deed Goes Unpunished by kittona, obi-wan & anakin & ahsoka, 1.1k     Anakin gets a bit overprotective when his loved ones are sick. Luckily, he has the best home remedy for a cold. ✦ nothing a cup of tea can't fix by gigglesandfreckles, obi-wan & anakin & ahsoka, 1.5k     when Anakin shows up to Obi-Wan's quarters in the middle of the night, the Jedi Master knows something has gone awry. answering Anakin's desperate cry for help, Obi-Wan is reminded of how very, very prone to dramatics his former padawan and grand padawan are. or Ahsoka gets sick and Anakin flips his shit. ✦ Stick Figures by KCKenobi, obi-wan & anakin & ahsoka, 2k     war is hard. war is draining. to make it more bearable, little mementos* are routinely given. *mementos: encouraging notes, funny little drawings, little gifts, fun snacks, and poems which might get Anakin in trouble. ✦ When the Ground Breaks by stolen_pen_name23, obi-wan & anakin & ahsoka, 4.7k     An earthquake causes devastation on the planet of Berchest. Obi-Wan, Anakin, and Ahsoka work together to help save civilians until disaster pulls them apart. ✦ never fear, young one by marverse, obi-wan & ahsoka & cast, 6.2k     Ever since her first day of being a padawan, Ahsoka Tano remembers the words that Master Skywalker had once told her. And every time, she wonders, wonders, and wonders. ✦ the street's a little kinder when you're home by gigglesandfreckles, obi-wan & anakin, 5.2k     "So catch me up," Anakin says. "What did I miss?” Nothing. Nothing happens when you’re gone. “Oh, the usual.” [or: anakin goes missing. obi-wan doesn't handle it well.] ✦ holding anchor by foreverstudent, obi-wan & anakin & ahsoka, 3.2k     At the landing of Point Rain, an injured Obi-Wan allows himself to be sentimental over his former padawan, and Anakin patches up his old master. ✦ Nothing to Say by KCKenobi, obi-wan & anakin & satine, 3.2k     (or: Anakin and Satine don’t know how to talk to each other. Until they remember the very important thing they have in common.) ✦ Aggressive Negotiations by SkyBlue1309, obi-wan & anakin & cast, 2.2k     People forget that Anakin was raised by the Negotiator. He was bound to pick up on a thing or two. ✦ At The Window by Peppermint_Shamrock, obi-wan & anakin, ~1k     In the early days of Anakin's apprenticeship, Obi-Wan searches for him in the Temple. ✦ The Words by Ibelin, obi-wan & anakin, 3.9k     Obi-Wan Kenobi has never said I love you in his life. He can say a lot of other things, though.
JEDI CULTURE AND WORLDBUILDING AND CELEBRATION: ✦ Refractions of Light by Independence1776, ezra & kanan, 1.3k     Kanan celebrates a Jedi holiday with Ezra. ✦ The grand outing by Ingata, dooku & sifo-dyas & obi-wan & bant & garen & reeft & yoda & cast, 4.5k     Eight younglings and two Jedi masters on a field trip. What could possibly go wrong? ✦ into the statue that breathes by spoonks, obi-wan & feemor & cast, 8.5k     The night watch in the garden was supposed to be the calmest of them all. No mischievous Padawans “sneaking” in or out, or ne’er-do-well civilians conducting “business” around the lower-level entrances that they didn’t know existed. No the gardens was still, and it was like time was frozen in ice that slowly melted away with the rising of the sun. A slow drip, drip— Drip. Immediately Feemor turned towards the central waterfall. Someone was standing there. Whoever they were, they were small and moved through katas with their hands open like a greeting. ✦ The Temple vs. Order 66 by LauraBWrites, obi-wan & anakin & ahsoka & cody & jedi & jedi temple, 3.9k     The Temple cannot defy the Will of the Force. But it can, it will prepare for the possible outcomes. It can damn well fight back. ✦ We Three Runaways. by Aethir, obi-wan & depa & komari, 2.7k     In which Depa and Obi-Wan bond, and a new sister is found. ✦ A Short Break by Peppermint_Shamrock, luke & yoda, ~1k     Luke complains about his training, and asks about Jedi training of old. ✦ we are made of our longest days by bereft_of_frogs, obi-wan & anakin & cast, 4.4k     Two years after the events of The Phantom Menace, Obi-Wan and his new apprentice are called to a remote moon to fetch a baby who’s showing signs of a rare, unique power. On their journey home, Obi-Wan reflects on the last child he brought to the Temple and catches a faint glimpse of three possibly entwining futures.
I AM A PREQUELS ERA BITCH AND I'M MAKING THAT EVERYONE ELSE'S PROBLEM: ✦ the salle at dawn by maragny, anakin & mace, 1.5k wip     Master Windu is the best duellist in the Jedi Order. When Anakin Skywalker is seventeen, he duels Mace for the first time, and it ruins both of them for anyone else. ✦ Saving People Counts as Revenge, Right? by ImperialKatwala, obi-wan & anakin & dooku, time travel, 4.3k wip     Count Dooku of Serenno is an intelligent man. His methods may be a bit severe, and he may not be allowed true freedom to plan campaigns in the war he helped create, but he has always had an eye for strategy. Moving the pieces around the board and plotting out where they will need to be next. So, when he opens his eyes after Anakin Skywalker cut his head off, he knows to take a moment to assess what’s going on. ✦ if I could find solid ground again by maragny, anakin & depa, 1.5k     “You never told me what we’re doing today,” Anakin says, a little hesitant. “I…I don’t know much about Jedi things yet.” "Good thing we’re not doing Jedi things, then,” Depa replies. “We’re cooking!” Or, Anakin and Depa, finding their places in their family. ✦ Birds Fly in Different Directions by Triscribe, jedi & clones, time travel, 14.6k     In the corridor beyond her quarters, other Jedi were emerging from their own doors, most of them wide-eyed with shock. A few merely looked blearily concerned, and Aayla heard snatches of questions as she darted past, queries as to whether everyone experienced the same distressing vision. But those who clutched at their chests or throats, their weak points- those Jedi bore a muted horror in their eyes, and Aayla didn’t doubt they’d just suffered their own betrayals from trusted men.
