“A deal is a deal,” Max said simply, shrugging at his friend, “there’s no reason why he shouldn’t have fulfilled it.”

“I choose Sugar!” Max smiled, not bothering to look at any of the other men.  Everyone, including Max’s normal girl La La gave him a shocked look.

“Are you sure, Max?”

Max didn’t miss the pointed, angry tone from the other driver.

“I said her name for a reason, did I not, Valtteri?”

The older driver bit the inside of his cheek and nodded, “very well.  I choose La La.”

Max’s head snapped in the direction of the Mercedes driver, “What?”

“I choose La La,” Valtteri said again, this time shrugging his own shoulders, acting as though his decision was not a big deal.  La La didn’t move.  She stared helplessly at Max, silently begging him to not let this choice stand, “what?  Everyone knows that Sugar is normally my choice…but she’s not available.  So, I’ll simply move on.  La La.  Get your things.  I desperately need some release from tonight.”

“A-are you sure?” Lando asked once again, “I-I mean, I appreciate it more than you know, yes.  I jus-“

“A few of the girls have whispered about it, pal,” Max chuckled, nudging his friend, “we all heard about the secret little rendezvous during the break.”

Lando paled, “y-you have?”

“I get it.  You’re in love with her.  We can all see it.”

He paled even more, his throat tightening, “y-you can?”

But Max only placed a hand on his friend’s shoulder, “Lando, if I place higher than Bottas I will certainly get you Sugar, alright?  And anyways…I remember what happened in Austria.  I’m grateful to you.”

“Of-Of course.  I mean, I already-“

“And I know what you did for Danny.”

Lando couldn’t help the sad smile that graced his lips, “y-yeah…”

“You’re a good man, and my friend…my brother…if I can help you, Lando, I will.”

“Thanks, Max.”

“Max?”

Max felt like he was on the verge of a panic attack. 

The choosing had occurred, and most of the guys had left to the hotels with their chosen women, but Max stood in the paddock, Sugar nervously standing beside him.

“Max?”

The young driver’s head snapped towards her. 

And suddenly he felt bad about regretting his choice.  His heart ached at the way she just naturally flinched at his sudden movement.

“I’m sorry…”

“Don’t apologize, Sugar.”

“Y-you can trade me back to Valtteri…I-I don’t want to make La la-“

“Sugar!”

Sugar stopped speaking when she saw Lando coming into the room.  Max watched as her eyes lit up, and began to get glassy.  He knew that he made the right choice in that moment, seeing another one of this friends so happy as his reaction met her own.

“Lando…”

The young driver rushed Sugar and swept her up in his arms.  Their lips met quickly, and she cupped his face as he lifted her off the ground.

Max couldn’t help but feel slightly jealous of the interaction between the pair.  Even while he cared for La La, he knew that he didn’t have that sort of relationship with her.  He stood, admiring how sweet they looked, so swept up in one another, until they broke their kiss.  He knew that his best friend Danny Ric had felt a similar way about one of the other motorsports girls, Sheila, and to see his other best friend finding his own happiness with another made him wonder if he’d ever find his own.   

A stray tear slipped down Sugar’s cheek, and Lando was quick to wipe it away, concern instantly lacing his features, “hey-hey…what’s wrong, Sugar?  I’m here, baby.  I-“

“I’m so sorry, my love,” she whispered to Lando.  She looked to Max, “Give me to Valtteri.”

Max frowned, seeing the heartbreak cross his friend’s features, “Wh-what?  Sugar, no.  Valtteri is manip-“

“I don’t want to be with him,” she said quickly, turning towards him once more.  She held his face in her hands and rested her forehead against his, “god, what I wouldn’t give to be with you, ten times over…but La La…sh-she’s not used to him.  Valtteri is going to try to prove a point because Max chose me.  He-“

“Max, you won’t trade her back, right?” Lando said quickly, cutting her off.  Max bit his lip, watching the pleading looks from both his friend and his friend’s love, “I-I picked La La for you in Austria.  I-“

“No…” Max said gently, “I-La La and I have a working relationship, and maybe it’s gotten a bit too comfortable…but I-I made a deal with you.  If Bottas wants to have a go at her…that’s well within his rights.  She doesn’t belong to anyone.  I made a deal with you, Lando.  I told you that if the time came that I could repay you for Austria, I would.  Well, it came…and I paid up.”

Lando breathed a sigh of relief, “Y-yeah…yeah.  You did…”

“We good?”

Lando nodded, holding his fist out to his friend, “we’re good, brother.”

Max bumped it, and quietly walked away from the couple his guilty conscience gnawing at his heart, knowing that his own favorite girl must be in her own version of hell, and it was all his fault.

Valtteri was beyond pissed. 

Sugar should have been here with him. 

She was all but his girl anyways. 

Sure he’d been a little stricter with her since the break…but that was only because he was aware of the fact that she snuck off while he was training for a few hours, only to spend time with another driver.

But Sugar was his.  They’d spent nearly a whole year with one another.  But instead, he had to settle on La La, when Max Verstappen had chosen her. 

And all to give her to Lando Norris.

“DID I SAY YOU COULD MOVE?”

