Physical characteristics - unusually large frame for his age (he's only a bit smaller than Ochre), teardrop scales around his eyes, black with lines of white scales, always seen wearing a three-moon necklace much like the rest of his winglet

Other characteristics/personality - avoids conflicts, loves his winglet and will do anything to make them happy (he’s scared of losing them because then he wouldnt have anyone else who cares about him), animus (monitor very closely), does not believe that animus magic can make dragons evil and thinks it's probably more complicated (this leads him to use animus without limits. Monitor VERY closely, and show him different examples of dragons being corrupted by animus magic), has a difficult time respecting other dragons privacy (not helped by the fact that he can read minds. suggest consoling), has a hard time completely trust others (suggest consoling), often sneaks out to go hang out with Stonemover (suggest making a schedule he can follow), Claims he’s always followed by a one-year-old dragonet ghost named Peacemaker that only he can see and interact with and can't leave his side (he claims he’s curious, loves reading and discovering new things. He claims they treat eachother like siblings. Suggest mental health checkup), winglet claims his body has an extreme reaction towards strawberries, thinks he knows what's best for other dragons, tries desperately to become friends with Moon and tries to court her because she reminds him of someone he can't remember anymore, has reported multiple cases of extreme aggression from the Jade Winglet (from being very distant and throwing insults  like Moon and Qibli, to attacking him on sight from Winter, Peril and Kinkajou. However, Turtle is nice and isn't mean towards him. Unsure whether it's because Scallop is best friends with him or not), has visions (the most recent one is the icewing kingdom being ravaged by a horrible plague with a Nightwing standing over mountains of icewing bodies. Try to convince him that it was just a dream and tell him you’ll look into it), has reported avoidance from every other student at the Acadamy, determined to reclaim his lost memories and find out more about his past (DO NOT LET HIM FIND OUT ABOUT WHO HE WAS!), very smart, great strategist, “do not put him in the same class with an icewing. This is for both of their safeties. An exception can be made for Winter.” - Tsunami,

Extra - Somehow Peacemaker’s spell was stopped, which ejected Peacemaker’s soul (essentially turning him into a ghost that is tied to the body) and returned Darkstalker. However, the reversal wasn't fully complete: his age only increased to 6 years old and he doesn't have any memories. He was then found by a Nightwing guard and permanently kicked out of the rainforest. Having nowhere else to go; Darkstalker joined Jade Acadamy

The Thrice-Born Twins

I'm starting my WoF rewrite project with the Darkstalker Legend. The book is honestly fine, but I want to see if I can turn it into more of a tragedy where Darkstalker is known to be an animus from the start, Fathom flees the Seawing Queendom after the massacre, Arctic isn't a complete abusive asshole, and Clearsight and Darkstalker were never meant to cross paths.

Here are my Darkstalker and Whiteout designs/redesigns

Darkstalker:

I find it incredibly boring that Darkstalker looks exactly like a Nightwing and that Prince Arctic likes Whiteout more because she looks more like him.

The only Nightwing aspect of Darkstalker is his dark scales. Everything else from his body structure, to his wings, to his face says Icewing nobility. In fact, he bears a striking resemblance to his grandmother, Queen Diamond, even inheriting her signature twisted horns. He has a teardrop scale behind each eye and a round scale on his forehead that denote his mind reading and prophetic abilities.

As is expected of any noble Nightwing, Darkstalker is very intelligent and very charismatic. He was always going to be a key pawn in the Nightwing court by virtue of his birth, but when he was born on the brightest night, plans started to shift. Then, to Arctic's dismay, he presented as an animus when he was a dragonet.

Darkstalker is betrothed to Queen Vigilance's daughter and spends his time learning to become the perfect prince. He and all those around him see nothing but glory in his future, at least until he bumps into a strange Nightwing one night.

Darkstalker is always in fashion. Like many noble Nightwings, he wears a cool colored cloth around his body (the more translucent the better). He wears a matching set of bracelets and a tail band as well as silver bands on his horns and spines. The earring he has on is part of a pair gifted to him from his betrothed. He unfortunately doesn't have a nose horn or he would wear a ring on it, he wears one on his wing thumb instead.

Whiteout:

Though her egg turned silver, Whiteout hatched the morning after the brightest night, which is unheard of. Unlike her brother, if you painted her fully black she'd heavily resemble a Nightwing, sans some spikiness. She has Foeslayer's eyes and horns. She's shorter than her brother, but a lot more stocky. Whiteout is regarded as strange, quiet, and a pain in the tail to make wear anything.