✦ The Master, The Padawan, and The Force by Pandora151, padme & ahsoka, 1.9k     Padmé Naberrie was never one to procrastinate. More than that, she maintained a steady, consistent schedule — something that she’d managed to keep ever since she was a Padawan. She was always on top of everything, from her responsibilities with the war to training her own Padawan, Ahsoka. She was well-known throughout the Order for being steady, reliable. And most notably, no matter what, she didn’t just forget things. Which made her current situation all the more…ridiculous. ✦ Off-by-one Error by Jessepinwheel, obi-wan & cast, 12.2k     A stranger appears in the Jedi Temple. Nobody knows who he is or where he came from. Nobody knows what has happened to him except that it must have been something truly terrible. The stranger's name is Obi-Wan Kenobi. ✦ splinters of light by wrennette, dooku & jocasta & sifo-dyas & yoda & jaster & jango & cast, time travel, 22.5k     When Dooku's dying consciousness was sent back into his younger body, at first he remembered only that something important would happen on Korda VI, and soon. His investigations brought both clarity and confusion, and a conviction that he must atone for evils not yet enacted. ✦ The Road that Reaches by ExtraPenguin, anakin & mace & yoda & depa & shmi, 11.5k     As the Council sits down on Naboo to consider the newly-knighted Obi-Wan Kenobi's request to take young Anakin Skywalker as his padawan, they're informed of what transpired on Tatooine – and that Anakin used to be a slave. Mace Windu goes to interview the young child to confirm this, and gets rather more than he signed up for. ✦ the salle at dawn by maragny, anakin &/ mace, 5.1k     Master Windu is the best duellist in the Jedi Order. When Anakin Skywalker is seventeen, he duels Mace for the first time, and it ruins both of them for anyone else. ✦ through the dark (like two flames) by treescape, kanan/cal & quinlan, 5.3k     A Jedi found him on Bracca. Or, in the weeks after Order 66, Cal Kestis and Caleb Dume are reunited on Jabiim. Five years late, on the run from Inquisitors, they have a decision to make. ✦ Resilience by TemporaryUniverse, obi-wan & mace, 3.3k     Twelve years after his defeat at the Battle of Naboo, Obi-Wan's greatest enemy has returned from the dead. Obi-Wan has faced Maul and lost. Now it is time to face himself. ✦ The Buried Truth is Your Favorite Lie by Peppermint_Shamrock, dooku & yoda, ~1k     Dooku tries and fails to leave the past behind. ✦ Hanging On by the Last Threads of Our Hope by IllyanaA, ahsoka & rex, 5.2k     Ahsoka and Rex have endured too much. After the Fall, they stay together until they can't, but the Force has a way of bringing them back together. It's a fact for which both of them are immeasurably grateful.
MULTIGENERATIONAL STAR WARS IS THE BEST STAR WARS: ✦ Future Tense by CeruleanTactician, obi-wan & anakin & luke, time travel, 1.4k     Obi-Wan and Anakin find themselves twenty years in the future, where they meet a young man by the name of Luke Skywalker. ✦ Keepsakes by Coalmine301, obi-wan & leia, 2k     “You were the one who gave me my bantha, weren’t you?” “Yes,” Obi-wan nodded with a small smile. “Your father told me they were your favorite animal. At least then it was.” ✦ Why the Sith Don't Have Class Reunions by Peppermint_Shamrock, anakin & palpatine & maul & dooku & ventress, time travel, 1.9k     Sith apprentices rarely agree with one another (there’s a reason for the Rule of Two, after all), but Darth Sidious is starting to think that it’s worse when they do. ✦ My Dear Padawan by Tulak_Hord, luke & yoda & palpatine, time travel, 3.2k     In which a time-travelling Luke Skywalker successfully saves the Galaxy in perhaps the most horrifying manner imaginable. ✦ The Return by Pandora151, obi-wan & leia & haja, 1.4k     Haja wonders about the others. He wonders about the people he’s sent to the Path from Daiyu — not just Kenobi and the Princess, but that Force-sensitive boy and his mother, the Nautolan teenager from a few weeks ago, the young Kel Dor child and his even younger siblings. Did they all make it home? Are they safe? Was all of this worth it? ✦ Message From Guiding Light by Batsutousai, obi-wan & leia & mace, time travel, 2.2k     Ben and Leia never make it to Mapuzo on the borrowed supply shuttle, instead finding themselves in the middle of the Clone Wars.
FRIENDSHIP WITH CANON ENDED, THIS COOL AU IS MY NEW BEST FRIEND NOW: ✦ Not A Moment Too Soon by Triscribe, depa & kanan & cast, 2k     The first time she stumbled, her padawan said nothing, simply offering his shoulder for her to lean on. ✦ Parallel Lines by Pandora151, obi-wan & anakin, time travel, time loop, 10.7k     Darth Vader leans back in his chair, allowing a small smile to form on his lips, hidden by his helmet. “There is no escape from this, Obi-Wan,” he utters. He looks down at the neat line of text, and the Force echoes his words. “No escape from the past.” ✦ through the dark (like two flames) by treescape, ca/kanan & quinlan, 5.3k     A Jedi found him on Bracca. Or, in the weeks after Order 66, Cal Kestis and Caleb Dume are reunited on Jabiim. Five years late, on the run from Inquisitors, they have a decision to make. ✦ Loth-Cats and Loth-Rats by TessaDoesThings, mace & depa & kanan & ezra, 19k     All Mace Windu wanted out of the Post-Clone Wars world was a simple trip with his lineage to the long-forgotten Jedi Temples of the Outer Rim. However, on Lothal, the three might have bitten off more than they expected. The Republic may have triumphed, but the roots of what could have become the empire are gripped in the corners of the galaxy, and it might be time for some aggressive space weeding. Or a coup d'etat. That would work too. ✦ a princess, a farmer, a teacher by jesuisdeux, obi-wan & luke & leia & bail, 1.4k     Early in the morning, a girl and few men knock on a door. They don't wear anything resembling a soldier, but Obi-Wan has been a soldier long enough to notice the tense shoulders and wary looks beneath civilian clothing. She doesn't wear anything resembling a princess, but Obi-Wan knows these fierce eyes and grace coming from a righteous cause. or A New Hope AU where Vader doesn't attack Leia's ship and Leia herself delivers the news to Obi-Wan and consequently Obi-Wan doesn't die. ✦ What I Wouldn't Give To See Your Ghost by Triscribe , depa & kanan & cast, time travel, 1.2k     “Who are you?” Depa demanded, externally calm but internally frantic. “What is this place? And where is my padawan?” ✦ when that day comes by katierosefun, obi-wan & anakin & ahsoka & maul, modern au/reincarnation au, 44.8k     [or: the alternate universe where anakin skywalker has the chance at some new life…but only if he saves the life of a reincarnated obi-wan kenobi. the catch: neither of them know who the other was in the galaxy far, far away…but that might very well change.]