La La flinched away from the driver as he shot her a look of disapproval. 

“I-I was jus-“

But her words were cut off as his hand fell on her throat. 

“You didn’t clean me up.” He said pointedly, his own gaze returning to his crotch.  He was still hard even after cumming, and while she had swallowed most of his load, some of it was dripping down his shaft and balls, and onto the couch.

“I-I jus-“

“Clean.  Me up.”

“Again, I’m not making you do anything!” he pointed out with a shrug.  He spread his legs even more, allowing her to see all the way up to his puckered ring of muscle, “but I will say this…if you stay and fulfill your contract, I expect a certain level of pleasure…and right now, it’s this…”

“Y-you want me to do what, then?” she asked.

“I think you know what I want,” he smirked, his large hands splaying out over his thighs as he subtly gestured to the idea that he wanted to be rimmed, “are you going to fulfill your contract, La La?”

“I-I don’t-“

“You don’t what?”

She looked away from him, embarrassed to say that not only had she never been a giver of that type of pleasure, she wasn’t on the receiving end either.

“I’ve never…”

Valtteri licked his lips, a list of sinful brags appearing in his mind that he knew he could lord over Max and Lando, “oh?”

Before she could respond, he had grabbed her by the neck again and lifted her onto his lap.  She whimpered against his touch and how he pulled her hips tight against his.  He knew that in the morning there would be bruises, but he also didn’t care. 

“I’m going to show you so many things, La La…by the end of the week you won’t even recognize yourself.”

She whimpered again and his free hand wrapped around her waist and slid down to the top of her ass, “first things first…I’m going to show you what I like…and then, you’re going to repeat it on me…understood?”

A few tears worked their way into her eyes, and she nodded, “o-okay…”

He grunted, lifting her with himself, before unceremoniously walking over to the bed and tossing her on it, “all fours.”

She obeyed the command without a word but shied away from his hands when he attempted to spread her cheeks. 

She heard him growl from behind her and attempted to look, but the breath was forced out of her when he pushed her head and shoulders onto the bed and forced her legs apart.  She felt his body pressing against hers, his breath hot on her neck, “I was trying to be nice…you know…show you I can be a good guy…but if you’re just going to act difficult, then I’ll have to approach this differently.

She gasped when he moved suddenly.  The weight of him against her body was gone, but she was paralyzed by fear.  She didn’t even dare look up. 

Behind herself, she could hear some rustling around.  And while she was tempted, she closed her eyes and fought the tears that threatened to spill instead. 

Her head snapped in his direction, however, when she felt him grab one of her hands. He was quick to snap the cuff on her left hand and to the bedpost before she knew what was going on. 

“Wait!” she squealed, trying to fight the man as he repeated the actions with her right hand.  She tried to turn, but he dropped to his knees and started the process all over again, only this time with her feet, “What are you-hey stop that!  Stop!”

He shifted and finished it by securing her left food to the bed post. 

La La felt impossibly bare and vulnerable as her most intimate parts were spread for the driver.

“V-Valtteri, please…”

“You almost sound like my Sugar,” he mused with a smirk.  Her eyes went wide when she spotted a ball gag in his hand.  She immediately closed her mouth and his weight pressed against her once more.  She whimpered again as he pinched her nose closed, “almost…her voice wavers a little more when the cuffs come out…because when the cuffs come out, she knows she messed up…she knows she’s going to get broken.  But don’t you worry, sweetheart…I’ll get you there…one way or another.” 

The tears slipped from La La’s cheeks as she looked at the smug driver.  It was a waiting game that she knew she would lose as her lungs began to feel tight and heavy.  Her head began to feel like it was going to explode due to the lack of oxygen.  Her eyes watered even more as her body fought itself. 

But she couldn’t hold off for long.  The second her mouth opened, and she gulped in a huge breath of air, he let go of her nose but used his hands to fasten the ball gag to her mouth.  Her screams were muffled by the device, and Valtteri stepped back to admire his work. 

The naked woman was a whimpering mess. 

His cock twitched as he reached forward, groping at the globes of her ass.

hi! i'm really loving icarus, you're a wonderful writer! but i just had a quick question. i love the flock graphics, and they're super helpful! would it be possible for you to maybe list the species of birds for the main 'characters' of the story as well? you don't have to post example photos or anything crazy, but i think just a list like that would be helpful too. sometimes i forget who has what kind of wings, and i think having a list so i can google image the bird would be great.

An Analysis Through Color of the 2023 Driver Helmets

During a Grand Prix weekend, drivers are often fitted in team kits when not in the car and when they are in the car they wear the race suits. The one big method of showing creativity and expressing one's personal beliefs is the helmets that they wear.

Typically designed by the driver based on things that are important to them or they like, the helmets allow us to visualize driver personalities and differentiate them from their teammate. Every driver has one "normal" helmet that is run for almost every Grand Prix, but they can also decide to have "special" helmets for some races.

While the design of the helmets tells us many things about a driver, the colors that are used also hold significance.