Whiteout doesn't speak much and the words that she says are either very blunt or don't make much sense...at first. She's sensitive to a lot of stimuli and rarely changes her expression. She was very difficult to teach, regardless of how many private tutors she had, and continues to be unable to assimilate into Nightwing nobility. As a result, she's generally dismissed and escapes Queen Vigilance's eye. She very talented in painting.

Whiteout wears a triple piercing earring with a blue, star-shaped gem on the end as well as a onyx bracelet matched with a nose-horn ring studded with lapis lazuli. She does not wear any clothing outside of formal events. All of her usual accessories have been enchanted by Darkstalker to not bother her.

A comic where Darkstalker and Whiteout are born the same night, with the same powers. They are fraternal twins born under the light of three full moons. The first moment after hatching, they instinctually reach for each other. They will do this as a form of affection and vulnerability for the rest of their lives.

Groundwork:

-Abilities which stem from things inherent to dragon biology (fire, venom, frostbreath, gills, etc.) aren’t present. More traditionally supernatural gifts (mindreading, oracle, animus magic, etc.) are still present. In retrospect this makes the Nightwings completely op but shhh

-Each tribe is inspired off a mishmash frankenstein of different real-world cultures

-Dragons are an endangered species, just a hum in the background and nearly hunted to extinction. They’re hardly considered a threat, especially when most humans haven’t even seen one in their lives. Once the centre of each people’s culture and civilisation, they’re now nothing more than Bigfoot sightings or exotic pets.

Culture:

-Sandwings are the least homogeneous tribe and take inspiration from various cultures in the Indian subcontinent and Arab nations (most largely India and Palestine). Many subcultures exist within the larger Sandwing kingdom. Common identifies (not present in them all, but there will usually be at least one) include gold accented accessories, darker skin, and clothing with light, desaturated, yellow/orange tones. They’re renowned for their abundance of poison, excellent street food, musical talent, and stereotypically maliciously intelligent. Regardless of class there’s a nation wide pattern (you can find the reference for it by Qibli’s headscarf) symbolising trade routes, oasis waters and dunes. It’s a symbol of national pride (included on thorn’s dress, and ostrich’s headband/headscarf).

-Nightwings are, on the contrary, the most homogeneous tribe due to their small population. They’re based on Japan (spanning multiple eras). I like to think the Nightwings lost a lot of their culture after migrating to the volcano, for they were once the most religious tribe, worshiping the moon alongside the Icewings, which I’ll get to later on their cultural similarities. I promise it’ll make sense. By now, all their deeply religious traditions have been relegated to superstitions. It was said they were blessed by the moons, but the connection has been largely severed. Only old dresses follow the tradition of embroidering in the moons they were born under. Moonwatcher’s dress is something akin to a hand-me-down, as are her silver earrings, it’s by coincidence it lined up with her actual birthday. Moon’s family was an exception because she came from a long line of seers (or alleged seers) who have done their best to preserve a crumbling culture. Common identifiers include near pitch black clothing and skin as pale as the moon. 

-Icewings have some of the largest populations, however, are surprisingly homogenous. Most sub-cultural differences are as a result of class. They’re based on Mongolia and Manchuria. Like Nightwings they are also deeply religious, maintaining their beliefs through rigorous scholarship. Hair has intrinsic religious value as a gift from your family- therefore it cannot be cut. The same goes for ear piercings and any other physical alterations to your body. IceWing jewellery as a result is very distinct because of its lack of need for an ear piercing, hooking around the back of the ear instead. Common identifies include long/braided hair, and light, cool-colored clothing suited for the cold.

-Skywings are loosely Scottish inspired, and I do not have a lot to say about the rest of the tribes. Most of their clothing have feathered accents. The peregrine is a sign of luck and wealth, with their feathers being adorned on the upper classes. Geese and chickens, being common farm animals, are found adorned on working classes. The second richest tribe, employing silver, gold, lazuli, and about any gem they can find in their clothing. Common identifies include curly orange/red hair, taller statures, feathered accents, a tartan like pattern, and clothing ranging from yellow to magenta.