Gone With the Rest of Me
Writing this because Chapter 7 of Men of Power is not cooperating, so I need to redirect before coming back to it. Also @jasontoddiefor‘s Medical Trauma Time Travel AU is eating away at my brain. So here you go!

Anakin screams.
He screams because his skin is on fire and his lungs won’t work and there’s a man above him with tears on his cheeks as flames burn the sight from his eyes. He screams because the man has wrinkles and the pain is old and his lightsaber cleaves out a piece of his soul as it cuts the man in half. Satisfaction is agony; a cold pit of apathy, like the loss of a mechanical limb. It should matter, but it doesn’t when he’s long convinced himself the original didn’t either.
Something jostles him. There’s a presence in his head and it doesn’t belong there. It stings like new skin, and aches like a muscle freshly used, and no matter what shields he throws at it, it slips through them all like sand through fingers. It’s dug into Anakin’s mind as if it didn’t burn with all the others, and nothing makes sense.
“Stop, stop,” he begs. It’s too deep. Far too deep. It smells of sapir tea and sulfur, home-cooked meals and burning flesh. His voice is a whisper because his throat is scorched and he can’t speak any louder, even though there’s no pain except for the phantom of what was. The presence recedes as if burned and Anakin wants to laugh except he hasn’t laughed in twenty years, and something is wrong. Something is so wrong and he just wants the galaxy to stop so he can get off and fix it.
Hands touch him. They’re gentle and pressing and he doesn’t understand because there’s no pain. There’s no pain even though he feels it as vividly as lightning dancing across flesh. Each touch stings; the hand on his head is like lava on his scalp. It sets flames to hair he shouldn’t have anymore, each follicle a tendril of unrelenting agony, and he doesn’t even know why he leans into it so desperately.
Someone somewhere is shouting. He thinks he hears his name, but that isn’t right because his name belongs to a dead man and remembering the dead is a fool’s errand. There are questions - he thinks they’re directed at him - and a light in his eyes that is bright, bright, oh Force, it’s so bright.
He’s screaming again even though he never actually stopped. White, it’s white. Blinding, horrible white, like the inside of his Qabbrat. Only, it’s not his chamber because he’s laying down and he can’t breathe and the hands are everywhere and - doctors.
They’re doctors. A heart monitor beeps its familiar tune and a droid rattles off the confusing diagnostics that make sense only to healers. He’s surrounded by medical equipment, but it’s too busy, too bright to be the droids and nurses he knows. They shout and touch him with hurried hands and worried voices, and it doesn’t make sense because the nurses don’t touch and the droids aren’t gentle and neither are ever worried. This isn’t familiar. He doesn’t want to be here. He can’t be here. This is wrong, so wrong and he needs to get out.
Something crashes behind him and there’s a sound like crumpling metal close to his ear. It’s loud, horribly so, and it doesn’t make sense because there’s no static and his helmet is off and why is it loud?
Shouts erupt from the people around him. Metal groans and the table he’s on shudders, and suddenly there are more hands. There are more hands and he hates it. He hates them and he hates their concern and he wants them off! A great cry rises up around him from a cacophony of bodies thrown into walls. It splits ear drums that have long melted away, and Anakin cries.
He cries and the table shakes and he doesn’t care if the room collapses around him because at least then there will be silence. Silence and darkness and he’ll know where phantom pain ends and real pain begins. He doesn’t notice as the overhead lights flicker and die. He doesn’t notice as machines warp around him. He shakes on the table as full of agony as he was on that day two decades ago. Arms - weightless and sensitive and foreign - reach to grasp hold of his ears in an effort to block out the world.
It doesn’t work. The world keeps spinning and he spins with it. For the first time he notices the Force’s screams. It’s screaming and shouting and crying, and he doesn’t know if it’s echoing him or he’s echoing it, but it doesn’t matter because he feels like a sun inside and it’s been so long. So, so long since he heard it like this. It’s light and bright, but shadows - familiar and terrible - follow in its wake like vornskers hunting a meal. He hates it. He wants to pull away but he remembers this. This feeling of impending implosion within his own power and it scares him. It scares him and he hates that and there’s nothing left to temper it. He can’t temper it; he never could and -
There’s a hand on his head. It’s callused and steady and warm like sunshine on Naboo. Anakin’s forgotten what that felt like. He hungers for it, head tilting like a babe suckling for milk. Desperately, he struggles for more of that warmth, more of that comfort. It’s been so long since he’s felt either and he doesn’t deserve it, but Anakin Skywalker has always been a selfish bastard.
The hand seems to understand as it cups the back of his head and lifts it up. It’s gentle - oh so strangely gentle - as if Anakin will shatter otherwise, and he’s not so foolish anymore as to say that isn’t possible. Another arm carefully wraps around his chest. It freezes him in place because why isn’t it crushing him? Why isn’t it hurting him? He braces himself for the impact of whatever attack this is, but nothing comes.
Instead, there’s a moment of breathless weightlessness before he feels himself settle against a torso. A heartbeat pounds in his ear, loud and clear and scared, but the body is steady, holding him as if he were a child. He’s not. He’s a monster and monster don’t get held like this, but he’s too tired to fight. Everything is too much - too much sound, too much touch, too much sight - and if these are his last moments, well it’s not the worst way to go. He settles, shaking and gasping against the body, burrowing into it like a bygone memory. He thinks there’s something wet on his cheeks, but that’s impossible because he hasn’t been able to cry real tears in decades.
The arms tighten. They hold him steady as the person bends over, encompassing him fully in an embrace that should feel like a trap, but doesn’t. A voice whispers in his ear, choked with an emotion he thinks he should know but can’t remember, urging him on, telling him to do something, but he can’t concentrate. His mind is a mess, like his Master just gouged out a piece of his brain and set it on fire.