Data Collection

The analysis is based on the most common colors used on the "normal" helmets. "Normal" is characterized as the regular helmet that a driver is using and has no track-specific features. Some key points to take into consideration were:

The helmets analyzed included Nyck De Vries, Daniel Ricciardo, and Liam Lawson since all three have raced in the AlphaTauri for more multiple races -> therefore had a "normal" helmet they ran

George Russell's green helmet from testing and the Bahrain Grand Prix was not used as he has primarily used the blue version of it for most of the season

With Daniel Ricciardo's helmets, he has variations of the honey badger on the back that are track specific, however, the rest of the helmet is typically the normal white/beige/dark blue scheme so colors for the honey badger were not included

Valtteri Bottas has had many, many helmet designs this season, almost one for every race, but there is a helmet that he's used without any track-specific imagery that was used for this

After looking at the 22 "normal" helmets run by the drivers, I compiled a list of every color that was used. The colors compiled in the list had to either:

Appear in a decently sized section on the helmet - so it couldn't be a color that just appeared in a sponsor logo

Stand out in the helmet design - so a light gray on a white background wouldn't count, but the colors of the Ferrari logo against a red background would count

In the case of lights or darks, it needed to significantly different from a normal shade of the color - so blue and dark blue (which was significantly darker) would count as separate colors or yellow and neon yellow would be two different colors

Results

Based on these two requirements, there were 16 distinct colors found on the 22 helmets.

White

Red

Black

Yellow

Of the 78 values collected for this, the most common colors to appear on the helmets are white (15 or 19.2%), red (12 or 15.4%), and black (9 or 11.5%).

Furthermore, after this, the colors were divided into one of four categories:

Warm

Cool

Neutral

Mixed

31 of the values were warm colors (red, orange, yellow, etc). 25 of the values were neutral (black, white, and beige). 21 of the values were cool colors (blue, green, purple, etc.) The rainbow was defined as a mixed color.

So what does this all mean?

It could mean nothing and I'm just overanalyzing, but that explanation isn't as fun.

Drivers generally implemented their team colors in their helmets - for 8 out of 10 teams, at least one driver had colors (non-neutrals such as black or white) in their helmet design.

All four AlphaTauri drivers used the same dark blue on the sides of the helmet and had the team logo. With the exception of Nyck De Vries, the dark blue for the AlphaTauri was not used in the other design elements of the helmets.

Both Red Bull drivers had the Red Bull logo in the team colors on the sides of their helmets and the team colors could be seen in other parts of the helmet designs as well

Mercedes is one of two teams to not have at least one driver with the team colors implemented (with the exception of the silver Mercedes logo). Neither driver had the Petronas green implemented in their helmet design. However, it is noteworthy that the colors of the driver helmets are implemented into the cars through the colors for driver numbers and the halo stripe.

The other team with neither driver implementing the main team colors in their helmets is Alpine. Neither driver has blue or pink in their helmet design, but they do both have red, which is featured in the French flag.

Lance Stroll's helmet is just the Aston Martin colors. As the team owner's son, it makes sense.

White and black on the helmets tended to be used as lines to make different designs or as negative space. Across the board, white and black are not the main for driver helmets. They're just the only two colors that will easily go along with every other color used.

Unsurprisingly, both Ferrari drivers wear helmets that heavily feature the color red. They drive the red car and the flags they drive under feature red. So where red is meant to draw attention, the red in their helmets doesn't. Instead, their red helmets blend them into the cars they drive, taking away the thing that is supposed to separate them from the car. Furthering the idea that with Ferrari it is the team above the individual. When you drive for Ferrari, that is your whole brand, you don't distract or take away from that.

Additionally, drivers mainly used primary colors for their helmets this year. There's very little foraying into secondary or tertiary colors. Which continues to be one of my aesthetic qualms with Formula 1 in general. We see so many of the same colors (especially red, blue, and black) so things kind of just blend together instead of standing out.

"Well, doc, hit us - will he live or nah?"

Jenson zooms in on Valtteri's face, mouth a flat line. DR.BOTTAS is stitched onto the pocket of his lab coat, dark grey, sleeves rolled up. His scrub top underneath is rumpled and pulled at the collar and he's in the same jeans he had on when they med-evaced Sebastian in last night after a Kaiju took a chunk out of the REDBULL.

"No," he says, turning back to the tablet in his hands. Sebastian laughs off to the side, hoarse. When the camera turns to him, Lewis is helping him sit up, rolling his eyes. He looks tired. There are red marks along one cheek as if he was holding it in one hand. Sebastian looks worse, cheeks a little hollowed out and pale, hair limp and flat. There's a bruise spreading across half his face. His hand falls on top of the sheet when he settles back into his pillows. If he reached out he'd be able to cover Lewis's knuckles with his fingers.

"Your bedside manner is shit, you know that?" Daniel is telling Valtteri, leaning into the frame, eyebrows wagging. Jenson laughs and the camera shakes slightly. "C'mon, mate."

"No," Daniel laughs, sharp. He looks like he hasn't slept too - the camera draining the colour from him even more. There's a sleep quiet snuffle in the pause left after, and the camera zooms in on Mark kicked back in the chair on Sebastian's other side, feet propped up on the bed, fast asleep.

"I'm just saying." Daniel's voice is loud and easily picked up by the mic for all that Lewis is quickly shushing under his breath. "It's, like, genuinely shit. You should work on it."

