DARKTAIL AU!

My new au!

In it, Darktail becomes kind.

But the Smoke... She's a cold-blooded killer!

Darktail was just following her orders, fearing his own mother. He saved Needletail from death, but in the future she would still die protecting Violetshine. Sleekwhisker is just as rude here, but still softens and even in the future will become a devoted warrior of the shadow tribe!

After the death of his mother, (Smoke drowned in the lake along with the Onestar.) he continues to be seen as a cruel cat, like Smoke.

Tawnypelt supports him, because she once faced the distrust of her fellow tribesmen.

[I think Sleekwhisker and Darktail would have become a couple, but they wouldn't have had kittens.]

I love how interested Darktail is in medicine and the concept of an apprentice. Its fun to see him using new information to his advantage.

Imo Onestar should've been like, killed by Darktail and have Darktail survive. Imagine the drama from that. Windclan changing from it. What could've happened.

Even if Onestar didn't die, maybe leave him on one life as Darktail managed to escape and i this looming threat haunting him.

WELL if you're interested. At the very least, in BB, the Kin Remnants are still going to be around. That I decided early, but they simply haven't had a chance to come back around.

I'm planning on killing Darktail in a way similar to canon, BUT, this time it's actually a conclusion both to Onestar's and BREEZEPELT'S arcs. Breezepelt joins The Kin for most of AVoS until he realizes it was a huge mistake and helps to free several cats from a massive execution with a great escape.

After seeing Needletail die to save Violetpaw, Breezepelt comes up with the plan to drown Darktail... but he realizes that there's no way to do it without going down with him. He confides this plan in Onestar, expressing it's the only way he feels he can ever make up for everything he's done.

With all the people he's saved behind them, plus Harespring and Heathertail who love him very much, he expresses that he doesn't feel like he deserves to be alive. That at least if he does this, he can be remembered for what he died for.

Onestar, whose anger and paranoia caused all this, from his embarrassment about the affair that made Darktail, to his demand to embargo ShadowClan during the yellowcough outbreak, and his cowardice in calling a retreat, feels sick at what he's hearing. Breezepelt is planning to kill himself to fix HIS mistakes.

He connects the dots: there is a similarity between himself and Crowfeather. How they caused their kids hard lives of loneliness and ridicule. That's what "The Kin" meant; Darktail created the family he never had.

So... I do need to kill Darktail here. This is his send-off. He's a violent cult leader slipping into paranoia against anyone who stands up to him, just a little further gone than Onestar himself was when he launched an embargo on medicine during an epidemic.

But SLEEKWHISKER is actually staying around. The back half of AVoS is getting an axe and things are being MASSIVELY redone.

She is going to be the leader of the Kin Remnants. Whatever remains of the cult, she is going to be leading away from the Lake.

I'm still working them out, though. So far they only have one major role as a group that Tigerheart leads the newly reformed ShadowClan into a fight with. But if there's going to be a random antagonist group in the future, in BB, that's going to be the Kin Remnants.

So, there's still something out there haunting the Clans. Onestar and Darktail are gone at the end of AVOS in BB, but Sleeky is still around.

Kind of wish AVoS had Needlepaw as a Windclan pov instead of Shadowclan. Like, instead of Darktail targetting Shadowclan, he befriends a wayward Breezepelt who's still struggling to fit in because cats are still suspicious of him and he helps Darktail and the Kin take over Windclan while also chasing Onestar out because he's too cowardly to face his past. It would also be kind of cool of Ivypool and Twigpaw went off together to find Skyclan and bring them back right as Darktail takes over Riverclan. This would be a good alternative instead of having them flounder around on what to do with Skyclan in the last 3 books.

Instead of Darktail getting killed early, he survives and also manages to take over Shadowclan forcing the surviving/uncaptured cats into Thunderclan when Onestar finally sheepishly admits what he had done in the past. This prompts Leafstar to going on a raging tangent at him saying how she lost a lot of clanmates due to his cowardice to take responsibility. In this version, Leafstar is the one to take down Darktail in vengeance of her clan but also does die for it as well. In this, Onestar steps down and gives leadership to Harestar.

I just think this plotline would be cooler than what we got in as AVoS arc.