He chokes. He chokes and there’s nothing there to help him breathe and oh Force, where’s his respirator? His body is suddenly alert, flailing about in the embrace struggling for air. So this is what they’re doing. Clever. Let the monster suffocate. They took his respirator and are suffocating him and he can’t breathe and -
“-kin! Bre-! Ana- you have - breathe!” The person yells. Anakin can feel the rumble against his cheek, but the person doesn’t understand. He can’t breathe. “You have to - in! Ana-in. Breathe. Listen, -me. Anak-. An-! In, one, -wo, thre-. Hold. Out, one, two, -ee. Again. In..” the voice continues, but Anakin doesn’t listen. He can’t. He can’t do it. He can’t breathe. Why don’t they just give him his respirator?
“General!” Another voice, also familiar, shouts nearby and Anakin flinches. The arms tighten reflexively, but the pain he should feel never comes. Instead, a sound like pressurized oxygen enters his space, and everything else ceases to matter. A mask is placed over his mouth, forcing oxygen into his damaged lungs and he feels himself sag back into the stranger’s embrace. He can breathe. Oh Force, he can breathe.
The hand on his head cards through his hair and he doesn’t have the energy to question that. All he cares about is the air. Glorious, glorious air and the sunshine warmth of the stranger. A torso bends just slightly further around him, and he can sense the person’s head as they lean towards him. Bristles, pointed and sharp poke at his sensitive skin, and the sensation of soft fingers against his cheek is almost enough to make him sob. It’s electric. His nerves are fit to explode. Every brush against his skin is like liquid fire, but he welcomes it like the pathetic fool he is. It’s gentle. He’d forgotten what gentle felt like.
The stranger’s touch is enough to calm the Force into a manageable screech, and if he concentrates hard enough he can almost drown out the sound of the doctors scurrying around. Almost. Not quite. But he’s too tired now to bother retaliating. Whatever they want to do to him can’t be worse than what’s already been done.
He focuses instead on the crisp voice of the stranger. They murmur softly into his ringing ears, calm and soothing as if afraid to spook him, and it’s familiar in a way that makes his stomach lurch and his heart break. The bristles tickle his nose and he wants to reach out. Wants to see. But his mask is off and it’s too bright and he’s blind without it.
A thumb wipes something from his face. He can’t tell what it might be but a nail clips against his eyelids, sending a burning sting through his head that forces his eyes open. Funny, he doesn’t know when he’d closed them if they’d ever been open in the first place.
Light from a window greets him. It spears through him like a bolt to the brain and he hears something whimper nearby. The stranger cups his cheek again and Anakin marvels at the way the man’s hair catches fire. Anakin hates fire, but it’s a dull hate. Old, and one he doesn’t have the strength to call upon.
But it’s that hate that gives him time to pause. Because the room is bright but there’s color. There’s gold in that fire-hair, and it’s been so long since he’s seen gold he almost can’t believe it. Gold. In copper hair, against a pale face and blue-
Luke? But no. It’s not Luke.
The face that meets his belongs to a dead man. He tries to reach out but his arms won’t move and he only ends up sending a shudder of phantom pain down the length of his spine. It’s agony and he bites his lip to keep quiet, but the dead-man doesn’t care. The hand leaves his cheek and reaches out to clasp hold of his fingers. It’s feather light, but Anakin feels every callus, every scar, every groove. The nails need cutting, but he welcomes the pins and needles they cause.
He knows this hand. He dreamed of cutting it off for years. He dreamed of it reaching out to him for years. There’s a scar from a repair job gone wrong on the inside of his thumb and a burn from a cooking incident on his forefinger. They should be wrinkled, but they’re not; smooth with youth, and leathery with experience.
Fire-hair dances and he can’t stop staring. He knows that healers are bustling around him - knows that they’re touching him, but they’re meaningless next to the dead-man. The man’s face is young, with only the beginnings of laugh lines, and his blue-grey eyes have not yet clouded with age.
Anakin wants to sob. He wants to rage. Because this is the face he’s dreamed of killing. For twenty years, this face wreathed in flames is the one he wanted dead. Dead, for not loving him enough to put Anakin out of his misery when he had the chance. The hunched old-man colored in nothing but the red of his suit’s lenses was a poor substitute.
But the man’s arms are warm. His voice is soothing. He smells like sapir tea and regulation caff. The fingers that hold Anakin’s are gentle and the beard against his cheek is scratchy from days left untrimmed. When he leaves here, he’ll probably trim it. He’ll shower and make caff that Anakin will steal, and then he’ll shake his head ruefully before turning around to make the tea he’s already had in preparation. Maybe he’ll do paperwork. Maybe he’ll nap. It varies depending on the day and Anakin finds himself shaking at the thought.
Because it doesn’t make sense. He doesn’t understand. The galaxy is spinning and the Force is booming. He can’t tell up from down, and bonds long dead are thrumming with energy. He’s going to be sick. He has to be dreaming. This can’t be real and yet all he wants is to curl up into the embrace of the man who haunts his nightmares and beg him to finally end it.
“Please.” He doesn’t know if he says it out loud or in his mind, but the dead man holds him close and quietly shushes him.
Someone tugs on his arm, and he feels the familiar sensation of needles piercing his skin. He doesn’t want it, but he never does. There’s a brush against his mind and he doesn’t recoil. Master does it all the time. The trick is not to fight, even when he digs.
But the dead-man doesn’t dig. He brushes his presence over Anakin’s forehead as gently as a parent does their child. The world grows fuzzy and he thinks he hears the crisp accent say, “Sleep, Anakin. You’ll be okay,” before his eyes begin to close and his head tilts to press against the dead-man’s chest. Someone injects him with something else, but he’s too far gone to care.
He falls asleep to the sound of Obi-Wan’s heartbeat and the knowledge that he’ll still be gone when Anakin wakes up.

The Last Palpatine
Tumblr media
Now that Rise of Skywalker has been out for a few months, I wanted to share my two cents about one of the more controversial plot points. The reveal that Rey is Emperor Palpatine’s granddaughter.
AND . . . . meh, whatever. It would’ve been more interesting if she had been a lost Kenobi (perhaps Obi Wan’s granddaughter by Duchess Satine), a lost Skywalker (RIP Mara Jade), or just nobody in particular. But she’s a Palpatine now, so let’s just roll with it.
HOWEVER, I don’t buy her being Emperor Palpatine’s granddaughter! At least, not JUST his granddaughter.