"Sorry." Valtteri doesn't shout. He doesn't sound very sorry. "Who are you again?"

The bright lights of the Shatterdome's medical ward make Sebastian look terrible but he's grinning at the camera when Jenson swings it his way. The grey walls behind him don't help. He gives it an overly exaggerated look: these guys, huh?

Lewis starts faintly humming his In All Ways But Physical I Am Not Here Right Now song that Jenson dubbed months ago in one of his earliest A Day In The Life Of A Jaeger Pilot vlogs. He has yet to properly sing for him despite the hundreds of thousands of requests in the comments.

Michael's aviator jacket is thrown over the end of Sebastian's bed, covering his feet. The SCHUMACHER sewn onto the back just barely visible.

Sebastian rolls his head to the side, one half of his face smushing into his pillow. One eye blinks at Lewis. Jenson focuses in on Lewis's face, carefully watching Daniel who has yet to look away from Valtteri. He always did get mean when he was worried.

And no one quite knew where to poke Daniel Ricciardo like Valtteri Bottas.

Lewis softens fractionally when he turns his attention to Sebastian. Jenson zooms back out, not needing to see all that up close.

"Do some Beatles for me?"

Lewis laughs for the first time since Jenson heard him declare the REDBULL out of commission over the comms hours ago. It makes him look younger.

"Maybe at your funeral," he says, not quite kind, and grins over at Valtteri. Jenson just catches the end of Valtteri's sideye. His shoulders loosen as he looks at Sebastian, putting down his tablet on the bedside locker, careful not to hit Mark.

"You'll be fine," Valtteri tells him, and Daniel's face twists. Jenson is careful not to catch it on camera - not that most, if any, of this will end up in the weekly vid. "Until next time, you do something stupid," Valtteri adds, dry. Sebastian only sends him a salute, grinning, before he winks at the camera.

Born for the telly, the cunt, Jenson thinks, near breathless with relief.

Mabel is going to R.O.C., and she still can't believe it. It's her first-ever race event she goes to. She's been preparing herself since they announced the lineup of the drivers in September. She's more than excited.

Thankfully the ticket for the race wasn't that expensive, so she had the chance to take one hotel close to the circuit. It's five minutes away from the event.

We are Friday afternoon, and she checks into her hotel room for the weekend. It's tiny but cozy and has a breathtaking view of the snowy mountains, and the icy landscape is stunning.

She took a lot of warm clothes because she couldn't wait to be outside.

She puts snow pants on, and off she explores this Sweden adventure. She arrives at the main house of the event and enters to get her passes and her little pamphlet with all the racing schedules. She only walks a few minutes outside, but her nose is already red from the cold.

She thanks the receptionist and sits a little away to put everything in her bag. In the corner of her eye, she sees David Coulthard, Valtteri Bottas and Sebastian Vettel talking actively, probably about the coming race.

It's the closest she's been to those legends, and she can't help but blush intensely.

They do not notice that they are being observed, but it is only when they decide to get out of the building that they see her. She stands before them with her eyes wide open and a shocked expression on her face.

She begins to stutter and blushes even more, which embarrasses her more. Sebastian is the first to step towards her and takes her phone from her hands to take a photo with her wishing her a nice day before going out.

She stutters a thank you before turning to the two nordic looking at her.

"Well, hello, what's your name?" Asks David taking her phone to take a picture too.

"Ma... ma... Mabel."

"You have a beautiful name, Mabel. Hope you have a great weekend and don't forget to support Team Britain." He adds before heading outside.

It's only Valterri left, and she doesn't really know what to say to him, so she looks at him without saying a word. He's a little embarrassed but does the same thing to his colleagues and takes a picture with her.

Once they left and she was alone. She can't help herself be to scream her excitement.

The receptionist gives her a weird look, but she heads outside. With a huge smile, she takes in the beautiful sunset. She's gonna love this weekend. 

On Friday night, she’s eating her meal peacefully on her own at one of the restaurant's tables for the event. She eats an excellent Swedish dumpling dish with small sweet potatoes and a good glass of white wine. Delicious. She doesn’t really realize she’s there already. 

After her dinner, she takes a walk and looks around the facility. Most of it is made of wood, and it’s really rural. She loves it and can’t help herself to photograph everything she sees. 

In the distance, she hears shouts and encouragement. Curious, she blames herself slowly for the small crowd that surrounds a point of icy water to the several pilots passing after each other and regretting having accepted this cold midnight swim.

“They’re crazy,” she whispers playfully to herself before heading back to her hotel. 

In her sleep, she dreams of a weird thing. Something dark and sweet at the same time.

General info

Finnaly got around to writing this thing lol. Feel free to switch out oc's name for your name if you want it to be a self insert. This whole thing is definitely self-indulgent, but feel free to leave suggestions.

She'll be driving for Porsche, their car is mainly yellow and black like a bee with minimal white accents. The suits are yellow with black from the palm of the gloves down the sides. Think Miles Morales spider suit from across the spider-verse but the second color going all the way down to the boots. With a white collar and shoulders.

The main character is a faceless, 20 year old female driver named Snow. She got her driver number with a random number generator.