Since Onewhisker gets the boot out of life, does the Darktail thing still happen?

Gotta be honest my knowledge of AVOS is limited to Nettletail and Sleekwhisker's MAPs and PMVs and frankly I'm not sure if I want to get to that point, I still need to figure out how the au impacts PO3 and OTS so put a pin on Darktail and I'll revisit him at a later date

Au where Onewhisker takes in Darkkit!

Heres Heatherpaw and her overgrown guard dog brother Darktail.

Hes still very awkward and stiff around him what with the whole WindClan civil war and deputy dispute shenanigans and Darkkit definitely added some fuel to Mudclaw's fire (How can you expect a traitor be leader etc).

Darkkit mostly grew up an outcast and it definitely felt like being the illegitimate step son of Onewhisker around his new family since he treats him like he doesn't really know what to do with him. Though, Whitetail actually grows fond of him and even mentors him herself, and he eventually becomes heatherpaw's mentor who is his absolute pride and joy Darktail loves his baby sister so much Breeze and Lion should be terrified (they are)

I also kind of imagine him kind of taking in Breezepelt since he, himself was an overlooked kit by his father and idk could be a nice found family moment

Uhh and i can definitely twist this some way so he still stays the villain by the time AVoS rolls up but im tired and gonna leave that for interpretation or whatever you say when you dont want to figure things out yourself 💥💥

Alderheart becomes The Kin's medicine cat AU ideas

I don't have this AU fully formed so see this as an invitation to throw in your own ideas too. I'd love to hear them ^^

I want Alder to straight up not enjoy warrior training as well as not being good at it. I like the idea of him getting hurt in a training accident and becoming fascinated with medicine. Love him becoming friends with Briarlight too through this.

Theres already two medicine cats so that coupled with his anxiety makes Alder feel like he cant be one and too afraid to even ask. But he learns as much as he can in his visits and friendship with briar, who persuades Jay to give him a few herb lessons.

maybe even Jay vouches for Alder because he knows what it feels like to be forced into a possions you dont want with no choice. But bramble isnt sure, especially with the amount of med cats they already have

I want all this to then lead into him getting the vision to lead him to skyclan, so bramblestar agrees that if this journey goes well he might make him a medicine apprentice

This is all because I really dont like him being forced when he could have easily wanted to do it instead, but also to push him to become darktails medicine cat. If he cant be one in thunder clan then maybe he can be one for the kin. Maybe thats what starclan wants. It would also be great for Darktail to manipulate these anxieties to get him on his side, making him think he'll never have a place in thunder clan.

I'm not sure what to do about Darktail lying about being skyclan or just being open about being the kin? Not exactly sure how it would work out. Either way he wont find mistfeather to tell him the truth and he'll lead darktail back like what was originally planned

alder and needle will still find twig and violet but they'll both grow up in the kin

I really want to make Twig a med apprentice since in the book she loved helping out Alder in the med den and wanted to be one until that weird time skip where she's suddenly a warrior apprentice?

I'd also love for Darktail to give Alder his name but I'm not sure what his name would be in this AU. Would love to get ideas.

These are the ideas I have so far. Not exactly sure where this goes but I love the starting point so I'd love any ideas to add to this ^^

Kittypet Thunderclan AU

AU where Tiny/Scourge, Ruby, Socks, Smudge, Oliver, Princess, and Cloudtails Siblings, all join Thunderclan Tiny is taken in after the Tigerpaw attack. Obviously, he is on the side of Ravenpaw after Redtail's death, Icefrost is his name and I think I will hand him to Thrushpelt as an apprentice. --- Smudge, Oliver, & Princess, all join after Fire does. Just after they find out that Princess is pregnant so that they do not get separated, Smudge becomes Coalspot, Princess becomes Fawnheart, and Oliver becomes Lightflare (I wanted them to have names that tied them to Fireheart). Cloudtail is still named Cloudkit, but I am working on names for the other kits. --- Ruby and Socks join at the time they would have gone to Bloodclan for food, finding Tiny based on the words of two strays he lets get away with hunting for food(Bone and Brick), Ruby becomes Smokefall and Socks becomes Shadestreak. --- Icefrost finds out that Fireheart is his half-brother shortly after he joins when he asks about his family and finds out Jake is his father. Ice acts as an older brother figure to all of the younger members of the kittypet squad, Cloud loves his uncle Icefrost and can be found trying to convince him to take him on patrol. Icefrost still does not like Smokefall or Shadestreak but will be tolerant for the sake of his younger siblings and nieces and nephews. --- Ruby/Smokefall is the mother of Darktail in this au, Onestar is still Darktail's father. Icefrost despite his grievances with Smokefall, comforts her after Onestar rejects her and their son, one of the few times they have a long talk without any fighting.