Not that I’m in any position to judge someone who would want to sleep with Emperor “I just got my face melted off by my own lightning” Palpatine, but it seems too out-of-character for Palpatine to celebrate the creation of his empire with a roll in the space hay & risk creating a future threat to his rule. He spent centuries putting the pieces in place for taking over the galaxy & wiping out the Jedi - he would probably either take the extra 3 seconds to sheath his Light Saber or murder his partner once he was done with her (assuming he didn’t accidentally vaporize her with his Unlimited Power).
Granted, Hollywood AND Washington DC are full of guys who have gotten drunk on their own power & lost it all because they couldn’t keep it in their pants. And Palpatine’s let his hubris get the best of him & nearly ruin his plans several times before (see Darth Maul, Asajj Ventris, Savage Opress, and the Skywalker family). But I have a feeling Palpatine wouldn’t be so likely to underestimate his own flesh and blood.
And canonically speaking, Palpatine didn’t even need an heir. He’d been using the Dark Side to prolong his life for centuries, and he had a deal with the cloners on Kamino to keep a few clones of him on standby in case his original body became too decrepit, with a bonus upgrade of adding all his memories to the new clone so he could just pick up where he left off. As a functional immortal, Palpatine didn’t have to worry about grooming a successor or keeping an eye out for a potential usurper who might stage a coup.
So here’s what I think really went down. (With zero basis on the canon from the books)
A long, long, long, long, LONG time ago, Palpatine was a young Sith apprenticed to Darth Plageus. And, like Anakin, Palpatine had a “secret love affair” that was obvious to anyone who paid attention. However, Palpatine’s relationship was a bit less “tragic star crossed lovers” and more “casual fuck buddies who go for stretches without seeing each other because of his training but she knows if he finds out she bonked someone besides him she might get sliced like Wonder Bread.” Palpatine might have loved her, but his lust for ultimate power always trumped everything else.
Anyway, one day Darth Plageus summons Palpatine & tells him that he senses Palpatine is turning away from the Dark Side, and says the only way to prove his dedication to the course at hand is to kill his lover. Might just be a Sith thing, forcing apprentices to prove their loyalty by killing the people they love most (heck, Palpatine did it all the time in The Clone Wars). But Palpatine goes to his lover, who he senses has been keeping some big secret from him for a while now, and cuts her down. She tried begging for her life, promising she never strayed & saying she loves him, but Palpatine won’t be swayed. And as she lies dying, she gasps out one word that Palpatine can’t quite catch, so he dismisses it & goes back to Plageus with proof the deed is done.
Fast forward several centuries. Palpatine’s just won the Clone Wars, the Jedi are all dead or in hiding, he has a massive army of blindly obedient soldiers - everything’s going his way. And like all tyranical overlords who finally get to crown themselves king of the hill, Palpatine starts to get paranoid about losing his power. But who could possibly take him down?
The Senate? They’re all sheeple, buying into his propaganda about the evils of the Jedi & the need for a galactic Empire. The few voices of dissent can be ignored or quietly assassinated.
The Jedi? Most were gunned down by their own clones, and the few survivors aren’t even CLOSE to being as strong with the Force as he is.
Darth Maul? Eh, Palpatine’s kicked his ass before, he can do it again if he gets bored. And for now, Maul seems happy with his life as a crime boss.
The Clones? They’re all programmed to be obedient & never harm the Chancellor/Emperor. Besides, the few in the 501st that had their bio-brain chip thingies removed will die of old age before they can mount a proper counterattack thanks to the kamino cloning process aging them twice as fast as normal people.
Darth Vader? Between losing all his extremities, most of his ability to channel the Force, and his ridiculous amount of self-loathing after betraying everyone & killing his pregnant wife, Palpatine’s more worried about Vader throwing himself into a ship’s main reactor than he is about the possibility of Vader turning on him & throwing Palpatine into a ship’s main reactor.
So Palpatine goes to sleep in his ginormous palace, feeling confident that nothing can touch him, until he wakes up in a cold sweat suddenly realizing what his lover’s last word was.
“Baby.”
Baby.
Her baby.
More importantly, HIS baby!
If she had his child, and that child had descendants of their own, they could use their heritage to rally a coup to overthrow him & seize the throne for themselves! And if they inherited his strong connection to the Force? All his hard work would be for nothing if he died like his master!
So Palpatine starts hiring bounty hunters to look into this random murder from ages ago, track down the victim’s descendants, and wipe them all out. Palpatine’s careful not to let anyone know why these random citizens need to die, and most bounty hunters know better than to ask questions. But Palpatine’s distant descendants quickly figure out they’re in danger, including Rey’s future parents, and they start running, trying to get themselves off everyone’s radar.
Eventually only three remain - one great-great-great-great grandson, his wife, and their child. The man & woman know the Emperor will stop at nothing to wipe them out, so they do the noble/stupid thing & abandon their only daughter on a desert planet in the middle of nowhere, hoping to lead the bounty hunters away & let her grow up in peace.

Day 24- Forgiven
Anakin wakes after death to a familiar voice calling his name.
rating: g
pairing: none
word count: 2077
(read on ao3)
So technically I’m behind but I said in my opening Fictober post that it was okay to post late so I figure that applies to myself too.
There were masks dancing all around him in the darkness.
“He is not worthy.” That was the angry mask.
“Nonsense.” The serene mask.
“He is still too angry.” This was the sad mask.
“No, can you not feel it? He has done it. He has finally achieved balance.” The joyful mask had a voice to match.
“Why, have you brought him before us? Why?” Confusion peered down at him.
“Because he has brought balance to the Force at last.” That voice. That voice was familiar. He could not remember his own name, but he knew that voice.
“He has faced his great trials,” said the serene mask. “He has defeated the evil, both within and around him. He died knowing who he truly was.”
“This is his destiny!” exclaimed the joyful one.
“He does not deserve this,” said anger.
“That,” said the serene one, “is why it is called the Great Gift.”
Anakin awoke into darkness with someone calling his name.
His real name, not the Sith name he had used for over twenty years. And this voice was not speaking his name with malice, or fear, or anger, or any of the emotions he was used to hearing directed towards himself, but with the air of... an old friend.
“Anakin.”
The voice was familiar. Lilting, rough with age like he'd never heard outside his helmet, but light all the same.
His helmet. He wasn't wearing his helmet. There were no mechanical body parts weighing him down, no life support forcing air into his lungs, no pain.
There was no pain.
Luke, was his next thought, and then Anakin remembered.
He had killed Palpatine. His son was safe. He was free.
He was also dead.