Sebastian Vettel is a team principal for the new team and adamantly wanted Snow to be one of his drivers. In all honesty he’s still a grid dad/mom/parent.

She wears a motorbike helmet when she has to do anything that relates to f1, partying with the rest of the grid? Helmet. In public with someone from the grid? Helmet or a mask + sunglasses + hat combo.

She trains in the helmet as well to get used to wearing it all the time.

Might upgrade to an LED one that shows facial expressions later on.

She collects mostly motorcycles rather than cars. Her favorite is a custom black Kawasaki Ninja 400 with changeable LED underglow.

She's shy with new people and on camera (in the beginning) but becomes a menace. She is considerate but a feral gremlin nonetheless.

Definitely a yapper of given the chance.

She's shorter than Yuki by 6 cm and he reminds her every time they meet.

She has 0 self-preservation skills, not a single brain cell in that helmet.

When she wants to nap she hides in the weirdest places. She has been found asleep in a tree more than once.

Likes to munch, and is often seen munching on carrots, cucumbers or dried fruits before races. She's not a picky eater, and would try exotic fruits for fun.

Has a sibling relationship with most of the grid, a dad relationship with Sebastion, and an uncle with Lewis, Valtteri, Sergio, and Fernando.

Dark Gen Z humor and energy to the max.

Trauma? Yes.

Self-deprecation? Master class.

Secret emotional support stuffed animal? Yes.

Where are her parents? She doesn't have any. She just materialized into existence. At least, that's what she says.

Her warm-ups are balance exercises with juggling.

Before races, she gives everyone in her team helmet kisses/headbutts as an endearing ‘thanks in advance’ or a ‘let’s do well, good luck’.

Afterward, she will full on headbutt drivers if they have their helmets on or a helmet kiss if they don't, as a ‘congratulations you did it’ or ‘a you did well’.

Helmet Watch 2024

*cracks knuckles* I'm back to yell about driver helmets.

Like talking about and rating all the liveries last year, I had a lot of fun doing the same for the drivers helmets, so helmet watch has returned for 2024! (Under a read more as to not clog up everyone's dashes, with the drivers listed in alphabetical order by surname.)

NB - I'm just doing the "core" helmet designs, as if the drivers come out with one-off helmets at the rate they did last year I wouldn't have any free time.

Alex Albon (Williams)

Like the 2024 Williams livery, it's an evolution of last year's design. Though with less sharp angles and using something much more bubble font-esque.

We still have the double As which is neat and I also loooooooove the baby pink and navy blue combo, especially with how much pink is on the helmet. It will really pop against the dark blue livery of the car.

Fernando Alonso (Aston Martin)

Pretty much a copy and paste from last year's helmet with a couple of minor tweaks. But in saying that I do feel that the minor adjustments make the design look a lot less busy. Like last year the colour scheme is great and it'll look great with the car, and I love the Aston Martin wings by the visor, it's one of my favourite details.

Valtteri Bottas (Sauber)

Any feelings I had about Valtteri taking forever to drop his 2024 helmet design have been immediately forgiven. I absolutely love this Northern Lights inspired design so so much. Both because of how unique a design it is but also the execution of it is just gorgeous. I love all the inclusion of the North star and all the different constellations, and that the number 77 has also been written like waves from the aurora. I would genuinely buy a mini-helmet of this I love it that much.

Pierre Gasly (Alpine)

I absolutely LOVE this one. The splashes of white and the subtle gradient shading adds so much dimension to the whole design (proof that if done right monochromatic designs can absolutely work!). I also just love the shade of pale blue as well, it's going to look really nice with both liveries Alpine are running this year.

Lewis Hamilton (Mercedes)

Misty eyes aside about this being the last core helmet design from Lewis as a Mercedes driver, I do absolutely love this. It's pretty much another copy and paste from last year, minus the rainbow band on the top. I'm glad that Lewis kept the rainbow lines otherwise the contrast between the neon yellow and purple would look quite jarring. But like last year I absolutely love it (apart from the exposed carbon at the top)

Nico Hulkenberg (Haas)

JMD Helmets really do never miss. Like his helmet from last year I love the paint splatter effect and I really like the choice to change it from orange and purple to acid green. I'm unsure on what to make of the purple and green combo as it def plays into the whole Hulk nickname, but the shades chosen do look good together.

Charles Leclerc (Ferrari)

Currently kissing Charles on his pretty little head for the addition of the dark metallic red accents. It's so pretty and adds a lot of dimension to his helmet design (while I did like his '23 helmet, it did feel a bit plain). I also really like the pattern on the base of the number 16 going round the helmet, it's been done in just the right font size and colour that again adds some more dimension instead of looking busy.

Kevin Magnussen (Haas)

This is a complete 180 from his previous helmet designs, and while I have zero idea what the inspiration is I really like it!

The bright splash of turquoise is really nice (I will always love fun colours on helmets) and it complements the parrot design really well. (Again, I don't know why Kevin has put a parrot on his helmet, but it's fun so I'm allowing it). I would never have thought to pair turquoise and marigold together, but somehow it works, and both looks really nice on the off-white base.