-Seawings are loosely based on various Polynesian cultures, most prominently that of the Māori. The sea has an intrinsic religious value to them, with all children learning to swim, sail, and/or fish. They live off the sea’s resources, rarely consulting the surrounding land for supplies. On rare occasions albatross birds and seagulls are plucked for headdresses. These are reserved for high ranked royalty. Their clothing is loose and well adapted for the warm beach setting. Common identifiers of Seawings include ta moko like tattoos, olive skin, and clothing ranging from lime to purple.

-Rainwings are loosely based on Thai, Indonesian, and Cambodian cultures. They’re colourful and have the second largest poison reserves (bested by sandwings). Having once been a trade centred tribe, now they’re isolationist, albeit not intentionally. They have many history records, almost as detailed as that of Icewings, but the art has been lost to a changing cultural atmosphere. Once too religious, now their intrinsically religious practices are more cultural. Their clothing is similar to sandwings in the fact they cover as much of the body as convenient but remain loose and breezy. Common identifiers include bronze tan skin, vibrant pigmented clothing, and flower motifs. Nightwing villages don’t follow that guideline, they build on the ground as a tribe with a focus on hunting. I’m assuming everything in this universe is made proportional to dragons, hence why the trees are so large. This assumption is based off that specific panel of Bandit in the book six graphic novel eating a blueberry as big as his head. 

-Mudwings are sooo underdeveloped in my au (following in the steps of Tui herself) but they’re based on southern Chinese and Vietnamese cultures! They live in cities akin to Chinese floating villages, Vietnamese floating markets, and Tulou (architectural style of the Chinese Hakka) made of mud bricks. They're a very agricultural based people. Many of their villages are isolated communities- their emphasis on family extending to their towns. Common identifiers include umber skin, straw conical hats, and practical clothing in shades of brown.

Well, I took this ask's answer very...responsibly.

My favorite ships are Sunstalker, Glacierwinner and Cherrylime (Vermillion x Chameleon).

I never ship anything canon, because it's boring.

Sunstalker and Glacierwinner are actually from my AUs (Sillydark and Lightgiver). They are both thematic: villain and a hero. Only in the case of Glacier and Battlewinner in this story they work on the same side, but compete to get their way.

And in Sunstalker, Darkstalker is trying to be the ultra emperor of the whole world, and Sunstalker just wants to be friends with everyone and prevent the apocalypse.

And Cherrylime... well, it's the aesthetics of how a serious loser and a playful handsome man came together.

I just got this idea, like, what if Darkstalker didn’t grow under the mountain? Since he looks like a NightWing with just a small stretch of white scales under his wings, he could easily melt in with the other NightWings. So what if, when he got released, he went directly to either JMA or the rainforest and kept low. Spying, maybe killing one or two dragons (I like to think he would target Glory since he wouldn’t like his tribe having a RainWing as their queen)

Since Darkstalker was a dick the moment he was born, I devised a plan that I executed flawlessly…what if he broke Whiteout out of her egg and made her like him?

And you might think: well great Whiteout could stop Darkstalker, you’re throwing away Fathom & Clearsight & Indigo!

Well maybe Whiteout just is another Darkstalker, because what’s more fun with one villain? Two of the same hatching!

Anyway yeah…I mean, if I’m an artist and I don’t like something, I have the power to change it. Isn’t that great?

It will probably take a while for the parts of this comic to come out because I want to put a lot of effort into the art to make it the best I can

Some things to know

This comic takes place 35 years after book 15

I used the lineless art style in many of the panels in this page this was so the villan character " the icewing " can remain anonymous for now

The lineless art style will not be a reoccurring thing it was just for this page

Some parts of the comic are blurry this is because I drew them before realizing I needed to up the canvas size

This page was to give necessary info the rest of the comic will not be written like this page and will most likely be similar to the graphic novels where it follows the main character

Arctic and Foeslayer are gazing at their newborn dragonet twins with passionate expressions. The not yet named white and dark blue dragonet reached and touched Arctic’s snout, her expression looking worried. A tingle spreading from her tiny talons to her father’s snout. It was so small, the action so incredibly small yet something in Arctic shifted. His ugly pained heart began to beat at a softer rhythm and a sort of relief and fondness settled over him so strong he nearly began to shake. His eyes burned. Foeslayer had noticed the large silver scales on her dragonets eyes, and knew that her dragonets knew exactly how much she loved them. And she knew love them irrevocably, unconditionally, forever. Arctic’s heart felt lighter. Strange energy and love buzzed in the air.

Whiteout didn’t know what she had done, she had no idea what her talons had just done nor what had changed, and she would likely not remember…