What would the BB! Broken code protagonists think of Snowtuft if they found out what he did to end up in the dark forest?

Toying with the idea that BB!Shadowsight knows. He's listened to the Educator, he knows the basic story, how Cedarstar ended the crusades because of the murder of children. He probably heard the name "Snowtuft" and his heart dropped.

But Snowtuft completely doesn't remember. He doesn't want to. If Shadowsight suggested telling him, I think Snow would freak out a little and shout at him to stop.

And at that point, Shadowsight can't do anything with this information. Beggars can't be choosers, and he's not about to walk into the War Crime Forest and start getting picky about the War Criminal who offers to help him.

Longstar AU - A Dark Interlude

Trigger Warning - blood, injury, animal death

The night was dimly lit, the tree branches weaving together into a nigh impenetrable ceiling against the full moon.  The Newleaf air was chill against Longstar’s pelt as he slunk through the undergrowth.  He squinted in the gloom, the scars on his face pulling as he focused on the bushes ahead of him.  Longstar was on a mission of great importance, one that would shape his very future.

He was catching a late-night snack for his nursing mate.

Flamewish had told Longstar of her second pregnancy shortly after the Bloodclan Battle.  He had been, and still was, ecstatic about the development.  He loved Cloudtail like a son already, and Snowpaw and Mistlepaw like his flesh and blood, but kits of his own…he had taken one look at them and fallen in love.  Little red coated Foxkit, and tiny brown coated Swiftkit.  He only hoped Swiftspirit would be honored by the name.

It had only been a little over a week, and the usually jovial and lively Flamewish was exhausted, and craving a fresh midnight mouse.  Longstar was more than happy to provide, and had left his terrifying beauty in the capable paws of the Nursery and Fireheart.  And Cinderpelt, of course.  Neither sibling would forgive him if he forgot about “their” apprentice. Shaking the memories from his head, he scented the air for mouse-scent and listened intently.  Fireheart had told him though his eyes were fine now, they could – and probably would – deteriorate over time.  The dog’s teeth could have done quite a lot more damage, Starclan bless, but if he was going to lose his eyesight at some point, he’d best be prepared ahead of time to still be able to get around.  There was no fresh mouse scent, or even bird-scent, but a faint hint of bonesandbloodandteethandpack had his hackles raising.

And then a cat screamed terror and pain into the silence.

Longstar leapt into motion, a streak of silver-brown against the shadowed bushes and tree trunks.  The cat wailing was joined by the barking of a dog, and fear cut through Longstar like The Tyrant had cut down Tiger”star” – cold and piercing through his guts.  But a cat was in danger, and even if he was too late for them, he had to drive the dog off.

He only hoped it didn’t take a Life.

The sounds of thrashing bushes and feline terror grew close, and Longstar clambered up a tree to get a better vantage point.  There was indeed a dog, though far smaller than the ones Tiger”star” had lured to kill Thunderclan.  But it was tearing ruthlessly into a gray form, shaking the unknown cat like a leaf in a storm.  With little time to plan if he wanted to save the poor cat, Longstar calculated the distance, and leapt.  He landed on the small dog’s back with a yowl, causing the dog to drop its victim and whirl about wildly.  Digging his claws in, he bit down on the beast’s neck as hard as he could.  The dog yelped in pain and scrambled to get away, and Longstar had to jump off to not be dragged away.  With a final swipe at its hindquarters to drive it away, Longstar finally turned towards its poor victim.

A gray cat lay in a puddle of blood and debris from the bushes.  Their sides heaved raggedly, and their breaths sputtered horribly.  Longstar approached, but it was very apparent that this cat was dying far too quickly for him to help.  He crouched close to their face, and the cat’s remaining heather-blue eye locked onto him.  Longstar’s mind interposed Swiftspirit’s face on the dying cat, and he shuddered in grief.