Lando Norris (McLaren)

I genuinely cannot fault this. I love that it's glossy, I love the neon yellow, I love the abstract black detailing. My new favourite helmet design of Lando's

Esteban Ocon (Alpine)

I am so happy to see Esteban carrying on the red and black colour scheme from last year. While I don't love this design as much as last year's (the big carbon fibre E is a tad off putting) it's still a really solid design that will not only stand out against the Alpine livery, but against the rest of the grid's helmets too.

He also gets a kiss on the head for keeping his helmet glossy instead of matte

Sergio Perez (Red Bull)

I'm unsure how I feel about Checo's helmet this year. On the one hand it does have a more cohesive colour palette than last year (and I LOVE the traditional Mexican inspired patten on the blue base), on the other it does feel a bit simple. I also wish the Red Bull logo with the white outline had been used instead, the text is a bit hard to read against the blue. But I do enjoy the splashes of yellow that do well to set his helmet apart from Verstappen's

Oscar Piastri (McLaren)

Another evolution of last year's design and I love the version for 2024! For me Oscar's helmet was too busy last year and I feel like it's been streamlined. My favourite part, the colour palette, has remained unchanged and like last year I just love how bright it is. I also really like the pattern on the medium blue base, it adds a really nice dimension to the overall design. However I do miss the silver holographic detailing from last year's helmet, it's a shame it didn't make the cut.

Daniel Ricciardo (Racing Bulls)

This is a colossal upgrade on last year's helmet (the tan and blue colourway was not it). And while the grey and silver colour scheme is plain, it definitely helps the flame design look a lot better than on last year's helmet and will look really good against the bright blue RB livery.

As with Gasly's helmet I also like the gradient shading, and the chrome (!!!) silver outline going around the flames.

George Russell (Mercedes)

I am so glad George stuck with a blue design instead of the acid green he trialled at some races last year. It's a really gorgeous shade of blue that looks stunning with the Mercedes W15 livery, and I really like the little bits of darker blue shading and the blue visor (again I don't talk much about matching visors much but I do appreciate them!!).

He also gets a bonus point for having the black parts painted instead of carbon fibre.

Carlos Sainz Jr (Ferrari)

Again another copy and paste from last year, but thankfully with less black. It looks so much brighter with just having the black on the top. I like that the design is a even more abstract than his design last year, it definitely makes it look different. And of course the red and yellow colour scheme means that it will look really good with the Ferrari livery

Logan Sargeant (Williams)

I really, really want to like this design but the American flag just completely takes me out of it. If it wasn't there this helmet would be gorgeous because imho it's not needed as the white and blue with the red accents already does a great job in showcasing Logan's home country colours.

Apart of that, the design is really nice and it will look so stunning with the car, it just has an echo of a Haas US GP livery 😭

Lance Stroll (Aston Martin)

A moment of silence for the fallen Aston Martin wings, they were very pretty 😔

Lance's helmet design for 2024 is a throwback to the design he ran in his championship winning European F3 season, but refreshed in Aston Martin colours. I did have a somewhat negative reaction upon seeing the exposed carbon but the more I look at it the more I'm on board with it. It definitely helps that it's all over glossy. Also shoutout to Lance's continued commitment to the Aston brand by having the flashes of neon lime to match the car's livery, I will always appreciate a proper commitment to the bit.

Yuki Tsunoda (Racing Bulls)

The Japanese maple leaves are baaaaaaaack!!!!!

I'm not so sure on the navy base... but then I also don't know what colour base I would switch it out for that would look good and also complement the Racing Bulls livery. But Yuki's helmet was one of my favourites last year so I'm really happy to see a version of it back for 2024.

Max Verstappen (Red Bull)

ngl I do like this a lot more than his design from last year. I love the cobalt blue (oh how I wish the RBR would be as bright as this) and I especially love the silver chrome accents, if they were a little bit thicker and more prominent I'd like them even more.

I also want to shoutout the red/orange duo-chrome visor, I never talk about them enough but I love it when the colour of the visors complement the rest of the helmet design (in this case the red and yellow in the Red Bull logo)

Zhou Guanyu (Sauber)

No notes. And dare I say, best helmet on the grid. I just love the pairing of all over black with the hints of the porcelain pattern and silver holographic accents. It's sexy as hell.

“It’s been months since testing and still, nothing.”

Hanna looked down the table towards one of the F2 girls who was upset that the season hadn’t started.  Meanwhile, the women in her group, the F1 girls, had a little more patience.

“We are going through a pandemic!” La la, the French woman said, her sultry, heavily accented voice starting, “maybe you should have some patience, no?”

“La La is right,” Mon ami joined in, the Canadian quick to agree with her friend, “people are dying and all you are thinking about is getting some dick.”

“Mon ami, no need to be vulgar!” La la replied, sending her friend a look, “she’s just upset because we get more accessibility than they do.”

“And it’s not fair,” the woman growled, shooting the girls at the F1 table glares, “you girls get things paid for in the off-season.  You all spent time with drivers in the off-season.  We were forced to wait at home until the could get guidelines in place.”

“Some of us wished we could have been on lockdown at home, Charlotte!” Sugar said quickly, muttering the response beneath her face mask, “if we were picked by one of the top five in the season, we spent our time with them.”