Anakin blinked, then blinked again. How was he still existing? He remembered the moment of his death, how his consciousness had simply disappeared, like a light switching off. After everything he'd done, after all of his crimes against the galaxy, if there was an afterlife, he had expected to have no part in that. He'd made his peace with that before he died.
“Anakin,” the voice said again, and Anakin's consciousness turned to ice.
Obi-Wan.
If this was an afterlife, perhaps it was hell, where he was doomed to be tortured by his mistakes, all the people he'd once loved whose lives he'd destroyed. Padme was at the top of the list. Obi-Wan was number two.
“Leave me be!” he called into the blackness, then snapped his mouth shut.
His own voice- he hadn't heard it sound like that since... since the clone war.
“What trickery is that?” he whispered.
In front of him, a bright light appeared. The light grew, expanding like a supernova. That supernova grew arms, legs and a head, and suddenly, Obi-Wan Kenobi was standing before him.
This was a version of his Master that he had glimpsed only briefly, several years before on the first death star. His beard and hair were white, his face lined, but his eyes were the same as Anakin remembered from his youth.
For a moment, they looked at each other. Years of hatred and pain and sorrow stretched between them, closing Anakin's throat and rendering him unable to speak. What could he say? What he had done to Obi-Wan was unforgivable.
He closed his eyes, glanced away.
“Anakin,” Obi-Wan said again, but this time his voice was younger. Anakin looked up to see the Obi-Wan Kenobi of twenty three years ago standing in front of him. He wore no battle armour, just the long Jedi robes of his older self.
“How,” Anakin choked out, “can you even stand to look at me?”
“Because yours is a face I thought I would never see again,” Obi-Wan replied. “You have done the impossible, Anakin. You have redeemed yourself and brought balance to the Force.”
“That was my son,” Anakin said, and a sort of fierce pride simmered within him at the words. He did not have a lot to be proud of in his life. He could not take credit for the man Luke had become- he had done that in spite of Anakin, not because of him. But he was proud anyway, that something good existed in the galaxy because of him.
“Luke did not kill the Emperor,” Obi-Wan said. “He may have had a hand in your redemption, but ultimately, the choice was yours to make.”
After all these years, Obi-Wan had not lost his lecturing tone. Anakin felt an irrational urge to laugh.
“Where are we?” he asked instead.
“This is the netherworld of the Force.”
That didn't sound like hell. Anakin glanced around. Now that he wasn't so disoriented, he could feel the Force as he never had before. It wasn't around him. It was him.
And it was untainted and pure for the first time that he could remember.
“Why am I... here?”
Why was he conscious? Why did he have eyes to blink and emotions to feel? Was this a trick?
Obi-Wan stepped closer, reading the expression on his face. “It's not a trick, Anakin. For all the Sith promises of stopping death, they could never have achieved true immortality. Their selfishness and hatred blinded them to the secret of retaining one's consciousness after death.”
“Then, how-?”
“You died in an unselfish act,” Obi-Wan said. “You killed the Emperor and saved your son. You died not as Darth Vader, but as Anakin Skywalker. You returned from the dark side and because of this, you have been granted a gift.”
Anakin had fully expected to never wake up again. It would have been the kindest option he could think of, after what he'd done. And instead, he'd been given life after death.
He frowned, remembering something. “I saw... masks. Just after I died. There were masks all around me.”
“Yes,” Obi-Wan said. “Those were the Five Priestesses. They are ancient beings who exist in a state between the Living and Cosmic Force. They decide who is worthy of the Great Gift.”
“They were arguing,” Anakin recalled. “They didn't want me to have it.” He could understand why. He would have argued against it, too.
“Some of them,” Obi-Wan agreed. “But with some persuading, they were able to see what I did- that you have brought balance to the Force and fulfilled the Prophecy.”
Anakin stared at him. “You argued on my behalf. You went before the Priestesses for me.”
“I did.”
Obi-Wan. Obi-Wan, who had practically raised him after he'd left Tatooine as a boy. Obi-Wan, who was the closest friend he'd ever had. Obi-Wan, who left him to burn beside a river of lava after Anakin had destroyed everything he loved.
Obi-Wan, who Anakin had cut in half, nineteen years later.
He found himself speechless.
Obi-Wan had no reason to still care about him, not after everything. And to give him a second chance...
“I don't understand,” he said. “Why?”
Obi-Wan glanced down, a shadow crossing his face. “For years, I was unable to see that there was still good in you. I was so caught up in my own feelings that I was convinced you were lost forever.” When he looked at Anakin again, it was with a faint but sincere smile. “I have never been so happy to be wrong.”
“I'm sorry, Master,” Anakin whispered. “I'm so sorry. For everything.” For the death star. For Mustafar, and the Jedi Purge. For keeping secrets he shouldn't have. For every bit of pain he had caused Obi-Wan since the beginning.
“I am no longer your Master,” Obi-Wan said, “but if I have one thing left to teach you, it's that everyone deserves forgiveness.” And, as if he could read Anakin's mind, he added gently, “even you.”
Anakin closed his eyes, emotion threatening to overcome him like it had not in years. “If this is out of some misplaced sense of duty-”
“Duty? Anakin.” There was the exasperation he remembered so well. “You were my closest friend and for years, not a day went by that I did not regret what happened between us. I went before the Priestesses not out of a sense of duty, but because I could.”
“For a long time, bending the rules for you, Obi-Wan has been,” said another familiar voice, and Anakin swallowed against another wave of confused emotions as Master Yoda blinked into existence. “Break this habit, he does not intend to.”
Anakin did the only thing he could think of. He bowed, going on one knee as he had become used to. “Master Yoda. I...”
He trailed off. “Sorry” seemed too small of a word when he thought about all he had done.
“Forgiven you, Obi-Wan and I have, Skywalker,” Yoda said. “Time to forgive yourself, it is.”
That, Anakin thought, was going to take a very long time. But looking into Yoda's eyes, he saw no condemnation, and it eased the burden from his chest.
“Excuse me, Master, but bending the rules?” Obi-Wan said. “All I did was summon the Priestesses before Anakin's consciousness faded into the Cosmic Force. How is that bending the rules?”
“Not to be intervened with, is fate,” Yoda told him. “Selfish, your reasoning was, hmm?”
“It was the will of the Force for Anakin to receive the gift,” Obi-Wan maintained, but even after all this time, Anakin could read the slight defensiveness in his shimmering frame.
“Perhaps,” Yoda said, “coincided, the will of the Force and your will have.”