“I’m sorry I wasn’t here fast enough to help you” he gently mewed, “but I promise to be here for you now.  Yow won’t be alone.” 

The cat looked at him with their teary eye, and tried to speak through gasping breaths. “…d…da…k…” The cat coughed wetly, then continued. “DaaAark…kkkk...t...t…nnnh…”  Their eye looked beyond him, and as he processed what they had said, passed into the night with a sigh.

…Dark?...Itn?...Dark kitten?  A KITTEN!?!?!

Longstar quickly looked around in a panic, the blood in the air clouding his senses.  Oh Starclan was there a kitten in this mess?!  Blood spotting his paws as he searched, he saw a gleam like starlight out of the corner of his better eye, and whipped his head around towards where the now lifeless cat had looked.  A tiny tuft of bloody white fur protruded out of the bushes, and Longstar rushed to the spot.  Within the bush, behind the brave parent cat, was an injured kitten, no more than three moons old.  Their – judging by the scent through the blood, a little tomcat – ear was nearly torn off, bloody scratches littered his little body, and his tail hung by a scrap of flesh.  His eyes were wide and horrified, and his sides heaved in terror. 

Oh sweet Starclan he needed to get this kitten help Right NOW! He reached his head out to grab the kitten, and was rewarded with a hiss and a warning swipe to his nose.  “Hey there, are you okay little guy?” Longstar mewed, trying to look friendlier.  “I’m not going to hurt you…you must be Dark, right?”  The kitten stared, as if not even seeing him.  Then his eyes focused at Longstar’s face, and his fur started to flatten. “You’re very brave, little guy, but I need to get you some help.  Can I take you with me?” The kitten – Dark – began to tremble, and whispered “…momma?”

Longstar hid his wince as best he could, and quietly mewed “I’m sorry, but she’s hunting in the stars now, and nothing can hurt her anymore.” Dark’s face twisted into tears, and he held back a whine.  “Please, Dark, can I take you somewhere safe?  My family and my own kits would never forgive me if I left you here.”  The kitten heaved a sob, and nodded, stepping forward gingerly. “…my name’s Darkkit…”

Oh.

That is a very Clan name.

“That’s a great name sweetie, just” Longstar paused, looking at the carnage behind him, “just close your eyes for me, okay?  You don’t want to see your mother like this.”  Darkkit nodded again, with a wince, and wobbled forward.  Longstar grabbed him gently by the scruff, and as fast as he could manage without jarring Darkkit’s injuries, headed for home.

Please Starclan, he prayed, let Fireheart and Cinderpelt be awake!

Fireheart and Cinderpelt were indeed awake, waiting at the entrance to camp with cobwebs and poppy seeds and worried faces.  Yellowfang’s spirit had woken Fireheart, and apparently was staying with Flamewish – probably to see her great-grandkits.  The Healers rushed the injured kitten to the Healer’s Den, and shooed Longstar away as soon as Darkkit fell asleep.  They had garnered some new information from the kitten – his sire had been a Windclan cat, who had rejected Darkkit and his mother Smoke, though he couldn’t remember the tom’s name or role.  Longstar had sent an early morning patrol to make sure the dog was gone, and another to bury the mother who had fought so hard to save her son. 

After thoroughly cleaning himself up, Longstar entered the Leader’s Den; as he thought, a starlit gray molly was curled over the sleeping Flamewish and the kits.  Yellowfang glanced up at him with a critical eye, then softened her gaze.

“The kit’ll heal up fine, Longface, stop bringing the mood down in here” she murmured.  Longstar sagged in relief – if he could trust anyone to be honest, it would be Yellowfang.  After a moment, he shrugged. “I’m just hoping Flamewish doesn’t skin me for not bringing a mouse” he joked.

“Extenuating circumstances, you live this time” came from the Queen, opening one eye and smiling up at Longstar.  “Now tell me about our new son!” Yellowfang laughed at the look on Longstar’s face, which woke a mewling Swiftkit and Foxkit.  With a glittering smile, Yellowfang departed from the den, leaving Longstar with his loving mate and kits.