“What I wouldn’t give to spend the off season with Valtteri Bottas,” one of the girls dreamily sighed, “you’re lucky you don’t have to waste time on some of the guys in our league.  Tsunoda is weird.  All he talks about is racing and food.  Like I wanted to travel.”

“If you don’t like your contract, terminate it!” Hanna shrugged, “we’re all here because some part of us likes the lifestyle and the paycheck that comes with it.”

“You just like that you get paid to bang your husband!” Bebe pointed out.  Hanna blushed at the mention of it, “how are the kids, by the way?  The new baby good?”

She smiled, “yes…the baby’s good.  Nearly eight months old now and doing great…and Emilie was excited to be in grade one, but we’ve been getting notes from the school about online education.  Who would have thought I’d have to send my child to online schooling when she got to that age?”

“Your kids are so cute!” Sheila sighed, “they give me such baby fever.”

“Right?” Bella sighed, “gosh, they’re so beautiful.”

“Oh I think Sainz would love to put a few in you!” Hanna smirked, nudging the Russian. 

“No,” she giggled, blushing as she looked away, “Carlos-he doesn’-“

“Girl, if you say Carlos doesn’t like you one more year…” Sheila smirked, “we might have to fight!”

“He doesn’t!”

A few of the girls rolled their eyes, knowing how the Spaniard had pined over the soft-spoken Russian since she became one of them. 

“Well, I know what it’s like to be ignored in the off-season,” La La sighed, “all Max does is play on his sim.”

“I am calling lies, La La!” Mon ami added, “how many times did I call, asking to see you, only for you to say that Max had you busy in the bedroom.”

“You only called for a month…after the first month he got most of it out of his system!”

“At least you got a break…I swear, Leclerc is insatiable!”

A few of the F2 girls stopped their chattering at the table beside them, “is he really?”

“Tell us?”

“Well you would know…Charlotte…you know, had you not been picked by Schumacher and banged him the whole break!”

“Maybe you should mind your business, Sheila.”

“Maybe I would…if I didn’t have to bang your boyfriend.  All.  Break!”

Charlotte stood up, clearly angry over what was going down.  But the hard-headed Englishwoman stood up just as quickly and glared at the Monegasque woman.

“Ladies, ladies, take your seats!” the stewards started as the team principals walked in and sat at their individual tables, “now, I’m sure that everyone is excited to get back on with the season.  As you know, race week is upon us.  However, there are limits to what we are and aren’t allowed to do.  You women will be contained to your hotels during the week if you are not chosen by the drivers.  There will not be any going out or shopping.  Because of the Covid restrictions, we must remain vigilant.  Which means no extra fraternization if it’s not necessary.”

“But isn’t that…like…our jobs?”

“Your job is to keep the drivers as relaxed as possible.  You women are incentives for them,” another steward continued, “on race day the chosen women from the previous week will be allowed to be in the garages of their teams.  They will see the race from there while maintaining social distance.  Any woman not chosen from the previous week will be in a specific room set up in the paddocks, and from there, the top ten winners will have their choice of women.  At the beginning and middle of week you will each be tested for Covid.  If at any time you fail the tests, we will quarantine you to the bus.  If you have Covid after two weeks, you will be sent home and your contract will be put on break until you test without it.  If you test positive for two months in a row, we will rescind your contract.”

A few of the women looked around, unsure of what to make of it. 

“Do any of you have questions?”

“How is this going to work?” Sugar asked quickly, “in the past years, we’ve been at the driver’s side the whole week!  Does this change now that the pandemic is happening?  Some of us have been with the same driver all break.”

“Yes and no.  If you’ve been picked by a driver, you will indeed remain by their side, unless one or both of you test positive,” the first steward answered, “you’ll still partake in all of the activities you had before.  You’ll still reside in their rooms for the week that they’ve won you…but the only difference will be that when in the garage on race day you will be assigned someone to be with so that you are out of the way.”

“And who might that be?” Bebe asked quickly.

“Our team principals have stepped in to be the men you are with while your driver is racing.  Wherever you are, they are…they are to be your guides if you will.  You will not be allowed to roam as you have in the past.”

“Any other questions?”

“When do we start?”

“That’s stupid!  You should be allowed to remain with me at all times, just as you have in the past!” he growled.  Sugar bit her lip watching how the Finnish driver paced his room.  While he was typically a lone wolf, when he had Sugar, he clung to her, “did they test you yet?”

“Yes.  They tested me when they tested you.”

He chuckled, coming up to her.  She stood stock-still as he reached up and gently stroked her cheek, “I don’t know why I asked.  You undoubtedly passed.  Neither of us have it.”

“Because we did what you said,” she said quickly, knowing the right answer, “we followed what you said and stayed home during the beginning of it.  You protected us because you care, Valtteri.”

“You are smart, sugar,” he smiled.  He leaned in and pressed a firm kiss to her lips.  She barely reacted as he pulled away, his hand traveling down her cheek and stopping on the column of her neck, “you are always listening to me, like a good girl.  My good girl.”

“Because that’s what you told me to do, Valtteri.”