Anakin glanced between Yoda and Obi-Wan, something foreign rising in him. It was a feeling that washed away the guilt and the heavy sadness, one that made him feel lighter.
He was free. He was forgiven. He was wanted.
With a start, Anakin realized that he was happy.
“Regardless of intent,” Obi-Wan said, “Anakin, you are now free to travel back and forth to the realm of the Living Force, as a spirit.”
Luke, Anakin thought. He could go and see his son, perhaps attempt to make amends with his daughter. There were so many possibilities open to him now that he felt almost overwhelmed.
It really was a second chance.
He didn't deserve it. Obi-Wan and Yoda both knew that. The Priestesses had known that too.
But maybe forgiveness was not something that was earned. It was a gift in itself.
Anakin stood, coming face to face with Obi-Wan. For a moment, he studied the face he had not seen since half a lifetime ago. All those years of pain and sorrow still existed between them, but at the moment, they seemed very far away. That unbridgeable gap now seemed smaller.
“I... don't know what to say,” he admitted. “Thank you, Obi-Wan.”
Obi-Wan inclined his head. His eyes were bright and there was a hint of his old smile on his lips. “You're welcome, Anakin.” He lifted his chin, staring at things Anakin could not yet see. “Now,” he said, “shall we pay your son a visit?”
Obi-Wan showed him how to separate his consciousness from the Force just enough to return to the corporal world. He was already fading from Anakin's view as Anakin concentrated, and he noticed Obi-Wan was starting to return to his elder form.
He supposed it made sense. Luke knew him quite differently than Anakin did, and Force ghosts could apparently take different forms from within their lives.
Luke had never seen Anakin this young. Would he even recognize him? Even if Anakin knew how to return to the form of his disfigured 43-year-old self, he did not know if he would.
The passage back into the physical world was unlike anything Anakin had experienced before. It was nearly painful to tear himself away from the complete serenity of the Force. To slowly regain awareness of worldly surroundings was jarring. He grounded himself using the presences of Obi-Wan and Yoda beside him.
The first thing he saw was Obi-Wan, old in appearance, but younger in spirit than Anakin had felt in a long time.
The second thing he saw was his son, and he knew immediately that the trip had been worth it.
Luke's smile widened as Anakin joined Yoda and Obi-Wan. He beamed at his father, and Anakin's breath caught as Leia joined him. She hugged her brother and he turned his grin to her, unable to explain to her what he was seeing, but joyful all the same.
He found himself smiling as well. His children were safe. The darkness was gone.
And Anakin Skywalker was finally at peace.

Note
You have great taste, so I was wondering if you have any fic recs for the OT trilogy? Specifically with Vader? Your recs are the reason that I no longer eat or sleep and exist entirely of off Ao3.
Thank you, that’s very sweet of you!  I’m glad to help with the “I should be sleeping but who am I if I’m not staying up way too late to read just twenty more chapters before finally collapsing into unconsciousness, like, WHO AM I AS A PERSON if I’m not doing that?” because I don’t want to be the only one!So, here, HAVE SOME VADER FEELINGS.  And some occasional post-Vader feelings, but that were meant to take place near the end of the OT.  This is specifically for Vader fics, but if you want other OT-era stuff, like with Luke and Leia, just let me know.  ♥VADER & LEIA FIC:✦ Just a Little Bit of History Repeating by victoria_p (musesfool), anakin & leia, 3.7k    “I’m in charge of security, Your Highness,” Vader said, haughty and automatic, and had to shove away a sudden onslaught of memories. It was this building, he thought, and the presence of a small brunette senator with a smart mouth. That was all.✦ Father’s Heart by FernWithy, anakin & leia & ocs, 38.8k   During Princess Leia’s teenage years, she discovers a friend in an unlikely – and disturbing – person: Lord Vader. ✦ Leave Me, Oh Love by AceQueenKing, han/leia + anakin & leia, 3.2k    “No offense,” she said, “but I’m not in the mood to deal with you right now.” “Leia-” Vader said, but she held up her hand. “Of all the dead people in my life, you really are the one I least want to see right now.” ✦ The Tyranny of Kinship by amarielah, anakin & leia & luke & han & obi-wan & rex & ahsoka & cast, 23.6k wip    The presence of an Alliance mole aboard the Death Star leads to Bail Organa learning quickly of his daughter’s capture. With the dissolution of the Senate, only one option remains for him to save her life: telling Vader the truth of her parentage.✦ on the day… by victoria_p, anakin & leia & obi-wan & bail/breha & cast, 6.4k    Darth Vader eavesdrops on a very interesting conversation.✦ which grows higher than soul can hope by victoria_p, anakin & leia & luke & han & cast, 8.6k    “If Vader captures you, if he threatens to torture or kill you, you tell him you’re Padmé Amidala’s daughter.”✦ Everything That Rises Must Converge by victoria_p (musesfool), obi-wan & anakin & luke & leia, 5.1k   In which Leia makes it to Tatooine’s surface after the Tantive IV is boarded, and nobody is prepared for this particular family reunion.✦ I Won’t Disturb the Slumber of Feelings That Have Died by Darkmagyk, anakin & leia, 1.6k   Leia Organa is no angel. ✦ Clarity by Orange_Clown, anakin & leia, 1k   By the time that the Imperial Forces landed on Hoth, Leia was the only one left on the base. ✦ Flesh of My Flesh by igrockspock, anakin & leia, 3.6k   Leia was not adopted. She was stolen in the middle of the night and registered to House Organa with forged papers. This was kidnapping, a class one felony, and her parents could be executed – unless she returned voluntarily to her rightful father. Immediately. A man called Grand Moff Tarkin explained this to Leia when she was eleven years old.✦ Carmine by AceQueenKing, anakin & leia, 2.7k   The Princess stirs, waking; her eyes catch him at her door and her face darkens, ready for a fight. ✦ The Trick is to Keep Breathing by AceQueenKing, anakin & leia, 3.3k    She’s older now, and so is he. Far older now. She wonders: will he have lost any power with his age? Will he be shorter, weaker? An old man on a ventilator? It’s hard to imagine that he won’t still be dangerous. But then, that’s exactly what she’s counting on.