He smiled a little bit more and his hand flexed over her throat, “what do you say we enjoy the calm of not having to deal with anyone today?  We cannot go to explore since everyone is locked down.”

“Whatever you want to do!” she said softly. 

“Oh…I think you know just want I want to do,” he said seductively, guiding her backwards towards the bed, “there’s only one place I can truly relax, and it’s inside of you!”

“Max…”

“One moment, La La…I am almost done!”

She sighed from her spot on the soft, king-sized bed, watching the driver playing on his sim.  She lifted her phone and scrolled through the contacts.  Smiling to herself, she pressed the call button, knowing that it would go unanswered yet again. 

“I’ll show her!” she giggled as the line began to ring.

“Who are you showing?” Max asked curiously.

“Sheila was mad I didn’t answer all break because you kept us busy!”

“She’s one to talk,” he scoffed, “Charles has been stuffing her almost as much as I’ve been stuffing you!”

“Oh, fuck…right there,” he groaned.  His head fell back against the edge of the couch and his hips flexed; the gap between them widening as her head dipped and bobbed on his cock.  His fingertips flexed as well, hands entangling in the soft curls, “Sheila…that feels-oh…so perfect.  Don’t stop.  Please!”

“Like that?” she whimpered softly as she pulled up off his shaft.  His eyes lazily opened as she opened her mouth, her tongue peeking out so that she could slide it along his hardened length.  His jaw parted and he sighed heavily, the moan coming from the back of his throat.

“Just like that!” he purred.  His head lulled back and forth.  His abs tensed beneath the free hand that she’d placed low on his stomach.  Her nails slid along the ridges and down his v-line until she slid between his thighs to massage his balls, “Sheila….”

A buzzing sound came up behind her, somewhere on the floor and she knew that it was her phone. 

“Don’t stop baby!”

Hey Darling Puddin!

Fact #1: I'm very into plants right now. A coworker gave me a succulent, and because addictive personalities never know when to say when, now I have a growing family of plant friends. They all have names, and I try to hold them each and talk to them a little at least once a day. I can't believe how much happier it has made my days.

Fact #2: I thought the Universe was telling me to go to this place in Southern Oregon where they let you sit in a dark cave like environment for days and days until you reach enlightenment or go crazy. I tried to schedule a slot, but it is a more popular idea than I thought and I can't go until November 2024. So, a friend said I could go sit in her shed and she would toss hot pockets at me once a day. I'm half way considering it.

Fact #3: I haven't been able to write a single thing since I finished the Gravitas last September, no matter how hard I try. I'm not bummed out about it. I figure it will happen if it happens. But the other day, I was watching one of those goofy F1 things where the teammates ask each other random questions off of cards and got fascinated by the way Lewis Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas interact. Now I find myself kicking around ideas for a little story about them, and that's just crazy! But I guess we shall see.

FP3: Leclerc heads Albon and Alonso in FP3 at Silverstone as rain arrives

Charles Leclerc bounced back from his second practice woes to set the pace during Saturday’s third session at the Silverstone Circuit, leading the way from the ever-impressive Williams of Alex Albon and Fernando Alonso’s Aston Martin before a mid-session shower. Following a warm and dry opening day at the historic venue, wet conditions greeted the drivers as they returned to the track ahead of the FP3 hour, with temperatures dropping overnight and dark clouds hovering above. PRACTICE DEBRIEF: A Williams threat at Silverstone? Friday’s intriguing performance picture for the British Grand Prix While the preceding F3 race took place in the wet, a break in the weather saw the track dry up sufficiently for slick tyres when F1 cars headed out – albeit with a 90% risk of further showers throughout the session. Some 25 minutes in, the heavens duly opened again, putting an end to teams’ respective qualifying-style runs and effectively freezing the timesheets, with Red Bull the only team not to have made the move to the soft compound tyre. It meant reigning double world champion Max Verstappen – who topped FP1 and FP2 – finished back in eighth position, with team mate Sergio Perez down in 14th, though they still gathered valuable data in the slippery, intermediate conditions that followed. In the Red Bull drivers’ absence from the sharp end, it was Leclerc who posted the session’s benchmark with a 1m 27.419s on the red-marked rubber, making up for some of the mileage he lost after being sidelined by an electrical problem during second practice – Leclerc adding the flourish of a spin after the chequered flag at Club corner for good measure. Carlos Sainz had led the early stages of the session but fell down to sixth amid a flurry of improvements, with Logan Sargeant an encouraging seventh in the other Williams, despite “crazy hot air” in the cockpit after “something blew off” his car, followed by the aforementioned Verstappen. Plenty of spray was kicked up as the rain arrived midway through the session George Russell was ninth in the second of the Mercedes machines, just in front of AlphaTauri pair Yuki Tsunoda and Nyck de Vries, with Lando Norris 12th after an early incident that saw him stop at the end of the pit lane and then get helped on his way by a mechanic – the stewards set to investigate post-session. Lance Stroll completed a lap on softs just as conditions were moving from dry to wet, leaving him 13th in his Aston Martin, ahead of Perez, the lead Haas of Kevin Magnussen, Esteban Ocon’s Alpine and Oscar Piastri’s McLaren.