✦ Hear Me by crowleyshouseplant, anakin & leia & luke & cast, 3.2k   Leia struggles to reconcile Luke’s experience with his father and hers with Darth Vader.✦ In Which Vader Discovers He is a Father by glompcat, anakin & luke & leia & cast, 27.7k   A collection of (mostly self-contained) AUs where Vader learns about his kids earlier than he did in the canon timeline. Exploring both that moment of initial discovery, and the way the story unfolds after Vader finds Leia and/or Luke. ✦ deep as a secret nobody knows by victoria_p (musesfool), leia & anakin & obi-wan & luke & han & bail & cast, 6.3k   “If Vader captures you, if he threatens to torture or kill you, you tell him you’re Padmé Amidala’s daughter.”✦ daughter of mountains (the flesh and bone remix) by darlingargents, anakin & leia, 1.4k   Vader was Leia’s father, too. To die by his side would be the greatest honour.✦ The Gifted Child by AceQueenKing, anakin & leia & bail, 2.3k    Bail Organa watches his daughter navigate Coruscant society.  So does Darth Vader.✦ Siren Song by madame_alexandra, anakin & leia, 1.8k    Lord Vader has a crippling headache, and the source of it fascinates him.✦ The War at Home by victoria_p (musesfool), anakin & leia, 1.4k   He’s been there for all her other losses, so it feels right for him to be here for this one, too.VADER & LUKE FIC:✦ Sibling Revelry by frodogenic, anakin & luke & leia & cast & ocs, 25.5k   After Bespin and before Endor, Darth Vader is shocked to discover that Luke and Leia are twins. He’s even more shocked when Imperial Intelligence reports that Organa and Skywalker are, erm, a tad closer than previously suspected. ✦ Limpet AU byfrodogenic, anakin & luke & mara & piett & cast, 69.8k   AU. Darth Vader, having survived the Battle of Endor, proceeds to get himself and his ship lost in the Unknown Regions for twenty-five years. When he returns, he finds the Empire has fallen, the New Republic is in force, and he himself has a new role to play…Grandpa. If you have ever wanted to see Vader vs. toddler, this is your story. Fluffily humorous.✦ a walk on part in the war by victoria_p, anakin & luke & leia & ahsoka & cast, 10.3k    Luke considers this family reunion far more successful than the one in Cloud City. At least this time, no one loses a hand.✦ In Loco Pirates by izzythehutt, anakin & luke & cast, 34.9k   A down-on-his-luck Hondo Ohnaka manages to capture the unicorn of all bounties–Luke Skywalker, which sends Darth Vader, Lord of the Sith, on a painfully familiar trip to the planet Florrum to collect his prize. The failed negotiations leave Vader in the awkward position of being stuck in a besieged pirate bunker, trying to balance keeping his wayward child safe (and in his custody) with controlling the tongue of a loose-lipped pirate who–to the surprise of no one–has a bad habit of telling ‘amusing’ anecdotes from the Clone Wars.✦ Deja Vu by SkippingSteppingStones, obi-wan & anakin & luke, 2k   When Darth Vader is roused from sleep by a sob he feels strangely connected to, he is compelled to find its source.✦ Two and a Half Men (with a baby) by jerseydevious, obi-wan & anakin & luke & piett, 5.5k wip   After a long day of bargaining with Hutts and attempting to ignore his past, Darth Vader is nearing the end of his rope. When he discovers his two-year-old son, it’s the straw that breaks the semi-rational Sith Lord’s back; in a rash act worthy of the Skywalker name, he scoops his son into his arms, steals a shuttle from his own fleet, and punches in random hyperspace coordinates to a destination on the other side of the galaxy. Unfortunately, father and son are not the only ones on the ship.✦ The Family Tree by frodogenic, vader & luke, 12k   In which Luke Skywalker is stranded in a tree waiting for a flash flood to recede. Too bad he’s got company… Post-ESB oneshot, can be read as canon-compliant.✦ Out of the Darkness and Into the Sun by Spongyllama, anakin & luke & leia, 2.7k   Luke is desperate to keep his father alive after Endor, but he’s the only one who thinks Vader should be allowed to live.VADER & AHSOKA FIC:✦ trade your heroes for ghosts by victoria_p (musesfool), vader & ahsoka, 1.5k    Vader presents Ahsoka with an ultimatum. ✦ memories like ashes at our feet by ambiguously, anakin & ahsoka, 4.2k   Darth Vader was gravely injured in the explosion of the Sith Temple. Now Anakin Skywalker has no memory of what he’s doing here with Ahsoka.✦  the stillness of remembering by darlingargents, anakin & ahsoka, 2.3k   A few years after the rise of the Empire, Ahsoka starts to have a recurring dream ✦ Balance Point by Vinyarie, anakin & ahsoka, 34.3k   Ahsoka wakes up trapped beneath the rubble of the Sith temple on Malachor with the man currently known as Darth Vader. He’s a Sith lord who has done some truly awful things, but she’s certain that some part of him is still Anakin Skywalker, and she’s going to convince him of that. No matter how many times he tries to kill her for it.✦all the words i once believed by darlingargents, anakin & ahsoka, 6.8k    Anakin Skywalker wakes up after fifteen years with a body that isn’t his.✦ Precious Illusions by amarielah, anakin & ahsoka, 2.4k    In the aftermath of their confrontation on Malachor, Ahsoka pays Vader a visit. Vader, meanwhile, has to adjust to a world that seems designed to piss him off. All while trying his best not to strangle the Winchesters.OBI-WAN & VADER FIC:✦ Cold by Yesac, obi-wan & anakin, 5.4k    Luke wasn’t the only one that Obi-Wan visited after he died. ✦ Betrayal: A Love Story by Shiny_n_new, obi-wan/anakin, 2.7k wip    A week after he kills Obi-wan Kenobi, Vader realizes he is being haunted. ✦ untitled by phosphorescent-naidheachd, obi-wan & anakin, ~1k    All you really need to know is that Obi-Wan’s ghost is in the slow process of haunting Vaderkin back into the Light during the original trilogy. ✦ Until Their Dying Breath by Down the Rabbit Hole, obi-wan & anakin, 1.1k    Vader’s ghosts are complicated. Set between The Empire Strikes Back and The Return of the Jedi. ✦ You Can’t Front on That by victoria_p (musesfool), obi-wan & anakin, 3.9k    When he hears Kenobi’s voice again months after killing him, Vader wonders if perhaps he’s begun to go mad.✦ Replaceable by amarielah, obi-wan/anakin, mildly nsfw, ~1k    He buries hands of flesh in thick, auburn-colored hair.
